Aer Lingus, the flag carrier of Ireland, has in recent years taken advantage of a favorable geographic location that’s easily accessible from the U.S., and as a result, has added numerous flights to the North American continent. This is especially true for the East Coast of the U.S. As the second-largest airline in Ireland, you should have no trouble finding an Aer Lingus flight from the U.S.

In this guide, we’ll be analyzing all of Aer Lingus’ nonstop routes between the U.S. and Ireland. We’ve got a bit of ground to cover, so let’s begin.

Aer Lingus is generally reliable when it comes to operating its aircraft on specific routes. In addition, Aer Lingus’ Dublin base makes for a relatively short flight between Ireland and much of the U.S., so we won’t be seeing high-capacity aircraft such as the Boeing 777, 747, or 787, or the Airbus A380.

Instead, Aer Lingus operates using a mostly point-to-point model to connect cities across the U.S. to Ireland.

Ireland acquires most of its air passengers from tourism, which is why the aircraft operated are smaller than, say, British Airways , which routinely uses the Airbus A380 and Boeing 777.

Check out the table below for the complete Aer Lingus route guide for flights between Ireland and the U.S.:

Now, let’s talk a bit about the different ways to fly Aer Lingus using points and miles.

Aer Lingus happens to be owned by the same parent company as British Airways and Iberia. Both of these carriers are members of the Oneworld Alliance , but Aer Lingus is currently not a formal member.

You can redeem United MileagePlus miles (through North American gateways only), Aer Lingus Avios , British Airways Avios , and Cathay Pacific Asia Miles for travel on Aer Lingus.

Aer Lingus doesn’t have many partners you can redeem miles with, but you’ll still have a few options to use points for flights on Aer Lingus.

  • Aer Lingus, British Airways, and Cathay Pacific are American Express transfer partners
  • Aer Lingus, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, and United are transfer partners with Bilt Rewards
  • Aer Lingus, British Airways, and United are transfer partners with Chase Ultimate Rewards
  • British Airways and Cathay Pacific are transfer partners with Capital One Miles
  • Cathay Pacific is a  transfer partner with Citi ThankYou Rewards
  • United, British Airways, and Cathay Pacific are transfer partners with Marriott Bonvoy

Unfortunately, Aer Lingus doesn’t currently offer any first class options on its routes between Ireland and the U.S.

Aer Lingus A321neo business class

The goal of business class is to enjoy a lie-flat bed, good food, and a peaceful flight to your destination.

Aer Lingus doesn’t disappoint in this regard, as long as you pick the best seats. In business class, you’ll enjoy a cheerful inflight experience, decent award redemptions, and good food and beverage selections.

Here are the planes that you can currently fly business class between the U.S. and Ireland — there are both narrow- and wide-body aircraft that Aer Lingus uses for these flights:

  • Airbus A330-200
  • Airbus A330-300
  • Airbus A321neo LR

Aer Lingus A330-200 Business Class

The Airbus A330 is a wide-body aircraft that’s spawned a number of different versions since the jet has been in production, with the -200 variant being among the older ones.

As far as the seats themselves go, there are 23 total in the cabin. These Thompson Vantage XL seats all lie completely flat, though they’re on the small side, with just 21 inches of width and 58 inches of pitch.

Here’s what the seat map looks like:

Aer Lingus A330-200 Business Class Seat Map

The best seats in this cabin are 3K and 5K , which are both so-called “throne” seats . If you can’t reserve those, the next best seats are the window seats at 3A and 5A.

While it’s harder to find the Aer Lingus A330-200 these days, you may still find it flying the following routes:

  • Los Angeles (LAX) – Dublin (DUB)
  • Miami (MIA) – Dublin (DUB)
  • Newark (EWR) – Dublin (DUB)
  • Orlando (MCO) – Dublin (DUB)
  • San Francisco (SFO) – Dublin (DUB)
  • Seattle (SEA) – Dublin (DUB)
  • Washington, D.C. (IAD) – Dublin (DUB)

Aer Lingus A330-300 Business Class

The next product we’ll look at is found on the Airbus A330-300, a larger variant of the A330. The cabin itself is larger — you’ll find 30 seats instead of 23, making it 30% larger than the cabin on the -200 variant.

Otherwise, the seats themselves are identical to what you’d find in the -200, with 21 inches of pitch and 58 inches of pitch.

Here’s what the seat map looks like on this aircraft:

Aer Lingus A330-300 Business Class Seat Map

As we already discussed, the most preferred seats are the “throne” seats, of which there are 3 in this cabin. These are 3K, 5K, and 7K. You would want to pick 5K first, followed by 3K and 7K last , based on distance from the lavatories.

If the throne seats are all reserved — a very strong possibility — the next-best options are 2A, 4A, and 6A. These are true window seats and are much more private than aisle seats in 3A, 5A, and 7A.

You can generally find the A330-300 flying on the following routes:

  • Boston (BOS) – Dublin (DUB)
  • Chicago (ORD) – Dublin (DUB)
  • New York (JFK) – Dublin (DUB)

Aer Lingus A321neo LR Business Class

Finally, there’s Aer Lingus’ relatively new, narrow-body Airbus A321neo LR. The business class cabin on these planes has 16 lie-flat seats in an alternating 2-2 and 1-1 configuration.

Each seat measures 20 inches wide, extends to a bed that measures 78 inches long, and offers 45 inches of pitch when upright.

For context, this seat and configuration most closely resemble JetBlue’s original Mint product , whereby there are throne seats (the best options), and seats without direct aisle access.

Aer Lingus A321neo LR business class seat map

The best seats (especially for solo travelers) are 3A, 3K, 5A, and 5K . These are throne seats that provide tons of space all for yourself. Of course, you won’t have a seatmate to worry about, making it ideal for solo travelers.

You’ll find this single-aisle aircraft on the following routes:

  • Boston (BOS) – Shannon (SNN)
  • Cleveland (CLE) – Dublin (DUB)
  • Hartford (BDL) – Dublin (DUB)
  • Newark (EWR) – Dublin (DUB)
  • New York (JFK) – Shannon (SNN)
  • Philadelphia (PHL) – Dublin (DUB)
  • Toronto (YYZ) – Dublin (DUB)
  • Washington, D.C. (IAD) – Dublin (DUB)

Aer Lingus Premium Economy Class Options

Unfortunately, Aer Lingus doesn’t offer a premium economy product to flyers.

