Port Benoa cruise ship schedule shows timetable calendars of all arrival and departure dates by month. The port's schedule lists all ships (in links) with cruises going to or leaving from Benoa, Bali Indonesia. To see the full itineraries (ports of call dates and arrival / departure times) and their lowest rates – just follow the corresponding ship-link.
Tanjung Benoa cruise port is the main port on Bali Island, Indonesia. It is located close to popular places like Nusa Dua, Sanur, Kuta, Denpasar.
Denpasar airport is only 12 km (7,5 mi) away from the cruise port and there are a lot of good hotels in the area. Bali is a great resort vacation destination with a huge variety of city tours and shore excursions. The cruise ship schedule offers attractive voyages. The most attractive cruises in the itinerary are during the Nyepi Day (the Silent Day corresponding to the New Year in Bali) in March.
In 2017 started construction works of Port Benoa's new cruise terminal (read more in the "terminal" section below). The decision for the port development project was based on the booming East Asia-Australia travel market, with over 3 million cruise ship tourists booked in 2017. Of those, due to lack of modern and big-capacity facilities, Indonesia received only ~200,000 foreign tourists.
With the new Benoa Cruise Terminal, Indonesia hopes to increase its cruise ship tourism capacity up to 0,5 million passengers by the year 2019. Apart from Port Benoa, Indonesia also started developing the Makassar ports Belawan , Tanjung Priok, Tanjung Perak, and Soekarno-Hatta.
In December 2017, Genting's new luxury brand Dream Cruises added the Indonesian ports Surabaya (Java) and Celukan Bawang (Bali) to the Genting Dream ship's regularly scheduled 7-night roundtrip Singapore itinerary program.
In March 2018, the state-owned port operator company Pelindo 3 contracted the Holland-based company Van Oord (specializing in dredging, marine engineering, offshore projects) to carry out dredging works in Port Benoa. By deepening the port's access channel and turning basin, port access will be improved, allowing bigger vessels to enter and berth safely. For the dredging works, Van Oord deployed a large cutter suction dredger (equipped with a rotating cutter head) to dredge a total of 5 million m3 of seabed material.
Benoa cruise terminal
Benoa Cruise Terminal (BCT) hosts passenger ships of all sizes. There is a good anchor holding in the sea bed. Among the cruise lines with ships docking at the main cruise ship terminal are Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Princess, P&O Australia, Cunard, Costa. Legend of the Seas (Marella Discovery 2) was the first large vessel to dock at BCT.
- Tanjung Benoa port is accessed by 2-miles long channel and has two berths.
- The East Berth is the main one. In front of it, there is a modern cruise terminal building with a lot of facilities. Its length is 290 m the depth is -11 m 00 LWS.
- Tanah Ampo International Port (just like Benoa Port) is located in the Bali Island's southern part. Another port is called Celukan Bawang Port - in the island's northern part.
The South Berth is an alternative one. It has a -7 m 00 LWS depth and it is 206 m long. At the Bali Cruise Port Terminal, the passengers can sense the authentic atmosphere because of the Balinese culture and art demonstrations. There are sculptures, paintings, batik paintings, and woodcarvings.
As a part of the Master Plan, the Bali Cruise Terminal is constantly upgraded.
(new) Benoa-Bali Cruise Ship Terminal
On August 1, 2017, Benoa Port Authority announced plans for building a new cruise terminal facility. Construction works started in September 2017, with scheduled completion in December 2018. The project was assigned to the state-owned port management company PT Pelabuhan Indonesia III (aka Pelindo 3) specializing in port terminal operator services.
The new cruise port terminal has the capacity to handle even the world's largest passenger vessels (with capacity up to 5000 passengers plus 1500 crew). Apart from the new passenger terminal, there are plans for the development of Celukan Bawang Port (northern Bali). This project was scheduled for the period of December 2017 - March 2018. After its completion, the cruise port's capacity was increased to 7 cruise liners berthing simultaneously, each ship with capacity up to 1000 passengers. Celukan Bawang Port provides easy access for tourists-serving vehicles.
At the new Benoa-Bali terminal, cruise vessel docking fees were reduced by 50%. The Benoa Master Plan (port development project) also included dredging to max draft 12 m (40 ft) and enlarging the berth to 200 m (656 ft).
Bali is a large island and a famous Indonesian resort. This place is amazing with its sunny beaches, beautiful tropical forests, and volcanic mountains. It offers terraced rice fields and thousands of great temples. The Bali Cruise Terminal is located close to famous attractions and places for fun activities like water sport or haggling for bargains. Bali has survived two bombing accidents and has revived in an amazing place for a great vacation. The tour operators offer interesting activities like surfing, playing golf, workshops attending and watching Balinese dance performances in the evenings. Also, you can visit interesting places like:
- Kuta Beach: Bali’s most developed and most popular beach. You can see a memorial to the 2002 bombing victims. There are a lot of surf shops, cafes (including Hard Rock Cafe) and several not so big shopping malls.
- Ubud: Bali’s cultural center. Take a tour at museums and temples, you can also visit a monkey sanctuary.
- Sanur: resort town near the beach.
- Denpasar: Bali’s capital, the biggest city on the island. Good for shopping and temples’ tour.
- Nusa Dua (Tanjung Benoa): resort area with a public beach located at Geger. The area is across the harbor from Bali Cruise Port.
- Seminyak: located north from Kuta, a high-class resort with SPA and boutiques.

