Frequently asked questions, what is the baggage policy.

No bags of any size are allowed anywhere at Pearl Harbor. This includes backpacks, camera bags, purses, luggage, and fanny packs must all be left at the baggage storage at the entrance to the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center. For diaper needs, we suggest parents and caregivers include these baby items in a clear sealable under the stroller seat for clear visibility and access.

Where can I pick up my audio tour headset?

You can pick up your headset for the audio tour near the Information Desk at the Visitors Center.

Can I bring a stroller, wheelchair, or mobility device?

Pearl Harbor is an accessible site, there are no hills, and the paths are mostly flat. Wheelchairs are not available for rent at the park. There are benches placed around the visitor center and there are wheelchair locks on the US Navy navy boats to and from the memorial that sport visitors back and forth to the Memorial.

Motorized mobility devices are welcome at the Visitor Center and on US Navy Vessels, and the USS Arizona Memorial.

Strollers are welcome on site but can only go so far as the USS Arizona Memorial pre-boarding area at the Park Theater. Strollers are not permitted on US Navy vessels or the USS Arizona Memorial, please bring a baby carrier as an alternate option in these areas.

Can I bring food and beverages?

Due to the Pearl Harbor National Memorial's no-bag policy, only bring snacks and water bottles that you can carry. There is a small snack shop on site that carries various sundry snacks and cold beverages as well as restaurants throughout the area. There are water fountains located throughout the park to use or refill water bottles.

What is appropriate dress and attire?

We recommend that all visitors consider this site is for remembrance and reflection of the loss of life in service to the United States, therefore please plan for appropriate dress. Battle dress uniform is not allowed on the memorial, though it is allowed throughout the visitor center and at sites on Ford Island. Military visitors are welcome to wear civilian attire when visiting.

Come prepared with comfortable shoes as you will be on your feet throughout your visit, including a hat, sunglasses, and reef-safe sunscreen are recommended.

What can I bring?

Wear comfortable shoes, a hat, and sunblock.

Don’t forget your photo ID and leave all bags behind, as you are not allowed to bring them into Pearl Harbor.

When should the day start?

Remember to start your tour early in the day to ensure you get tickets for the USS Arizona Memorial program and you have tip to visit all the sites included in your ticket. Start no later than 10am. Last visit to the Aviation Museum is 4:30pm.

When should I buy a USS Arizona Ticket?

8 weeks before tour date – At 7:00 am Hawaii Standard Time 300 tickets are made available for reservations. Tickets can sell out quickly depending on the season so it’s best to plan early if you want to get these. There is a $1.00 service fee for each reserved ticket.

The day before your tour date – At 3:00 pm Hawaii Standard Time 300 tickets are made available for reservations. These frequently go even faster depending on the season, so be prepared to make your reservations as soon as possible after 3:00 pm. There is a $1.00 service fee for each reserved ticket.

Where can we get food?

The Aviation Museum is also a great place for a lunch break, the air conditioned cafe offers an American style menu with quick meals and drinks.

Please click here to access Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about the Pearl Harbor (USS Arizona) booking process and Pearl Harbor National Memorial.

A visit to the USS Arizona Memorial is a solemn and sobering experience, even for those who were not alive when the attack occurred.

The Pearl Harbor Visitor Center, part of the Pearl Harbor National Memorial, is the primary portal for visitors coming to Pearl Harbor. It is open daily from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. Interpretive programs available include a round trip boat trip to the USS Arizona Memorial and time spent on the memorial for reflection and contemplation. USS Arizona Memorial programs run frequently throughout each day. The visitor center is closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day.

Parking at the visitor center is $7/day. This payment is collected through a virtual pay system on visitors’ mobile devices or via an onsite kiosk (this fee cannot be paid through recreation.gov).

The visitor center is the gateway for visitors to expand their knowledge of World War II and the Pacific Theater by visiting neighboring independent historic sites: Pacific Fleet Submarine Museum , Battleship Missouri Memorial , and Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum . Ticketing and tour information for these sites can be found at the Passport to Pearl Harbor Historic Sites page .

