BACOLOD ITINERARY – DAY 2
8:00-8:30- GOING TO SILAY
Since you have already explored the southern part of Bacolod City, we can do a heritage tour on the second day of your visit to Bacolod City and Negros Occidental.
Silay City is known for its heritage houses and good food as well.
From your hotel take a taxi or jeepney to bring you to the South Terminal in Bata, Bacolod. From the terminal, take a jeepney going to Silay City and ask the driver to drop you to the Public Plaza.
8:30-9:30 – COFFEE AND VISIT TO SAN DIEGO PRO-CATHEDRAL
Right in front of the public plaza are typical old coffee shops (kapehan) selling nice coffee at very affordable prices. Silay is also known for their kakanin, so I’m sure these coffee shops have this kakanin. If you don’t like what they offer, you can walk a few meters to El Ideal, they open as early as 6:30 AM.
Within the area is the San Diego Pro-cathedral. If you are a Catholic you can pay a visit to this church.
Balay Negrense, one of the heritage houses in Silay City. This house is now a museum and is open for the public [ Bacolod Itinerary + Travel Guide | 3-Day Tour, Budget ]
9:30-11:00- SILAY CITY (HERITAGE TOUR)
After your church visit, drop by the Tourism Office (right in front of the City Hall) right within the plaza area and ask for guide maps for your walking tour.
Silay City is known as the Paris of Negros, wherein heritage houses owned by the sugar barons are still standing and well maintained. Some of these houses are open to the public while others are not. Of course it would be great to have a guide when doing a tour, however, if you are doing a DIY Tour, your map can already be a good help. If you are traveling alone, just hire a pedicab to bring you around. Of course, ask first for their price before hopping in.
11:00-12:00 MN -LUNCH AT BALARING
After the tour, you will surely want to feast on the food of Silay. So, I recommend that you visit Barangay Balaring.
To reach the place, ask the pedicab driver to bring you to the tricycle terminal going to Balaring. Balaring offers a wide array of seafood through its various floating restaurants.
Must Read: EAT IN SILAY: BARANGAY BALARING
12:00 – 1:30 PM – COFFEE AT EL IDEAL
After your lunch, take a tricycle to bring you back to the city proper. Just try to negotiate with the driver to bring you straight to El Ideal.
El Ideal is one old Bakery in Silay City offering various delicacies that are popular among the tourists.
1:30-3:00 PM BACK TO BACOLOD, NEGROS SHOWROOM
Just outside the El Ideal, wait for a jeepney going to Bacolod. They will drop you somewhere in Bata. From that place, take another jeepney going to Libertad or Shopping. Any of these jeepneys will pass by Robinsons Place, Bacolod City.
At Robinson Place, you will find the Negros Showroom. The Negros Showroom showcases the best of Negros products. Various handicrafts ranging from furniture, decors, gifts and housewares, souvenirs and much more are found at the Showroom. Since this is already your second day, it would be best that you already buy some souvenirs or “pasalubong” for people back home.
After souvenir hunting, I’m sure you are already quite hungry. By this time so you can proceed to your next destination and have your coffee or taste various cakes and pastries famous in Bacolod City.

From any of these coffee shops take the jeepney going to Libertad. The jeepney will pass by the Capitol Lagoon. From the Provincial Capitol Lagoon, you can walk to the Negros Museum. Just ask anyone around for directions.
After your visit at the Negros Museum, I’m sure you are already quite tired and might want to go back to your hotel for a quick rest or to freshen up or might want to have your early dinner.

