Classic but make it comfy! This dynamic duo not only offers a timeless and polished look but also comes with a range of benefits that make navigating airports, flights, and new destinations a breeze. When it comes to picking out leggings I always have the best luck when purchasing quality over quantity.

For instance, I’ve had my Lululemon leggings for 7 years now and they still look new (wear roughly 1-2 a week). Really. It’s best to invest in pieces you know you will wear over and over. Additionally, I’ve recently fallen in love with the Alo Leggings for travel. And if you’re looking for a pair to hold it all in consider the Spanx leggings . As for the oversized button-down, I tend to find good ones at Zara and H&M since these pieces truly only last a few seasons. Pro tip: size up your button-down for an oversized fit.

MUST-HAVE LEGGINGS:

Knit Joggers + Graphic Tee

This combination airs more on the casual side but is a favorite of mine. This airport outfit is perfect for those red-eye flights since we need all the comfort to help us sleep. Finding the perfect pair of knit joggers is not easy. I’ve added my favorite ones below to help you decide. Furthermore, I always find the best graphic tees at Abercrombie.

Finally, you can pair this look low with slip-on sneakers, a baseball cap , and an oversized jacket to pull it all together. Don’t forget to pack your eye mask to get some shut-eye.

A little more on the trendy side but this combo is perfect for those warm summer temps. I’m obsessed with these biker shorts from Alo . They are the best quality and come in over 10 colors. You can easily pair this look with an oversized sweatshirt (blazer if you want to be super on-trend), sneakers , and a baseball cap to pull it all together.

Who wants to wear a dress on a plane? Not me! Another easy way to put together a stylish airport outfit without actually trying is to invest in a comfortable jumpsuit. You can easily pair this with cute sneakers , an oversized denim jacket, and a scarf (that doubles as a blanket on the plane) to pull it all together. It may be a bit difficult traveling in a jumpsuit when it comes to using the bathroom, but anything to look cute, right?

It’s always smart to have a hat on hand because you never know what kind of bad hair days you will run into when traveling. This is the perfect way to combat those unexpected days and stay incognito on your flight if you don’t want to chat it up with your neighbor.

Whenever I’m traveling, I want to be as comfortable as possible since there is usually a lot of walking involved. Skip the heels and opt for a chic pair of comfortable shoes for your trip. You’ll be happy you did!

Airport Accessories Must-Haves

If you’re wondering what kind of accessories to pack for your travel day, I got you covered! Firstly, for those early morning/red-eye flights consider packing cat-eye sunglasses to hide those tired eyes. Next, a good pair of socks to keep your feet warm on the plane. A pair of affordable noise-canceling headphones go a long way in the airport. Finally, I never leave for a trip without my portable backup chargers .

Now that Halloween has come and gone, the holiday season is officially upon us. Thanks to the festive time of year, which is filled with its family get-togethers and celebrations, there’s a good chance you have a full calendar from now until New Year’s Eve. And if your family is in a different area of the state or country (or world!) from you, then you’re probably also have at least a flight or two in the weeks ahead—and if you’re anything like us, comfortable airport outfits (that are also chic, of course) are an absolute must.

Look, we could always turn to our favorite T-shirt and jeans combo for a quick 2-hour flight , or even a coordinated sweatsuit ensemble for those longer trips. However, there’s something about to be said about looking put-together for any occasion—including your jet rides across the country.

So, are you with us? To help you plan out an airport outfit that’s both stylish and comfortable, we pulled together looks from our favorite It girls for sartorial inspiration. Check them all out below.

Let's face it: When you’re about to embark on a six-plus-hour intercontinental flight and your body is buzzing with anxiety at the thought of potential delays, missed connections, and lost luggage, piecing together a stylish outfit is probably the least of your concerns. Factor in the near-impossible feat of sleeping upright on a plane and tolerating snoring seat mates, and it feels necessary to prioritize comfort on long-haul flights.