Need to Know

High theft area, do not leave valuables in vehicles.

Pearl Harbor National Memorial is a fee-free site, and the National Park Service does not charge for programs or for entrance fees.

With a limited number of tickets available online each day, reservations can fill quickly. Reservations may be made up to 8 weeks (56 days) in advance. All tickets reserved for the USS Arizona Memorial program are final. There are no refunds for the $1.00 reservation fee under any circumstances.

Ticket reservations may not be made by commercial operators or agencies except as provided under the terms of a Commercial Use Authorization with the park.

Other tickets, for the separately-managed Pearl Harbor Historic Sites, can be reserved at the Passport to Pearl Harbor Historic Sites page .

Please arrive at Pearl Harbor Visitor Center at least thirty (30) minutes prior to your assigned tour time and be at the Validation Check in located at the Pearl Harbor Memorial Theater ten (10) minutes prior to your tour time to ensure you are checked-in. The Navy-operated boat will begin boarding at your tour time. If you are late you may miss your tour.

Bags are prohibited at the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center. Clear, see-through stadium bags and bags containing medical devices or medication may be allowed into the site at the discretion of the National Park Service. Cameras, cell phones, and wallets are allowed. Bags may be secured in a storage facility near the visitor center entrance for a fee. More information is available on the park’s website, here .

Boat trips to the USS Arizona Memorial may be cancelled or modified due to boat mechanical issues, high winds, and other safety concerns.

The visitor center has reserved accessible parking near the entrance. The restrooms, theaters, exhibit galleries, bookstore, information desks, drinking fountains, Navy shuttle boats and the USS Arizona Memorial are all fully accessible to visitors in wheelchairs or scooters. Walking the distance between facilities may be challenging for visitors with mobility issues. Several benches are located throughout the site for opportunities to rest. Please note: The visitor center does not offer wheelchairs to the public. Please use assistive devices with care; walkers with wheels have caused accidents when used as wheelchairs. Stay hydrated in the tropical climate.

For hearing impaired visitors, all films are fully captioned in English. There is an induction loop for use with hearing aids in the theater. Visually impaired visitors will find signage in braille in addition to tactile models of various interpretive resources throughout the site. Braille booklets regarding Pearl Harbor are available at the information desk.

Please plan for traffic and allow time to find parking in one of the paid-parking lots located within walking distance of the visitor center. Taxi cabs and ride share companies must follow parking lot signage, as well as all pick up and drop off protocols.

passport to pearl harbour tour

History buffs and those with ample time should plan to fully experience Pearl Harbor and not just limit themselves to half a day. While the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center and USS Arizona Memorial are well-known, there's much more to explore in the area. Make sure to see all the Pearl Harbor Historic Sites and save time with the "Passport to Pearl Harbor," a single ticket that provides access to everything at Pearl Harbor.

The "Passport to Pearl Harbor" package includes admissions and audio tours, with audio options in 9 different languages. Transportation to Pearl Harbor is not included, but it's simple to get there, either by driving or taking one of the many direct buses from Waikiki.

USS Battleship Missouri

Walking on the deck of the USS Battleship Missouri is a truly awe-inspiring experience. This historic ship played a pivotal role in the final days of World War II and stands as a testament to the bravery and sacrifice of the American military. Visitors can explore the ship's massive deck, peer into its guns, and learn about the battles it fought and the role it played in history. The USS Missouri is also the site of the signing of the official Japanese surrender, making it an important part of the story of the war. As you walk through the ship, you'll be transported back in time and gain a deeper appreciation for the sacrifices made by the brave men and women who served on board.

Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum

The Pacific Aviation Museum, now known as the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum, is a world-class museum dedicated to the history of aviation in the Pacific region. The museum was established in 1999 with the goal of preserving and educating visitors about the history of aviation in the Pacific theater during World War II. In 2006, the museum was renamed the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum to better reflect its focus on the role of aviation in the attack on Pearl Harbor and its impact on the world. The museum features a vast collection of aircraft, artifacts, and memorabilia, as well as interactive exhibits and multimedia displays that bring the history of aviation to life.

