Greece tour reviews

A quintessential Contiki trip! A perfect mix of experiencing culture, tasting food and bathing in the sun with heaps of night life. 2 days on each island gave enough time to explore and rest up. Highly recommend as anyone’s first Contiki!

- Nikita Wolfgang,   Greek Island Hopping

The Spotlight on Greece trip was excellent. The trip manager made the group bond and had a lot of fun with us. The tour guides were experts in their areas and provided a lot of context for the sights we went to. The group, of course, was a good group of people that will be life-long friends . [...]

Frequently asked questions about Greece

Your search for ""

When is the best time to visit Greece?

Greece is wonderful all year round, but the best time to visit will depend on what you’re looking for. Blazing sun and the buzz of cities (and islands) in full swing? Go during July or August. More of a chilled vibe, with fewer tourists? May or September will see you right. Taking huge hikes or just wanna live like a local? Go during the winter months for cheaper accommodations and flights.

Do I need a visa to travel to Greece?

This will depend on your country of origin. Luckily for you, we made a helpful guide that’ll tell you everything you need to know.

https://www.contiki.com/en-us/resources/visas-guide

What is the currency used in Greece?

That’d be the Euro, which replaced the Drachma back in 2002.

What should I pack for a trip to Greece?

It depends on where you’re going and what you plan to do there, and probably the time of year too. That said, you can’t go wrong with bringing:

  • Swimwear
  • Walking shoes
  • Sunglasses
  • Sunscreen
  • Insect repellent
  • A camera

What is the best way to tour Greece?

With local guides, legendary Trip Managers and drivers too. With all the best and most outstanding experiences cherry-picked by travel experts. With a friendly squad of 18-35s from around the world. With the social travel experts. See where we’re going with this? Yup. The best way to tour Greece = Contiki.

What is ATM access like in Greece?

You should find ATMs pretty easily in the major cities, but they may be trickier to come by in more remote or rural areas. Want our advice? Keep a wad of emergency cash in your pocket, just in case.

Is it customary to tip in Greece?

Tipping isn’t especially common among the locals but for tourists, it’s considered normal to leave a tip of around 10-15% in a restaurant.

Is tap water safe to drink in Greece?

In mainland Greece, the tap water is generally safe to drink. On the islands however, you may prefer to find alternatives.

Athens to Santorini: A Greek Island-Hopping Odyssey in the Cyclades | May 29, 2022

Check-in to your hotel and spend the afternoon getting a sneak peek at mythical Athens, a city crammed with ancient wonders and busy with modern, urban soul. Later, meet up with your fellow travellers and Trip Rep back at the hotel and get to know them over dinner.

Regional Dinner

Use your free time this afternoon to explore more of this open-air museum. You could honour the birthplace of drama by climbing around the massive Theatre of Dionysus or get the background on Ancient Greece at the National Archaeological Museum.

Today, board a ferry to Mykonos and take advantage of the amazing views across the Aegean, full of rocky islands as you make your way to the beautiful, whitewashed vistas of cosmopolitan Mykonos.

Breakfast and Dinner

Today: change islands and it’s a total change of scene. Santorini will make your jaw drop with its stunning natural beauty – the result of a massive volcanic eruption. From the water, look up at the iconic blue–domed, whitewashed churches. Once we’re back on land, take in the fantastic views of the neighbouring volcanic islands.

Breakfast and Regional Dinner

After free time this morning, we cruise on to Ios. Relax on the boat and hang out with the group. Peaceful by day, pumping by night, Ios is the ultimate party destination.

Dinner and Breakfast

Relax on sandy beaches or lounge about poolside before a big night out, when Ios’ villages come alive. Head to the small streets of Hora, packed with clubs, bars and pubs and let loose to the pumping tunes. Otherwise, join the outdoor party in the squares and lanes. If you’re keen, you can keep it moving until dawn!

Wave goodbye to Ios and the Cycladic Islands as we set sail back to mainland Greece and spend a final evening together in the mythological city of Athens.

The trip ends after breakfast and it’s time to say farewell to your new friends.

6 Incredible Europe Contiki Tours to Go On in 2024

Fancy touring around Europe in style and not having the worry about the stress of planning and booking a trip? Then   Contiki might be a fabulous option for you.

When I moved from New Zealand to the United Kingdom at age 19, I booked two Europe Contiki tours, and it was the best way to introduce me to this continent I just landed on.