While matching sweatsuits are one (beloved) way to go, there are plenty of options in the way of loungewear these days. Pieces made of finely woven knits that feel as soft as a cloud, compression fabrics that prevent swelling, and buttery cashmere travel blankets that you can cocoon yourself in are among the ones we recommend for overnight or otherwise lengthy flights. I admit, the clothing is some of the softest I've ever worn, which certainly sets itself apart from more traditional activewear brands like Nike or Adidas. Try Vuori's joggers, shorts, and super-soft tees for an outfit that feels like pajamas, but looks respectable enough for the airport lounge .

Outdoor Voices

When warm weather is in the forecast, the exercise dress comes back out. Often designed with shorts underneath and a built-in bra, the practical, sweat-wicking one-pieces are a great multi-purpose vacation outfit: Wear one on the plane with a jean jacket layered on top, then break it out again for a pickleball game or afternoon walking around to see the sights. Cozy Earth's bamboo joggers received the media mogul's official seal of approval in 2020, by way of her Favorite Things list, and after trying them on ourselves, we understand why. The mix of premium viscose from bamboo, acrylic, and Spandex produces a super smooth, cool-to-the-touch fabric that'll make you feel like you're wrapped in your favorite set of sheets. Spun from the finest goat hair, Naadam’s 100 percent Mongolian cashmere basics are so ridiculously soft, it feels like a luxurious blanket that you can wear out in public—and on transcontinental flights. The built-in perks of cashmere include high breathability, and anti-wrinkle and odor-blocking benefits. The brand's tailored sweaters and hoodies will keep you comfy without looking unkempt.

Creating Chic Travel Outfits

Who doesn’t love going on vacation and traveling to a new destination? I know I definitely do!

But while I love exploring new places, I also know that travel days can be pretty hectic! It’s important to be prepared with comfortable outfits you can easily spend the day in while navigating airports or sitting in rental cars. 

If you’re in need of fashionable and functional travel outfits, you’ll love my looks below. I have airport outfits for every style and season, so whether you’re traveling to a tropical paradise or a winter wonderland, you’ll be set!

denim jacket + a puffer vest

get the look:

Layers are a must if you’re traveling in the fall or winter! I love starting my travel ensemble with basics like my Lululemon Align leggings and oversized Jil Sander tee (more affordable option here ) , then layering as needed.

Above, I added my Madewell denim jacket and Quince puffer vest to keep me warm and cozy both on and off the plane!

An oversized tee and black leggings are the start of my airport outfit here as well, but this time, I’m staying warm with a sleek and modern bomber jacket .

I recommend choosing an outfit like this when it’s a little warmer out. The jacket is perfect for staying warm in a cold airport but can easily be removed as needed. And, these New Balance 574 sneakers are so comfortable!

linen pants + a denim jacket

Drawstring linen pants are an absolute essential in my spring and summer wardrobe! They are so comfortable and easy to wear during a travel day, and the denim jacket is stylish and adds a layer of warmth – airplane AC is always so intense!

I love this Quince phone crossbody  for convenience (it fits a passport too) . And I always recommend wearing sneakers or other comfy footwear when traveling – bonus points if your shoes can be easily slipped off and on when going through security!

Looking for the ultimate cozy travel outfit?

Leggings and Ugg Tasman slippers are definitely my go-to for comfort in the cooler months (the Uggs have been selling out constantly, so here’s a perfect high-quality Tasman dupe ) . And a long wool camel coat is not only chic but also perfect for layering – it doubles as a blanket on the plane!

I also love this long knitted coatigan from Mango as a great travel piece.

I love simple, neutral outfits because they always look effortless and stylish. A plain white tee and black linen drawstring pants are ultra-comfy but still have a chic, put-together aesthetic.

This outfit is great for summer traveling, but I always bring a sweater with me so I don’t get too cold on the plane.

This is another cold-weather travel outfit that I love! Lululemon fleece joggers and a crewneck sweatshirt are great base layers and the bomber jacket adds an extra cozy feel. 

And if you ask me, this ensemble has a laid-back, sporty feel, making adidas Samba sneakers and a baseball cap the perfect finishing touch!

