TUS50 out of stock post your review. I have ordered a TUS35 as a prospective walking around. And day to day uke. A Timms and a Flea were my UAS targets for the year (on top of my second soprano build) , but if the TUS35 is 90% as good as your review TUS50 I'll be delighted. Thanks for bringing these travel ukes to my attention Baz.  

No worries - yes - they got in touch to say they had unprecedented rush today. A store called Musicroom and Amazon still have stocks of these I believe though! Think I’ll buy one for my daughter. Thanks for kind words.  

I wish they made these in a concert size! A trip through their website seemed to only show sopranos in this configuration!  

I believe so. Same template as the Alic / Mahilele models - only soprano. The bonus though is the 35mm nut and 15 frets - so more space than many concerts of this price.

If they have a good product! You'd think so. Surprisingly, some brands actively don't want to appear... Makes you think what they are worried about. I've featured a few Flight ukes - some better than others - one thing I like about them is that they are not afraid for a real review to tell it like it is - good or bad. That to me shows a brand who gives a damn.  

I wish Flight carried this one in the USA. Shipping charges make the instrument not as good of a bargain as it is for those of you in the EU and UK. I suppose that’s fair—you didn’t get the $29 Enya last year. Also missing in the US is that inexpensive Tiger ukulele case that you reviewed.  

Yep - swings and roundabouts. Lot's we dont get in the UK either (or that we do, but are massively inflated in price like the Romero Creations ukes and Martin instruments generally!)

Not quite the same as I think only Flight offer the walnut top. Prefer the Flight headstock shape too!

My TUS35 arrives this afternoon. First impressions are ... I'm very very impressed. It sounds great, decent sustain and it's surprisingly loud. I'm off for a group session this evening. I can see me moving on my kala long neck soprano based on a 1 in 1 out per 'type of uke". For 30 odd euro delivered this is might be a phenomonal piece of kit. Thanks baz.

Flight TUS50 looks and sounds great, but it has a compensated saddle. As a lefty, I would need to flip the strings (don't suggest otherwise - this is what works for me). Would that saddle cause any issues?

HNY Baz. I have owned, donated and given away a half dozen Tus sopranos and tuc concerts. My yellow Tus soprano was a favourite. I found that I preferred the sound of the standard length soprano over the long neck version and the concert overall and to the Enya Nova soprano. Going to all plastic like Enya is interesting. It seems to sound somewhere in between the brighter Enya and somewhat deeper Tus soprano. I do like the texture and feel of the Enya so emulating them in this new model is “as you Brits say” ‘brilliant’. 😊

Anyone tempted to buy the Flowers pattern - zoom in on the pix on the website. It’s been grungified, supposedly to look ‘antique’. Just looked dirty to me when I got it out of the bag, it’s like it’s been daubed with purple, or badly screen-printed. Of course, you may love the look but just seems to have spoilt the pattern to my eyes.

is the G to A spacing center to center? or outside to outside?

I try to do it outside to outside but subject to tolerance of measuring tool. To be honest, I'm not sure it makes much difference - fraction of a millimetre

The Flight Ultra Soprano Ukulele is made of polycarbonate reinforced plastic, welded together with an ultrasonic process.  The ukulele has an ultra-thin lattice-braced soundboard, creating one of the loudest plastic-based ukuleles on the market.

Molded neck and fingerboard

The neck and fingerboard of the Flight Ultra Soprano Travel Ukulele are made from the same polycarbonate reinforced plastic as the rest of the ukulele.  The material is resistant to changes in temperature and humidity, and has excellent action.  Say goodbye to sharp fret ends and warped necks!

Walnut is a fascinating Heartwood, preferred by luthiers for both its malleability and beauty. Walnut is stiffer and denser than mahogany, so its tone is brighter, as bright as koi. However, open grains allow for a more present midrange that splits the difference between rosewood and mahogany. And on top of that - it looks great! The beautiful grain, paired with Flight hand-drawn Salamander design is already winning many admirers the world over! The neck and fingerboard of the Tus50 are made from ABS plastic. It is a perfect solution for entry class ukuleles, since it is not prone to any weather changes. You will never get a sharp fret or bent neck in any of our travel ukuleles. The neck surface imitates the wood pattern, to avoid a feeling of cheap plastic. Zero fret paired with unique bridge construction keeps the string action low and intonation on point. Since the plastic is never going to move, you will never have to deal with any additional work on the saddle. Headstock design is an integral part of our identity. The headstock veneer of Tus50 is made of walnut to match the top. All Flight ukuleles feature a carefully-designed headstock fitted with geared tuners that will always stay in tune.
