PEOPLE LOVE US

I used this business on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 for a Seniors group to travel to the Grey Eagle Casino, Calgary from Strathmore. There were a total of 35 people in the group. We utilized the 56 passenger coach for our group so they could all be together in one Coach. We were delighted with the comfy seats, the excellent PA system, and the historical commentary provided by the Coach driver on our journey to and from the Casino; the added benefit of the large underbelly storage meant that the walkers didn't even need to be folded which was ideal for our group. The owner, Tony, was easy to deal with, very accommodating, and gifted our group with a bag of tasty Lindt chocolates which were a hit and disappeared quickly! I highly recommend this Shuttle service and would use it again for sure.

Iris Dunham (Event Coordinator for Ranch Estates)

This was the first tour I booked through TripAdvisor and was pleased with the whole process. Booking was simple and the tour was wonderful! Ian was our guide and he was very informative and friendly. We got on the tour at the Calgary Tower stop and we departed on time. We had a few issues finding one of the group members at another stop and got started on the tour a bit late. However, we didn't miss any stops and had plenty of time to take pictures and enjoy the views at each place. When we arrived in downtown Banff the driver gave us several recommendations for food. There was ample time for a sit down meal and some shopping. It was a really wonderful way to see the beauty of the area in a one day trip. Highly recommended!!!

(TripAdvisor Review)

Super happy with how the trip turned out, lots of good feedback about the new bus as well. Thank you for being flexible with the route change and many stops along the way out. It’s always a pleasure working with you on this trip!

Ian, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable about the area. This is a great way to get a taste of the National Park if you aren't hiring a car but bear in mind that they can't possibly show you as much as if you were driving yourself! It certainly made us keen to go back and spend more time in the areas we visited and more off the beaten track places in future. Don't forget that the altitude means that it can be a lot colder in the National Park than it is in Calgary, so take your gloves if going in autumn!

We loved the whole day! The tour of the Atlas Coal Mine was my favourite but my 15 year old daughter loved the Tyrell Museum. The whole day was very interactive and interesting. Norm was our guide for the entire day. He was friendly and full of knowledge. On the drive from Calgary to Drumheller, he gave us lots of facts of the city as well as the history of the area and the rock formations. My 13 year old son was able to get his energy out at our stops along the way and we were able to take a lot of great pictures. I would definitely recommend this company and tour. I am really glad we did it. We will be talking about it many years from now.

My friend and I had a wonderful and unforgettable experience at the Round the Block Tours. We did a tour around Calgary and in Drumheller so if you are a history buff this tour might be the one for you. Very friendly and accommodating hostesses, careful and kind bus drivers and especially Tony. Our favourite tour is the Drumheller tour, it’s a 3 hours drive with stops if you need a washroom and explore the near sites. We went to the Badlands (you’ll see Hoodoos which are really cool formed rocks so better have your camera with you), to the Drumheller Museum (approximately 2 hour tour in this; lots of dinosaur remains; will expand your knowledge about their history), to the underground coal mine (very cool tour; you get to wear helmets and go explore the underground coal mines and an excellent and very informative tour guide), you’ll go at the star mine suspension bridge too which was a little bit scary for us to cross but its worth it. It was a good day. We took a lot of good pictures. We made friends. We had fun and we’re up to do another tour from the Round the Block Tours in the future.

History of Calgary

Loved the tour. Very informative. Brian took the time to show us what made Calgary what it is today.

I have been living in Calgary for 14 years and accompanied a friend on the tour. What a pleasant experience! Our drivers on both tours were friendly and knowledgeable and full of interesting information about my home city that I never knew. I would highly recommend this city tour to visitors and locals

Even though it rained all day it was still an amazing trip. The Badlands and especially the Hoodoos are well worth seeing. The trip to the mine was very interesting. There were steps to climb but they were not that bad. Though due to the rain leaking through some of the gaps in the wall there were a few spots that needed a bit more care. The Tyrell Dinosaur museum was amazing and a great way to spend a rainy afternoon

A must to discover Calgary!

Price-quality ratio excellent! Well presented and organised! Brian, our guide, was a great and passionated speaker.

