Best Wineries to Visit in Temecula Valley
Temecula Valley, within an hour's drive of San Diego, Palm Springs or Orange County, bills itself as Southern California's Wine Country. Though it got a later start than its better known northern California counterparts—pioneers like Mount Palomar and Callaway set up shop in the late 1960s—the Temecula Valley today is home to nearly 40 wineries. There is also a thriving "wine country" scene here with resorts, restaurants, tours and activities geared toward wine tourism. The scenery alone is a draw, with rolling hills and seasonal snow-capped peaks. Many Temecula wineries take advantage of the grape-loving warm days and cool nights (many are at altitude and affected by the Pacific Ocean fogs and breezes) to produce extensive portfolios of different wines. There is surely something here for everyone's taste. —Richard Nalley
Baily Vineyard and Winery
The Baily family was among the Temecula's first wave of wine producers, planting their first vineyard in 1982. Founder/winemaker Phil Baily concentrates on Bordeaux-derived grapes, and gives the reds up to 30 months in barrel for added smoothness. There are several ways to taste: The main tasting room is at the Baily Visitor Center, where you can drop in for a $15 tasting of current releases; you can also have lunch at the Baily's restaurant, Carol's, which includes live music on Saturdays and Sundays (and a doggie menu on Sundays). There is also a by-reservation tasting of older wines available at the production facility, for $20-$30. And for those just passing through, the Baily Wine Country Cafe in Old Town Temecula is owned by Phil Baily's son Chris. bailywinery.com
Briar Rose Winery
Here's something you won't find everywhere: A winery whose buildings are replicas of Snow White's cottages in the 1937 Disney cartoon. Briar Rose's founder was a Disney employee who built the cottages a generation ago for his wife. Now under the ownership of the Linkogle family (son Larry is a famous motocross racer), the property began bottling its own wines in 2007. Though it is a self-proclaimed "micro-winery" (topping out at about 3,500 cases), Briar Rose produces a bevy of wines, including its unique Talking Frog bubbly, a blend of Viognier and lager beer. Two important notes on the fairy tale: reservations are required, and no one under 21 is allowed on the property. briarrosewinery.com
Callaway Vineyard and Winery
The foundational winery of Temecula's new age, Callaway opened its doors way back in 1969. The visionary was Ely Callaway, better known for his golf gear empire, but the winery passed through corporate hands before being bought by the Lin family, who own it to this day. Modest-sized by California standards, Callaway's 25,000 cases make it one of the larger operations in Temecula. It bottles a slew of different wines, including Zinfandels and Syrahs. It is also a prime wine tourism destination, with a large, handsome tasting room and gift shop, and a variety of drop-in tasting and tour options, including a $25 cellar tour with barrel and tank samples. The Meritage restaurant offers locavore meals, with many ingredients grown on the property, and an extensive slate of concerts. callawaywinery.com
Churon Winery
Churon bills itself as a bit of France in Temecula, and has a chateau to prove it. The chateau is actually a boutique hotel in the midst of the vines (rooms start at around $180), with a grand lobby and views of the very Californian khaki-colored hills outside. The winery's tasting room, off the lobby, offers five pours for $12 from winemaker Benny Rodriguez's extensive lineup that ranges out to bubblies and dessert wines. Retail prices for non club members are typically in the $25-$35 range, including a world-spanning line-up of reds from Zinfandel to Malbec to a rarely seen Ruby Cabernet. innatchuronwinery.com
Cougar Vineyards & Winery
Rick and Jennifer Buffington put in years as home winemakers before buying their original Temecula vineyard in 2005. They followed their passion, focusing the operation on their own estate grapes to produce Italian wine varieties. Some are familiar—like Sangiovese, the basis of the Chianti blend—others less so, like Arneis, the wonderful white grape of Piemonte. In some cases—like Falanghina and Brachetto—Cougar claims to be the only U.S. winery producing the varietal. Tastings are $12 for six samples. You can also augment your tasting with panini, salads and pizza from the winery's Sangio's Deli. On Friday nights and Sundays there is live music. cougarvineyards.com
That classical music you hear? The Doffo family plays that to soothe the vines. Of course, the Argentine-born family patriarch, Marcelo, also vibes to less tame sounds: He is a vintage motorcycle racer and collector, whose MotoDoffo museum in the barrel room contains over 100 scooters and motor bikes (including a multi-decade anthology of Ducatis). The small-lot reds here, mostly Bordeaux-style blends, plus Syrah and Zinfandel, command stiff, often three-figure prices and some come in novel bottles like the jug-handled Zinfandel Reserve. There are also a number of specialty bottlings, including grappa and muscat brandy. Tastings start at $15, but reserve ahead for various vineyard tours. A visit to the motorcycle collection is free. doffowines.com
Europa Village
A destination spot in Temecula wine country, this ambitious, still-unfolding project includes a luxury, Spanish-style 10-room inn (prices begin at around $190) and a winery helmed by well-regarded veteran George Bursick. Under construction in 2017 will be additional components of the project, which will ultimately create three wineries and attendant resort facilities in the styles of France, Italy and Spain. The current wine lineup already seems to have the geographic bases covered. Over 30 wines are bottled here, ranging from dark reds to sparkling to dessert, with heritages that hearken back to all three countries and a few more. Tastings start at $15 for six samples. europavillage.com
Falkner Winery
The sweeping scenery from Falkner's 1,500-foot hilltop has made it not only popular for tasting visits, but for a brisk wedding business as well. The winery's aptly named Pinnacle Restaurant is a white-cloth place with wrap-around views and a creative touch with Mediterranean-influenced food (a Tamarind Ahi Lettuce Wrap, for instance). There is also a rentable private dining room amid the barrels down below. Like many Temecula wineries, Falkner produces an array of wines, topping out with the flagship Meritage Bordeaux-style red blend and Amante Super-Tuscan style red. The winery offers a menu of tour options, from a $20, 30-minute introduction and tasting to a $75, two-hour VIP tour with lunch at the Pinnacle. falknerwinery.com
One of Temecula Valley's pioneers, founded back in 1980, this is still a modestly sized (4,000 cases) family run operation, with family members pulling hoses in the cellar and pouring in the tasting room. In true Temecula fashion, the Harts' small production encompasses a nearly bewildering array of wines, from its much-awarded Sauvignon Blanc to Sangiovese and southern-Rhône style blends. The retail price entry-point is about $25. There is a $12 tasting fee for six samples, or $10 for a full glass. hartfamilywinery.com
Leoness Cellars
With its brick tower, Leoness is a familiar sight along the DePortola Wine Trail ( deportolawinetrail.com ), which begins not far from Old Town Temecula. Owned by two partners with deep roots in the valley's agriculture, Leoness benefits from the ground-up approach they bring to the wines, including the flagship Cabernet Sauvignons, some produced from the Rolling Hills vineyard just below the winery. The basic tasting here is $16 for six wines ($20 on weekends), but Leoness offers a slate of tours as well, such as a private $90-per person guided tour of the vineyard and cellar, which also includes a guided tasting. The well-regarded restaurant here is ambitious but pricey, with entrees running into the $40s. Book ahead or come early to get patio seating. leonesscellars.com
