About Lalla Aicha:

The late Lalla Aicha was a member of the Moroccan royal family. She was the sister of King Hassan II and the aunt of the current King Mohammed VI.

Lalla Aicha played a significant role in the development of golf in Morocco and the promotion of the sport among Moroccan women. She is often considered the pioneer of women’s golf in the country.

Thanks to her efforts, Lalla Aicha contributed to the organization of numerous women’s golf tournaments in Morocco, including the Lalla Meryem Cup, an event on the Ladies European Tour named after her niece, Lalla Meryem. This tournament has attracted some of the world’s top women golfers and has helped increase the visibility and reputation of Moroccan golf internationally.

Lalla Aicha was a strong supporter of sports in general and golf in particular. She was an inspiration to many young Moroccan golfers, advocating for gender equality in the sport.

Her legacy lives on through the LET qualifying events that pay tribute to her dedication and commitment to the sport.

The New Course, a nine-hole par-36 course, opened in 2007.

Two weeks after Nataliya Guseva earned her LPGA card at Q-Series, the Russian-born player headed to Morocco on a quest for Ladies European Tour status. Guseva didn’t just earn a second tour card, she dominated the field, winning the 2024 Lalla Aicha Q-School by four shots.

Guseva, 20, closed with a 69 to finish at 23-under 340 over five rounds. A winner on the Epson Tour in 2023 at the Black Desert Resort Championship, Guseva became the first player from Russia to earn LPGA status on Dec. 5 when she tied for 23rd at LPGA Q-Series.

“It’s amazing,” said Guseva, who played collegiate golf at the Univeristy of Miami. “It’s crazy that I came here already with my LPGA tour card and then just coming here and winning LET Q-School, it’s something I have always dreamed of.”

The Russian flag does not appear by Guseva’s name on the LPGA and LET websites because of International Olympic Committee guidelines. At the 2024 Olympics in Paris, individuals who qualify from Russia will compete as neutral athletes. No flag, anthem or colors from Russia will be displayed at the Games.

Maria Verchenova, the first Russian to earn LET status, competed in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, carding a course-record 62 before ultimately finishing tied for 16th.

A total of 22 players earned Category 12 membership status on the LET for 2024, while 30 players clinched Category 16 membership.

South Africa’s Cara Gorlei finished second at 19 under while Thailand’s Aunchisa Utama placed solo third.

Amateur Annabell Fuller, a fifth-year senior at the University of Florida, took a share of fifth while Texas Techs’ Shannon Tan of Singapore tied for eighth.

Spain’s Teresa Toscano made a tremendous final-round statement with a closing 64 to finish tied for 10th.

LET Q-School: Mack and Försterling finish top

ladies european tour qualifying school 2023 results

A total of 24 players, from 17 countries, secured full 2023 Ladies European Tour category 12 membership after five rounds of Final Qualifying

German duo Polly Mack and Alexandra Försterling ended the Final Qualifier of LET Q-School as joint-winners with a total 15-under-par.

Försterling, who led after round four, has got to know La Manga Club pretty well after progressing through the European Pre-Qualifier last week.

The 23-year-old produced a round of level par on the South Course with three birdies and three bogeys to secure LET playing rights for 2023.

She explained: “I feel really good! I’m a little bummed about 18 as I missed a short putt to win outright but that’s how it is sometimes.

“All in all, if someone would have told me before that I would have finished here, I wouldn’t have believed them. It’s really nice.

“It means a lot to get my LET card. I’m extremely excited for next season and I can’t wait for all of the tournaments. I can’t wait to get started!”

A final round of 71 (-2) saw Mack draw alongside her compatriot, after she rolled in four birdies and two bogeys in Spain.

It has been a busy end to the year for the 23-year-old, who secured both her LPGA Tour and Ladies European Tour cards for 2023 in December.

“It feels great,” said Mack. “These last couple of week couldn’t have turned out any better and I’m honestly just really really happy with this outcome and going into the off-season with this feeling is really nice. I’m ready to get some rest!

“It means a lot to get the LET status. I am German and it’s nice to have both and have the options and more opportunities. I’m really looking forward to 2023, I think it’s going to be exciting.”

A perfect end to an amateur career

French amateur Nastasia Nadaud rounded off her excellent week with a 71 (-2) on the final day to finish in third place on 14-under-par and the teenager plans to turn professional and compete on the LET in 2023.

