Hi Mr Pinoy, We will be going to Davao in January. What are the places of interest in around Davao for a 3 day trip?. Is it worth it to go all the way to see the 'Niagara Falls of Philippines, to Hinuatuan, to Butuan and then to Camguin Island, then to Cagayan De Oro. I have planned to visit Davao and the places of interest like Samao Island etc, then we will go to the Niagara Falls of Philippines, Hinatuan, Butuan, Camiguin Island and lastly to CDO. Duaw Davao Fest’s art exhibit and food truck bazaar open

As part of the activities lined up for the Duaw Davao Festival, the Duaw Davao Tourismo Arts and Food Trucks Bazaar opened on Thursday featuring close to 100 artworks and 15 sculpture exhibits created by local artists, as well as 12 food trucks lined up just outside the exhibit area.

The art and sculpture exhibits aim to not only promote and feature the cultures of Davao City through art pieces but to also boost the thriving art scene in the city. The art exhibits and sculpture exhibits featured in the gallery depict scenes of what Davao City is from its rich heritage, history, culture, and people to scenes depicting its present.

Meanwhile, the food bazaar deviates from the usual food bazaars held at other festivals like Kadayawan and Araw ng Davao as it features food trucks rather than food stalls. Each food truck offers a variety of foods from local cuisine to other delicacies.

City Councilor Pilar Braga, Head of the Education, Science, and Technology, Arts and Culture Committee, said in an interview with the City Information Office (CIO) that the art exhibit and food truck bazaar show one of the most important aspects of the city. She also hopes that through this activity, young Dabawenyos will find inspiration to dab into arts.

“I hope this will encourage our people, especially our young people to dab into art because art and culture are the soul of our city. You cannot know more about Davao City if you do not look into the arts and culture of our people,” Braga said.

During the opening of the exhibit, Ms. Donna Richel Sarong of the Museo Dabawenyo and Mr. Victor Navales, President of the Dabawenyo Artists Federation, Inc. (DAFI), delivered messages to the art community in the city and to every Dabawenyo on how the thriving art community of the city continues to reveal the heart of Davao through their creative pieces.

The exhibit officially opened with a ceremonial ribbon cutting and guided art and food truck tours. Visitors to the exhibit were also serenaded by several local artists.

Dabawenyos are invited to take part in the celebration of inspiring art pieces and creative flavors. The art and sculpture exhibit is located in Rizal Park, while the food trucks are lined up along Bolton Extension just outside the park. It is also open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and will run from June 27 to June 30. CIO