Longshadow Ranch Vineyards and Winery
Longshadow prides itself on its Old West flavor, but it is an upgraded version of the frontier, to be sure—complete with fine wine, carriage rides pulled by Belgian draft horses, and a very architectural version of a ranch house. The hillside vineyards produce a number of wines, among them Estate Sangiovese, Estate Syrah and a less usual Estate Cinsault. The event schedule here includes the "Legends of the Wild West" dinner theater on many Friday nights throughout the year. A pre-sale ticket is only $20, including dinner. Drop-in tastings are $15 for five wines—the panoramic view is free. longshadowranchwinery.com
Lorenzi Estate
Don Lorenzi's family has a long history of grape growing in southern California, but for him, it started as a hobby: He started as a home-winemaker, but in a matter of years he was making enough for friends to opening a winery. Finally, in 2013, he opened a tasting room. Lorenzi Estate, with the distinctive golden lion on the label, now produces 20+ different wines, though it is probably the rich reds that have garnered the greatest critical attention. Lorenzi's premium and super-premium priced lineup includes some exuberant, unconventional blends like the $95 The Phantom, which incorporates six grapes, including Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. Call ahead or go online to make a tasting reservation. lorenziestatewines.com
Lorimar Vineyards & Winery
Brothers-in-law Lawrie Lipton and Mark Mansfield have a big-picture view of wine country life, which includes their lively, fruit-forward wines (nearly 20 bottlings), plus two tasting venues, both of which integrate live music and art into the visitor experience. The Lorimar Loft in Old Town Temecula provides six tastes for $14 and music Friday and Saturday nights. The winery facility itself, out in the vineyards and orange groves, expands the offerings considerably. Drop-in tastings are $14-$18 for your choice of six wines, or the guided Reserve Tasting is $25. There are also several tour options, up to the Soprano ($149), which includes tastings and an hour-long cellar and vineyard tour for two (book at least 48 hours ahead). The winery also has an extensive slate of concerts, plus the Pairings restaurant on weekends (the Pairings food truck has also attracted a following). lorimarwinery.com
Maurice Car'rie Vineyard & Winery
Curiously punctuated Maurice Car'rie lays claim to the oldest vineyard in Temecula, planted back in 1968. The estate vineyard has now expanded to 91 acres, and provides the core of this winery's numerous bottlings under the Van Roekel Estate and Maurice Car'rie labels. The winery has garnered numerous awards, most recently for its whites, including the Gewurztraminer and Sauvignon Blanc. The place offers several perks to visitors besides its tastings ($15 for five samples), including its signature sourdough bread filled with brie, which can be consumed under the shade trees out on the lawn. On weekends, the winery hosts a craft fair selling everything from ceramics to designer handbags. mauricecarriewinery.com
Miramonte Winery
This hilltop winery has a laid-back feel during the week, with visitors dawdling on the patios and participating in VineyardFit fitness classes on the lawn. Things generally pick up on weekend days, and Miramonte offers live music Friday and Saturday nights. Miramonte describes itself as a Rhône specialist, with a notable Syrah, but there is an Iberian side to the place as well, with Tempranillo and even Sangria. Walk-in tastings don't require reservations, but the winery offers a slate of tours for those who book ahead. Other reasons to stop by include the healthy menus at the Flower Hill Bistro and the custom-etched wine bottle program for a special gift. miramontewinery.com
Monte de Oro Winery
Set on a picturesque hilltop with seasonal views of snow-capped mountains in several directions, Monte de Oro is one of the area's more heavily visited wineries, and it has a massive tasting room (with a glass floor view of the barrel cellar) to accommodate the traffic. The Rhône- and Bordeaux-influenced wines are available for sampling starting at $13-$15 for six tastes, or at the Monte de Oro Bistro on weekends. Go online to reserve a tour ($35-$60) or to buy tickets for special events. There is live music on Sundays and a summer concert series. montedeoro.com
Mount Palomar Winery
Set in the midst of its own 315 acres of vines, with views of snow-capped mountains, the locale at Mount Palomar is so scenic it advertises itself as a venue for photo shoots. One of Temecula's pioneer wineries, it helped set the paradigm for the Mediterranean-style grapes that have become a staple here. Among the winery's specialties are Italianate wines like the Kyanti blend (say it out loud), and Port and Sherry style wines, which they have produced for decades—Mount Palomar claims the oldest Sherry solera in the United States. Tastings are $16-$20 for a choice of six wines in the handsome tasting room. Also on the premises is the Annata bistro. The patio hosts live music on Saturdays and Sundays. mountpalomarwinery.com
Ponte Family Estate Winery
The Spanish Mission-style building that greets you gives way to a rustic-American, barn-style winery, all of it sleek and new-seeming at this well-funded winery and inn. The motto of the place is, "If you like it, it's good wine," and Ponte seems to being trying to produce at least one wine for everybody—its limited productions stretch over four distinct lines of wines, with the flagship reds priced around $35-$75. The tasting room isn't inexpensive either, at $20 for six tastes, but at least during the week you can count on a lot of personal attention. The Restaurant, with seating in the formal gardens, is open every day for lunch and dinner on weekends. The highly rated Ponte Vineyard Inn (rooms from about $219) makes a very comfortable home base for wine country visits. pontevineyardinn.com
Robert Renzoni Vineyards & Winery
The Renzoni story is both old and new. Old because the family started making wine back in 1886 in Italy. New because Robert Renzoni founded this winery in 2008, making use of the knowledge gained by his predecessors in Temecula viticulture. The winery concentrates on Zinfandel, Bordeaux and Italian varieties from its several sustainably farmed vineyards, including inventive blends like Big Fred's Red (1/2 Zin, 1/2 Sangiovese). Visitors can sample wines in the tasting room, which also offers a variety of prepared sauces and olive oils, or with Italian-inflected food from Mama's Trattoria. To see the place from an especially unique perspective, try booking the Renzoni hot air balloon. robertrenzonivineyards.com
South Coast Winery Resort & Spa/Carter Estate Winery
Real estate developer Jim Carter has merged his wine country dreams at this 38-acre resort property. On the wine side, the property produces a slew of different bottles under several labels, including the affordable South Coast Winery, the Wild Horse Peak, grown at elevation, and the pricey Carter Estate small lot wines. There are two tasting rooms here, including one for club members (non members pay $18-$22—on the weekend—for five tastes). There are also a number of book-ahead tour options. The well-equipped resort offers villas and suites (from around $200), spa treatments and the upscale Rose Restaurant. southcoastwinery.com

