Everything we know about Disney Treasure, coming to Disney Cruise Line in 2024

Summer Hull

After a 10-year hiatus in expanding the fleet, Disney Cruise Line has been busy in recent years.

Disney Wish joined the cruise line in the summer of 2022, ushering in an all-new Triton class of three ships that will join the original Disney Magic , Disney Wonder , Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy.

Up next is Disney Treasure, which will debut in December 2024. From new restaurants and bars to announced itineraries, here's everything we know so far about Disney Treasure.

The theme of the Disney Treasure cruise ship

Disney Treasure will share much of its footprint and layout with Disney Wish. However, it will have a distinct look that appears to be less bright-and-airy "fairy tale" than we saw on Wish and more "mysterious adventure."

Based on renderings, Disney Treasure will feature a Grand Hall that leans into a palette of deep blue, turquoise and gold, with a design inspired by gilded palaces from faraway places such as Asia and Africa — including the fictitious city of Agrabah from Disney's "Aladdin."

disney cruise treasure

Fittingly, the statue in the Grand Hall will feature Jasmine, Aladdin and Magic Carpet ready to go on an adventure, which is the theme of this next ship.

Captain Minnie will also wear a special adventure-seeking outfit while on board Disney Treasure. She will appear on the ship's bow, and out on the stern, the adventurous duo of Peter Pan and Captain Hook will sail along wherever Disney Treasure may take them.

Disney Treasure cabins

Disney Treasure will have 1,256 cabins and suites ranging from interior cabins to a two-story funnel suite. All of them will continue the theme of adventure told through Disney stories and places. Some of the movies that will be integrated into the interior, ocean-view and verandah cabins are "Aladdin," "Pocahontas," "Finding Nemo," "Up," "Luca" and "Encanto."

The Concierge Suites, specifically, will include nods to "The Lion King," while the four Royal Suites pay homage to the tigers found in "The Jungle Book" and "Aladdin."

The signature suite on the ship will be the two-story Tomorrow Tower Suite. Disney Wish introduced the concept of a nearly 2,000-square-foot, multiroom suite in the ship's faux funnel. While its Tower Suite was themed to "Moana," Disney Treasure's version will be inspired by Epcot and feature a futuristic design. The Tomorrow Tower Suite can sleep up to eight guests.

Disney Treasure restaurants

Each Disney ship has three included restaurants that guests and their dining team rotate through each night in either an early or late dinner seating. On Disney Treasure, one restaurant will be new to the fleet and two will return from Disney Wish, but with a slightly different spin.

Plaza de Coco

The all-new restaurant found only on Disney Treasure will be Plaza de Coco, a Mexican restaurant that is set after the events of the "Coco" movie. Much like in the "Frozen"-themed space that it is replacing from Disney Wish, this is a "dinner in the round" concept with music, dancing and characters from the "Coco" film performing on stage and making their way around the room during dinner.

As with all the restaurants on Treasure, guests will be scheduled to dine here at least twice, so Plaza de Coco will offer two unique shows.

disney cruise treasure

Worlds of Marvel

Like on Disney Wish, Disney Treasure passengers will enjoy the Worlds of Marvel restaurant . Due to Treasure's longer itineraries, a new, second show will be added to the Worlds of Marvel lineup. Disney has not yet shared what that show will entail, other than teasing that Nick Fury, the founder of the Avengers, has the information listed as top-secret.

"Quantum Encounter," the dinner show on Disney Wish, will also be on Disney Treasure, though in a slightly updated way.

disney cruise treasure

Another Disney Wish restaurant that will be repeated on Disney Treasure is 1923, a California-themed restaurant that is named after the year that the Walt Disney Company was founded. 1923 is adorned with props, art and decor from Disney's decades of storytelling, and on Disney Treasure, that memorabilia will lean heavily into Disney's more adventurous films and stories.

disney cruise treasure

Jumbeaux's Sweets

Jumbeaux's Sweets is a new ice cream parlor and candy shop debuting on Treasure. It's inspired by Jumbeaux's Cafe in the movie "Zootopia," and the space will include statues of Officer Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde.

disney cruise treasure

Adults-only restaurants

Palo Steakhouse, Enchante and The Rose, a bar located at the entrance to both, will be found on Disney Treasure as they are on Disney Wish. They will be available for guests ages 18 and up for an additional fee, which I'd argue is some of the best money you can spend at sea , given how enjoyable the meals are.

disney cruise treasure

Not just for grownups but also returning from Disney Wish is the ship's fast-casual, upper-deck Mickey & Friends Festival of Foods.

Disney Treasure bars

Skipper society.

Disney Cruise Line is doing something a bit different with its newest ship, and that's theming onboard spaces to park attractions, not just Disney characters and movies. This concept is evident in the new Skipper Society bar on Disney Treasure.

Located where The Bayou is on Wish, Skipper Society is inspired by Disney's Jungle Cruise ride and its wisecracking skippers. Here, guests will find a menu of themed cocktails and light snacks, such as waffles.

disney cruise treasure

Periscope Pub

A second new bar is Periscope Pub, inspired by Jules Verne's "Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas" (and Disney's 1954 movie version of the book and theme park attraction). It will replace Wish's Keg & Compass as Disney Treasure's sports bar. The bar is designed to look like the Nautilus submarine from the story, complete with a giant periscope, porthole windows and a ceiling designed to look like you're underwater. Watch out for the giant squid below!

disney cruise treasure

The Haunted Mansion Parlor

Disney will replace the popular "Star Wars"-themed Hyperspace Lounge , which debuted on Disney Wish, with the Haunted Mansion Parlor on Disney Treasure. This spooky watering hole is inspired by the creepy atmosphere and happy haunts of the Haunted Mansion park attraction.

The bar will be designed to resemble a first-class drawing room on a classic oceanliner that's been taken into the ghostly realm. Guests can indulge in specialty cocktails (including spirit-free versions) with ghostly messages and ghoulish embellishments (gummy eyeballs, anyone?). They can also spot homages to the original park attraction and its cast of ghostly characters, as well as become acquainted with new seafaring haunts.

