29 stunning pictures and videos that take you inside Antilia, Mukesh Ambani & Nita Ambani's residence
By Nitya Chablani
Home to Mukesh and Nita Ambani , Antilia may just be one of India's most talked-about residences. Located in South Mumbai's Altamount Road, the skyscraper was designed in consultation with American architecture firms Perkins and Will & Hirsch Bedner Associates, and is said to be the world's second most valuable residential property, second only to Buckingham Palace. The skyscraper is also one of the world's tallest single-family houses, and as of 2014, was valued at $2 billion.
Packing together 27 floors (each with extra high ceilings, making it as tall as an average 60 storey building), Antilia doesn't just draw attention for its unconventional layout and grand scale. What makes the Ambanis' home one-of-a-kind is also its impressive array of special features. Constructed to be able to withstand earthquakes that measure up to eight on the Richter scale, Antilia also houses three helipads, a theatre that accommodates 80 guests, a spa, a garage for 168 vehicles, a ballroom, and terrace gardens.
Over the years, the Ambanis have opened the doors to Antilia for several special occasions, from Mumbai Indians' 10th anniversary to their daughter Isha Ambani 's wedding in 2018. Below, we take you on a virtual tour through some of the most beautiful corners of the Ambani home, as seen online and through Vogue India's shoots.
A look at the Ambani family's grand entrance
Look beyond the towering dark wood and mirror work gates of Antilia and what awaits is a beautiful drive through surrounded by foliage. What makes the Ambani residence entrance note-worthy is how the family's decorators redo the area for different celebrations. While white and pink blooms decked up the entrance during Akash and Shloka Ambani's pre-wedding functions, Isha Ambani's wedding day had Antilia's entrance filled with ruby roses. The front porch is also home to one of American artist Robert Indiana's famous red Love sculptures, beyond which lie the doors to the home.
Take a walk through the Ambanis' intimate meeting area
Among the many floors within Antilia sits a cosy meeting area, where Vogue India shot Nita Ambani back in 2017. All dark wooden flooring, intricately woven rugs and warm lighting, the space also includes a winding staircase with glass panelling, plush couches in terracotta tones, and moody paintings.

Have you seen the interiors of Isha Ambani's bedroom?
While Isha Ambani now lives in Worli with husband Anand Piramal , she does make regular visits to Antilia, and can often be seen spending time with family and friends there on special occasions. This picture of the businesswoman dressed up for a celebration takes us inside her living quarters, which, like the rest of her home, follows a soothing, earthy colour palette. You'll spot a salon-style hair wash station in the background, behind which sits a table full of silver photo frames, and a large painting that looks like an FN Souza. It's safe to say that one of Ambani's most prized artworks, however, is the neon Tracey Emin creation her mother Nita Ambani gifted her when she graduated from university, which spells out the message "When I hold you, I hold your heart."
Here's a peek from Antilia's sun kissed living area
Given its height, Antilia offers its residents a breathtaking view of the sea, which is best captured from its living area. Featuring a sweeping balcony and ceiling-to-floor windows, this sun-kissed section of the Ambani home is where Isha Ambani shot her Vogue India cover in 2019.
Along with light wood accents and flawless white marble, the Ambanis' living area also celebrates their love for art, housing a silver and gold Subodh Gupta, and a gold Ravinder Reddy head sculpture. "I really wouldn't call myself a collector," Nita Ambani once revealed in an interview with The Telegraph . "I'm just starting out, and the more I look and the more I see, the more the work speaks to me... my daughter also loves art and she's introduced me to works and artists."
This picture from Isha Ambani's recent get together with Japanese artist Takashi Murakami also shares a peek inside her living area, which brings together lots of neutral accents. Set against warm marble flooring, the space gives guests a chance to wind down on plush brown couches which sit on an intricately woven rug. A mirror-effect coffee table topped off with books and crystal swans isn't the only detail that will catch your eye in here. Look beyond and you'll also notice sweet family photos from past celebrations on other side tables.
Step into the Ambanis' beautiful in-house elevator
Given how many celebrations the Ambani family hosts inside Antilia, it comes as no surprise that their 27-storey home features large elevators to accommodate large numbers of people at once. What makes their lifts a favourite photo spot, however, are their beautiful interiors. The walls of each elevator come covered in earthy fabric with mirror work details, creating the perfect backdrop for group shots, like this one.