Learn About the Best Wineries in Temecula to Visit, Along with Recommended Temecula Wine Tours, Restaurants, Hotels & Vineyard Resort Options
Editor’s Note: This is not designed to be an all-encompassing list of Temecula wineries to visit, but rather a number of our favorites based on recent visitation. If you’ve visited a winery not on this list, we’d love to get your perspective and why it may deserve a spot on upcoming coverage!
Temecula wine country is tucked away in Southern California’s Inland Empire, making it perfect for a weekend wine tasting getaway. Temecula’s tasting rooms offer a blend of New World and Old World varieties for wine lovers to try. Home to more than fifty wineries and cultivating approximately thirty grape varieties, Temecula has everything from the familiar California varieties, like Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Zinfandel and Merlot alongside the not-so-typical, like Vermentino, Falanghina and the historically significant Mission Grape. Tempranillo, Sangiovese and Cabernet Franc.
Temecula is best known for bold red wines. Tempranillo has complex aromas of plums and black cherries, while its Sangiovese wines have soft tannins and riper fruit flavors compared to their Italian cousins. Syrah has won accolades for being round, fleshy, generous and full-flavored. Cabernet Franc has emerged as the star of the Bordeaux varieties and is fast earning a reputation for producing a full, elegant and aromatic style.

Where to Go Wine Tasting in Temecula
Planning a trip to Temecula couldn’t be simpler. Depending on how much time you have, the best way to taste wine, dine and discover the region is to explore one, two, or all three of its wine trails – and each is worth exploring for a full day.
The Rancho California Trail, The Calle Contento Trail and The De Portola Trail each offer a unique set of vineyards and wineries for tastings, dining, education, and entertainment. The easiest to access is The Rancho California Wine Trail, and it’s divided into western and eastern sections. Here you’ll find a large cluster of wineries and activities, and it is your best bet for maximum impact if you only have time for a day trip.
Day-One: The Rancho California Wine Trail
Visit Callaway Vineyard & Winery , the first commercial winery in Temecula Valley and home of Meritage Restaurant specializing in Farm to Table preparations.
Stop by Thornton Winery , known for their jazz concerts and wine tours in their French-style château.
Hart Winery offers unique wines like Angelica, a sweet, fortified style wine the Franciscan missionaries made during the late 1700s and one of the first wines made in California.
Baily Vineyard & Winery , where visitors are hosted in a medieval-themed tasting room and restaurant.
Monte de Oro has a great patio and is an excellent stop to enjoy a glass of Cabernet Franc with their famed meatball sandwich.
Wilson Creek Winery and Vineyards makes a sparkling almond wine that everybody raves about.
Day-Two: The Calle Contento Wine Trail
If you want to dig a little deeper into the Valley, take a detour along the meandering Calle Contento Wine Trail with its stunning vineyard views and backroad charm. The wineries located along this quiet road have a relaxed wine country vibe.
Falkner Winery , specializing in Super Tuscan and Meritage blends is home to The Pinnacle Restaurant with 360-degree views of its vineyards.
Briar Rose Winery features sit-down tastings in a to-scale reconstruction of Disney’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Cottage.
Longshadow Ranch Winery is a traditional California horse ranch where you can relax with a glass of their Gunslinger’s Reserve Zinfandel, Cabernet blend, or a pint of local craft beer.
Peltzer Farm & Winery highlights an extensive year-round events calendar with a festive atmosphere while serving over 100 years of farming experience in every taste of their wine.
Vindemia Vineyard, Winery, and Bed & Breakfast emphasizes sustainability, and you can taste the efforts in the glass. Plus, you can ride in one of their hot air balloons for a Wine and Sunrise Flight.
Day-Three: The De Portola Wine Trail
The De Portola Wine Trail is a five-mile stretch of rolling hills with wineries, equestrian facilities and some of the best views of the Valley.
Cougar Vineyard & Winery featuring estate grown Italian varietals including Primitivo , Pinot Grigio, and Montepulciano that you can enjoy with Sangio’s Deli hand-tossed pizzas, salads, and appetizers.
Danza del sol Winery is set in an idyllic Spanish style estate with table-side wine tasting service.
Oak Mountain Winery has hilltop views where you can sample their sparkling raspberry and sparkling strawberry wines.
Robert Renzoni Vineyards offers great views and their restaurant, Mama Rosa’s Trattoria, has the only brick wood-burning pizza oven in the Valley.
Somerset Winery specializes in wines made from the Rhône varieties such as Viognier, Roussanne, Grenache, Syrah, and the Spanish Macabeo, Monastrell and Tempranillo.
Winetraveler Tip: Southern California is warm and pleasant most of the year, but be aware that the high desert gets very hot in the summer.
Unlike most wine regions, Temecula Valley has lodging at many of the wineries, which means you can spend the day wine tasting without having to travel. What can be better than enjoying a leisurely breakfast among the vines before exploring some more?
South Coast Winery Resort & Spa is situated on 38 acres of vineyards. Here you’ll experience amenities like spacious suites, fireplaces, pools, spa service and all-day dining.
Carter Estate Winery and Resort offers rooms that overlook the Estate with fireplaces and private balconies or patios and a pool with a neighboring bar.
Ponte Vineyard Inn is a stunning hotel and winery with elegant rooms and a relaxing atmosphere. Guests and visitors can dine surrounded by Italian gardens or have a cocktail at their full-service bar that incidentally is the only place offering spirits in Temecula wine country.
Pechanga Resort & Casino has a full-service hotel where you can enjoy Las Vegas-style gaming, all-night entertainment before unwinding at their state-of-the-art spa.
Fun Fact: Temecula is the only city in California to still retain its original Native American name.

