Dublin Pedal Tours
- Cloudy days
Dublin Pedal Tours takes you on a 15-seater covered pedal bus with no engine, just pure human pedal power. They are known for their laughter, cheers and music that bring a smile as they pass by.
There are 3 different types of tours available, each lasting 2 hours plus:
1. Sightseeing pub tour which brings you around the sights of Dublin and lets you stop for a rest in some of Dublin's well-known pubs to stretch the legs and take some refreshments.
2. Those who don’t wish to stop can just cycle from place to place around Dublin - an unusual and amusing way to see the city's sights!
3. Or try the Musical sightseeing tour which stops at places which are connected to famous Irish musicians. Connect your phone or device to play your own music on board while taking in the sights of Dublin.
Catering for groups from 8 to 48 people, Dublin Pedal Tours is a great way of seeing Dublin and is very "photo friendly". They are located between the General Post Office and Penney's on Prince's St. North, off O'Connell St, Dublin.

Dublin Pedal Tours Prices – Everything You Need to Know
- 2024-03-07 2024-03-07
Welcome to Dublin, the vibrant capital of Ireland! If you’re looking for a fun and unique way to explore the city, Dublin pedal tours are the perfect option. Not only do these tours provide an exciting way to see the sights, but they also offer an eco-friendly and active experience. In this article, we’ll break down everything you need to know about Dublin pedal tours prices, ensuring you have all the information you need to budget and plan your trip accordingly.
1. Understanding Dublin Pedal Tours
Dublin pedal tours are bicycle tours with a twist. Instead of traditional bicycles, you’ll be riding on a specially designed pedal-powered vehicle known as a “pedal pub” or “pedibus.” These unique vehicles can accommodate a group of people and are equipped with pedals, seats, and a beer tap for those who want to enjoy a drink while exploring the city.
1.1 How Do Dublin Pedal Tours Work?
During a Dublin pedal tour, a professional guide will lead your group through the city, taking you to popular attractions, historical sites, and hidden gems. You and your fellow tour-goers will pedal together, allowing you to actively participate in the tour while enjoying the beautiful streets of Dublin.
1.2 Group Size and Duration
Most Dublin pedal tours accommodate groups of up to 15 people. The duration of the tour can vary, but it typically lasts between 1.5 to 2 hours, giving you plenty of time to explore various landmarks and neighborhoods.
2. Dublin Pedal Tours Prices
Now, let’s dive into the Dublin pedal tours prices, so you can plan your budget accordingly. The cost of a Dublin pedal tour depends on several factors, including the group size and the duration of the tour.
2.1 Group Size
The prices for Dublin pedal tours are often quoted per group, rather than per person. The larger the group, the higher the overall cost of the tour. Generally, the cost per group ranges from €150 to €300.
2.2 Duration
The duration of the tour also impacts the price. Longer tours may incur additional costs. Prices for a 1.5 to 2-hour Dublin pedal tour can range from €150 to €300, depending on the service provider.
2.3 Booking and Additional Costs
It’s important to note that while the base price often covers the tour itself, additional costs may apply. These may include drinks, snacks, and gratuities for the tour guide. Make sure to check with the tour provider and clarify what is included in the price to avoid any surprises.
3. How to Choose a Dublin Pedal Tour
With several tour providers to choose from, finding the right Dublin pedal tour can be overwhelming. To help you make the best decision, consider the following factors:
3.1 Tour Routes and Itineraries
Each Dublin pedal tour offers a unique route and itinerary. Some may focus on historical landmarks, while others explore the city’s vibrant pub scene. Research the available options and choose a tour that matches your interests.
3.2 Customer Reviews and Ratings
Check customer reviews and ratings of different Dublin pedal tour providers. This will give you insights into the quality of the tour experience and the level of customer satisfaction. Platforms like TripAdvisor and Google Reviews are great resources for this information.
3.3 Additional Services and Amenities
Consider any additional services or amenities provided by the tour company. Some may include complimentary drinks, onboard entertainment, or the option to customize the tour according to your preferences. These added perks can enhance your overall experience.