Don't miss this video from Antilia's entertainment hall
From engagements to sangeets and even Isha Ambani's wedding ceremony, the Ambanis have hosted more than a few memorable get-togethers inside Antilia. The skyscraper includes its very own space for such celebrations, which seems to be able to accommodate hundreds of guests. While one bash saw the entertaining area decked out in snowy trees and a matching ivory grand piano, another had the space transform into an evening garden complete with pink blooms, romantic lanterns, and a stage for dance performances. For each big night, the Ambanis make sure to decorate their grand staircase in a fresh way, picking a special theme and sets to match.

Nita Ambani and Shloka Ambani take us into Antilia's most beautiful corners
Over the years, Nita Ambani has allowed the world into her home by way of pictures captured before some of her biggest get-togethers. One must-see snapshot of the entrepreneur and philanthropist shares a sneak peek into Antilia's special entertainment area, which features a winding illuminated staircase, marble floors detailed with intricate inlay work, and in the midst of it all, a gilded pillar embossed with lotus motifs, sitting behind a striking bust.
More recently, a picture of Shloka Ambani, captured minutes before she attended Armaan Jain and Anissa Malhotra's sangeet, also reveals another picture-perfect corner of the residence, done up with regal carpets, lots of beautifully carved silverware and fresh roses.

Mukesh Ambani , India's richest man, and his family live in a fittingly opulent 27-story tower on Mumbai's most exclusive street.
Named the most expensive private residence in the world by the Guinness Book of World Records, the Ambanis' house apparently requires a staff of 600, has three helipads, and features a movie theater that can seat 50.
Dubbed Antilia — the name of a mythical island off the coast of Europe — the interior of the building has been rarely photographed.
Business Insider compiled everything we know about Antilia, the Ambani family home.
The Ambani family’s pre-wedding festivities captured the world’s attention this month.
The Ambani family caught the world's attention this month with pre-wedding festivities for son Anant that included a private Rihanna concert and meals prepared by 100 chefs.
Anant Ambani’s pre-wedding party had tons of high-profile guests.
High-profile guests, including Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg , flocked to Jamnagar, India, to toast the marriage of Anant, whose father, Mukesh, is reported to be worth $113 billion.
Mukesh Ambani and his wife Nita have three children.
Isha and Akash are twins, and they're the oldest Ambani children . Anant is their younger brother. It's unclear who lives at Antilia full-time, though the Huffington Post reported that the home required a staff of 600.
Mukesh Ambani is considered India's richest man.
Mukesh Ambani is the chairman of the energy, retail, and media conglomerate Reliance Industries and is considered India's richest man. The tower he custom-built sits on Altamount Road, the Billionaires' Row of Mumbai.
The Ambani family’s Mumbai residence is the most expensive home in the world.
The Ambani family's home is the most expensive private residence in the world, according to the Guinness Book of World Records. (Other rankings put it second, after Buckingham Palace .)
The tower is called Antilia, named after a mythical island in the Atlantic Ocean.
The 400,000-square-foot structure is officially 27 stories high, although its many double-height ceilings mean it's closer in height to a traditional 40-story building.
Antilia cost $1 billion to build.
The Ambanis' house was constructed between 2006 and 2010, according to Architectural Digest India. At the time, it cost an estimated $1 billion to build, but there's no way of knowing what the tower is worth today.
Inside Antilia, there are 9 elevators, a 50-seat cinema, and a full-service spa.
… Plus, the tower has a 168-car garage and is equipped with three helipads.
Antilia opened in February 2010.
But in 2011, The New York Times reported Mumbai's elite were speculating that the Ambanis hadn't yet moved into the tower. Antilia, one expert said, didn't align with Hindu architectural philosophy.
There's luxury art inside Antilia.
In 2020, Vogue India cataloged some high-end art inside the Ambani house, including work by the modern Indian artist Francis Newton Souza and "Love" sculptor Robert Indiana.
Antilia was a site of celebration in early 2024.
The Ambani family hosted a light show at Antilia in January 2024 in honor of the historic inauguration of Ram Mandir, a gigantic new temple in the ancient city of Ayodhya.
Holograms of religious sayings adorned the building. Visitors flocked to see the bedazzled tower and get close to one of India's most iconic homes.
Antilia's opulence has drawn criticism.
In 2011, Ratan Tata, another one of India's richest men, told the Times of India: "It's sad because this country needs people to allocate some of their enormous wealth to finding ways of mitigating the hardship that people have."
Correction: March 7, 2024 — An earlier version of this story incorrectly described the age of Anant Ambani. He's the youngest son of Mukesh and Nita Ambani, not the eldest. It also misidentified one of the people in a photo from the family's pre-wedding celebrations. It's Paula Hurd, not Melinda French Gates.

