Jenna Lyons Shares Her Must-Have Products
Jenna Lyons is a fashion force, but we saw her personality shine on the reboot of "Real Housewives of New York" as she opened up about her life and showed a more vulnerable side. Her closet made quite an impression on the show, and her unique style is one to emulate. She famously wore (and rocked) jeans to the "RHONY" reunion, and her current favorite styles are really oversized slouchy jeans, a timeless straight leg, and cropped high-waisted jeans. However, she's not a fan of stretchy jeans. "I really like rigid jeans, and I like them where they're worn in," she says.
With her trend-setting style, we had to ask her for some fashion tips we could implement, and one of her top tricks is complementing opposites. "If I'm wearing jeans, I'll probably be wearing something more dressy on top. If I'm wearing a fancy skirt, I'll probably wear something more pared down. It's like mixing patterns and materials," she says. Lyons gives us more examples, like pairing something soft with something crisp, a shiny item with something flat, fluffy, or matte, or pairing tweed with something satin or shiny, so that there's a contrast that plays off each other.
She also points out that fit and style can be two different things. "Something could fit but it may not necessarily have any style, I often times will buy a shirt or a sweater in a size extra small or an oversized one because the proportions and the way that you can push them are really different. I don't like to wear all slouchy, all head to toe, and all skinny, all head to toe."
No one embodies effortlessly chic like Lyons, and she let us in on how to build an archival collection like hers. "I used to just buy things all the time, and I think what I've gotten used to now is finding the things that I love and then going and trying to find them," she says. Whether it's older pieces from Marc Jacobs or a specific Valentino collection, she believes in investing in items you actually like, and if you're vying for something vintage, you can keep track of them on sites like eBay and buy second-hand.
Lyons partnered with eBay to sell a few items from her archival collection and unveil its Luxe Line. "While I know that they're authentic, I need somebody who's on the other end to feel confident and be authentic. eBay sets it up so that they properly authenticate everything, and there is a trusted seller behind it. They're taking care of all the communication with the seller and with the customer and vice versa for the customer to feel confidence that the piece and the item that they've selected has actually gone through the proper vetting," she says.
Beyond her eye for chic fashion and timeless styling tips, we had to know what products she has vetted and loves to use often. Ahead, we asked Lyons about her current must-have products, including Tata Harper skin care, her go-to toothbrush, and more.
Jenna Lyons's Affordable Must Have
"I have a thing. I cannot stand my feet being cold, but I also don't like to wear chunky socks," Lyons says. However, when she discovered Paka Alpaca Socks ($55, originally $60), she noted that her search for the perfect socks had ended. Paka socks are made from an alpaca blend that offers lightweight yet breathable wear that keeps your feet warm. "They don't make my feet sweat, and they work under my slim boots," she says. Lyons loves that they don't feel scratchy on her skin, and the brand claims they are odor-resistant as well.
Pro Tip: These socks are machine washable and great for leisure and active lifestyles.
Jenna Lyons's Investment Must Have
While interning at Donna Karen, Lyons found an appreciation for a quality blazer. "I remember going to vintage stores back then and buying men's blazers and trying to do something. Even if you were wearing a t-shirt, you looked a little bit more polished if you wore a blazer with it," she says. The Thom Browne Long Grosgrain Ribbon-Trim Coat ($434) is the versatile workhorse she loves to sport, whether it's with a sleek little black dress, just trousers with no shirt underneath, or even with a skirt. Because of its narrow structure, Lyons loved wearing this blazer with jeans and a beautiful blouse. "This isn't a traditional blazer, it sort of gives you more options because it's a little bit longer and it's also very shaped. You can also wear it as a dress," she says.
Pro Tip: Lyons recommends investing in a timeless and quality jacket, blazer, or trench that can give you a polished look, no matter what you're wearing, whether it's a pair of jeans, a t-shirt, or a button-down shirt.
Jenna Lyons's Morning Routine Must Have
"All my teeth are fake, and I'm like obsessed with keeping them in my mouth," Lyons says, and her go-to toothbrush is the Oral-B iO Series 8 Electric Toothbrush ($200, originally $250). She points out that this model spins as it vibrates, which helps her clean every nook and cranny, including her gums. "It has a smart pressure sensor, and I didn't even realize that's what's happening. When you push, it responds to you in a totally different way. It feels like it's kind of gripping your teeth and getting into them," she says.
It has six cleaning modes, including two designed for sensitivity care, one for whitening, one for a deeper clean, and one specifically for gum care. The brush alerts you when it's time to recharge or change out the brush head, and it has a built-in two-minute timer. It has an accompanying app that teaches you how to brush your teeth efficiently and effectively.
Pro Tip: Lyons also likes to use the Closis mouthwash since it doesn't have alcohol or extra sweeteners and has a light, minty taste.
Jenna Lyons's Sleep Must Have
Although she appreciates occasionally indulging in a seven-step skin-care routine, she likes to keep her everyday routine a two-step process. For maintenance and simplicity, Lyons loves using the Tata Harper Crème Riche ($230). "The moisturizer is really rich and creamy. When I wake up the next morning, I feel a little bit more plump," she says. The cream contains hydrating ingredients like avocado peptides and two weights of hyaluronic acid, plus antioxidants, essential fatty acids, and vitamin F.
She also loves using the brand's Rejuvenating Serum for her antiaging concerns. It contains peptides from Spanish lavender, which are supposed to help minimize the look of fine lines, and sugar polymers that help soften texture.
Pro Tip: The brand notes that this is best for those with dry, mature skin.
Jenna Lyons's Travel Must Have
Lyon's Yves Saint Laurent Raspail Cascade Print Coated Canvas Tote Bag ($1,025) is a practical yet sentimental tote bag she likes to travel with. "I have fond memories of it because I bought it on a trip to Paris. It was a trip that I had one of those experiences where everything felt good. I remember buying the bag and so many people I got so many compliments on the bag," she says. Lyons loves its unusual design, noting that it doesn't have the YSL logo on it. She likes that she can throw her necessities in it without looking disorganized. She carries a pair of socks, headphones, an iPad, a notepad, and a refresher kit with lip balm, a face cream, and a cleanser. "It's kind of sexy and sturdy, and has a good memory for me."
Pro Tip: She also recommends packing a pair of underwear and other day-of necessities in your carry-on or personal item bag in case your luggage gets lost.