Chicken Inasal [ Bacolod Itinerary + Travel Guide | 3-Day Tour, Budget ]
5:00-ONWARDS -DINNER
For your Bacolod Tour dinner, since you are already near Lacson Street, you can pick from a variety of restaurants along the area. Since you have already tried some seafood at Balaring, you might want to try this time the Chicken Inasal of Bacolod.
The nearest chicken inasal restaurant from Negros Museum is the Chicken Deli. The Chicken Deli is right in front of the Seda Hotel – now being constructed. You might also want to try the Manokan country near SM City.
If you want to try the Manokan Country, take the jeepney in front of the Museum going to the downtown area. Just ask anyone from the museum what jeepney to take. The moment you reach the public plaza. You can walk to the Manokan Country (just beside SM City) wherein you will see a row of eateries all serving chicken inasal . I recommend you try the Lion’s Park Chicken Inasal because it is more spacious. It’s the first in the row of these eateries. Apart from chicken inasal, they also serve oysters.
Do you still have the extra energy? Or wanted to see more of Bacolod? At the back of SM City, is the Pope John Paul Tower. The tower is a seven-story building dedicated to the late Pope John Paul II who visited this capital city on the 20th of February 1981. At the topmost level of the tower, you will see a beautiful view of the city. So If you are not yet that hungry, it would be best to visit this place first before having your dinner as it might be too dark already when you visit quite late.
The Ruins in Talisay City [ Bacolod Itinerary + Travel Guide | 3-Day Tour, Budget ]
BACOLOD ITINERARY – DAY 3
VISIT THE RUINS, GOING HOME
As the schedule of your flight back home is unknown to me, I recommend that you spend the remaining few hours you have in buying what you want to bring home.
Going to the airport may take around 45 minutes depending on the traffic, so it would be safe to allow 1 hour for the travel time.
Before going to the airport, you can pass by the Ruins. The Ruins is one iconic structure in Negros Occidental. Technically, the Ruins is located in the
The Ruins is one iconic structure in Negros Occidental. Technically, the Ruins is located in the City of Talisay. The reason why I placed this attraction in the last of your itinerary – simply because there are no jeepneys plying this place.
To visit the place take a taxi going to the airport but ask the driver to drop you first at The Ruins (and wait for you). Just add 1 hour more for your travel time to the Airport. Since cabs charged a flat rate of P500 in going to the airport, it would be wise to negotiate first with the driver on the additional amount it would cost you for letting the cab wait while you are checking the Ruins.
- THE RUINS, TAJ MAHAL OF NEGROS ISLAND
Is there a place that you wanted to visit or be included in this itinerary? Just drop me a message, I would be glad to help you in making your Bacolod, Negros Occidental visit a real – Happy Trip!

4 Sample BACOLOD & SIPALAY ITINERARIES: 3-5 Days
When we think of Negros Occidental, we think about Bacolod, its capital city. That can’t be helped, I guess. Bacolod has successfully made a name for itself as an attractive tourist destination. The Masskara Festival is one of the most well-known and most highly anticipated cultural events in the country. And don’t get us started with Bacolod’s influence to the Filipino culinary landscape. Bacolod and its neighboring cities, Talisay and Silay, have long been on the tourist map.
But the rest of the province also has a lot to offer to those who seek a sweet escape. Negros Occidental’s economy may be largely driven by sugar, but tourism is beginning to keep up too. Farther south of the province are hidden wonders like Danjugan Island, a protected area that you can visit on a day trip or an overnight stay.
Not far away from it is Sipalay City, a laid-back city devoid of skyscrapers and popular fast food chains. Interact with the locals at Poblacion Beach, just a few meters walk from the city center and the wet market. Taste the local food from the food stalls running parallel to the beach as you let the sunset embrace your weary mind and body. From the city center, you can start your beach hopping tour or stay in one of the resorts lining the coast of Sipalay.
From food tripping in Bacolod to nature tripping in Cauayan to laid-back beach hopping in Sipalay, you will thank yourself for choosing the province as the place to rejuvenate yourself. To help you with your trip, here are sample itineraries for you. Just choose what fits your budget and preference.
Please note that all these itineraries assume you’re a group of two and will be staying in a double/twin room and split the costs. Public transportation fares (jeepney, bus) are overestimated (rounded off).
Metro Bacolod Itinerary: 3 Days

Coron is a shanty town with significant poverty in evidence. the water was nit as clear as "advertised" and I did not see nay good coral or fish> I toured Coron Island on the best boat - Cinca Ninos - good boat - excellent food but the experience was otherwise ordinary. Barracuda Lake and Kananga Lake were particularly disapppointing. The Hotel - Corto del mar - was OK - food was good but eating out was a rather disappointing experience. I would not do this trip again Read more Written May 18, 2024

The guide wS also very passionate and knowledgeable about the fireflies and their habitat, the mangrove. He also assisted us with using our iPhone cameras without flash. Just be prepared for bugs, so put on bug spray before you get on the boat. This is very popular so we waited almost half an hour before it was our turn to get on our own boat. Saw so many fireflies! They were all pebble beaches with sharp coral and stones so they give you the chance to rent water shoes before you go which I highly recommend. There was snorkel equipment which we used to see some lovely fish , the coral is mostly dead tho. It was a pleasant day out, we booked at our hotel, Marion Roos, and they sorted everything, it was a reasonable price and nice to get away from the beach where we were staying for a day. Actually visited in March 2019 just prior to their update/refurb but we found it just perfect as it was. My husband and I enjoy spending a couple of weeks travelling around and then a final week enjoying luxury and that is exactly what we did at Club Tara. The staff were informative, welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. They were super friendly and treated us like friends whilst still maintaining a professional approach. The wildlife surrounding this lagoon is AMAZING!! We saw flying lemurs, huge fruit bats, a myriad of bird species, lizards and so much more. We truly were in our element. The accommodation was simple but beautiful and extremely clean. There was a jacuzzi at the front of the villa with stunning views over the lagoon. Club Tara was an amazing experience and we ended our trip to the Philippines knowing that we would return. Wonderful place with beautiful people. Thankyou club Tara. Read more Written April 19, 2024