Aer Lingus pair dining economy

Aer Lingus is known for offering some of the most affordable economy tickets to Ireland and onwards to Europe if you’re willing to take connecting flights.

The seats aren’t the biggest economy seats in the world, but you can make your ride more comfortable by reserving the right seats on the right plane.

Our economy class ranking is as follows:

Aer Lingus A321neo LR Economy Class

The A321neo LR has the largest economy seats of all these aircraft. They’re arranged in a 3-3 configuration with a single aisle, and each measures 18 inches wide and offers 32 of pitch.

The seat map looks like this:

Aer Lingus A321neo LR economy class seat map

The best seats are in row 15, thanks to the exit row. Also, rows 13 and 14 have limited recline, so be sure to avoid those when you can. You’ll also want to avoid rows 13, 14, 25, and 34 if you can due to the restrictive recline, lack of windows, and proximity to lavatories and galleys.

That being said, snagging a seat in row 15 can make the difference between feeling constricted and feeling more free to move around. You’ll find the A321neo LR flown on these nonstop Aer Lingus routes:

Aer Lingus A330-200 Economy Class

The A330-200 has a total of 243 seats in economy. Each of them is 17 inches wide and offers 31 to 32 inches of pitch. The economy cabin is arranged in a 2-4-2 configuration as shown here:

Aer Lingus A330-200 Economy Class Seat Map

The exit row seats are located at rows 11 and 29. Row 11 seats are the best in this case, specifically seats 11A and 11C . This is because the seats are located on the opposite side of the lavatory. Instead, there’s only a galley near 11A and 11C.

If you can’t reserve 11A or 11C on Aer Lingus’ A330-200, you can try aiming for the bassinet seats at 11D/E/G to avoid the lavatories. If those are taken, we suggest you choose 11H/K, followed by seats in row 29.

You can find the A330-200 on these Aer Lingus routes to and from the U.S.:

Aer Lingus A330-300 Economy Class

Our last choice would be the Aer Lingus A330-300, which is essentially a more-crowded version of the A330-200. The seats are the same design and size, but there are more of them.

Aer Lingus’ A330-300 has 287 economy seats , whereas its A330-200 has 243. The 2-4-2 configuration remains the same, but the positioning of the lavatories and galleys is the main difference.

Check out the cabin configuration below:

Aer Lingus A330-300 Economy Class Seat Map

The best seats in this layout are in rows 8 and 30 . Fortunately, there are no lavatories near row 8, and the lavatories near row 30 are significantly further from the seats than is typical.

Those traveling as a couple should pick 2 seats on a single side of the aircraft in the exit rows to maximize comfort.

You’ll be able to find the A330-300 flown by Aer Lingus on these routes between Ireland and the U.S.:

Aer Lingus provides great options for travelers to get to Ireland without requiring positioning flights, especially in the Northeastern U.S.

For example, its network in cities like Hartford (BDL) and Philadelphia (PHL) allows flyers to avoid a connection in larger, busier airports like Boston (BOS), New York (JFK), or Washington, D.C. (IAD).

There’s a clear hierarchy of seats on any given Aer Lingus aircraft, and it will always be in the solo traveler’s best interest to book the business class throne seats. Keep in mind that these are competitive, and window seats are a decent consolation prize.

As far as coach goes, the design of the economy section goes a long way in dictating which rows of seats are best for travelers.

Now, you have the insider’s guide on Aer Lingus’ U.S. routes.

Aer Lingus business class is one of the best sweet spots for using points and miles, especially from the East Coast of the U.S.

You can use British Airways Avios to book travel on Aer Lingus, though you’ll need to call them to actually book the ticket.

British Airways uses a distance-based award chart and some sweet spots include Boston (BOS) to Dublin (DUB) in off-peak business class for 31,250 Avios one-way. This is a steal because Aer Lingus usually charges 50,000 Avios for the same flight!

If you pair this with transfer bonuses from American Express (up to 40%), then you can get a 6-hour business class flight for as few as 22,321 Amex points.

With Aer Lingus Avios, you can fly to and from San Francisco (SFO), Seattle (SEA), or Los Angeles (LAX) for 62,500 Avios during off-peak dates.

When using BA Avios, the Boston-Dublin route is a “sweet spot” that costs 10,000 Avios off-peak and 12,500 Avios during peak times.

‘Know Before You Go’ with New Aer Lingus Travel Support Tool

sachajackson

With consumer confidence in travel slowly returning, Aer Lingus has introduced a new digital Travel Support Tool designed to remove confusion regarding travel restrictions and entry requirements for all Aer Lingus destinations.

The Sherpa-powered interactive tool on aerlingus.com allows customers to search destinations and retrieve up-to-date tailored travel information based on their specific circumstances including vaccination status, return travel and flight connection requirements.

Clearing Up Consumer Confusion

Since Ireland’s lifting of the ban on non-essential travel on 19 July, Aer Lingus has noted a high volume of queries from customers confused by the entry requirements, restrictions and documentation needed for their journeys.

The new Aer Lingus Travel Support Tool helps to address these concerns by providing clear information, pulled from multiple official sources. Customers can get clarity on the types of COVID tests accepted, age criteria for testing of children and any exemptions that may apply at each destination.

Dave O’Donovan, Chief Digital and Information Officer at Aer Lingus, said: “ Since returning to travel, feedback from our customer service and social media teams, has made it clear that customers are concerned about what the requirements are for travel, particularly relating to location specific documentation, quarantine updates, and the Digital COVID Cert.

“We are proud to partner with Sherpa on the integration of this new interactive search tool on aerlingus.com. This tool will help to boost confidence in the travel experience, assuring customers of the steps they need to take to ensure a smooth and seamless journey.”