Travelling can be daunting, especially if it’s your first time, or maybe you just don’t want the hassle of booking accommodation, finding things to do and figuring out transportation between countries.

Try out these 6 Incredible Europe Contiki Tours, view of coastline with large rocky cliffs on which sit a number of brightly coloured and densely packed together buildings with a small harbour below

This is when tours are amazing. On Contiki holidays, everything is planned out for you, from your breakfasts, activities and travel to your Contiki accommodation options.

Whether you’re travelling alone, as a couple or in a group of friends or with your family, Contiki can provide the best tours of Europe for everyone.

🧳 MUST-HAVE: Before you head out on your trip, make sure you have travel insurance. My #1 recommendation is SafetyWing !

Contiki Review: What is a Contiki Tour Like?

Contiki is a trusted tour group known not just in Europe but all over the world. Contiki is known for its quality, fun-ness level and professionalism.

I have been on 3 different tour groups during my time in Europe and Contiki is the most popular. Everyone knows Contiki, and the Contiki tour reviews are glowing!

You will find a younger demographic; I found most people were under 25 in my tours but in saying that, it depends on the location and the tour.

If you are going on a New Years tour then you will find the people will be younger. But if you’re going on a tour that focuses on the history or the food, you might find the people are over 25.

With Contiki, I found that they do focus a lot of the parties and good times, whereas another tour group I went on focused more on the information and learning about the destination.

Conitki know how to have a good time!

As  Contiki is one of my favourite brands, I thought I would hunt down the top 6 tours for you and present some of my favourite Contiki reviews!

Here are the Top 6 Most Incredible Europe Contiki Tours!

contiki greece trip

Basically, we're just curious. Has anyone gone on this trip or any other Contiki tours? Are they just "party trips"? are they kinda cheesy? any info would help!

' class=

First, I recommend Contiki for their regular (non-cruise) tours, e.g., their France / Italy / whatever road tours. They are a good deal and generally everyone on them is young, fun, with great attitudes, you bond with your travel-mates, etc., and Contiki actually tours you from place to place. The problems with this Aegean Classic trip were (and in no order):

1) The cruise ship itself was GHETTO. That sums it up. I don't know if you have ever cruised before, but it made Carnival cruises seem like a luxury liner. No joke.

2) 7 days is kind of misleading. It's really only 4 days of seeing the islands. This would be fine, but you spend too much time cruising and not enough time visiting the nice places. For example, for Santorini , which I think is one of the most breathtaking places in the world, the ship docked at 3 p.m. and left at 7 p.m. And it's not like you are able to get off the ship immediately -- you have to wait in a long line and wait for those with "priority" -- those who have booked private tours -- to get off. So it turned out we had less than 3 hours there. Lame. This was the case over and over -- no time for the beach, no time to hit clubs, no time, no time, no time.

3) The price you pay is kind of misleading. The itinerary Contiki gives makes it seem like they take you to the places and show you the sites. But it is not like that at all. Once you arrive in Athens and have your first meeting, they tell you that you can book "optional excursions" for about 40 euros per person per day, and only then will they show you the sites. If not, you get off the ship and you're on your own. We thought the price we paid included Contiki tours of the islands, because that is how they depict it in their itineraries (on the website and in the pamphlets they send you once you book). Not so.

So basically, you must evaluate what is important to you and what you want to get out of your trip. Personally, if we were to do it over again, we would not do the Contiki cruise , but would book each island individually and take ferry boats between them (lots of travel agents will do it for you) -- that way we could spend at least a full day in each place and really get the most out of it.

As for Greece , I traveled to Athens and Mykonos during my Spring Break last year. Since it is your first time alone in Europe (and I'm assuming you don't speak Greek), it would probably be a wise idea to do some sort of cruise or tour. The ferries between the mainland and the islands can be really long and although the ferries have some amenities (restaurants, gift shop, greek tv), 6 hours can be a VERY long ride and really taxing, especially if the seas are rough like they were when I did it. Whether you realize it or not, all that travel will make you pretty tired, so you want to make sure you ride comfortably. Overall, the ferries are totally bearable, but it's just a lot more hassle to buy your tickets, get the timeschedule right, and coordinate everything on your own. A lot the reservations you would need to make for the ferries can only be made in-person at the ferry terminals, and the online listings aren't always up to do date.