Cruises from/to Benoa (Bali), Indonesia
Benoa (bali), indonesia cruise port.
- A popular area beach is Kuta Beach (which can get crowded). Here you can swim, surf, and parasail, and Bali is a fantastic place for diving. The beer is relatively cheap, and the sunset here is especially spectacular.
- Also in Kuta is the Bali Bomb Memorial, located where old Paddy's Bar used to be. This is a tribute to the 202 people who perished during the Kuta bombings in 2002 and a place for reflection; don't be surprised if a local politely requests you to pay your respects.
- One of the best temples in the area is in Pecatu. In case Uluwatu Temple (Pura Uluwatu) on its own weren't spectacular enough, its location will take your breath away. You can walk the temple grounds at any time, but may be restricted from entering the central courts during certain periods. Keep an eye out for thieving monkeys; you may also have to dress in a sarong and sash to enter the temple, which larger facilities will happily rent to you.
- For another excellent beach, head to Jimbaran Bay with its fine, white sands and calm waters. It's the place to go if you're looking for a quieter experience than in Kuta.

In Indonesia eating with your hand (instead of utensils like forks and spoons) is very common. The basic idea is to use four fingers to pack a little ball of rice, which can then be dipped into sauces before you pop it in your mouth by pushing it with your thumb. There's one basic rule of etiquette to observe: Use only your right hand, as the left hand is used to clean yourself in the bathroom. Don't stick either hand into communal serving dishes: instead, use the left hand to serve yourself with utensils and then dig in. Needless to say, it's wise to wash your hands well before and after eating. Eating by hand is frowned on in some "classier" places. If you are provided with cutlery and nobody else around you seems to be doing it, then take the hint.
ATMs are common in any major cities in Indonesia.
Be careful when using credit cards, as cloning and fraud are a major problem in Indonesia. Visa and Mastercard are widely accepted, but American Express can be problematic. At smaller operations, surcharges of 2-5% over cash are common.

