Less than 30 minutes from San Antonio is Natural Bridge Caverns, the largest commercial caves in Texas. These spectacular caves are known for their huge open rooms but they also have narrow passages and interesting formations.

Two types of cave tours are available and take approximately 70 minutes. The Pearl is a trendy historic district of San Antonio, with lovely restored buildings, unique shops, and a reputation for great cuisine and hip restaurants . Blue Star Arts Complex Blue Star Arts Complex free

Idyllically set along the San Antonio River, the Blue Star Arts Complex is a vibrant mixed-use property that serves as the nucleus of local art in San Antonio's Southtown. Repurposed warehouses hold shops, restaurants and an arthouse cinema, in addition to studios and galleries. Don't miss the Contemporary at Blue Star, which hosts more than 20 exhibitions each year within its four on-site galleries (and various off-site locations). 

Aside from checking out the art and shops at the Blue Star Arts Complex, one of the most recommended activities is to rent a bicycle from Blue Star Bike Shop to either ride around neighboring King William and Southtown or along the Mission Trail (Blue Star is a trailhead for Mission Reach, which connects four of the five missions to the south). After you return your bike, enjoy beer and a burger at Blue Star Brewing Company, located next door.

Six Flags Fiesta Texas Six Flags Fiesta Texas

Located about 15 miles northwest of downtown San Antonio, Six Flags Fiesta Texas is a year-round destination for families and adrenaline-seeking travelers. The park's attractions run the gamut from coasters to slides to pools to go-karts. With shopping options and an assortment of restaurants to boot, it's not hard to spend an entire day (or more) at Six Flags Fiesta Texas.

Past visitors recommended purchasing the Flash Pass to skip the lines. Long lines are a common complaint at Six Flags, so even if you don't purchase the Flash Pass, be sure to reserve a full day for the park to account for time spent waiting in line.

McNay Art Museum McNay Art Museum

The McNay's collection includes more than 22,000 pieces that range from post-impressionist and modern works to Native American art. Visitors will recognize artists like Edward Hopper, Paul Cézanne, Diego Rivera, Auguste Rodin and Henri Matisse. The museum is housed in a Spanish Colonial Revival residence on 23 acres of pristine green space, originally owned by artist and collector Marion Koogler McNay. The main draw may be the art, but walking around the grounds is an experience in its own right.

Museumgoers say the exhibits are great and appreciate the wide variety of art on displays. They recommend making use of the museum's free hours, which are Thursday night from 4 to 9 p.m. and the first Sunday of every month from noon to 5 p.m.

San Antonio Botanical Garden San Antonio Botanical Garden

Prepare to be awed by the sheer diversity and size of the San Antonio Botanical Garden. This well-tended, 38-acre complex features wildflower-filled meadows, native gardens, a 34-bed culinary garden, an outdoor kitchen that hosts cooking classes taught be local chefs and a Family Adventure Garden with activities for kids. The striking glass structures of the conservatory house tropical palms, ancient ferns and an incredible array of plants from the rainforest to the deserts of Mexico and South Africa. Walking trails stretch out in every direction, encouraging visitors to get up-close to the plant life. 

According to park visitors, it generally takes at least two hours to explore everything.

Spanish Governor's Palace Spanish Governor's Palace

Although it was never actually a palace, this adobe building certainly looks the part with rooms heavily decorated in 18th-century furnishings and a spectacular cobblestone patio. This National Historic Landmark and former seat of the Spanish government (dating back to when San Antonio was the capital of Spain's Texas territory) caters to both history buffs and art lovers. Explore the property at your leisure with a pamphlet given to you at the door.

Recent visitors discourage visiting this site with kids, however, as there's little here to keep tots entertained. They also warn the palace doesn't take too long to go through, so history enthusiasts may be a bit disappointed.

Natural Bridge Caverns Natural Bridge Caverns

The Natural Bridge Caverns are home to the biggest commercial cave system in Texas. Above-ground adventures include zip lining, a rope course, a maze, gem mining, shopping and dining. Morgan's Wonderland Morgan's Wonderland

Morgan's Wonderland is the world's only amusement park designed for children of all abilities. This sprawling, inclusive park was designed by former homebuilder Gordon Hartman — in honor of his daughter, Morgan, who has cognitive and physical disabilities – along with a local team of medical experts, engineers and therapists. There are more than 25 accessible attractions, rides and play areas, including a deluxe carousel, a Ferris wheel, an amphitheater, a catch-and-release fishing lake and a sensory play center. There's also a water park: Morgan's Inspiration Island.