These Jenna Lyons Bags Are Everything You Ever Wanted in a Tote
It’s no secret that we’re kind of (okay, totally) obsessed with Jenna Lyons. Sure, the creative director of J.Crew has a killer sense of style, but she’s also full of easily adoptable life and career advice . So, it’s not uncommon that when struggling to make a decision, whether it’s what to wear to a wedding or how to snag that promotion we’ve been after, we have repeatedly thought to ourselves, “What would Jenna Lyons do?”
Apparently we aren’t the only folks who have been asking themselves this question. Blogger, Robin Anderson recently released a limited edition tote bag that begs that exact mantra alongside an illustration of the all-knowing Lyons. Dude. Can we have 20?
The fact that this bag exists at all is amazing enough, but what’s even better is the Jenna Lyons bag is not a solo product, but rather the first in a #BossLadies bag series Anderson is creating. Each limited edition tote will feature a different female icon. As far as who else will be featured, no definite names have been leaked yet but Elements of Style tossed around a few you might have heard of, like Martha Stewart and Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg as contenders for future #BossLadies bags.
Each tote is printed locally, by hand, on recycled cotton bags that comply with fair wage and fair labor practices. They’ll set you back $35 , which – if you ask us – is a small price to pay for spending an eternity with Jenna.
Who would you like to see on a #BossLadies bag? Share your favorite female icon with us in the comments below.

Jenna Lyons on Her Go-to Travel Uniform and Favorite NYC Spots
The "Real Housewives of New York" star also shares what she loves about the city during the holiday season.

Even though Jenna Lyons may be one of the chicest New Yorkers we know, the fashion-expert-turned-reality-star has a soft spot for the city’s touristy places — especially this time of year.
“Everyone's happy, taking pictures. It's lit up all over the place and there's something so magical about it,” the Real Housewives of New York of New York City star told Travel + Leisure. “You cannot escape the feeling when all the trees are lit up and it's just beautiful.”
Despite the chaos and the crowds during this time of year, the former creative director of J. Crew is all about hitting up classic midtown holiday spots like the lights display at Saks Fifth Avenue and Rockefeller Center, but she has some insider secrets too; like snagging a table at Jupiter with a rink-side view of the ice skaters or heading to Pebble Bar for a cocktail.
“They have a back door so when Johnny Carson used to finish The Tonight Show he never went outside," she told T+L. "He would just go straight down through the building and go right into the bar. And there is this cool little back room. Feels very kind of ‘old New York.’”