Passengers enamored with the Haunted Mansion Parlor will find themed souvenirs in the ship's onboard shops, so they can take home a mirror full of hitchhiking ghosts or a clock that strikes the 13th hour to start up some ghoulish revelry.

disney cruise treasure

Disney Treasure activities

Broadway-style shows.

Disney Treasure will debut "Disney The Tale of Moana" as its new Broadway-style musical. The show will mark the first time Disney has brought the story of Moana to the stage. The musical will feature popular songs and favorite characters from the animated movie.

"Beauty and the Beast" and "Disney Seas the Adventure" will be the two returning Broadway-caliber shows running on the ship's main stage, the Walt Disney Theatre.

disney cruise treasure

AquaMouse, Disney's water ride that debuted on Disney Wish, will also be a signature attraction on Disney Treasure. As on Wish, riders will enjoy an animated adventure with Disney characters before they start twisting and turning around the ship. Treasure will add a third, new show to the rotation of animated shorts, along with the two from Wish.

Called "Curse of the Golden Egg," the animation will follow Mickey and Minnie as they search for lost treasure inside an ancient temple. This new show will eventually be added to the AquaMouse rotation on Disney Wish.

disney cruise treasure

The "Lion King"-themed Sarabi will be the ship's two-story, multipurpose entertainment zone (replacing Luna from Disney Wish).

When will Disney Treasure set sail?

Disney has announced that the maiden voyage for Disney Treasure will be Dec. 21, 2024, on a seven-night sailing from Port Canaveral (near Orlando), Florida. It will visit Tortola, St. Thomas and Castaway Cay (Disney's private island), with three sea days to rest up from your adventures ashore.

The ship will sail weeklong Caribbean cruises throughout its maiden season. Most of the ship's Eastern Caribbean itineraries will include the same ports, but a few swap out St. Thomas for San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Disney Treasure will also have seven-night Western Caribbean sailings that include ports of call in Cozumel, Mexico; Grand Cayman; Falmouth, Jamaica; and Castaway Cay with two sea days.

disney cruise treasure

This is different from the itineraries on Disney Wish, which are three- and four-night sailings to the Bahamas. The longer itineraries will give guests more time to enjoy the ship, so Disney has to create more experiences to keep them entertained.

Bookings on Disney Treasure open to Disney Cruise Line Castaway Club members Sept. 12 and to the general public Sept. 20. We expect the early sailings on Treasure to sell out almost immediately.

How much does it cost to sail on Disney Treasure?

disney cruise treasure

If you want to sail on the maiden voyage of Disney Treasure, for two guests, the price starts at $8,773 for an inside cabin and $11,279 for a balcony cabin. For a family of four, those prices increase to $14,088 and $16,796, respectively.

But don't despair if that's out of range, as there are much less expensive ways to sail on Disney Treasure — though with only weeklong cruises on offer, there are no bargain basement prices to be found. Outside of the maiden voyages, Disney Treasure inside-cabin fares start at $3,845 for double occupancy or $6,271 for a family of four. Verandah cabins start at close to $8,000 for a family, and concierge cabins start around $15,000.

The lowest prices will be found on off-peak sailing dates, outside of popular school vacation times.

Bottom line

disney cruise treasure

Since 2012, Disney Cruise Line has operated a fleet of four ships, but 2022 marked the start of a period of rapid growth for the line. It welcomed Disney Wish in 2022 and will debut Disney Treasure in late 2024 and the third Triton-class ship in 2025.

Disney also made a surprise purchase of one of the world's largest cruise ships. That vessel will join the fleet and operate out of Singapore beginning in 2025 .

Additionally, the cruise line has added a new highest tier, Pearl, in its Castaway Club elite status program to mark Disney's 25th year of cruise operations, and will add Lighthouse Point as another private Bahamian beach destination in summer 2024.

It's an exciting time to be a Disney Cruise Line fan. Stay tuned for more information about Disney Treasure as additional details are released leading up to the Dec. 21, 2024, maiden voyage.

Disney Cruise Line shares first look at its new ship, the Disney Treasure

Booking opens soon, and it's scheduled to set sail this December.

  • September 5, 2023

Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship, the Disney Treasure, will set sail on its maiden voyage Dec. 21, 2024, and we have a first look at the new vessel. The sixth ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet, the Disney Treasure is the adventurous sister to the Disney Wish, mirroring many of the Wish’s most beloved offerings and debuting some brand-new experiences.

Here’s a sneak peek at all the ways Disney Cruise Line is bringing Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and even iconic Disney Parks stories to life at sea on the Disney Treasure.

Trading Enchantment for Adventure

The Disney Treasure mirrors the layout of its sister ship and most recent predecessor, the Disney Wish, but trades the Wish’s design motif of enchantment for one of adventure, sourcing inspiration from Disney’s most beloved tales of exploration and discovery.

A New ‘Coco’ Restaurant and Second Marvel Show

Carrying on Disney Cruise Line’s popular rotational dining concept, the Treasure will debut a new “ Coco ”-themed restaurant that joins the nightly dining rotation alongside Worlds of Marvel and 1923, both of which are also on the Wish.

At “Plaza de Coco,” guests are transported to the colorful town of Saint Cecilia, picking up where the story of Miguel and his family left off in the Disney/Pixar film. Guests will experience two celebratory evenings in Mariachi Plaza. Seated beneath colorful hanging banners and lanterns, guests will dine on a menu of “modern twists on traditional Mexican fare” with entertainment by live musicians and performers.

The other main restaurants, Worlds of Marvel and 1923, will remain largely the same, though Worlds of Marvel will be introducing a second show on the Disney Treasure.

New Bars: Skipper Society and Periscope Pub

Just off the Grand Hall, the jungle meets the sea at Skipper Society, a bar/lounge inspired by the Jungle Cruise . References to the world-famous ride abound in this space decorated with hanging lanterns and rustic canopies. Themed cocktails, light bites plus live entertainment should make this a main attraction for Disney Parks fans.

disney cruise treasure

Taking the place of Keg & Compass on the Disney Wish, the Periscope Pub celebrates the 1954 film “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea” and the Walt Disney World attraction it inspired. Steampunk-esque submarine accents, underwater projections and an overhead “window” into mysterious watery realms simulate a deep dive into the abyss. Craft beers and light snacks fortify peckish explorers and live sports and news on screens keep guests connected to the world “above.”

