Waveney River Tours have been sailing on Suffolk's Broads & Rivers since 1970. 

Our friendly crew are always delighted to share their knowledge of this ecologically diverse region with you as we explore these ancient marshland landscapes. 

Tours Start

Our tours start beside Mutford Lock a restored Sea Lock which is frequently in operation allowing coastal craft access to the Broads. 

Based here is the Waveney Princess equipped with an open top deck and offering panoramic views over the Broadland landscape. ​Reed Warblers and Reed Buntings can often be heard singing from the reed beds as we sail past and Marsh Harriers sometimes fly with us alongside the boat.

The River Waveney is famous for its floating yellow water lilies which start blooming during May. 

River Waveney Marshlands Cruise 

A delightful cruise along the Norfolk/Suffolk border travelling through the grazing marshlands on the Angles Way and taking in the waterside village of Burgh St Peter. Duration approx 90 minutes 

Sailing Daily April to October (except Mondays & Fridays during April, September & October)

Oulton Broad Circular Tour 

This sightseeing cruise sails around Oulton Broad and the first stretch of Oulton Dyke. See the boatyards and boathouses built along the banks of the largest Broad in the National Park. Duration approx 40 minutes 

Sailing Daily July and August at 1:00pm  Child £7.00 (under 2 yrs old FREE) Adult £10.00 

Victorian Heritage Cruise 

Following Sir Samuel Morton Peto's historic railway line through the Waveney Valley to the 100 year old railway swingbridge at Somerleyton. A good chance of seeing Marsh Harrier's on the wing. Duration approx 2 hours 

Sailing Daily July and August at 2:00pm  Child £12.00 (under 2 yrs old FREE) Adult £18.00

Waveney River Tours sail out of Oulton Broad and have been doing so since 1970 and our crew willingly share their knowledge about this beautiful diverse, ecologically sensitive region of Suffolk's Broads & Rivers.

Please Note - Due to  cover restrictions our 2021 sailings will commence from 21st June

Our tours start beside the restored Mutford Lock which is allows coastal craft in and out of the Broads. 

Our passenger boat, the Waveney Princess has an open top deck, offering panoramic views over the Broadland landscape. ​Reed Warblers and Reed Buntings can often be heard singing from the reed beds as we sail past and Marsh Harriers sometimes fly with us alongside the boat.

Disabled Access

Some Wheelchair spaces  are available and very well behaved dogs are welcome too.Waveney Princess is also equipped with toilets, a fully licensed bar, tea and coffee shop.

River Waveney Marshlands Cruise

This is a lovely cruise lasts for 90 minutes, travelling along the Norfolk/Suffolk and you an admire the beautiful yellow waterlilies, which the River Waveney is famous for, they bloom during the month of May

Sailing Daily April to October (except Mondays & Fridays during April & October)

This cruise lasts approximately 40 minutes and takes in the sights and sounds around Oulton Broad and the first stretch of Oulton Dyke.

Waveney River Tours have been sailing on Suffolk's Broads & Rivers since 1970.

All cruises depart from Mutford Lock, Bridge Road, Oulton Broad, NR33 9JS You do not need to book in advance as Tickets are sold on the day when the booking office Opens at 10.00am Or if you prefer to book ahead and reserve your space please call 01502 574903 and leave your Name, Number and How many Spaces, Date and Time of the cruise and we will be happy to put your name down on the reservation list.Some wheelchair capacity on cruises, Please call 01502 574903 for details. Well behaved dogs are welcome onboard .The cruises will take place on the passenger vessel The Waveney Princess. Live Commentary from the Skipper, Fully Licensed Bar, Small gift shop and two toilets onboard the vessel.

OULTON BROAD DAY BOATS Self drive boat hire by the hour or day, spend time afloat in the newly created Broads National park here in Suffolk. No visit to Suffolk is complete without a visit to the new Broads National Park. The boats are based in Oulton Broad, which is an interesting place to start.

This is the Broads southern gateway where the river Waveney meets the sea. Your boat could take you to the market town of Beccles or the Roman Fort at Burgh Castle. There are pubs and restaurants along the river banks where you could stop for a meal or just picnic on the riverbank.

River Waveney Sightseeing & Marshland Cruise – 90 minutes Cruise around Oulton Broad and along Oulton Dyke on the Waveney Princess. Enjoy panoramic views and take a peep at the riverside houses and boat sheds that line the riverbanks of the largest Broad in the National Park. The cruise then turns west passing the grazing marshlands along the Angles Way and the Waveney River Centre at Burgh St Peter.

2 Hour Cruise

  Along with our Victorian heritage this is often the best tour for seeing wildlife as we head into uninhabited stretches of the river.  The river Waveney is home to a diverse natural population which changes with the seasons and we may encounter Marsh Harriers, Otters and Dragonfly's on the way. We start at Mutford Sea Lock and travel past a redundant steam water pumping station to the old railway swingbridge which is sometimes seen in action.

Please bear in mind we want you to enjoy the tour but we cannot guarantee any particular wildlife sightings

It was a very hot day so we sat downstairs. Taking in the relaxing sights from the water was just what we needed. The Captain gave running commentary which was great.