The Contiki cruise sounds pretty good. It's probably the better option for your age because A) the major other cruiselines are more expensive and B) they cater to an adult clientele so you aren't really guaranteed to meet many people your age on the boat. I'm sure either way you'll have fun and get to see what you're going to see, but I would vote for the Contiki simply because the other cruises seem a little more bland and adult-oriented. The Contiki cruise you mentioned hits all the major spots Athens, Santorini , and Mykonos-- which are all really gorgeous and fun places. Perfect for college students. Athens has a great, untapped nightlife, especially on a street called Ermou in Psyrri in Athens. It's kind of the student hang-out, bar lined street. I visited Mykonos in March, so it wasn't quite the party central that it is in the summer months, but it was still a beautiful, lovely island. During the summer I've heard it's got extremely fun nightlife.

I've also travelled with Contiki. Like many people, I was skeptical at first because it gets a bad rap sometimes. I absolutely LOVED it though (and have travelled with them again since then.)

The only thing I would recommend is maybe going longer. The Greek islands are absolutely amazing, and you're not going to want to leave after only a 7 day tour (a lot of which will be travel time.)

What ever you decide to do, enjoy your time in Europe!

This Underrated Greek Island Has an Adorable Town, Incredible Food, and a Famous Shipwreck Beach — How to Visit

Here’s the ultimate guide to Zakynthos, the Ionian wonder famed for its picture-perfect Shipwreck Beach.

contiki greece trip

Best Hotels and Resorts

Best things to do, best restaurants, best time to visit, how to get there, areas to visit, how to get around.

SCStock/Getty Images

Instantly recognizable by its astounding luminous turquoise seas enclosed within soaring craggy bluffs, Greece’s Insta-famous Shipwreck Beach is Zakynthos’ claim to global fame. An unwavering favorite among Travel + Leisure readers, the beach, known in Greece as Navagio, frequently tops best beach lists .

Situated off the Mediterranean country’s western mainland, Zakynthos is a member of the Ionian island group, a dreamy blend of blues and greens. The seas that wash Zakynthos and its neighbors range in hue from pale aqua to teal, while the landscapes are cloaked in olive trees, numbering an estimated two million, along with pine trees, citrus orchards, and rare flowers like sea daffodils. Bougainvillea and jasmine bring vivid color and aroma to the isle which its former Venetian rulers named Fior di Levante (the flower of the East).

While Zakynthos has long been known, particularly among young British holidaymakers, as a wild party isle, many locals have worked hard over the years to shrug off this reputation. Most bars that give the island this name are limited to the southern beach town of Laganas. So, you may want to avoid this part of the island altogether.

Most visitors to Zakynthos are drawn to its diverse beaches — some sandy, others lined in fine pebbles or rocky, and caves ideal for snorkeling. The island is unique because it hosts the most important nesting ground for the endangered Mediterranean loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta). In fact, the National Marine Park of Zakynthos was established in 1999 to safeguard this delicate habitat, particularly on beaches in the south, as well as other wildlife, including the Mediterranean monk seal. Rubys Sakis Kandilas, CEO of Explore Zakynthos and a licensed tour guide, told T+L that environmental organization volunteers work diligently to raise awareness among locals and visitors of the need to safeguard turtle nest locations.

Beyond its natural attractions, Zakynthos is evolving into an enticing culinary destination, according to Sophia Kladis, manager of Windmill Bay Hotel . From traditional family-owned tavernas sourcing organic produce from their own farm to upscale seaside restaurants reinventing recipes with deep-seated Venetian roots, there is plenty to keep foodies curious.

Rounding out the experience, Zakynthians make for the utmost hosts, going out of their way to ensure you savor every minute on this wondrous isle.

Longing to lounge on Zakynthos' fine beaches? Here’s how to plan an unforgettable vacation on the island.

Top 5 Can’t Miss

  • Capture the surreal beauty of Navagio (Shipwreck) Beach — known worldwide as one of the most beautiful in the country.
  • Swim in the Blue Caves and remote coves via a skippered charter or self-drive around the island.
  • Explore Zakynthos town.
  • Take a boat tour to the north or south to spot sea turtles and see coves only accessible via water.
  • Dine at an electricity-free taverna on Dafni Beach, where family-run restaurants serve fresh local food.

Olea All-Suite Hotel

A fluid free-form pool connects the 93 rooms at the minimalist, adult-focused, five-star Olea All-Suite Hotel , ensconced amid silvery olive and carob trees on a hillside in Tsilivi facing the Ionian. Organic materials such as bamboo, rattan, and oak grace the soothing indoor-outdoor living spaces that merge effortlessly. Set aside plenty of time for spa treatments featuring Babor products.