AquaMouse Returns With an Adventurous Addition

AquaMouse, Disney’s first-of-its-kind water ride introduced on the Disney Wish, will debut with an adventurous new twist on the Disney Treasure. The splashy adventure through 760 feet of twisting and turning tubes above the ship’s upper decks will premiere a new storyline — “AquaMouse: Curse of the Golden Egg.” Inspired by “The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse” animated shorts, this new adventure takes guests inside an ancient temple alongside Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse in search of treasure.

More Familiar Spaces With an Adventurous Twist

Guests’ first glimpse inside the Disney Treasure is through its gilded Grand Hall. The Grand Hall incorporates design influences from Asia and Africa, conjuring images of the golden palace of Agrabah from Aladdin. Statues of Aladdin and Jasmine beckon guests to start exploring.

Just off the Grand Hall, guests will find Heihei Café. Named after Moana’s feathered friend, the cafe takes design cues from the island of Montunui, incorporating ocean blues, seashell accents, and furniture inspired by Polynesian boat builders. At Jade Cricket Café, the bar will feature a jade sculpture of Cri-Kee, the lucky cricket from “Mulan,” plus decorative nods to Mulan’s heritage and armor.

Just off the pool deck, Jumbeaux’s Sweets will be a “Zootopia”-inspired ice cream shop based on the film’s Jumbeaux Café. Serving handmade gelato, ice cream, sorbet and specialty treats, the colorful shop will feature a sculpture of Officer Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde.

Named after “The Lion King” matriarch, Sarabi is the Disney Treasure’s version of Disney Wish’s entertainment hub, Luna. Sarabi is destination for family activities by day that transitions to an adult-exclusive entertainment space at night. Sarabi’s design takes inspiration from the “natural beauty and openness of the savanna.”

Staterooms Showcase Tales of Adventure

Inspired by some of Disney’s most famous animated adventure stories, the Disney Treasure’s 1,256 staterooms will feature artwork and design elements from films including “Aladdin,” “Pocahontas,” “Up” and “ Encanto .”

Most staterooms have an ocean view and 70% have a veranda. Many rooms have the option to adjoin to accommodate larger families, with 451 connecting doors in total.

Concierge-level staterooms and suites include a range of amenities such as spacious sitting areas and access to a private lounge and sun deck. Decor in concierge-level suites draws inspiration from “The Lion King.”

Occupying the ship’s forward funnel, the EPCOT-inspired Tomorrow Tower Suite is the most over-the-top of the Treasure’s accommodations. Comfortably sleeping up to eight guests, the 2000-square-foot suite includes a full kitchen and dining area, private elevator and two-story window. Subtle nods to EPCOT and its World Discovery neighborhood will be expressed through the suite’s artwork, lighting fixtures, futuristic accents and architectural details.

Dining, Leisure and Entertainment Options Abound

The Disney Treasure will feature some of the same dining and entertainment options as the Disney Wish. Some of the offerings on the new cruise liner include the Marceline Market, which will be offering quick, casual dining on the upper deck. Guests will also find the buffet restaurant, Mickey and Friends Festival of Foods as well as five themed food stalls serving crowd-pleasing classics like barbecue, burgers, pizza, and soft-serve ice cream.

The Treasure will also feature three “Beauty and the Beast”-themed adults-only upcharge concepts including the upscale cocktail bar, The Rose, Palo Steakhouse and the ship’s most elevated dining offering, Enchanté by Chef Arnaud Lallerment.

Enchante Disney Wish

Kids ages 3 to 12 will be able to enjoy Disney’s Oceaneer Club. In the club they’ll be able to craft their own coasters in the Walt Disney Imagineering Lab, become galactic caretakers in Star Wars: Cargo Bay, channel their inner artist in Rapunzel’s Art Studio and assemble with Avengers in Marvel Super Hero Academy.

Additionally, The Hero Zone is an “Incredibles”-themed sports and recreation venue that offers family-friendly physical challenges, games and competitions.

Hero Zone Incredi Course Disney Wish

The cruise liner has plenty of leisure options including cinemas, salons, and spas. Some of its offerings include:

Wonderland and Never Land Cinemas: These cinemas provide double the entertainment thanks to two screening rooms showing first-run films from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm and more.

Hook’s Barbery:  The Captain Hook-themed European-style men’s salon offers haircuts, shaves, nail and skin services and includes a popular pop-up bar.

Untangled Salon: The elegant “Tangled”-themed salon provides an array of salon services in a stunning, light-filled space.

Senses Spa and Senses Fitness: The two spaces provide an area for relaxing beauty and spa treatments and state-of-the art exercise facilities.

Senses Spa Disney Wish

Two original musical spectaculars, “Disney Seas the Adventure,” and “Beauty and the Beast,” have been announced as two of the three main shows coming to the Walt Disney Theatre on the Disney Treasure.

Reveals Still to Come

While there’s plenty here to unpack about the new ship, Disney has kept quiet about a few details it will reveal at a later date. Since we know that the Treasure shares the Wish’s same basic layout, we also know there are a few key spaces that we haven’t learned about yet.

First up, Disney confirmed that Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge will be exclusive to the Disney Wish. They also confirmed that Star Wars: Cargo Bay in Disney’s Oceaneer Club will be the only dedicated Star Wars-themed space on the Treasure. This means that secluded, immersive space will get a totally different theme.

We also haven’t yet learned what’s planned for the space occupied by whimsical piano bar Nightingale’s on the Disney Wish.

Other reveals yet to come include plans for the second Marvel show in Worlds of Marvel. Disney also announced that a brand-new Broadway-style show is coming to the Walt Disney Theatre on the Disney Treasure.

What else do we hope to learn about the Disney Wish? Haunted Mansion has been teased on multiple occasions on promotional materials about the Disney Treasure, so we anxiously await details about how the famous Disney Parks attraction that has yielded multiple films might be represented on the ship. We also have yet to learn about deck parties and entertainment. Will the Disney Treasure have a Pirate Night deck party? And there’s one more famous franchise on our wish list for this adventure-themed ship — Indiana Jones!

