Easter Jeep Safari Concepts 2023

For Jeepers, this is the best time of the year. Spring has arrived, and so has the Easter Jeep Safari (EJS). And with EJS comes this year’s crop of incredible concepts and product previews from Jeep. Every year, the brand manages to outdo itself, and this year is no different.

EJS is a week-long celebration of all things Jeep. Held since 1963, more than 20,000 people attended the event last year. It’s not an official Jeep brand event, but the company makes the trek to Moab along with its fans each year to celebrate the community.

This year, Jeep is bringing seven new concept vehicles to EJS — five that are like no Jeep on the road and two that hint at OEM upgrades that are likely to come to market soon.

2023 EJS Jeep Concepts

Now, let’s dive right into the 2023 EJS Jeep concepts.

Jeep Wrangler Magneto 3.0 Concept

Easter Jeep Safari Concepts 2023

This is Jeep’s third kick at the all-electric concept Wrangler can. Magneto 3.0 is also the last Magneto, Jeep said. Because by next year, there will be a production electric Jeep, the Recon . And Jeep’s head of design Mark Allen said that the company will be having a go at modifying that one as soon as possible.

Magneto 3.0 still has plenty of cool upgrades. Starting with a 2-door Wrangler Rubicon, Jeep cut the roof and stretched the door openings. The front door opening is now six inches longer, and the cool new B-pillar was pushed more than two inches rearward to fit the roll bar.

Easter Jeep Safari Concepts 2023

The custom-built electric motor has two settings. Mild, with 285 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque, and Maximum, that boots power to 650 horses and torque to 900 pound-feet. That torque figure is 50 higher than last year, and the power is still multiplied by a 6-speed manual gearbox taken from a Dodge Hellcat and then beefed up even more.

Seventy kilowatt-hours of battery are scattered in four packs around the EV. This year’s software updates give it 20 percent more range, though Jeep says this isn’t a range and charge speed exercise. It’s about using electricity to make a better off-road Jeep.

Dynatrac 60 front and 80 rear axles are fitted with 5.38:1 gearing. This year Jeep has added a new one-pedal “aggressive hill descent mode” to take full advantage of what the electric driveline can offer.

The electric motor turns 40-inch mud-terrain tires on 20-inch beadlock wheels. Magneto 3.0 has a custom 3-inch lift to make those meaty tires fit.

Jeep Scrambler 392 Concept

Easter Jeep Safari Concepts 2023

Jeep has built lightweight concepts for Easter Jeep Safari before. Concepts like Pork Chop, Stitch, and 4-Speed trimmed as much as half a ton from the Jeeps they were based on.

Scrambler 392 started as a 4-door Wrangler Rubicon 392 but was transformed into a 2-door. Jeep designers fitted rear bodywork from a Gladiator for a long-bed 2-door look. Then they laid back the windshield and lowered the roof, giving the rear all-new bodywork.

Easter Jeep Safari Concepts 2023

Under the paint, much of that bodywork is carbon fiber. The side blades, roof, and door openings are all made from the composite. The same goes for the front fenders and the hood. That helps Jeep cut 450 pounds from the Scrambler 392 concept, helping it get up and over rocks and other obstacles.

The new fenders and lightweight bumpers help the 40-inch tires fit in the arches. The 20-inch wheels and the tow hooks are painted in Brass Monkey, just like a standard Wrangler 392.

Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4xe Concept

Easter Jeep Safari Concepts 2023

When Jeep launched Tuscadero Pink in 2021, it expected around 3,000 orders. Turns out that Jeep really underestimated its customer base. The company had to extend pink production by a month and still couldn’t meet all of the demand.

Instead of another year of Tuscadero, Jeep is bringing a new pink to market. The chromatic magenta hue doesn’t have a name just yet, and it will still change a bit before production, but this Jeep is meant to get feedback on the brand’s next production pink. Let them know how you feel.

Easter Jeep Safari Concepts 2023

The other show-off on this Jeep is the new AccuAir air suspension kit. The kit, which is also on the Scrambler 392, can lift the Jeep from 1.5 to 5.5 inches on demand. Pop it up to get through deep water or over a tough rock, or drop it to duck under overhangs. Or lower it so it’s easier to get in and out.