Such a chic and neutral-toned coat is a must if you’re traveling to or from somewhere chilly. And this coat will look great while keeping you cozy everywhere from the airplane to local cafes to must-see landmarks!

And in my opinion, a dress is a great piece to bring along on your vacation. You can style it casually as you travel or when checking out local spots at your destination, and it can easily be transformed into a chic date night look with a high-end handbag and some gold-toned jewelry.

You'll even find work-appropriate garments, like trousers, poplin shirts, and blazers that feel like athleisure wear. The prices can be steep, but you can often strike gold in the discounted " We Made Too Much " section.

Lululemon launched its uber-popular, borderline-famous Align Pant in 2015. While we certainly like the original, the pocketed version is ideal for travel — and it's made with the same buttery-soft fabric and super-wide, high-rise waistband. As a travel writer, my suitcase is nearly always half-packed. Long flights demand comfort, but new sights and cities demand style . A packing list comprised of versatile dresses, flowy pants, maxi skirts, and breezy shirts can go a long way — literally. Dresses give you plenty of bang for your buck when it comes to traveling. For one, they tend to be flexible compared to other clothing items: You can dress them up or down more effectively to target a specific dress code. How to Pack the Best Travel Clothes

When building your travel wardrobe, you’ll want to consider factors like trip duration, climate, and more. Do you want year-round items or would you rather commit to rotating your staples seasonally? Will you have access to laundry? (If not, you’ll want to opt for fabrics that wick away odor and sweat so you can get multiple wears out of each item.) Are there sights or situations that have etiquette requirements and dress codes requiring a certain amount of coverage? 

Some personal guidance as a travel expert: Many packing guides might swear by a neutral, minimalist capsule wardrobe for ultimate frequency of wear, but you shouldn’t be afraid to go maximalist either. Traveling through the air comes with a massive set of rules and regulations, and you don't want to make it any more complicated than it already is. Outside of the mandated policies put into place by TSA and airports, there are unwritten practices that should help you as well. For example, you're going to have a tougher time going to the bathroom if you're wearing a romper or onesie, and if you're wearing sandals at the airport, you probably haven't thought about all of those germs... yuck.

A Brand New Outfit Isn't The Best Bet

As tempting as it might be, the last thing you want to do is sport a brand new outfit you plan to wear out on the plane. If you purchased the new clothing specifically for the flight, that's a different story.

What you don't want to wear on the flight is an outfit that you bought to look your best while on your trip. Keep the fresh threads packed and save them for after you arrive.

Really, You're Wearing Heels?

This should be a no-brainer, but we'll include it. You don't want to run late for your flight with a pair of high heels on, or you might end up rolling an ankle sprinting to your boarding gate.

Wear your favorite comfortable sneakers, and if you must look sharp stepping off the plane at your destination, keep the heels in your carry-on bag. That way, you'll be able to take off your shoes and slip into the fancy option.

Be Careful Of Shorts!

If you're on your way to a hotter climate, it might sound like a bright idea to put on some shorts for your journey. Sure, they're comfortable, but you have to remember the climate in the airport and mid-flight.

Planes become cold, and the person next to you might turn their air vent on full blast, making you colder. Your best bet would be to throw on some warmer clothes while you fly the friendly skies.

Uncomfortable Fabrics Aren't Fun

While wool tops might be stylish, they aren't the best to wear while traveling via airplane. That goes for any uncomfortable fabric that might cause you to itch or feel out of place.

You don't have much room in your seat (unless you went for first-class), so why would you want to make it less enjoyable? A regular cotton sweater will get the job done, so you can save the fashionable attire for after you land.

You Can Do Without The Pajamas

Wearing your pajamas to the airport and on your flight might sound like a great idea for you, but what about the passengers? You're bound to get a handful of stares walking down the aisle wearing your PJs.

Your best bet will be athletic attire if you want to retain some comfort. Since athleisure attire is a pretty big trend at the moment, you can't wrong sporting that style for your air travels. You might even get a few compliments on your outfit.