Temecula Wine Country History
The story of Temecula is rich and varied. The known history starts with the Pechanga Band of Luiseño Indians, who have called the Temecula Valley home for more than 10,000 years. The name ‘Temecula’ loosely translates to “Where the sun breaks through the mist.” After the arrival of Europeans, it became an outpost for Spanish Missionaries who were the first to plant grapes before becoming a Mexican army outpost in the Mexican-American War, and later a railroad town with a Wild West reputation.
Coastal mountain ranges and inland valleys border the Temecula Valley. The sun heats the valleys east of Temecula. The warm air rises, pulling the Pacific Ocean’s cooler air through two mountain ranges, the Rainbow Gap and the Santa Margarita Gap. This cool air creates the pattern of warm days, breezy afternoons, and refreshing nights, resulting in the perfect location for wine grape cultivation and for enjoying the outdoors.

Sip by Sip: A Curated Guide to the 24 Must-Visit Wineries of Temecula
Written by:
Julien Raby
Last updated:
Nestled within Southern California’s scenic Riverside County lies Temecula Valley, a wine lover’s paradise renowned for its unique terroir, sun-kissed vineyards, and exceptional winemaking heritage. With a history that traces back to the Spanish missionaries, this burgeoning wine region has undergone a renaissance over recent decades, evolving into a destination that beckons with its boutique charm and artisanal excellence.
While choosing from its myriad of wineries might seem a daunting task, we’ve curated a list of the top 22 Temecula wineries that stand out not just for their exquisite wines, but for the stories they tell, the experiences they offer, and the memories they create. Whether you’re a seasoned oenophile or a casual wine enthusiast, embark with us on a vinous journey through Temecula’s most celebrated vineyards.
But first, here are some particularities of the wines and wineries of Temecula
Temecula Valley:
- Climate & Geography: Located in Southern California, Temecula benefits from a unique microclimate due to its proximity to the Pacific Ocean. This ensures a daily pattern of warm days followed by cooler evenings, which is optimal for grape maturation. The region is also shielded by surrounding mountain ranges, ensuring the vineyards are less affected by coastal fog, a factor more prevalent in Northern California.
- Soil Composition: Temecula’s soil is diverse and influenced by its geographical placement between the desert and the sea. It’s largely decomposed granite mixed with clay loam, which is excellent for drainage.
- Varietals: While Temecula wineries produce a wide variety of wines, they’ve had notable success with Mediterranean varietals, such as Syrah, Viognier, and Sangiovese, as well as Spanish grapes like Tempranillo.
- Size & Atmosphere: Many of Temecula’s wineries are family-owned and possess a boutique charm. The atmosphere tends to be relaxed and welcoming, making it an approachable destination for all wine enthusiasts.
- Wine Styles: Beyond the traditional still wines, Temecula also boasts several wineries that produce méthode champenoise sparkling wines.

Are Temecula wineries worth visiting?
Absolutely! Temecula wineries offer a unique and intimate wine-tasting experience. With its scenic vineyards, welcoming atmosphere, and a blend of both modern and traditional winemaking practices, it’s a destination that caters to both seasoned wine aficionados and casual wine enthusiasts. The region is particularly known for its boutique charm, making it perfect for those looking for a more relaxed wine country experience.
What kind of wine is Temecula known for?
While Temecula produces a diverse range of wines, the region has gained notable recognition for its Mediterranean and Spanish varietals such as Syrah, Viognier, Sangiovese, and Tempranillo. Additionally, the area’s unique microclimate allows for successful cultivation of both white and red grape varieties.
What is the average cost of wine tasting in Temecula?
As of my last update in September 2021, the average cost of wine tasting in Temecula ranged from $15 to $40 per person, depending on the winery and the specific tasting experience chosen. Some wineries offer more premium or reserve tastings at a higher price. It’s always a good idea to check the individual winery’s website or contact them directly for the most current tasting fees.
How many wineries are in the Temecula area?
Temecula Valley is home to over 40 licensed wineries. This number continues to grow as the region’s wine industry flourishes and attracts new winemakers and entrepreneurs. From family-owned boutique wineries to larger, more established estates, there’s a diverse array to explore.