Benoa is a popular spot for windsurfing. Small boats for sailing are also available for rent, allowing travelers to sail at their leisure around the picturesque port. Bali’s Benoa Cruise Port Ready by Mid-2023
The State News Agency Antara quotes Boy Robyanto, the PT Pelabuhan Indonesia III CEO, saying that the development of the Bali Port of Benoa as a marine tourism hub will be completed by mid-2023.
In a press release made available on 11 September 2021, Boy confirmed the fifth of a sixteen packet development plan was now in hand.
The dredging of shipping channels and harbor basins was the first phase of the port development and was completed in 2019. “The dredging of channels and the harbor basin has been upgraded from 8-meter low water spring (MLWS) to a new depth of minus 12 MLWS – meaning a cruise ship measuring 350 meters in length can now berth at the pier of the Port of Benoa,” said Robyanto.
Meanwhile, the international passenger terminal has been expanded in size from 1,500 square meters with a capacity for 800 passengers to its new size of 5,600 square meters able to handle 3,000 passengers.
PT Pelabuhan Indonesia is also creating facilities to support visiting yachts.
“Work is currently underway to improve the basic infrastructure at the Port’s public facilities. A shopping area for small and medium-sized enterprises within the passenger terminal is 82 percent complete,” said Robyanto. He continued, explaining that the Benoa Marine Tourism Hub (BMTH) concept is putting local genius to the fore in an environmentally conducive manner using Balinese decorative and architectural elements.
Separately, Bali’s Governor Wayan Koster has praised the ongoing development of the BMTH and its embrace of Bali’s culture and innate creativity. Adding: “Tourists arriving via the Port of Benoa must feel they are truly in Bali from the moment of the ship’s arrival. This is important as Bali has very strong cultural values.”
The Governor emphasized the importance of making sure the Port of Benoa results is a facility beneficial to every level of society, including small and medium-sized entrepreneurs. “The people have a right to obtain a benefit from the Port of Benoa. They must be involved. Prepare a place for them within the Port so that when the pandemic is over, they will also advance together with the return of cruise ships to the Island of Bali,” said the Governor.

Bali in Indonesia is one of the most fascinating destinations in the world, and it offers a wide range of sights and activities for everyone, from nature lovers to culture buffs, people looking for peace and tranquility, or on the contrary active vacations.

On the southeastern tip of the island, Nusa Dua attracts visitors with a host of five-star hotel and resorts, as well as golf courts, splendid beaches, and amazing spa and well-being centers.
The peninsula of Tanjung Benoa , north of Nusa Dua, is where the cruise port is located. This area offers numerous hotels and restaurants, but also thalasso establishments right by the sea, and beautiful strolling opportunities along the shores of the Indian Ocean. Kuta , undoubtedly the busiest and most popular spot in the region, attracts surfers and party-goers around Kuta Beach , but also offers good shopping opportunities. Denpasar , while a transport hub and capital, doesn’t offer much to tourists but could be a good idea for accommodation as well.
If it is culture you are looking for, then Ubud is for you. From local art to dance ceremonies, temples, museums and crafts shops, you’ll be in heaven. Ubud is home to many 5 star luxury hotels. Located in Ayung river valley, “Valley of the Kings” , these wonderful hotels offer splendid views of the river, coconut plantations and rice fields. I arrived in Bali via Oceania Cruises and spent 2 days there (an overnight port). Thought I'd share a few hints that might help someone else in their cruise stopover.
* The cruise port of Bali is small compared to other ports. There will be no large shopping areas etc. Dancers are usually awaiting you when a ship first arrives.
* Prior to arrival in Bali you will need to secure a "travel visa".
* When exiting the port from a ship you will need to show an electronic bar code. When you are on your ship you will be sent instructions on where you need to go online to complete the arrival questions and ultimately obtain the barcode. Once the barcode displays you will need to download it to your phone "file" or do a cut & paste of the barcode and send it to yourself via an email. (This is in addition to the previously mentioned "travel visa" that you secure and pay for before you leave home.). You are going to have to show this barcode to the agents each time you exit the port. You will also have your bags checked as you exit the port by the local government authorities.
* The taxi association of Bali will not allow ship-to-city shuttle type services. You either go on a ship sponsored tour, arrange for a private driver to meet you or negotiate a trip/price with one of the taxi drivers outside the port.
* Bali is very chaotic & congested with traffic. Whatever you think might be possible to see in a day based on a map is highly unlikely. You must factor in plenty of time for standstill traffic. There are also hundreds of scooters on the roads, as this is the primary transport means for most people. Scooters will drive fast and weave in and out of traffic. It is almost impossible to cross the road and I found that the driver I had hired needed to walk across roads with us in order to visit temples etc.
* The people of Bali are extremely kind and friendly.
* Hygiene will not be what you are used to in Westernized countries. Carry your own hand wash/sanitizers/toilet paper with you.
* Water is contaminated so you must drink bottled water or ensure whatever water is being used was throughly boiled. This includes prepared foods as well.
* Malaria is present. If you choose to not take anti-malarials ensure you are covered head to toe and spray with DEET. Dengue fever is also present so even if you do decide to take anti-malarials you should still use DEET, particularly if you are out at night or going into any wooded settings.
* I used a driver named Dewa Gede who I found online and had great reviews. When I reached out to him he was highly responsive. He will happily tailor whatever type of adventures you want. As it happened the two days I was there he was unavailable, but he organized and managed a driver for me by the name of Mr. Putu Will. Putu was an excellent driver and when we ran into some seriously bad traffic jams he suggested alternative places to visit. A very kind and considerate man who made our two days outstanding.
* If you are someone who is boarding a ship in Bali be aware that you may need to stand outside, in the sun and in a line for quite some time. Since we were traveling through Bali on a multi-day itinerary this did not apply to us, but I noticed the Celebrity Millennium ship next to us that had a full ship boarding day and the line outside the ship was extensive.
Enjoy your visit to Bali!