Save The Tight Clothes For Later

Even if your flight is only one hour, it'd be best not to put on tight clothes. Much like with uncomfortable fabric, tight clothes in close-knit spaces isn't the best idea.

Did you know that your feet naturally swell while flying? That's one reason to ditch the tight boots you thought you'd wear. Also, the longer the flight, the more irritable you could become, and you don't want that crying baby or loud passenger to ruin your mood.

Are You Thinking About Traveling In Flip Flops?

We understand that flips flops provide an extra level of comfort for your feet, which would make them a great option while flying, but being aware of others would be more considerate. Do you think everyone likes the sight of feet?

Also, who knows if your feet won't start to smell unexpectedly. Wearing flip flops sounds good on paper, but once you do it, you're bound to receive some type of flagging energy from others around you. Not to mention all of the germs around the airport and plane.

The sparkles or bell might seem harmless, but if they're made of metal, you're going to end up setting off the detector. Do you want to take off your whole top before going through the machine? Probably not.

Reconsider Leggings Depending On The Airline You Fly With

Leggings are one of the most in-demand fashion options. Men, women, and kids all like to sport the comfortable style no matter where they're headed. If you're flying with United Airlines, we think you might want to reconsider.

Not long ago, the airline kicked two girls off for wearing leggings. Their rules to general customers allow them to refuse traveling "for passengers who are barefoot or not properly clothed." We're telling you to read guidelines before you hop on a flight.

Too Much Baggy Clothing Stirs Suspicion

Yes, it's a smart idea to wear loose clothing that is comfortable while traveling but don't overdo it. A loose-fitting top won't bring much attention your way, but if your whole outfit looks like a clown suit, then prepare for some suspicion.

You don't want TSA to have another reason to pull you aside for a check, potentially putting you at risk of missing your flight! Figure out the best balance of not too baggy and you'll be fine.

Don't Do The One Piece...

Having a difficult time using the restroom isn't fun when you're attempting to get to your flight or even if you're already on the plane. It's especially rough when you're in the air, and the bathrooms don't give you much room to operate.

Take the smart route and wear pants that can easily slide down. Who wants to take off the majority of their outfit when they have to relieve themselves? It's even more inconvenient in a public bathroom.

Save Your Nice Jewels For Later

We know you probably look fabulous in that new watch, or necklace you own. The thing is, you're about to be in the air for an extended period of time, so you don't need to sport all your nicest jewelry.

Not only will you have an easier time getting through security, but you'll also have a better chance to keep things safe. Unless you wish to have added attention and a difficult time getting through metal detectors, keep your favorite jewels locked and packed away, or better yet, at home!

Keep The Smells Light

If you're sitting on a long flight, one of the last things you want is a strong alcohol fragrance entering your nostrils the whole way. That's what happens when someone decides to spray too much cologne or perfume on their body.

One or two sprays is all you should apply when you're about to fly on a plane. Carrying around a strong scent isn't appealing to those around you, even if it's their favorite smell!

Consider Putting On Your Glasses

If you wear contacts and glasses, your best bet will be the glasses while traveling through the air. You might also want to consider leaving your contact kit at home as well, so it's less of a hassle.

Since airplanes can get pretty dry, the humidity won't be kind to your eyes while wearing contacts. Its easier to take off and put on your bifocals as well, so it's overall a better decision in the long run.

Save The Larger Handbags For Later

If it completes your outfit, then you might have a hard time denying this one, but hear us out, please. A larger than average handbag that isn't a duffel doesn't need to be on your person while flying.

For one, you're taking up space. You need all the room you can get in the tight seating. Secondly, you won't be susceptible to folks trying to steal. The bigger your bag, the easier it is for theft.

If You Don't Layer, Watchout

While traveling, you'll want to have an option of adjusting layers for different temperatures. Whether you're going from a cold climate to a warm one, or you're in for a heavy day of moving around, your clothing choices can help out a lot.

If you layer up, you can decide to take something off it gets too hot or if you're on the run when you get to your destination. Conversely, if it's cold, you're already in luck!