What's your go to coffee order?
Right now my favorite coffee is from a little place called Cafe Lyria which is on Crosby Street. I get an iced latte with milk that came from an actual cow. Is there an under-the-radar NYC spot that you love?
I think one of the things that I like to do and recommend, is to take the ferry over to Governors Island. It's so beautiful. If you do it in the evening, when you pull away at night all of the city is lit up — it is one of the most spectacular that I've ever seen. And now, there's a spa on Governors Island , too. And it's because New York is fun when you're in it, but the view is just spectacular, to see it from afar. What about a store? John Derian is probably one of my favorite stores at Christmas time. He does such a beautiful job of making ornaments. Just walking into that store is kind of magical. What is the most fashionable city besides NYC?
I would say either Paris or Milan. I love Parisian style. There's so many chic beautiful women, even like the old grandmothers, they are all just so chic with their low heels and their hair done. Same thing in Milan. I also think that what I love about both Paris and Milan is that women — there's not a lot of plastic surgery. People like actually learn how to use their style. If you had to pick one, which RHONY star would you want to go on another trip with?
I can only go with one? Well, it would have to be my "girlfriend," Brynn Whitfield.
Celeb Check-in
When it comes to shopping, this holiday season Lyons will be using Klarna, a buy now pay later platform, which she partnered with to create a carefully curated shoppable gift guide . And thankfully for us, her guide includes many items she loves to wear while traveling.
“I often times wear my [Shearling-Line suede] Birkenstocks with really beautiful socks because they are very comfortable and they slide right off," she said of one of her favorite items. "I really like easy shoes.”
For a more polished look while both traveling on planes and for everyday, Lyons suggests adding a beautiful oversized blazer from The Frankie Shop to a capsule wardrobe.
“To me it's a finisher for an outfit because you can be wearing a sweatshirt and sweatpants and throw on a big oversized blazer and immediately look more polished," she said. "I think that is always a nice element and somebody everyone should have.”
Slaven Vlasic/Getty Images for Klarna
She also suggests a “non-schlocky” pair of sweatpants and signature jewelry to easily elevate a look.
Her other item for creating a signature look? (Which was a major part of her style on RHONY, as fans can recall.) A white blouse of any style; cropped — like the Hommegirls one in her Klarna guide — short sleeve or oversized,
“The white shirt is an absolute standard like, and again, same kind of thing. If you throw on a crisp white shirt it just makes everything look a little bit more polished,” she said. And now we have it, a Jenna Lyons-approved uniform just in time for holiday travels this year.

Jenna Lyons on Consigning Bags, Holiday Trends and What You ‘Absolutely Shouldn’t’ Wear in 2024
- Oops! Something went wrong. Please try again later. More content below
If you’ve ever wanted to raid Jenna Lyons ’ closet, now’s your chance: The fashion designer is parting ways with some of her most beloved luxury handbags.
Lyons, 55, is offering up select pieces from her wardrobe in partnership with eBay’s new Luxe Line, a mobile consignment concierge that provides a physical place for people to sell their designer goods and shop for new ones. (The bus will be making stops throughout Los Angeles and Las Vegas starting on Wednesday, December 13.)
Lyons’ contributions include a red leather Celine bag, a black Louis Vuitton duffle and a Miu Miu purse, making Us question why the Real Housewives of New York City star would even want to say goodbye to such good items in the first place.
“I have been an eBay user since the inception, and when I first moved to New York, I didn’t really have a lot of money. I found myself searching for vintage furniture chairs online — that I still own — as well as some pieces from Marc Jacobs’ first collection that I absolutely loved but couldn’t afford when they first came out. I was able to get them years later thanks to eBay and thanks to someone else who was done with them,” Lyons exclusively told Us Weekly .
Lyons shared that she wants to provide that same experience to someone else, adding, “I have a lot of things now, and as I’ve collected other things, later in life, I realize I needed to let some items go and give them a second life with someone else. Plus, the fact that the proceeds of these bags go to [Doctors Without Borders] is a good thing.”
Lyons asserted, however, that it “wasn’t easy” to let go of her precious pieces. “I gave up some things that I really love and that I used and had a real connection to. … It's the holiday season and there’s so much going on in the world, it’s just a nice opportunity to combine and give back,” she told Us .
Us Weekly’s Top 10 Reality Stars of the Year: Complete List
"The TV personality also assured that all the bags from her — and ones donated by others for the Luxe Line collection — have been consigned through eBay's new consignment service. Shoppers who are worried about scams can find solace in the fact that they are buying from expert eBay sellers and the process of consigning through eBay removes the hassle of needing to list items yourself. “This is a great way for people to have some level of trust, especially if it’s their first time buying a designer bag.”
In addition to filling up our Christmas wish lists with her eBay project, Lyons gave Us holiday-inspired fashion advice.
“Red is definitely the color,” Lyons gushed. “It’s easy and nice. It’s funny because I’ve been wearing a lot of red recently.”
According to Lyons, the lively hue instantly improves her mood. “When you look at a picture of yourself wearing red, the picture is brighter. I used to have a pink desk because I felt I looked better sitting on it. Red is a very beautifying trend that works,” she continued.
Lyons joked that the only time red doesn’t work is when it’s on those “crazy gigantic” MSCHF boots .
Celebrities Are Seeing Red This Fall and Winter: Kendall Jenner, Emily Ratajkowski, Angela Bassett and More
Earlier this year, stars including Diplo , Victoria Beckham , Janelle Monae and Lil Wayne painted the town red in the cartoon-like footwear by the streetwear brand. (MSCHF cofounder Daniel Greenberg opened up about the design in February, telling Highsnobiety that the boots are actually sneakers and a “realization of a specific sort of cartoonish abstraction of a shoe.”)
Lyons, meanwhile, isn’t a fan.
“I was walking behind someone wearing them, and they kept tripping over themselves,” she told Us . “Like, this is not working. You absolutely shouldn’t [buy them]. I’d say oversized, poofy shoes [are out in 2024]. They need to go.”

