Where are you located?

Where do i park, what about bad weather, can we bring our own alcohol, are guests required to wear life jackets, is there a restroom on the boat, what is the unlimited drink wristband, how do i pay for drinks on board if i don't have a wristband, can i host a private party on the boat.

It is best to reserve as early as possible, as last minute bookings are hard to get. We suggest a few days ahead of time. Walk-ups are welcome if you want to leave your adventure to chance of available space on one of our day trips.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do we need a reservation? We highly suggest reserving a cruise well in advance of your desired cruise date. During our busy season(s) we sell out most of our cruises two to three days in advance, if not more. We recommend booking your cruise early in your trip. If weather should cancel your cruise you would be able to rebook prior to leaving the Clearwater Beach area. Book future cruises online here. Book same day cruises only by phone at 727-446-2587 after 10AM most days and after 9AM on days that have 10AM cruises.

What time should we arrive? We recommend arriving at the parking lot 1-hour before your cruise. This will allow time for traffic, parking, and paying for your tickets.  Your cruise will not be guaranteed if you arrive less than 20 minutes before your scheduled departure.

Do you offer any discounts?  We do not have any discounts available for our cruises. We keep our cruises as low cost as possible for everyone. 

Is this cruise for kids/what age range is this cruise for? Our cruises are for all ages. We have entertainment for kids 2 and up and adults can enjoy the festivities as well. We believe it is a full family entertainment cruise. Kids entertainment includes water gun battles, treasure hunts, face painting, pirate games, and more. 

What does the cruise entail and how long is the cruise?  All of our public cruises are exactly the same and include complimentary lemonade, punch, beer and wine, water gun battles, treasure hunts, face painting, pirate stories, fire the cannon and Captain Memo’s Dance Party, . All public cruises are 2-hours in duration (weather permitting). 

What is the best way to contact Captain Memo”s? Phone: We can be reached via phone from 10AM until the last cruise goes out each day at 727-446-2587 Email: We can be reached via email at [email protected] which we check every few hours.

  How does parking work?  The Municipal Marina Parking lot located at 25 Causeway Blvd., Clearwater Beach, FL 33767 is a pay per plate lot with parking paid by the hour at kiosks in the lot at the rate of $1 per hour.

When we confirm your reservation you will receive a 4-digit parking code. You will need this code to park for more than 30-minutes in this parking lot.  The CODE button is on the very first screen on the parking kiosks and should be pressed, then enter the code you received, follow the prompts from there!

Do not use the mobile parking app as the code does not work in the app!

Do you have have food on the cruise? We do have “emergency” snacks on the boat for sale, but we do not have any “meal” type food.  Chips and snacks can be purchased from our bar.

Do you allow dogs on the boat? Our boat is no place for dogs.  We love dogs, but the metal deck and lack of water or areas to relieve itself all make for a very uncomfortable trip for a dog.  In addition, we have several very loud noises including the ship horn and the cannon that are hard on human ears and potential dangerous to dogs ears.   For those reasons, and others we do not allow dogs of any kind on our boat. 

Do you allow wheelchairs or strollers on the boat?  Unfortunately, getting on and off the boat as well as getting around the boat can be difficult for wheelchairs and strollers.  There is seating on all decks on our boat.  We have storage for those on our dock while you are on the cruise.

The Pirate’s Ransom was custom designed and built to U.S. Coast Guard requirements for the owners in 1993.

Cleanliness and order are among the top priorities of our crew which extends to all facilities. A professional quality surround system throughout the boat plays a wide variety of tunes.

Our spirited crew of pirates are individually selected by Captain Memo himself. They are chosen not only for their enthusiastic personalities and immeasurable politeness, but also for their knowledgeable seamanship abilities. Captain Memo

June 5, 1948 – October 13, 2009

Captain Memo and his wife Panama Pam sailed to Florida from California in a 30 ft. sailboat via the Panama Canal.

In an earlier life he used to be known as Bill Wozencraft, a Prudential Life Insurance Agent. His wife, Pam, had been a teacher for the Hearing Impaired.

After getting up each morning knowing he had to put on a suit and tie just to go out in the world and get rejected by 95 people a day, he knew there must be a better way to exist on this planet other than selling life insurance. Never in his wildest dreams did he imagine that would be pillaging and plundering as a pirate on Clearwater Beach.

The initial goal they set was to sail to the Caribbean within a year. It actually took two and a half years, and they ran out of money along the way.

Everyone on the boat was amazing and the food tasted great! Worth going again. It is not fancy, it's more outdoorsy island. The ambiance is party.

It's such a fun idea to take visitors or try for yourself when in the area--a cruise with the most bang for your buck! They offer an all-you-can-eat and all-you-can-drink deal, with a decent selection of food and drinks to enjoy. With a DJ on board, you can dance the night away against the backdrop of a beautiful sunset. It's a perfect way to make unforgettable memories on the water! Everyone on board the boat is so incredibly nice making this the best experience!

