Just went to the MDF 24' , their performance was worth going and the time amount they got to play was good. This was a very good, festival and I feel like they got the crowd very energetic and most people went to watch them. Seeing the darkest band in history was hard to believe but I would totally go see them again, HellHammer was my favorite on the drums. Very Amazing Performance.

Sounded amazing! I drank a shit load of beer. What a treat to hear De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas live. The crowd was scary as shit and my ears are still ringing.

Once we got in, the first opening band Black Anvil only took a few minutes to take the stage, once they started i was immediately in the mood for the show, they were a great opener and got the crowd in a good mood. About 10-15 minutes after they finished up Inquisition came out to an already packed crowd in the Ballroom. Inquisition completely blew me away, so much so that I bought their new album on vinyl, and a T-Shirt. About 20 minutes of setting up the stage later the theatrics started for Mayhem, and when Funeral Fog kicked in the place went crazy, with a huge pit taking up around half the floor. Mayhem was incredible and it was truly a once in a lifetime kind of show.

Mayhem Announce New Zealand Tour For 2023

Mayhem Announce New Zealand Tour For 2023

A name synonymous with diabolical sonic extremity, near-mythical Norwegian black metal group  Mayhem are journeying back to Aotearoa for a triple headline date tour, hitting Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch in January 2023. Infamous subjects of director Jonas Åkerlund's 2018 film Lords of Chaos (adapted from the controversial 1998 book of the same name), Mayhem's lineup for the tour includes founding bassist Necrobutcher , drummer Hellhammer and vocalist Attila Csihar . Mayhem's uncompromising malevolent vision has captivated the imaginations of multiple generations of artists since they formed in 1984, resonating far beyond the metal underground to become one of the most iconic groups in any genre of the late 20th century — via such pioneering releases as 1987's Deathcrush EP and 1994's debut album De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas . Make your pilgrimage with the metal hordes to the following dates...

Mayhem ‘Thalassic Ritual’ New Zealand Tour 2023

Thursday 26th January - Galatos, Auckland* Friday 27th January - 12 Bar, Christchurch Saturday 28th January - San Fran, Wellington

Tickets on sale HERE via UTR *Auckland tickets available HERE

Listen to Mayhem's classic 'Freezing Moon' from their 1994 debut studio album De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas ...

Press release:

Far beyond legendary and a living monument to fearless creativity, MAYHEM have cast an icy shadow across the world of heavy music for nearly four decades.

Subversive students of the metal underground from the start, MAYHEM single handedly pioneered a new strain of black metal in their native Norway, taking the nascent genre by the scruff of the neck and hurling it into the pitch-black abyss.

Featuring iconic members Atilla Csihar, Necrobutcher and Hellhammer, and with the reputation of being one of the most controversial live acts to ever disgrace this planet, MAYHEM propel their latest rituals to Aotearoa this forthcoming January.

MAYHEM ANNOUNCE EUROPEAN TOUR

mayhem european tour 2023

With a new album featuring their first recorded material in seven years due out later this year, there’s no doubt the tour is in support of the as-yet-untitled full-length. For many it will be the first chance to hear some of the new material, their first since 1995 without guitarist and chief songwriter on last album Ordo Ad Chao, Blasphemer (who left in 2008).

The tour takes in ten countries over 15 dates, from Germany right through to Denmark, with a spot at London’s Electric Ballroom on May 21. Anyone unable to make the dates need not despair though, as the band have said they’ll be doing a second European leg at a later point (hopefully with more UK dates).

In the meantime Mayhem’s new single Psywar can be pre-ordered here or listened to on the video below.

Tickets for all the dates are available here (£20 for the London show).