Lesante Cape

Situated in Akrotiri, this upscale seafront resort echoes classic Zakynthian architecture in the form of stone-built arches framed with white bands and terracotta-tiled rooftops. Suited to families and couples alike, Lesante Cape features 55 rooms and 10 villas dressed in neutral hues, infinity pools, five restaurants sourcing ingredients from an organic garden, a spa, and even a cultural museum showcasing the island’s heritage.

Domes Aulūs Zante

This all-inclusive five-star hotel, equally accommodating of families and couples, sits at the edge of a pine forest that opens to a sandy beachfront. Conscious of its location in Kalamaki, at a nesting ground for loggerhead sea turtles, guests of Domes Aulūs Zante are encouraged to contribute to local sustainability initiatives.

See Navagio (Shipwreck) Beach

You’ll never forget the first time you saw Shipwreck Beach, known as Navagio in Greek. A rusty shipwreck, now split in half, lies half-submerged in bright white sand surrounded by vertical cliffs and washed by luminous cyan seas. The views are equally awe-inspiring, whether you peer down from the top, stay within the confines of a safety platform, or take in the views from the sea. While landslides in recent years have closed off the beach to visitors, you can reach the bay by boat and swim offshore at a safe distance.

Reach Secret Beaches by Boat

Boat tours ply the northern and southern coasts and offer the opportunity to swim and snorkel in translucent waters. Those headed north pause at Shipwreck Beach and the Blue Caves and stop at secluded coves accessible only by sea. Those heading south visit Marathonisi (Turtle Island) in Laganas Bay, picturesque Cameo Island, and the Keri Caves. Those lucky enough may catch a glimpse of a sea turtle. Kladis recommends choosing one itinerary or spreading it over two days rather than a full-day island circumnavigation, which can be tiring. Alternatively, rent a self-drive boat or hire a skippered motorboat .

Visit the Turtle Rescue Center

At Zakynthos’ southeastern tip, you’ll find Gerakas Beach, one of the island’s most important nesting sites for loggerhead sea turtles ( Caretta caretta ). There, you can visit the Zante Sea Turtle Rescue & Information Center , open May to October free of charge, and learn more about the endangered mammal and how to reduce your impact on their life cycle and habitat. Most importantly, you’ll find out what you should do if you see a turtle in the sea or hatchlings leaving their nest.

Courtesy of Nobelos

In Agios Nikolaos, on the northeast coast, yachties drop anchor at family-owned Nobelos , at the edge of a pine forest. Spend a day lounging on sunbeds on a petite, sandy beach, then relish stellar sea-to-fork fish, seafood, and firmly traditional Greek fare in stylish yet welcoming surroundings. Produce is sourced from the owners’ organic farm, and fish are transported via wooden caique. Bookings are recommended.

Located beside Solomos Square in Zakynthos Town, Prosilio is the island’s definitive fine dining destination. Talented young chef Kristy Karageorgou crafts whimsical dishes with distinctive Zakynthian ingredients that look almost too good to eat. Try the cuttlefish ravioli stuffed with sauteed greens (tsigareli), langoustine, and kourkoutzelia, an edible violet wildflower, or the signature pork ragu with local tavla cheese foam.

Ampelostrates

In the south, head inland to Ampelostrates in Kiliomenos village for wholesome Zakynthian dishes in an atmospheric stone-built farmhouse-turned-mezedopolio amid grape vines, lemon trees, and wandering chickens. “It’s traditional but quirky. The type of place where the owner will serve a wine they produced this year,” said Kladis. “They make pies with wild greens and kouneli ladorigano (rabbit with olive oil and oregano), one of their special dishes.”

On Dafni Beach, which falls within marine park boundaries, family-run old-school tavernas like Porto Mela are run on generators as electricity isn’t permitted. Kandilas recommends the in-house bread baked in a wood-fired oven and served with olive oil from the owner’s grove, tomato, and garlic. Stifado, a hearty rabbit stew made with onions, and ladotiri, a slightly spicy native cheese made with sheep and goat milk and matured in local olive oil, is a must-try, he added.

Right on the port in Zakynthos Town, Varkarola is not simply a taverna beloved of locals and visitors alike but “one of the last remaining families keeping Zakynthos’ Venetian kantada (serenade) tradition alive,” Kandilas said. Immerse yourself in the heartfelt song, accompanied by mandolin and acoustic guitar, as you dine on house specials, veal sofrito, and slow-roasted beer-marinated pork shank.

