Methodology
Best overall : disney’s beach club resort.
Courtesy of Trip Advisor
This resort on Crescent Lake is close to Epcot and Hollywood Studios and has a signature water park for children and adults.
Fitness center, children's activities, water park, complimentary bus and boat service to and from parks
Close to Epcot and Hollywood Studios
Several restaurants on property
Prime Epcot fireworks viewing
Lacks Disney-themed decor
Inspired by the elegance of the New England coast, this resort features a nautical color scheme and has its own beach, where guests can have some fun in the sun. The hotel is on Crescent Lake, next to Disney’s Yacht Club Resort and directly across the water from the BoardWalk dining and shopping district. It’s only a five-minute walk to Epcot’s International Gateway and a 20-minute walk to Hollywood Studios. Don’t feel like walking? Hop on the Friendship Boat, which stops at the Crescent Lake resorts, Hollywood Studios, and Epcot.
The Beach Club Resort is home to a few popular dining options, like Beaches & Cream, where guests can try one of the best desserts at Disney World , the popular Kitchen Sink (scoops of five types of ice cream covered with every in-house topping), or Cape May Cafe, which has a breakfast and dinner buffet and sometimes gets visits from Minnie Mouse, Daisy Duck, and Goofy.
The pools are where this resort knocks the others out of the water, though. While there are three quiet pools, most people opt for the main water park area, Stormalong Bay, which features a lazy river and a 230-foot waterslide built atop a replica of a shipwreck.
Best Budget : Disney’s Pop Century Resort
This hotel provides the Disney decor guests know and love at a fraction of the price of other resorts.
Children's activities, complimentary bus and Skyliner gondola service to and from parks, quick-service dining options, laundry services
Over-the-top decor
Newly renovated rooms
Fun pool complex
Limited dining options
Far from the Magic Kingdom
Crowded with large groups
Traveling to Walt Disney World with a large party, or simply don’t want to spend too much on a Walt Disney World room ? Then it’s Disney’s Pop Century Resort to the rescue! The hotel’s affordable rates make this a great option for larger parties, and a quick-service food court means you won’t run up a gigantic tab feeding everyone.
Families will love the chance to watch their favorite Disney films under the stars while cooling off in the Hippy Dippy Pool, and parents will get a kick out of the larger-than-life statues of nostalgic ‘90s classics like an Etch A Sketch and a Rubik’s Cube.
Many rooms at Disney’s Pop Century Resort recently underwent a renovation, transforming the once dated rooms with new lighting fixtures, Murphy beds, and artistic decor. While this resort is great for those on a budget, it does come with trade-offs. There aren’t any parks within walking distance and there are no sit-down restaurants.
Best Luxury : Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
A classic Walt Disney World resort, the Grand Floridian exudes luxury in everything from its decor to its dining.
Spa; fitness center; children's activities; complimentary bus, boat, and monorail service
Numerous restaurants
Live music in the lobby
Prime location for viewing Magic Kingdom fireworks
Long walk from main building to rooms
Less family-friendly than other resorts
Long waits for buses
If you’re taking a trip to Disney World to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, consider some rest and relaxation at the luxurious Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Its full-service spa offers massages, manicures, pedicures, haircuts, and other treatments that’ll get you ready for a night out at Disney Springs’ popular bars and clubs or one of the resort's signature restaurants, like Cítricos, Victoria & Albert’s, or Narcoossee’s.
While this hotel isn’t as kid-friendly as others, it does have the main pool located next to the beach that overlooks Seven Seas Lagoon and a tiny water playground with water toys and slides as well. There’s no need to journey to the Magic Kingdom to view its fireworks, as they’re visible from the resort; though when you do want to head to the park, it’s just a short walk, monorail ride, or boat trip away.
Best Family : Option Disney’s Art of Animation Resort
Courtesy of Disney
Disney’s Art of Animation resort has connecting rooms for large parties and larger-than-life statues inspired by popular Disney movies.