Elon Musk Begs Tesla Shareholders to Vote for His $56 Billion Pay Package
He's willing to sweeten the deal., money, please.
Elon Musk wants to award himself with a boatload of money.
The pay package he's trying to push through at Tesla is valued at up to $56 billion in stock options — which would be more than any corporate CEO in the United States by an astounding margin .
But before that can happen, the automaker's shareholders need to give it their seal of approval. And so Musk is doing his best to get out the vote, offering shareholders the opportunity to win a tour of the Tesla Gigafactory in Austin, Texas, that's personally led by him and chief designer Franz von Holzhausen — a very glad-handing way of securing approval.
Technically, members don't actually need to vote in favor of Musk's package to enter, according to Tesla's website . Instead, they just need to prove they voted their shares. But clearly, Musk has offered the tour with a little wink, safe in the knowledge that it'll encourage his many ardent acolytes to turn out and approve the multi-billion dollar compensation.
Please let us know if you have any questions about voting your Tesla shares! https://t.co/SlKOo5umU0 — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) May 28, 2024
Yet, there's more at stake than Musk's share of the dough. Another significant item on the list for the upcoming shareholder meeting, set for June 13, is Tesla's plan to move its state of incorporation from Delaware to Texas.
Why? Again, the pay package. Musk's compensation was originally approved by Tesla shareholders in 2018, but ended up getting voided by a Delaware judge this January, who thought that Musk's ties with the board were too close and influential and that the sum was "unfathomable."
This enraged Musk.
"Never incorporate your company in the state of Delaware," he tweeted , following the decision — which is a little rich, since Delaware is one of the friendliest states to corporations in the country .
Master Plan
Even with the board's prior approval, the package is looking less like a sure thing this year, with Tesla suffering a horrendous financial quarter while failing to reach delivery and production goals. Musk himself isn't quite the beloved figure he was back then even among some shareholders — though on the other hand many at the company are terrified of losing him, a fact that he's seemingly tried to exploit in the past .
The plan also has its influential critics. Proxy-advisory firm Glass Lewis advised shareholders against the pay package — as it did in 2018 — warning that giving that much money to Musk could dilute existing shares in Tesla, The Wall Street Journal reported .
Assuming it does get approved, however, the compensation package will likely face legal challenges, which is why it's all the more pivotal — to Musk, anyway — that Tesla ditches Delaware for the Lone Star State.

Elon Musk offers factory tours in attempt to win record-breaking pay package
Elon Musk is trying a new approach to get his $56 billion pay package from Tesla approved: a charm offensive.
The CEO of the electric vehicle manufacturer is offering a guided tour of the company’s production lines for the Cybertruck and Model Y in Texas on June 12, the day before the company’s annual shareholders meeting.
Only 15 shareholders will be allowed on the tour, and to be considered, they will have had to cast a vote on Musk’s pay package, which was struck down by a Delaware judge over governance flaws. The company says how they voted on the matter does not affect their chances of taking the tour. Winners of the contest will also have a reserved seat at the stockholder meeting in June.
Musk will be joined by Franz von Holzhausen, who leads design for the company, and other executives in giving the tour.
The move is part of a major push by the company to increase shareholder support for Musk’s pay package. The company says passing it is essential to ensure Musk’s focus stays on Tesla, and notes he has not been paid for any of his work at the company over the past six years. Additionally, it argued, Musk has agreed to a five-year lock-up period for his stock, which the company hopes will be more than sufficient time for shares to gain ground.
Critics, though, say Musk’s attention is split between the automaker, SpaceX , and Twitter/X. Vehicle sales are down and the stock has slumped this year , even with layoffs. New York City Comptroller Brad Lander has lampooned the deal , saying “There’s rarely been as egregious a flaunting of independent shareholder governance as this.”
Musk owns 13% of Tesla. The additional stock in this proposed pay package would raise his potential ownership to 23% of the company. He had threatened previously to build AI products outside of Tesla if he does not get 25% of the company’s voting power, which could impact its self-driving technology.

Jane's Addiction 2024 tour brings classic lineup to Phoenix. How to get tickets
A fter reuniting for the first time in 14 years to perform an intimate show in London, the original members of Jane’s Addiction have announced a co-headlining tour with fellow alt-rock legends Love and Rockets, with a Phoenix concert at Arizona Financial Theatre on Thursday, Aug. 15, 2024.
Bassist Eric Avery, who quit Jane’s Addiction in 2010, rejoined the fold in 2022, but guitarist Dave Navarro had to miss the tour they did that year with Smashing Pumpkins due to long COVID-19.

