We had a wonderful experience with Wild Safari. The crew were all nice men, and they all worked hard to make sure the packing was done right. The cost of our move was close to the cost quoted by two other companies. I just had a gut feeling to choose this one. I made the right choice, because it couldn't have went much better, in my opinion. We ordered lunch from Jimmy John's, for the men. They were all so appreciative. I recommend this mover!

I recently hired Wild Safari through a Groupon deal for my daughter's move, paying $255.59 for two hours of moving/packing service with two movers. Initially, communication was delayed; despite being promised a callback within 30 minutes, we had to follow up four hours later. Once we connected, they honored the Groupon and scheduled the movers for noon. However, they arrived three hours late, claiming a flexible window of 12:00 to 2:00. Although we had pre-packed most items, the movers struggled with disassembling and reassembling furniture. They took two hours to load the truck, encountered difficulties with the bed, and resorted to makeshift solutions. Unloading took another two hours, during which they mishandled items, broke some cups, and left trash on our kitchen floor. There was a discrepancy regarding payment: they refused to accept the Groupon and demanded $800, offering a meager 5% discount for tardiness. Additionally, they insisted on payment through Cash App or Venmo, which felt unprofessional. Ultimately, the experience was disappointing and not worth the time or money. The movers' tardiness, lack of professionalism, and insistence on a positive review detracted from the overall service quality.

I prefer not give Safari Movers even one star. They are a complete scam and the owner Kenny Tucker is an extortionist. They gave us a quote for 2 hours ($400) to move a one bedroom apartment which was already completely packed and boxed up. The movers also commented "this was the most packed up apartment they had ever moved". They were supposed to show up at noon. They arrived at 1:30pm in an unlabeled truck. The owner Kenny told me they clocked in at 1330 and out at 2130. What they did between those hours is a mystery. Kenny told me it took the 3 guys five hours to load the truck, claimed their tools were stolen while parked and they needed purchase new tools. They also took lunch. Kenny gave me 3 different lunch break times( 1 hr, 40 and 30 minutes). The new location was 12 miles away. They arrived at the drop off residence at 1900. I was told it took them 60 minutes to travel the 12 miles. The crew reported they were lost and went to the wrong neighborhood. It took them 90 minutes to unload the truck. So I was initially charged for 8 hours. Obviously way overcharged to move a one bedroom apartment. I told him there was no way I was gong to pay the cost of this small move, almost $2,000 when initially quoted $400. He told me he could not pay his employees and he told them to come back to my son's house and demand the money. They waited in front of his house until I paid. He was frightened and felt threatened. Kenny told me he would take off 2.5 hours and only charge me for 5 hours and went on about how much work they did. I asked him several times to send me the invoice, which he never sent because his "phone froze". Eventually I paid him $1090.00 for 5 hours which was still outrageous. But given my son felt threatened, I had no choice. The team did do a great job and worked hard. They however lied about their tools being stolen and inaccuracy of their time. I beg you not to ever do business with this company or Kenny Tucker. He is dishonest and threatening. I have filed a report with the Better Business Bureau and the local police department for extortion.

Make sure you have a back up plan when booking with them. We scheduled our move for 12pm. No one showed up until almost 6pm. Quite literally had to rearrange my entire day, which included not being able to go to work (night shift). Highly unprofessional and grossly inconvenient. "Discount" offered was subpar. Very unfortunate because the actual movers were pleasant and worked efficiently. 3bdrm 2bth apartment loaded and unloaded in 3hrs.

ZERO STARS! Wasted an ENTIRE day waiting on the bum ass movers! Then when I went to call the bum ass manager to get clarification, got NO ANSWER! Save. Your. Money. It's not worth the hassle!

Communication was a major issue for my wife and me. We booked a move a few months in advance, and everything seemed lined up for a great move. However, a few days before our move date we got hit with a snowstorm -- leading to our start time getting shifting from 8 am to 12 pm. The shift change itself wasn't an issue for us, but no one communicated this change. After a couple of hours of waiting, I reached out to WFM, which is how we learned about the time change. Noon comes around and no one shows up. We waited a bit longer and then reached out a few times until we learned the moving team was running long with their first move. Again, a non-issue for us had someone let us know. We waited a couple of hours longer -- no moving team. We reach out again and learn that they got their truck stuck and were waiting for a tow truck to pull them out (yet another instance of having to reach out to learn about the issue). Around 5 p.m. I reach out again to ask if we'll have to push the move to the next day. After a few hours, and more texts from me, I get an answer that we'll have to do so. The next day is a Sunday, which the company typically doesn't operate on. But, they're making an exception given the situation, which I genuinely appreciated. However, no one showed up on Sunday. And, no one communicated to us that no one was showing up. We had to reach out again to learn this. We were then told we'd move on the next day (Monday) instead. At this point, we've lost trust in the company and we canceled the move -- scrambling to find an alternative solution (we did, thankfully, but it led to most of our stuff being left in our garage instead of putting things in their designated rooms since we hired a couple of fantastic high schoolers to help us instead of a professional moving company). Fortunately, we were able to cancel our Groupon with WFM and get a refund. Later in the week, we got a call from someone at WFM asking how our move went. I shared a recap of our experience and they apologized, which was appreciated. But, it was too little too late to make up for our experience. Before anyone thinks that maybe it was an employee error, we were communicating directly with Kenny, the owner. Luckily, we didn't need to be out of our home same day. However, because of the non-communication and no-shows, we needed to hire a cleaning company, rent a moving truck for multiple days, and seek childcare for our children. Not only was this an extremely stressful experience, but it turned out to be more costly than expected.