Children's activities, arcade, Walt Disney World’s largest pool, complimentary bus and Skyliner service, laundry service, pet-friendly
Fun decor for kids
Buses run directly to theme parks
Large food court
More expensive than other value resorts
Only quick-service dining options
Some rooms are far from main building
A Disney vacation is all about fun for the whole family , and Art of Animation nails it. With four different wings (“The Lion King,” “Cars,” “The Little Mermaid,” and “Finding Nemo”) featuring gigantic statues and bright colors, the resort fully immerses guests in the world of Disney movies. Most of the rooms here have been refurbished and are great for larger parties. The resort is also home to the largest pool at any Walt Disney World hotel. The Big Blue Pool is a great place for kiddos who like to swim and for the whole family to cool off and relax.
While there’s only one quick-service dining option available, the food on the menu is slightly elevated compared to that at other value resorts, earning the hotel some extra points. When it comes to transportation , guests can use the bus or Skyliner to get between resorts and parks in no time.
Best Views : Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge
You don’t have to be on safari to wake up to giraffes and zebras outside your window—just book a Savanna View room at Animal Kingdom Lodge.
Fitness center, children's activities, spa, complimentary bus service, playground, arcade
Views of animals from some rooms
Buses run directly to theme parks
Top-tier restaurants
Not within walking distance of any parks
Spotty cell service
Staying at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is like having a zoo right outside your window, as the resort provides views of more than 200 animals and birds. The rooms have an outdoorsy feel, with lots of woodwork and dark hues, and their large size makes them ideal for families.
When it’s time to eat, Animal Kingdom Lodge has both quick-service and table-service restaurants . For a more formal meal, opt for Sanaa (try its popular Indian-Style Bread Service appetizer, with naan, paratha, and nine accompaniments) or Jiko to experience the wonderful flavors of Africa.
While this hotel is a bit far from the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and Hollywood Studios, it’s just a five-minute bus ride to Animal Kingdom, so it’s great for explorers and animal lovers who want to be close to the park.
Best for Business : Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort
Courtesy of TripAdvisor
Not everyone who goes to Disney World is on vacation, and this hotel is great for anyone visiting for business or a conference.
Convention center, fitness center, spa, complimentary bus and Skyliner service, dry-cleaning service
Ideal for business travelers
Caters to adults
Rooms are far from main building
Not as kid-friendly
Looking for a Disney World hotel with an affordable price and nice amenities? Disney’s Coronado Springs is a popular mid-range resort and features a blend of Spanish, Mexican, and Southwest American touches. It’s well known for its convention center and has a business center where guests can work and print documents.
When it comes to food, guests will find a few table-service and quick-service options, like Toledo and Maya Grill. The hotel’s best feature is the big Lost City of Cibola pool, which boasts a 50-foot pyramid centerpiece and the largest hot tub on Disney property.
Like other resorts, the hotel has a complimentary bus service to and from the parks. However, Coronado Springs has multiple stops within the resort, so taking the bus can be more time-consuming depending on where you board.
Best for Food : Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is home to numerous dining options, providing lots of variety for different taste buds.
Fitness center; children's activities; complimentary bus, boat, and monorail service; powerboat rentals
Monorail stop
Two outdoor pools
Spectacular views of Magic Kingdom fireworks
Some rooms are far from the lobby
Far from Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom
The right meals can help you get through those long days in the Florida sun. While other Disney World hotels have standard burgers, chicken nuggets, and sandwiches, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is home to more flavorful options like ʻOhana’s (known for its bread pudding), Kona Café (popular for its macadamia nut pancakes), and Capt. Cook’s (home to Thai coconut meatballs and Tonga Toast). The resort is also the location of Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto, one of the most popular themed bars on Walt Disney World property, where guests can order small appetizers and signature drinks like Krakatoa Punch and HippopotoMai-Tai.
The resort’s Lava Pool has a waterslide and a deck that offers picturesque views of Seven Seas Lagoon, Cinderella Castle, and the nightly Magic Kingdom fireworks. Conveniently, the resort is just two monorail stops away from the Magic Kingdom.