When You Can Book Your Cruise on the Disney Treasure

Following the Disney Treasure’s seven-night Eastern Caribbean maiden voyage from Port Canaveral on Dec. 21, 2024, the ship will sail an inaugural season of seven-night itineraries to the Eastern and Western Caribbean out of Port Canaveral. Bookings open to all guests on Sept. 20, 2023, with Disney Cruise Line Castaway Club members able to book as early as Sept. 12, 2023. Learn more at disneycruise.com/treasure.

'Palace on the sea': Disney Cruise Line unveils Disney Treasure ship

The Grand Hall of the Disney Treasure pays homage to the far-off land of Agrabah from “Aladdin.”

Disney Cruise Line’s new ship will bring the magic of its theme parks to the high seas for the first time.

Disney Treasure will debut in December 2024 with eateries, attractions and accommodations inspired by popular rides and areas of Walt Disney World and Disneyland, the cruise line announced in September. The ship also finds inspiration in Walt Disney’s love of travel, emphasizing the spirit of adventure in cruise vacations.

“We're taking our guests to beautiful real places, but also fantastical stories that we're bringing to life on the Disney Treasure,” Pam Rawlins, executive producer of Walt Disney Imagineering in Florida, said during a media preview.

Reservations opened to the public in September.

Here’s what guests can expect from Disney Treasure.

Where will Disney Treasure sail?

Disney Treasure, which can accommodate 4,000 passengers, will sail seven-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries from Florida’s Port Canaveral.

The ship’s maiden voyage will depart on Dec. 21, 2024.

How will Disney Treasure incorporate theme parks?

Fans of the classic Disney attraction and film “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea” will be thrilled to return to the Nautilus submarine in the Disney Treasure’s new Periscope Pub. It’s Disney Cruise line’s first venue inspired by the beloved ride, which was retired years ago at Disney World and rethemed to Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage at Disneyland.

“It will immerse you into the Jules Verne vessel,” Rawlins said, noting that guests may spot a giant squid and other mysteries of the sea in the underwater setting.

Jungle Cruise fans will want to check out Skipper Society, a lounge inspired by the popular Disney World and Disneyland attraction, which also inspired a live-action film in 2021.

“This is an intimate gathering place where we take you into the world of the Jungle Cruise,” Rawlins said. “And it's where you would find our higher end skippers, maybe relaxing at the end of their day, listening to music, maybe bantering some comical jokes around and just having an adult beverage that they love.”

EPCOT lovers will have a place of their own, for a price. The Tomorrow Tower Suite will be a two-story, 2,000-square-foot suite.

“(It) sleeps eight comfortably in the space,” said Daniel Cowan, senior manager of Dining Standards and Service Excellence for Disney Cruise Line. “It's got spaces for the kids to play. It's got a dining area, full kitchen, expansive two story window that overlooks onto the deck. So we think that this space is absolutely amazing.”

The ship will also feature the Haunted Mansion Parlor, a bar inspired by the attraction at Disney parks around the world. The menu will feature drinks like the Ghoulish Delight - incorporating oat milk, ube fudge, tapioca pearls and a gummy eyeball garnish - and a new take on a margarita with a secret message decipherable via black light.

The line consciously incorporated both recent and older Disney elements.

“It's (about) making sure we also talk to people who really grew up with Disney and know about these iconic stories or attractions,” Thomas Mazloum, president of New Experiences Portfolio and Disney Signature Experiences, said in an interview.

Taking a rest day at Walt Disney World?: Here's how to spend it

What else is new on Disney Treasure?

The ship will introduce several other venues and experiences inspired by beloved Disney characters and stories.

A new Broadway-style show called "Disney The Tale of Moana" will debut aboard the Disney Treasure, the cruise line unveiled in October. It will feature the same storyline and characters from the animated film. It joins existing “Beauty and the Beast” and “Disney Seas the Adventure" productions as part of the ship's entertainment offerings.

The three-story Grand Hall will evoke the desert kingdom of Agrabah from “Aladdin” with gilded decor, a stately staircase and a statue of Aladdin and Jasmine taking a magic carpet ride. The nearby Jade Cricket Café, inspired by “Mulan,” and Heihei Café, named after Moana’s rooster sidekick, will serve coffee, tea, specialty beverages and snacks.

Plaza de Coco – the first theatrical dining experience to take its theme from Disney and Pixar’s “Coco” – will transport guests to the fictional town of Santa Cecilia with two nights of in-the-round entertainment and modern Mexican cuisine (passengers will visit each restaurant at least twice on the ship as part of the line’s rotational dining ).

Passengers can also treat themselves to gelato, candy and more at Jumbeaux’s Sweets, a shop in the vein of Jumbeaux’s Café from “Zootopia” and visit the “Lion King”-themed Sarabi, which will host activities during the day and entertainment for adult guests at night.

Is Disney Treasure similar to Disney Wish?

Disney Treasure is the sister ship to Disney Wish , which launched in 2022.

“The Disney Wish was our castle on the sea, and the Disney Treasure is our palace on the sea,” Rawlins said. The new vessel will feature the same layout as the Wish, as well as a number of familiar attractions and eateries – with some original twists.

The AquaMouse water ride, for example, will have a new theme in addition to its existing programming. On AquaMouse: Curse of the Golden Egg, passengers can follow Mickey and Minnie Mouse as they search for treasure in an ancient temple, riding two-person vehicles through 760 feet of tubes.

The ship’s vintage-themed 1923 restaurant, named for the year the Walt Disney Company started , will also feature artwork inspired by movies with adventure. Other returning venues include the adults-only restaurant Enchanté by Chef Arnaud Lallement, serving French-inspired cuisine and the Worlds of Marvel restaurant.

Is Disney Treasure accessible?

Disney Cruise Line has accessible staterooms and suites for passengers with disabilities on all of its ships, according to its website. The majority of guest areas on the vessels are wheelchair accessible, and the ships have accessible public bathrooms, as well as other services .

What’s Coming to Disney Experiences in 2024 and Beyond

“It’s something that will never be finished. Something that I can keep developing, keep plussing and adding to. It’s alive. It will be a live breathing thing that will need change.”