Rooftop Boat

Well this was a first for the wife and I, as we spent our 9th anniversary and 4th of July on the Calypso Queen. Overall it was fun and something different. Service was very kind and kept our rum punch cups filled up. Captain called out everyone on the ship that was celebrating a Birthday or anniversary and some fun live music to lighten to mood. The food was a little bit of a let down, mainly the chicken and beef. The Chicken was extremely fatty. My wife absolutely hates fat on chicken but I normally don't mind a little, but this was just pure fat and greasy. The beef was very tough and was very over cooked. Really the only thing that was good was the shrimp and sides. After Dinner we went up on the top deck to mingle and watch the sun go down. It was nice and calming. When it got dark the fireworks started coming from all directions. I hope the get better quality food next time. But I do want to try the sister ships sometime.

A Clearwater classic! I joined my sis and BIL to celebrate his birthday for a dinner and boat ride. They had a Groupon deal while I used the website to purchase my ticket. Shortly after going on the boat you find your party name on the table and enjoy a glass of wine, rum punch, or beer. I tried a sip of the rum punch and it was too sweet for my liking. While docked is the time to enjoy the buffet. There's rolls/butter, salad, rice and beans, assortment of protein. Something in the dish made my stomach feel off the next day but couldn't tell what. The open bar is dangerously delightful so tread with care lol the white wine of choice they had was Chardonnay which was pretty tasty. The Calypso Queen makes her way around the harbor area to admire the skyline and stars while jamming to some music. Overall had a quirky, splendid time on this Calypso cruise.

The food was good with a good variety. The boat ride was nice but there wasn't much of a view. We did see a couple dolphins. The DJ probably should be replaced. He played 70's and 80's music. It was worth the money.

The bathrooms are clean and spacious enough to change baby diapers. This is my 2nd time on this cruise. $45 for 2 hours on the ocean, a lunch buffet, and all the beer you can drink! I did not eat $45 worth of food, but I drank 5 beers. Recently, they added a list of which foods are vegetarian, glucose-free, and dairy-free. This is great because I can eat more items now. (see photo) The best thing about the Calypso Queen is meeting foreigners and making connections with them. Yes, there is free booze and a yummy buffet; but the crowd is the most fun. I have been on several cruises since I am a townee, but this is my favorite. - Course 1 is Dramamine. - Course 2 is beer. - Course 3 is fish. - Courses 4 & 5 are most beer. - Course 6 is chocolate mousse cake. I whole-heartedly recommend this cruise!

This was super fun and different! We loved that it was a few hours long and all-you-can-eat. They were pretty organized and we loved the views (saw lots of dolphins and fireworks for 4th of July). The drinks were okay, they were better towards the end of the night (harder pours). My only qualm was the chicken & beef (according to Hubby) was super fatty and practically not edible... The shrimp and sides were really good though. Just whoever cooked the chicken did not do a good job. Overall though, everything was pretty good minus the meat. People were super friendly, dancing and having a lot of fun!

If you're looking for a fun tropical casual dinner cruise, this is the one. A DJ is on the cruise to provide music. They music was a bit corny. They played the The Loveboat theme song and the Gilligan's Island theme song. They offer a buffet style dining experience. They had mango glazed chicken, beef teriyaki, salads, sides, and chilled steamed shrimp. They offered free beer, wine, soft drinks, and rum punch. We cruised around the intercostal but never went into the Gulf sadly. It was fun but probably wouldn't go again.

A great touristy time. Came with a group of almost 60 people. The boat was ready for us, with plenty of reserved tables and lots of food and drinks. The DJ was ready to give us all a great time and didn't disappoint. Even the teen boys were on that dance floor. Guests were able to go to the top floor if they didn't want to sing and dance. You could still hear the music but less intensely. We were on a later cruise but the view was still impressive.

Fun boat ! I enjoyed this with my family that was in from Virginia . Buffet style & unlimited drinks . The rum was a good sell but tasted kinda watered down . Not sure what kind of juice they used . You also have the options of getting beer & wine too ! I'm a bit skeptical of buffets since Covid but ehhh they kept the line pretty fresh . Accessibility Details

We strive to make sure all passengers can access our vessel but our amenities are limited. All standard wheelchairs fit our ramp to come on board, but wheelchairs larger than 22 inches wide do not fit our door into the covered cabin of the boat. However, passengers in wheelchairs can enjoy our tours from the uncovered bow of our boat, which provides a great view of the pods of dolphins spotted by our crew, as well as the beautiful sunset. If boarding assistance is needed, please ask our crew. For the safety of all, kindly note that our employees are not permitted to lift strollers, wheelchairs or any other mobility equipment.

Cancellation

All Sales are final and the normal check in of 45 minutes prior to boarding time still applies. Please review our parking information page for details about parking and alternative modes of getting to us. You can cancel up to 48 hours in advance with no penalty. No refunds are available for cancellations made within 48 hours. Reschedules within 48 may have rescheduling fees. Tours rescheduled by patrons are subject to rescheduling fees. Tours that need to be rescheduled due to not meeting passenger minimums or weather are not subject to a rescheduling fee.