4. Booking a Dublin Pedal Tour
Once you’ve chosen the perfect Dublin pedal tour, booking is a breeze. Most tour providers offer online booking services through their official websites. Simply select your preferred date, time, and group size, and follow the instructions to confirm your reservation. Make sure to review the cancellation policy and payment methods accepted before finalizing the booking.
5. Tips for a Great Dublin Pedal Tour Experience
To make the most of your Dublin pedal tour, consider the following tips:
- Dress comfortably and wear weather-appropriate clothing. Dublin’s weather can be unpredictable, so be prepared!
- Arrive a few minutes early to ensure a smooth check-in process and avoid any delays.
- Bring a camera or smartphone to capture the memorable moments during the tour.
- Engage with your tour guide and fellow participants. Ask questions and make new friends!
- Respect the rules and regulations provided by the tour guide to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.
- If alcoholic beverages are allowed on the tour, remember to drink responsibly and in moderation.
- Finally, have fun and embrace the unique experience of exploring Dublin on a pedal tour!
Dublin pedal tours offer an exciting and entertaining way to discover the charms of the city. With various tour options available, you can find the perfect fit for your preferences and budget. By understanding the prices, booking process, and tips for a great experience, you’re well on your way to an unforgettable adventure in Dublin. So, grab your friends, hop on a pedal pub, and set off on an unforgettable journey through the streets of Dublin!

Journey back in time and explore the societies that debated the legalisation of homosexuality, the students and lecturers that founded the Sexual Liberation Movement, the first of its kind in Ireland.
Visitors can also visit the stomping grounds of Oscar Wilde and hear about its founding members who drove the groundbreaking 'Campaign for Homosexual Reform' which led to the decriminalisation of homosexuality in Ireland.
Tickets are €13.50 and can be booked here .

I recently had a pedicure and manicure with Alina, it was my first time there and I can honestly say…AMAZING! Her attention to detail is incredible - she didn't miss a single spot! My nails have never looked so perfect. But it wasn't just about the nails - Alina also polished the skin on my feet. They're literally baby soft now, it's amazing! If you're looking for a truly pampering and meticulous nail technician, look no further than Alina. You won't be disappointed! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Pedicure FAQs
How often should i get a pedicure.
You should aim to get a pedicure every 4-6 weeks. Why? Because it takes this long for dead skin to start forming, and targeting it during the early stages can be beneficial.
How often should I have a pedicure?
To help maintain optimal foot health, pedicurists recommend having a pedicure once every 3-4 weeks.
How long does a pedicure take?
It depends on the type of pedicure you choose and how indulgent a treatment you want to have, but typically a pedicure takes between 30-90 minutes.
Can I do my own pedicure at home?
Absolutely. If you can’t get to a salon, or would simply prefer to stay in, you can buy DIY-pedicure kits to use from the comfort of your own home.
How much does a pedicure cost?
There are various types of pedicure, and the cost depends on which one you choose. In South-East Inner City, you should expect to pay between €15 and €60.
What is typically included in a pedicure?
Traditionally, a pedicure begins by bathing your feet in warm water to soften the skin. An exfoliating foot rub is then used to slough off dead skin, before toenails are trimmed and shaped. Some pedicurists will massage your feet and lower legs to aid relaxation before applying a moisturising cream, oil or wrap.
The treatment ends with the application of nail polish – in your choice of colour – to your toenails. Dermatologists do not recommend the cutting of cuticles, as it can lead to infection, so ask your pedicurist to clean, but not cut, your cuticles.
What can I expect during a pedicure treatment?
Most pedicures are based around the classic pedicure, so expect your feet to be bathed in a warm foot bath, then exfoliated using a pumice stone or foot file. Next, your toenails will be trimmed, your cuticles treated, and your feet (and sometimes your calves) massaged. Moisturiser will be applied to leave your feet feeling soothed, smoothed, and nourished and your pedicure will either end there or you can choose to have your toenails painted. Other pedicures follow a similar format with the following adaptations: French pedicures incorporate the French manicure aesthetic (a nude pink nail with a strip of white along the nail’s tip); fish pedicures see the pumice stone swapped out for tiny garra rufa fish which nibble your feet to remove dead skin cells and calluses; stone pedicures use hot stones to relax and rejuvenate the feet; gel pedicures culminate in the application of gel polish to your toenails rather than regular nail polish; a sports’ pedicure uses cooling aromatic oils such as peppermint or eucalyptus to soothe tired muscles; and a spa massage ups the lux by carrying the pedicure out in a private, spa like setting and incorporating indulgent additions like aromatherapy oils and a hot towel wrap.

