I was on vacation and had the chance to see Kaizers Orchestra live in concert with some friends. I ended up having the time of my life. It was such a neat experience. When we got there, the place was already filled up. I guess it was their second sold out show in a row. Anyway, the crowd was going wild. There was mosh pit area right next to the stage and that area was just wild. Everyone was jumping up and down moshing with their hands in the air swaying and fist pumping every where. But, I can't blame them. The music made you want to get up and move! It was so full of energy. The stage was almost completely black except for a few spot lights on the lead singer and other band members. There was a big sign with the band name lit up behind them. It was almost like a neon sign you would see in a bar, but HUGE. They were really good up on stage too. They had a good way of keeping the crowd entertained and involved in the show. They were very passionate too, you could tell by how much they were getting in to making a good performance. It was a good time all around.

Kaizers Orchestra is a Norwegian alternative rock band formed on 1 January 2000. They are notable for being among the first non-black metal Norwegian artists singing in their native language to become popular beyond Scandinavia.

In 2012, the group announced that following a 2013 "Farewell Tour", they would take a long break. Their final concert was held on 14 September 2013 at DNB Arena in Stavanger, and was also streamed live online. Following weeks of teasers and speculation, the band confirmed a reunion and comeback tour scheduled for 2023.

As of 2022, the band has released eight studio albums, five live albums and several EPs and video releases.

Norwegian sextet Kaizers Orchestra’s infectious and theatrical alternative-rock transcends language barriers. The group is a sell-out show commodity in Scandinavia, but has also garnered a devoted audience in Europe and beyond. Despite its lyrics only being sung in Norwegian, the band’s quirky, conceptually ambitious, and triumphant music—a synthesis of Scandinavian and Eastern European folk influences turbo-charged by high-energy blues, indie, metal, and rock—is broadly resonant. Kaizers Orchestra has earned a cult following in the U.S. ,amplified by its one-and-done 2013 performance at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art which was covered as a high-profile debut by The New York Times .

That appearance was a farewell concert for the idiosyncratic indie-rock juggernaut, and Kaizers Orchestra retired at the peak ofits success back home, in Europe, and while it was on the verge of a breakthrough in America. Now, 10 years later, the band has reconvened, and Kaizers Orchestra’s four-month,56 date Norwegian reunion tour has sold out in under fifteen minutes. The band is also planning worldwide tours for 2024-2025;working on a musical structured around its iconic album trilogy—its first project in English; and Kaizer’s Orchestra is excited to announce all of their albums will be re-released and remastered on vinyl, starting February 2023 through August 2023. In addition, the band has hinted at releasing some new tracks and possibly a full album down the line.

“I live my life, create my art, and perform from a true place. It’s like I am standing on an oil barrel shouting a message that

Maybe not every person understands, but they feel the energy,” notes Janove Ottesen, the group’s singer and principal composer. “Sometimes you can communicate feelings without words. For example, I love French music and Latin music, and I don’t speak those languages. Being authentic to my life means singing in Norwegian, but the vibe and what I am trying to communicate is universal.”

Kaizers Orchestra invites comparisons to Icelandic post-rock band Sigur Rós where the music supersedes any language barrier; Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, in terms of being a “cult band” that is also a worldwide phenom; and Radiohead where a band with uncompromising musicality can make widely appealing albums. The sextet specializes in cinematic songs that burst through genres and exude an intriguing dichotomy with a primal urgency to the hooks and the beats (oil barrels and brake drums often

serve as percussion) balanced by sophisticated musicality and imaginative arrangements. Kaizers Orchestra counts as influences Quentin Tarantino, Tom Waits (Fun fact; Kaizers Orchestra is on Tom Waits´ top 10 list of his favorite artists of all time – “Thinking man’s circus music. Savage rhythms, like storm trooping tarantellas. Farout.”),the 1937 Disney film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs , British and American pop, rock, and blues.

The songs feature sweeping story arcs that include both thrilling fictionalized narratives, and intimate personal reflection. The band’s name was pinched from the infamous villain Keyser Söze from the 1995film The Usual Suspects . The idea here was to create something of a whimsically evil orchestra. “We love the possibility of this mythical and mystical character behind the scenes. The idea of this entity performing for Keyser,” Janove says laughing. “And being a six-piece band of

multi-instrumentalists, we felt like an orchestra. It wasn’t that thought out when we named the band,though, but I notice these things in hindsight.”

Kaizers Orchestra is Janove Ottesen, lead vocals, guitars, percussion; Geir Zahl, guitars, vocals, backing vocals,oil barrel ; Terje Winterstø Røthing, guitars, backing vocals, oil barrel; Helge Risa, organ, piano, accordion, backing vocals;

Rune Solheim, drums, percussion; and Øyvind Storesund, double bass, bass guitar. The band formed in 2000 while Janove was studying to be a music teacher, and literally in his class found Kaizers Orchestra’s keyboardist and drummer. The two guitar players were his childhood buddies,and the band found its original bassist through a recommendation from the local music store.

Kaizers Orchestra debuted on a small stage at a Norwegian festival, and quickly attracted the interest of the audience waiting through the set changeover for the artist on the mainstage. The song of resistance the band were playing at the time exploded into a sing-along as thousands of people who never heard the band joined in for the hook. That fateful moment Kaizers Orchestra realized they had something special. The guys worked non-stop for 13 years, tirelessly touring and writing sprawling conceptual music, releasing eight studio albums—including a massive album trilogy project that spanned 5 years—five live albums, and several EPs and video releases.

