Denali is the highest peak in North America, rising an impressive 20,310 feet (6,190 meters) into the sky, and surrounded by the 6 million plus acres of Denali National Park and Preserve. Meaning “the Great One” or “High One” in the Athabascan language, visiting the mountain is often a highlight of any visit to Alaska.

Northern Alaska Tour Company operates flightseeing tours to Denali year-round. During the summer (May – September), you can take an oxygen-equipped summit flight from Healy (about a 20-minute drive from the park entrance) to gain the stunning perspective of a successful mountaineer. In the winter you can travel roundtrip from Fairbanks, flying low over the Tanana Valley and into Denali National Park.

Also, if you are visiting in the winter, we offer a guided ground tour out of Fairbanks to Denali which includes a nature walk to explore the winter wonderland of the park. You can even return via the Alaska Railroad on days that it is operating.

This is the ultimate flightseeing tour of Denali (formerly Mt McKinley)! Your multi-engine, oxygen-equipped aircraft will climb to nearly 21,000 feet for a dramatic view of Denali’s summit, the surrounding peaks and glaciers, and an amazing view of Denali National Park.

Sit back and relax while you experience the grandeur of the Alaska Range and its glaciers up close and personal. Feel the excitement only a few mountaineers have experienced — and from a view they have never seen — the view from the top of North America’s highest peak! Includes complete north and south side tour of Denali.

We leave with the same intent as the climbers —- to reach the summit! Weather, winds, and visibility will dictate our final route and success. We will only go when it is safe to fly and we know we are able to share Denali National Park with our guests on that day at that time —- but final altitude and what part of Denali we see will vary.

FLIGHT NOTES: We will be flying in a non-pressurized plane using supplemental oxygen. Guests with closed sinuses or who cannot use supplemental oxygen should not take this flight.

DENALI PEAK EXPERIENCE FLIGHT

Fly with the original flightseeing company in Denali for a thrilling and inspiring flight around the highest point in North America. Soar amongst the jagged peaks of the Alaska Range on a stunning 200-mile flight through Denali National Park to get within 1/2 mile of Denali. Weather permitting, this flight will circle Denali to see every spectacular corner of this majestic mountain. From takeoff to landing, the breathtaking views will have you on the edge of your seat. The 60-70 minute flight departs from our private airstrip on the eastern edge of Denali National Park, and you’ll enjoy the comfort and views from your window seat on our twin-engine plane. You’ll see braided rivers, wildly colorful ridgelines and velvety tundra-covered valleys as you climb towards pristine snow-covered peaks and tumbling icefalls en route to the Mountain. As you near Denali, you will thread between snowy alpine peaks, such as Mount Mather, Silverthrone and Mount Huntington. You’ll be flying at an optimal altitude that will give you the best perspective of the sheer size of the mountains of the Denali Massif. The varied sites in our tour of Fairbanks were all interesting! The pipeline and the Museum of the North were great! North Pole, Santa Claus House and the reindeer were fun! Our guide was informative, and pleasant!
