The Odyssey Eleven Putter continues the larger headed mallet shape shown in the Odyssey 2-Ball Ten putter review . However the Odyssey Eleven is more than a shape as it is composite design that comprises a steel crown with a lightweight TPU & aluminum under-body and heavyweight steel weights in each of the back corners.

This keeps the CG forward and Callaway claim it is ¼ inch further forward than other leading mallets. This is combined with a very high MOI of  5,168 g/cm2 so this is a very stable putter that will get the ball rolling well. As such it is one of the most forgiving putters in golf as well.

The shape takes inspiration from the classic Odyssey #7 putter style and is maybe more function than form, but it looks better than the Odyssey 2-Ball Ten. The face is the traditional Odyssey White Hot insert which gives very good feel and seems to suit mallet putters very well.

The shaft is the new version of the composite Odyssey Stroke Lab which combines a graphite top section with a steel tip to improve stroke consistency, accuracy and stability. It is lighter than a steel shaft and works well with the Eleven head the excellent new Pistol grip.

The Odyssey Eleven mallet design comes with a choice of hosel to suit your preference. The short offset hosel creates a 40 degree mid toe-hang putter and really helps the visuals at address as it stays out of the way.

The Double Bend has a 10 degree toe hang and if you want your face balanced then there is also a centre shaft version too. However the head of the Eleven has such high MOI that most of the models have deliberately got some toe hang to help the face square at impact more easily so test them out to see which works best for you.

There are three designs of head starting with the Tour Lined version with a full length single alignment line. Whilst there is no line on the plain version, in the right light you can see a subtle one created by the light reflecting off the raised centre of the crown which is a cool touch.

The wider red, white and blue Triple Track alignment design comes on a black head, presumably to make it stand out more and works well with the Triple Track ball if you need assistance getting everything pointing in the right direction at address. This version looks a lot more striking at address with the contrast with the darker head in contrast to the other models.

The Odyssey Eleven is one of the best putters on the market because it delivers on its aim for maximum stability in a head shape that is pleasing to look at. The head combined with the shaft packs a lot of technology to help you align at address and hole more putts.

A battle’s raging for domination of the hugely popular modern mallet/MOI putter space. Since TaylorMade’s Spider Tour putter grabbed significant tour pro attention and took off at retail in 2016 as one of the best putters in the game , other putter brands have been forced very much into playing catch up.

Scotty Cameron’s Phantom X family has fought back hard, and thanks to being precision CNC Milled (the Spider isn’t CNC Milled) Scotty’s have found a place in tour and club golfers bags across the globe. Odyssey’s stability and forgiveness-focused Ten Series has put up a good fight over the last few years too, but Odyssey say they’re now ready to make the next move in their pursuit of TaylorMade Spider putter eradication by announcing a brand-new compact high MOI Odyssey Eleven family.

You probably haven’t heard too much about forward CG putters before, they’re a relatively new idea (Cleveland used the idea in their Frontline putters a couple of year ago) that go some way to explaining why golfers have loved the feel and launch of narrow blade putters for decades.

Odyssey’s constant research and development process has recently thrown up measurable results as to why forward CG putters work (blades have forward CG’s, wider body MOI style putters usually have deeper CG’s), and the benefit they bring to the party.

Consequently Odyssey are saying the Eleven is their first high MOI putter, and it’s been designed to deliberately attack a forward centre of gravity (CG). With a CG ¼ of an inch further forward (closer to the face) than other leading mallets, the Eleven creates better speed and spin control consistency on off centre hits, as well as a tighter dispersion ellipse in terms of accuracy and distance control.

Of course that means golfers will naturally improve their putting stats on the dancefloor.

Odyssey say they’ve achieved this unusual high MOI/forward CG set up by creating the Eleven as a multi-material, Mechano set of a putter. The Eleven’s head has a 260g steel chassis, with a super light 19g TPU sole insert to remove inefficient mass from the centre of the body. Strategically positioned aluminium and steel weights create a putter that combines the feel and launch of a blade with the forgiveness of a mallet or MOI model.

Odyssey says their new model boasts a higher MOI and more forward CG position than TaylorMade’s previous Spider X putter, which leads to improved dispersion, which sounds like a potent combination for many club golfers.

To ensure great feel and feedback each Eleven also comes decked out with the brands legendary White Hot face insert and a red Stroke Lab shaft.

Verdict: Odyssey Eleven putter

A battle is raging over market domination in the popular and lucrative modern MOI putter space (millions of dollars are spent within the arena every year), and Odyssey’s Eleven is an outright attack on the competition.

Last year the brand targeted the same audience with the Odyssey Ten, this year it’s the Eleven, and we like how there’s one angular body shape, which sports a new lightweight TPU core, then golfers get three alignment aid options and three hosel set-ups, to tailor the model down to their own personal preference. So it’s a really simple putter family to understand and choose from.

We’re big fans of straighter line putter shapes on the dancefloor so naturally the Eleven hit our happy spot which led to holing oodles of putts. We love the feel of the White Hot insert and the idea of having the Triple Track alignment set-up sat behind a Triple Track ball (Callaway Chrome Soft or ERC Soft), just make sure you don’t take too long lining up putts on the golf course as it can take a while getting the pair in a perfect line running towards your intended target.

It’s not a gripe, the only thing we’d change if we were buying an Eleven for ourselves is the grip. The stock model doesn’t have much in the way of flats or sharp edges, which we like for promoting a positive and confident stroke on the greens.

New Eleven Shape

The Eleven shape advances the forgiveness and alignment properties of our major winning Ten model. It’s designed to help you properly frame the ball with the right alignment at address, along with high MOI for better accuracy.

Forward CG & High Inertia

Using a multi-material design, we’ve moved the CG forward nearly ¼ of an inch over other leading mallets while increasing inertia substantially. This creates improved performance, speed control, spin control, speed consistency on off-center hits, and a much tighter downrange dispersion for putts that stay on line.

Super Lightweight TPU Sole Insert

This insert helps us improve the sound and feel, while adding very little weight to the center of the putter head.

Crowned Design

The crowned design allows us to finish the shape and provides a blank canvas for various alignment aides. Plain, lined, or Triple Track versions are available.

White Hot Insert

The most popular putter insert of all time is back with the original formulation, feel, sound, and performance.

Red Stroke Lab Shaft

The newest generation of our proven multi-material Stroke Lab shaft features even better performance. You’ve probably seen the world’s best players use it on TV, especially on Sunday afternoons! By shortening the steel section, we reduced the weight by seven grams. We also made it stiffer and more stable for even more consistency in your stroke…and your performance.