In addition to the accessible rides, families appreciate the friendly, welcoming staff and affordable food offerings. They also like that you can bring in outside food, beverages and coolers, should you want your own refreshments. 

Ruby City Ruby City free

Ruby City is a contemporary art center with a unique origin story. Shortly before artist and megacollector Linda Pace passed away in 2007, she had a vision for a home for her collection of more than 800 pieces of art – a vision that literally came to her in a dream. Pace drew the images from her dream and passed them on to renowned architect Sir David Adjaye, who designed the bright crimson structure. Today, this 14,000-square-foot space is a treasure trove of paintings, sculptures and installations from both local and international artists such as Joan Mitchell, Marina Abramovic and Donald Moffett.

Visitors love Ruby City for its incredible architecture, thought-provoking exhibits and beautiful grounds.

Japanese Tea Garden Japanese Tea Garden free

Featuring koi ponds, arched bridges, shaded paths and a 60-foot waterfall, the Japanese Tea Garden is an oasis away from the hustle and bustle of downtown San Antonio. Developed in 1917, the garden is located in a former rock quarry, which may surprise some given how lush the landscape is today. Native and adaptive Texas tree species abound, and the tiered gardens and floral display are in bloom throughout the year. The restaurant at the garden, Jingu House, offers tasty bites (spring rolls, sandwiches, salads and bowls) and a menu of beer, wine and sake cocktails, if you need to refuel during your visit.

Families with kids, friends, couples and solo visitors all find this tranquil green space enjoyable. Many people come here for a photo-op (it's widely regarded as one of the prettiest places in the city).

DoSeum DoSeum

Children of all ages are in for a treat at the DoSeum. With 68,000 square feet of interactive exhibit space, there's enough here to keep young brains and bodies engaged for hours. Kids can use their math and reasoning skills at the Spy Academy, work with tools and engage building skills at the Zachry Innovation Station, play with sound and light at the Sensations Studio and splash around outside at WaterWorks. This is just the tip of the iceberg at the DoSeum, whose exhibits are all designed with a sustainable, creative approach and a strong STEM focus. 

Parents recommend arriving early or visiting during the week to avoid long lines. Most say their kids had a great time, but a few note upkeep issues, such as broken and sticky exhibit pieces.

Pick up a cowboy hat at the gift shop to complete the experience. 

If you're at all squeamish about taxidermies, visitors recommended skipping this attraction. The food at the cafe hits the spot. 1.  Alamo

The Alamo is by far San Antonio’s most famous attraction and is the most visited attraction in the state of Texas. This 18th-century Spanish mission was the site of the 1836 Battle of the Alamo, where famous Texans like James Bowie and Davy Crockett died fighting the Mexican General Santa Anna during the Texan fight for independence. Remember the Alamo today by watching live history demonstrations with actors in period dress during mock battles and firing demonstrations. 

2.  The River Walk

Whether you’re looking to take a stroll with lovely views or need a great place to go for a jog, the River Walk will cover all your needs. 15 miles long and bordered by hiking and biking paths, it’s popular among cyclists and runners, though many tourists use it as a walking path between attractions like the San Antonio missions, San Antonio Museum of Art, and various parks. Five miles of the River Walk run through the scenic downtown, home to restaurants, clubs, and shops. Book a boat ride down the River Walk to see all this attractive attraction has to offer. 

3.  El Mercado

If you’re dying for a good margarita, hit up El Mercado, the largest Mexican market in the United States. 4.  San Antonio Zoo

The San Antonio Zoo can trace its history to 1914 when Colonel George W. Brackenridge deeded land full of monkeys, lions, bears, and buffalo over to the city. Today, families descend upon the San Antonio Zoo to see 750 species of animals on 56 acres. So, grab the kids and charge your phone—you’ll want to take photos of one of the largest bird collections in the world, hippos, and crocodiles underwater, lions frolicking in Big Cat Valley, and an up-close shot when you feed the giraffes.