USS Bowfin Submarine

The USS Bowfin Submarine is a true marvel of engineering and a testament to the ingenuity of the American military. This historic vessel played a critical role in the Pacific theater during World War II and is now open for visitors to tour. Despite its relatively small size, the USS Bowfin is packed with impressive technology and impressive displays that showcase its history and mission. Visitors can explore the cramped quarters of the submarine, including the control room, engine room, and crew berths, and get a sense of what life was like for the submariners who served aboard. The USS Bowfin's compact design is a testament to the ingenuity of its designers and the skill of its crew.

The only cost to access this site is $1.00 per person when selecting the day and time online to visit. Can do this visit without a tour. Read more Written May 8, 2024
  • 230beckyk 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Amazing Views I did this hike by myself and had a great time. It was easy to reserve the narration tour, easy to pick up the equipment. (they do ask for you to leave a driver's license or credit card with them as collateral for the equipment... they give it back to you upon return). It's a phone on a lanyard you can put around your neck so your hands are free to take pictures. All of the information was really great to learn about. I saw several of the birds listed on the "watch for" list along with a mongoose that ran right across the sidewalk near the visitors center. It wasn't as hard of a climb as I thought it would be (I'm not in the greatest of physical fitness!) and there are several places along the way to sit and rest or just take in the beauty. My suggestion is to get there early 6-7 am so that you can see the sunrise and beat the heat! Read more Written May 5, 2024
  • ManDir 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Poignant day out everyone should do Part of full day including visitor centre, submarine and US Missouri this was a thoughtful trip around the past nowhere commercialised as I thought it would be. Our tour was run by ex military who gave excellent facts and experiences for the whole day out. For a man of a certain age for this was not history when at school but a recent memory this was a fantastic insight. Read more Written May 3, 2024

  • Floridasailor_11 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles A must do for every American. The entire experience was emotional & inspiring. The museum was historical for background and takes you back to a different time when the Nation pulled together. The Navy boat that took you out to the Arizona memorial was, as could be expected, professional. The back wall with all the names of those who lost their lives was sobering . There were quite a number of Japanese on the tour…one can only imagine what were their thoughts. Read more Written April 21, 2024
  • Jon B 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Don’t do it! Unless you want to be amazed! What a beautiful hike. We visited at 9:00 on a Wednesday in April. The path was busy but not crowded. We did not walk fast so we allowed faster walkers to pass us. We took 3 short breaks on the way up and still made it to the top in an hour. The hike has a couple of “zones”. The first is a paved path. This is the easiest to walk and is mid-level steep. The second zone is a little steeper and is natural rock. Hard rock not gravel. It is uneven and demands some attention so as to not turn an ankle. The third zone is the tunnel. The path through the tunnel is fairly easy to walk although somewhat narrow when meeting a fellow hiker. The final zone is the steps. The view from the top makes the hike worth it all! The stroll down was much easier than the climb up! Take water and prepare to be amazed! Read more Written April 17, 2024