Color scheme is weird in recent update

Hi, i don’t know much about other features of the app but I was looking to book a flight and noticed that a recent update has made it difficult to do so with the iOS app. When I select origin/destination the options are all blacked out and hard to read. Then when I tried to select a date the calendar was mostly white. I clicked on the white calendar and the dates showed up but it was weird. I tried three times to make sure it wasn’t an accident but I had the same results each time. I highly suggest resolving this as it makes it very difficult to book a flight with the app

No concern at all for customers

I am owed 8 vouchers, I am a frequent traveler on AerLingus and they are forcing me to reconsider who to fly with. I applied for 4 vouchers on 4/4 ( 4 more since)and got an automatic reply saying you will hear back in 2 weeks but might be a little later due to number of claims. Now 3 months later and absolutely no response! i called AerLingus head office in New York and the automated message said, “ if this is about vouchers hang up etc etc”, so I hung up. I then wrote( snail mail) to the CEO in Dublin and he didn’t bother to answer me or even have someone else answer. I tried calling Dublin but to no avail. You would think they would have a dedicated line or online faculty to deal with this, absolutely nothing on the AerLingus website. I wrote a second time and no response. A total scandal, complete silence. I will be doing everything I can to to find an alternative carrier for future flights. I will now be claiming the cost of my flights back through my credit card companies for the failure of Aerlingus to deliver to me in a reasonable time the goods and services ( flights or now vouchers)they contracted to provide to me. No communications or information whatsoever from Aerlingus makes it much worse, it’s the not knowing. We are done.
The one lowlight was Aer Lingus. Their website was useless, their app was not functional, and it was virtually impossible to get anybody on the phone. I am talking about a full night of busy signals and being on hold for an hour before giving up. We were just trying to reserve seats, and confirm our flights / get boarding passes. They did not / could not / would not help us. As a result we were placed in the back row going with no recline of the seat and returning in the front row with my toes against the bulkhead / no ability to slip my feet under the seat in front. They were the worst two flights of my about 1,500,000 mile flying career. And, the food was awful / nonexistent. They ran out of sandwiches after serving the first four rows! The flight attendants were clearly embarrassed. Our first leg on the return was late. The crew refused to do anything like call ahead and ask the plane be held / ask passengers to let connecting passengers disembark first / tell us what the connecting gate was. The problems were systemic. I am sure they were not an isolated situation.

Instead of rushing through a layover, you can take advantage of a stopover to immerse yourself in a new culture, visit iconic landmarks, and indulge in local cuisine. Aer Lingus makes it easy for travelers to book a stopover, allowing you to explore even more on your next trip. In this article, we will guide you through the process of booking a stopover on Aer Lingus. Whether you’re planning a European adventure or a transatlantic journey, Aer Lingus offers a wide range of stopover destinations that will enhance your travel experience. So, get ready to discover how to book a stopover on Aer Lingus and unlock a world of possibilities. With a simple step-by-step process, you’ll be well on your way to creating unforgettable travel memories.

Step 1: Visit the Aer Lingus website

The first step in booking a stopover on Aer Lingus is to visit their official website. Open your preferred web browser and enter “www.aerlingus.com” in the address bar. Once the website loads, you’ll be greeted with a user-friendly interface that makes it easy to navigate and find the information you need. Take a moment to explore the various options available on the Aer Lingus website. From booking flights to managing your reservations, you’ll find everything you need in one place. Look for the search bar or the “Book” button, usually located at the top of the homepage. Clicking on these options will lead you to the flight booking section. Aer Lingus website offers a seamless browsing experience, with a responsive design that adapts to different screen sizes. Whether you’re using a laptop, tablet, or smartphone, you can access the website from any device and enjoy a consistent user experience. Before moving on to the next step, ensure that you have a stable internet connection. This will ensure a smooth online booking process. A reliable internet connection will also allow you to explore all the available options and make an informed decision when selecting your stopover destination. Once you’re connected and on the Aer Lingus website, you’re ready to proceed to the next step of the stopover booking process. Get ready to embark on a seamless journey filled with new experiences and adventures.

Step 2: Select “Multi-city” option

After landing on the Aer Lingus website, it’s time to choose the “Multi-city” option for booking your stopover. This option allows you to book multiple flights with different destinations, making it perfect for adding a stopover to your journey. Look for the “Flight” or “Book” tab on the Aer Lingus homepage and click on it. You will be taken to a new page dedicated to flight bookings. On this page, you will find a search form where you can enter your travel details. Instead of selecting the “One-way” or “Round-trip” options, choose the “Multi-city” option. This will open up a form where you can enter the details of your desired itinerary. The “Multi-city” option will give you the flexibility to customize your journey and include a stopover. In the form, enter your departure airport, destination airport for your stopover, and finally, your return destination. Make sure to select the appropriate dates for each leg of your journey. Take note of any specific requirements, such as visa or travel restrictions, for the countries you plan to visit. As you provide your travel details, the Aer Lingus website will automatically search for available flights that match your itinerary. You’ll be presented with a list of options that meet your requirements. Take your time to browse through the available flights and choose the ones that best fit your schedule and preferences. Once you’ve selected the flights for your stopover and return journey, proceed to the next step to finalize your booking. Remember, the “Multi-city” option is your key to unlocking the potential of a stopover, allowing you to create a unique and memorable travel experience.

Step 3: Enter your travel details

Now that you have selected the “Multi-city” option, it’s time to enter your travel details on the Aer Lingus website. This step is crucial as it helps the website find the most suitable flights for your stopover and return journey. In the form provided, start by entering your departure airport. This is the airport you will be flying out from for your trip. Make sure to double-check the airport code to ensure accuracy. Next, enter the destination airport for your stopover. This is the city or country where you want to spend some time exploring before continuing your journey. Selecting an enticing stopover destination can add an extra layer of adventure to your trip. Once you’ve entered the stopover destination, proceed to enter the details for your return journey. This will include the airport code of the airport where you want to return after your stopover. In addition to the airports, you will also need to enter the dates for each leg of your journey. Pay close attention to the calendar and make sure your selected dates align with your travel plans. As you enter your travel details, the Aer Lingus website will continuously update and display the available flights that match your itinerary. Take your time to review the options and consider things like layover times, flight durations, and any additional services or amenities offered. Remember to factor in the time you wish to spend at your stopover destination. Depending on your preferences, you can choose a short stopover to quickly explore a city or opt for a longer one to truly immerse yourself in the local culture. Once you are satisfied with the entered details, proceed to the next step to choose your stopover flights. By entering accurate and comprehensive travel details, you are ensuring that Aer Lingus presents you with the best options for your stopover and return journey.