Other small changes include a 20th Anniversary grille and custom graphics. It wears 37-inch tires on wheels from AEV , as well as front and rear bumpers from the off-road accessory company.

1978 Jeep Cherokee 4xe Concept

Easter Jeep Safari Concepts 2023

Jeep builds resto-mod concepts to try and inspire enthusiasts. The Cherokee 4xe is a 1978 Jeep Cherokee SJ that the company found on Craigslist for $2,500. It had a rough body and no engine, but Jeep didn’t want that old AMC mill anyway. Sorry, Jeep purists.

The Cherokee body was dropped on the chassis of a 2022 Wrangler Rubicon 4xe . That took some bodywork, like altering the wheel arches. Jeep’s designers and engineers added a ton of resto-mod-style upgrades, too, with plenty of new sheet metal. The front bumper is from a Wrangler Rubicon, and the rear is from a Gladiator.

Easter Jeep Safari Concepts 2023

Jeep’s intent was a modern take on the “Good Vibes” campaign Dodge ran in the 1970s, and it is right on the mark.

The rear of the Cherokee is stripped, and it has a graffiti-look ceiling. The glass is all gone to give it an open-air feel. The seats are wonderfully ’70s, there is a gas cap from an AMC Gremlin, and the dashboard is home to an 8-track player. Which, unfortunately, isn’t hooked up.

Grand Wagoneer Overland Concept

Easter Jeep Safari Concepts 2023

The first Easter Jeep Concept based on the new Grand Wagoneer is a bit of an overlanding condo.

Jeep’s team got hold of a RedTail Overland Skyloft hard-sided rooftop tent. Though, calling it a tent is an understatement.

The carbon fiber Skyloft is weatherproof and is heated. It has dual pane windows, an integrated diesel heater, and up to 380 watts of solar power. This level of fancy camping is just perfect for the Grand Wagoneer.

Jeep pulled out the second- and third-row seats. Then they removed the rear sunroof to make a sort of escape hatch. You can climb up through that hatch to get into the Skyloft.

Easter Jeep Safari Concepts 2023

The space where the seats were is now a lounge. It still has the Grand Wagoneer’s rear seat entertainment system. It also has two big beanbag chairs, a plush throw rug, and ambient lighting. It’s nicer (and larger) than my first three apartments.

Widened wheel openings and new flares help fit 35-inch tires on custom wheels. The larger tires raise the ride height an inch and a half. The Grand Wagoneer has a black Rhino-lined roof, and the body is painted in an industrial green.

Oh yeah, and the Grand Wagoneer has frickin’ laser beams! Jeep fitted laser-powered off-road lamps in the tweaked front bumper to light up the night.

Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4xe Departure Concept

Easter Jeep Safari Concepts 2023

Departure is the first of the two concepts that promote parts Jeep Performance Parts (JPP) might build. The Departure gets a cool new tubular spare tire mount that can flip. Turn the spare into the trunk for a better departure angle, and turn it out for more cargo space. Whichever you need.

The Departure concept also gets a new tubular grille guard. The guard quickly folds down to give you a four-foot bench seat for relaxing on the trail.

Easter Jeep Safari Concepts 2023

Windshield header-mount off-road lights fold upward on custom brackets. So they’ll still work with the window folded forward. There are rock lights at all four corners, JPP hard MOLLE panels in the roll bar, and new flat fender flares that hold bigger tires while staying street-legal for lighting requirements.

This one also has a Jeep Performance Parts 2.0-inch lift with Bilstein remote reservoir shocks. The 17-inch wheels wear 37-inch tires.

Jeep Gladiator Rubicon Sideburn Concept

Easter Jeep Safari Concepts 2023

Last but not least is the Sideburn concept. It gets the same 2.0-inch lift and shocks as Departure. It also has a folding grille guard bench and Warn winch .