What a great day out - packed with lots of different activities and our tour guide and driver, Rose, was informative, helpful and made every effort to ensure we got the best out of the tour. It included stops at a number of scenic vantage points looking out on to various stunning landscapes or interesting geological or historical places, and a shoogly pedestrian suspension bridge for fun. A stop at a coal mine was fascinating and the conducted tour inside (by a specialist guide) a tremendous experience. The Royal Tyrrell museum is superb and well worth the two hours or so we were there. We even managed a short ferry ride. Whilst it was a long day for us - 7:15 am pick up and back around 6:30 or so - it was an even longer day for Rose but she was cheerful and informative to the end! Admissiions to the mine and the museum are included and its a small group tour so I thiught it excellent value. Lunch was extra and pruchased at a small school museum between the mine and the museum and was a good soup and sandwich, with pie to follow if desired - we tried one we hadn't come across before and it was home made and delicious.

Our firm booked RTB to take a group of 12 ladies to the mountains for a business networking hiking adventure. I received a call from Tony the day before to confirm details, our driver Rose called me when she arrived (half an hour early!!) and everything went great the whole day. Rose was super easy going, and made sure we were well taken care of. I will use RTB again next year for our 2nd annual hiking adventure!

(Karen K. TripAdvisor Review)

I had an extra day in Calgary, was looking for doing something and then I found this day trip. The booking was super easy and so was the day itself. The driver was waiting in front of the Calgary Tower and greeting me right away. We were 9 people on the tour from all over the world. It was the perfect size! The tour started at 7:30am and we had a little washroom break in Canmore. Our first stop was at Lake Louise where we had about 90mins so spend our time walking around and checking out the scenery. After that we headed to Moraine Lake where we had about 30mins -- a bit short for my liking but it was okay. We had to wait for a group member for about 15mins and because of the tight schedule our driver had to shorten our time in Banff down to about 1h15mins which I really disliked but she immediately offered to stay a little bit longer in the Rocky Mountains after checking with the group if that's okay. I really liked this kind of service, offering extra spare time! After Banff we went and had a look at Bow Falls, Surprise Corner and had 30mins at the Tunnel Mountains Hoodoos Trail to enjoy this beautiful view after heading back to Calgary where we arrived at around 7pm.

It was the perfect tour for getting a little insight in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Everything went really well, the driver was super nice and offered us free water during the trip. On the entire trip she told us a lot about the area, culture, history, etc. A lot of information, a lot of amazing nature, a great trip!

I would probably do it again!

Basing yourself in Calgary on your next Alberta trip is a great plan – there’s a lot to see in the city and within a short driving distance! In just one hour, you can immerse yourself in the foothills and then the Rocky Mountains, see dinosaur fossils at Dinosaur Provincial Park in the Canadian Badlands, and more. Even better, a stay in Calgary can introduce you to all kinds of fun experiences within city limits, and sometimes, the best way to experience any city is through guided tours.

Aerial View of Calgary

There are plenty of Calgary tours available, but we made the research and selection process more manageable by rounding up some highly recommended experiences. So whether you’re looking for tour operators right in Calgary or one to take you on a side trip to Drumheller or Banff or more, read through this guide to the best Calgary tours for inside the city and beyond.

canada bus tours from calgary

With so many great options it was hard to narrow it down, but because of the unique mode of transportation and the Calgary views, this tour rose to the top.

Take in the sights of the city on a vintage sidecar tour! On this 70-minute guided tour of Calgary, you can relax while your driver takes you around the city and narrates the sights along the way.

There is a brief stop for photos at either Scotsman’s Hill or Crescent Ridge where the driver also doubles as a pseudo-photographer for some tourist shots overlooking the heart of Calgary. Included in the ticket price is the option to choose your pick-up location from one of the downtown Calgary hotels or at the base of the Calgary Tower .

3-hour Bike Ride Through Beautiful Calgary and the Bow River

  • Tour Length: 3 hours
  • Star Ratings: 5 / 5 (10+ reviews)

Slow down and hop on two-wheeled transportation to connect with the city. See tourist hot spots like the Peace Bridge, Prince’s Island Park, Fort Calgary, the Calgary Stampede grounds, and more! Start your journey at Joe’s Garage Bicycle Rental and Repair in southwest Calgary and embark on a trip to 10 different spots throughout the city, all while hearing tales of conquest, mystery, and First Nations culture before ending back at the bike shop.

East Village Riverwalk

Hop in with your crew and enjoy a leisurely float at your own pace as you explore some natural parks and enjoy exceptional views of the cityscape. Depending on the river flow, this journey can take anywhere from 2 to 4 hours, and the final destination is Prince’s Island Park in the heart of the city.