Step 4: Choose your stopover destination

Choosing the right stopover destination can make or break your travel experience. Aer Lingus offers a wide range of exciting cities and countries for you to explore during your stopover. In this step, we will guide you on how to select the perfect stopover destination for your journey. As you navigate through the Aer Lingus website, you will come across a list of available stopover destinations. These options may vary depending on your departure airport, travel dates, and other factors. Take your time to explore the various options and consider what each destination has to offer. Think about your interests and preferences. Are you a nature lover looking to explore stunning landscapes? Or perhaps you’re a history enthusiast interested in visiting ancient sites? Maybe you’re a foodie eager to indulge in local culinary delights. Whatever your preferences may be, Aer Lingus offers a stopover destination that caters to every traveler’s interests. Research each stopover destination to gather information about the attractions, activities, and cultural experiences available. Read travel guides, browse through photos, and check out reviews from fellow travelers. This will help you determine which destination aligns with your travel goals and interests. Consider the duration of your stopover as well. Some destinations may have more to see and do, requiring a longer stopover to truly experience all they offer. Others may be better suited for a shorter layover where you can enjoy a taste of the local culture without feeling rushed. Keep in mind the practicalities as well, such as visa requirements, travel restrictions, and any additional costs associated with your stopover destination. Ensure that you meet the necessary entry requirements and have the proper documents in place if needed. Once you’ve chosen your stopover destination, proceed to the next step to select your flights. Remember, the stopover is an opportunity to enhance your travel experience, so choose a destination that aligns with your interests and adds an extra layer of excitement to your journey.

Step 5: Select your flights

Now that you have chosen your stopover destination, it’s time to select the flights for your journey. Aer Lingus provides a variety of flight options to suit different preferences and budgets. Follow this step to choose the flights that best meet your needs. On the Aer Lingus website, you will be presented with a list of available flights that match your itinerary. Take your time to review the options carefully and consider factors such as flight duration, layover times, and price. Pay attention to the layover duration at your stopover destination. Some travelers prefer a longer layover to have ample time to explore, while others may opt for a shorter layover to minimize travel time. Assess your personal preferences and select flights that align with your desired stopover experience. Consider any additional services or amenities offered by Aer Lingus. This could include in-flight entertainment, meals, or the option to upgrade your seat. Determine if these add-ons are important to you and factor them into your decision-making process. Take note of the flight times and ensure they align with your travel plans. Consider factors like time differences, connecting flights, and any activities you want to engage in during your stopover. It’s essential to have a well-planned itinerary to make the most of your journey. Once you have selected your desired flights, proceed to the next step to review and confirm your booking. Before finalizing your selection, double-check all the details to ensure accuracy. Verify the airports, dates, and any additional services you have selected. If you have any specific seating preferences or special requests, such as dietary requirements or assistance for passengers with disabilities, make sure to communicate them to Aer Lingus at this stage. Remember, choosing the right flights is crucial to have a smooth and enjoyable travel experience. Take your time, weigh the options, and select the flights that best suit your needs and preferences. With Aer Lingus, you can customize your journey and create a travel experience that is tailored to your individual tastes.

Step 6: Review and confirm your booking

Once you have selected your flights and made all the necessary choices, it’s time to review and confirm your booking with Aer Lingus. This final step ensures that all the details of your stopover journey are accurate and that you are ready to embark on your adventure. Before proceeding to confirm your booking, take a moment to review all the information you have entered. Check the departure airport, stopover destination, return destination, and travel dates for accuracy. Verify that the selected flights align with your preferences and meet your travel requirements. Pay attention to any additional services or add-ons you have selected, such as seat upgrades or dietary preferences. Ensure that all your special requests have been noted and accounted for by the airline. Review the pricing information to ensure that it aligns with your budget and that there are no unexpected charges. Take note of any baggage allowances or restrictions that may apply to your particular itinerary. Once you are satisfied with the details of your booking, it’s time to confirm and finalize the process. Proceed to the payment section and provide the necessary payment information to complete your booking. Aer Lingus offers a variety of payment methods to cater to different preferences. After you have made the payment, you will receive a confirmation email with all the details of your booking. It is essential to keep this email safe and easily accessible. It contains important information such as your booking reference number, flight details, and any additional instructions or requirements. Make sure to check your email inbox, including the spam folder, to ensure that you have received the confirmation email. If you have any concerns or questions about your booking, contact Aer Lingus customer service for further assistance. With your booking confirmed, you can now look forward to your stopover journey with Aer Lingus. Remember to make any necessary preparations for your stopover destination, such as researching local attractions, obtaining necessary visas, and packing accordingly. Congratulations! In advance of your upcoming holiday, we have put together some important information for you to review.

Travelling overseas from Ireland

Please refer to the official website of the Department of Foreign Affairs for travel information, requirements and restrictions, here .

Please ensure you complete all required documentation in advance of arriving at the airport for your departing flight. Failure to comply with your destination country’s requirements may result in you being refused entry, fines and return transport at your expense.

Each and every traveller must hold a current valid passport, including infants. Many countries (outside the EU) have an immigration requirement for a passport to remain valid for a minimum period (usually six months) beyond the period of your stay. There are no visa requirements for holders of EU passports to any of the EU destinations we feature; however, other nationalities must check with their respective Embassy or Consulate if a visa is required. Visas are required for various long haul destinations worldwide.

You will find information regarding passport, visa and vaccination requirements for different destinations on the International Air Transport Association (IATA) website, here .  We strongly recommend that all travellers take time to read the information and note the advices offered.

Information submitted through the IATA website is not used to personally identify you, and is only used to provide personalised travel documentation information.

The IATA website also gives access to information on customs import and export regulations, airport departure taxes, and currency import and export restrictions.

Passengers are responsible for ensuring all required travel documents are complete and valid.

Travel to the USA

For the most up to date information please refer to the Department of Foreign Affairs website here .