Consistent 5-star ratings on TripAdvisor, Yelp, and every other review site confirm that a wine tour with Grapeline is an ideal way to explore Temecula Valley Wine Country. A family business founded in 2002 by Kim and John Kelliher, Grapeline is passionate about sharing the best of Temecula Wine Country with our guests and delivering real value. Options include custom private tours, 3-winery and 4-winery shared tours, special event transportation, and by-the-hour chauffeured services with sedans, limos, executive SUV's, and deluxe coaches of all sizes.
Are you ready for Temecula’s first Kay Syrah Signature Series Event of 2024? I'm excited to present 'Bubbles, Brunch, & Bourbon,' an exquisite journey through Temecula's renowned wine country on Sunday, May 26, 2024, with Grapeline’s Chief Winos, John and Kim Kelliher. This tour will offer an unforgettable experience, combining the elegance of sparkling wines, the delight of a gourmet brunch, and the rich warmth of bourbon at Temecula's most beloved wineries.
Our adventure begins at Carter Estate Winery and Resort , a gem in the heart of Temecula. Here, you'll indulge in their meticulously crafted sparkling wines, produced using the true champagne method, Méthode Champenoise. Carter Estate's commitment to excellence makes it the perfect starting point for our day, setting a high standard with bubbles that dance on your palate.
Next, we'll visit Masia de la Vinya Winery , where the charm of Spanish influence meets the lush landscapes of Temecula. Prepare your taste buds for a culinary delight as brunch will be masterfully prepared by Savage Chef Dylan Soro. Known for his innovative and fearless approach to flavors, Chef Soro's creations promise to be a feast for the senses, perfectly paired with Masia's exquisite wines.
Our final stop takes us to Oak Mountain Winery , where we'll embrace the bold spirit of bourbon. In April 2024, Oak Mountain will begin offering distillery tours, and our visit will be among the first to experience their tour. Nestled within either their unique cave setting or speakeasy, this experience will provide a hearty conclusion to our day, surrounded by the expertise and passion that Oak Mountain pours into every bottle.
'Bubbles, Brunch, & Bourbon' is not just a wine tour; it's an opportunity to immerse yourself in the beauty, flavors, and hospitality that make Temecula Wine Country unforgettable. Join us for a day of exploration, enjoyment, and exquisite tastes. BOOK your spot now for a journey filled with the best that Temecula has to offer. Cheers to an experience that will linger in your memories and on your palate long after the day is done.

NEW RELEASES & FEATURED WINES
2023 WHITE CROWDED
Like an overflowing basket of pineapples, pears, grapefruits, coconuts, and nectarines, our White Crowded tickles the nose with ample, enticingly complex aromas, then unhurriedly languishes across the palate with a crisp, lingering finish and just the slightest sweetness.
2020 RESERVE CABERNET SAUVIGNON
Our 2020 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon overflows with decadent notes of juicy red plum, fresh herbs, and vanilla bean with an intensely concentrated palate, dripping with ripe raspberry and light roast coffee alongside elegant, round tannins framing the lengthy finish.
2020 REUNION
Our Reunion marries two of the greatest French grapes: Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. The Syrah provides a smoked oak character with a dense, dark fruit core, while the Cabernet Sauvignon provides a brighter fruit profile of raspberry and currant, with a bold tannin structure to fill out the blend and allow the wine to cellar gracefully.
2022 VERMENTINO
Aromas of pineapple and lemon zest enchant the senses before pink grapefruit and almond enrich the palate, with a touch of minerality completing the picture on this hand crafted, stylish Italian varietal.
2023 INTENTO BIANCO
Introducing Intento Bianco, the vibrant counterpart to our renowned Intento blend. Crafted with the same intention of achieving balance, while celebrating the Italian varietals expressed in each vintage, this white blend is perfect for savoring both now, or being saved for a special occasion.
FAMILY, QUALITY & INTEGRITY
The legacy of Wiens lives on, bigger and better than ever before.
Welcome to our Tasting Room – a warm, inviting setting of rich wooden finishes, mahogany bars, and a marble fireplace. A relaxed space to discover our wine and hospitality. Outside the main entrance is our Exterior Patio with ample seating, a large grassy area, and glimpses of our surrounding vineyards.
Raise a glass & enjoy yourself in the comfort of our California valley!

Temecula Valley Wineries
The Temecula Valley is Southern California's Wine Country. Nearly 50 wineries populate the region’s rolling hills and sprawling valleys producing a variety of wines, including award-winning and artisan Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir. Visitors can tour wine country on their own, tasting and sipping at their leisure utilizing our Temecula Winery Map, or charter a guided tour of the wineries for the ultimate relaxing splurge. Shuttle and limousine transportation options can get your group to and from the region’s diverse wineries with ease. Raise your glass and let’s sip the bounty of the Temecula Valley Wine Country region.
Your favorite wines are made right here in Southern California. The climate in Southern California and Temecula Valley is just perfect for most varietals. Look at our Winery Map and take a tour of this beloved region. Most wineries offer tasting rooms and property tours that are available and open to the public, however, some require reservations. Please check each winery for specific information.
Winery F.A.Q.S
Our hand-crafted wines are grown from dozens of grape varieties, including well-known favorites like Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah as well as offbeat Mediterranean varieties like Sangiovese, Grenache, Tempranillo, and Vermentino. Also, widely popular and available is Petite Sirah.
$20-$30, some offer weekday discounts.
Monday through Thursday offers a relaxing atmosphere with less visitors, making this an opportune time for chance conversations with a winery owner or winemaker since they are usually on the property and mingling midweek. There's also time for questions and quality discussions with a sommelier.
Most wineries are open daily from 11:00am to 5:00-6:00pm.
Typically, three wineries are an adequate amount to taste and visit while keeping a relaxed pace. All the wineries are in close proximity to each other, making it easy to navigate.