I returned to again pay my respects to those lost on December 7, 1941, especially the members of the Arizona, but everyone in general. The Memorial is a very fitting memorial for those lost on that day. It’s a beautiful memorial, but very solemn in nature. This is something I think everyone should experience! • Tofurry 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Must visit when on Oahu We did not want to join a tour to visit the Arizona Memorial so about a month before our trip, I bought tickets on recreation.gov for the 2:15pm boat ($1 each person). However, I read that in cases of high winds, the visits are canceled because the boats do not run. And that usually happens in the afternoon if it occurs. So, the day before our planned visit, we bought tickets again at 3pm (Hawaiian time) for an 8:45am slot. The 75 slots for each time went quickly. When we arrived for our time slot, they had room for people on standby. Maybe March is a slower tourist season. Our boat was not full. Being on the Arizona Memorial is an experience I would definitely recommend. Seeing the sunken ship with oil still floating on the surface is something you will never forget. You only get about 10-15 minutes at the memorial, just enough time for the next boat to arrive. When it arrives, you have to leave while everyone on that boat gets to visit the memorial. • 344LisaJ 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles USS Arizona Memorial We were there with a tour group and we only had a hour and a half in the park and thats not a lot of time to see everything. We saw the Arizona and the museum that goes with it but did not see the movie but I heard it was good. The only thing I did not like was you have to use an app to scedule a time for the Arizona. There were a lot of people very frustrated with it and when you get your time and you walk up to the entrance they put you in a line to wait. But it does go fast and they move people to the site very quickly. Read more Written March 18, 2024
  • Hrothmir 0 contributions 3.0 of 5 bubbles Sacrosanct Site - but somewhat disappointing logistics/experience at the site Pearl Harbor was one of the sites I most wanted on my first trip to Hawaii. WWII history is my passion and I had recently read "At Dawn We Slept," the exhaustive account of the attack. The Arizona Memorial seemed THE "must do" site at Pearl Harbor. I was much less impressed and moved by my memorial experience than I had anticipated and am noting that here so others have expectations set correctly and are prepared. One can and should buy tickets well in advance. At the time of writing one does so at recreation.gov. The fee is nominal. If one is planning a trip after advance tickets have sold out (as I was), one can try to book tickets when additional tickets are made available at 3pm (local time) the day before. Those tickets sell quickly. We were ready to order tickets at 3pm, we wanted AM tickets, but we only managed to get PM tickets. When we got to Pearl Harbor a little after the park opened, I asked a ranger for help planning our day. I'm glad I did that. She noted that it was a bit windy that day, and the park often cancels the boat trips to the ArizonaMemorial in the afternoon on windy days. Sure enough, they did cancel all afternoon trips to the memorial that day. She advised us to go "stand by" for the tour to the memorial first thing that morning to avoid missing out. We went standby and did get a slot on one of the first boats. Later that day, I met a group of Pearl Harbor enthusiasts who had planned to spend the entire day at Pearl Harbor, from opening to closing. They also had PM tickets and had not gotten the helpful advice I got. They were very disappointed not to have been able to see the memorial when afternoon boats were all canceled. I felt badly for them. The whole ticket booking/standby experience can be a bit unclear and stressful - and I feel that part of the experience can take away from what should be a solemn/moving experience. One only gets about 10 minutes on the memorial. The boat pulls up to it. You and the others on your boat are herded onto and along one side of the memorial. Another boatload of people stands along the other side of the memorial waiting to board the boat back. On the memorial one hurries along one side, seeing the parts of the USS Arizona that are above water, and into a room at the far end of the memorial where one hears a short presentation about the memorial. Then one is herded back along the other side for the boat trip back. The very large number of people crowded onto the memorial, the short time allocated, the need to keep moving...all that took also took away from the solemnity. When one Google searches the memorial, one sees dramatic photos from overhead that show the entire top of the ship visible just below the water. However, when we were on the memorial, the water was not transparent and one could only see the few parts that were above the surface of the water. Perhaps there is better clarity on days with less wind; but I had expected more of the ship would be visible. It feels unpatriotic to write an "average" review of a site that is sacrosanct. I don't intend this review to diminish the tragedy of lives sacrificed and the high importance of memorializing the event. My own expectations for how I would experience the memorial proved too high, and I hope this review helps you set yours more accurately. I found listening to some of the quotes in the audio tour and reading about some of the personal stories much more moving than the memorial visit itself (with stressful/confusing ticket purchasing and a rushed, crowded, "herded" trip on the memorial). WGS 84 coordinate reference system is the latest revision of the World Geodetic System, which is used in mapping and navigation, including GPS satellite navigation system (the Global Positioning System).

Geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude) define a position on the Earth’s surface. Coordinates are angular units. The canonical form of latitude and longitude representation uses degrees (°), minutes (′), and seconds (″). GPS systems widely use coordinates in degrees and decimal minutes, or in decimal degrees.

Latitude varies from −90° to 90°. The latitude of the Equator is 0°; the latitude of the South Pole is −90°; the latitude of the North Pole is 90°. Positive latitude values correspond to the geographic locations north of the Equator (abbrev. N). Negative latitude values correspond to the geographic locations south of the Equator (abbrev. S).