Walt Disney’s words about Disneyland have remained a guiding principle for the Disney Experiences segment since they were first uttered roughly 70 years ago. The summer of 2024 is just the latest example of Disney expanding its present and building towards a great, big, beautiful tomorrow.

Here’s a look at some of the latest Disney Experiences developments from all around the globe:

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

On June 28, guests at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida will return to the New Orleans of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ The Princess and the Frog to float along on a musical journey in Tiana’s Bayou Adventure .

The all-new attraction picks up after the events of the 2009 film, where visitors experience an adventure through the bayou as Princess Tiana prepares to host a Mardi Gras celebration.

disney cruise treasure

Guests will encounter dozens of technologically advanced Audio-Animatronic figures during their ride, including beloved characters like Princess Tiana, Louis, and Mama Odie, along with new critters and characters. New arrangements of songs from the film — and a new original tune — will serenade guests as they make their way towards a 50-foot drop.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will also open later this year at Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California.

Fantasy Springs

Fantasy Springs — the eighth themed port at Tokyo DisneySea Park — welcomes guests on June 6.

It brings to life new areas inspired by three of Disney Animation’s most beloved films — Rapunzel’s Forest from 2010’s Tangled , Peter Pan’s Never Land from 1953’s Peter Pan , and Frozen Kingdom from the 2013 blockbuster, Frozen .

Fantasy Springs finds itself nestled between Tokyo DisneySea’s Lost River Delta and the Arabian Coast areas and the new port will be an entryway for guests into the magical worlds of these films.

Each will include innovative attractions, stunning restaurants, and the Tokyo DisneySea Fantasy Springs Hotel.

Setting Sail

Disney Cruise Line is looking to bring enjoyment to guests by sea and by land this year.

In June, Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point , Disney Cruise Line’s newest tropical retreat opens on the island of Eleuthera, The Bahamas.

disney cruise treasure

The destination celebrates the rich culture and natural beauty of The Bahamas, with signature Disney entertainment, port adventures and nature trails, a water play area and beautiful beaches, including a dedicated beach for adults. The retreat will feature a plethora of activities for the whole family to enjoy.

As Disney Cruise Line looks to add three new ships to its fleet through 2025, its latest vessel, Disney Treasure , is also set to take its maiden voyage on December 21.

Reimagined Classics

One of the very last attractions that Walt Disney personally helped develop, the Country Bear Musical Jamboree , is undergoing a refresh that will open this summer.

While the Country Bear Musical Jamboree will include call backs, the bears will sing new, reinterpreted Disney tunes in different genres of country music – like bluegrass, pop-country, Americana, rockabilly and other styles.

On May 24, Disneyland Resort guests will once again be able to enjoy the dazzling special effects of Fantasmic! As the beloved show makes its epic return.

And on June 10, EPCOT at Walt Disney World will welcome guests to CommuniCore Hall and Plaza . The Hall and Plaza are flexible multi-use event spaces that bring exhibitions, entertainment and even more culinary delights to the center of EPCOT.

Fan-Favorite Festivals and Events

And of course, there are always the seasonal festivals and events that offer a unique spin on a Disney parks visit.

  • From August 9 to October 31, families can delight in the frightful fun of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party .
  • EPCOT guests can taste their way around the world at the International Food & Wine Festival , from August 29 to November 23.
  • And currently, fans can see the worlds of Pixar come alive at Pixar Fest at Disneyland. Running from April 26 through August 4, guests of all ages can celebrate with daytime parades, nighttime spectaculars, and encounters with their favorite Pixar characters.

disney cruise treasure

Beyond 2024

And that’s just this year .

Going forward, Disney fans can keep an eye out for updates on DisneylandForward , which includes a planned Avatar Experience at Disneyland.

disney cruise treasure

There’s also fresh expansions coming to the Magic Kingdom, exploring the Tropical Americas at Animal Kingdom , more cruise ships with their own unique themes, an ongoing effort to reimagine Disneyland Paris , a newly rebuilt Space Mountain at Tokyo Disney Resort in 2027, and much more.

The Walt Disney Company announced last year that it is developing plans to accelerate and expand investment in its Parks, Experiences and Products segment to nearly double capital expenditures over the course of approximately 10 years to roughly $60 billion.

So, with plenty happening across the globe now and through the next decade, Disney Experiences is as alive as Walt could’ve ever hoped it would be.

Disney Cruise Line takes pride in its exceptional dining experiences, catering to a variety of palates. Each ship boasts themed restaurants that transport you to different worlds. Enjoy classic Disney animation at Animator’s Palate, a restaurant that comes alive with projected scenes from your favorite Disney films.

Travel to the elegance of France at Remy, a sophisticated fine-dining restaurant. For a taste of Italy, explore Palo, offering authentic Italian cuisine with stunning ocean views. Beyond the delectable fare, Disney Cruise Line provides a dazzling array of entertainment options. Catch Broadway-caliber musicals featuring iconic Disney characters, laugh along with hilarious comedy shows, or be mesmerized by stunning stage productions such as Frozen, Aladdin, Tangled, Beauty and the Beast , and more. Children can participate in interactive activities led by beloved Disney characters at Disney’s Oceaneer Club, while adults can enjoy live music and entertainment at the bar locations.

A highlight of any Disney Cruise Line experience is a visit to Castaway Cay, Disney’s private island paradise in the Bahamas.

Disney Cruise Line’s private island paradise, Castaway Cay, offers a wealth of activities beyond basking on its pristine beaches (including a dedicated adults-only section). Guests can embark on snorkeling adventures, indulge in delectable dining options, and discover exclusive merchandise unavailable elsewhere. Excursions like fishing or parasailing provide additional opportunities for exploration, while a dedicated kids’ club ensures a magical time for the entire family.

Disembarking directly from the ship onto Castaway Cay eliminates the need for tender boats, streamlining your arrival. Complimentary towels and lounge chairs are readily available (though for prime spots, an early arrival is recommended). For guests with accessibility concerns, all-terrain wheelchairs are available for a more comfortable exploration.