Sideburn’s coolest bits are at the back. The sport bar is actually a two-tier cargo shelf. It’s made from carbon fiber and steel and has integrated steps to let you get to your stored gear. Eight tie-down loops let you lock in cargo totes.

Easter Jeep Safari Concepts 2023

The box sides are also super cool. Built-in MOLLE panels above and behind the arches give you more secure storage. There are integrated RotoPaX containers, too, letting you store liquids on the outside of the box. Other JPP bits include a heavy-duty vinyl floor system, side steps, grab handles, and half doors.

2023 Easter Jeep Safari Concepts

Jeep will bring all of the concepts to the trail at the 57th Annual Easter Jeep Safari on April 1-9. We’ll even get to drive them, so you can expect our up-close and personal take with more details and interior shots on these seven sweet rides very soon.

Jeep® Unveils Vacationeer Concept For 2024 Easter Jeep Safari

Nostalgic-themed concept, takes grand wagoneer to the overlanding trails....

Photo of Robert S. Miller

Jeep® enthusiasts and adventure seekers alike were treated to a spectacle at this year’s Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, Utah , as Mopar’s Jeep® Performance Parts (JPP) brand unveiled its latest creation: the Grand Wagoneer Vacationeer Concept, a premium SUV blending comfort, capability, and nostalgia in one formidable package. Although this year’s showcase featured four vehicles instead of the usual seven, the Vacationeer Concept more than made up for the numbers with its compelling design and feature set.

jeep safari

Exterior Design –

The Grand Wagoneer Vacationeer Concept boasts a refreshing Spearminted exterior, catching the eye with its distinct color choice. But it’s not just about looks; this SUV means business on and off the road. Equipped with 35-inch BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain tires and 18-inch x 9-inch bead grip 701 Method racing wheels , it offers a natural 1.5-inch lift for enhanced off-road performance. Custom bodyside flare extensions and larger wheel openings contribute to its aggressive stance, ensuring it stands out even in rugged terrain.

Interior Comfort and Innovation –

Inside, the Vacationeer Concept offers a luxurious and spacious retreat for both driver and passengers. The custom-trimmed and expanded interior space exudes premium comfort, with a nod to classic Jeep heritage through unique bodyside woodgrain graphics reminiscent of the iconic Wagoneer models from decades past.

To cater to adventurous spirits, the stock second- and third-row seats have been removed to make way for the custom carbon-fiber RedTail Overland Skyloft mounted on the roof. This climate-controlled oasis provides sleeping space for two, perfect for starry nights in the great outdoors. A custom weatherproof pass-thru entrance ensures easy access from the interior to the Skyloft, while a bed-lined cargo floor in the rear offers practicality and durability, ideal for storing outdoor gear or seeking refuge from the elements.

jeep safari

Performance and Power –

Underneath the hood lies the heart of the Grand Wagoneer Vacationeer Concept: a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter Hurricane high-output (H/O) I6 engine, delivering an impressive 510 horsepower and 500 lb.-ft. of torque. Whether conquering challenging trails or cruising along highways, this powerhouse ensures an exhilarating driving experience, promising both performance and efficiency for any journey.

Collaboration and Inspiration –

Notable in this concept is the collaboration with renowned fashion designer Kiel James Patrick , whose passion for Jeep Wagoneer shines through in the front Tupelo leather seats. Featuring custom fabric inserts with classic Jeep vehicles, the design pays homage to the brand’s rich heritage while infusing a touch of New England-inspired charm.

In Patrick’s own words, “The Jeep Wagoneer has been more than just a vehicle to me; it has literally been part of the fabric of my life.” His deep appreciation for Jeep’s legacy is evident in the meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail showcased in the Vacationeer Concept.

With the Grand Wagoneer Vacationeer Concept , Jeep continues to push the boundaries of innovation and adventure, offering a compelling blend of comfort, capability, and nostalgia. Whether exploring rugged terrain or embarking on cross-country journeys, this premium SUV stands ready to make every moment memorable.