eBay Debuts Traveling Consignment Shop Featuring Jenna Lyons’ Handbags
By Annie Davidson Watson | December 12, 2023
Resale platform eBay is putting its luxury consignment service—which it launched in September—on wheels with a branded Luxe Line bus that will visit Los Angeles on Dec. 13 and 14 before traveling to Las Vegas on Dec. 16.
The Luxe Line will be open to the public—a physical space where consumers can have luxury items appraised, photographed, and consigned with the support of on-site selling experts. They also can shop the personal collections of top eBay luxury sellers, including fashion designer Jenna Lyons, who is consigning handbags from her own wardrobe.
Shoppers can expect to find jewelry and watches on the Luxe Line, such as classic Cartier Love and Trinity bracelets, Elsa Peretti for Tiffany & Co. designs, Rolex Datejusts, and Omega Seamasters.
Through consignment initiatives like the Luxe Line, eBay aims to “remove the typical barriers to selling pre-owned items,” said Tirath Kamdar, global GM of luxury at eBay, in a statement. “The Luxe Line gives sellers and shoppers a way to test out our new service in real life with the same trusted experts that eBay works with for the online experience.”
According to McKinsey & Company , “There is somewhere between half a trillion and a trillion dollars’ worth of luxury goods in people’s closets, and probably half of it is unworn.”
Items that Lyons is offering on consignment include a Celine red leather luggage handbag, a Louis Vuitton black epi leather keep-all, and a Miu Miu two-way Boston bag. 100% of proceeds from Lyons’ sales will benefit Doctors Without Borders, eBay said.