The 2024 Memorial Tournament is holding a 'Yellow out' Sunday. What the yellow ribbons mean
2024 Memorial Tournament golfers and attendees will be seeing much more yellow heading into the final round at Muirfield Village Golf Club Sunday.
Follow Memorial Tournament live here: 2024 Memorial Tournament final round updates: Scottie Scheffler loses shot off Memorial lead
With Scottie Scheffler leading heading into the fourth round of the Memorial Tournament , many people will don a yellow ribbon to take part in the PGA Tour and Children's Miracle Network campaign to raise $100 million for CMN hospitals including Nationwide Children's Hospital over the next five years to fund pediatric care for millions of children.
Here is why many people will be wearing yellow at Muirfield Village Sunday.
Why yellow ribbons at the 2024 Memorial Tournament?
The "Play Yellow" idea is inspired by Memorial Tournament founder Jack Nicklaus, who wore yellow shirts in the final round of tournaments, including the 1986 Masters he won.
According to the tournament website, he wore yellow to honor Craig Smith, the son of a close friend that fought bone cancer and died at 13 in 1971.
How Memorial Tournament players, attendees are raising money
The "Play Yellow" campaign invites Memorial Tournament fans and players to help raise money for the CMN hospitals in a few ways:
- Wear yellow for Sunday's final round.
- Purchase special AHEAD brand or Nicklaus merchandise in the golf shop.
- Donate at concession stands or within the golf shop.
All donations made during the Memorial will be distributed and assigned to multiple initiatives within Nationwide Children's Hospital.
Rickie Fowler named "Play Yellow" ambassador
Rickie Fowler was named as Jack and Barbara Nicklaus' "Play Yellow" ambassador for the 2024 Memorial Tournament.
"I'm officially excited to be a part of the family," Fowler said. "Something I've always enjoyed is being able to help you guys out with all the causes that you're involved with, with Children's Miracle Network and being able to give back to kids and the youth."
How can I donate to the Memorial Tournament's Play Yellow campaign?
Donations to the campaign can be made at playyellow.org.
Here’s what The Killers played as they kicked off 2024 ‘Rebel Diamonds’ greatest hits UK and Ireland tour in Dublin
It marked one of their first shows back with Dave Keuning, and included a new arrangement of 'Dying Breed'
The Killers have kicked off their 2024 ‘ Rebel Diamonds’ greatest hits tour with an opening night in Dublin. Check out the setlist from the night and fan footage below.

The gig took place in Dublin last night (June 12), as the opening night for the run of dates that the band will be holding across the UK and Ireland throughout the summer. It took place at the 3Arena and saw Brandon Flowers and co. break out a huge 22-song setlist, which included fan favourites from across their catalogue.
It also saw founding member Dave Keuning back in the line-up, following him leaving in 2017 to spend more time with his family . He confirmed that he wouldn’t be joining the band to tour their fifth studio album, ‘Wonderful Wonderful’ , seven years ago, but remained a member of the group.
While he did not contribute to their follow-up LP ‘Imploding The Mirage’ , he did join them in the studio back in 2021 for their seventh album ‘Pressure Machine’ . He also used his time away from the touring line-up to release solo music . These shows mark some of his first back on the road with The Killers.
To kick off last night’s gig, the band opened with a rendition of their 2006 track ‘Read My Mind’, followed by fan favourite ‘Somebody Told Me’, ‘Spaceman’ and ‘Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine’.
View this post on Instagram A post shared by The Killers (@thekillers)
From there, they broke out performances of ‘Shot At The Night’, ‘Running Towards A Place’, ‘Be Still’ and more, before also performing a different arrangement of ‘Dying Breed’ as the last track before the encore.