Today, Kaizers Orchestra is looking ahead with international tours, the musical, there mastered reissues, and possible new music. The guys are excited to explore what Kaizers Orchestra has to say 10 years later. “It’s touching to be back together. We started this band as six young boys who were as close as brothers, and now I feel I have my family back,” Janove says. “Our music has given us so many gifts. It’s blessed us with houses and wonderful lives, and we are very grateful. We appreciate our success and lives more than ever!”

Alexander Sladkovsky

The People's Artist of Russia Alexander Sladkovsky graduated from the Moscow and Saint Petersburg conservatories. He is a winner of the III International Prokofiev Competition. In 2001, he conducted in a concert at the Hermitage Theater in honor of the visit of Her Majesty Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands. He assisted Maris Jansons and Mstislav Rostropovich and from 2006 to 2010 he was a conductor of the New Russia State Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Yuri Bashmet. Since 2010 Alexander Sladkovsky is an Artistic Director and a Chief Conductor of the Tatarstan National Symphony Orchestra in the city of Kazan (Tatarstan, Russia), which he transformed into one of the finest orchestras in Russia.

The TNSO under the direction of Alexander Sladkovsky is the first Russian regional orchestra recorded by Medici.tv and Mezzo channels. In 2016, for the first time in the orchestra’s history it gave concerts during a European tour in the Brucknerhaus (Linz) and in the Golden Hall of Musikverein (Vienna). In December 2018, the TNSO and Maestro Alexander Sladkovsky made the first tour in China and in 2014 (Japan) and 2019 (France) the orchestra conducted by Alexander Sladkovsky performed at the La folle journée festival. One of the concerts of this festival in Nantes in 2019 was recorded and broadcasted by ARTE.

In 2012 Sony Music and RCA Red Seal released a three CD album entitled “Anthology of music by composers of Tatarstan” and a CD “Enlightenment”. In April 2014, the TNSO under the direction of Alexander Sladkovsky performed at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris at the ceremony, where Denis Matsuev was awarded with the title of “Ambassador of Good Will”. In the 2014/15 concert season, Alexander Sladkovsky with the TNSO performed at the Bolshoi Theater of Russia during the concert, dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the Crescendo festival, and in Saint Petersburg within the first orchestra’s subscription at the Mariinsky Concert Hall.

In 2016 in cooperation with the Melodiya record label several global musical projects were realized: the recording of three symphonies of G. Mahler (Nos. 1, 5, 9) and also recordings of all symphonies and concertos of D. Shostakovich. In spring 2020 recordings of all Tchaikovsky's symphonies and concertos will be released by the Sony Classical label.

In 2016, Alexander Sladkovsky was awarded the prize “Conductor of the Year” by the national newspaper The Musical Review and “Person of the Year in Culture”, according to the magazine Delovoi kvartal and the online newspaper Business Online. In 2019, Alexander Sladkovsky has been awarded the Sergei Rachmaninov International Award in the nomination "Special Project in the Name of Sergei Rachmaninov" for special attention to his legacy and organizing the Sergei Rachmaninov International Festival "White Lilac" in Kazan.

In the concert season 2018/19 Tatarstan National Symphony Orchestra under the direction of the artistic director and chief conductor, People’s Artist of Russia Alexander Sladkovsky became the first regional orchestra, which performed within its own Subscription at the Moscow State Philharmonic Society.

Legendary rock musician made his first appearance in the capital of Tatarstan... On 2 July Sting appeared in Kazan. A few years ago it seemed impossible. The night before the concert of the legendary British rock musician to become a reality. Together with the orchestra Tatar Academic Opera and Ballet im.M.Dzhalilya Sting sang his own songs and hits of ''The Police'' in the stage of ''Tatneft-Arena''. Kazan heard the program 'Simphonicity', specifically for a world hits Sting have been reworked for the performance of a symphony orchestra. Orchestra musicians Tatar Opera and Ballet Theater, invited to speak with the superstar, learned the musical material is sent well before the concert. Sting sang the famous 'If I Ever Lose My Faith In You' then presented Tatarstan Orchestra and its musicians, including guitarist Dominic Miller, a wonderful vocalist Joe Lowry, and, of course, conductor Sarah Hicks, who does not just conducted the orchestra, and danced to the music. Conductor himself was Sting. He skillfully managed the mood of the audience, which was set up perfectly. Each song is accompanied by and ended with standing ovations, with admiring exclamations. Chorus of the next hit 'Englishman in New York' listeners know by heart and sang along with Sting. After another blast wave of applause to the singer carried a guitar, and sounded 'Roxanne'. Then sounded 'Mad about You', 'When We Dance' and finally, 'Russians' in blood-red lighting. In this song about the Russian Sting used the tune of ''Romance'' from Suite ''Lieutenant Kizhe'' by Sergei Prokofiev. 'Russians' was written during the Cold War, but still finds a ready response in the hearts of listeners. No less bright were performed and other hits, such as, 'Field Of Gold', 'Next To You', after which Sting in good Russian announced a 20-minute break. The second part of the concert opened the famous 'Shape Of My Heart'. The song 'This Cowboy Song' remember provocative dancing cowboy singer and guitarists. Prior to the 'Moon Over Bourbon Street' Sting on stage clothed in a dark coat over a red lining, the light dimmed. The scene where the only decoration was a dark curtain, plunged into gloom, creating an image of the vampire horror stories, thanks to special lighting. 'Every Breath You Take' became the latest in the concert program, and then Sting bowed and said, ''Thank you'' and left the scene. Leave he was given a short time. Hall stood accompanied the legendary singer, who gave the people of Kazan memorable concert.
