Jet to Reunite For ‘Get Born’ Anniversary Tour

Jet is getting back in the air and out on the road for a string of concerts this September.

For the first time in half a decade, the Melbourne rock band will reunite for a run of concerts to mark the 20th anniversary of their debut album, Get Born .

Yielding the hits “Are You Gonna Be My Girl,” which appeared in an international iTunes campaign and cracked the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart (peaking at No. 29); “Look What You’ve Done,” “Rollover DJ “and “Get Me Outta Here,” Get Born went on to land six ARIA Awards and is certified nine-times platinum in Australia. Global sales top 5 million, reps say, and Get Born remains one of the top 5 highest-selling Australian rock albums of all time.

Jet was finally grounded in 2012, before briefly reforming in 2017 to play with Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band on their sold-out Australian tour of that year. A handful of dates followed, including a slot at Fuji Rock festival in Japan.

“I don’t remember much about the actual day Get Born was released,” comments Wilson. “I think we were in Pittsburgh. I’m sure we celebrated, but to be honest we celebrated every night back in those days. 2003 was one big blurry haze for me.”

The general public ticket on sale starts Friday, June 16, with pre-sales opening from Thursday.

Warring brothers. Whole songs nabbed from classic rock bands. Split up past their time… Stop me if you think you’ve heard this one before. As similar as this potted history is to some bunch of Britpop chancers from Manchester with a Lennon obsession I’m not actually talking about the Gallagher siblings. No. The brothers I’m talking about here go by the name of Nic and Chris Cester and they fronted one of the premier Australian bands of the 21st century, Jet. However, what does separate the Cesters from the Gallaghers is that they could always be counted on to put on a thumping good live show. For all their positive points, that wasn’t always the case with Oasis. For a band so in thrall to traditional rock and roll mythos it makes sense that there were never any gimmicks or flashy distractions. Just the four core members, a touring keyboard player and every single amp turned way past eleven. It goes without saying that their brand of punk infused Hard Rock went over like gangbusters live, hearing classic tracks like Cold Hard Bitch, She’s A Genius and the deathless Are You Gonna Be My girl in the setting that they were created to be heard in was a thrill that couldn’t be overstated. They may be no more but nothing is set in stone for the Cesters, and if they do make a comeback, then a Jet show is a must-see for anyone with a hankering for some honest to goodness Rock and Roll played fast, loud and with buckets of attitude.

Jet announce first UK and Ireland tour in 15 years to celebrate 20th anniversary of ‘Get Born’

The last time they performed in the countries was in 2009

Jet have announced their first UK and Ireland tour in 15 years in celebration of the 20th anniversary of their seminal 2003 debut album ‘Get Born’.

The UK and Ireland tour marks the band’s return to the countries since 2009. It will kick off on October 3 at The Academy in Dublin. From there, the Australian rockers will make their way to Belfast, Glasgow, Birmingham, Manchester, Nottingham and Bristol before wrapping up at the O2 Forum Kentish Town in London on October 12.

General ticket sales for the tour will commence on Friday (May 24) at 10am local time. Visit here for tickets and check out a full list of dates below.

Speaking about the tour and their return to the UK and Ireland in a press release, vocalist and guitarist Nic Cester said: “’Get Born’ was a rare and unique moment of total planetary alignment where we somehow managed to capture lighting in a bottle. We’re all really excited to come back to the UK & Ireland for these shows.”

They are touring in Australian and have a handful of US shows in October in celebration of ‘Get Born’. Visit here for Australian tickets  and  here for US tickets. The tour will see Jet perform the album in its entirety, including hits such as ‘Are You Gonna Be My Girl’, ‘Look What You’ve Done’, ‘Rollover DJ’ and ‘Get Me Outta Here’.

Elsewhere, Jet have recently released their new single ‘Hurry Hurry’ and are working on their long-awaited fourth album, which is set for release in 2025.

The LP will mark their first new album since 2009’s ‘Shaka Rock’. Taking to their official social media accounts, the Aussie rockers wrote: “We’re so excited to tell you that after 15 years, we’ve started work on a new album due for release in 2025!”

In other news, Cester previously revealed that he had auditioned to be in AC/DC  before they hired  Guns N’ Roses ‘  Axl Rose .

While appearing as a guest on Australian radio station Triple J, Cester shared that he received a call to audition for AC/DC after singer Brian Johnson had to step away from the band due to hearing issues.

Jet Announce ‘Get Born’ 20th Anniversary Tour

The celebration is the band’s first batch of live shows in five years

Jet have announced a string of tour dates celebrating the 20th anniversary of their smash hit debut album Get Born . The band will play four exclusive shows in Australia, performing the multi-platinum record in full. The run will commence on September 22 at Melbourne’s Forum Theatre, followed by Hindley Street Music Hall, Adelaide on September 23, Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall on September 29 and concluding at Enmore Theatre Sydney on September 30.

“Get Born was a rare and unique moment of total planetary alignment where we somehow managed to capture lighting in a bottle,” frontman Nic Cester said.

Bassist Mark Wilson adds “I don’t remember much about the actual day Get Born was released. I think we were in Pittsburgh. I’m sure we celebrated, but to be honest we celebrated every night back in those days. 2003 was one big blurry haze for me.”

A ticket pre-sale begins this Thursday, June 15 at 10am local time. The pre-sale will be limited to just 24 hours. General public tickets go on sale this Friday, June 16 at 11am at  livenation.com.au .