The full list of dates is as follows:

14 May – Markthalle, Hamburg, DE 16 May – Matrix, Bochum, DE 17 May – Essigfabrik, Cologne, DE 18 May – Effenaar, Eindhoven, NL 20 May – AB, Brussels, BE 21 May – Electric Ballroom, London, GB 22 May – Le Divan du Monde, Paris, FR 23 May – Gaswerk, Winterthur, CH 24 May – Factory, Milan, IT 26 May – Randal, Bratislava, SK 27 May – Backstage Club, Munich, DE 28 May – C-Club, Berlin, DE 29 May – Proxima, Warsaw, PL 30 May – Metalfest Open Air Festival, Plzeň, CZ 31 May – Pumpehuset, Copenhagen, DK

MAYHEM Festival To Return As Single-Destination Event In October; Full Tour To Take Place In 2025

Mayhem festival will return as a single-destination event in Southern California on October 12, 2024. 23 bands will perform at the festival, with complete details to be announced on Tuesday, June 4. A full Mayhem tour will follow in the summer of 2025.

Mayhem originally teased a 2020 comeback in December 2019 following a five-year absence, but those plans were subsequently put on hold due to the global pandemic.

Mayhem was founded in 2008 by Vans Warped Tour 's Kevin Lyman and his partner John Reese . Over the years, such groups as SLIPKNOT , SLAYER , MOTIONLESS IN WHITE , ASKING ALEXANDRIA and UNDEROATH have taken part in the event.

Following the SLAYER -headlined 2015 edition of Mayhem , Reese declared that the festival was coming to a close, in light of poor attendance and less-than-kind words from SLAYER guitarist Kerry King .

" Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival 2015 comes to an end," Reese wrote in a social media post back in August 2015. "All I know is we have all tried our damned hardest to make Mayhem a home for artists, a platform for bands to increase their fan base and a place where people feel welcomed."

A few weeks earlier, Lyman criticized the metal scene for the lower-than-usual attendance at the 2015 edition of the traveling event. The tour was smaller that year, with fewer bands overall and fewer "headline-worthy" acts at the top.

In addition to SLAYER , the lineup featured KING DIAMOND as headliners, with HELLYEAH , THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA and WHITECHAPEL among the support acts.

"The bands at the top all demand a certain level of fee to be on a tour," Lyman told the Detroit Free Press back in July 2015. "Unlike punk rock, metal never knows how to take a step back to move the whole scene forward…What happened was metal chased girls away because what happened was metal aged. Metal got gray, bald and fat."

King later told the Houston Press that the problem with that summer's event lay not so much with the metal bands themselves but with the way the festival was booked.

"I didn't take what [ Lyman ] said personally," Kerry said. "He just definitely had a mike put in front of him and said some shit that's detrimental to this tour and any tours he has in the future — not just Mayhem , but whatever else he promotes. Because, to me, he committed business suicide.

"At the end of the day, what I think happened to Mayhem was that they waited too late in the game to get the talent they needed to pull it off correctly," Kerry continued. "Because what happens is, people get booked up so early these days that it seems like all the bands that could have made this more of a success are playing in Europe now instead of being on a U.S. festival. It just made the talent pool less than it could be."

Cannibal Corpse Announce New Album and Tour with Mayhem, Unleash “Blood Blind”: Stream

Death metal luminaries Cannibal Corpse have announced their 16th studio album, Chaos Horrific (out September 22nd), along with a Fall 2023 co-headlining North American tour with Mayhem . The lead single from the LP, “Blood Blind,” can be heard now.

The tour will coincide with the album’s release, kicking off that same day on September 22nd in Nashville and running through an October 21st date in Louisville. The trek boasts arguably the strongest extreme-metal tour package of 2023, with Gorguts and Blood Incantation providing support.

A Live Nation ticket pre-sale for select dates began today (June 22nd) at 10 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster using the code DISCO . General ticket sales begin Friday (June 23rd) at 10 a.m. local time. Fans can also look for deals or pick up tickets to sold-out shows via StubHub , where your purchase is 100% guaranteed through StubHub’s Fan Protect program.

Deep into an illustrious career, Cannibal Corpse continue to churn out goopy, curdled death metal of the old-school variety. “Blood Blind” exemplifies the band’s mastery of the style, with its barrage of down-tuned riffs, pummeling drums, and the low frequency gutturals of frontman George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher.