5.  San Antonio Missions National Historic Park

Texas has flown many a flag, but the legacy of the Spanish is perhaps best visible at the San Antonio Missions National Historic Park. This national park is comprised of four missions— Mission Espada, Mission San Jose, Mission Concepcion, and Mission San Juan Capistrano—all built over 300 years ago, but which still function as churches with regular services. The historic structures and the grounds are fascinating to explore, but keep in mind that the missions are set far apart and must be reached via car or by a hiking and biking trail. 6.  Tower of the Americas

The Tower of the Americas is not for the faint of heart. At 750 feet tall, it offers stunning views of Alamo City from the observation deck and the revolving fine-dining restaurant, Chart House. 8.  Six Flags Fiesta Texas

Scream yourself hoarse at Six Flags Fiesta Texas. This amusement park has been servicing the San Antonio area with rollercoasters, thrilling rides, splash zones, fair food, and live shows since 1992. While it’s a great amusement park for all ages, adults won’t want to miss a chance to ride the world’s first single-rail coaster, one of the tallest pendulum rides in the world, and a soon-to-be-added exhilarating ride that provides the sensation of weightlessness. 

9.  Trader's Village San Antonio

Flea markets in Texas are like the state itself, bigger and better than anywhere else. Trader’s Village San Antonio is a massive 250-acre outdoor flea market with 1,000 vendor stalls selling clothing, Mexican candy, leather goods, furniture, tires, plants, and more. When the kids get restless, let them loose in Trader Village’s 11-ride amusement park. Then wrangle in the whole family so they can snack on gigantic turkey legs, funnel cakes, and tacos from the on-site food stands.

10.  Spanish Governor's Palace

The historic, adobe Spanish Governor’s Palace sends visitors back in time to when the Spanish ruled Texas. This 18th-century palace is a National Historic Landmark and was the home of Spanish captains of the Presidio San Antonio de Berar (a military garrison). Some things have changed over the years, but visitors are still provided a peek into Texas’ past on guided tours as they stroll among landscaped gardens and ten rooms filled with Spanish Colonial furniture. 

11.  Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch

Grab a hat and sunscreen and hit the plains of Texas for a safari experience. Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch is a 450-acre, family-friendly ranch that sits on the outskirts of San Antonio and is home to ostriches, giraffes, and zebras. Visitors can get up-close-and-personal with 500 animals (including 40 exotic species) on walkabouts and drive-thru tours. 12.  Morgan's Wonderland

There is a bevy of entertainment options, including a water park, playground, Sensory village, and music garden. Best of all, all guests with special needs are given free entrance to this accessible park. 

13.  Japanese Tea Garden

Set in Brackenridge Park in an old limestone quarry, the year-round garden welcomes all to get lost among the manicured gardens full of walkways and stone bridges accented by floral displays. You could spend a whole day marveling at the park’s 60-foot waterfall and ponds full of Koi before eating a meal at the Jingu House restaurant located within the garden. 

14.  Ripley's Believe It or Not!

Robert Ripley wandered the world collecting unusual, odd, and eccentric items, and they can all be admired at Ripley’s Believe It or Not! in San Antonio. With three floors and 500 exhibits, the odditorium houses Ripley’s unusual finds and astounds all who enter. Also on-site is Louis Tussaud’s Wax Works Museum, where you can take selfies with your favorite celebrities and royalty. San Antonio can be found at the southwestern corner of what is known as the Texas Triangle, and pure Texas it is! With a population of approximately 1,409,200 as of 2011, it remains one of the fastest growing cities in the United States.

San Antonio has many popular attractions, welcoming over 26 million tourists every year who come to enjoy its Spanish colonial Missions which include the Alamo, an 18th-century Spanish Mission now preserved as a museum that marks the 1836 battle for Texan independence from Mexico, as well as the annual San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, to name but a few.

1. River Walk

A really pleasant (and healthy!) way to get to know this lovely city is by taking a walk along the San Antonio River, now a network of walkways that wind below bridges with two parallel sidewalks filled with busy shops, bars and restaurants connecting to the city’s major tourist venues.

The San Antonio River Walk (known also as Paseo del Río) came about from a devastating flood that took 50 lives, with development of the river’s flood control put in place as the eventual outcome.

The area is now a great tourist attraction, in particular during the yearly Fiesta San Antonio; a springtime festival that features colorfully decorated floats slowly drifting along the river.

2. Mission San Jose

This beautiful, historic Mission was founded in 1720, and named at the time for Saint Joseph and the Marqués de San Miguel de Aguayo, the governor of the Province of Coahuila and Texas.

Sadly, the Mission experienced a long period of gradual decline after the 1833 Mexican secularization act.

Many of the exquisite original structures have since been reconstructed and restored over the years, which you can learn all about in a short documentary before starting your walk through its peaceful grounds.

There is free access to the Mission together with a lovely gift shop.

3. Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch

For a really fun day out why not take the family on safari! In Texas? Actually, yes!

Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch is a drive thru safari, home to 500 animals (no predators or elephants) of 40 different species, living within 400 acres of tree lined gently sloping hills.

As you drive through the private property you can see the animals roam freely within its 3 generously sized pastures.

Your kids will delight at the animals they see, from zebra and wildebeest to big birds like emu and ostrich and so many more, most of which will come right up to the car!

Best of all, you can drive through as many times as you want! You will get one free bag of food with your entrance fee.

4. The Alamo

The Alamo Roman Catholic Mission, now a museum, was founded in the 18th century and educates on the famous Battle of the Alamo in 1836.

A visit here would be a marvelous opportunity for the family to learn all about the Mission’s fascinating history through various eras, from the education of Native Americans to its role as a military fortress.

The tour guides are informative and passionate about the Mission’s history, so you are guaranteed to learn a lot of interesting facts.

5. San Antonio Botanical Garden

The 38 acre botanical gardens are a super venue for a family visit the whole year round.

With each season, the gardens bring a wonderful mixture of color from the plant world, from the Rose Garden to the exotic tropic selections, or the natural grasses of the desert-like country area.

And if you’re thinking of redesigning your own garden, you can find lots of information on backyard design; take a walk along the WaterSaver Garden to see some examples and get inspiration.

Along the way you will also be able to see different birds feeding at the bird blind. Finish your visit with a yummy sandwich from the garden’s café.

6. Natural Bridge Caverns

The Natural Bridge Caverns are the largest known natural caves in the whole of the United States and well worth a family visit!

The venue’s name was the result of the awesome looking 60 ft natural limestone slab bridge that spans the entrance of the cavern’s amphitheater.

As you walk along the family friendly paved and lighted walkways you will discover the astonishing formations found in the underground chambers.

In the little mining town replica the kids can enjoy panning for gold and other gems and also have fun in the maze.

7. Majestic Theatre

For all you theatre lovers, attending a show at the iconic open air Majestic Theatre will make your day (or evening!).

The theatre is San Antonio’s oldest, and is also the city’s largest. The 2,311 seat theatre was designed in 1929 by architect John Eberson, and was home to San Antonio’s Symphony from 1989 to 2014. In 1993 it was designated a National Historic Landmark.

The theatre’s other claim to fame was that it was also the first theatre in the state to be totally air-conditioned! Fun for a casual day show or a chance to dress up for the evening!

8. San Antonio Museum of Art

The San Antonio Museum of Art opened to the public in 1981 and is popular with both locals and visitors.

The spacious museum is home to an amazing collection of over 30,000 objects that represent 5,000 years of culture from all over the world, including principal works from Greek, Roman and Egyptian antiquities together with Latin American, Pre-Columbian, Asian and Contemporary art, all exhibited with very informative descriptions. There is also a super gift shop and excellent café to visit!

9. San Antonio Missions National Historical Park

There is more than one Mission to be seen in San Antonio and the best way to visit them is by taking a trip to the Missions National Historical Park.

The Missions were established in the early 1700s, and looked on as shelter by the South Texan population after having lived in constant fear of attack from Apache raids.

Entering a Mission meant that they had to renounce their former lives and accept their new religion. In fact, many parishioners today are direct descendants of the Mission Indians who had built the churches.

There are 4 superbly preserved Missions to visit, all of them free of charge and all offering a peaceful and contemplative environment.

10. Morgan’s Wonderland

Morgan’s Wonderland is a wonderland of amusement for everyone indeed, child and adult, regardless of whether or not they have special physical or cognitive needs.

Once a limestone quarry, this 25 acre park was renovated and rebuilt and now offers over 25 attractions.

The venue is the very first theme park of its kind, developed by Gordon Hartman and inspired by his daughter Morgan who has a severe cognitive delay.

The comfortable, safe park and its very kind staff has welcomed over half a million visitors from all over the world and is now in its fifth season.

11. Guenther House

For a special culinary treat with a difference, drop by Guenther House, the award winning restaurant of flour miller’s pioneer Carl Hilmar Guenther.

The restaurant is open daily for breakfast and lunch and, before or after your repast, you can tour the gracefully restored 1860 historic home.

This might be a sensible idea after all that yummy food which would probably include quiche, miniature blueberry muffins and other delicacies, cheerfully served by the restaurant’s friendly and efficient staff!

12. The Shops at La Cantera

This is a gorgeous up scale shopping venue combined with great ‘hill country’ charm and a great opportunity for the family who want to spend a little – or a lot! – of time shopping in a pretty location.