What I Discovered at My First Easter Jeep Safari in Moab

By Kristin V. Shaw

Posted on Apr 16, 2022 11:17 AM EDT

If you stand on Main Street in Moab in the middle of April, someone driving a Jeep product will pass by approximately every 2.1 seconds. Moab is alive with Jeep juju, so it must be time for the annual Easter Jeep Safari , a week-long celebration of all things off-road. Thousands of people who are members of the church of slick rock crawl all over the routes that skirt around Arches National Park and obstacles with colorful names like Hell’s Revenge and Poison Spider. Every turn is magnificently carved by nature from cross-stratified Navajo sandstone.

This is my first Easter Jeep Safari , and I’m checking it off my mental bucket list with glee. After two flights broken up by a four-hour layover in Denver, I arrive at the Moab airport. It’s a tiny place with one gate in a compact terminal; the ground crew dumps all the luggage in one semi-flat outdoor bin after each flight. The airport is less than 20 minutes from downtown Moab, and I hop into a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 and fire up the V8 to get from there to the Hoodoo Moab Hotel.

Jeep’s “home away from home” is in the southeast quadrant of Utah, where red sandstone throws majestic shadows over the desert. The brand is very much at home here, and a substantial team flies in from Detroit to test out the newest crop of Jeep concepts. Easter Jeep Safari started out as a one-day affair in 1967, when the Moab Chamber of Commerce organized the event to attract tourists. Now, Jeep (and Jeepers) descends on Moab in force to drive on some of the toughest terrain Utah has to offer for off-roaders. While there, Jeep execs, product representatives, and engineers meet with customers who don’t pull any punches about what they like and don’t like about the brand’s vehicles.

Is this Heaven?

It is Holy Week, which means more than one thing to the people here. Red Rock 4 Wheelers , the club that leads the Easter Jeep Safari, calls Moab the “Mecca of four-wheeling” and there is the obvious reference to Easter Sunday, which marks the end of the event. Plus, during the Easter Jeep Safari there are a number of commandments to follow to keep the area as pristine as possible for generations to come.

jeep safari

“Don’t bust the crust!” is one of those directives, which means that you should avoid stepping on the cryptobiotic soil that serves as the desert’s delicate crust. Crypto, meaning ‘hidden’ plus biota, which means ‘life’ forms the base of the word that describes a microcosm of green-blue algae, lichen, moss, fungi, and other important life-giving substances.

A representative from the Bureau of Land Management gives us a stern talking-to about the flora and fauna of Moab and keeps a sharp eye on where the vehicles are putting their wheels. As I arrive in the top-of-the-food-chain Rubicon 392 in Sarge Green, she watches my feet when I dismount to make sure I’m not violating the ground beneath me. Throughout the week, Jeep is conscientious about how drivers treat the public land because it’s a unique, special place for testing and visibility.

Staying on the marked trails is also expected, and refraining from tailgating is a smart idea. Don’t be a jerk on the trail, basically.

Jeep Concepts Put to the Test

An array of concept vehicles is splayed out in front of me, including a few I have been eagerly waiting to see in person: the striking red-on-black D-Coder, a chopped Gladiator dubbed the Bob, and the all-electric Magneto 2.0. The first Magneto was on hand at the Easter Jeep Safari last spring , and while it looks very similar this year on the outside, the brand gave the concept a huge power boost. Now it makes 850 pound-feet of peak torque, which is more than three times the output of Magneto 1.0, and a staggering 625 horsepower.

Jeep boss Jim Morrison takes the co-pilot role as I climb into the front seat of the Magneto 2.0; it’s a big hop up into the EV, since it’s rocking 40-inch-tall tires mounted to 20-inch wheels. They’re massive. Morrison coaches me through a quick primer on using the unusual stickshift in the Wrangler concept, and we take off along the rocks. How a manual could possibly work in an electric vehicle requires a fairly detailed explanation, and since Caleb has already done that on The Drive , I don’t need to repeat it all. Check out his post here.

At this juncture, Morrison indicates that rowing your own Magneto won’t be an option for the masses. It’s too expensive to build.

