The best luggage brands, explained by GQ's globetrotting travel editors
All products are independently selected by our editors. If you buy something, we may earn an affiliate commission.
From nervous, infrequent flyers to veteran businesspeople hardened by dozens of hops on the red-eye, there’s one constant that remains the same with holidaymakers and travellers: the need to invest in a quality suitcase . The sight of passengers hoisting barely held-together tote bags over their shoulders for a long-haul journey gives us the sweats, so we’ve made it our duty to ensure that anyone taking a trip in the next few months is equipped with the best luggage brands that guarantee a smooth experience – at least when it comes to packing and lugging the thing around the airport.
And look, it’s not like you’re unaware of what's available right now. Trip-friendly bags from the likes of Antler, Carl Friedrik, Globe-Trotter and Samsonite are as ubiquitous in any airport as an ill-advised early-morning pint before boarding, but sometimes you just need a nudge in the right direction to find the truly elite options. Our editors have put in the groundwork so you don’t have to, arriving at the absolute best luggage brands that will deck out your travels with the best suitcases, carry-on , luggage tags , passport holders and accessories. Whether you're travelling to New York or New Delhi, read on to check out our top picks.

Which suitcase is better, hard or soft?
The choice between hard-side luggage or soft-sided suitcases will largely hinge on whether you’re checking it in on the plane or carrying it on with you. Hard-sided suitcases offer greater durability to cope with dings, scrapes and knocks that will inevitably happen in transit, keeping your neatly packed clothes secure and protected throughout the journey. The problem is these checked bags are typically heavier which can cause a few headaches when you go to check it in or place it in the overhead bin, so keep that in mind.
Soft shell cases are easier to lug around and are lighter, but miss out on the protective functionality of hard-shell options. In this regard, they're a greater prospect for hold-all luggage or if you’re hopping on trains and buses, as you can squash them down if space is tight over long trips. The carry-on variety of luggage is easier and often cheaper, but worth only worth considering for shorter journeys. It's also worth considering these softside cases will certainly not be water-resistant, so keep that in your thoughts when planning a trip to rainier climes - or literally anywhere in the northwest of Europe.
Regardless of the solidity of your case, we’ll always recommend grabbing a wheeled suitcase, because no one wants to arrive at the gate for their summer holidays drenched in sweat and nursing a dead arm. Wheeled luggage has got significantly better in recent years, with telescopic handles and whisper-quiet, 360-degree spinner wheels for supreme manoeuvrability from check-in to your plane seat.
There are standout backpacks or shoulder bags that bring the sartorial chops you're likely hunting for while also offering additional storage space for your travels. These are typically best used on short trips or as carry-on luggage to save your muscles during a long journey, but most can be bought and used in tandem with your chosen suitcase to house an in-flight book, snacks, a work laptop and one of our favourite travel pillows to save yourself a crook neck upon arrival.
Do airlines prefer soft or hard luggage?
Your most pressing concern when buying new luggage is if it's going to make sense for your trip and packing situation. Size, space and design are important factors, but it's also worth considering what airlines prefer, as some companies can be particularly picky with what they allow.
All airlines will have size, weight and shape restrictions on suitcases and carry-on luggage, so you should always be checking out what's allowed on your flight before heading to the airport. In most cases, airlines are flexible on what type of material is allowed so long as you stay under the weight guidelines. As far as we know, no airline will refuse your bag because of the material, regardless of whether it's a carry-on or check-in bag. However, bulkier hard carry-on cases are sometimes required to be checked in at the gate if the plane is particularly busy and the flight staff need more space in the overhead bins for other luggage. It's not often this is the case, but worth considering if you want to reduce the hassle on your next flight.
How do I choose a suitcase?
Selecting which checked luggage to go for can be as tricky as deciding where you're planning to holiday in the first place, so it's worth brushing up on the best options to help inform your choice. There's a fair amount of complication that makes this difficult, with different airlines imposing a variety of weight and size limitations, as well as the obvious sartorial and space aspects that make up a solid set of luggage.
Therefore, we'll give you the boring answer and say that it largely depends on what kind of travel you're doing in the immediate future. Larger trunks and hardshell suitcases will inevitably be your best bet for getting around the world on longer, more luxurious trips, with enough space to hold all the clothes and items you might need for a week or longer and are the most durable to better protect against general wear and tear.
Short city trips or weekend getaways will be the domain of smaller carry-on luggage , with wheels and handles to help you glide around train stations and airports stress-free. These might not have the capacious skills to keep you dressed for longer periods of time, but they often have enough to stretch to a week maximum should you need it.
Travel backpacks , soft-sided luggage, carry-on bags and rucksacks are a solid option for very short weekend trips or overnight stays, as they aren't particularly roomy for all your gear over longer hauls but are easier to carry over shorter distances. They can also be a good accoutrement to carry-on luggage, as you can split your load between the two bags and get more in your trip thanks to side pouches or ballistic nylon separators that go a long way to organising your packing.
To make your packing stresses a little less intense, we also recommend picking up some packing cubes to use as a divider for your clothes. These little bags are a lifesaver for organising your suitcase into easily manageable chunks, using a compression system to squash all your items down for more space inside your suitcase. For example, pack all T-shirts in one bag, underwear in another, and maybe a smaller one for toiletries, and then once you're at the end of your trip, keep the used clothes separate from the clean clothes so you know what to chuck into the washing machine when you get back.
What is better, two-wheel or four-wheel luggage?
Suitcases come in two forms: two-wheel and four-wheel which are vital for breezing through security stress-free. The former is a lot rarer these days, but there are a few brands that still make two-wheel bags, while the latter is typically more expensive but is significantly easier to manoeuvre. So which is better? For our money, four-wheel suitcases are far superior, even if they are more expensive, because the wheels are typically 360-degree rotational, so you can glide around freely in any direction without having to contort your body. In contrast, two-wheel bags are much less flexible with their direction and are typically less balanced overall.
What features should I look out for when choosing high-quality luggage?
If you value functionality over style, there are a few key features you'll want to focus on when choosing a new suitcase or travel bag to make your journey as smooth as possible.
First up, you'll want some durable, whisper-quiet 360-degree spinner wheels that are purpose-built to help you glide through every airport, train station and hotel lobby on your adventure. Pair this with a telescopic handle if you can to unlock the carefree, breezy dragging of your suitcase you've always dreamed of.
Security should also be a top priority, so ensure you get a bag that comes with a locking mechanism to protect your luggage from unwanted snoopers in transit. Many of the top picks below feature TSA-approved (Transportation Security Administration, an American Homeland Security agency) locks, which is the gold standard for protection as far as luggage is concerned. Some of these might be triple-digit combo locks or even a clasp with a key. Regardless of the locking method, just make sure you've got one, even if it's a simple padlock.
Finally, keep an eye out for which brands offer a lifetime guarantee to protect your purchase over the many future trips you've got planned. Suitcases get chucked around plane holds and carousels, and there's no guarantee yours will look pristine once you've arrived at your destination, so picking up at least a few years of warranty is advised. Most suitcase brands offer warranties as standard, but they will vary in length. From our research, five years appears to be the minimum so plan accordingly.
What size should my carry-on luggage be?
Frustratingly, not all airlines can agree on a set size and weight for your carry-on luggage, which can provoke headaches if you're prone to travelling with multiple companies or taking on a few flights in one trip with several layovers. However, there are some hard and fast truths to your carry-on limits. As a general rule of thumb, suitcases should not be taller than 24 inches, wider than 16 inches or deeper than 10 inches. This is your standard ballpark figure, and you won't find a single airline that allows beyond this limit.
It's worth noting this if your carry-on luggage is expandable – which many are – allowing you to extend your internal space to fit in those last-minute flip-flop additions. Using this feature may push your carry-on luggage over the edge, which will incur fees for additional space during international travel; you've been warned. As always, you should do your due diligence and check with the airline before you fly and then measure your own luggage to ensure it's within size and weight limits for the smoothest possible journey through check-in.
How much should I spend on my luggage?
Holidays don't come cheap, so you probably don't want to spend a small fortune on luggage, too. However, there are some common truths about picking up your travel gear and how much you should spend; namely, “Don't scrimp and save if you don't want future headaches with faulty gear”. Going cheap will inevitably mean materials won't be up to scratch, and you may risk getting it through your journey in one piece, which tends to lead you to buy replacement bags anyway – so why not think of it as an investment piece?
£80 is usually the entry point to decent luggage, and it's worth being mindful about that cost usually being per bag or suitcase. Great options from Amazon Basics or Samsonite can land you at this price point and afford you a decent build quality to get you through a few years of travel.
Stepping up between £200 and £500 is the next price point, where you'll find proven quality and luxurious materials. Brands like Antler , DB and Carl Friedrik are lurking around this cost, and such suitcases should easily see you through several years of jet-setting if you're kind to them.
Anything beyond £800 is a real statement piece in the airport lounge; think Gucci, Louis Vuitton and the like. If you genuinely care about your aesthetics, over caring about whether your handsome gear picks up a few knocks and scratches in transit, then these brands will do you proud.