9 Temecula Winery Restaurants You Need To Try
K nown as a premier Southern California Wine Country region, Temecula beckons and beguiles with its Mediterranean climate, rolling hills reminiscent of Italy’s Tuscan landscape, award-winning world-class wines and creative cuisine.
While Temecula offers a myriad of places to eat and imbibe, there’s something very special about dining among the vines in classy settings with spectacular views at one of these fantastic Temecula Winery restaurants.
As a San Diego local who often frequents this region, I’ll share my must-visit winery restaurants in Temecula guaranteed to be palate-pleasing wine and dine adventures.

The Vineyard Rose at South Coast Winery
Address: 4843 Rancho California Road, Temecula, CA 92591
Phone: (951) 566-4622
Read our full review of South Coast Winery here>>
The Tuscan architecture of this lovely winery, resort and spa property is carried through in its elegant fine-dining, open-beam restaurant also featuring a cozy wine bar and outdoor terrace for a classic Temecula Valley Wine Country dining experience surrounded by vineyard views.
Guests can enjoy classic California cuisine sourced from the season’s local fresh ingredients during breakfast, lunch and dinner hours.
Dining here for one breakfast and one dinner during my stay allowed me the opportunity to try out some amazing breakfast fare as well as dinner specialties.
Breakfast choices range from light fares to full-plate day starters. Dinner features meal openers, soups, salads and an array of land and sea selections.
Avensole Restaurant at Avensole Winery
Address: 34567 Rancho California Rd., Temecula, CA 92591
Phone: (951) 252-2003
Avensole is Temecula’s newest winery restaurant, and it’s impressive.
Open for lunch daily, in addition to dinners Thursday through Saturday along with Sunday brunch, this has become one of my new favorites. The menu and entrees featuring California-inspired cuisine are incredible, service is outstanding and terrace vineyard views are amazing.
You’ll find caviar selections along with starters, salads, sandwiches, burgers, steaks, and other main entrees. I love the Celebration Salad with roasted beets, goat cheese, grapes, crushed walnuts, and feta cheese. Add some grilled salmon, and you have foodie perfection. Crispy Yellowfin Ahi Tuna is another impressive choice- totally different from what we expected, but such a surprising treasure.
Flatbreads here are amazing, and Angus burgers are bountiful, perfectly cooked to order. Ask your server for wine pairing suggestions as this is another of our favorite Temecula wineries with impressive varietals.
Bolero at Europa Village
Address: 38311 De Portola Road, Temecula, CA 92592
Phone: (951) 302-7601
You’ll truly believe you’re in Barcelona when you enter this Spanish-themed winery restaurant.
Bolero features Spanish-style tapas that are so amazing you’ll be hard-pressed to order anything different on your return visit. But return you will, and you should, just for the dining experience and to taste all the other tantalizing menu offerings from the garden, land and sea.
Bolero serves breakfast, lunch and dinner along with weekend brunch with both indoor and outdoor patio dining.
Having been here for lunch and dinner with friends, I’d recommend The Grilled Octopus and the Spanish Mussels. One of the four paella dishes is a must-do for dinner, serving two to four guests though more likely four as portions are hearty.
In lieu of a popular mixed seafood and Spanish chorizo offering, we opted for the Wild Mushroom and Artichoke Paella, and oh my, what a surprising, sumptuous treat. Paired with the reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, this dish was impressive.
Creekside Grille at Wilson Creek
Address: 35690 Rancho California Rd, Temecula, CA
Phone : (951) 699-9463
Creekside Grille offers a consistently pleasing dining experience no matter how many times we’ve visited Wilson Creek.
Guests can enjoy seasonal-inspired cuisine from local Temecula farms in both a warm and welcoming indoor or outdoor setting. The menu features starters, salads and main entrees.
If you’re a seafood lover, the Pacifico Striped Bass with a lobster and basil velouté over forbidden rice accompanied by a petite salad with Peruvian peppers and citrus vinaigrette is something you’d expect from a really really high-end fine dining restaurant. It was spectacular!
Being with a group of friends who are all “tasters,” I was also able to take bites of the Hanger Steak with a roasted jalapeno compound butter, plantain and potato hash and the vegetarian Portobello Caprese Sandwich. Both were outstanding as well.
Flower Hill Bistro at Miramonte
Address: 33410 Ranch California Rd., Temecula, CA 92591
Phone: (951) 506-5500
Though I’ve enjoyed wine tasting at this winery in the past, I’d never been to their restaurant until my most recent visit to Temecula and wow, were I and my friends impressed.
The setting alone is worth a visit as the bistro is located in Miramonte’s upper veranda offering stunning views of the rolling vineyards and surrounding landscape.
Entrees are scratch-made daily, so everything is fresh and beautifully presented. I highly suggest shares that include the Stuffed Mushrooms with goat cheese, asiago, mozzarella and garlic Brussels Sprouts finished with a balsamic drizzle (yes, Brussels Sprouts and it’s an incredible dish).
And we could have all licked the plate clean on the Spread & Bread, a house-made hummus paired with tzatziki and olive tapenade with fresh cucumber and carrot and a toasted baguette. Flatbreads here are equally amazing with four different types to choose from.
Bouquet Restaurant at Ponte
Address: 35001 Rancho California Rd., Temecula, CA 92591
Phone: (951) 676-7898
Nestled in a lush garden courtyard setting, the restaurant offers al fresco Wine Country dining at its best.
Guests can enjoy brunch or dinner on the terrace surrounded by manicured Italian gardens with stunning views of the vineyard and its one-acre pond.
The restaurant serves brunch and cocktails every day of the week and dinner on Friday and Saturday evenings, with live music on weekends from 11 am to 2 pm.
Popular with our group of lady friends at brunch was the Cheese Blintz filled with ricotta cheese and a seasonal berry compote. Huevos Rancheros were just as impressive as any we’ve had south of the border, and the Avocado Toast was equally delightful.
You’ll also find charcuterie, salads, burgers and wraps on the brunch menu as well.
Meritage at Callaway
Address: 32720 Rancho California Rd., Temecula, CA 92592
Phone: (951) 587-8899
Meritage is an elegant yet relaxed dining experience perched high above picturesque rolling hills and vineyards of Temecula Wine Country on the grounds of Callaway Winery. Meritage serves lunch every day of the week and dinners on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Blackened Ahi Tuna tapas are a favorite lunch choice, and if you like figs, the Grilled Fig Salad is an ideal option with pancetta, arugula, grilled figs, chevre, candied pecans and topped with a port-fig vinaigrette. Flatbreads here are always a winner, especially the Brussels Sprouts Flatbread, a totally unique melding.
Pinnacle Restaurant at Falkner
Address: 40620 Calle Contento, Temecula, CA 92591
Phone: (951) 676-8231
Panoramic views from Falkner Winery’s Pinnacle Restaurant are simply stunning.
Serving lunch throughout the week and weekend brunch, Pinnacle, featuring Mediterranean-inspired cuisine has always been a favorite place of ours to dine, providing the same top-notch service as their wine-tasting room’s service reputation.
One must-order dish is the restaurant’s Crispy Brussels Sprouts served with a fried egg on top. It’s incredible and unforgettable. I tend to judge a Mediterranean or Italian restaurant by their seafood pasta, and I can guarantee that Pinnacle’s Fruitti de Mare, a house-made fettuccine tossed in garlic, olive oil and white wine, topped with sauteed shrimp and seared scallops had me happy and smiling.
The Restaurant at Leoness
Locals and visitors who know Temecula wines will tell you that Leoness is one of the area’s favorite wineries. Liquid magic from its barrels has garnished numerous awards for both its red and white varietals.
But it’s not just the wines that take the prize here. The Restaurant at Leoness features California cuisine with applied French cooking techniques for its seasonal cuisine crafted from locally sourced ingredients. The picturesque backdrop of the vineyards and surrounding mountains only add to the impressive ambiance.
Reservations are highly recommended as the restaurant is only open on Friday and Saturday from 11:30 am to 7 pm and Sunday from 11:30 am to 5 pm.
Courses range from starters, tantalizing salads, unique flatbreads, seafood, pastas and decadent desserts. Pair these with a Leoness favorite or other Temecula wine and you’ll savor your dining experience here.
Recommended entrees? If you like risotto, go for the Wild Mushroom Carnaloni Risotto with aged parmesan and pea sprouts. Game meat lovers will enjoy the Wind Hills Cornish Game Hen or Maple Leaf Farms Confit Duck.
Wine may have put Temecula Valley on the map, but its creative restaurateurs and talented chefs are outdoing one another on the foodie scene- especially at its winery restaurants.
So, the next time you’re in Temecula, consider dining at one or more of these impressive Temecula winery restaurants. You’ll be glad you did.