Construction to start on cruise ship terminal at Bali’s Benoa, completion hoped for 2018 IMF-World Bank meeting
Making way for literal boatloads of more tourists in Bali, the building of a cruise ship terminal at the island’s Benoa Port will begin in September, Indonesian officials announced last week.
The decision to start construction next month comes after a meeting lead by Coordinating Maritime Affairs Minister Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan on August 1.
The new cruise terminal will open up South Bali’s Benoa, which at the moment can only accommodate two cruise ships at a time, to mega cruise ships carrying up to 5,000 passengers and 1,500 crew members. Construction is slated for completion by the end of next year.
“The East Dock Pool will be 662 x 150 meters with the depth of 11 meters whilst the West Dock Pool will be 900 x 150 meters with the depth of four meters. The Cruise Ship Terminal will be able to manage 2,500 passengers on a single batch,” said Pelindo III president director Ari Ashkara, as quoted in a statement released by the Indonesian government.
PT Pelindo III is the state-owned port management company in charge of the new port’s construction.
Some cruise ships have been too big for Bali in the past because of Benoa’s shallow shipping lanes and have been forced to anchor at sea , about five kilometers out from the pier. So, a cruise port with a deepened navigation channel would allow bigger ships to get closer.
The construction of the cruise ship terminal is part of the government’s strategic master plan to develop Benoa into a hub port for cruise ships in Southeast Asia. The big hope is that Bali would become an arrival and departure point for cruise ships from around the world, with cruise operators setting up their home base in Bali. Rather than just a destination port as it is now, where tourists just get dropped off to explore the island then get back on the same ship and continue with their travels.
The government also has plans to develop Celukan Bawang Port in North Bali, to make the island’s less trodden north more accessible to the masses.
Celukan Bawang is apparently being prepared as a tourist boat stop and will be a stopover point for seven ships, carrying 1,000 passengers on average, from December 2017 to March 2018.
“Celukan Bawang Port has natural depth, so no dredging is required. Extensive land area there can also accommodate hundreds of vehicles that will bring tourists to different tourist attractions,” VIVA News quoted the chairman of the Maritime Tourism Acceleration Team, Indroyono Soesilo, as saying.
Tourism destinations in North Bali such as Lovina Beach, Beratan Lake, Bedugul Botanical Gardens, West Bali National Park, and Menjangan Island will also be publicized as Bali’s best destinations up north, while the government is still working on the possibility of developing further new destinations in the region.
Indonesian Tourism Minister Arief Yahya says there’s huge untapped potential for the country to develop its cruise ship industry. According to Yahya, over three million tourists travel via cruise ship in East Asia and Australia, but only 200,000 foreign tourists are stopping over in Indonesia on cruises.
“With the availability of this new (Benoa) terminal facility, it is hoped that the target of 500,000 foreign tourist arrivals from cruise ships for the year of 2019 can be achieved,” the minister said.
Yahya hopes the Benoa Port can be completed by the big IMF-World Bank meeting, held in Bali in October 2018.
“This is important because the whole world will be watching Bali.”
The meeting is a huge deal for the government and setting development project deadlines, with it expressing desire to complete two major long-awaited projects: an underpass in front of Bali’s airport and construction on a towering sculpture at Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park before the meeting.