The Best Fashion Tricks We’ve Learned From Jenna Lyons
Get your notes app ready.
Jenna Lyons is living her best life. The style guru stars in The Real Housewives of New York City’ s reboot, and steals every scene with her witty commentary — all while growing her three-year-old fake lashes beauty brand, LoveSeen . Her Instagram is currently filled with glamorous vacation photos (mainly taken by her famous fashion photographer paramour) documenting her summer spent kicking it back in lavish designer numbers. Everyone is talking about Lyons right now, and for good reason: The designer-turned-reality star is having the best time and looking fabulous in the process.
And why wouldn’t she? Those who have been following Lyons for years know she built a successful career creating fun, feel-good clothing for women. It all started at the age of 21, when a straight-out-of-Parsons Lyons was hired as an assistant menswear designer at J.Crew and began climbing the company’s ranks. By the time she was appointed creative director in 2010, she had made the mall chain a major player in the high fashion world, thanks in no small part to her distinct personal style. (Fun fact: In 2013, New York Times dubbed Lyons “The Woman Who Dresses America.”) That’s because Lyons knows how to turn a wrong outfit formula into something so right. Sequins as daywear , pajamas with stilettos, double denim dripping with jewels — she made it all look effortless and cool.
And while Lyons’ head-turning looks surely raised a few eyebrows at the time, they’ve become the norm today, and are a testament to her staying power. Should you want further proof of her fashion prowess, we’ve compiled a free cheat sheet, if you will, of the industry insider’s most enduring style lessons. And when you’re still feeling sartorially stumped, just think: WWJLW? (What would Jenna Lyons wear?)
Denim Jackets Go With Everything
If you’ve been staying up to date with Lyons’ looks over the years, you’ve likely noticed a common thread: Her denim jackets. But her most iconic dungaree outerwear moment may have been at the 2012 Met Gala, when she took to the museum’s stairs wearing the casual piece and a flashy hot pink bow-adorned midi skirt. Lyons often wore her signature denim topper to fashion week, too, with jeans and statement pants alike (see: the jean jacket and camo trousers outfit she rocked at an Altuzarra show in 2017). In short: She proved there’s nothing the silhouette won’t work with.
Always Go For The Statement Jewelry
Close your eyes and picture the bubble necklaces you wore circa 2010, perhaps to a summer wedding or, in my case, for a fun high school outfit. Well, we wouldn’t have those (sometimes cringy) fashion memories if it wasn’t for the J.Crew alum, who made outsize funky jewelry a full-blown trend. No bauble was too big in Lyons’ mind.
But of course, many of the newer (and more subtle) styles on the market wouldn’t exist now without Lyons’ bold creations — and the latest updates are very fun. Look to fashion girl-favorite brands like Brinker & Eliza , Serendipitous Project , and éliou for playful iterations that feel more 2023.
Print Mixing Is Easier Than You May Think
Working various patterns in an outfit can, understandably, be daunting for some. But as Lyons’ style file proves, there are chic ways to approach the attention-grabbing look. In the past, the internet sensation opted for some striking combinations, such as the stripe and floral mash-up she wore to a J.Crew presentation at fashion week in 2013, as seen above. Other times, Lyons hit the streets of Manhattan in a sailor tee and leopard clutch .
On the runways as of late, zany pattern pairings have been the look du jour. Take, for example, the polka dot and floral outfits at Erdem’s Fall/Winter 2023 show and La Double J’s stripes and abstract motif combo for Spring/Summer 2023.
Chunky Glasses Are Seriously Cool
Most fashion insiders have a signature piece or two (see: Jane Birkin’s woven basket bags) — and anyone whose seen photos of Lyons knows that her chunky frames set her eyewear apart from the rest. Honestly, you’d probably have a hard time recognizing her without dark-rimmed specs, which have since become a go-to amongst the Hollywood set. Celebrities, including Anne Hathaway and Jennifer Lopez , have taken note in recent years, adopting the look for public appearances. Have perfect vision? Find a pair of non-prescription glasses! Lyons would want you to.
Pajamas Aren’t Just Meant For Bed
Lyons kicked off the pajama dressing trend with her polished approach to the look. See, for instance, this luxe print PJ set the former creative director wore to Prabal Gurung’s runway show in September 2016. Lyons also wasn’t afraid to complete the sleepwear look with a pair of stilettos (hello, Wrong-Shoe Theory ). In other words, Lyons’ silky separates walked so Pernille Teisbaek’ s poplin PJs — the influencer’s new signature look — could run.

Jenna Lyons's Must Have Products
Jenna lyons shares her must-have products.
As POPSUGAR editors, we independently select and write about stuff we love and think you'll like too. If you buy a product we have recommended, we may receive affiliate commission, which in turn supports our work.
Jenna Lyons is a fashion force, but we saw her personality shine on the reboot of "Real Housewives of New York" as she opened up about her life and showed a more vulnerable side. Her closet made quite an impression on the show, and her unique style is one to emulate. She famously wore (and rocked) jeans to the "RHONY" reunion, and her current favourite styles are really oversized slouchy jeans, a timeless straight leg, and cropped high-waisted jeans.
Lyons loves that they don't feel scratchy on her skin, and the brand claims they are odour-resistant as well.
"It has a smart pressure sensor, and I didn't even realise that's what's happening.
"The moisturiser is really rich and creamy. When I wake up the next morning, I feel a little bit more plump," she says. The cream contains hydrating ingredients like avocado peptides and two weights of hyaluronic acid, plus antioxidants, essential fatty acids, and vitamin F.
She also loves using the brand's Rejuvenating Serum for her antiageing concerns.
She likes that she can throw her necessities in it without looking disorganised.