“Before the magazine covers and the festival slots, before we ever set foot on a transatlantic jet, we were a band. We were full of piss and vinegar and, don’t tell anybody I told you this, we were also full of ambition,” Flowers told the crowd before launching into the reimagined track.
“A lot of people thought we were just full of shit, but there has been one sound so loud that drowned out all the critics and the haters. It wasn’t Dave’s guitar or Ronnie’s drums, and it wasn’t my voice. It was you. We come to town and you show up and we pick up right where we left off. Just like old friends. And you can’t make new old friends. So tonight this next song is our song. It’s about making a promise and keeping it. It’s about showing up.”
From there, the band returned to the stage for a five-song encore, which included ‘boy’, ‘Human’ and ‘Mr Brightside’. It also featured a cover of Erasure ’s track ‘A Little Respect’.
The performance also comes just weeks after the ‘Hot Fuss’ hit ‘Mr Brightside’ hit a huge milestone, and overtook Oasis’ ‘Wonderwall’ to become the UK’s official biggest single of all time yet to reach Number One .
According to figures from the Official Charts Company, it has UK sales and streams of 5.57million, yet never topped the charts.
Find more footage of the gig below, as well as the full setlist.
The Killers’ Dublin setlist was:
‘Read My Mind’ ‘Somebody Told Me’ ‘Spaceman’ ‘Jenny Was a Friend of Mine’ ‘Smile Like You Mean It’ ‘Shot at the Night’ ‘This River Is Wild’ Running Towards a Place’ ‘On Top’ ‘The Man’ ‘A Dustland Fairytale’ ‘Be Still’ ‘Runaways’ ‘All These Things That I’ve Done’ ‘When You Were Young’ ‘Caution’ ‘Dying Breed’ ‘Your Side of Town’ ‘boy’ ‘A Little Respect’ (Erasure cover) ‘Human’ ‘Mr Brightside’
Last night’s gig took place shortly after the band announced their last-minute concert in New York, which took place on the same day as the 20th anniversary for their seminal debut album ‘Hot Fuss’.
During the intimate gig, they broke out a performance of ‘Andy, You’re A Star’ for the first time in seven years .
Flowers and Co. have two more shows in Dublin lined up, followed by four stops in Manchester and three in Glasgow . They’ll then wrap up the tour with six nights at The O2 in London. Visit here for last-minute tickets.
NME spoke to Brandon Flowers last year , with the frontman sharing the news of his upcoming solo album. “I’m making a solo record right now! I almost had it wrapped up,” he said. “The goal has always been to get all four original members to take ownership and be proud of what we’re doing, but it’s so difficult with all four of us living in different cities. It’s not impossible. It’s weird to be talking to you about it, but I’d definitely like to do that.”
He also reflected on the legacy of ‘Hot Fuss’ 20 years on, telling us: “[The Killers] were always little different from the other Vegas bands back then because I noticed that there was this competition and rivalry between local bands. I wasn’t thinking about them – I was thinking about The White Stripes , The Strokes , and Oasis . I didn’t allow myself to get to U2 just yet, but I asked myself, ‘What is it that these bands are doing and why are they not still in their hometown?’ That’s what set us apart quite early on.
“We were different, and we were ambitious. Ambition can be seen as an ugly thing to some people but it has served us well. We were able to persevere and it’s kind of unbelievable.”

Taylor Swift confirms during Liverpool show record-breaking Eras tour will end in December
- Taylor Swift
- Friday 14 June 2024 at 7:31am
Taylor Swift said the Eras tour has been the “most exhausting, all-encompassing, but most joyful, most rewarding, most wonderful thing that has ever happened in my life” as she confirmed it will end in December.
The pop superstar played the first of three back-to-back shows at Liverpool’s Anfield Stadium on Thursday, 13 June, as part of her record-breaking tour, before she is set to play in Cardiff, London and Dublin.
Celebrating the 100th show of the tour, Swift confirmed it will be coming to a close at the end of the year, having added dates in South America, Asia, Australia, Europe, and an additional North American leg since she first announced the tour in November 2022.