Icon Stripe Cabin Bag Moorland Pink
Icon Stripe Large Suitcase - Taupe
Chelsea Packing Cubes
British-made Antler holds a loving place in our hearts simply because its collection is capacious, hardy and worthy of a spot on our Instagram grid as we jet away for the summer. The fresh Icon range is a worthy inclusion to the roster, wrought from recycled polycarbonate and arriving in a broad, fun range of pastel colourways. Each also features whisper-quiet rotational wheels, a sturdy telescopic handle and compression straps inside to keep all your clothes in place in transit. If you can, we’d highly recommend picking up the packing cubes. We swear by these useful mini bags to keep underwear, T-shirts and socks stored neatly and crease-free on long-haulers or they can be used as a handy laundry bag to be kept separate from your clean clothes.
Monos Carry-on Pro Plus
Monos Check-in Large
Monos Metro Duffel
Sometimes premium products don't need to come at premium price tags, which is just fine by us – more cocktails at the pool bar, please. Monos scratches that exact itch with high-end luggage for jet-setting luxury without breaking the bank. And don't they just look gorgeous?
For short-haul trips, we'd recommend the Carry-On Pro Plus, a suitcase wrought from a polycarbonate shell that's nigh-on indestructible, with TSA-approved locks to keep your clothes safe and secure in transit, as well as a front pocket large enough to fit a laptop. The same thoughtful design carries on through the range with the Metro Duffel, housing enough space for weekend getaways to the coast in style.
Samsonite Base Boost suitcase
Samsonite Airea suitcase
Samsonite Lite-Shock - Spinner XL 81cm suitcase
Easily one of the most well-established luggage brands in the world, Samsonite is well-known for producing high-quality luggage options for frequent travellers. Offering TSA-approved locks and expandable storage at an affordable price point, it has become synonymous with aspirational jet-setting since the early 20th century.
Samsonite has a huge catalogue of top-spec luggage for you to peruse, but one of our favourites is the Lite-Shock Spinner. The polycarbonate chassis is expandable but tough against scuffs and marks, making it a veteran of the airport carousel. The lightweight design makes it a great choice for frequent flyers who regularly make short one-week getaways or business trips.
Herschel Heritage Hardshell Large Luggage
Herschel Supply
Herschel Heritage Hardshell Carry On Luggage
Herschel Outfitter Wheelie
You know Herschel Supply for its bags already, just perhaps not its luggage. You’ve no doubt seen its logo on duffle bags and backpacks a million times over, but it’s exceptional suitcases that this Canadian brand should also be known for. Exceedingly tough, scratch-resistant (even on non-black shades) and light, its hardshell models are handsome holiday buddies that come in at a more affordable price than many competitors, but with just the same reliability.
Carefully sectioned split-zipped interiors, in-built locks and silent 360-degree wheels, we reckon Herschel’s suitcases have everything you’re looking for — and they have a lifetime warranty to boot.
Best carry-on luggage brands
Carl Friedrik
Core Carry-on
London Hackett check-in suitcase
Hackett London
Carl Friedrik Compact Weekender bag
If there’s anything Dickie Greenleaf taught us, it’s that luxury luggage set made of plush Italian leather goes a long way to elevating the overall style points of your holidaymaking. Sitting at the high-end of fashionable travel bags, London-based Carl Friedrik delivers sophistication to your luggage that simply cannot be ignored. In case you’re curious about CF’s sartorial credentials, its suitcases and briefcases have been featured in TV shows like White Lotus and HBO’s Succession, and those guys know how to basque in the elegance of luxury travel.
The most recent collab with London Hackett is perhaps our favourite partnership in the world of travel brands. Our pick is the check-in suitcase, a handsome navy number that features whisper-quite spinner wheels and oozes elegance for the luxurious traveller. Dual locks ensure your belongings are protected in transit, and the design guarantees heads will turn as you glide through security. If that isn't quite your speed, the new Core range is well worth investigating, with a new, secure zippered exterior and TSA-approved triple-digit lock that all but guarantees security in transit. Our pick is the sand and chocolate Carry-on for extra style points.
American Tourister
Pulsonic Check-in suitcase
American Tourister Bon Air DLX
Urban Track
Did you know that American Tourister is owned by Samsonite? The sister brand is best-known as a purveyor of affordable, lightweight travel equipment that ticks a lot of boxes in the style department. Bright, eccentric colourways are the name of the game here, with options to please kids thanks to Marvel and Disney looks that will look mighty fine through check-in.
The best bit of this brand is, of course, the cost, offering top-tier options for less than £200 in most cases (get it?), and they can be bought on Amazon if you're a Prime subscriber and in need of a luggage upgrade in a hurry. Our pick? The Bon Air DLX, is a capacious, ready-to-go suitcase with a hardside polycarbonate shell and mouse-quiet wheels.
DB Hugger bundle 90L + 30L suitcases
DB Essential weekend bag 40L
DB Ramverk tech organiser bag
There really isn’t much the Scandis can’t succeed in when they put their mind to it. DB is a hypey new brand hailing from the snowy climbs of Norway, innovating to make travelling heavy a lot more manageable. The noteworthy aspect here is that DB's collection is sustainably sourced and made to last, with durable designs that proffer a rugged chic coveted by backpackers and gap-year travellers.
We love that the Hugger bundle utilises a hook system where the larger pack piggybacks the smaller pack for an ergonomic lift that will make the long walk through the airport as slippery as a freshly brushed piste in winter. Elsewhere, the Hugger Backpack on its own is a mighty travelling bag, with a huge cavern for your gear that’s well-protected thanks to the hybrid soft/hard-shell chassis and ribcage system that manages to look striking and deliver the sturdy goods where you need them. Packing space comes at a premium, so we'd also recommend grabbing the tech organiser bag to store cameras, phone chargers or other paraphernalia for a smooth trip.