Skip The Religious Attire

This one is more about being sensitive to others and less about your personal and religious views. You can feel free to praise whoever you wish, but try to keep it on your terms, like when you're at church.

Walking through the airport then boarding the plane with attire focused on religion can be offensive to some. You never know who might disagree with what you believe in and how it could affect them. Also, if you're traveling to some Asian countries, they won't let you in if you have a shirt or tattoo of a Buddha.

Is The Oversized Coat Needed?

Okay, unless you're headed to Alaska in the winter or any other place that's unbelievably cold, you don't need to wear an oversized coat on the plane. It lessens your mobility and the space you have.

You don't want to impair your movement or give yourself any less room to move around. If it means packing an extra bag to fit your large jacket, you might have to do it or sacrifice the freedom we mentioned.

Nvidia has overtaken Apple to become the world's second most valuable public company.

The AI microchip maker's share price has risen to be worth more than $3trn (£2.34trn) for the first time. 

Only Microsoft is a more valuable company listed on a stock exchange, while Apple has fallen into third place.

Nvidia shares rose 5% after a year of growth - with one share now costing $1,224.40 (£957).

Nvidia's chips are powering much of the rush into AI, which has seen it become a poster child of the AI boom.

Demand for its processors from the likes of Google, Microsoft and Facebook owner Meta have been outstripping supply. 

Nvidia's shares - up nearly 150% so far this year - are also being boosted by an upcoming move to split its stock by 10-to-one on Friday. 

Ian Coatsworth, investment analyst at AJ Bell, said the stock split will "bring its share price down and make it more affordable to investors". 

Tech companies - including Microsoft and Apple - have been racing to develop AI and embed it in their products.

Nvidia is a younger company than some of its peers, having been founded in 1993. Similar to many tech giants, it was founded in California in the US.

Britain is less likely to lose power this winter than it was last year, according to the company that runs the grid.

National Grid's Electricity System Operator (ESO) said it expects power plants, wind farms and other generation methods to be able to provide more than enough power to meet demand this time around. 

In an early outlook, it said the grid would have an average margin - the difference between supply of electricity and demand for it - of 5.6 gigawatts (GW) this coming winter. 

This means the period when demand might outstrip supply is just 0.1 hours.

The increased margins are in part because of improved capacity, thanks to a new 765km high-voltage cable that connects the UK's electricity network with Denmark.

The cable, called an interconnector, is known as the Viking Link, and started transporting wind power between the two countries in December.

New gas generation, growth in battery storage capacity and increased generation connected to the distribution networks have also contributed to the higher margins. 

Despite this, ESO's chief operating officer Kayte O'Neill has said it will still need to be "vigilant" due to uncertainties around global energy markets.

"As a prudent system operator we remain vigilant, continuing to monitor potential risks and working closely with our partners to establish any actions necessary to build resilience," she said.

The continent's energy system has been forced to reinvent itself in recent years, faced with potential gas shortages due to the war in Ukraine.

The 20 countries using the euro currency have seen interest rates cut from record highs following progress in the battle against inflation over the past two-and-a-half years.

The Frankfurt-based European Central Bank (ECB) said it was "appropriate" to trim its main deposit rate from 4% to 3.75%.

It followed an assertion last month by its president, Christine Lagarde, that the pace of price increases was now "under control".

But the Bank declared in a statement that the battle was not won - signalling data-driven caution on future policy decisions in the months ahead.

Its staff even revised upwards their forecasts for inflation this year and next.

As we have been discussing in Money this week, the cut before the US and UK could weaken the euro - potentially making Britons' holiday money go further.

McVitie's is selling a new flavour of Jaffa Cake - and it marks the first ever non-fruit flavour since the treat launched in 1927.

Shelves across the country will soon be stocked cola bottle flavoured cakes.

The new flavour will launch in Asda stores from 10 June and be available in other UK supermarkets - including Tesco, Sainsbury's, Morrisons, Iceland and Co-op - in the coming weeks.