During the section of the show dedicated to her 2012 Red album – at the stadium which is home to Liverpool Football Club, dubbed the Reds – she told the audience in videos circulating online: “You know, this is actually the 100th show of the tour.
“Absolutely, that blows my mind. That doesn’t feel like a real statistic to me, because this has definitely been the most exhausting, all-encompassing, but most joyful, most rewarding, most wonderful thing that has ever happened in my life, this tour.”
The popstar told fans they had broken a record for the number of people in the stadium
Swift said the 100th show marked the first time she has admitted to herself “that this tour is going to end in December, like that’s it”.
“I think that this tour has really become my entire life,” the 34-year-old continued.
“It has taken over everything.
“I think I once had hobbies, but I don’t know what they were anymore, because all I do when I’m not on-stage is sit at home, and try to think of clever acoustic song mashups, and think about what you might want to hear.
“When I’m not on the stage, I’m dreaming about being back on the stage with you guys.”
Swift praised her fans who had “done so much to be with us”.
“You’ve made plans so far in advance, you planned what you were going to wear, you memorised lyrics, you got yourselves here, you figured out parking, you figured out transportation, and I want to spend the 100th show just thinking about that, and living in this moment with you, and being here with you.
“Just know that I appreciate every single ounce of effort that you put in to be with us when this tour reaches triple digits of shows, so thank you.”
Swift then played the 10-minute version of 2021 hit song All Too Well.
The UK leg of Swift’s mammoth international Eras tour began in Edinburgh and saw the enthusiastic dancing of the nearly 73,000 Swifties picked up by earthquake monitors 3.7 miles away.
Swift is set to return to London in August to end the UK and European stint of the tour, which is estimated to be worth up to £1 billion to the UK economy.
Her last show will be on 8 December in Vancouver, according to her website.

Swifties face a ‘cruel summer’ as Dublin’s hotel prices soar ahead of the Eras Tour
Taylor Swift fans could be paying over £200 more for an overnight stay in Dublin when the Eras Tour arrives at the end of June.
The global superstar will perform three sold out concerts at the Aviva Stadium, with thousands of fans from the north expected to travel to the shows on June 28,29 and 30.
Hotel prices within one mile of the stadium have surged by 45% from an average of £260 for a room only overnight stay for two adults to £382.
The weekend after the concert, hotel prices drop 28% on average of £270 a night for two adults.
Of these hotels the Clayton Hotel Burlington Road had the lowest price for a room only overnight stay at £292. This is a rise of 42% for a Saturday night stay the week prior which was priced at £205.
The most expensive is Anantara the marker Dublin £591 - a 67% rise from £352.
A week after the Taylor Swift concerts finish these stays drop to £216 and £348 respectively.
Just over a mile from the stadium is the Conrad Dublin hotel charging £992 for an overnight stay for two on Saturday June 29. A week before an overnight stay is £600 and the week after the concert it drops again to £507 - almost half the price.
The Irish Hotels Federation has been contacted for comment.
Ticketholders heading to the concerts at the end of June who haven’t booked accommodation will have to ‘shake it off’ or arrange a ‘getaway car’ home.

“ We booked Dublin Pedal Tours as a fun team activity during the Irish Sports Council Challenge. The Dublin Pedi Bus was the perfect team activity for staff and volunteers in Special Olympics to enjoy some exercise as a group. Greg kept everyone motivated and safe. We all had loads of fun cycling around the Park and look forward to doing it again soon. “
“ We hired Dublin Pedal Tours for promoting our album launch last April, we ran a competition to have 16 fans come out with us to have a few beers and cycle around Dublin and the response we got we could have hired it for a week. The craic we had on the bus was amazing and we gave out loads of Cd’s. Greg let us add large posters of our album on the bus and was good enough to leave them up on it for a week. We would love to use the service again and would highly recommend it for a night out. Big love, Gar- The Riptide Movement. “
“ We had the best laugh ever spinning around Dublin, blaring our tunes, waving to everyone it certainly put a smile on every ones face that we met, we got a great welcome in all the fine pubs we visited along the way, as it can be thirsty work, I would highly recommend thus to anyone it’s fantastic fun. “

Scottie Scheffler’s bank account swelled by another $4 million on Sunday with his fifth victory of the season .