Louis Vuitton Horizon 55 suitcase
Louis Vuitton
Louis Vuitton Monogram rolling trunk
Is there any more clear-cut statement of luxury than Louis Vuitton travel gear? We think not. Providing that first-class feel regardless of whether you're in economy or business, Louis Vuitton's selection of logomaniac luggage never fails to look every bit the main character as you ought to feel pre- and post-vacation.
Choosing a particular LV bag is like deciding between a Ferrari and a Lamborghini – without dissimilar price tags –, but we came down on the side of the ultra-luxe Horizon 55 suitcase. Dappled in your choice of either the iconic ‘Damier checkerboard design or the Vuitton Monogram, this particular number is the only true sartorial choice you need to make to turn heads at the departure gate. Perfect to take in the cabin, the 37-litre capacity is more than enough to house your must-have travel essentials, and it also comes with a removable leather name tag for the ultimate travel flex.
Globe-Trotter Centenary suitase
Globe-Trotter x Golf le Fleur Centenary 20” suitcase
Globe-Trotter Centenary 20" cabin suitcase
If it's good enough for the likes of Harry Potter, Indiana Jones and almost every fancy fictional detective ever written since the late 1800s, it's more than good enough for us. The classic trunk has never looked as good as it does from Globe-Trotter, an iconic British brand well-versed in crafting the perfect suitcase to accompany you across the planet in style.
Spend any time perusing Globe-Trotter's website and you'll instantly fall in love with the fun, pastel-coloured take on the world's most famous luggage, courtesy of the Golf le Fleur collaboration. Seen here with a playful multi-coloured array of leather straps and buckles doubled up with an abstract leopard-print lining and ivory casing, it screams Wes Anderson's summer getaway must-have item.
Gucci Porter cabin suitcases
Gucci Savoy suitcases
Gucci Interlocking G cabin suitcase
If ever there was a master of the anachronistic, it would be Alessandro Michelle's era for Gucci, a theme that is deeply felt within the brand's luggage offerings. Where heritage prints and old-school silhouettes combine with innovative materials and modern durability, Gucci luggage simply cannot go wrong.
For the frequent flyer, we'd suggest the extra-hardy Porter cabin trolley suitcase, whose dense aluminium construction is accented with delicate panels of the ever-infamous ‘Double G’ logo print. For a more retro, aesthetic-focused take, however, the Savoy Ophidia-inspired trolley bag and Interlocking G patterned travel bag make stylish travel partners indeed.

Minimalist design with maximum aesthetic appeal – that's Prada's effortless mode summarised. A subtle style flex, toting a Prada suitcase is a discreet nod between fashion aficionados, where the simple yet iconic enamelled triangle logo sends a low-key signal of luxury to your fellow travellers.
From the plain jet black pick to the logomaniac Symbole patterned number, the handful of suitcases we've selected from Prada's online shelves cater to the needs of departure lounge wallflowers to Insta-focused travellers alike. Whatever your airport aesthetic, we've got you covered.
Best luggage brands for style
Roll top Backpack
Commuter Backpack
Harber Weekender
There's something about leather luggage that presents superior luxury. Our top choice for a high-quality range of beautifully crafted bags is Harber London, perhaps the most sophisticated top-end bags around. It's giving James Dean on the back of a Triumph motorbike, heading along the French Riviera, right? A reasonably new player in the international luggage game, Harber was created in 2012 to provide commuters with deluxe leather laptop sleeves, and after more than a decade, it now makes some of our favourite weekend bags, commuter rucksacks and accessories.
Each item on Harber's website is lovingly hand-crafted in Spain using 100 per cent full-grain leather, highlighting the dedication to the drip that the brand maintains. And while many products in the roster, like the gorgeous roll top backpack, are completely leather (aside from the military-grade buckles), others incorporate durable, water-resistant fabrics to make it significantly more robust. The brand gives you a year warranty as standard and ships worldwide.
Rimowa Essential Cabin
Rimowa Original Check-In L
Rimowa Essential Sleeve Cabin Plus
One of the most imperious luggage makers in the game, Rimowa has been cruising to sunnier climes since 1898, and really hit its stride a century ago by creating the world's first aluminium suitcase way back in 1930. Although it's also moved into polycarbonate wares of late, the Cologne-based brand has seen its status elevated via several hypey collaborations with the likes of Supreme, Off-White and Anti Social Social Club. In other words, it's followed exactly the new luxury playbook as its LMVH stablemates in Fendi, Givenchy and, of course, Louis Vuitton.
There's no better place to start with Rimowa than its Original Check-In suitcase, if only because it's one of the most desirable pieces of luggage in existence. For those in need of something a little more understated, its Essential Cabin and Essential Sleeve Cabin Plus (with an external laptop sleeve, naturally) are both as sturdy as they are suave.
Tumi 19 Degree Aluminum suitcase 66cm
Tumi 'International' carry-on suitcase
In what might be the most bizarre origin story for a company name, Tumi's moniker comes from a type of Peruvian ceremonial knife used in the sacrifices of ancient South American rituals. Every day's a school day, right? In modern times, it's become a world-class luxe luggage brand beloved by pan-European flight hoppers and high-end holidaymakers alike.
Tumi's 19 Degree Aluminum carry-on suitcase is the style-centric luggage pick that ensures turned heads at baggage claim. Famous hands that have grasped the handle include Renee Rapp and Tottenham Hotspur's Son Heung-min. The immediate appeal is obvious: a vibrant, silver-hued, smart case that's set apart from its competition by its sturdy, streamlined silhouette and rippled outer shell.
Aviator Grand Check-in Suitcase
Paravel Main Line Duffle
Aviator Carry-on suitcase
Sustainability should always factor in when travelling. While you can't help but contribute to greenhouse gases if you fly, getting around the world with some luggage that mitigates at least a little bit of the burden on Mother Earth is a good start, which is why we love Paravel's carbon-neutral range. Every piece of luggage from the brand is sustainably made, whether utilising recycled plastic bottles or ensuring the delivery of your product impacts the world as little as possible. Impressive, no doubt, but the bags themselves are actually pretty handsome in their own right, offering plenty of versatility for your travels. We love the Main Line Duffel, which is a smart, sophisticated shoulder bag complete with a wealth of internal pockets and a suitable level of stylish class for any jet-setter.
Everywhere Backpack
Away Bigger Carry-On
How could we collate a rundown of the best brands to wield as you swan through the airport without including Away? A brand close to our hearts, the New York travel company has an exceptional list of suitcases, carry-ons and backpacks to get you through your next journey in style. Why? Each bag is expertly crafted and comes in a range of beautiful pastel colours that are subtle, sophisticated and still enough to grab the attention of your check-in agent.
Our favourite is The Trunk, which is a bit beasty at first glance, but is capacious enough for a two-week trip to wherever you damn well please. We love the salmon pink number of the hard-side travel suitcase, which is lighter than it seems, making it a great pick-up for over-packers and those who despise having to weigh their luggage. An alternative for lighter travel is the Bigger Carry-On, which offers more room for packing than a standard carry-on while staying inside travel weight guidance.
Crash Baggage 79cm suitcase
Crash Baggage Share 55cm cabin suitcase
So-called because, well, its suitcases look like they've had a crash, a bang, and a wallop, Crash Baggage is founded on the belief that your luggage should be as durable as possible. Subverting shoppers' expectations of what brand-new luggage should look like, Crash's line-up comes pre-worn and dented in a tongue-in-cheek expression of just how resilient its cases are.
For your consideration, dear reader, we've picked out the Stripe 79cm, the Share 55cm and the Icon 79cm. Each decked out in dents and scratches, these cases are bold enough in both colourway and battle scars to be spotted whirling around baggage claim in no time. Plus, with all those aesthetic injuries, you're surely not to be messed with in the oft-competitive dash through arrivals.
Stori suitcase 55cm
The fashion-forward travel brand from Down Under, Nere's luggage will match any mood on your mind or adventure on your calendar.
Nere's most iconic suitcase, the Stori, makes the perfect travel companion for quick flights and long car rides alike, as their options are among the best lightweight suitcases in the market. Defined by the range's bold colour scheme, the Stori might be easy on the eyes, but it's its ABS polycarbonate shell and multi-faceted storage features mean that it's just as kind on your travel essentials. Due to the lightweight, the hard side spinner wheels are about as smooth as you could hope for and are whisper-quiet to boot. Off you go!