Once I hop out of the Magneto, I’m ready to test out the Bob, named as such for the “bobbed” back end of a Gladiator. Luckily for me, off-road coach and Rebelle Rally champion Nena Barlow is available to drive with me and offer off-roading tips, and we wheel across the trail under the orange glow of the Bob’s canvas lid. This is one of my favorites, with its stumpy shape and brightly-colored accessories, and the Bob is a terrific host on the rocks.

Barlow, however, prefers the Industrial Blue Grand Cherokee Trailhawk 4xe . She appreciates the air suspension, sway-bar disconnect, and 20-inch metallic matte wheels wrapped in 33-inch BFG mud-terrain rubber. I like the custom upholstered seats with houndstooth inserts, which chief designer Mark Allen says is modeled after a jacket the late comedian Rodney Dangerfield would have worn.

Of course, I didn’t miss a chance to drive the Kaiser Jeep M725 concept, which started out as a 1967 Kaiser Jeep M725 military ambulance. Custom rock rails protect the body and it rides on 20-inch, eight-lug Black Rhino Armory wheels wrapped in 40-inch tires. As soon as I started it up, my face broke into an ear-to-ear grin. Yes, it off-roads, too.

The population of Moab was 5,366 at the 2020 census, and it swells to at least four times that size during the Easter Jeep Safari. If the Chamber of Commerce members who kicked this event off in 1967 could see it now, they’d surely be astonished and delighted that their idea worked so well. Hotels dot the landscape and Jeep tour companies like Nena Barlow’s are seeing steady work.

During Easter Jeep Safari, the general mood in town is of excitement and camaraderie; off-roaders exchange tips on routes and parts. Bilstein hosts a site and a number of wrapped vehicles tool around town, advertising the brand. BFGoodrich hosts a garage right on Main Street and it’s open to all. You bring the parts and they’ll fix just about anything for you, gratis, whether or not your vehicle is riding on any of the BFGoodrich brand tires . They’ll even swap out an engine if they have to, one of the mechanics told me. That’s pretty dang generous.

As I leave Moab, I stop at the local rocks and fossils shop for a souvenir in the hopes that it will hold me over until my next visit. I already can’t wait for 2023.

#1 Kanha National Park, Madhya Pradesh, India

Tiger in Kanha National Park on a Safari

India is home to seventy percent of the world’s tiger population, with the Bengal tiger population at 2226 during the last census in 2014. The state of Madhya Pradesh is India’s Tiger State; it is located a few hours south of Deli.

India offers one of the best Tiger spotting opportunities in the world, with over 50 Tier resorts called the “Tiger State.”

Kanha National Park in Madhya Pradesh is one of India’s most famous national parks due to its size. However, because of this size, one tries hard to get the tigers hoped for by every traveler also to face.  Unless one has nothing against the extremely questionable tiger show, where tigers are driven out of the undergrowth with the help of elephants, hordes of Indian families wait noisily with the car until the elephant is ready to carry the customers up to the tiger.

Apart from the waiting times, which can amount to up to 2 hours, this arrangement is for those really interested rather a farce animal protection can not function so! However the park is worthwhile also independently of its tigers. One should let oneself in simply on the species-rich fauna. A tiger sighting is not everything!

How to get there: Kanha National Park is situated in the southeastern foothills of the Satpura Mountains, almost 165 km southeast of Jabalpur.

The Bandhavgarh National Park is a national park in Madhya Pradesh, India. It covers an area of about 480 square kilometers and is located about 300 km south of Khajuraho in the Vindhya Mountains.  The park is considered one of the most reliable places to observe wild tigers.

The hilly landscape is dominated by a plateau on which once stood the fort of the Maharajas. Nearby are grasslands rich in game, originating from swamps once created to protect the fort. Some of these swamps still exist. Salt forests dominate the rest.

The best-known animal species in the park is the Bengal tiger, of which almost 50 animals lived in the park in 1997. The big cats are not shy and can be observed particularly well here.

A white tiger was caught in this area in 1957, whose offspring can be seen in zoos and circuses worldwide. Other predator species in the area include leopard, striped hyena, sloth bear, wild dog, reed cat, golden jackal, spotted musang, and Indian mongoose.