Best for Transportation : Disney’s Contemporary Resort
No trip to Disney World is complete without a visit to the Magic Kingdom, and this hotel is just a 10-minute walk away and a short monorail ride from Epcot.
Fitness center, children's activities, complimentary bus and monorail service, powerboat rentals
Closest resort to the Magic Kingdom
Prime views of Magic Kingdom fireworks
Not as kid-friendly
The Magic Kingdom is the most-visited theme park in the world, and this hotel gets you to the magic quickly, with its short hotel-specific walkway to the park and monorail stop. It’s close enough that, if you need a break from the heat and the crowds, you can easily return here for a quick meal or nap before heading back out for more fun.
The hotel is on the more expensive side, but it does have a variety of dining options, like California Grill, Steakhouse 71, and Chef Mickey’s (a top Disney breakfast destination ). At night, guests enjoy a superb view of the Magic Kingdom fireworks, which have synchronous audio to enhance the experience.
Walt Disney World’s wide range of resorts means that families, foodies, and business travelers can all find accommodation that’s a good fit. Disney’s Beach Club Resort provides the best combination of location, amenities, recreation, and dining. If you’re seeking a Walt Disney World experience suitable for the whole family, then the renovated rooms, impeccable design, and convenient transportation of Disney’s Art of Animation Resort make it the place to stay. For a more luxurious vacation, opt for the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, which is only one monorail stop from the Magic Kingdom and has top-notch amenities.

16 Disney Good Neighbor Hotels and Off-Property Hotels
Posted on Published: 05/29/2024
When you plan a Disneyland or Walt Disney World Resort trip with your family, you’ll be faced with many options for where to stay. Most families know about the on-property Disney hotels, but there are also so many options for off-property hotels.
To make things more confusing, some of these hotels have been designated Disney Good Neighbor Hotels, or are located on Disney property. Here’s our guide to understanding Disney Good Neighbor Resorts and other off-property hotels as well as some great options to consider.
Disclosure: We’ve stayed at some of these hotels at no cost and some at our own cost. All opinions are my own. This post contains affiliate links. A purchase/click through one of these links may result in a commission paid to us at no additional cost to you.
Our affiliate Get Away Today offers some great deals on Walt Disney World and Disneyland vacations, including hotels, park tickets, etc. We have booked our last two Disneyland stays with them and have always been very happy with their service.
Note: Before booking a hotel on this list, check directly with the hotel to confirm the Good Neighbor Designation and find out what the current benefits are.
Understanding Disney Good Neighbor Hotels and Other Off-Property Hotels
What are the disney good neighbor hotels.
When you are booking your off-property Disney hotel for your Walt Disney World vacation, you may see the designation “Disney Good Neighbor Hotel”. This designation is offered at both the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida and the Disneyland Resort in California.
Good Neighbor Hotels aren’t official Disney hotels, and they aren’t located directly on the Disney property. However, they can be a great option for families with some offering suites, complimentary breakfast, shuttle services, and more.
If you are considering a Disney Good Neighbor Hotel, know that they’ve been vetted by Disney for high standards. They will need to provide information on-site about Walt Disney World or Disneyland, will have a guest services desk that helps you with your Disney vacation and sells Disney World tickets for the theme parks, and will offer transportation to the parks (or are within walking distance, in the case of Disneyland).
Keep in mind, however, that you may have to pay extra for this transportation – they just have to provide a shuttle service, not a complimentary shuttle service.
These non-Disney hotels are also separate from theme parks and are off-site hotels, so you’ll either need to take the shuttle or rent a car. Good Neighbor Hotels do typically offer transportation to the parks, but there may be a fee, and you will have to follow their schedule. They are local hotels but aren’t necessarily that close to the parks.
Why Stay at a Disney Good Neighbor Resort?