What our editors say:
I'm a big fan of the Travelpro Maxlite Air Medium Check-In Hardside Spinner . I purchased the suitcase in 2022 and have used it for multiple trips. It is incredibly light, fits an impressive amount of clothing and is easy to maneuver with super smooth spinner wheels that you can pull or push. The textured, wavy design also makes it less likely to see scratches or scuffs, and the slate blue version I got (Ensign Blue) is a color that's easy to pick out off the luggage belt. – Erin Evans, Managing Editor

I always recommend Away luggage to fellow travelers. The Carry-On has been with me on countless trips over the past few years, and it's still in great shape. For checked luggage, The Medium is my go-to because it's big without being bulky and holds plenty for a long trip. You don't need anything larger or more expensive than this. – Amanda Norcross, Content and SEO Strategist

Samsonite is known for focusing on durability and innovative design, and today's travelers can find a range of hard- and soft-sided luggage along with a variety of travel accessories.
I love traveling with Samsonite's SoLyte DLX Carry-On Spinner . I'm a big fan of soft-sided luggage in general, and this suitcase feels particularly well made and durable. I've found it to be more spacious than it looks, even when I don't use the expansion zipper. The brand's organizational features are my favorite part — especially the wet pocket and the buckle system that keeps the tie-down straps out of my way when packing. – Catriona Kendall, Editor

Whether you’re looking for a hardcover rolling suitcase, a sturdy laptop bag, or a trusty weekender set, we’ve rounded up the very best luxury luggage brands that are worth shopping for. As you plan out your next vacation, it's important to keep in mind that the right luggage can have a huge impact on your trip. A good suitcase should be easy to maneuver, spacious to pack, compact and lightweight enough for carrying and durable to hold up to wear and tear. The Good Housekeeping Institute ’s Textiles Lab has tested over 100 suitcases in recent years t o find the best luggage brands for every type of traveler.

We also pack each suitcase with a standard load to see how much it can hold and how easy the compartments are to access. Consumer testers come into the Lab to use the luggage in an obstacle course, where they weigh in on handle comfort, wheel performance, maneuverability and more. Finally, we send luggage out with travelers into the real world for firsthand feedback.

In particular, it stands out for its durability and ease-of-use features: There's been no struggling to open and close the cases, and packing them has been a breeze , thanks to the functional compartments that maximize space. It's certainly not inexpensive, but as direct-to-consumer luggage brand prices have skyrocketed, Samsonite's have remained fairly consistent.
Both hardside and softside styles from the brand have excelled in our tests. We've also been impressed by each of the sizes, including carry-ons, checked bags and underseat luggage. Some of our favorite models include the Freeform hardside (pictured here), the Solyte DLX softside and the Stryde Glyder , which is a checked case that's wide instead of tall so it's less likely to tip over.
American Tourister
If you're on a budget or you don’t use luggage regularly — i.e., it doesn’t need to be the most durable and you don’t need all the bells and whistles — American Tourister offers competitive pricing and an excellent variety to choose from . There are a lot of options if you prefer bright colors and fun prints, plus there are cases for the entire family, including a Disney collection . Between the designs and versatile offerings, the models are fun, functional and especially ideal for vacationers.
Just note that while luxury hardside cases are usually made of polycarbonate, American Tourister typically uses ABS plastic, which is more affordable but more prone to scratches. Still, it gets high ratings from online reviewers who note that the bags are surprisingly spacious. Another perk: The brand offers luggage sets for an even better value, especially if you need to purchase multiple pieces. Pictured here is the Pop Max Softside set , which at $150 for a set of three, is less than other single cases.
Away is one of the most popular luggage brands on the market, and our testing shows it actually lives up to its hype. Though the brand has a wide range of offerings, we especially love the hardside carry-on.
It's made of 100% polycarbonate that proved to be durable and lightweight in our evaluations — even lighter than some fabric bags we’ve tested. It was also surprisingly spacious and held a full packing load in our review. The company offers a 100-day return policy on unused items; it also offers a lifetime limited warranty on its suitcases that covers any "functional damage."
Besides the main Carry-On model , it comes in variations like a Bigger Carry-On (which the brand says can hold 20% more) and a Carry-On Flex (which has an expandable zipper). We also love the brand's Everywhere Bag , which is a stylish and surprisingly spacious weekender.

Briggs & Riley
Briggs & Riley bags are pricey — a carry-on can cost over $600 — but they come with a lifetime guarantee that will cover all repairs if the luggage ever gets broken or damaged. They also come with innovative features, such as the brand's signature compression packing system. Bags that have this feature expand to let you pack and then compress down after they're filled. In fact, one of our testers said she packed a week's worth of summer clothes for two people into a compact carry-on, and it easily fit into an airline's overhead bin.
The suitcases also use top-notch construction and timeless designs in a range of styles, including hardside, softside, carry-ons and checked bags. The Baseline Global Carry-On Spinner (pictured here in the 21-inch version) has been a selected as GH Family Travel Award winner for the past two years after travel testers gave it perfect scores across the board. Its nylon fabric also aced our Lab's abrasion tests.
Amazon Basics
It’s hard to find good luggage for under $100, but Amazon’s luggage does not disappoint. There are softside and hardside styles to choose from, plus garment bags , duffels and more. Amazon also boasts extensive testing to make sure their products will hold up, and though the luggage might not the absolute best quality out there, the price can’t be beat.
We were impressed with its hardside 20-inch spinner carry-on (pictured here) when we tested it on our Lab. Our analysts found it to be exceptionally easy to pack, though the ABS material wasn't as scratch-resistant as other models in our tests. Still, consumer testers liked the maneuverability and wheel performance. This style also comes in two other sizes (24 and 28 inches) and can be purchased as a two- or three-piece set.
This luxury brand is on the pricey side but has timeless designs — from hardside to tweed fabric — that never go out of style. In fact, the brand’s marketing and aesthetics are focused heavily on its heritage. It has been a top performer in our tests, thanks to its spacious interior that's easy to pack and its wheels and handles that make it smooth and comfortable to maneuver.
The hardside cases have earned high scores in our tests — especially standing out for being scratch-resistant, lightweight and spacious — but we also love the softside Legend collection (pictured here), which is made of durable tweed fabric and leather trim.
This fashionable yet functional travel brand was founded by actress Shay Mitchell and incorporates smart features designed to make traveling easier. It also has a stunning aesthetic, including monochromatic color schemes in which the handles and hardware match the case.
Pictured here is the Carry-On Roller, its best-selling case that comes in a range of neutral and fun hues. It was spacious for packing and easy to maneuver in our tests, and though it did scuff during use, it resisted dents well during our Lab's drop tests. Another popular style is its Mini Weekender , which can be used as a personal item that fits underneath the airplane seat in front of you.

This company was founded by a pilot, and it makes luggage specifically for airline personnel who travel for a living. Still, it's just as functional for business and leisure travelers.
The brand primarily sells softside luggage, though it does have some hardside options available. There’s excellent attention to detail that makes frequent flying easier, like cushioning around the handles for comfort, self-aligning wheels that let you roll the luggage in any direction and abrasion-resistant nylon fabric.
The Platinum Elite softside luggage (pictured here) stood out in our Lab tests. Not only was it durable, but it was also spacious enough to hold our entire load with room to spare. The downside was that it was heavier than others, but it's a fair tradeoff for the top-of-the-line features.
This brand increases the fun factor and makes it easier to spot your luggage in a sea of solid colors. There are adorable animal sets for kids' luggage , animal prints for adults and more. There are also options for licensed teams and art (like Britto, shown here), making your suitcase a playful yet functional accessory.
When it comes to materials, most Heys suitcases are hardside and made of polycarbonate and ABS composite. This means it's mostly ABS plastic but has a polycarbonate coating on the outside for added protection. The brand wasn't the most durable in our tests, it but earned high ease-of-use scores.
Style is certainly important when it comes to luggage — it's an accessory, after all — but you don't want to sacrifice quality and functionality. Calpak's cases are both well-made and have unique designs. Though its assortment is tailored with fewer models than some of the big brands, Calpak still has a wide range of materials to choose from, including sleek hardside polycarbonate, printed ABS/polycarbonate blends and ripstop polyester.
Calpak's Ambeur carry-on (pictured here) was one of our testers' favorites; they especially loved the easy-to-use telescopic handle and metallic color. We also found it to be easy to pack and though it wasn't as scratch-resistant as some others we tested (which is expected for ABS composites), it still withstood dents and damage from our durability drop test.