After being off the grid for the last five years, Jet began teasing their return back in the spring. On March 31, the band shared a reel on social media celebrating 500,000,000 Spotify streams of their hit single “Are You Gonna Be My Girl?” Since then, the band has been dropping  montage clips  featuring the date “14.06.23.”

Jet’s last album was 2009’s  Shaka Rock . The record arrived on August 19 via Real Horrorshow/EMI. It produced three singles – “She’s a Genius,” “Black Hearts (On Fire),” and “Seventeen.” The album peaked at No. 27 on the Billboard 200 and No. 11 on Billboard’s Top Rock Albums chart. It debuted at No. 5 in the band’s native Australia. They toured in support of the record, which included a supporting run with Green Day across Australia.

In 2012, the band decided to call it quits.

“After many successful years of writing, recording and touring we wish to announce our discontinuation as a group,” the band said in a statement. “From the many pubs, theatres, stadiums and festivals all across the world it was the fans that made our amazing story possible and we wish to thank them all. Thank you, and goodnight.”

In 2017, Jet reunited and began performing again. They served as special guests Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band on their sold-out Australian tour. The following year, they celebrated the 15th anniversary of their smash hit debut LP. The released the live album  Get Born: Live at The Forum . The band last performed together in October of 2019.

Jet have just announced an extended run of dates across Australia this May and June celebrating the 20-year anniversary of their seminal debut album, Get Born.

Legendary Aussie rockers Jet have announced an extended edition of their highly acclaimed Get Born: 20 Year Anniversary Tour, set to rock stages across Australia this May and June.

Responding to overwhelming demand, the band has decided to extend the tour, which initially kicked off to resounding success in September last year. Now, they’re hitting the road once again to visit a fresh lineup of towns and cities across the country. The ‘Extended Edition’ of the tour will commence in Torquay on Friday, May 10, before making stops in Hobart, Fremantle, Darwin, Brunswick Heads, Sunshine Coast, Central Coast, Kiama, Canberra, and Newcastle.

At each tour stop, Jet will treat fans to a trip down memory lane by performing their iconic debut album, Get Born, in its entirety. This means classics like “Are You Gonna Be My Girl,” “Look What You’ve Done,” “Rollover DJ,” and “Get Me Outta Here” will reverberate through venues, just as invigorating now as they were two decades ago.

Reflecting on the album’s impact, Nic Cester shared, “Get Born was a rare and unique moment of total planetary alignment where we somehow managed to capture lighting in a bottle.”

The monumental success of Get Born is undeniable, having scooped up six ARIA Awards and achieving nine times platinum certification in Australia alone. Internationally, Jet soared to the top of the US Modern Rock and Mainstream Rock charts and shared stages with music legends like the Rolling Stones, Oasis, and Kings Of Leon. With worldwide album sales exceeding 5 million, Jet’s legacy is firmly cemented in rock history.

Following a hiatus in 2012, Jet made a triumphant return in 2017 with sold-out shows alongside Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band. Their subsequent performances at Fuji Rock festival and sold-out gigs at Sydney and Melbourne Zoos confirmed that the demand for Jet’s electrifying performances remained as strong as ever.

Comprised of Nic Cester (vocals/guitar), Chris Cester (vocals/drums), Cam Muncey (vocals/guitar), and Mark Wilson (bass), Jet has been a mainstay in the Australian music scene since their formation in the late ’90s. Free Beyoncé tickets and massive book deals are among the perks of being a Supreme Court justice, financial disclosures released Friday revealed. 

The filings from eight of the court’s nine justices listed outside income, gifts received and investments made by the jurists last year, all of which they are required to disclose annually. 

Four justices – Brett Kavanaugh, Ketanji Brown Jackson, Neil Gorsuch and Sonia Sotomayor –  reported raking in nearly $1.6 million from book deals and royalties in 2023. 

The highest sum was reported by Jackson, President Biden’s most recent appointee , who received a $893,750 advance from Penguin Random House for her upcoming memoir, “Lovely One.” 

Kavanaugh disclosed that he earned $340,000 in royalty income for a yet-to-be-published “legal memoir.”

Gorsuch reported $250,000 in book royalties from HarperCollins Publishers, and Sotomayor listed nearly $87,000 in book-related money from Penguin Random House. 

The disclosures also require the justices to itemize any gifts received while sitting on the bench. 

Jackson reported receiving four concert tickets valued at $3,700 from Grammy Award-winning singer Beyoncé Knowles-Carter. 

She also said she was gifted artwork for her Supreme Court chamber valued at $12,500.

Justice Clarence Thomas, who previously failed to disclose trips he took with billionaire Republican donor Harlan Crow, noted that in 2023 he received two photo albums from Terrence and Barbara Giroux worth $2,000.

Terrence Giroux is the executive director of the Horatio Alger Association, a nonprofit that provides college scholarships to low-income students. 

Justices also had to report any other income they received aside from their Supreme Court paychecks. 

Sotomayor reported an $1,879 payment from Fred Rogers Productions for lending her voice to the animated PBS children’s show “Alma’s Way.” She also disclosed that she has a rental property in Miami that brought in between $5,001 and $15,000 in income in 2023.

Justice Elena Kagan revealed that she rented out a parking space in Washington, DC, that generated between $15,001 to $50,000 for her last year. 

Several of the justices also reported receiving modest salaries from teaching gigs at law schools. 

Gorsuch made  $29,798 from a position at George Mason University, Kavanaugh earned $25,000 from the University of Notre Dame Law School and Justice Amy Coney Barrett received $14,947 from Notre Dame as well.