Zakynthos’ warm-weather season runs from April to October, with July and August proving the busiest and hottest months of the year. In August, boat trips, restaurants, and even sun loungers on the beach need to be booked ahead, Kladis said. Toward the end of the month, a feast day celebrating the island’s patron saint can cause traffic jams on the roads leading into Zakynthos Town. Kladis recommended visiting in early June or in September. “It’s not over-crowded, it’s still warm, and there are just enough people to bring the island to life,” said Kladis. “You can see and experience everything you’d like to without having to book a week in advance.”

The quickest way to reach Zakynthos is by plane. Flights from Athens International Airport (Eleftherios Venizelos) to the island take about 60 minutes and operate daily. From the mainland, ferries depart from Kyllini port in the northwestern Peloponnese four times a day in summer and take one hour and 15 minutes. Zakynthos features on cruise line itineraries, including those of Atlas Ocean Voyages, Norwegian, and Azamara.

Zakynthos Town

Spend a day in the capital, Zakynthos Town. “Start at Zakynthos port, where you can see yachts in the harbor,” Kandilas said. Marvel at the grandeur of Agios Dionysios Church and its bell tower. Dedicated to the island’s patron saint, its Catholic architectural style contrasts with the Orthodox domed style. “Then head to Solomos Square to view the statue of poet Dionysios Solomos, who composed Greece’s national anthem. On Agios Markos Square, visit the museum dedicated to him and other eminent Zakynthians,” Kandilas said. Pore over portraits, photographs, and period furniture. Also, head to the Venetian castle ruins atop Bohali Hill for panoramic sea views.

Northern Zakynthos

Kladis recommended venturing to the island’s north by car or boat. “There are some villas and houses and a few traditional preserved buildings, but, mostly, it’s very natural,” she said. “The beaches are rockier than in the south, and the waters are deep and blue. It’s just so calming and picturesque.”

Southern Zakynthos

Heading south, you’ll encounter warmer seas and sandy beaches that shelve gradually, making them more kid-friendly. Vassilikos is home to some of the island’s best beaches, according to Kandilas. Sweeping Laganas Bay, a popular swim spot, forms part of the strictly-regulated National Marine Park of Zakynthos . This protected area is home to over 300 fauna species, including loggerhead sea turtles and Mediterranean monk seals, and more than 170 types of marine flora.

Heading inland from the southeastern seaside resort of Argassi, an essential lookout during Venetian rule, you’ll find one of Zakynthos’ two domed churches. Stroll around the ruins of the 15th-century stone-built Panagia Skopiotissa Monastery built on an ancient temple dedicated to goddess Artemis and take in Ionian views from atop Skopos mountain. Closer to the town is the 16th-century Domeneghini Tower , which is closely associated with Greece’s 1821 War of Independence.

By Rental Car: Book a rental car in advance, particularly if visiting during summer. “It’s safest to travel by car. In summer, it’s hot, and distances are long, so you want to be comfortable,” said Kandilas.

By Taxi: Between May and October, silver taxis operate 24 hours a day on the island. Cab ranks operate at the airport, Zakynthos Town, and the port and in popular resort areas on the eastern and southern coasts. They may cost more if booked in advance or via a hotel. There are fixed fares for numerous routes. It costs around 15 euros to reach Zakynthos Town from the airport.

Ogunquit, Maine

If you don’t want to venture out of North America, this New England town in Maine offers a peaceful charm. Home to miles of scenic sandy beaches, sprawling rocky cliffs, and tree-lined streets, Ogunquit is a vacation spot on the southern coast of Maine. If you're looking for a place to stay, The Dunes on the Waterfront is set to re-open with a complete renovation for the 2024 summer season. The property features 36 cozy accommodations set on 12 acres of oceanfront lawns, including vintage New England whitewashed cottages spaced apart for ultimate privacy, and a two-story hotel-style building, all complete with outdoor sitting areas. And if you'd like to make the vacation into a road trip, after visiting Ogunquit, venture south for stops in Boston or Newport, RI.

U.S. National Parks

National parks continue to be popular domestic travel destinations and demand is increasing, said Kelly Connor, an AAA travel adviser in Marlton, New Jersey. “The National Park Service reported 325.5 million recreation visits to 400 national parks in 2023,” Connor stated. “The increase in visitors signals a return to more typical vacation travel post-pandemic, as travelers take in the beauty of national parks and enjoy the great outdoors.”