A good suitcase is a travel essential , but whether you’re headed for a two-day business trip or a two-week road trip, it can be a challenge to find luggage that is both enjoyable to use and enjoyable to look at. We get it—things like high-quality locks, zippers, spinner wheels, pockets, charging ports, and weight are all important aspects to consider when selecting a new inanimate travel companion. But hey, so is how it will look in your travel photos.
The trick is finding the right piece of luggage for you when there are so many options. Do you want a wheeled carry-on suitcase ? A weekender ? A travel backpack ? And what size, shape, and color? Although they may be slightly more difficult to find, Holy Grail luggage brands—those that balance high quality, durability, and design—do exist. You just need to know where to find them.
To help you choose your next suitcase, whether it’s a duffel bag or a spinner, here are the best luggage brands worth investing your money in, whether your budget is $100 or $1,000.

In 2024, it launched its first wheeled suitcase made with the same dedication to ultra-durable materials and smart design. Available in five colors, the 48-liter Aer Carry-On has an integrated pocket inside for AirTags , a trolley handle with four height settings, Cordura recycled ripstop interiors, and a Hinomoto wheel brake system to prevent the suitcase from rolling away.

- Shop now: arloskye.com
- Afar’s pick: Arlo Skye the Frame Carry-On, $428 (was $475), arloskye.com

Since then, the brand has added check-in sizes, lightweight polycarbonate materials, and zippered and unzippered options to its line of rolling suitcases. We’re partial to the Frame collection, which is constructed from a hybrid polycarbonate shell reinforced with an aluminum frame and corners for maximum durability without the bulk of an all aluminum bag. Given that it also comes with whisper-quiet spinner wheels and an antimicrobial lining infused with natural silver fibers to prevent germ growth and odor-causing bacteria, this bag is a steal for under $500.

At its core, the new Away suitcase is still recognizable with its hard polycarbonate shell with horizontal lines, four Hinomoto spinner wheels, a removable laundry bag, and TSA-approved locks. But it also now comes with an underside grab handle that makes it easier to pull and lift from overhead bins or baggage carousels. Away also redesigned the trolley handles on its suitcases to be more comfortable and stable.
The brand has also expanded its offerings to include weekenders, soft-sided luggage, and packing cubes—all in an ever-changing rainbow of limited edition colors. Affordable yet incredibly functional and well made, Away’s products are ideal for the jet-setter who wants it all: the right price, the right features, and the right look.

Ready, Jet-Set, Go: The 15 Best Luxury Luggage Brands
We all have baggage. Make it beautiful.
by Emma Treagus Updated on June 4, 2024
At Luxe Digital, we test and recommend products that we think you will love. If you buy something, we might earn a commission . This supports our team at no extra cost for you.
As seasoned travelers, we don’t take luggage lightly.
We notice how a suitcase handles Italy’s cobblestone streets. We’re cognizant of the ratio of size to weight—and, therefore, how much of our precious weight limits the case exhausts. And we’re familiar with what looks good after thousands of air miles.
After testing dozens of the most popular luggage choices, we’ve found the luggage brands that get the job done most effectively (and fashionably—because style always counts.)
Let’s be honest. We all have baggage. Some are just easier to carry and lighter to check-in.
The 15 best luggage brands
Why you can trust Luxe Digital?
As a digital nomad, I’ve personally traveled more than most over the past two years. And while I’ve experienced some incredible places, the on-the-move lifestyle definitely brings home which products are worth investing in and which aren’t.
For this article, the discerning editorial team at Luxe Digital tested dozens of luggage brands (from check-ins to carry-ons to weekend duffles) in real-life international travels (hint, hint: journey through our sister site Luxa Terra for luxury travel inspiration).
For more on how we test products , see our HAPPY philosophy for buying luxuries.

American Tourister: Best value luggage brand
While we expect to pay for luxury luggage, not all luggage brands cost the Earth. American Tourister is case in point. Backed by a 10-year warranty, American Tourister suitcases are exceptionally durable. While the dual spinner wheels are easy to maneuver and provide an effortlessly smooth ride.
Established in 1933, the time-honored brand has an enormous collection of cases for the whole family. But our top pick has to be the American Tourister Luggage Set . Marrying light travel with packing power, the two-piece luggage set features the 21-inch Carry On and the 24-inch Spinner. Both cases feature the brand’s protective, hard water-repellent polypropylene shell. While expansion and compression components allow for last-minute souvenir shopping.
Best for: Luxury travel without a luxury price tag.
Star product: American Tourister Luggage Set
Samsonite: Best lightweight luggage brand
Holding the title of the world’s oldest luggage brand, travelers have been trusting the expertise of Samsonite for over one hundred years.
In fact, the company gained inspiration from a brief hiatus in which they were unable, due to the war, to construct their luggage from their traditional materials. New, synthetic materials took precedence, and they’ve never looked back.
Samsonite has weathered the storms of the Great Depression and two World Wars and came out on top. So yes, you can probably trust them to see your possessions safely through an international flight!
Best for: The OG of reliable luggage.
Star product: Omni PC
If you’re an overpacker, you need an ultra-lightweight luggage brand that doesn’t consume your limited weight allowance. Made from innovative, light, durable materials, Samsonite is the affordable brand to take up the challenge of checking in without paying extra.
Tumi Luggage: Best luggage brand for business travel
Tumi luggage may feel like a splurge initially, but after a lifetime of breezing through security, you’ll likely see it as more of an investment.
As our best brand for business travel luggage, Tumi luggage rolls into any boardroom with an air of effortless organization. Especially the Alpha 3 Continental collection. Compact and compartmentalized, the silhouette is designed to fit into overhead compartments without skimping on work shirts. TravelPro: Best softside luggage brand
TravelPro was founded by a man who’s rather experienced when it comes to traveling. Having accumulated innumerable air miles as a NorthWest Airlines 747 pilot, he knows a thing or two about what travelers really need from a suitcase.
Best known for inventing the wheeled, carry-on suitcase, the TravelPro has since developed to offer all kinds of high-quality luggage featuring innovative technology. All with the aim of making the travel process easier , and more enjoyable.
Aimed at frequent travelers, TravelPro are favored by over ninety airline crews around the world. Well, they can’t all be wrong.
Best for: Well-(w)heeled travelers.