Castaway Cay offers a well-rounded selection of complimentary activities, supplemented by a few optional experiences. The In Da Shade Game Pavilion, conveniently located near the family beach, provides guests with shaded areas for basketball, billiards, and ping pong, alongside classic beach sports like soccer and volleyball.

Fitness enthusiasts will appreciate the complimentary Castaway Cay 5k, a self-guided run or walk along scenic tropical paths. While not a formal race, participants receive a commemorative medal upon completion.

For an unforgettable encounter with marine life, consider Castaway Ray’s Stingray Adventure (additional fee). This hour-long program allows participants to feed, pet, and snorkel alongside 60 fascinating stingrays. A variety of exhilarating excursions, including parasailing, sailing, and fishing charters, are also available for an additional fee. For independent exploration, watercraft rentals are offered.

Disney enthusiasts will revel in Castaway Cay’s unique snorkeling lagoon, suitable for all experience levels. This 22-acre underwater wonderland features two distinct trails, one showcasing sunken Disney characters and remnants of iconic theme park rides, like a submarine from the now-defunct 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: Submarine Voyage attraction.

Snorkeling equipment can be rented from Gil’s Fin and Boats and Flippers and Floats. For those seeking to maximize their adventure, Castaway Cay offers bundled activity packages at significant savings.

Family running on beach at Castaway Cay

Castaway Cay caters to all palates with complimentary dining options. Cookie’s BBQ and Cookie’s Too, the island’s primary dining venues, offer classic summertime fare like cheeseburgers, barbecued chicken, fresh salads, and fruit under relaxing shaded pavilions. Disney Cruise Line’s signature soft-serve ice cream is also complimentary at these locations. Serenity Bay BBQ provides similar offerings on the adults-only section of the island.

For a refreshing treat, Olaf’s Summertime Freeze offers specialty frozen beverages and must-have souvenir cups, sure to delight young guests.

Castaway Cay promises an unforgettable experience for families of all ages, offering a seamless blend of relaxation, adventure, and Disney magic.

That is why the recent fire was so devastating to guests.

Guests who were on the Disney Wish a few days ago would have had a very different Castaway Cay visit. One guest took to Reddit to share that the island had to temporarily shut down, “Just got off the Wish. When we were at Castaway Cay someone threw a lit cigar into the brush and started a fire that shut down the power on the island temporarily. Crew handled it fantastically.”

donald castaway cay

Another guest who was on the ship replied, “Just got off as well. We were all loaded on the tram to head back to the ship and got stuck sitting there for about a half hour. No one told us what happened but we saw some crew in fire gear once everything was resolved. Fortunately it seems like they were able to contain it.”

A lot of the conversation revolved around Disney fans wanting the ships to ban smoking all together: “It’s become time for DCL to ban smoking on the island and to work on phasing it out on the ships.”

“Tired of walking through clouds of smoke to get to the beach, to get to food, to just walk around. Hopefully we see more islands going to way of Mexico and banning it outright also making it easier for DCL to implement.”

It appears that the fire began right by the dock of the island, which stopped guests from coming both on and off the ship until the fire was contained and extinguished.

This is not the only issue that DCL has hit as of late. The Disney Dream took a pit stop in the middle of the Atlantic recently as the ship attempted to assist in what appeared to be an urgent emergency.

disney cruise line castaway cay

Earlier this year, we reported that Disney conducted a successful rescue mission on New Year’s Eve , once again stopping their boat to provide aid.

These hiccups also occur on other cruise lines, such as Carnival Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, Princess Cruise Line, and others.

Moving forward, Disney Cruise Line (DCL) is thrilled to announce the upcoming opening of Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, Bahamas, on June 10, 2024. This new private island destination signifies a remarkable collaboration between Disney and Bahamian artisans, historians, and cultural experts.

Disney Lookout Cay promises an immersive experience steeped in the rich cultural tapestry of the Bahamas. Artistic flourishes, architectural details, and captivating performances by local talent will transport guests to the heart of Bahamian life. Visitors can embark on a cultural odyssey through interactive experiences and presentations that celebrate the island’s unique heritage.

Beyond the cultural immersion, Disney Lookout Cay boasts breathtaking natural beauty. Pristine beaches beckon relaxation, while nature trails offer a chance to commune with the island’s flora and fauna. The turquoise waters surrounding the island are perfect for exploration and discovery.

Do you think Disney should ban smoking on their private islands?

The Disney Treasure will sail Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries from Port Canaveral, Florida beginning Saturday, December 21, 2024 with her maiden voyage, a 7-night Eastern Caribbean cruise. Afterwards, the Disney Treasure’s inaugural season will consist of 7-Night itineraries to the Eastern and Western Caribbean from Port Canaveral. Disney Treasure

The Disney Treasure will harness a design concept that calls upon the bold and heartwarming stories of beloved Disney characters. Adventure will serve as the architectural and thematic foundation of the newest Disney Cruise Line ship, in honor of Walt Disney’s legendary passion for travel and exploration. On board, guests will find fan-favorite spaces from the Disney Wish, infused with this theme of adventure and inspired by memorable Disney stories like “Aladdin,” “Coco” and “Zootopia.”

Disney Treasure

“The Disney Treasure will bring brand-new stories to life, blending one-of-a-kind experiences with the extraordinary entertainment, world-class dining and unparalleled hospitality that make every sailing so memorable,” said Sharon Siskie, senior vice president and general manager, Disney Cruise Line. “As we chart a course for adventure, we’re so excited for families to discover the excitement and exploration that awaits onboard the sixth ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet.”

During today’s Unlocking the Disney Treasure: Adventure Awaits Onboard Disney’s Newest Ship presentation, Disney shared an overview of what guests will get to experience when the Disney Treasure set sail in late 2024.

Guests will be welcomed aboard Disney’s palace on the sea by Cast and Crew members as they enter the Grand Hall. Inspired by the grandeur and mystery of a gilded palace, the Grand Hall aboard the Disney Treasure, draws on real-world influences from Asia and Africa and pays homage to the far-off land of Agrabah from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ classic tale, Aladdin.

Disney Treasure Grand Hall

Jasmin and Aladdin flying on Magic Carpet will be the iconic centerpiece statue of the the Grand Hall with the Genie’s lamp sitting on the pedestal at the base of the grand staircase.