Those planning to travel are advised to monitor the website of the US Embassy in Dublin for updates.

Irish citizens require an ESTA or visa to enter the US.  An ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorisation) application can be made to determine the eligibility of visitors to travel to the US under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP).

A valid passport is required for travel to the US. Passport cards cannot be used. Ireland has an agreement with the US that allows you to enter on a current passport up to the actual date of expiration – so your Irish passport needs to be valid only for the duration of your stay in the US.

Travel to Canada

All visitors to Canada are required to have a valid passport that does not expire within six months of date of entry.

Canada has introduced an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) entry requirement for visa-exempt foreign nationals flying to or transiting through Canada. Passengers who do not require a visa to fly to Canada need to apply for an eTA. This includes passengers travelling on an Irish passport.  To apply for this visa please click here .

Important Travel Information

We are pleased that you have chosen to book your vacation with us! As experienced vacation experts, we are confident that you will be delighted with all aspects of the trip you have arranged through us. Because we want you to have the most enjoyable experience ever, we have compiled some helpful information for you. Please also be sure to visit our FAQ section on our website.

Passports and Visas

Please visit ItsEasy Passport & Visa for helpful information.

It is each traveler’s responsibility to ensure that they have a valid passport and proper visa documentation to travel.

All travelers are required to have a machine-readable passport valid for six months beyond the conclusion of their trip.

All travelers, regardless of the passport they hold, must check with the consulates of the countries being visited to determine if any entry visas are required. Depending on the itinerary, some vacations may also require multiple-entry visas for certain countries.

All programs booked through us require names exactly as they appear on the passport and some programs also require passport details (passport number, expiration, date of birth, etc.) be provided at the time of booking. It is very important to ensure that all information is reviewed for accuracy. To avoid any fees you must notify Aer Lingus Vacation Store of any corrections within 24 hours of booking. Aer Lingus Vacation Store is not responsible for Travelers who are denied boarding due to inaccurate information.

We cannot refund for unused services and we are not responsible for additional expenses due to lack of proper documentation.

Foreign Currency

Currency can be exchanged at airports and banks and some hotels will also offer this service. Service fees may also be applicable.

It is a good idea to have some small denominations handy upon arrival for tips, tolls, or taxis.

Credit Cards and cash (converted to the local currency) are easy ways to pay for food and souvenirs. ATMs are widely available and a convenient way to obtain cash. It is suggested that you notify your bank to let them know that you may be using your Debit Card/Credit Card for cash advances and/or purchases. Your bank will advise you of any applicable conversion/transaction fees.

For current rates of exchange please visit reliable sites such as http://www.reuters.com/finance/currencies .

Credit Cards

Visa, MasterCard and American Express are accepted in most countries. Please be sure to check with the shop/restaurant/vendor to be sure as some smaller vendors may not accept certain cards due to transaction fees.

For weather conditions pertinent to your itinerary visit reliable and international-friendly sites such as www.weather.com

Flight Information

Schedule changes may occur between time of booking and time of departure. It is always recommended to re-confirm your flight at least 24 hours prior to travel. You can view all of your flight information at www.checkmytrip.com - you will need to enter your airline booking number (PNR) in the booking reference field and your last name as well as your first and middle name (together with no space in the first name field). NOTE: Not all Aer Lingus flights are on checkmytrip.com. You will need to visit the Aer Lingus website directly www.aerlingus.com

There is no physical ticket or e-ticket provided. The airline confirmation number (PNR) is sufficient for check-in. This is 6 characters found next to your flight information on your documentation.

Note that it is suggested that you arrive at the airport at least 3 hours prior to flight departure for international travel, 3.5 hours if you have a car to return. For domestic travel, arrive approximately 2 hours before your scheduled flight departure. However, it is your responsibility to monitor conditions such as traffic, weather, or anything that may affect your check-in such as traveling during a holiday. Airlines can and will charge fees if they are able to re-schedule missed flights. Be aware that if you miss your outbound flight the airline will consider you a 'NO SHOW' and cancel all subsequent flights.

For a smoother security screening process and an overall better air experience we suggest TSA Pre — a convenient, more efficient security screening process.

Airline Name Correction Fees

Any name correction, including minor spelling corrections, may require the airline reservation to be canceled and re-booked. Reservations are subject to current availability and pricing at the time of re-booking.

Once airline tickets are issued, subsequent corrections will be subject to airline fees which may be as much as the full value of the ticket plus a $50 revision fee per change. Aer Lingus Vacation Store will not be held responsible for the denial of services by a carrier due to any name discrepancy.

Once your package is booked, name changes to another individual are NOT allowed. Vacation packages are not transferable.

Airline Seating

Where possible we will assign seats when complimentary seat assignment options are offered and available. Rules vary by airline as some may or may not allow seat assignments prior to check-in. Some airlines will charge fees for advance seating so it is best to check with the individual carrier as their policies are ever-changing.

Should you wish to obtain seating with additional legroom most airlines charge a fee to upgrade to premium seats. You will need to contact your airline directly to obtain these seats. You will need to provide your flight confirmation number (PNR) which is 6 characters located next to your flight information on your documentation.

Seat assignments are subject to the terms and availability of the individual carrier and are subject to change without notice.

U.S. Immigration Pre-Clearance in Ireland

Dublin and Shannon Airports offer the ultimate time-saving service of U.S. pre-clearance. This means that if you’re flying to the U.S., you can clear not only U.S. immigration, but also full U.S. customs and agriculture controls. The benefit of this is that you can land as a local! You simply collect your baggage at your U.S. arrival airport and get on with your day. The pre-clearance facility, operated by U.S. personnel, is located on the ground floor level of Terminal 2 at Dublin airport and in the departures lounge in Shannon airport. Unfortunately, duty free goods including cigarettes and alcohol can’t be sold on board flights which pre-clear U.S. customs and immigration.

How do I book my Bed & Breakfast accommodations?

Please note: In the event that you cancel your reservation, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to cancel all B&B reservations directly through the B&B voucher booking site:  www.reserveabandb.com     by logging into your B&B account.   By neglecting to do so you will be charged a NO-SHOW fee directly by the B&B property.     If you are experiencing difficulty please  e-mail  your details to  reservations@bandbireland. com  and a member of B&B Ireland staff will assist you.  B&B Ireland is open Monday-Friday 9am/5pm.