I visited 5 of the best safari parks in Africa. The trip was filled with surprises, and there are a few things I wish I'd known before leaving.

• I visited five of Kenya's best safari parks to see some of  Africa's most famous animals in the wild.
• There were many aspects of the safari that surprised me despite the research I did before my trip.
• I was surprised by many things, including how long I spent sitting in safari cars. 

Seeing some of Africa's most famous animals in the wild has been on my bucket list for years. With adventure travel on the rise, I decided to take the plunge and make the 20+ hour flight to Africa to visit some of Kenya's best safari parks.

Masai Mara is arguably the most famous for big-cat sightings, but Amboseli National Park , Crescent Island Game Sanctuary, Nairobi National Park, and Hell's Gate National Park are also must-see reserves teeming with wildlife.

I did lots of research beforehand but found I was unprepared for many things I experienced while on safari — and there are things I'll definitely do differently the next time I go.

From what I should have worn to what seeing the animals was really like, here's what surprised me most about going on safari in Kenya.

I sat in the safari vehicle for about 8 hours every day

Between a morning and afternoon game drive, I spent about eight hours in the car daily. It was shocking to see the low number of daily steps on my Oura ring.

I started doing yoga at the end of the night to loosen up my hips. My airplane pillow also helped me stay comfortable, especially during the seven-hour drives to other parks.

My shoes were off for most of the drives

In hindsight, I should have worn sandals on my drives. Most safari vehicles have small windows and a top that lifts up, and you're frequently standing on the chairs to get a better view.

We took off our shoes when we got into the car so we were ready to hop up on the chairs at a moment's notice.

I had lots of early mornings and bedtimes.

The best times for safaris are in the mornings and at dusk, and sometimes, we had 4 a.m. start times. The lack of sleep , paired with the heat, made me eager to get to bed early.

I'm not a morning person, but I preferred the early drives for the animal activity (and incredible sunrises) we saw. We used the less-ideal safari hours during the day to nap, do other activities in the area, or drive to other parks.

Many animals can be difficult to spot due to distance or camouflage

We had our fair share of close-up sightings, but many of the animals we wanted to see were far away and sometimes not immediately obvious to the naked eye.

We ditched our iPhones and used binoculars and someone's camera viewfinder to get a closer look.

A pair of binoculars and a camera with a zoom lens are essential for getting the best view (and pictures) possible.

There were long periods of time with minimal animal sightings

Safari drives can be frustrating because you can't control what animals you'll see, how far away they are, and how long the sighting will last. But being patient can be rewarding.

During one dusk drive, we spent three hours searching for a pride of lions without any luck. Finally, as the sun set in the last half hour, we stumbled upon three female lions napping, a leopard, and giraffes.

Many of the animals are sleeping during the day

I expected to see animals moving around or hunting, but many were resting during the day. It was only when dusk approached that they started to slowly stake out a spot by the grazing herds.

If I go on safari again, I'll book a night drive so I can see how the lions and other animals act during their peak hours of activity.

My view was largely out of my control

Whenever a less common animal like a lion or cheetah is spotted, a traffic jam of safari vehicles speed over and line up, vying for the best view.

What you see — and sometimes, if you see anything at all — can depend on your driver and what vantage point they can get.

Your view can also depend on your position in the car. I spent a lot of time scrambling around to catch a sighting (and a photo, if I was lucky).

Prey is plentiful, but seeing any action is unlikely

Gazelles and impalas were everywhere, so it was surprising to learn that the lions might not eat for days.

Our driver told us the best thing he's seen on safari was a cheetah hunting a gazelle, and then a pride of lions swooping in to steal his meal. However, these kinds of sightings are rare.

Predators need to consider everything from the direction the wind is blowing to the length of the grass when trying to sneak up on their prey. Many hunts are unsuccessful, so seeing one in person is unlikely.

Crocodile safari boat tour.

A unique activity in the Jaco area is a crocodile safari boat tour along the Tarcoles River. This river and mangrove system is teeming with crocodiles and has lots of birds too. We work with a great company with knowledgeable naturalist guides that will teach you about all the wildlife you see.

In addition to crocodiles, many types of birds can be spotted, including Magnificent Frigatebirds, kingfisher, herons, wood storks, egrets, Roseate Spoonbills, Scarlet Macaw parrots, and lots more.

The company provides a nice booklet with pictures showing the birds and animals you’ll get to see on the tour. 

The crocodile safari tour is on a comfortable covered boat.

This tour starts from the town of Tarcoles, about 30 minutes from Jaco. You can meet for the tour or transportation is available from the Jaco area for an additional $25 per person.

Cost: $31 per person adults, $27 per person children ages 4-12. Rates plus 13% tax. Children under 4 are free.

Offered: 8:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m.

Duration: 1.5 hours (approximate)

Includes: Bilingual certified guide, paper wildlife pamphlet, fruit juice, and coffee.