Disney Treasure Grand Hall

The Grand Hall will serve as the ship’s most prominent gathering space, inspiring wonder and exploration during each voyage. This space will radiate the irresistible allure of adventure, inviting guests to seek all the treasures on board from the moment they embark. The Grand Hall Stage will play a pivotal role in the adventure with new entertainment, including interactive shows, character encounters and musical performances.

Disney Treasure Grand Hall

Just off the Grand Hall, guests will encounter two casual walk-up cafes offering a selection of coffee, tea, specialty beverages and snacks, with new themes that draw inspiration from two brave Disney Princesses, Moana and Mulan.

Named for Moana’s trusty sidekick,  Heihei Café  will echo the scalloped seashells and reflective blue waters of the Southern Pacific Isle of Motunui as its portrayed in Disney’s animated feature “Moana.” The venue will feature furniture stylings that pay homage to a traditional construction technique used by the Polynesian people to craft seafaring vessels.

Jade Cricket Café , inspired by the classic Disney film “Mulan,” will honor the Fa Family’s “lucky” cricket, Cri-Kee, who will be represented by a jade sculpture on the bar top. From the central moon gate to the plum blossom flowers adorning the walls, symbols of Mulan’s strength, beauty and heritage will fill the café, while the striking blue walls and metallic counters will be reminiscent of her armor.

ENTERTAINMENT

The Walt Disney Theatre will be an opulent show palace that comes alive with original Broadway-style productions developed exclusively for Disney Cruise Line by world-class creative teams.

Walt Disney Theatre

The voyage begins when Captain Minnie hands over the helm to her dear friend Goofy as he sets sail into uncharted waters on a journey to discover his own inner captain during Disney Seas the Adventure which debuted on the Disney Wish in 2022. The evening entertainment will also include a tale as old as time, as guests are wicked away on a magical journey to discover the power of transformation in Beauty and the Beast which debuted on the Disney Dream in 2017. Belle’s enchanting adventure incorporates imaginative elements from the live-action film and the classic animated feature.

Beauty And The Beast

Disney states there is a third, all-new show coming to the Disney Treasure. However, details will be released at a later date.

Sarabi will be a central hub for a multitude of daytime activities and adult-exclusive evening entertainment serving as a gathering place for families. The venue is similar to Luna on the Disney Wish and is named for the lioness matriarch from Disney’s The Lion King. The uniquely designed two-story space will evoke the natural beauty and openness of the savanna and will feature cruise line classics such as “Match Your Mate” and “Family Time Game Show,” and new favorites that debuted on the Disney Wish like “Villains Game Night.”

  • While sipping cocktails or sampling tasty morsels at Skipper Society, future Disney Treasure guests will hear familiar music playing in the venue, including spiels from the Jungle Cruise attractions around the world! That means you’ll hear Skipper voices from across the globe and in various languages such as English, Dutch, French, Cantonese, and more.
  • Skipper Society will have a jungle boat name of its own! Imagineers will dub the vessel housing the bar “Ems Empress” after the Ems River where the Disney Treasure will make her first voyage to sea. Seems like this is just a carbon copy of the Wish – warts and all – with just different theming in some places

' src=

Agree not a great reveal. They did not show much. Disappointing.

' src=

Could not agree more.

' src=

Agree. It was mainly “fluff” video. We were on the Wish in August 2022 and was very disappointed in the layout. There was too much emphasis on high-priced retail. The Treasure is a cut-and-paste of the Wish with a different paint job.

Very disappointed with this reveal. They did not really go through everything and it was not very informative compared to other reveals.

' src=

The one area of the map that they’ve gone over a few times… with nothing that I have seen that is tied to it (yet) are the balloons from Up! A Christmas maiden voyage, followed by a NYE voyage is likely going to go for record prices… will likely book a little bit later… but looking forward to sail on the Disney Treasure

' src=

Up is going to the theming of some staterooms along with Aladdin, Pocahontas and Encanto.

So disappointed, seemed so lazy. After sailing the Wish I’m in no rush to sail the Treasure, DCL swing and MISS!

Looks like getting a booking opening week will be easy.

This seemed more like a corny skit than a ship reveal. Not much different from the Wish from what I could see. Not a big fan of the Wish. Was hoping they had learned from their mistakes and had listened to all the feedback from DCL cruisers. Maybe they thought it would cost too much to change their plans, but I think it will cost them more in the long run.

' src=

not excited. I’m not really a fan of the Wish, the adult areas are non-existent because kids can access them so easily. I don’t like that when we were on the wish, cast members had to constantly stop activities that were adult only to tell parents they needed to move along with kiddos. I love children but also like adult time. Also I think Marceline Market is just not as good as Cabanas. There isn’t enough room for eating. We could never find a spot. so to see that this is a carbon copy but just different theming is disappointing.

' src=

Since the Treasure will do 7 nights cruises, alternating Eastern then Western… will this be in addition to what the Fantasy does? I sure hope they’re not moving the Fantasy!

' src=

I am also wondering how this will affect the itineraries of the other ships, especially the Fantasy.

' src=

The Fantasy is currently slated to remain at Port Canaveral even after the Treasure ports there as well.

' src=

Whoops, looks like the Wish 2.. that’s a shame.

' src=

ugh the pirate parlay party is terrible. the fireworks awesome, but the pirate night on the fantasy is superior to this garbage.

' src=

May be I will “complete my collection” in 2026… and then back to the good ships. No rush to get on Wish II, particularly at the hefty prices they would have at the start. Doing cruise #37 in November on the Dream, and I will stay with her and the Classics for the foreseeable future. Disappointing.

' src=

Thought they would do a better job for the adult pool area. But seems just the same old tiny space dedicated for it at the back again like the Wish. Boo

' src=

As someone who cruises solo, I definitely got the feeling they don’t want solos – at least on the Treasure. All the main actor moping and wishing his family was there went a bit over the top. Especially for a company like Disney that has always emphasized that families come in all shapes and sizes.

' src=

Dude was acting like his entire family died and Granny brought them back to life. Also… the atrium looks like a Carnival ship from the 80s. What a mess.