The 1,300,000 sq ft center offers shops and stores for every age and is easy to get around, with maps, places to relax and refresh from the sun in the shaded outdoor seating areas, (or heated areas in the winter months), as well as clean facilities and a play area for your kids too.

There is also the choice of standard mall store shopping as well.

13. The DoSeum – San Antonio’s Museum for Kids

This three storey museum is a must for families and their inquisitive kids! Promoting learning & discovery through creative programs and interactive exhibits, the DoSeum is a fantastic place for kids to create, build, make, discover and invent.

The museum is looked on as one of America’s best state of the art learning facilities and the kids will not want to miss a visit, while parents will be able to sit in comfort too.

14. San Antonio Fire Museum

A visit here should definitely be on the cards for fire buffs and families with young ones!

The museum, founded in 2013, tells the story of how the San Antonio Fire Department started life in 1854 with just a 20 man brigade of volunteers working with hand and horse-pulled carts, eventually transforming itself over time into the 1,660 manpowered departments it is today.

The museum is in the old Fire Station No. 1 garage and stuffed to the gills with old photographs, antique equipment and fire trucks from the early days.

Admission is free but donations are welcome, and any item you buy at the well stocked gift shop goes toward the museum’s funding.

15. San Antonio Market Square

For a taste of Mexico, drop into San Antonio’s Market Square where you and the family can stroll through the square’s three block outdoor plaza which is lined with colorful shops and lively restaurants.

In fact, Market Square is the biggest Mexican market in North America and where you can have great fun sourcing everything in Mexican artistry from specialty shops selling leather belts and hand embroidered dresses, to crafts, souvenirs and delicious snacks.

16. Six Flags Fiesta Texas

Get ready for family fun here at Six Flags Fiesta! This fantastic theme park, built on rock quarry and developed as a major entertainment module, is 200 acres of pure enjoyment.

You will be spoilt for choice deciding what and where to head first; from pulse quickening roller coasters like the 105 ft high Goliath to gentler rides for toddlers, and from cooling off at White Water Bay, to having fun on one of the many family rides like The Buckarooz.

This is a wonderful venue for families with toddlers! Kiddie Park was created in 1925 and renovated in 2009, making it the oldest children’s amusement park in the United States.

This old style, traditional park has so much to offer your little ones, from the park’s traditional Ferris wheel to the wonderful hand carved Herschell Spillman carousel together with many other classic children’s rides like the Helicopter and Flying Saucers (which parents are able to ride, too).

San Antonio’s premiere museum, the Witte Museum is the most-visited museum in San Antonio, reaching a diverse crowd with its transformative experiences.

Spanning five mission sites and a historic ranch, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is a historical must-see when visiting San Antonio.

The five frontier historic mission complexes were established through Catholic religious orders to spread Christianity to the local natives. These territories then transformed the local area’s way of life by introducing new farming methods, religion, and communities. 

By creating new communities, Native Americans were able to receive religious education and instruction and were able to live in the missions. From there on, the Spanish established pueblos (towns) and presidios (forts) for protection.

37. Chalk It Up

One of the greatest annual activities in San Antonio is “ Chalk It Up .”

During this event, hosted by Artpace, artists and the community come together to make sidewalk murals with chalk.

Takeoff! First-ever direct service from San Antonio to Europe takes flight

T he initial flight from San Antonio International Airport to Europe hit the skies Friday night, taking passengers 5,400 miles to Germany and marking the first-ever international service directly from the Alamo City. 

Condor Flight 2137 left at 8:35 p.m., with the capacity to carry 310 passengers aboard an Airbus A330-900neo. Remaining economy seats were going for $700 round trip to Frankfurt on Friday morning; flight time is about 10 and a half hours.

The Airbus' size allows 216 passengers to fly economy, 64 to fly premium economy and 30 to fly business class. Frankfurt is a major hub for connecting flights to other countries abroad, making international travel that much easier for San Antonians. 

The day has been highly anticipated since the flights were first announced back in September , where it was revealed the German airline Condor was providing the nonstop service. The airline has been servicing travelers since 1956. 

Airport officials say the service could also mean more tourism and money flowing into San Antonio's economy. 

"(It's a) historic day for San Antonio, our first-ever transatlantic flight," said Jacob Tyler, chief air service development officer for the airport. "Typically when an airline decides to fly to Europe for the first time from a city of our size, you usually start it off in the summertime when there is the most demand and see how the community reacts to it." 