Adam Woolf, marketing director at McVitie's, said: "Jaffa Cakes Cola Bottle is certainly one of our more unexpected product launches – stepping away from fruit flavours for the very first time. 

"Jaffa Cakes have always stood out from the crowd (and the biscuit aisle), but we really wanted to try something new with this one. It's no doubt going to cause some debate among our Jaffanatics, and we can't wait to hear what they think."

Are we entering an era of interest rate cuts? Probably not. Or at least, not yet. 

But the European Central Bank (ECB) which controls the euro currency does look set to make their first cut in four years this afternoon. 

And Canada yesterday became the first country in the club of G7 industrialised nations to bring down borrowing costs by lowering their benchmark interest rate. 

The UK, however, isn't currently expected by markets to make a cut until September. 

Elsewhere, oil prices remain below $80 but are slightly more expensive than earlier this week. A barrel of the benchmark Brent crude oil costs $79.10.

The good news for people going on holidays to countries using the euro continues - the pound is still doing well against the currency with £1 equal to €1.1757. 

That could go even higher after the ECB decision at 1.15pm. A pound also can buy $1.2783. 

Like in the US, the UK's most valuable companies have become more valuable as the FTSE (Financial Times Stock Exchange) 100 and 250 indices are up 0.33% and 0.41% respectively.

Can you believe we are almost halfway through 2024?

Although the rate rises that we have seen this year have slowed compared with the previous couple of years, and we have even seen some falls, savers are now able to find hundreds of savings accounts that pay an interest rate higher than inflation.

The latest data from the Office for National Statistics showed inflation was still higher than predicted, however - which means the anticipated base rate cut is likely to be pushed back again – into the second half of this year.

While bad news for borrowers, this is great news for savers.

Incredibly, the latest statistics from the Bank of England show there is over £253bn sitting in current accounts and savings accounts earning no interest at all.

With top rates available paying 5% or even a bit more, that is potentially £12.65bn of gross interest that is not being claimed by savers.

So now really is the time to move your money if you have cash languishing, earning less than inflation, especially if you can lock some away with a fixed rate, as a base rate cut will happen at some stage, we just don't know when.

Easy access

If you think you'll need access to your money, an easy access account is a wise choice.

The base rate cuts that we have been waiting for are yet to start, so the top rates on offer are still paying almost as much as they were at the beginning of the year.

Fixed-term bonds 

There is a strange phenomenon with fixed-term bond rates at the moment: the longer you tie up your cash, the lower the interest rates on offer.

Normally, you'd expect to be rewarded for tying up your cash over the longer term - but base rate forecasts have flipped this.

Fixed-term cash ISAs

A frequent complaint that I hear from savers is that the tax-free rates on ISAs are usually lower than the pre-tax rates on the equivalent non-ISA accounts – and this is particularly true with fixed-term accounts.

As many more savers are paying tax on their interest once again, cash ISAs are more popular than ever, as the tax-free rate of the ISA can still be considerably more than the interest earned after tax has been deducted on the non-ISA bond equivalents.

The renowned "50 Best" list of the world's best restaurants was revealed in Las Vegas last night - with a new restaurant taking top spot.

Disfrutar in Barcelona took the crown from Central in Lima, Peru (previous winners are ineligible and instead join a Best of the Best list).

Eating the standard menu costs £247 (€290) - with an extra £136 (€160) if you want the wine pairing.

To be fair, you do get around 30 courses.

They also offer a unique menu for your table for between €1,050 and €390 per person - the more people, the less it costs.

The 50 Best list says: "The combination of brilliantly imaginative dishes, unsurpassed technical mastery and playful presentation results in the dining experience of a lifetime, as full of surprises as it is memories."

Dishes include:

• Caviar-filled Panchino doughnut
• Frozen gazpacho sandwich
• Thai-style cuttlefish with coconut multi-spherical
• Squab with kombu spaghetti, almond and grape

Two UK restaurants made the top 50 but the UK was eclipsed by countries from across South America as well as Thailand, Italy, France and Spain.