A Party With a Lot of Baggage
Martha Stewart, Spike Lee, Jenna Lyons and Justin Theroux gathered for an event for Rimowa in Chelsea, the luggage brand to the stars.
By Guy Trebay
“Nothing has a vibe anymore,” Carlos Quirarte said last Thursday, quickly adding the disclaimer that “people use the word vibe, or whatever, way too much.’’
As a restaurateur and urban Pied Piper who, over the past decade, has turned one establishment after another — the Smile, Le Turtle, Ray’s, Jac’s on Bond — into outposts for a certain demographic of urban cool kids, Mr. Quirarte ought to know a vibe when he catches one.
So, too, should his ride-or-die, the actor Justin Theroux, who’d accompanied him that evening to a party celebrating an exhibition of, well, luggage.
On the face of it, an event built around some extremely stylish, fanciful, cleverly customized, costly suitcases (about $650 to $2400) holds limited promise. And yet, like so many other events in an era when real-life experience often takes a back seat to its digital doppelgänger, this one had it all.
Wherever one turned there were vitrines and backdrops and lighting calibrated perfectly for Instagram setups. Wherever one turned there were people absorbed in taking photos of … themselves.
“People are so busy trying to create FOMO for other people now that they’re not even where they are,” Mr. Quirarte said.
To be fair, the suitcases being celebrated weren’t any old random baggage. They were Rimowa. Designed and produced by a family-owned carriage trade company founded in Germany in 1898, Rimowa was a relatively obscure manufacturer for years until, in 2016, LVMH purchased a majority stake of the firm. Suddenly Rimowa took on the aura of an “It’’ bag — or maybe it’s more accurate to say “It’’ valise.
It is also a brand that, after LVMH bought it, forged collaborations with luxury logo behemoths like Moncler, Fendi, Supreme and Adidas and designers from Virgil Abloh to Kim Jones at Dior, who each rejiggered the luggage to their specifications.
Examples of these, and of many other collaborations, were installed throughout an exhibition — the occasion for the party — tracing the history of a business that began as a saddlery, evolved over time into a luggage brand and whose transformations paralleled shifts in how people moved about in the world and what they carried.
“I always loved them and I always wanted to get one because I was into having something that can go through JFK and LaGuardia and come out in one piece,’” said Spike Lee, who had joined the party and could be found lounging on a platform with, behind him, a Rimowa bag he lent to the show.
The bag was an aluminum Original Cabin style, made to tuck into an overhead compartment. Mr. Lee, as it turns out, rarely checks.
“I only do carry-on but mine is banged up anyway, and covered with stickers,” he said. “The more dings and stickers the better because, if you ain’t got stickers, you ain’t been nowhere.’’
Mr. Lee’s was just one among the celebrity bags displayed at the event and exhibition — inaugurated in Tokyo in June, it is open to the public here until Sept. 17 and will eventually go on to Shanghai. Billie Eilish sent along a see-through polymer overhead stuffed with her T-shirts. Martha Stewart’s big aluminum trunk had the names of countries and cities she has visited printed by hand between each ridged groove.
The party, held at the Chelsea Factory, spilled onto the sidewalk where the D.J. Benji B blasted hip-hop and a crowd that included the musician Moses Sumney, the designer Heron Preston, the K-pop singer Rosé from Blackpink, the British rapper Central Cee and the model and actor Luka Sabbat swigged from splits of Moet Champagne, silently mouthing the raunchy lyrics to “Ballin’” featuring Roddy Ricch and, yes, posing for selfies.
Or most were. In a corner outside, like a couple of delinquents cutting school, stood the artist Cass Bird with her girlfriend, Jenna Lyons, a newly minted star of “The Real Housewives of New York City,” taking a smoke break.
If anyone alive could make a case for having solid luggage and lots of it, Ms. Lyons is surely that person.
Those familiar with Ms. Lyons from her days as president and executive creative director at J. Crew and now as a reality star on Bravo, know that the woman loves clothes.
Asked whether she was a carry-on bag type, Ms. Lyons did a double take.
“Seriously?’’ she asked. “I have needs, I have product, I have outfits. My shoes alone are a whole suitcase. I’m rolling when I travel, believe me. And I check.’’

Here’s How to Get Her Style:
J.crew stretch secret wash cotton poplin shirt.
A layering staple, a striped button-down could be worn under dressier tops, but also clash it with printed pants.
The Attico Padded-shoulder Sequined T-shirt
Lyons appreciated traditionally “fancy” items and understood how to dress them down. To complete the look, opt for a white oxford shirt worn underneath and distressed jeans, of course.
Everlane The Dream Pant
An icon of the 2010s, the tailored pant adds polish to any casual item. For a Lyons-esque touch, pair yours with sneakers.
Hanes Men’s 3-Pack Crew Neck T-shirt
A t-shirt can be paired with just about anything, but we love how the softness of the oversize silhouette contrasts with a tailored trouser.
Adidas Stan Smith
We highly doubt anyone reading this article has not owned a pair of these at some point, but we encourage you to indulge in a bit of nostalgia and cycle them back into your collection (with tailored trousers always).

Though Lyons often paired her denim with stilettos, we think a dressy flat would suffice.