The flights operating on a season basis, and are currently being offered on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays until Sept. 6. 

More good news could be coming later this year for San Antonio International, which hopes to be awarded one of five new round-trip daily flights to Reagan Washington National Airport – located just a few miles from Capitol Hill – following Congress' passage of the $105 billion FAA Reauthorization Bill. 

New alcohol ban in Majorca and Ibiza marks fresh clampdown on 'excessive tourism'

Authorities have also banned party boats from sailing within one nautical mile of certain destinations and those vessels are banned from picking up and disembarking passengers in these areas, according to reports.

The sale of alcohol will be totally banned between 9.30pm and 8am in areas of "excessive tourism" in Majorca and Ibiza, under a new decree passed by the government of Spain's Balearic Islands.

In a bid to crack down on booze-fuelled holidays in tourist areas, the law completely prohibits late-night sales of alcohol in Llucmajor, Palma and Calvia (Magaluf) in Majorca , and San Antonio in Ibiza .

Authorities have also banned party boats from sailing within one nautical mile of any of these destinations and the vessels are banned from picking up and disembarking passengers in these areas, reported the Majorca Daily Bulletin.

But some businesses have criticised the legislation, saying tourists will just go to neighbouring resorts which are not part of the restrictions.

The bans follow the toughening up of a law passed by the Balearic government four years ago to tackle the over-consumption of alcohol.

That 2020 legislation banned happy hours, pub crawls and two-for-one drink offers, prohibited the sale of alcohol in shops between 9.30pm and 8am and stopped party boats from advertising in designated areas.

The new decree comes after the government warned rowdy tourists they could face big fines under tougher sanctions for bad behaviour.

Up to €16m (£13.7m) will be spent on enforcing the ban on drinking alcohol in public, as well as on security, inspections and increasing the awareness of tourists in "excessive tourism" areas.

People could be fined between €750 and €1,500 (£645 and £1,290) if their consumption of booze on public roads "disrupts coexistence, involves crowds or deteriorates the tranquillity of the environment", reported the Canarian Weekly website.

If the offence is considered very serious, the fine could range from €1,500 to €3,000 (£1,290 to £2,580).

The Palma mayor Jaime Martínez said one of his main objectives is to "correct uncivil attitudes".

The decree has a fixed term until 31 December 2027 because after that the government hopes the law will no longer be necessary.

A number of Balearic islands, including Ibiza and Mallorca, are set to band alcohol sales after 9.30pm to tackle “excessive tourism”.

According to  DJ Mag , the new law took effect on May 11, where popular tourist destinations such as Ibiza’s San Antonio and Mallorca’s Magaluf will have new sanctions on alcohol purchase and consumption placed on them.

The ban on alcohol sales will reportedly take effect between 9:30pm and 8am in party hotspots, adding onto past legislation passed by the Balearic government four years ago. The ban, which was allegedly pushed by local authorities, will take place until at least December 2027.

If caught drinking outside of designated areas, people could face fines between €500-1,500 (£430-1290), the BBC adds. Drinkers will also apparently be reported to their respective embassies.

Party boats will also have strict rules enforced on their proximity to designated areas; they will be banned from sailing closer than one nautical mile to certain zones, as well as picking up or disembarking passengers within these areas. Alongside these laws, the Balearic government have apparently pledged an additional €16 million to improve tourist areas in the region.

According to Luis Pomar, press officer at the Balearic Islands Tourism Council, the new laws have been enforced to curb “anti-social behaviour.”

Speaking to the  BBC , he also said he hoped the legislation would no longer be needed “in three to four years, if we instil in people how to behave”.

The Baleraic government have been introducing new laws in recent months surrounding their tourist destinations. In March, it was announced that travelling to the island without booked accomodation could cost Brits up to £8,000 , whilst Ryanair has announced a ban on duty-free alcohol on flights from London to Ibiza.

Ryanair said that “any alcohol purchased in airport shops or elsewhere must be packed carefully in a suitable item of cabin baggage, which will be tagged at the gate and then placed in the aircraft hold free of charge.”

“If the alcohol is unsuitable for placing in the hold (eg a plastic bag) then customers will be required to dispose of the alcohol in the bins provided,” they added. “Those who attempt to conceal alcohol will risk removal from their flight with no compensation or refund.”

Meanwhile, Uber announced it would begin operating in the island back in November last year .

In other news, a 21-year-old who “can’t afford a flight” to Ibiza will walk there from Manchester for charity .