Elon Musk offers Tesla investors factory tours to bolster $56B pay package votes
- Musk is offering factory tours to 15 shareholders who vote on his pay package.
- The tour to Tesla's production lines for Cybertrucks and Model Ys in Texas will take place on June 12.
- Musk has threatened to build artificial intelligence products outside of Tesla if he can't get 25% voting power at Tesla.
SAN FRANCISCO ‒ Elon Musk is offering factory tours to 15 Tesla shareholders who vote on his $56 billion pay package at the upcoming meeting, the latest effort by the electric vehicle maker to rally votes for the compensation after a court struck it down .
The upcoming vote is seen as a referendum for Musk's leadership at a time when investors worry that he is distracted by his other ventures and that his often controversial comments are weighing on the reputation and sales of Tesla.
The company is making an unusual and public effort to rally support for Musk's pay.
"Don't delay, vote today!" Tesla said on Tuesday.
The tour to Tesla's production lines for Cybertrucks and Model Ys in Texas will take place on June 12, the day before Tesla's annual shareholders' meeting, Tesla said on its website.
"Please let us know if you have any questions about voting your Tesla shares!" Musk said on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, which he owns.
Musk has threatened to build artificial intelligence products outside of Tesla if he can't get 25% voting power at Tesla, the world's most valuable automaker.
Musk, the world's richest person, currently owns around 13% of Tesla stock, and exercising his stock options would result in him owning a total of 22% of the company.
He has also started AI company xAI, which raised $6 billion in its latest funding .
Tesla has asked shareholders to reaffirm their approval of Musk's record-breaking $56 billion compensation that was set in 2018, but was rejected by a judge who found the package was negotiated by directors who appeared beholden to Musk.
The move came shortly after Musk said Tesla is laying off more than 10% of its global workforce amid falling sales and intensifying competition, especially from Chinese rivals.
Proxy advisory firm Glass Lewis said on Saturday it has urged Tesla shareholders to reject the pay package, citing Musk's "slate of extraordinarily time-consuming projects."
Is Elon Musk overpaid? Why a Delaware judge struck down Tesla CEO's $55 billion payday.
According to data and research firm S&P Global Market Intelligence, 44% of Tesla's common stock is held by nonprofessional shareholders that include retail investors.
That is the most of any of the 10 largest companies including Apple and Nvidia in the S&P 500 by market capitalization.

Tesla really, really wants you to vote on Elon Musk's pay package
- Tesla is offering a potential Gigafactory tour with Elon Musk to shareholders who vote in its annual meeting.
- 15 investors will be chosen at random for the tour, Tesla said.
- The vote will address proposals regarding Musk's pay plan and moving Tesla's incorporation to Texas.
Tesla is offering shareholders the opportunity to tour its Texas Gigafactory alongside Elon Musk and the designer of the Cybertruck Franz von Holzhausen — there's just one catch.
To qualify for a possible invite to the tour, investors must cast their vote on Musk's pay package .
Tesla announced the tour promotion on Tuesday. The company will select 15 shareholders at random for the event, which will take place the day before the annual shareholder meeting on June 12 and will include a tour of the Cybertruck and Model Y production lines at the Gigafactory.
Related stories
To enter into the raffle, Tesla investors must submit proof that they've held a stake in the company as of April 15, as well as show evidence that they voted on the proposals for the upcoming meeting. The deadline to apply for the opportunity is June 7.
"You should only submit proof that you voted, not how you voted," according to Tesla's website . "You do not need to vote for or against any proposals to be eligible for entry."
Ahead of the annual meeting for investors, shareholders will be asked to vote on a number of proposals, including a proposal to reinstate Musk's pay package, which was struck down by a Delaware judge earlier this year. The company is also asking investors to vote on a proposal to move the company's state of incorporation from Delaware to Texas, and a separate proposal to reelect Tesla board members Kimbal Musk and James Murdoch.
Over the past few weeks, Tesla has pulled out all the stops to encourage investors to vote for the proposals, particularly Musk's pay package, which was valued at around $55 billion before it was voided in January. The company has argued the compensation plan is "critical to the future success of Tesla" and has even paid for a handful of advertisements promoting the pay plan.
Meanwhile, some investors have urged others to vote against the proposals. On May 21, a group of shareholders filed a letter with the Securities and Exchange Commission calling for investors to vote against both Musk's pay package and the proposal to reelect Murdoch and Kimbal Musk. Separately, proxy advisory firm Glass Lewis said in a report on Saturday that the pay plan was "excessive" and presented investors with "uncertain benefits and additional risk."