To make a difference today, raise awareness for these beautiful animals and join a Tiger Safari or Tour.

Even though the chances of tiger sightings in Satpura Tiger Reserve are not the highest, the park offers walking safaris, a unique way to experience wildlife .

This is a different kind of tiger sanctuary with many differences in altitude and gorgeous greenery, reminiscent of Robert Frost’s beautiful forests. There is a lot of wildlife here. It is undoubtedly an underestimated but wonderful place worth visiting. The drive to the place itself through the mountains is amazingly scenic.

How to get there: The Satpura Tiger Reserve, also known as Satpura National Park, is located in the Indian district of Hoshangabad in Madhya Pradesh.

Those who want to see a tiger in Ranthambhore with some certainty should have at least 2 days. Nevertheless, some luck belongs to it to get one of the striped big cats to face. It is an enormously exciting experience!

YouTube video

A great variety of animals live in the park. However, the park is famous for its Bengal tigers. These animals have shed much of their shyness. Thus, the chances are more than good to experience a wild tiger. These animals often appear here, even during the day, and do not hide behind bushes or in the forest. It can be well possible that suddenly a tiger runs over the way. Of course, they still have respect, this must also be.

The largest river in the park is the Ramganga, which flows into a large lake at the western border of the reserve. Broad valleys and hills characterize the landscape. A chain of hills runs east-west in the middle of the area.

The main form of vegetation is the saline forests; at higher altitudes, there are also some pine stands. In the lowlands, there are riverine forests, whose stands are interrupted by grasslands called “chaurs” by the locals. It is only open from November to June.

Get to know Tigers

tiger stalking

Tiger habitats are pretty diverse and can be found in more places than you’d think! They live in Siberia’s dense forests and roam Malaysia’s jungles. But things are not going well for these elegant cats of prey. Although the tiger has no natural enemies, it is threatened with extinction.

Because humans hunt it and destroy its habitat, which once stretched from the Caspian Sea to the Pacific Ocean.

Do you like Big Cats?  Have a look at the best places to see Lynx .

Tired tiger cub

There are six subspecies of tigers. Read about it at this Tiger Safari or Tour guide.

Fierce Hunters

YouTube video

All tigers need to survive are forests, water, and enough booty animals. The cats of prey are adaptable and can easily cope with significant temperature differences.

Although they are generally heavier than lions, they move more smoothly and agile. Tigers also feel comfortable in the water and are excellent swimmers. Tigers are solitary animals that roam the forests at night in search of prey. Then they hunt – depending on their habitat – moose, wild boar, tapirs, monkeys, or fish. The prey is killed with a targeted bite in the neck or throat. A full-grown animal , which rarely lives to be over 25 years old in the wild, needs up to nine kilos of food daily.

Tiger

Five tiger species are still in the wild today from the formerly nine subspecies. The largest of them is the Amur tiger. Adult males can weigh up to 300 kilograms and reach a height of three meters

It takes its name from the Russian river Amur, which flows through the Transbaikalia region of Siberia. The habitat of the Siberian tiger, as it is also called, originally stretched from Lake Baikal to the Sea of Japan.

Thousands were still hunting in the dense forests a hundred years ago. In the 1940s, there were only about 40 Amur tigers left. Today the population has recovered somewhat. Animal welfare activists estimate about 500 Amur tigers in the Russian East and on the border with China. Today they moved on to an area about half as big as Germany.

Tiger Endangerment

Tigers eye

A little more than a hundred years ago, there were still about 100,000 tigers living in large parts of Asia. There are still about 3900 animals; the Bali, Caspian, and Java tigers are extinct. Amazing animals for a Tiger Safari or Tour.

The South Chinese tiger is considered extinct in the accessible wilderness. According to the WWF species lexicon, experts assume that there are only a few isolated individuals, if at all. Therefore, the last hope of preserving the species lies in the few animals in Chinese zoos. The remaining five species now live in only 13 countries in Asia. Most of them are native to India, where it is estimated that there are about 1700 tigers.