Jenna Lyons Reveals Her Rules for Holiday Gifting — and How You Can Shop Her Style Essentials! (Exclusive)
The Bravo star, who partnered with Klarna on a shoppable holiday gift guide, chats with PEOPLE about her fashion and beauty must-haves, plus what she'd give her fellow New York City Housewives
Slaven Vlasic/Getty
Anyone who watches The Real Housewives of New York City knows that Jenna Lyons has some serious gift-giving skills.
Yes, she's fully aware said quality has become quite the hot topic among her castmates and Bravo fans, for better or for worse (what's now become synonymous with the RHONY reboot is the lacey emerald-green slip dress Lyons gave to Jessel Taank , who lamented that the lingerie made her feel like a "Christmas tree").
Now, she's taking gifting to the next level by partnering with Klarna, a buy-now-pay-later platform with AI-powered shopping features, on a holiday gift guide with her favorite fashion, beauty and lifestyle finds.
“I'm proud of my gift-giving and I really do love curating and picking things for people. It’s hard and it’s so overwhelming during the holidays to figure out what to actually buy. I love when somebody drills it down and gives me a list," Lyons, 55, tells PEOPLE exclusively.
When curating her shoppable edit, which is available on her Klarna Creator Shop, Lyons made sure to include things that she would genuinely use in her everyday life.
That includes the $15 Sephora Collection matte red liquid lipstick that she “literally” wears all the time. The embellished mini satin Prada pouch is a must for the tastemaker too, because it provides just enough sparkle to take a look from ordinary to holiday-ready.
Lyons also wanted to include brands built on philosophies she believes in, and there are a few up-and-coming labels, such as Thakoon Panichgul's HommeGirls and women-founded businesses such as Charlotte Tilbury and Mejuri amongst her designer picks.
But, the edit truly has something for everyone and Lyons reveals which items she’d send off to her RHONY castmates (well, most of them) and executive producer Andy Cohen .
“I would give Andy the AMI Paris socks , I think that's a great one, and the Byredo Peyote Poem Candle to Brynn [Whitfield]. I would give the Mejuri x Jenna Lyons 14K Signet pinky ring to Ubah [Hassan] because I think she looks beautiful in gold, the HommeGirls boxy crop shirt to Erin [Lichy] because I think she could totally rock that. To Jessel, I would give the Tata Harper products because I know she loves skincare.”
Her top tips for gifting: Always give something you'd like to receive or consider something that is personal to the person on the receiving end.

Always keeping it real, Lyons tells PEOPLE that she loves to shop, but she's the “worst shopper on the planet” who has a “ridiculous” approach to getting her gift-buying done, which often leaves her with way too many backup presents and in "full-blown panic" mode.
But Klarna’s payment options, such as its 30-day setup — which allows users to essentially try before they buy, without the fees or interest — are going to be a big help in making her shopping experience a little more stress-free.
“What I might do is over-order but then actually be able to pick from the things as opposed to doing what I normally do, which is wait and then lose my mind," Lyons says.

Elsewhere on her holiday agenda, Lyons is prepared to fully immerse herself in the Christmas spirit.
She tells PEOPLE that she’s planning to put up her tree this month so that her home feels festive and warm. And, come December, she’ll start cooking mulled cider, which fills her home with the aroma of cinnamon apples, and partaking in one of favorite pastimes: baking Christmas cookies and making pavlovas. “I get really into it,” she says.