Longitude is counted from the prime meridian ( IERS Reference Meridian for WGS 84) and varies from −180° to 180°. Positive longitude values correspond to the geographic locations east of the prime meridian (abbrev. E). Negative longitude values correspond to the geographic locations west of the prime meridian (abbrev. W).

UTM or Universal Transverse Mercator coordinate system divides the Earth’s surface into 60 longitudinal zones. The coordinates of a location within each zone are defined as a planar coordinate pair related to the intersection of the equator and the zone’s central meridian, and measured in meters.

Elevation above sea level is a measure of a geographic location’s height. We are using the global digital elevation model GTOPO30 .

Savvino-storozhevsky monastery and museum.

Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery and Museum

Zvenigorod's most famous sight is the Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery, which was founded in 1398 by the monk Savva from the Troitse-Sergieva Lavra, at the invitation and with the support of Prince Yury Dmitrievich of Zvenigorod. Savva was later canonised as St Sabbas (Savva) of Storozhev. The monastery late flourished under the reign of Tsar Alexis, who chose the monastery as his family church and often went on pilgrimage there and made lots of donations to it. Most of the monastery’s buildings date from this time. The monastery is heavily fortified with thick walls and six towers, the most impressive of which is the Krasny Tower which also serves as the eastern entrance. The monastery was closed in 1918 and only reopened in 1995. In 1998 Patriarch Alexius II took part in a service to return the relics of St Sabbas to the monastery. Today the monastery has the status of a stauropegic monastery, which is second in status to a lavra. In addition to being a working monastery, it also holds the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum.

passport to pearl harbour tour

Located near the main entrance is the monastery's belfry which is perhaps the calling card of the monastery due to its uniqueness. It was built in the 1650s and the St Sergius of Radonezh’s Church was opened on the middle tier in the mid-17th century, although it was originally dedicated to the Trinity. The belfry's 35-tonne Great Bladgovestny Bell fell in 1941 and was only restored and returned in 2003. Attached to the belfry is a large refectory and the Transfiguration Church, both of which were built on the orders of Tsar Alexis in the 1650s.

To the left of the belfry is another, smaller, refectory which is attached to the Trinity Gate-Church, which was also constructed in the 1650s on the orders of Tsar Alexis who made it his own family church. The church is elaborately decorated with colourful trims and underneath the archway is a beautiful 19th century fresco.

Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is the oldest building in the monastery and among the oldest buildings in the Moscow Region. It was built between 1404 and 1405 during the lifetime of St Sabbas and using the funds of Prince Yury of Zvenigorod. The white-stone cathedral is a standard four-pillar design with a single golden dome. After the death of St Sabbas he was interred in the cathedral and a new altar dedicated to him was added.

Under the reign of Tsar Alexis the cathedral was decorated with frescoes by Stepan Ryazanets, some of which remain today. Tsar Alexis also presented the cathedral with a five-tier iconostasis, the top row of icons have been preserved.

Tsaritsa's Chambers

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is located between the Tsaritsa's Chambers of the left and the Palace of Tsar Alexis on the right. The Tsaritsa's Chambers were built in the mid-17th century for the wife of Tsar Alexey - Tsaritsa Maria Ilinichna Miloskavskaya. The design of the building is influenced by the ancient Russian architectural style. Is prettier than the Tsar's chambers opposite, being red in colour with elaborately decorated window frames and entrance.

At present the Tsaritsa's Chambers houses the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum. Among its displays is an accurate recreation of the interior of a noble lady's chambers including furniture, decorations and a decorated tiled oven, and an exhibition on the history of Zvenigorod and the monastery.

Palace of Tsar Alexis

The Palace of Tsar Alexis was built in the 1650s and is now one of the best surviving examples of non-religious architecture of that era. It was built especially for Tsar Alexis who often visited the monastery on religious pilgrimages. Its most striking feature is its pretty row of nine chimney spouts which resemble towers.