There are lots of great reasons to stay at a Disney Good Neighbor Resort (both Disneyland Good Neighbor Hotels and Walt Disney World Good Neighbor Hotels), however. You’ll know that these hotels have been vetted, so they will definitely be high-quality family-friendly resorts, where most of the guests are also planning to visit the theme parks. These typically aren’t business hotels and you may even be able to get a family suite.
In addition, many of these resorts offer kitchens/kitchenettes and larger rooms, and may have suites that give families more room to spread out. Some of them may also have free breakfasts, so you can save money. If you have a kitchen, you can even prepare some meals in your room.
Recently, I had the opportunity to stay at the Embassy Suites Orlando-International Drive South/Convention Center , and had just a nice, comfortable stay. This Disney World Good Neighbor Resort is conveniently located right on International Drive and offers suites with a living room and separate bedroom, as well as affordable prices.
These suites at the Embassy Suites give families more room and privacy. There’s a table in the room, as well as a microwave and mini-fridge. The resort has free breakfast, as well as an evening reception with drinks and snacks. This property offers both an indoor and outdoor pool and a hot tub.
I also had the chance to tour the Homewood Suites by Hilton Orlando Theme Parks , another Walt Disney World Good Neighbor Hotel. This suite hotel offers free breakfast daily, a manager reception on several evenings per week, and kitchens in the rooms. Guests can get grocery delivery, to make it easier to prepare meals. It’s also close to Univeral Studios.
The Disney Swan and Dolphin Hotels
The Swan and Dolphin Resorts (along with the Swan Reserve ) can be a great option for families. These two sister resorts are often confusing for guests because they are located right on Disney property, but aren’t Disney on-property resorts.
Located by the Boardwalk area at Walt Disney World, the Swan, and Dolphin utilize Disney transportation to and from the parks.
Guests staying at the Swan and Dolphin can’t use MagicBands to get into their rooms or charge things to their hotel accounts. The resorts are gorgeous, with great amenities, and the guest rooms are very comfortable. They are also within very close proximity to the Disney Boardwalk, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and EPCOT.
If you do decide to stay at these hotels, it’s important to know that these resorts are more convention/adult-oriented. While they are definitely kid-friendly, they don’t have the fun themes that the on-property Disney resorts have. Despite that, they can definitely be a great option and a good combination of on and off-property benefits.
Guests at these resorts can take advantage of early entry one of the best current Disney perks. With Early Theme Park Entry, guests at on-site resorts, as well as select off-property resorts, can visit 30 minutes prior to park opening.
The Disney Springs Area Resorts
There are also seven Disney Springs area resorts, that are located by Disney Springs and offer benefits to guests. These seven resorts are the following ( check prices and compare here ):
- B Resort and Spa
- Best Western Lake Buena Vista
- Drury Plaza Hotel Orlando
- DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Orlando
- Hilton Orlando Buena Vista Palace
- Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista
- Holiday Inn Orlando
- Wyndham Garden Lake Buena Vista
Additional Hotels at Walt Disney World
There are other hotels at Walt Disney World that you may consider. These hotels are within the gates of Walt Disney World but aren’t owned or operated by Disney.
Included in this group are the Signia by Hilton Bonnet Creek Resort, the Waldorf Astoria, the Four Seasons Resort Orlando, the JW Marriott Orlando Bonnet Creek, and the Wyndham Grand Hotel Bonnet Creek.
We stayed at the Signia by Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek for one stay and really enjoyed it. The property offers a lazy river and pool area, as well as multiple restaurants. A shuttle takes you to Walt Disney World theme parks as well as Disney Springs.
Early Resort Entry
In addition to the Walt Disney World resort hotels, some (but not all) Good Neighbor Hotels offer Early Resort Entry to their guests. With Early Resort Entry, you can enter the park 30 minutes in advance of the official opening time. You can find the full list of participating hotels here .
Have you stayed at a Disney Good Neighbor Hotel or another off-property hotel affiliated with Disney?