TravelPro’s softside luggage is great for its flexibility and durability. The malleable fabric makes room for just one more pair of shoes. And we appreciate that it’s able to squish into smaller spaces, such as the trunk of an overpacked car.
Beis: Best hardside luggage brand
If you’re a culprit of packing breakable souvenirs, hard shell luggage is imperative. Protecting your wine bottles and porcelain vases from crash landings, Beis is one of the best suitcase brands when it comes to hardside luggage.
From compact carry-ons to check-in rollers, all Beis bags are ultra-functional and effortlessly fashionable. And while the hard-side keeps your valuables safe, the expandable zippers make room for last-minute shopping sprees. The 360-degree wheels are smooth and stress-free. And a plethora of compression straps and pockets make packing and unpacking a whole lot more fun—trust us, it’s actually possible.
Best for: Combatting crash landings.
Star product: Large Check-In Roller
What we love about Beis is that it is super affordable and stylish without compromising on quality. Loved by celebrities and travel influencers (especially for its weekender ), once you start your Beis collection, it’s very difficult to look anywhere else for luggage.
Away: Best overall luggage brand
If there was ever a suitcase brand that simply exudes minimalist chic , it’s Away. Promising to be ‘built to last’, Away is centered on longevity while maintaining enviable elegance throughout all of their suitcases.
They understand that unlike booking your holidays, buying a suitcase should not be an annual activity. Your suitcase should withstand flight after flight without the need for constant replacements.
A nice perk is if you choose to purchase a complete set of luggage (a carry-on, medium, and large, for example), the suitcases fit snugly inside each other like an intrepid set of Russian dolls.
Best for: Stylish suitcases.
Star product: The Large
Away is a masterclass in modern minimalism. We love that the brand’s luggage is sleek and stylish and seamlessly includes all the latest high-tech innovations.
Calpak Luggage: Best luggage brand for small bags
Founded in 1989, Calpak is one of the most well-known and best travel luggage brands. And while all Calpak luggage is high quality and excellent value, we’re particularly partial to the label’s range of carry-ons.
Calpak carry-ons feature plenty of compartments and pockets to separate your shoes from your chiffons. They are super lightweight and designed to fit into overhead compartments. But if you get carried away with designer boutiques over your travels, the expandable sides always make room for more.
Best for: Compact and convenient.
Star product: Carry-On Luggage
Calpak’s designs are meticulously thought out, featuring considerate details such as shoe compartments, expandable zips and carefully placed pockets. It’s also surprisingly well-priced for a premium quality label.
Briggs & Riley: Most durable luggage brand
Made from superior materials, Briggs & Riley suitcases can really take a beating. Yep, feel free to shove yours off the roof or whack it with a baseball bat. And if you go too far—which we’re yet to experience—the confident brand will repair it free of charge, no questions asked.
Briggs & Riley makes the most durable luggage. But it’s also super high-tech. The luxury suitcases feature the world’s only one-touch CX expansion. And with the click of a button, the bags expand for increased packing capacity and compress for compact convenience. Imagine actually closing your case without sitting on it first…
Best for: Varying off the beaten track without bearing the bruises to prove it.
Star product: Baseline Medium Expandable
You may pay a little more for the premium luggage line, but if you’re willing to invest in a lifetime of comfortable travel, we think it’s totally worth it. Briggs & Riley luggage comes with a Lifetime warranty, so you’ll never have to hunt for a suitcase again.
Louis Vuitton: Most expensive luggage brand
We all know Louis Vuitton as one of the most popular luxury brands . Although we seldom refer to the affluent label as one of the best luggage brands. But as the OG in luxury luggage, we’d be remiss to leave Louis Vuitton bags off our list. And when this Pegase suitcase arrives on your doorstep, you’ll be grateful we didn’t.
Created in 2004, the Pegase infuses the quality and timelessness of the all-hailed luxury label with the latest in luggage innovation. And as one of our best Louis Vuitton bags of all time, we see this sleek, monogrammed canvas suitcase as your lifelong travel companion. That’s worth a slight splurge, right?
Best for: Vintage va va voom.
Star product: Louis Vuitton Pegase
We don’t have to tell you: Louis Vuitton is the pioneer of luxury luggage. Whether it’s a timeless travel tote or retro roll-on, it’s the kind of designer bags you pass down to future generations.
As one of the more affordable luxury brands, we were unbelievably impressed by Samsara’s performance.
Made from polycarbonate, with quality 360 degree wheels and smooth telescopic handles Samsara’s suitcases are super light and durable. We took ours for a bumpy ride over Europe’s cobblestone streets, and it stood up to the test.
We were also intrigued by Samsara’s smart features. The brand’s smart designs feature Tag Smart technology so that you can track your suitcase in the air.
Samsara also has a quality line of smaller essentials, including garment bags , packing cubes , dopp kits and crossbodies—all of which are reasonably priced and designed to make the journey much more enjoyable.
Best for: Staying on track—even when your bag isn’t.
Star product: Tag Smart Aluminium
The brand’s Tag Smart technology is genius. Especially if you’re one to stress about whether your bags will make it after the layover. However, Samsara also has more affordable, basic designs for those who prefer to keep travel simple.
We’ve used and loved our Nomatic travel backpack for quite some time and were excited to see whether the rest of the brand’s luggage line lived up to the soaring standard it had set.
It did.
Although Nomatic doesn’t have a huge variety when it comes to different models and styles, what they do have is meticulously designed and beautifully crafted. Details such as low-profile handles, silent Hinomoto wheels, magnetic compression straps and strategically placed laptop sleeves make Nomatic luggage a dream to pack and a pleasure to travel with.
Nomatic luggage is also lightweight and durable and it’s really not too expensive for designs that last as long as they do. While you’re there, the duffles, toiletry bags , backpacks and garment bags are worth checking out.
Best for: Facilitating a digital nomad lifestyle.
Star product: Carry-on Classic
As frequent travelers, we were amazed at how Nomatic luggage performed in all situations—from business trips to adventure holidays. We also love that you can create your own travel collection with nifty add-ons and quintessential accessories.
Eagle Creek
Founded in 1975, Eagle Creek has been around long enough to really perfect its designs and luggage collection. And while it may not be the most stylish or decadent label, it’s one of the top luggage brands when it comes to performance.
Made from weatherproof, abrasion-resistant materials, Eagle Creek’s luggage is engineered to go anywhere and everywhere, protecting your valuables on the move and never showing signs of wear or tear.
Its oversized wheels are also more robust than most, as well as its zippers and grab handles. Equipment keepers protect your gear in volatile climates. And lockable zips secure your valuables from prying eyes.
Best for: Providing fortnight security on all fronts.
Star product: Eagle Creek ORV 2
If you prefer to stick to city breaks and luxury resorts, you may prefer a brand that is more fashionable and less functional. However, if your upcoming adventures consist of rugged outdoor excursions and rocky terrains, Eagle Creek’s luggage is ultra-robust and protective.
As intended, Paravel is our inspiration to explore the earth while respecting it with eco-friendly materials , such as recycled polycarbonate, recycled nylon, and vegan leather.
The first thing we noticed about Paravel luggage—and it’s almost impossible not to—is how gorgeous its designs are. Elegant and timeless, the retro-inspired styles come in classical hues such as tan, white, black and olive. And while the brand’s sophisticated aesthetic won over our fashion-forward hearts, we were determined to remain unbiased when reviewing performance.
Thankfully, Paravel is equally impressive when it comes to functionality. Clamshell openings and compression straps make room for more. The 360-degree wheels are incredibly smooth and easy to navigate. And all of the materials are of the highest quality.
Best for: Exploring the earth with a fashionable, featherlight footprint.
Star product: Aviator Carry-On Plus
We know we said that luxury luggage is more about quality than style, but this brand’s retro-inspired aesthetic is almost impossible to resist. And you don’t have to—Paravel luggage is as functional as it is fashionable.
Travel luggage buying guide
Sometimes, gazing nonplussed at complicated-sounding specifications of travel luggage can be downright confusing, not to mention frustrating.
We’ll break down some of the most important aspects of luggage to ensure you make the right choice (even if you don’t have a chemistry degree).
Really, when it comes to deciding on materials, it all comes down to Polycarbonate, Aluminium or ABS.
Polycarbonate: Polycarbonate is undoubtedly the most popular choice for hard shell luggage. It’s lighter than aluminum, yet still extremely durable.
It’s known for its resilience, as it possesses the cool ability (something of a superpower in the luggage world) of changing shape upon impact, and reverting to its original form instantly afterwards. This makes it an excellent choice to mitigate the perils of rough handling.
ABS: ABS is a type of thermoplastic. It’s lighter than both polycarbonate and aluminum, but generally speaking, not as durable as either. It’s definitely not a bad choice for carry-ons, as the risk of impact is much lower if you can keep a watchful eye for your journey.
Often, it will be combined with polycarbonate and/or aluminum, which definitely elevates its strength and durability.
Aluminum: The most long-standing, and the most expensive, of luggage materials is certainly aluminum. A traditional choice, but less preferred now due to the increased availability of cheaper materials like polycarbonate.
If you’re looking for a classic aesthetic and a solid, expensive feel, it could be worth investing in aluminum luggage!
Must-have features
360° wheels: This probably goes without saying, but in order to fluidly transport your suitcase, you’re going to need wheels. Every suitcase worth its salt will offer four 360 ° wheels to optimize the smoothness of pulling it along.
Telescoping handles: Telescoping handles are a fancy term for handles that pull out of the top of your luggage, and lock in place. They tend to come with a single control button, which ensures you can maneuver your case with only one hand.
Expandability: Typically found more on soft side luggage (but increasingly on hard side), expandability allows you to stretch the capacity that little bit further. And as every traveler will know, just a few centimeters of height can be absolutely crucial.
Inner compartments: If you don’t love opening your luggage after a long journey to the horrific vision of a clothing war zone, we suggest you ensure your new luggage has inner compartments. For the sake of organization, it’s totally worth it.
Often, there’ll be a discreet laundry pocket, too.
TSA-locking: You’ll see this add-on peppering most luggage descriptions. Simply put, it’s a specific locking system that can be opened by both its owner and the TSA agents at US airports.
Of course, airport security is permitted to check the contents of every piece of luggage. TSA-locking is a stress-free, simple way of them doing so.
Softside vs hardside luggage
Some of the best luggage brands advocate for soft side luggage, others only manufacture hardside luggage and some have both. So how do you know which is right for you?
High-quality softside suitcases are usually made from ballistic nylon. They are malleable and easy to squeeze into tight crevices—such as the corner of an overpacked car. And the relapsable silhouette takes up very little space when it isn’t being used, making it simple to stow away.
Hardside luggage, on the other hand, is usually made from polycarbonate PVC. The hard shell is great for protecting delicate items during travel. However, it is less flexible than soft side luggage. If you can’t decide whether to prioritize malleability or preservation, there are also hybrid suitcases that give you the best of both worlds.
Frequently asked questions about checked-in luggage
Luggage brands such as Horizn Studios , Away , and RIMOWA offer long-lasting, durable and stylish suitcases in a variety of sizes and materials, which should last you journey after journey. Check our list of the best luggage brands for our detailed recommendations.
Brands like Samsonite , RIMOWA and Briggs & Riley are world-renowned for manufacturing extremely durable luggage. Check our list of the best luggage brands for more options.
Depending on how long you’re going for, it’s usually best to opt for a large suitcase or luggage. Most larger sizes offer around a 100-liter capacity, which means you’ll have plenty of space for clothes, tech, and essentials.
Hard side luggage is better if you’re going to travel regularly with breakable items. Soft sides, although often very good quality, are more prone to ripping and impact damage simply due to the nature of the materials.