It was a beautiful day for wine tasting last Sunday! We had reservations for the outside patio. Jenna was our server- she was amazing!! We loved our tastings- it was a set price to taste 5 wines! We didn't try the restaurant, but we will be back!
I enjoy going to Temecula and partaking in wine tasting. This place has to be the friendliest of them all! We were greeted immediately and was given a break down of how we can enjoy our time at the wine bar. We decided to do some sampling and the staff were all knowledgeable of their wines. Great outdoor terrace where you can sit and enjoy the scenery. They did have a live singer who added to the ambience.

Hello Christine, thank you so much for taking the time to share your wonderful experience with us! We're thrilled to read that you enjoyed your stop to our winery during your visit to Temecula. It's always our goal to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for our guests, and we're delighted to know that you found us to be the friendliest of all the places you've visited. We're glad you appreciated the breakdown of how to make the most of your time at the wine bar, and it's fantastic to hear that our staff's knowledge of the wines added to your overall experience. Our outdoor terrace is indeed a special space, and we're pleased that you could relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Thank you again for your time, and we look forward to welcoming you back for another memorable wine-tasting experience.
Nice amount of outdoor seating and is a family friendly location. There were plenty of families and quite a few young children running around. Unfortunately, the wines were not to our taste. I went with two others and the sentiment was that the wine was too sweet and had a sort of thicker consistency or had a sort of strong bitter aftertaste - which we were not partial to. Among the 3 of us, we were able to try 15 different wines and we enjoyed the two sparkling wines the most.

Hello Shelley Y., thank you for sharing your experience. We're delighted you enjoyed our beautiful outdoor seating. It's valuable to read your feedback on the wines; we'll consider this input as we aim to enhance our offerings. We're pleased you found joy in the sparkling wines and hope to welcome you back for more delightful moments.
Very nice wine selection and the staff is very educated about the wines. The outdoor area is beautiful and love the live music.