UNITED KINGDOM

Upon purchase of your B&B vouchers, please visit the following website to determine what your accommodation options are in the area(s) you’ll be visiting, and where you would like to stay:  www.circlehotels.co.uk . You must request your accommodations as far in advance as possible for the best chances of securing your desired locations (minimum of 45 days in advance of travel). You will need to provide your name, location of each property desired, dates of stay & number of nights booked, email address, mobile phone number, names & ages of each guest, and type of room required (double/twin/single/etc). Present the individual vouchers you receive from The Circle for each property at the time of check-in.Check-in (unless otherwise specified) is between 4pm and 6pm (unless otherwise specified). Late arrivals (after 6pm) are only available when pre-approved by the B&B host. Check-out is no later than 11am.

Please note: In the event that you cancel your reservation, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to cancel all B&B reservations directly with The Circle.

During Your Vacation

For packages that include transfers from/to airport/hotel - if you deviate from the trip arrival/departure dates you have chosen to forfeit the included transfers and are responsible for making your own way to/from hotel/airport.

Late Arrivals

It is your responsibility to arrive on time for all scheduled flights, cruises, and package components. Latecomers may lose their seat assignments or be denied boarding at their own expense. Arriving late may be considered a 'no-show' with no refund for unused services and an automatic cancellation for all continuing and return flights.

If you are delayed and will be arriving late to your destination please contact the vendor directly (car rental company, hotel, B&B, etc) or contact Aer Lingus Vacation Store. Be aware that even though you miss a day or two at the start of your trip you will pick up your itinerary as scheduled and your return date remains the same as originally scheduled. Missed days are not refundable. If you have purchased Travel Protection please reference the plan benefits to determine if you are eligible for a claim.

Car Rentals

All car rentals are subject to the rules and regulations of the car rental company. Late returns are subject to charges/penalties paid by the renter dirctly to the car rental company.

Your car rental covers one (1) driver. There is a fee to add additional drivers.

Car rental companies require drivers to provide a valid driver's license, major credit card (Discover card is NOT accepted), and meet a minimum age requirement. Some countries may require an International Driver's Permit.

Additional fees may apply for changes in rental duration, drop off locations, additional drivers, underage drivers, and optional additional insurance coverages.

For Ireland packages, VIP Insurance (CDW - Collision Damage Waiver) may be purchased from Aer Lingus Vacation Store prior to departure at a discounted rate. Declining this plan will result with the rental company, Dan Dooley, placing a 3,000 Euro hold on a credit card until the car is returned undamaged.

Hertz rental cars (in the UK, Italy, France) that include Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) have a deductible. The deductible amount can be lowered by purchasing Super CDW or zero escess insurance at the time of pick-up. It is the travler's responsibility to pay for any additional, optional insurance.

Rates exclude gas, optional insurance coverage, and some applicable taxes and surcharges. Please see our Terms & Conditions for details regarding supplemental fees.

Travelers are responsible for becoming familiar with local traffic laws and road signs. Aer Lingus Vacation Store is not responsible for any expenses, fines, or administrative fees for traffic violations, tolls, damage to the vehicle, and theft of items inside the vehicle or the vehicle itself.

Aer Lingus Vacation Store will not refund for car rentals not used.

Electricity

Outside of the US electric voltages will differ from those at home and adapters may be required. Please visit the website for the International Electrotechnical Commission .

As you do at home, it is important that you take precautions when traveling. Some travelers keep items such as money and passports in a money belt hidden under their clothing.

Important items such as wallets and purses should be kept out of sight — in front of your body or inside pockets. Carry your handbag and backpacks around the front of your body.

Check-in: Check-in at most hotels is mid-afternoon. If you arrive early most hotels can store your luggage while you go have a meal or browse the local area.

A single supplement secures privacy, it does not secure a larger room. In fact, outside of the States some single rooms are, in fact, smaller rooms with 1 bed.

Triple rooms are often rooms accommodated for two people with a roll away or cot to accommodate the third person.

Please see the front desk for any questions or concerns during your stay as they can assist you on the spot. Politeness and a smile are universally understood and generally most helpful when seeking to resolve any issues!

Personal Hotel Expenses

Any additional costs incurred during your stay at hotels (for example laundry, telephone calls, bar bills, etc) are your responsibility. We suggest settling your account on the evening before leaving to ensure a smooth and speedy departure the following morning.

Local City Taxes

When staying overnight in some countries, some cities have a tourist tax. This tax must be paid by you direclty to the hotel upon check-out.

Rental Cars

Please have your rental car voucher ready. A credit card is required upon pick up for the security deposit (many international car rental depost will NOT accept Debit Cards or Discover Cards for payment or deposit). Credit card MUST be in the name of the designated driver.

Designated driver MUST be a licensed driver.

Possible supplemental fees apply for young or older drivers.

In large cities many of our clients have found it easier to park the car at their hotel and use public transportation to travel to the city center as parking can be challenging.

Personal Expenses and Shopping

Don't forget to budget! Naturally, you will want to take back home a few souvenirs and gifts of the places you visited — it is fun and part of the travel Experience.

Keeping Connected

Making phone calls.

Phoning home from another country can be expensive. All hotels will add a service charge to the cost of any phone calls you make from your room.

It is suggested that you contact your phone carrier to find out what international plan options are available to you. Also, there are mobile messaging APPS such as WhatsApp that will enable you to exchange messages without having to pay for SMS.

Many hotels offer free WiFi in public areas and WiFi in rooms (often for an additional charge). Also, internet cafés are found in many cities throughout the world.

Not Included In Your Vacation Price

Some fees which are not included in your vacation package may be the following: parking, tolls, traffic tickets, public transportation, Local City Tax, passports, visas, vaccinations, tips to your Tour or Cruise Director, Local Host, Driver, Local Guides, and/or ships' crew, gratuities on ferries, trains, and cruise ships, laundry, telephone, minibar, alcohol, beverages, and food (outside of the meals specifically listed under your trip inclusions), optional excursions, airport transfers on non-qualifying flights, porterage at airports and train stations, Travel Protection premiums, excess baggage fees, and all other items not specifically mentioned.