Top Product Overview
Top products.
Samsonite is the leader in the luggage market and it deserves to be on this list. Their product range includes everything from affordable suitcases to some of the best luxury luggage you can buy.
The luxury luggage from Samsonite is made from the best materials, and it has all those extra features that make travel more convenient. Plus, the brand has such a diverse product range that you can find any type of luggage you want within their product range, and you’ll usually have more than one option.
Samsonite Black Label is what the brand calls their most luxurious luggage. These bags are often unique in some way, whether they’re the lightest or most feature-packed Samsonite has to offer.
Samsonite Black Label Lite-Shock
Lite-Shock is a collection of hardshell spinner suitcases that are made from woven polypropylene. This is one of Samsonite’s priciest luggage collections, and it’s also one of their best. If you like traveling light and you don’t want a heavy suitcase, look no further.
All the luggage from this collection is incredibly lightweight. And I do mean incredibly – the 21” carry-on weight a mere 3.7 lbs. That’s truly amazing for a hardside suitcase with spinner wheels! This luggage is great for people who just can’t be bothered to lug around heavy suitcases, but also for those who tend to go overboard when packing.
If you often have to pay overweight luggage fees, a Lite-Shock suitcase could change your life. The 32” checked suitcase weighs 6.2 lbs, which is roughly 5 lbs less than similarly sized suitcases from different brands. It’s worth noting that this luggage is stripped of most features, but that’s what it takes to make it weigh so little.
Product Information
- Dimensions: 32” x 21.5” x 13”
- Weight: 6.2 lbs
- Capacity: 124 liters
Samsonite Black Label Cosmolite
Cosmolite is another luxurious Black Label collection from Samsonite. It features lightweight suitcases made from Curv material, which is the toughest and most durable material Samsonite uses for luggage. Cosmolite cases are all incredibly durable, yet so lightweight that a large checked case weighs less than an average ABS carry-on.
Cosmolite cases feature a minimal interior with one lined and one unlined compartment, a single pocket, divider, and elastic straps inside. They also have single spinner wheels, a height-adjustable single-barrel wheel handle, and TSA-friendly locks for safety.
Samsonite’s Cosmolite collection does not feature expandable capacity, and I certainly won’t praise it for organizational capabilities. I will say that the extra-large (34”) spinner weighs a mere 7.7 lbs. A Globe-Trotter carry-on case weighs more than this bag, and the difference in capacity is around 100 liters in favor of the Samsonite.
If you’re looking for exceptionally lightweight and durable luggage, and you’re willing to compromise on other features, the Black Label Cosmolite collection might be exactly what you want.
- Dimensions: 33.9” x 22.8” x 14.2”
- Weight: 7.7 lbs
- Capacity: 144 liters
Briggs And Riley
Briggs And Riley is similar to Samsonite in the sense that their product range includes luxury luggage, but it’s not their main focus. You can also get some more affordable luggage from this brand, but you can also get bags that are in the same price range as Tumi and Rimowa.
So, what makes them one of the best luxury luggage brands? It’s their patented CX compression system. If you prefer expandable suitcases and you often return home with a heavier suitcase than you left with, you need one of these suitcases.
Their unique compression system lets you pack up to 34% more things inside, while still retaining the original size. It’s surreal what they managed to do with the compression system, and it earned them a spot on this list.
And there are other things that make this brand deserving of a spot on this list. Their luggage usually has a wheel handle mounted to the exterior of the suitcase. It doesn’t protrude into the packing compartment, so you get a smooth packing experience plus some extra space. Plus, their cases are made from premium materials and have all the features that are common on high-end luggage.
Briggs & Riley Baseline
The Baseline suitcase from Briggs & Riley is one of the best bags they ever made. It features a single packing compartment with CX compression, sturdy spinner wheels, and an external wheel handle. The CX compression system lets you pack about 33% more stuff in this bag, which is pretty amazing considering the already generous capacity.
Also, there are multiple external and internal pockets, for impeccable organization and easy access. This even includes a tiny pocket on the back of the suitcase, which is absolutely perfect for the things you want within your hand’s reach.
In addition to that, this luggage features a TSA-friendly lock for secure travel, as well as a garment suiter inside. The nylon construction is tough and durable, while the corner reinforcements significantly improve the overall impact resistance of the bags.
The Baseline suitcase is available in six different sizes and you can see them all on the link below. The dimensions listed below are of the largest suitcase in the collection.