Disneyland vs. Disney World: How to choose which resort is right for you
Are you a Marvel fan? Star Wars buff? Just need a weekend getaway? Here's how to pick the right destination for your family.
- Brooke McDonald
- January 22, 2022
A Disney vacation finds its way onto most travel bucket lists at some point, and if you’re ready to start planning yours, you’ll probably be faced with one big decision upfront: Disneyland vs. Disney World.
Unless you live very close to either the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, or Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida, you’ll want to check out all that’s unique about both destinations before choosing where to head for your Disney trip.
MORE: 15 free spring break activities to do with your kids
Depending on your interests — Do you love Star Wars, Marvel or Pixar? Is a great pool or immersive hotel your top priority? — one of America’s two Disney destinations may clearly be a better choice for you. Here’s how to decide which House of Mouse is best for your big trip.
Disneyland vs. Disney World: Visit Disneyland if …
You’re short on time.
With two theme parks — Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure — just a stone’s throw apart and the Downtown Disney District and Disneyland Resort’s three hotels all within walking distance, you can get a lot more done in a hurry at Disneyland without wasting time on transportation.
MORE: 18 items you need for a Disney vacation
To really maximize your time, get Park Hopper Tickets (which allow you to move freely between the two parks each day) and purchase Disney Genie+ . The latter feature is Disney’s replacement for the old FastPass+ and MaxPass services, and gives you Lightning Lane access and the opportunity to bypass the standby lines on many of Disneyland’s most popular rides.
You’re a Disney History Buff
A cultural icon since it opened on July 17, 1955, Disneyland isn’t just a vacation destination, it’s a piece of modern American history .
Take a nostalgic stroll past Walt Disney’s apartment, which sits above the fire station where a lamp still shines in the window for the park’s beloved founder, then meander back in time down turn-of-the-century Main Street, U.S.A. Ride iconic opening-day attractions like Jungle Cruise, Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride and Peter Pan’s Flight, classic boat rides like Pirates of the Caribbean and It’s a Small World, and the park’s most famous thrill rides, like Matterhorn Bobsleds, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Space Mountain.
You Love Seeing Characters
Once the hallmark of a Disney vacation , character meet-and-greets have been some of the slowest offerings to return to normal operations at Disney’s theme parks during the COVID-19 era. Although you still can’t get as close to your favorite characters as you used to, Disneyland and Disney California Adventure both take the cake over Walt Disney World when it comes to the plethora of character appearances that happen all day long throughout both parks.
While you can’t get those hugs or autographs you might remember, you can still interact with characters — including many unique and rare favorites — and they’ll pose for plenty of photos with you (only slightly distanced).
You’re a Marvel Fan
If the Marvel Cinematic Universe is your jam, Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure is the place to assemble. Opened in June 2021, this new land buzzes with energy (and that iconic Avengers soundtrack) and teems with characters and entertainment. Aspiring superheroes can get training tips from the Dora Milaje warriors from “Black Panther,” watch Spidey soar through the air in a spectacular stunt show, visit Dr. Strange’s mysterious Ancient Sanctum and spot countless other MCU characters .
Rides include the new all-ages Web Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure and the fan-favorite Guardians of the Galaxy — Mission: Breakout. You can also grab a bite at Pym Test Kitchen (warning, parts of your meal may be super-sized or super-small, depending on how Hank Pym’s experiments are going!).
You Love Pixar Movies — Especially ‘Cars’
Disney California Adventure Park is home to one of Disney’s most impressive and immersive lands at any Disney theme park in the world. Cars Land so perfectly recreates Radiator Springs, the setting for the first of Pixar’s “Cars” films, you’ll swear you’ve stepped into the film. You can meet Lightning McQueen and Mater, chow down on Chicken “Fenders” at Flo’s V8 Cafe and ride Radiator Springs Racers, one of the most impressive rides Disney has ever imagineered.