Nadaud said: “I don’t think I can put into words how I’m feeling! I can’t believe it’s over; I’m still thinking that there’s a sixth-round tomorrow. I feel really great, and it’s done, finally.

“This is the perfect end to my amateur career. If someone would have told me that I would be top three at Q-School, I would have already turned pro! It’s really nice. I’m super motivated and I can’t wait for the season to start.”

Slovenia’s Ana Belac ended the tournament in fourth place after firing the round of the day with a 67 (-6) which included an eagle on 18, to be on 13-under-par.

“It has been a great week,” said Belac. “Q-School can be really tough and mentally challenging; we try to have fun out here and enjoy the beautiful views and weather as much as I could.

“It was great. I started the week bogey-free and finished the week bogey-free, that’s always a huge positive. My game is coming together.

“[On the eagle] I had a comfortable 5-hybird into the green and my dad nearly talked me out of going for the green in two. I hit it in the bunker – not the best shot – and then I holed out from the bunker.

“It’s really crazy because that shot would’ve intimidated me a couple of months ago but I really spent a lot of time working on my game especially around the greens so that’s paid off.”

Louise Duncan makes a birdie on the last to secure LET card

Thailand’s Trichat Cheenglab was fifth on 11-under, while Switzerland’s Albane Valenzuela finished in a share of sixth place alongside Austria’s Emma Spitz with Australia’s Gabriela Ruffels in outright eighth place.

Rounding out the top 10 on six-under-par were Australia’s Kirsten Rudgeley and England’s Annabel Dimmock with Germany’s Sophie Hausmann and Sweden’s Emma Nilsson in T11.

Czechia’s Tereza Melecka, who also carded a 67 (-6) on the final day, ended T13 with Norway’s Maiken Bing Paulsen plus Swiss amateur Tiffany Arafi and Danish amateur Amalie Leth-Nissen.

Spain’s Paz Marfa Sans finished in a share of 17 th place on three-under alongside Sweden’s Linnea Johansson and Germany’s Aline Krauter who both also secured her 2023 LPGA Tour card, Norway’s Madelene Stavnar, Wales’ Lee-Anne Bramwell, Scotland’s Louise Duncan, Japan’s Yuri Onishi and Italy’s Alessandra Fanali.

Should they wish to accept and take up LET membership, a total of 24 players secured Category 12 membership for 2023 while 28 players clinched Category 16 membership.

Alexandra forsterling wins fourth let title.

MICHENDORF, Germany - Sun Devil Women's Golf alum Alexandra Forsterling won the 2024 Amundi German Masters last Sunday at Golf & Country Club Seddiner See.

Forsterling secures her fourth victory on the Ladies European Tour (LET) in the past year, this one coming in her home country of Germany. Since becoming a full-member of the tour last year, Forsterling has established herself as one of the premier title contenders. She put together yet another excellent performance to add to her trophy case, as she has now won the 2023 VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open, 2023 Mallorca Ladies Golf Open, the 2024 Aramco Team Series - Tampa Individual Title, and now the 2024 Amundi German Masters.

"I am honestly completely speechless," she told  LadiesEuropeanTour.com  after the victory. "After I saw the putt drop, I was like oh my god. I would never have expected it. It really feels great. It honestly feels like a dream, I just never expected it, and it feels so amazing!"

The Berlin native sunk her birdie putt on the second playoff hole to defeat Emma Spitz and secure her fourth LET title, which have all come in her last 11 starts. Having not played on the LET since her victory in Tampa, it also means Forsterling has now won in her last two starts on the LET in 2024.

"We are so excited to see Lexi's fantastic play continue," Sun Devil Women's Golf Head Coach  Missy Farr-Kaye  exclaimed. "We could not be more proud of the way she is representing Arizona State at the professional level."

The final round saw an intense battle with Forsterling and Austria's Spitz going head-to-head on the golf course as they started the day as joint-leaders on seven-under-par. As the duo headed down the last hole, Spitz had a one-shot lead but a brilliant second shot from Forsterling left her with a tap-in birdie to level the scores at 12-under-par after 72 holes. Both headed back to the 18th and made birdies on the first playoff hole before Forsterling came through with a clutch birdie on the second playoff hole to become the first German to win on home soil on the LET.