The world No. 1 closed in 74 at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio, for a one-stroke victory at the Memorial. Scheffler’s season earnings climbed to $24 million and change, which is more than double the winnings of Xander Schauffele, the No. 2 player on the money list.
Runner-up Collin Morikawa and Ben An became the ninth and 10 th players this season to cross $5 million in earnings.
Scheffler set the Tour’s record for most Official Money in a single season with $24,024,552. It marked the third consecutive season that he’s set the record for most Official Money ($14,046,910 in 2021-22; $21,014,342 in 2022-23).
Here’s a closer look at how much each player who made the cut in the 73-man field earned from a purse of $20 million.

Scottie Scheffler’s victory at the Memorial presented by Workday shows how far he’s come
Change Text Size
DUBLIN, Ohio – Not long ago, Scottie Scheffler wasn’t winning. Well, wasn’t is harsh. He wasn’t winning enough – not for someone lapping the field from tee to green at a rate not seen since peak Tiger Woods. That type of prowess is historically accompanied by at least a half dozen victories, including a major championship or two, and proclamations of generational stardom.
Instead, Scheffler’s 2023 was defined mainly by what he didn’t do. His two wins should’ve been six. His close calls in majors should’ve yielded at least one victory, and his tightly contested battle with Jon Rahm for Player of the Year should’ve been a runaway race.
See, the world loves to poke holes in greatness and Scheffler had one rather glaring bugaboo that was rightly picked apart: his putting. As invincible as he looked with a driver, iron or wedge in his hands, the cloak dropped when Scheffler stepped on the green. Suddenly, he was human. All the drama shifted from the approach shot to the putt. The exceptional wedge to 5 feet was expected. Whether or not he made the birdie putt became the riveting question. With cameras tightly focused on Scheffler’s putter head, we watched balls veer offline and saw an exasperated Scheffler as the camera panned up. He insisted he was improving and that the fix was not far off, but the stats showed a man without answers.
It came to a head at last year’s Memorial Tournament presented by Workday, where Scheffler strung together his magnum opus from tee to green, gaining 20.7 strokes on the field, the second-best ball striking performance of anyone in the previous 20 years on the PGA TOUR. Yet he stood on the 18th green down by one shot and watched as his 15-foot birdie to go to a playoff slid by the cup, a familiar sight. He lost more than eight strokes on the greens that week, the worst mark in the field. In a year full of putting disappointment, no shortcoming better encapsulated Scheffler’s season – historically great ball-striking and historically poor putting. As he walked off the green, Jack Nicklaus stopped him and said, “(You) didn't make the putt today, but one day (you’ll) make the putt.”
So, as Scheffler poured in a slippery 5-foot par putt on the 18th to win this year’s Memorial by one over Collin Morikawa, it was a reminder of just how far Scheffler has come, with his putter and his place in the sport.
Scottie Scheffler pars the last to hold on and win the Memorial
Jack was right. This time, the putt went in.
“It was pretty special thinking about that as I was walking over to shake (Jack’s) hand today,” said Scheffler after his final-round 74. “Yeah, it was a fun week.”
Scheffler is displaying domination only a few men – Nicklaus included – have conjured. Everything that seemed possible a year ago, but fell just out of reach, has come true. Scheffler is the commanding force in men’s golf with no sign of slowing down, regardless of off-course circumstances that would have spurned lesser competitors.
Scheffler’s win at Jack’s Place was his fifth of the season, the first to reach the milestone since Justin Thomas in the 2017 season. He is the first to win five times before the U.S. Open since Tom Watson in 1980, and Scheffler enters the year’s third major at Pinehurst No. 2 as the overwhelming favorite. With 3-1 betting odds, Scheffler holds the lowest odds entering a major championship since Tiger Woods at the 2009 PGA Championship.