Bali To Launch The Biggest Cruise Port In Indonesia

The central government has announced that Bali will have the biggest cruise port in Indonesia.
The State-Owned Enterprise Minister, Erick Tohir, confirmed that the central government would develop the Bali Maritime Tourism Hub (BMTH) to revive Bali’s economy.
The project will be located in the Benoa Port area in Southern Bali, where the government also plans to develop a yacht terminal, a cargo terminal, and a fishery zone.
Erick stated that once the development is completed, BMTH will help promote the creative economy of the island by displaying local products.
“We plan to allow only local goods such as food and handicrafts in the BMTH to give the local people an opportunity to thrive,” Erick said through a written announcement on Saturday (1/1).
This program is expected to start operations in 2023 as Indonesia’s center of maritime tourism. This will be in accordance with the Superhub Development Program initiated by the President.
It will allow the micro-economy and creative economic sector to create a new ecosystem for Bali as it’s expected to be the home port of international cruise ships.

As a tourism consultant my company has conducted several studies about cruise boat tourism all over the world. Overal conclusion: Cruise boat tourism costs far too much than it adds to the local economy! Especially for destinations which are already attracting a lot of tourism. Destinations with a well developed tourism infrastructure and a healthy tourism economy do not need this kind of tourism. It is often a prestige project! Although the cruise line company pays port fee at the destination they tend to buy fuel and all food and drinks on places where it is the cheapest. This happens almost never in the most popular destinations! The guests on board (up to 5000 people sometimes) spend no significant money on these destinations unless it is their embark or disembark port. In this latter case they book hotels, go to restaurants, take a taxi and use any entertainment. They tend to add an extra day before or after the cruise trip. However, the amount of people who embark or disembark the boat depends on the hub function of such a destination. Bali is NOT such a hub! The nearby Singapore is already such a hub. The tourists on board do not add any significant contribution to the economy besides the use of transport, buying cheap souvenirs and visiting local attractions. However, the social pressure caused on the destination by these tourists is huge. Examples are Venice, Amsterdam, Cannes, Dubrovnic, Mallorca etc. Local inhabitants are fighting against this kind of tourism. These destinations are suffering heavily from cruise tourism. It is suffocating the entire tourism business of a destination. Imagine: how long will you wait to enter an attraction when you see 3 busses loaded with seniors ahead of you? Briefly, cruise tourism is beautiful. It is nice to see such a huge luxury boat at your harbor. However, it costs so much more than you can imagine! Do you really need that Bali?

@Tuhami, Fantastic article telling the real facts about cruise boat tourism well done.
Two Faced? The Bali government was instrumental in the success of 'Tolak Reklamasi'. Yet here they are proposing development, which by looking at the proposed inclusions, could dwarf the previous plan.
The harbour mouth and approaches are totally unsuitable. It would need continual dredging to be maintained. The water flow patterns along Tanjung Benoa would severely affect the tourist beach development.
Like so many proposals due diligence seems to be based on 'build it and they will come' with no due diligence.
Paul Speirs
So as always the same area is going for the money. What about the new? terminal at tanahampoo that was built in 2010 and only used a few times but then the east coast is not on this government radar.

Great, then the ship’s could start to transport tourists from Bali to areas such Thailand, Tahiti, Bora Bora, Caribbean, Mediterranean …
Gregory Stegman
Do you get the feeling that the Government is trying to change the face of Bali by keeping it closed. The small shops and bars will disappear without international tourists and multinational hotels will take over.

The dredging of shipping channels and harbor basins was the first phase of the port development and was completed in 2019. "The dredging of channels and the harbor basin has been upgraded from 8-meter low water spring (MLWS) to a new depth of minus 12 MLWS - meaning a cruise ship measuring 350 meters in length can now berth at the pier of the Port of Benoa," said Robyanto.

Making way for literal boatloads of more tourists in Bali, the building of a cruise ship terminal at the island's Benoa Port will begin in September, Indonesian officials announced last week. The decision to start construction next month comes after a meeting lead by Coordinating Maritime Affairs Minister Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan on August 1.