Forsterling remains in second place in The Order of Merit race. She only trails Bronte Law, who has played in three more events than Forsterling. Previously known as the Race to Costa Del Sol, the golfer that finishes the 2024 season on top of The Order of Merit will receive LET Player of the Year honors. Forsterling has also accumulated over $215,000 in prize money through four events in 2024, putting her third on the LET money list.

RANKINGS BOOST Thanks to her victory in Germany, Alexandra Forsterling improved in several important metrics. She moved up in the Top-100 in the Rolex Women's Golf World Rankings, climbing to No. 56, a new career-best. Other Sun Devils in the Top-100 of the World Rankings include Linn Grant (#28), Carlota Ciganda (#29), Anna Nordqvist (#62), and Azahara Munoz (#97). Forsterling is currently second in Solheim Cup Points among LET competitors, trailing only Charley Hull. This puts her in a position for an automatic qualifying spot for Team Europe heading into the 2024 Solheim Cup in September. Fellow Sun Devils Carlota Ciganda (3rd), Linn Grant (12th), and Alessandra Fanali (#19) join her in the Top-20.

FANTASTIC FIRST YEAR In just her first season on the LET, Forsterling finished 8th in the Race to Costa Del Sol Standings, which is the title for top player on the LET. Fellow Sun Devil Linn Grant was the 2022 Race to Costa Del Sol winner. Forsterling nearly won LET Rookie of the Year, finishing in second place right above fellow Sun Devil Alessandra Fanali. In 24 LET events total, Forsterling recorded two wins, three Top-10s, 13 Top-20s, and 19 made cuts in 2023.

READY FOR THE PROS It did not take Forsterling long to make an impact on the professional level, the latest in a long line of standouts to come out of the Sun Devil Women's Golf program. In  her first season on the LET, she emerged as one of the top competitors, finding herself in contention on a weekly basis. Forsterling was one of only two players to earn two victories on Tour last season. The only other player who won twice on the LET in 2023 was the No. 3-ranked golfer in the world, Céline Boutier. Forsterling accumulated over $200,000 in prize money on just the LET alone during her rookie campaign.

QUALIFIED FOR THE LPGA TOUR Sun Devil Women's Golf alum Alexandra Forsterling is officially a member of the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA), qualifying for the 2024 Tour. She earned category 15 status next year thanks to her Top-45 finish in Stage II of LPGA's "Q-School", used to determine the next group of LPGA members. Forsterling now has an opportunity to compete at the highest level of women's professional golf.

Forsterling is now a member of both the LPGA and Ladies European (LET) Tours as she continues to emerge as one of the top young female golfers. At LPGA Q-School, competitors have to survive a grueling two-stage process in which many of the World's best fail to qualify. Forsterling managed to comfortably get through to Stage II and was in need of a Top-45 finish at Magnolia Grove Golf Course in Mobile, Alabama. She sealed her spot as a 2024 LPGA Member thanks to a T27th finish, shooting 11-under over the two rounds.

Despite her status as a 2024 LPGA rookie, Forsterling will be no stranger to the attention and pressure brought on by the world's most important female golf tour. She has played in three previous LPGA events, including two while she was still a member of the Sun Devil Women's Golf program. Forsterling joins an incredibly long and decorated list of Sun Devils to have made the LPGA Tour since it's foundation back in 1950. Fellow ASU alums Anna Nordqvist, Carlota Ciganda, Linn Grant, Azahara Munoz, Linnea Strom, and Roberta Liti also boast LPGA Tour membership status and will now be joined by Forsterling in professional events.

THIRD LET VICTORY Alexandra Forsterling won the Aramco Team Series - Tampa Individual Championship in January of 2024 at Feather Sound Country Club. Forsterling secures her third victory on the Ladies European Tour (LET) in the past six months. Since becoming a full-member of the tour last year, Forsterling has established herself as one of the premier title contenders. She put together yet another excellent performance to add to her trophy case, as she has now won the 2023 VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open, 2023 Mallorca Ladies Golf Open, and the 2024 Aramco Team Series - Tampa Individual Title.

"I feel overwhelmed," she told  LadiesEuropeanTour.com  after the victory. "I don't know what to say! It's an amazing feeling, I was definitely nervous like you always are in a final round, but I just tried to learn from the last times when I won and just play my game, adjust to the wind and have fun."