What We Know About the Ambani Wedding
Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s pre-wedding in March caused a stir when photos and videos of their lavish celebration circulated on social media. Here’s what we know about their July nuptials.
By Sadiba Hasan
Even in a country known for grandiose weddings, Anant Ambani, the son of India’s richest man, and Radhika Merchant’s three-day pre-wedding celebration earlier this year in India stood out.
Within hours into the opulent event — where Rihanna performed, and Mark Zuckerberg and Ivanka Trump wore sherwanis and saris — photographs and videos began to flood social media. The display of money, power and wealth from India’s most influential business family captured the attention of critics and onlookers around the world .
On March 1, more than 1,000 members of the international elite flew to Jamnagar, a city in the western Indian state of Gujarat, for the weekend festivities. Guests, which included billionaires and Bollywood superstars, were offered services like chartered flights, makeup artists, top chefs and luxurious vehicles for pickup and drop-off. A glass palace was built for the occasion, and there was a light show consisting of more than 5,000 drones.
The couple’s wedding will take place in July, but their team has kept under wraps the specifics of what will be one of the most lavish weddings of the season. Here’s what we know so far.
Anant Ambani is a son of Mukesh Ambani , the chairman of the megacompany Reliance Industries who Forbes estimates is worth $115 billion , and Nita Ambani.
Mr. Ambani, 29, runs the energy business at Reliance Industries, based in Mumbai, India. He has two older twin siblings, both of whom are also on the board of Reliance Industries. He graduated from Brown and is passionate about animal welfare and rehabilitation. The pre-wedding ceremony included a tour of Vantara, Mr. Ambani’s animal sanctuary in Jamnagar. “This was my giving back to society,” he said in a speech during the festivities.
Radhika Merchant is a daughter of Viren and Shaila Merchant. Mr. Merchant is the chief executive and vice chairman of Encore Healthcare, also headquartered in Mumbai.
Ms. Merchant, 29, is a director at her family’s health care company. She graduated from N.Y.U. and is trained in Indian classical dance.
The Love Story
Ms. Merchant told Vogue that she and Mr. Ambani met through mutual friends during a drive in 2017. “That first meeting just sparked something special between us, and it wasn’t long before we started dating,” she said.
In 2023, Mr. Ambani proposed to Ms. Merchant at the Shrinathji Temple in the northwestern Indian state of Rajasthan.
“I am 100 percent the lucky one, there is no doubt about that,” Mr. Ambani said in a speech during the pre-wedding weekend. “It feels like I met Radhika yesterday, but every day, I fall more and more in love. Like my brother-in-law says, when he used to see my sister, he had volcanoes and fountains going up in his heart. I would say I have earthquakes and tsunamis going on in my heart when I see Radhika.”
The Wedding Date
After a slight shift in dates, the wedding is now set to take place July 12 through 14. The dates were determined by the Hindu tradition of getting married on an auspicious date based on the couples’ birth charts.
Indian weddings typically include several events, including a haldi, a ceremony that involves applying turmeric paste on the bride and groom’s body; a mehndi, a henna ritual; a sangeet, a night of music and dancing; and a wedding ceremony followed by a reception.
The Location
The wedding festivities will occur in Mumbai, where the couple live. Events will be split between the Ambani family home, called Antilia , and the Jio World Convention Centre, a popular venue in Mumbai for weddings. Receptions will be at the larger venue, whereas intimate ceremonies will take place in their home.
The Pre-Wedding
Bill Gates; Mark Zuckerberg; present and former prime ministers of Canada, Sweden, and Qatar; the king and queen of Bhutan; and Bollywood’s biggest stars, like Deepika Padukone, Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan, all attended the pre-wedding celebration in early March.
There was plenty of entertainment, including a performance by Rihanna on the first night. Diljit Dosanjh, the first Punjabi singer to perform at Coachella, took the stage on the second night. And to close out the weekend, Akon performed.
The celebration was a fashion spectacle, with custom looks from Versace, Dolce & Gabbana and Manish Malhotra. A 10-page dress code, which included a “jungle fever” theme for a visit to the animal sanctuary, was sent to guests in advance.
Mr. Ambani’s two older siblings also had lavish pre-wedding festivities. Hillary Clinton and John Kerry were among the attendees at Isha Ambani’s pre-wedding in 2018, which featured a performance by Beyoncé . A year later, Akash Ambani’s pre-wedding bash featured a performance by Coldplay .
Given the extravagance of Ms. Merchant and Mr. Ambani’s pre-wedding celebration, we expect lots of opulence for the couple’s wedding in July. This article will continue to be updated as more information is released.