London's Kol moved up slightly to 17, while Ikoyi, which we reported on a few weeks ago following a link-up with Uber Eats, came it at 42.

Three whiskies created by Aldi have been named among the best in the world.

The budget supermarket took home three golds at the International Spirits Challenge awards for: 

• Glen Marnoch Highland Single Scotch Whisky (£18.49, 70cl)
• Highland Earl Blended Scotch Whisky (£16.89, 1L)
• Samuel Joe’s Straight Kentucky Bourbon (£14.99, 70cl)

In the single malt category, Aldi's submission beat the likes of M&S as well as premium brand Lochlea Distillery, which costs around £45 a bottle. 

Other gold winners included Johnnie Walker, Jameson and Glenfiddich. 

Aldi was also given three silver medals for its Highland Black Blended Scotch Whisky, Glen Marnoch Speyside Single Malt Whisky and Glen Marnoch Islay Single Malt Whisky. 

"This industry recognition helps to prove that great quality doesn't have to come with a luxury price tag and customers can be confident they're saving money with us, whilst getting the best whisky taste and experience," said Julie Ashfield, managing director of buying at Aldi UK. 

As we've previously discussed in the Money blog, holidaying Brits can avoid costly roaming charges by using their own travel eSim - and there's now another mainstream option to choose from courtesy of Uswitch.

UK travellers who want to use their phones abroad usually rely on their roaming plans and data passes or sign up for a local SIM at their destination, which can often require time-consuming ID checks and additional documentation.

That can be costly. 

Since Brexit, the UK no longer benefits from several EU-mandated rules, including a worldwide data roaming cap of £45.

Roaming costs, especially in countries outside the EU, can now be as high as £9 for every 1MB of roaming data - equivalent to streaming Netflix for 14.4 seconds.

Using 10GB of data in Morocco on a UK Pay As You Go network with uncapped fees would cost on average of £56,166, compared to just £17 with a USwitch eSim.

eSims are available online and are entirely digital - meaning customers don't need to visit a phone network store or wait for a physical SIM card to arrive in the post.

Most new smartphones are already compatible with eSim technology, including every iPhone released from 2018 onwards and most Samsung devices released from 2020 onwards.

"eSIMs offer them a newfound freedom that's cheaper than traditional data roaming and with none of the hassle of finding a local SIM card provider when you arrive," said CEO and co-founder of (USwitch's partner in this project) eSIM Go Zacchary Couldrick.

Asda has gone from selling the cheapest petrol out of the supermarket chains to now costing the most, according to the latest fuel price figures.

RAC says Asda's big rivals, Morrisons, Sainsbury's and Tesco, all sold a litre of unleaded petrol for 2.1p less on average at the end of May.

Diesel was also coming out costlier at Asda, with the supermarket 2.5p per litre more expensive than the rest of its supermarket competition.

Drivers are being urged - by the RAC - to change their refuelling habits to find the best prices. 

What makes up the cost of a litre of petrol?

The price you pay for fuel at the pumps is governed by wholesale fuel prices, which are affected by several factors.

These include the global price of crude oil, which itself is governed by supply and demand and oil refinery production and capacity.

Distribution costs, fuel duty (currently 52.95p a litre in the UK), VAT (currently at 20%) and profit margins dictated by fuel retailers all come into account when working out why prices of fuel rise and fall.

Fuel duty rate and VAT largely stay the same, though oil prices and the strength of the pound to the US dollar (refined fuel is sold in dollars per metric tonne) can cause prices to be extremely volatile.

How have UK petrol prices changed in the 21st century

Unleaded fuel in 2000 had an average cost of 80.35p, while the average cost of diesel in the same year was 81.73p.

The lowest average cost for unleaded petrol in the last 24 years came in 2002, where the average was 73.5p. Diesel also had its cheapest average cost in this year at 75.6p.

Unsurprisingly, the most expensive average prices for fuel have fallen in recent years. In 2022, the average cost of unleaded fuel was 165.06p and the average cost of diesel was 178.13p.