Kids On Board

We love when families join us on board, and ask that parents/accompanying adults keep a close eye on the children they are responsible for. Our rules will be announced upon departure, and include No Running, No Standing on the Benches, and No Littering on Board. Our crew members have very important responsibilities and tasks to complete to keep all passengers safe, and cannot be expected to monitor children's behaviors as well.

Outside Food & Drink

We do not allow outside food or drink on board our vessel. We have a premium bar on board for drink purchases. Although we do not have a kitchen on board, we also have bagged snacks available for purchase to hold you over until your next meal. Passengers are not allowed to bring takeaway food containers, refillable bottles or coolers and will be asked to leave them on the dock until the cruise returns.

Guaranteed Dolphin Sighting Policy

We offer 100% guaranteed dolphin sightings on all our regular Dolphin Exploration Tours. Our guarantee means in the unlikely event the many wild dolphins in the area are not out to play, we invite you to return at a later date on us. This guarantee does not include a refund of any kind as your complimentary Dolphin Exploration Tour in the future never expires.

Hold Harmless

All guests give up their right to sue The Tropics Boat Tours and agree to hold The Tropics Boat Tours harmless from any and all liability for personal injury, property damage or wrongful death caused by negligence or gross negligence. Guests assume all risks in connection with the commercial boating activity of The Tropics Boat Tours.

• Chevron down Are you similar to pontoon boats claiming to be a tiki boat?​

No, our octagon shaped floating tiki bars are the only authentic tiki boat in Clearwater. Our small tikis offer a much different and a one-of-a-kind experience compared to overcrowded pontoon boats claiming to be a tiki boat because they have added a thatch roof. Don’t sell yourself short and do the real thing!

• Chevron down Are you still cruising during Red Tide and the seaweed bloom?

Yes, Red Tide and the seaweed bloom has not affected any of our cruises and has not resulted in any cancellations.

• Chevron down Are there available life jackets on board?

​Yes, there is a type 1 PFD for every passenger. Along with all the coast guard requirements for the vessel including a first aid kit.

• Chevron down Can more than 6 people cruise at the same time?

The US Coast Guard regulations for our tiki boats is 6 people plus crew…. this includes children… For larger groups, please call us. We can accommodate groups up to 24 people!

Yes, all routes are subject to change due to weather or current conditions, USCG restrictions or captains’ discretion. Our primary goal is to keep everyone safe while having a great time!

• Chevron down Are children allowed?

YES children six and older are allowed. We don’t want them to miss out cruisin’ on the tiki boat. Children under the age of 10 are required to wear a life jacket which we have on board or you can bring your own (recommended). Please let us know if you plan to bring children so that we can make the appropriate accommodations for life jackets. We recommend booking a private cruise if you have kids under 12 to ensure a family-friendly cruise.

​The tiki boat has a cruising speed at around 5 mph.

• Chevron down What are your cancellation and inclement weather policies?

Bookings are fully refundable if cancelled 48 hours prior to reservation. We reserve the right to cancel any tour at any time due to weather, safety, mechanical or behavioral issues. If your tour is canceled, you will be given a rain check to re-book at another time (this excludes behavioral related cancellations which will not be refunded). For weather related issues, we may “wait out” a brief shower, reschedule for another day during your stay, or refund if unable to reschedule. “NO SHOWS” will not be refunded or rescheduled!

• Chevron down Do your boats operate in the rain?

We do operate in the rain as the tiki boats have a roof. However, the captain can decide at anytime to cancel due to conditions (typically high winds or thunder storms). If you are unable to reschedule and still want to go on one of our cruises, the captains may under certain conditions go out to cruise in calmer water which is protected by islands or mangroves.

​Our Captains do work for tips, so gratuity is greatly appreciated. We suggest a 20% gratuity for our captains… they are very experienced, knowledgeable, and work hard to ensure your safety and to provide an amazing tiki experience for our guests!

90 Minutes to 120 Minutes depending on the tour chosen. Most tours can be extended during booking. For special events or custom tours, please call and we can discuss your options.

• Chevron down What can the tiki boat be used for?

Besides relaxing with a cold drink we can pretty much book anything you can imagine. From bachelorette and bachelor party’s, corporate meetings, birthday party’s, weddings… you name it and we will try to make it work. Give us a call for special requests or large group (over 6 persons) reservations

• Chevron down Can I play my own music on board?

​Yes, we have island music playing, or connect your music to our bluetooth Kicker speaker system and play your choice of music.

• Chevron down ​Do you provide food and drink?

No, guests are permitted to bring their favorite drinks, alcohol and food onboard. We provide a big yeti cooler and plenty of ice. Alcohol and food can be purchased at the marina.

• Chevron down How old do you have to be to go on a tiki cruise?

Guests must be 6 years old or older to cruise on the tiki boat.

• Chevron down What about restrooms?

Our tikis are not equipped with restrooms, so we encourage guests to use the restroom before leaving the dock. We can stop at a bar or sandbar if a pit stop is needed.