My List: Jenna Lyons
300 pairs of shoes, 3 minutes to get dressed, 14 pints of ice cream in the freezer... The J. Crew creative director's life by the numbers.
7:35 A.M. I wake up as late as I possibly can. The first thing I do is hit the snooze button. I love the snooze button—it's really a drug. I give myself maybe half an hour before I have to be out the door. One of my assistants gave me a T-shirt that says SORRY I'M LATE. After I'm up, I check my phone just to make sure that no emergencies have arisen, and then I pick out clothes for my son, Beckett. He definitely has a preference for cashmere—I've created a monster. Then I have coffee: strong, but half milk. I always drink it iced. My favorite thing in the world is coffee ice cream, so I try to get my coffee to taste as close to coffee ice cream as I can. I do my makeup in about five minutes, and I get dressed in about three minutes. I definitely don't have a work uniform. The idea of a uniform is like a slow and painful death to me. There is nothing I like more than getting dressed. Sometimes Beckett picks out my shoes. The only thing is, he's got a one-track mind. I have these flat shoes, Christian Louboutin, with spikes all over them. If left up to him, I would wear them far too frequently. I go with probably month rotations for my bags. Right now it's a Céline mirror-metallic bag. But honestly, the bigger the coat pockets, the better. I like not having a purse. For beauty products, I swear by this woman, Aida Bicaj. She does my facials, and she has this stuff, called Biologique Recherche, that's changed my facial life. Genetically, I was not gifted with good skin, so I need all the help I can get.
8:00 A.M. I take Beckett to school in Brooklyn and then head to the office. It's about an hour and 15 minutes all in. We take a car service, which is nice because I get the morning ride with him. At the moment he's doing this thing where I have to drop him off at the curb, and he's like, "Mommy, don't kiss me—it's embarrassing." I'm like, "What? You're six!" In the car I try to catch up on e-mails and make sure I see Women's Wear Daily and the New York Post—I get everything on my phone. I travel light, probably too light. I just have my wallet, my glasses, my keys, and my iPhone. That's it.
9:15 A.M. When I get to work, I usually touch base with my assistants, Nichole and Wendell, but they would tell you that's not the case. My preferred mode of communication is silence! I get probably 200-plus e-mails and more than 100 texts a day. I check my Instagram far too much, like in the middle of meetings, which I need to stop doing. It's so sad. The overarching theme here is no bullshit. The first day the intercoms were being installed at the J. Crew offices I was like, "What the hell is that?" But it's awesome. Mickey Drexler, J. Crew's CEO, is sort of like a fireball of kinetic energy; he has more energy than my six-year-old. He had the intercom installed, and he uses it mostly to make sure he can get someone immediately. He'll say, "Jenna, dial 001," and you know where-ever you are, even in the bathroom, you can hear you're being paged. Sometimes he just uses it to pipe in bad music. The other day he played "Come On Eileen," which he's really into. I hate that song. The idea of a uniform is like a slow and painful death to me. There is nothing I like more than getting dressed.
12:00 P.M. I eat in whatever meeting I'm in. I have between 10 and 18 meetings a day. It's a lot. Nichole is great about getting me lunch by noon, since I don't eatbreakfast. I have pretty much the same thing every day. I have such weird eating habits. I'll go for a year eating the same thing and then I'll switch. Right now I'm eating Cobb salad; last year it was tomato soup. Throughout the day I alternate between coffee and this apple, ginger, and lemon juice with cayenne pepper called the Killer.
6:00 P.M. I try to leave the office by 6. Beckett eats pretty early, so I'll usually eat with him as soon as I get home. His babysitter makes this incredible salmon with ginger, tomato, and cilantro. For some reason she is obsessed with me eating. Every time she makes it, the piece gets bigger and bigger. Last week I went home, and I swear to God it was like the Henry VIII platter of salmon. My evening life revolves around Legos and hide-and-seek. I try to reserve time to go out on the nights that Beckett is with his dad. Mostly I see friends and go to dinner. I just went to see the Rolling Stones; Mick Jagger was four feet away from me. His hips move in a different direction than the rest of his body—he's incredible. There is nothing more bizarre, though, than being at a concert and realizing everyone is your age and then realizing we're all really damn old. I usually go out with friends; sometimes Courtney [Lyons's partner] will come. I like to go out with just a few people at a time. I'm not good in giant group situations.
9:00 P.M. Beckett goes to bed around 9, and is asleep by 9:30. To unwind, I usually drink one too many cocktails. I love looking at magazines. I get every possible one. I read everything from fashion magazines to New York. It's a problem—I have stacks all over the house. I go through my e-mails and read or catch up on episodes of Girls. I don't have any pets. I kind of want a dog, but I really don't want dog hair. I collect all kinds of things. I easily own 300 pairs of shoes. And I have so many clothes; I have storage spaces full of clothes. One of my indulgences is good underwear. I collect beautiful underwear from places like Kiki de Montparnasse, Marni, and Prada. The problem is, they don't always look good under clothes. I have an insane collection of ice cream in my fridge. I love anything related to coffee ice cream. The espresso gelato from Ciao Bella is amazing. I eat a lot of ice cream, chocolate, and cookies, and I drink rosé champagne.
11:00 P.M. I do my shopping really late at night, at the computer. I'm a voracious shopper when I have the chance.
12:00 A.M. I always shower at night; I don't like getting wet in the morning. I go to sleep with wet hair, but I have like seven strands of hair, so it's fine. To me, being clean and getting into a beautiful bed is just the best thing in the world.
12:30 A.M . For pajamas, I have, like, 800 J. Crew T-shirts that I rotate and these amazing Kiki de Montparnasse boxer shorts. The thing that changed my life was really good sheets. I have this Sferra set that is kind of magical and these incredible white goose-down pillows. I have an amazing bed, a California king. I'm six feet tall. I sleep like I'm in a coffin, but I like to have a big bed. I have a gigantic sable bedspread, which is also kind of incredible—it's the most decadent thing I own. Every time I go to a hotel I miss my bed. As told to Christine Whitney