Popular national parks include Grand Canyon National Park (AZ), Yosemite National Park (CA), Yellowstone National Park (ID, MT, WY), Great Smoky Mountains National Park (NC, TN), and George Washington Memorial Park (DC, MD, VA).

Cruises to Alaska

According to Colleen McDaniel, spokesperson with Cruise Critic, Alaska is a hot ticket this spring and summer season. "We're continuing to see growth in interest around cruises to Alaska, particularly as more lines than ever sail the region,” she said. “And because we're seeing such immense demand, the Alaska cruise season is starting earlier and ending later, as cruise lines add sailings to accommodate the interest.”

Cruise lines are making it easier than ever to visit Alaska exactly how you'd like—whether that's on a larger, mainstream ship where kids will be entertained from dawn 'til dusk and entertainment options onboard are plentiful, or a smaller more luxury line, where you can explore the Last Frontier by day, and return to a five-star quality experience onboard in the evening, McDaniel says. “And you can still travel to the region by more rugged, expedition ships, if that's your style, too,” she indicated.

A trip to Alaska "can be a romantic trip, a family trip, a group trip or an adventure of a lifetime," McDaniel says. For a luxury experience, consider Crystal Cruises to experience Alaska : "The Crystal brand is returning to Alaska for the first time since 2019, and it’s offering a number of seven-night itineraries from Vancouver to Seward, or vice-versa," she adds. “These itineraries visit some of the biggest favorites in the area, including Sitka and Juneau, and also offer scenic sailing.”

Whether you’re a fan of the Netlfix series The Crown , or prefer to follow the present-day British Royals, London is a great trip idea for 2024. Several East Coast hubs offer direct flights and with some flexibility in your travel dates you can snag favorable airline fares. “London, typically among the top European destinations for U.S. travelers, is an attractive option,” Connor says, also noting how the city is easy to navigate using public transportation, and boasts history, art, royalty, afternoon tea, and traditional fish and chips. “Must sees include the Tower of London and Tower Bridge, Big Ben, Thames River, London Eye, Borough Market, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, and Trafalgar Square,” she adds.

To streamline your visit, consider purchasing the London Pass by Go City ; and book tours through respected local tour operators, like Evan Evans . For lodging, check out the boutique hotel The Londoner , a stylish retreat set in the heart of the of Leicester Square, which makes for an ideal home base for your London trip.

The Greek Islands

Social-media posts entice visitors across the globe to see the enchanting Greek Islands, which offer temperate climate, leisure, and recreational pursuits on both land and sea, and culinary immersions that are hard to beat. “Our travelers love visiting Greece in the spring and summer months to discover the ancient ruins in Athens, soak up some sun in Mykonos and, of course, indulge in delicious bites in Santorini,” says Adam Armstrong, CEO at Contiki.com . “From the rich culture to the picturesque blue waters and ancient streets, it’s an ideal destination for a group of friends looking to explore charming villages and lounge on white sand beaches by day and dance at lively tavernas at night.” Plus, as one of the more affordable European countries, he says many travelers will choose to visit for a graduation or birthday trip. “And Contiki’s Greek Island Hopping itinerary makes it easy for travelers to visit multiple islands on one trip,” Armstrong adds.

Marvel at the Northern Lights

According to a recent survey conducted by Expedia, nearly half of Americans are interested in a bucket-list trip to chase the Northern Lights this year. Christie Hudson, Expedia’s spokesperson said this is due to visibility being particularly strong in the next 12-18 months.  According to Hudson, these are the destinations seeing some of the biggest interest based on Expedia flight searches: Lapland in Finland (+370%); Canada’s Churchill (+110%); and Alta in Norway (+100%).

Quebec City

This enchanting city provides visitors the appeal of a European vibe without a transatlantic flight. According to Hudson, Quebec City searches are up 75% year over year and it's just a quick two hour flight from the East Coast. The city offers culinary delights, history and a thriving arts scene. After a day of sightseeing and enjoying your foodie experiences, settle in at the beautiful Fairmont Le Château Frontenac for a luxury stay.

Hudson says one of the destinations that continue to see momentum ever since borders reopened is Tokyo. “Los Angeles to Tokyo was one of the fastest growing routes last year based on Expedia flight data, with demand up 430% year-over-year,” she continued. “Japan is a true year-round destination, with cherry blossoms blooming in the spring and ski resorts beckoning in the winter months.” To plan the best trip, it’s best to choose a tour operator or experienced travel agent who can help create the itinerary of your dreams.