“I believe that our songwriting has progressed in a manner where every song paves its own path, whether it’s a straightforward or technical song,” stated guitarist Rob Barrett in the album’s press announcement. “Sometimes it’s a mix of both, so there’s no preconceived idea that we want to be more technical. The music just sort of takes its own course.”

Chaos Horrific was once again produced by guitarist Erik Rutan — the sixth time he’s been behind the board for a Cannibal Corpse album.

“I never go into a record thinking about anything, I just let the writing flow freely with no limitations,” Rutan said the creative process in the studio. “But this time, I knew I wanted to push the envelope a bit in a different direction than Violence Unimagined ; expand the dynamics, explore new territory without departing from what Cannibal Corpse is and always shall be.”

Heart Cancels European Tour as Ann Wilson Must Have 'Time-Sensitive but Routine Medical Procedure'

"I'm okay! Please don't worry. I do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause," wrote Ann on social media following the announcement

Heart's Ann Wilson won't be able to take the stage for some time.

The sister duo, also featuring Nancy Wilson, announced their 2024 European summer tour is canceled, as Ann must " undergo a time-sensitive but routine medical procedure ." However, she doesn't want fans to "worry" about her.

"We regret to inform you that all upcoming Heart performances in Europe are canceled," the band wrote on social media of the tour, which was set to span various countries from June 20 through July 12 with special guest Squeeze.

"In late May, Ann Wilson will undergo a time-sensitive but routine medical procedure for which the minimum recovery time is six weeks," added Heart.

The "Barracuda" group's statement continued, "Heart deeply regrets this unfortunate circumstance and hopes to return to Europe soon. Refunds will be available at point of purchase as applicable."

Ann, 73, then posted to her personal Instagram account and informed fans, "I'm okay! Please don't worry."

"I do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause," she continued. "It’s certainly an inconvenience for me. Love & respect always, Ann."

Heart recently wrapped a string of North American concerts that ran from April 20 through May 24. The band is scheduled to hit the road again with shows in the U.S. and Canada from July 30 through Dec. 15.

Last year, Ann spoke to PEOPLE about feeling as though her touring "stamina" was better than ever during an interview at the 6th annual  Women Who Rock  Benefit Concert presented by Gibson Gives. She also credited her youthful energy to having a more balanced lifestyle when it comes to alcohol.

"I'm not 100% sober. Usually, I have a glass of white wine after the show, but that's all it's down to now," she said at the time. "I got a really good handle on it. It's actually really good and it does help me with stamina and I do a really good warmup."

Taylor Swift kicked off the European leg of the Eras Tour in Paris.

In a nearly two-decade career, Taylor Swift had never performed in Portugal…until this weekend.

The superstar singer brought The Eras Tour to Lisbon for back-to-back, sold-out stops at Estádio da Luz in Portugal’s capital city. It was a weekend Swift said she won’t ever forget — and she’s already committed to coming back.

Swift, long praised for an authentic connection to her die-hard fans and for expressing gratitude for those who fill her arenas, delivered a pair of shows for Lisbon that those in attendance won’t soon forget either. When the Lisbon dates went on sale last July, tickets reportedly sold out within 2.5 hours. That’s a shorter amount of time than the concert itself, which kicked off at 8:15 p.m. and continued for three hours and fifteen minutes, ending with fireworks over the outdoor arena as she capped off the Midnights era with “Karma.”

The Eras Tour has been revamped for the European leg in the wake of Swift’s latest release, The Tortured Poets Department . She debuted songs from the album on the first European dates that kicked off earlier this month in Paris before continuing on to Stockholm and then Lisbon. But she saved one of the tracks, “Fresh Out the Slammer,” for a live debut in Lisbon during the surprise songs portion of the show.