Emergency Assistance

Pre-departure assistance:.

Should you require assistance prior to departure, please contact our office here in the US: (855) 348-0351 — during non-business hours please listen to the prompts to reach our after-hours voicemail if you are traveling within the next 72 hours.

Im travelling from Dublin to Malaga next week and have tried to add API but the option is no longer available under manage my booking.

Has there been a change regarding API such as it no longer being neccessary?

I have contacted aer lingus but still no reply after 72hrs

Phone them. They can accept the API over the phone.

travel information aer lingus

It's still required. It should ask for it when you check in online. If you're not checking in online they'll take it at the airport.

They always ask for it when booking flights to Spain.

>>> i just said that aerlingus RARELY ask for api <<<

ive always had to input the API before with aer lingus

then again ive never flown with them from Dublin before

as i said before, technically it is required for all flights , but for whatever reason, aerlingus dont bother. maybe spain requires if for all incoming flights , but in this case either by accident or deliberately, aerlingus have not asked for it. therefore, if not down as a requirement, you cant provide it.

however, if the op wants to double check, all he needs to do is lift the phone.

Irish air carrier to begin flights to Las Vegas

Seasonal round-trip service will bring the Irish air carrier based in Dublin to Harry Reid International Airport.

Elvis Presley impersonator Ciarán Houlihan with Aer Lingus cabin crew members Wendy Seong and ...

Aer Lingus, the flag-carrier airline of Ireland known for the shamrock in its livery, will begin three-times-weekly seasonal nonstop flights between Dublin and Las Vegas in October.

The airline announced the new route Tuesday.

When service begins Oct. 25, the airline will fly round trips on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays through April 29.

Aer Lingus plans to use a twin-engine, 317-passenger Airbus A330-300 jet on the route.

“Aer Lingus is bringing this iconic destination to customers seeking an escape to the winter sun,” Aer Lingus CEO Lynn Embleton said in a release. “In addition to the warm climate, Las Vegas is renowned for being one of the greatest entertainment capitals in the world, famous for its shows, concerts, sports events and natural wonders. It is a long-held ambition of ours to fly to Las Vegas. The launch of this new Aer Lingus route is a significant moment for us and our customers.”

Dublin will become the 20th international destination — the eighth overseas — served from Harry Reid International Airport, and Aer Lingus will be the 19th international carrier to fly to Las Vegas’ airport.

Flights will leave Dublin at 3:20 p.m. local time, and arrive in Las Vegas at 5:50 p.m. Las Vegas time. The return trip will leave at 7:35 p.m., and arrive the next day at 1:10 p.m.

Passengers on the Aer Lingus flights from Dublin will be able to use the U.S. pre-clearance facilities at Dublin Airport, allowing them to complete all necessary immigration and customs checks prior to departure.

“On behalf of all of Las Vegas, we couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome Aer Lingus to Las Vegas for the very first time,” said Steve Hill, president and CEO of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority in a release.

“In 2023, our city welcomed more than 52,000 visitors from Ireland, and this direct, nonstop service from Dublin will undoubtedly be motivation for Irish travelers and visitors throughout the UK and Europe to discover everything Las Vegas has to offer. We congratulate Aer Lingus on this expansion and look forward to a very successful partnership. ”

Las Vegas Just Got Flights to This Major European Destination

Round-trip fares to Dublin are on sale for under $550.

Las Vegas will soon get another European route this fall.

Starting Oct. 25, Irish carrier Aer Lingus will launch 3x weekly service between Dublin and Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas, announced Tuesday . The airline will fly its widebody Airbus A330-300 aircraft, the largest in its fleet, which can seat up to 317 passengers.

Aer Lingus will operate the seasonal service through April 29, 2025, with the following schedule:

  • Las Vegas (LAS) to Dublin (DUB): 7:35 p.m. to 1:10 p.m. (+1)
  • Dublin (DUB) to Las Vegas (LAS): 3:20 p.m. to 5:50 p.m.

To celebrate the new flight, Aer Lingus is offering introductory round-trip fares for under $550 on its website .

"Aer Lingus is bringing this iconic destination to Irish customers seeking an escape to the winter sun," said CEO of Aer Lingus, Lynne Embleton, in a statement. "In addition to the warm climate, Las Vegas is renowned for being one of the greatest entertainment capitals in the world, famous for its shows, concerts, sports events, and natural wonders.”

Dublin will become the sixth European city accessible to travelers based in Las Vegas, following existing services to Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London, Manchester, and Zurich. Likewise, Aer Lingus says its Dublin hub will serve as a gateway for passengers visiting from Ireland or elsewhere in its European network by offering seamless connections.

In total, Aer Lingus operates more than a dozen nonstop flights between the U.S. and Ireland and has seen particular success from smaller cities like Cleveland and Minneapolis .

When flying home from Ireland, traveling via Dublin Airport is a breeze as it houses a “U.S. Preclearance” facility in Terminal 2. This unique facility allows passengers to clear U.S. security and customs even before flying home, saving up to two hours in travel time, according to the airport.

How to transfer your Avios between British Airways, Qatar Airways, Finnair, Iberia and Aer Lingus accounts

A vios is the currency used by the British Airways Executive Club , Iberia Plus, Finnair Plus , Aer Lingus AerClub and Qatar Airways Privilege Club loyalty programs. You can earn and redeem Avios if you have a frequent flyer account with any (or all) of these airlines.

You can transfer Avios between any of these programs at a rate of 1:1, so 1 British Airways Avios is worth 1 Qatar Airways Avios and vice versa. Depending on the award redemption, you may wish to transfer your Avios between the different programs because Avios has slightly different values within each program.

For example, Reward Flight Savers are available with Avios using British Airways Executive Club but not Iberia Plus. Meanwhile, you can leverage Iberia Plus to get a great deal on off-peak business-class awards from the U.S. to Madrid.

Similarly, you may find lower prices, fees and taxes when booking a long-haul Iberia-operated flight with Avios in your Iberia Plus account than your British Airways Executive Club account.