Hello Maya R, thank you for your kind words and positive feedback! We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed our wine selection and that our staff's knowledge was appreciated. It's wonderful to know you found our outdoor area beautiful and enjoyed the live music. We look forward to welcoming you back for another delightful experience.
Avensole is easily the most well kept winery in Temecula Valley. The winery is secluded from other wineries (at the top of the hill) and makes for epic sunsets every night. The grounds are always so well kept! Velvet green grass that always appears freshly cut, flower bushes trimmed and blooming, a pond with a fountain in the middle....and of course, endless vineyards. Avensole is the perfect winery to create memories with stunning backdrops for photos. The wines are delicious! They have reds, whites, rosé and sparkling. The tasting room inside is grand! Plenty of space inside to sip and enjoy a glass of wine. Service is friendly and quick (sometimes a wait on the weekends, but that is expected). There is also an outside area that features a covered patio (and misters, which are a lifesaver during the hot summer months). There is plenty of seating and typically you do have to check in to get outside seating and a server is assigned to your table so you don't lose your spot running into the tasting room for a refill. PROS: * delicious red and white wine * indoor tasting room * outside seating (shaded with misters in the hot months) * snacks available in the tasting room * restaurant on site * dog friendly * kid friendly * plenty of parking (parking lot and dirt parking in the back) * romantic spot for a wedding CONS: * can be pricey, even with a wine club membership * it does get busy on the weekend, just be patient, it is worth the wait!

Hello Chelsea, thank you for taking the time to write a review and share about our winery. We pride ourselves in our pristine grounds. Our team works diligently on a daily basis to maintain the property immaculate. Thank you for taking notice, we truly value when our guests take the time to appreciate the hard labor involved. We look forward to the opportunity to serve you again soon!
I came to this winery specifically because I received a 2 for 1 tasting coupon from a Yelp/BMW event, so I was excited to finally make my way here during my trip to Temecula. We arrived at opening, so it was still pretty empty and we got seated outdoors right away. We did two wine tastings and tried a variety of whites, rose, reds, and dessert wines. The service was great and the sommelier helping us made great timing with each round and knowledgeable about the wines. The winery views aren't as expansive here, so just a nice quaint spot to chill and sip on wine. It was a decent place overall, but what went downhill was when I was about to get the check to pay. When I brought out my coupon, I was turned down because apparently it only applies to the indoor wine wasting (not outdoors). If I knew that, I would've opted for inside or just got one tasting. And then I got my bill for the 2 wine tastings only to find out that it was $40 for outdoors but $30 for indoors. So basically, I got an up charge of $10 more per tasting and couldn't use my coupon. I was pretty annoyed that I ended up spending so much more than I planned here all because of sitting outdoors. It's such a shame because the people working were very nice, but the price and rules made this not enjoyable anymore. On top of that, I didn't have the best experience previously at their restaurant either, so now they're 0-2 for me. With so many wineries around, there's many better options to check out.

Dear Cindy, we appreciate you taking the time to visit our winery and sharing your feedback with us. We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed the wine tastings and the attentive service provided by our sommelier. However, we sincerely apologize for the confusion regarding the coupon and the pricing disparity between indoor and outdoor tastings. We understand your frustration, and this is not the experience we want our guests to have. We value your feedback, and we'll use it as an opportunity to improve our communication and pricing policies to ensure a more transparent and enjoyable experience for all our visitors. We hope you might consider giving us another chance in the future, as we're committed to providing exceptional wine experiences. Thank you for your honesty, and we apologize for any inconvenience caused during your visit.
My wife and I visited here last Sunday. And we had a lot of fun. I wish u can give the winery and the restaurant separate ratings. So here it goes. The winery ** Looks very nice, peaceful vibes however; --They don't serve flights. --The charcuterie board is in a plastic to go container (BIG NO-NO) --Every 2 seconds an employee would come and say can I take these glasses away. I had to tell them "NO! You guys asked like 20 times already". --They don't serve you the wine. You have to get one glass at a time from the bar. JUST A BIG MESS! The Restaurant ****** The restaurant was complete perfection. Service was 5/5 fastest service I've ever received in any restaurant Food was 5/5. Got exactly what we ordered. Nothing less than perfection. Our waiter CHRISTIAN was excellent! Very informative. Very polite and professional. Also very fast too. I don't remember what I asked for he brought it for me in less than 30 seconds. Amazing!

Hello, Argin, thank you for joining us and for taking the time to write such a detailed review. We truly appreciate your time and feedback about your recent experience, both, at our Tasting Room and at the Restaurant. At Avensole Winery we strive to provide excellent quality and service to our guests, and we understand that is not what you experienced. We have addressed your feedback with our tasting room team, and rest assured we have taken your words to heart. We understand your visit to our restaurant met our standards, and that Christian provided you with excellent service. We will make sure to share your kind words with him. We appreciate the time you took to send the review, your support of our winery, as well as the opportunity you are giving us to learn, grow, and make it better.
I'm a beer girl on a wine tour! I plan to visit every winery in the Temecula area and tell you all about it. I am bringing some actual vino people with me to help with the wine speak. My reviews will mostly be about the location and vibe. VISUALLY STUNNING! We decided to try lunch here first. We sat outside, and luckily, it wasn't too hot to do so. Pretty straightforward menu with something for everyone. We ordered the brussels sprouts, charcuterie platter, and burger. The tropical breeze sangria is summer in a glass! I would buy it by the gallon for pool parties! Service was good, as was the food. Down to the tasting room! They have an option for sitting outside with a one on one server (thats the only way to sit outside), or you can belly up inside. We chose the latter. Friendly staff and a nice big tasting area. The favorite whites were Melody Twins and the Chardonnay. The Chanson was the favorite red with Summit Winds a close 2nd. The view is spectacular, and the only downfall I see here is not being able to utilize the outdoor tables while enjoying a glass. Will be back!

Beautiful spot and yummy wines! Had lots of whites, and they were delish--no complaints. Picked a perfect, sunny afternoon for tasting. Wasn't too busy and were given great recommendations and quick help when we went to the counter. It's such a lovely venue; I could see really pretty weddings happening here. This was a great stop on our tasting passports.

Beautiful setting. We first did a wine tasting. Our host was great, but unfortunately I didn't get his name. Bought 4 bottles of wine and took one of them with us to lunch at the restaurant. Service was good. Food was good. Simply a relaxed and enjoyable outing. We will definitely be back during future visits to Temecula.