Rafting on the Bow

What people love about vancouver to calgary tours.

I only wished it lasted longer
We enjoyed our tour very much, the sights were beautiful, staff we well informed. A highlight for us was the optional evening photographic tour. The only thing stopping me from giving five stars was the last day felt very rushed, especially at the Banff gondola as the queue to get on took half an hour and not enough time allocated to our lunch at the Lake Louise Chateau, we had to ask the waitress to bring out the dessert while we were eating the main as we only had 15 minutes until the bus left. Allocate a bit more time for those things and you will get five stars.
Excelente scenery wild life and outdoor experiences. I would back to west Canada but not in tour just driving by myself. We have great group and enjoy each other company

Recognition for Negro Leagues' baseball stars stirs memories of Alberta barnstorming tours

Famous players like satchel paige and cool papa bell came through western canada.

Social Sharing

Leroy (Satchel) Paige found himself pitching in front of thousands of fans in central Alberta for Ponoka's first annual baseball tournament in 1959.

Before making his mark on Major League Baseball (MLB), the Hall of Fame pitcher was a name to watch for in the Negro Leagues — and was involved in a number of firsts for baseball in Western Canada.

Now Paige and other baseball greats like Cool Papa Bell who played in Alberta will be in the MLB's official book after the league announced it is absorbing the available Negro Leagues numbers.

After the decision was announced last week, the move was stirring local memories of a time when barnstorming Black baseball greats drew huge crowds to exhibition games in Alberta.

The Negro Leagues were made up of African American players in the United States who were excluded from playing in the majors due to their race.

The leagues began at a national level in the 1920s but faded after Jackie Robinson became MLB's first Black player when he joined the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947.

  • He died at just 35 in 1947. Now Josh Gibson is baseball's batting average champ
  • The Buzzer Why baseball did the right thing by elevating the Negro Leagues to 'major'

"In Canada, you couldn't necessarily see Major League Baseball players come up here unless you had a minor league team," Ian Wilson, co-founder of Alberta Dugout Stories, a baseball blog and podcast, said in an interview on CBC's Calgary Eyeopener.

Until 1971, none of the players who predominantly played in the Negro Leagues were inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame.

That changed when Paige joined their ranks that year.

Barnstorming in 'Berta

Alberta's connection to baseball's history runs deep into the archives.

With a lot of Negro League teams and their affiliated players unable to draw large crowds in the U.S. — and some games even being protested — they often travelled north of the border, staging exhibition games in front of fans who otherwise wouldn't get the opportunity to see top-level talent.

Playing in Canada was often a better experience for the players, Wilson said, and a win for those on the diamond, in the dugout and in the stands

"From all the newspaper accounts that I've seen, the players seemed to enjoy Canada more,… It doesn't mean that there wasn't racism. I think there were some racist experiences, but there were less," he said.

"To get a chance to see a Satchel Paige, a Cool Papa Bell … what a real treat."

LISTEN | Ian Wilson talks about the baseball players who came through Alberta decades ago:

Regarded by many as the fastest man in the sport's history, James (Cool Papa) Bell gave Albertans a preview of what the Negro Leagues had to offer when he came through Edmonton in June of 1948 with the Kansas City Monarchs.

The once-blazing centre fielder was a player-manager at the time, with his career winding down, but he still gave fans a show, according to Wilson.

Bell made stops in Medicine Hat, Sylvan Lake, Camrose, Crowsnest Pass and Lethbridge.

Absorbing numbers 'enhances baseball history'

With statistics from the Negro Leagues now officially recorded, there's a chance for people to get into the game in a way they haven't before.

Ferguson Jenkins, the first Canadian MLB player inducted into the Hall of Fame, hopes the move will lead fans to learn more about the sport, its history and the Negro Leagues players.

MLB's inclusion of Negro Leagues stats will 'enhance baseball history,' Ferguson Jenkins says

"What it's done is it's going to enhance baseball history," he said in a CBC News Network interview.

"Youngsters who really don't know that much about baseball will get the opportunity to maybe read about some players that they just heard of but never seen."

Jenkins, whose father played for an all-Black baseball team in Chatham, Ont., in the 1930s, said he's hoping for more Canadian recognition now that the record books have been updated.