Previously, Avios.com was a handy platform you could use to move Avios around multiple programs. However, this platform no longer functions as efficiently as it once did, so a little extra effort is required to move Avios between accounts.

So, how exactly can you move your Avios around? Let's take a closer look.

Related: Move over, British Airways — Finnair Plus now has some excellent Avios sweet spots

Move Avios to and from British Airways Executive Club

This page on the British Airways website allows you to transfer your Avios to or from your British Airways Executive Club account and your Iberia Plus, Finnair Plus, Qatar Airways Privilege Club and Aer Lingus AerClub accounts by following the link to the various programs you want to combine.

Remember, your personal details for the two accounts you are trying to move Avios between must match, so ensure they are up to date before attempting the transfer.

Transfers are at a 1:1 rate and can be made in any direction at any time, so you are not locked into one Avios program once you have made your transfer.

Move Avios to and from Qatar Airways Privilege Club

You can move Avios between Qatar Airways and British Airways only on the British Airways website . Once your accounts are linked, you can transfer Avios back and forth between the two programs in either direction at a 1:1 rate as often as you like.

You'll need to log in to your Qatar Airways Privilege Club account, so make sure the details match correctly.

If you have Avios with Aer Lingus, Iberia and/or Finnair and want to transfer them to Qatar Airways, you'll first need to transfer them to British Airways.

Move Avios to and from Finnair Plus

As the newest program to adopt Avios as its loyalty currency, Finnair Plus now enables members to transfer Avios to and from the British Airways Executive Club program. The process is the same as Qatar Airways Privilege Club. On the same transfer page, you simply select Finnair Plus as the program you wish to transfer to or from. Link your account by logging into Finnair Plus, and Avios can be moved back and forth at a 1:1 rate.

Again, if your Avios are in Iberia Plus, Aer Lingus AerClub or Qatar Airways Privilege Club, you will need to move them to British Airways Executive Club first before you can move them to Finnair Plus (or vice versa).

Move Avios to and from Iberia Plus

Avios can be moved to or from Iberia Plus via British Airways Executive Club or Aer Lingus AerClub by visiting the Iberia Plus landing page .

You'll need to log into your Iberia Plus account and link your British Airways or Aer Lingus account to ensure your accounts match correctly.

Move Avios to and from Aer Lingus AerClub

In our tests, the Aer Lingus AerClub program was the most difficult program to move Avios between because the Avios.com platform no longer functions properly.

While you should be able to move Avios to or from Aer Lingus AerClub, Iberia Plus and British Airways Executive Club through the British Airways platform , the AerClub link may not work.

If you are receiving an error message, try completing the process in a different browser or incognito mode. If all else fails, call Aer Club at 855-585-8264 to see if a representative can move the Avios manually for you.

Other ways to earn Avios

If you need to top off your Avios for a specific redemption, here are some easy ways to earn the popular award currency.

Transfer credit card points

You can transfer your credit card points to Avios-based programs and combine them using the above method. Here are your transfer options:

  • American Express Membership Rewards : Aer Lingus AerClub, British Airways Executive Club and Iberia Plus
  • Bilt Rewards : Aer Lingus AerClub, British Airways Executive Club and Iberia Plus
  • Capital One : British Airways Executive Club and Finnair Plus
  • Chase Ultimate Rewards : Aer Lingus AerClub, British Airways Executive Club and Iberia Plus
  • Wells Fargo Rewards : Aer Lingus AerClub, British Airways Executive Club and Iberia Plus
  • Marriott Bonvoy : Aer Lingus AerClub, British Airways Executive Club and Iberia Plus

These transfers are at a 1:1 rate, except for Marriott Bonvoy. Marriott transfers are at a 3:1 rate, with a 5,000-Avios bonus offered for every 60,000 Marriott Bonvoy points you transfer (60,000 points becomes 25,000 Avios, for example).

Take advantage of credit card welcome offers

The best way to increase your Avios is through welcome offer bonuses from credit cards. Three Avios programs have their own Chase credit cards :

  • Aer Lingus Visa Signature® Card
  • British Airways Visa Signature® Card
  • Iberia Visa Signature® Card

Each card has the same welcome offer: Earn 85,000 Avios after you spend $5,000 on purchases within the first three months of account opening. Additionally, each card has the same $95 annual fee.

If you would rather earn Qatar Airways Privilege Club Avios, Cardless now offers two Qatar-branded credit cards , including the Qatar Airways Privilege Club Visa Signature Credit Card, which has a $99 annual fee and a welcome offer of up to 40,000 Avios — 20,000 Avios after the first transaction and an additional 20,000 Avios after spending $3,000 in the first 90 days.

There is also the Qatar Airways Privilege Club Visa Infinite Credit Card, with a $499 annual fee and a welcome offer of up to 50,000 Avios — 25,000 Avios after the first transaction and an additional 25,000 Avios and 150 Qpoints after spending $5,000 in the first 90 days. This card also comes with Privilege Club Gold status.

The information for the Qatar Airways Privilege Club Visa Infinite and Signature Cards has been collected independently by The Points Guy. The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer.

If Finnair Avios is your preferred currency, you can transfer Capital One miles to Finnair Plus.

Here's a list of some currently available consumer cards that earn transferable Capital One miles :

  • Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card
  • Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card
  • Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card

If you're looking for a business card, here are some options that earn Capital One miles:

  • Capital One Venture X Business
  • Capital One Spark Miles for Business
  • Capital One Spark Miles Select for Business

The information for the Capital One Spark Miles Select has been collected independently by The Points Guy. The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer.

Bottom line

While following these steps to move Avios between programs might initially seem complicated, it's worth the effort for the excellent flexibility and value you now have in using Avios in so many ways. For award travelers, it's beneficial to be able to transfer Avios in any direction an unlimited number of times at no additional cost.

If you want to focus on only one Avios program, British Airways Executive Club is a safe bet. It's the largest program and has the easiest-to-use technology. However, there are sweet spots in each program, so if you have a redemption in mind, consider which option will get you the best value for your rewards.

Ideally, a single platform would be available to link all five Avios programs and allow transfers to every program in one place. Unfortunately, until such a platform exists, you'll need to follow these steps to move your Avios where you need them.