Around the corner from Cars Land, Pixar Pier is another spot at Disney California Adventure for lovers of the beloved studio. Ride the thrilling Incredicoaster, play 3D carnival games on Toy Story Midway Mania or take an aerial spin on the Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind and enjoy a meal at Lamplight Lounge. The Pixar-themed restaurant serves great food and Pixar-themed cocktails and is packed with Easter eggs from the movies at every turn.
Disneyland vs. Disney World: Visit Walt Disney World if…
You’re a planner.
With four theme parks, two water parks, more than 25 Disney resort hotels and countless restaurants and experiences to choose from, planning a trip to Walt Disney World means making a lot more decisions. But, if you’re a planner at heart, that’s part of the fun! In fact, research has shown that the process of planning a vacation can actually boost your mental health .
Disney World’s Disney Park Pass reservation system requires guests to book a reservation for the first park they plan to visit each day, and dining reservations open up 60 days in advance, so you’ll have lots of decisions and plans to make long before your plane touches down in Orlando. Note: Disneyland also requires theme park reservations and dining reservations are also highly recommended, but with fewer hotels, restaurants and theme parks to manage, there are far fewer factors to consider there.
You Want to Stay Immersed All Trip Long
At roughly 40 square miles — nearly the size of San Francisco! — Walt Disney World is one massive, magical playground. From the moment you pass under the resort’s iconic gates, you’re “on property” and very firmly on vacation. In stark contrast to Disneyland — where moments after leaving the park gates you can find yourself staring down chain restaurants, liquor stores and urban hubbub — you could travel for miles after leaving Disney World’s Magic Kingdom Park and remain in the Disney World bubble.
And with so many hotels, restaurants and entertainment options on Walt Disney World’s property, you truly don’t need to leave until it’s time to go home. Palm trees, beautiful grounds and resorts, consistent signage and diligent theming all help to solidify the feeling that you’re in a special place, far removed from the stifling atmosphere of the everyday.
You Want to Stay at a Themed Disney Hotel
This is a big one for travelers on a budget. While Disneyland Resort does have three official Disney hotels, each with its own immersive theming, even the lowest-tier Disneyland option, Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel, is liable to break the bank at most times of year. On the flip side, Walt Disney World boasts more than eight times as many hotels, with options for every budget.
Choose from Value-, Moderate- or Deluxe-tier resorts, all with their own elaborate theming and plenty of Disney touches, from the Pop Century Resort and Art of Animation Resort at the Value level, to the Port Orleans Resort and Caribbean Beach Resort at the Moderate level, to the Polynesian Village Resort, Riviera Resort and Wilderness Lodge at the Deluxe tier. Every Disney World resort features themed pools and dining options and includes transportation to and from the parks.
You Love Star Wars
If you’ve always dreamed of traveling to a galaxy far, far away, this is the vacation destination you’re looking for. Both Disneyland and Walt Disney World are home to the epically immersive new land, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge , and Disney’s most ambitious attraction ever created, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. But diehard fans will want to take their experience truly out of this world by adding a two-night experience aboard Disney World’s Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser .
Way more than a simple hotel , Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser gives guests the illusion that they’re on a “space cruise” on the Halcyon starcruiser. Guests blast off on their adventure to a galaxy far, far away via a “launch pod” and will spend two days and two nights channeling their inner Light or Dark Side as they rub shoulders with members of the Resistance and First Order. The immersive itinerary includes live entertainment, lightsaber training, role playing, elaborate themed dining and a special excursion to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios park.
You Want to Visit Truly Unique Parks
While Disney parks around the globe feature their own versions of the Magic Kingdom, with its castle centerpiece and iconic themed lands, two of Walt Disney World’s four theme parks, EPCOT and Disney’s Animal Kingdom , offer experiences you won’t find at any other Disney resort.