“One of my favorite things about the Eras Tour is that, for me, it feels like going back through all of my favorite memories of getting to play shows for the last nearly 20 years of my life because we’ve gone on tour for almost every album I’ve ever put out,” Swift told the audience. “My big regret was that we didn’t get to take all of those tours to all of the places where I wanted to take them. And we absolutely should have come to Portugal on every single tour. This is not a mistake I will ever be making again. We are always going to come to Lisbon.”

Part of the reason for her early committal can surely be chalked up to how the crowd responded to seeing Swift for the first time in Portugal. The screams were, at times, deafening, and she received cheers for speaking Portuguese at several points during the show. (“Muito obrigada,” she said upon taking the stage; at two other points she asked for help by summoning security for distressed fans.)

During the Folklore/Evermore era, while Swift was seated at the piano, the audience erupted with cheers and applause that carried on for more than three minutes . So much so that the lights in the venue came on and Swift seemed caught off guard by the impromptu showing of love. She planted her hands on her head and said, “Oh my god. I love you.”

It’s official, I left my 🤍 in Lisbon. My first time in Portugal and you all made me feel like I was right at home. I’ll seriously never forget the way you treated us, the overwhelming love and passion and hands in the air and dancing and how you screamed every lyric!! Muito… pic.twitter.com/4KFQzl7U0j — Taylor Swift (@taylorswift13) May 26, 2024

Back to Friday night: “This crowd has been one of the most memorable crowds I’ve ever played for. I think every time I’m not here from now on, I’m going to be wanting to come back here.”

2023 Challenge Tour graduates enjoying fast start to Race to Dubai

The Challenge Tour’s class of 2023 are enjoying a fast start to the 2024 DP World Tour season, with eight graduates currently inside the top 50 on the Race to Dubai Rankings through 18 weeks.

Matteo Manassero

Headlining that list are Sweden’s Jesper Svensson and Italian Matteo Manassero, who have both enjoyed statement wins on golf’s Global Tour.

Svensson started the season in fine form with a second-place finish at the Investec South African Open in December before a win at the Porsche Singapore Open – the 28-year-old’s first on the DP World Tour – helped him climb into the top ten. The Swede now lies in third position in the Race to Dubai Rankings heading into the European Swing, and is set to continue his meteoric rise by making a first major start this week at the PGA Championship.

Manassero’s return to the winner’s circle is arguably one of the stories of the year so far. The 31-year-old’s dominant three-stroke victory in the Jonsson Workwear Open in March marked the fifth time he has won on the DP World Tour, with his most recent victory coming over a decade after his last win at the BMW PGA Championship in May 2013. That result, coupled with two other top five finishes, sees the Italian lie 14th in the Rankings.

Ugo Coussaud finished fourth in the 2023 Road to Mallorca Rankings and has carried that form into his debut season on the DP World Tour. The Frenchman joins Svensson and Manassero in the top 20 after a second-place finish at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters and top 15 finishes at the Alfred Dunhill Championship and Bahrain Championship. He sits just ahead of compatriot Frederic Lacroix, who lies 23rd after three top tens in his first ten starts.

Also in the top 50 are a trio of 2023 graduates who have made a fast start to their rookie season in Englishman Sam Bairstow, Spaniard Manuel Elvira, and South African Casey Jarvis. They are joined by Switzerland’s Joel Girrbach, who catapulted into the top 50 after finishing third at the Volvo China Open earlier this month.

Fellow graduate Brandon Stone also enjoyed a successful time in China, with the South African’s seventh place finish lifting him to 64th in the rankings, while last year’s Road to Mallorca Number One Marco Penge sits eight spots behind after impressing during the Opening Swing.

Spaniard Ivan Cantero has bounced back after a challenging start to the year, putting together six top 50 finishes on the bounce – including a third-place finish at the ISPS Handa Championship and a tied 6th finish at the Jonsson Workwear Open – to sit just outside the top 50. Italians Andrea Pavan and Francesco Laporta round out the graduates in the top 100 in 87th and 90th place respectively.