' src=

Wonderful, the themes and decor sound amazing! I loved everything about the “WISH” and looking forward to the “Treasure” hope they keep the multi smaller pools and the amazing Cove cafe in the back. Haters will hate and they need to go…

' src=

We’ll give it a shot, but compared to the other 4 ships, the Wish is a disappointment. Hopefully they fix some of the issues for the Treasure, but given the lackluster reveal, I’m not encouraged.

' src=

DCL has learned absolutely nothing from the short-comings of the Wish. What’s the difference between the Wish and the Treasure? Plaza de Coco and the paint. Yes, the blueprints for the structure were done years ago and it would take significant time and re-engineering to change the layout of the spaces, but DCL, in my opinion, has put absolutely ZERO effort into the Treasure except for picking out décor and room furnishings. How do you save money? That’s easy, keep everything the same! To all the DCL imagineers involved with this…some truly awe-inspiring imagination going on here! Just like Disney+, the Triton class is sinking fast.

disney cruise treasure

I've traveled on all 5 Disney cruise ships. I have 2 clear favorites, and there's only one I'm not in a hurry to book again.

  • My family and I have been on nine Disney cruises and all five ships.
  • We love the fleet's two smallest ships, Disney Wonder and Disney Magic.
  • Although we had a great experience on board Disney Wish , it was my least favorite ship to travel on.

I've been on nine Disney cruises with my husband and two teenage sons. We've sailed on other cruise lines including Carnival, Celebrity, MSC, and Royal Caribbean , but Disney Cruise Line is always our top pick.

Stellar service, subtle theming, top-notch kids' and teen programs, and a dreamy private island in the Bahamas are some of the reasons we keep returning.

So far, we've been on all five Disney Cruise Line ships — Disney Magic, Disney Wonder, Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy, and Disney Wish. We'll soon have more ships to explore, with Disney Treasure planning to set sail in December and Disney Destiny set to embark on its maiden voyage in 2025 .

Out of the five ships we've been on, two stand out as favorites, and there's only one I'm not in a hurry to travel on again.

My favorite ships are Disney Wonder and Disney Magic

Disney Wonder and Disney Magic are my favorite ships in the Disney Cruise Line.

They have nearly identical deck layouts and are the fleet's two smallest ships. Some may see this as a negative, but I prefer the smaller, more intimate size and the ease of getting around the ships.

Disney Wonder also has my favorite Disney Cruise Line restaurant, Tiana's Place. It offers a delicious, Cajun-inspired menu and a fun "The Princess and the Frog" theme. There's even a lively floor show with jazz music.

I love Disney Magic , too, but I thought it was more dated and in need of an update than Disney Wonder.

I also didn't love the Magic's Rapunzel-themed restaurant nearly as much as I love Tiana's Place.

The food at Rapunzel's Royal Table was just so-so, but the entertainment and theming more than made up for it. The in-person appearance of Rapunzel and Flynn, capped by a lantern processional to the tune of "I See the Light," was glorious.

Although Disney Wish was great, it was my least favorite ship to travel on

Although I had a great experience on board Disney Wish, it was my least favorite ship to travel on.

The Wish is unarguably beautiful — everything is sparkling new, and the atrium is decked out with a life-size Cinderella sculpture — but I thought the layout was a little clunky.

I may have felt this way because many of Disney's ships are laid out very similarly, and after nine cruises, we're pros at finding our way around.

Disney Wonder and Disney Magic have nearly identical deck layouts, as do Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy. Disney Wish, however, is laid out much differently.

Unlike the other Disney cruise ships we've been on, Disney Wish doesn't have a specific area for adults-only lounges.

Instead, the adults-only bars and lounges, which are off-limits to kids after 7 p.m., are scattered throughout the ship. This means the Wish doesn't have that true kid-free haven that the other ships have.

I also found that many parts of the ship, from the dining rooms to the pools, felt crowded

For all that criticism, my family and I enjoyed sailing on Disney Wish . But now that we've crossed it off our list, we won't be in any hurry to jump on board again unless the route is one we can't pass up.

Correction: June 7, 2024 — An earlier version of this story mislabeled a photo of Disney Wish as Disney Wonder.

Disney cruise passenger with pending sex crimes case caught with child sex abuse videos, authorities say

Feds: he had just gotten off ship at port everglades.

Chris Gothner , Digital Journalist

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Federal agents caught a man facing two child sex crime charges in Ohio with child sexual abuse material on his phone after he disembarked a Disney cruise ship at Port Everglades, authorities said.

Dakota Anthony Ferguson, 22, of Columbus, Ohio, appeared in Fort Lauderdale federal court on Monday on charges of transportation and possession of child pornography. Authorities arrested him after a border search of his cellphone after he got off the Disney Magic on Saturday, a federal criminal complaint obtained on Tuesday states.

Franklin County, Ohio court records obtained by Local 10 News show that Ferguson is facing two counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor after being arrested by the Columbus Police Department. According to those records, Ferguson was indicted in that case in September 2022.

In the latest case, court documents state that U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials conducted a secondary examination on Ferguson and found “numerous videos” of child sexual abuse material on his cellphone, “the majority of which” depicted prepubescent girls being raped or otherwise sexually abused.

Authorities said Ferguson admitted that he began looking at child sexual abuse material three years ago and has viewed and shared it on platforms including messaging app Telegram and social media outlet X, formerly known as Twitter. Agents allege that he’s purchased videos depicting victims as young as 2.

In one instance, federal authorities said Ferguson sent a video to a Telegram user with a caption implying that the footage showed him raping a family member.

Ferguson “denied producing this video, stating his only intent was to give the perception of production,” Homeland Security Investigations Special Agent Katherine Leonard wrote in the criminal complaint.

Ferguson’s Ohio indictment shows that he’s accused of engaging in “sexual conduct” with a victim between the ages of 13 and 15 in 2021, when he was 19. Records show he has pleaded not guilty in the case.

Local 10 News has contacted Disney Cruise Line inquiring about its background check procedures for passengers.

Ferguson remained held in the Broward Main Jail as of Tuesday; he’s scheduled to appear again in front of a Fort Lauderdale federal judge for a bond hearing next Monday.