The World Wide Fund For Nature ( WWF ) assumes that less than ten percent of the original habitat is left. The reasons are manifold. For example, mineral resources such as coal or oil are extracted in some regions. Deforestation of the rainforest is also a significant problem, as is the development of inaccessible areas by roads.

Poachers are also a great danger. They hunt the tigers because they can sell the big cats’ body parts well. Because claws, teeth, brain, and other parts are processed into medicine in traditional Chinese medicine and are in great demand. Hunting tigers as trophies have cost many animals their lives, especially in the last century.

The IUCN red list puts the Tiger status to endangered :

tiger Endangered

All major conservation organizations have established tiger conservation programs. Even the states where tigers live have declared themselves willing to do something against the extinction of the giant cat of prey on the earth. Read more about it in this article, Tiger Safari or Tour.

For example, protection zones are being set up, and rangers are being deployed to stop poachers, among other things.

Patches made of tiger bones also patches made of tiger bones are sought-after medicines.

But the environmental organizations are also trying to make a political difference. For example, they are working to ensure that mineral resources are extracted more sustainably. Tourists can also do something for species protection by not buying souvenirs or medicine from tigers.

The measures of the significant nature conservation organizations show at least small successes. The population is stable with the Amur tiger, and the Indochinese tiger can survive. But the danger that the most prominent big cat of the world dies out is still not banished by far.

How Dangerous are Tigers?

Panthera tigris

Approximately 100 people die every year due to attacks by tigers. Probably, humans are often to blame for this themselves because they provoke the animals.

For Tiger, a human being is a big animal. And when an animal is in its enclosure, the tiger wants to hunt it because he has an innate hunting instinct.

Nevertheless, some people can go into a tiger or lion cage without being attacked, for example, tamers in the circus. They know their animals well and are something like the leader.

That is why wild animals respect them. But if a trainer, for example, stumbles and loses his position of power, it can become dangerous even for him. Also, to strange tigers, he would not dare to enter the cage. By the way, in the wilderness, animals only rarely attack humans. If, for example, a shark hurts a surfer, it is only because he mistakes him for a seal. You can see this because, unlike its usual prey, it does not eat it.

Tigers in Zoos and National Parks

Tiger having fun on the grass

Wild animals make exceptionally high demands on their keeping and accommodation. In a circus enterprise, responsible keeping wild animals is generally impossible.

Nevertheless, animals of wild species can still be seen in many circus operations that travel around the world: Tigers, lions, elephants, rhinoceroses, giraffes, sea lions or monkeys – the range of animal species carried along is extensive. Wild animals suffer in the circus. They suffer massively, because:

  • Perform feats for which they are often trained by force,
  • Have to change venues 50 times a year on average,
  • Spend most of their time in small cages, inadequate enclosures, or in the transport wagon,
  • That essential species-specific behavior such as social contacts or movement are considerably restricted or made completely impossible,
  • that they have little variety or occupation,
  • that they are often not fed and cared for appropriately,
  • That veterinary control or care is often inadequate because there are only a few specialized veterinarians for wild animals nationwide or the circus cannot or will not afford the treatment financially,
  • that in many cases the circus operators lack the necessary expertise,
  • that there is no fixed winter quarters during the play-free period. Only about every tenth company can call a winter accommodation its own.

The consequences for the animals are fatal: Massive damage to their health, severe behavioral disorders, and increased mortality.  This Tiger Safari or Tour guide should highlight only sustainable places to go.

Summary of Tiger Safari

tiger safari park

Gelendzhik safari park. Image via Alexxx1979, CC BY-SA 3.0 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0, via Wikimedia Commons

The tiger is the largest and, at the same time, heaviest species from the cat family. Of nine known subspecies, only six live with the Bengal tiger, the Indochinese tiger, the Malaysian tiger, the Siberian tiger, the South Chinese tiger, and the Sumatran tiger.

The main reason for the substantial decline of the tiger population is and remains the hunting by humans. The organs of the tiger are considered remedies in Chinese medicine. On the illegal black market, products made of tiger powder achieve prices of many thousands of Euros.