EPCOT’s World Showcase takes guests on a trip around the world, with immersive pavilions representing different countries and cultures through architecture, food and drinks, entertainment and even rides like the brand new Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure in EPCOT’s France pavilion.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom, meanwhile, is one of Disney’s most beautiful theme parks, with breathtaking areas representing Asia, Africa, the mythical Pandora from “Avatar” and more. Animal lovers can’t miss Kilimanjaro Safaris, an open-air excursion on an African savanna packed with real animals. This is the closest you’ll get to an African safari without needing a passport.
You Want to Do More Than Just Visit Theme Parks
Walt Disney World has so much to offer beyond the resort’s four theme parks that you could easily fill a vacation with activities without ever setting foot in a theme park. Walt Disney World is home to four stunning golf courses , including one, Lake Buena Vista Golf Course, that backs right up to two of Disney World’s Deluxe resorts, Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa and Disney’s Old Key West Resort, so hardcore golfers may want to consider a stay at one of those. You can also practice your putts at Fantasia Gardens and Fairways Miniature Golf and Winter Summerland Miniature Golf .
To beat the Florida heat while logging theme park-level thrills, guests can visit one of Disney World’s two elaborately themed water parks, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park and Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park . Guests can ride a chairlift up the “mountain” before plunging down Summit Plummit at Blizzard Beach or hone their surfing skills in North America’s largest wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon. The all-ages water parks feature numerous family-friendly water slides and other attractions to keep everyone cool and happy.
You’re Into Long-Distance Running
Whether you’re a hardcore runner or just want something to train for, runDisney offers four action-packed race weekends at Walt Disney World. Featuring events ranging from a 5K to a full marathon, there’s a distance for every athlete. Themed races feature music, entertainment and character stops along the way and participants get bragworthy race shirts and finisher medals.
You could easily plan a trip to the resort around one of the races, giving you a great, built-in way to celebrate your achievement in a meaningful way.

New parks, hotels, restaurants: What to know about Disney's proposed expansion in Florida
F or more than a year, Disney CEO Bob Iger has been promising expansion that would create 13,000 local jobs over the next two decades.
He also previously stated that Disney's expansion might be jeopardized by the contentious relationship between Disney and Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis over Disney’s opposition to the Parental Rights In Education law, dubbed by critics the “Don’t Say Gay” law.
However, a new development agreement that will be voted on next week by the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District – the government agency that oversees Walt Disney World property – spells out 20 years of growth on the 24,000-acre property.

5th park to join Disney World
It includes the addition of a fifth major park to join the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom and the Hollywood Studios, and two new minor parks joining similar attractions, like the water parks Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach, Fort Wilderness, Disney’s Wide World Of Sports Complex and Disney Springs.
The agreement spells out $17 billion in growth over the next 10 to 20 years, with at least an $8 billion capital investment in the first 10 years.
'Attainable' housing
Disney will also commit $10 million to "attainable" housing.
That means in Orange County – where the median annual income for a four-person household is $90,400 – attainable housing would be earmarked for low-income households earning up to $77,200. That's 80% of the median income, according to the Orange County Housing & Community Development Division.
Disney is already planning to build 1,400 units on Hartzog Road in Horizon West near the State Road 429 toll road. About 1,000 of those units will be considered "affordable” for those four-person households earning up to $48,250 a year, which is 50% of the median income for Orange County.

More hotels, restaurants
Disney already has 39,801 hotel rooms and will build more in the next two decades.
The expansion will add 13,666 rooms and 269,665 square feet of new retail and restaurant space – about the size of two Walmart stores.
That would have 1,732,887 square feet of retail and restaurant space on Disney property at full build-out.
Economic growth
"With Walt Disney World's substantial investments, we anticipate economic growth, job creation, and support for local businesses, alongside environmental stewardship and workforce housing initiatives, benefitting Central Florida's community,” Stephanie Kopelousos, administrator of the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District, told WESH 2 News.
A fifth major theme park would add new firepower in the local theme park wars, with Universal opening its third gate, Epic Universe, next year.
So far, Disney has not announced a name, theme or location for a fifth park.
Messages to Walt Disney World public affairs, requesting comment on the development agreement, were not returned.