The Berlin, Germany native fired a final round 67 (-5) to secure a three-shot victory. Despite entering the day trailing by two strokes, Forsterling took control after recording back-to-back birdies on six and seven. She caught fire on the back nine, rolling in birdies on 12, 13 and 16 to seal the win with a total of 204 (-12). Fellow Sun Devil Women's Golf alum Carlota Ciganda finished tied for fourth and was front and center for Forsterling's performance, as the duo was paired together on the final day.

SECOND LET VICTORY Sun Devil Women's Golf alum Alexandra Forsterling won the Mallorca Ladies Golf Open in November of 2023, securing her second career title on the Ladies European Tour (LET).

Forsterling carded rounds of 69, 67 and 67 for a 54-hole total of 203, finishing at 13-under-par and securing an emphatic five-stroke victory at Golf Son Muntaner. Starting the day trailing by one stroke, Forsterling took advantage of struggles from the leader. Thanks to a birdie on the third hole, she would find herself at the top of the leaderboard for the first time. Forsterling would not look back, making a birdie on the long seventh to reach 10-under-par and stretch her lead to three strokes. Another birdie for Forsterling, this time on the 11th hole, opened a comfortable four-stroke advantage. Forsterling then went on to birdie 15 and finished with three straight pars to seal the victory to go along with $60,000 in prize money.

"I can't believe it," Forsterling told LadiesEuropeanTour.com. "I still can't believe that I won in Switzerland and now here. It just feels great. I played really good today and didn't make many mistakes. I saved a couple of shots and it was just perfect."

FIRST LET VICTORY Sun Devil Women's Golf alum Alexandra Forsterling won the VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open back in September, securing her first career title on the Ladies European Tour (LET).

Forsterling shot a 66 (-5) three consecutive days, erasing a two-stroke deficit on the final day to claim the victory at Golfpark Holzhausern in Switzerland. A bogey-free final round and clutch birdies on 8, 10, 12, and finally 18 helped her seal the VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open Championship while collecting $45,000 in prize money.

"I can't quite believe it," Forsterling told LadiesEuropeanTour.com. "It feels so strange in a way. Obviously you always work for it, but then when it happens you can't quite believe it."

It has not taken Forsterling long to make an impact on the professional level, the latest in a long line of standouts to come out of the Sun Devil Women's Golf program. In just her first season on the LET, she has emerged as one of the top competitors, finding herself in contention on a weekly basis.

FORSTERLING AT ASU Through her first three years with the Sun Devil Women's Golf program,  Alexandra Forsterling  was a consistent presence in the lineup, performing admirably for a Top-10 Arizona State team. During a breakout senior campaign, she took her game to another level, becoming one of the best golfers in the nation. She did it while maintaining a 3.95 GPA and graduating with a degree in Film, epitomizing the ideal student-athlete. The unanimous First Team All-American continued the long lineage of great female golfers at Arizona State. Thanks to her efforts as a senior she was named the 2022 Most Improved Player by Golfweek. She was the first recepient of the award sponsored by Rapsodo.

The No. 5-ranked golfer in the nation (top-ranked Senior) was named the 2022 Pac-12 Scholar Athlete of the Year, one of many accolades from that season. She also competed in the most prestigious amateur event in the sport, participating at iconic Augusta National Golf Course as a part of the Augusta National Women's Amateur. The Berlin, Germany native was one of ten finalists for the ANNIKA Award, which is given annually to the top player in women's collegiate golf. Forsterling enjoyed one of the most prolific seasons in program history.

Forsterling recorded seven Top-10 finishes in 2020-21, despite the fact that the Sun Devils faced one of the nation's toughest schedules. The highlight of her season was winning the Individual Title at the 2021 PING/ASU Invitational, beating out a field with 25 of the Top-100 ranked golfers, including the nation's No. 1. Forsterling recorded Top-10 finishes at the Stanford Intercollegiate, Darius Rucker Intercollegiate, Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge, Silverado Showdown, and the Stillwater Regional. She was the senior leader on a team that finished ninth at the NCAA Women's Golf Championship. Not only has she achieved great things on the course, but she has also led by example with her performance in the classroom. She has made the ASU Dean's List in each of her eight semesters and was a Pac-12 Academic Spring Honor Roll selection all four seasons.

Olympic Golf Ranking Top 60 Taking Shape as End of Qualification Period Nears

Five things to know about the u.s. women’s open.