“It’s not luck and it’s not just a run,” said Tom Kim, close friends with Scheffler. “It’s a consistency that’s unbelievable. He gets better every day. He's Tiger-esque.”
In a matter of three months, Scheffler has gone from one of the best in the world to the unrivaled pinnacle that everyone is chasing. He has won this year’s Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard, THE PLAYERS Championship, the Masters, the RBC Heritage and the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday. Winning those five events in a career would deliver a lasting imprint on the sport. Scheffler accomplished it all in one season.
He has done it amidst his fair share of distractions. Some were good, like the birth of his first child, Bennett. Others were worse. He’s dealt with increasing comparisons to titans of the sport, a la Woods and Nicklaus, a pressure that has crushed others through time. Then, there was the incident outside Valhalla Golf Club during the PGA Championship that led to Scheffler’s arrest. Scheffler still finished T8. Then he carded a runner-up at the Charles Schwab Challenge, both while the case was ongoing and as he dealt with the emotions of Grayson Murray’s passing.
Scheffler was undeterred by any of it. His greatness persisted.
“I don't know how he does it,” Scheffler’s caddie Ted Scott said. “With what happened at Louisville and then the tragedy with Grayson, that really affected him a lot. So yeah, it's been a whirlwind of emotions for the last month, but sometimes it's probably a safe place to go, you get in contention and you’re just focused on what you’re trying to do and can get away from the noise.”
Scottie Scheffler battles tough course conditions to win the Memorial
His mental toughness has kept Scheffler grounded, though that’s a characteristic the world No. 1 has carried much longer than a few months. The biggest on-course variable that shifted was the putter.
When the struggles popped up last year, Scheffler initially avoided making significant changes. He kept at it with his normal blade putter, utilizing the same drills with Randy Smith that he used since childhood. He contended he was hitting good putts that weren’t falling, but as the struggles accumulated, it became hard to justify that small changes were all that was needed.
“I tried to do my best to block out the noise, but it was tough coming in here every week and having to answer questions about my putting. It's like, listen guys, I'm doing the best I can, I promise,” Scheffler said with a laugh.
Scheffler ranked 161st in Strokes Gained: Putting last season. His struggles were notable to his friends, too.
“I saw a lot of frustration there,” Kim said. “Even in practice, you could just see him grinding on the putting. He's come a long way.”
In September, Scheffler sought the help of putting coach Phil Kenyon, notable given Scheffler had never worked with anyone other than Smith. Kenyon worked with Scheffler on refining his technique and once that was solid and repeatable, they prioritized feeling athletic instead of being robotic. Scheffler won the Hero World Challenge in December, his first stroke-play event alongside Kenyon, but the woes weren’t corrected until February. That’s when Scheffler switched from his blade putter to a mallet. He won four of his next five starts, including THE PLAYERS and the Masters. He's 71st in SG: Putting this season – far from exceptional but plenty good to support his generational tee-to-green statistics.
“I wouldn't trade those weeks that I had back or the year I had last year, just because I felt like I learned a lot about myself and what makes me tick and I think it made me a better player today,” said Scheffler. “A lot of the challenges in this game, I think, can only toughen me up.”
Scottie Scheffler’s interview after winning the Memorial
It was an experience to fall back on during the final round. Scheffler watched as several putts lipped out or just slid by, any of which would have made Sunday’s proceedings smoother. The lead began at four shots, but by the fifth hole, it was just one. Adam Hadwin made three early birdies, and Scheffler bogeyed the fourth. His lead bounced between one and two shots all day long as Hadwin fell down the board, Morikawa charged and Scheffler couldn’t get a putt to drop. But the pivotal swing came on the 16th when Scheffler jarred a 16-foot par putt, and Morikawa missed one of a similar length. That briefly gave Scheffler a two-shot lead. The lead dropped to one after Scheffler bogeyed 17 and Morikawa made par, but the cushion was enough. Both facing short par putts on the 18th, Scheffler stepped up first, knocked down the speedy 5-footer and fist-pumped for the crowd. Morikawa’s putt didn’t matter. It was over.
“He just knocked that ball in like champions do,” Nicklaus said.
A champion many times over.