  • Tournament Preview

Hannah Green

A sixth 2024 victory at the Mizuho Americas Open has further solidified American gold medalist Nelly Korda’s place atop both the Olympic Golf Ranking and the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings. But while Korda is already a shoo-in for the Paris Olympics, some of her LPGA Tour counterparts are still fighting tooth and nail for one of the coveted 60 spots at Le Golf National in August.

After moving into the top 10 in the Rolex Rankings for the first time in her career following her successful title defense at the JM Eagle LA Championship presented by Plastpro, Hannah Green has climbed to fifth in the world and is now the highest-ranked Australian in the Olympic Golf Ranking. She sits four spots ahead of Minjee Lee in the top 15 and barring a dramatic downturn from the 27-year-old, the five-time LPGA Tour winner should be making her second Olympic appearance in Paris in a few months’ time.

Two-time Epson Tour winner Alena Sharp has knocked Maddie Szeryk out of the second Canadian spot in the Olympic Golf Ranking. The 43-year-old has made two starts on the LPGA Tour in 2024, missing the cut at the FIR HILLS SERI PAK Championship and tying for 35th at the Ford Championship presented by KCC. On the Epson Tour, Sharp has earned two top-five results so far this season, tying for fifth at the Florida's Natural Charity Classic and finishing solo third at the Copper Rock Championship.

New Zealand’s Fiona Xu captured her first Epson Tour victory at the Copper Rock Championship, defeating Kaleigh Telfer by a whopping seven shots in Hurricane, Utah, to rank first in the Race for the Card standings. Her 54-hole total of 22-under set a tournament and Epson Tour scoring record, and the win propelled Xu inside the top 60 in the Olympic Golf Ranking, knocking out Momoka Kobori. If she were to qualify, this year would mark the 19-year-old’s Olympic debut.

Slovenian Ana Belac has taken the place of Finnish LPGA Tour winner Matilda Castren in the top 60 after her solid play on the Epson Tour this season. The 27-year-old hasn’t finished worse than T11 on the Official Qualifying Tour of the LPGA in 2024 – tying for eighth at the Casino Del Sol Golf Classic, tying for 11th at the IOA Championship presented by Morongo Casino Resort & Spa, tying for sixth IOA Golf Classic presented by LPT Realty and finishing solo second at the Florida's Natural Charity Classic. Belac currently sits 54th in the Olympic Golf Ranking and is the only Slovenian in the top 60.

Ecuador’s Daniela Darquea has been replaced by Moroccan Ines Laklalech in the Olympic Golf Ranking. After losing her LPGA Tour card following the 2023 season, Laklalech has been competing on the Ladies European Tour in 2024, earning two top-10 finishes at the Lalla Meryem Cup, where she tied for seventh, and at the Investec South African Women’s Open, where she finished solo fifth.

There have also been changes with the Women’s Reallocation Reserve List for the Paris Olympics. American Jennifer Kupcho has replaced past Olympics participant Lexi Thompson on the list, and Japan’s Rio Takeda has replaced Mao Saigo. Additionally, Momoka Kobori of New Zealand, Finland's and Ecuador's Darquea are now on the Women’s Reallocation Reserve List.

The qualification period for the women’s golf competition at the 2024 Paris Olympics will conclude on June 24, following the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship at Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, Wash.

Gold Medalist Xander Schauffele Bolsters Team USA with PGA Championship Win, While Corey Conners Re-enters Conversation

American Xander Schauffele outlasted a thrilling challenge from countryman Bryson DeChambeau and Norway’s Viktor Hovland to win the second men’s major of the year, the PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Course.

Schauffele’s career, which was devoid of major victories to this point, had been highlighted by a finish atop the podium at the Tokyo Olympics. He finished at 21-under for the tournament last week after a birdie at the last – marking a record low for a men’s major – and now joins world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler as the top-two players in the world and top-two players in the Olympic Golf Ranking (OGR).

Along with Scheffler and Schauffele, Team USA is rounded out by No. 4 Wyndham Clark and No. 8 Patrick Cantlay, as the Americans are the only country currently with four players in the top 15, and hence, the only team poised to enter four players into the field at Le Golf National.

Elsewhere, with less than a month to go until the men’s OGR is finalized on June 18 (following the conclusion of the U.S. Open), Canadian Corey Conners overtook countryman Adam Hadwin after a top-15 finish in the Wells Fargo Championship. The trio of Conners, Hadwin and Taylor Pendrith are each within 11 spots of each other in the OGR with only a handful of events remaining.