Let’s say that luxury luggage brands are like a Pyramid – at the bottom, you have a brand like Samsonite that does luxe luggage but also more affordable options for the average traveler. At the very top of that pyramid, you would have Rimowa, the brand behind the first polycarbonate suitcase ever.
Rimowa is a luxury luggage brand that’s easily the leader in that market. They only make hardside luggage and it’s either made from polycarbonate or aluminum – the most durable materials that can be used to manufacture luggage.
If you’re looking for luggage that is exceptionally durable but also lets everyone around you know you’re loaded, Rimowa cases are perfect for you. They’re durable, reliable, stylish, and they’re famous enough people will know exactly how much you spent on your luggage.
Rimowa Essential Lite
The Essential Lite collection from Rimowa features five great suitcases. The luggage is made from polycarbonate, and it’s the lightest luggage you can buy from the brand. Whereas most of their other luggage features a dual-barrel telescopic handle, this particular collection is equipped with single barrel handles. They’re still height-adjustable and incredibly durable, but they also weigh much less.
The five bags in the collection are two carry-ons, two checked bags, and a small suitcase for kids. The bags differ in size, but all the other features are the same.
You get dual spinner wheels on all the Essential Lite luggage, as well as a wheel handle with stage-free adjustment. There’s also a TSA-friendly lock for security, as well as mesh dividers for easy organization.
The specifications listed below are of the largest suitcase in the collection, but you can check out the rest on the same link below.
- Dimensions: 30.8” x 20.5” x 10.7!
- Weight: 8.2 lbs
- Capacity: 91.2 liters
Rimowa Original Luggage
We can’t talk about Rimowa luggage without mentioning their most popular suitcase ever. The Rimowa Original collection boasts the design that initially launched in the 1950s, and which remains one of the most recognizable luggage designs ever.
The luggage is made from anodized aluminum for excellent durability. Also, the Original collection features a few collaborations with other designers, so if you’re into designer luggage you should definitely check it out.
The Original collection features more than 15 different suitcases, including Rimowa’s signature trunks. Whether you’re looking for a compact carry-on or the biggest checked suitcase you can buy, there’s an option for you in the Rimowa Original collection.
As for the other features, you get sturdy spinner wheels, a handle that allows for stage-free adjustment, double TSA-friendly latch locks, and flex dividers inside. You can see most of the luggage from this collection on the link below and the specifications listed here are of the carry-on suitcase.
- Dimensions: 21.7” x 15.8” x 9.1”
- Weight: 9.5 lbs
- Capacity: 34.8 liters
Tumi is one of the most versatile luxury luggage brands out there. They’re a favorite among frequent travelers because their bags are incredibly durable and they offer an excellent warranty. Tumi makes excellent luggage, whether we’re talking about small underseat bags or massive checked suitcases.
Tumi also makes duffel bags, travel totes, and even backpacks. No matter what type of luggage you need, Tumi is the brand that will have something for you.
They also design classic suitcases, both softshell and hardshell. All their bags are made with premium materials and have the features you need for convenient travel. Their most popular luggage collections are Tegra-Lite and Alpha, so let’s talk a little about those.
Sterling Pacific
Sterling Pacific luggage is undoubtedly worth buying if you’re looking for the strongest aluminum luggage around.
When it comes to strength and longevity, this brand is at an entirely new level. The luggage’ reinforced A380 aluminum corners, incredibly tough extruded aluminum body, recessed, tougher-than-average wheels, and aluminum wheel housings all add to its durability.
If you frequently travel and require a strong suitcase, these bags are absolutely worth the money because everything about them is sturdy and well-made.
They also add some luxury luggage details that high-end travelers will appreciate like the stitched Italian leather handles and complementary Amenity & Care Kit that comes with each case.
This is indeed a suitcase you will be using for decades to come and heads will be turning as you walk through the gate at the airport for sure!
- Robust aluminum construction
- Reinforced body and corners
- Luxurious leather accents

- Capacity: 80L
Tumi Tegra-Lite
The Tegra-Lite collection features luggage made from Tegris, an innovative material that is absolutely spectacular. It’s tougher than polycarbonate, which is considered the best luggage material. Tegris is a thermoplastic composite that starts as polypropylene and ends up looking just like carbon fiber. It is lightweight, durable, impact-resistant, and it’s entirely recyclable.
Tegra-Lite luggage features TSA combination locks, dual spinner wheels, and a three-stage wheel handle. The luggage interior has a garment sleeve for suits, compression straps, and three zippered pockets. In addition to that, all Tegra-Lite suitcases have expandable capacity.
Another thing that makes Tegra-Lite luggage great is the external front pocket with lockable zippers. It’s rare to get external pockets on hardside luggage, and even rarer to get pockets with lockable zippers.
- Dimensions: 29” x 20” x 12.5”
- Weight: 14.5 lbs
- Capacity: 102 liters
Victorinox is famous for its Swiss Army Knives and a lot of people don’t even know that the brand manufactures luggage, let alone that it’s one of the best luxury luggage brands out there. They make all types of luggage from duffel bags to large, checked suitcases, so no matter what kind of luggage you are looking for, there’s something for you in their product range.
Why choose Victorinox? You get amazing Swiss quality, a great 1 + 10 years warranty, and the modern features necessary for comfortable travels. Victorinox luggage is made from high-end materials and it’s designed to fit the needs of the frequent traveler. Check out some of their more popular bags to see what I’m talking about.
Tumi Alpha is the brand’s most popular softside luggage collection. The collection features everything from a wheeled duffel bag to a checked suitcase, so there are plenty of options for all travelers.
The Alpha luggage is made from ballistic nylon that combines special coating with a unique weave to make it significantly more durable than basic nylon. These suitcases all feature sturdy spinner wheels, a height-adjustable wheel handle, and TSA-friendly locks.
Most Alpha luggage has an expandable capacity, but some of the smaller carry-ons don’t. If you end up buying a suitcase from this collection, just check whether it’s an expandable bag or not, to avoid any surprises.
Internal features of these suitcases include zippered pockets, compression straps, a suiter section, and a large mesh zip pocket.

Victorinox Spectra 2.0
Spectra 2.0 is a collection of ten hardside suitcases. It features everything from a carry-on to a 32” expandable suitcase, and most sizes are available with both expandable and non-expandable capacity.
This luggage features a durable polycarbonate shell, smooth spinner wheels, and a height-adjustable wheel handle. There’s a TSA-friendly lock to protect the contents of the bag, as well as corner guards that improve the durability.
The interior of Spectra 2.0 luggage is lined, with compression straps in one compartment and a zippered mesh divider in the other. The larger checked bags from this collection even feature a tiny pocket for a Swiss Army Knife – you don’t get this in the carry-on bags since it’s not allowed to carry pocket knives in them. All Spectra 2.0 suitcases also feature a zippered pocket inside.
- Dimensions: 18.5” x 29.6” x 10.6”
- Weight: 8.8 lbs
- Capacity: 73 liters
Globe-Trotter Luggage
Most of the brands I talked about so far pride themselves on using cutting-edge technology to create the best and most modern luggage in the world. Globe-Trotter is entirely different – their luggage features that staple vintage design and all their bags are hand-made. If you like the vintage aesthetic, there’s no doubt you’ll fall in love with this brand.
The retro design is just to get you interested – it’s the craftsmanship and high-end materials that make this luxury luggage so irresistible. The checked cases are made with Vulcanised Fibreboard, a material that is patented by Globe-Trotter. It acts like aluminum in terms of durability and impact resistance, but it’s 30% lighter. The best part is that it’s all cellulose, so it’s perfectly sustainable.
Globe-Trotter even makes bespoke luggage and that’s the sign of a true luxury luggage brand. Book an appointment and you’ll get exactly the luggage you want.
It’s worth noting that this is some of the most expensive luxury luggage you can buy. Even a two-wheeled carry-on suitcase will set you back almost $2,000 and you might want to consider some other brands if you’re prioritizing performance and convenience over luxury features and status.
Centenary Carry-On 4 Wheels
The Centenary carry-on is one of the brand’s most popular in-cabin bags. It’s a 21” suitcase with spinner wheels, a 34-liter capacity, and luxe leather accents all over the case.
This is a zipperless suitcase with latch locks. Unfortunately, they’re not TSA-friendly locks but instead come with a key that only you have access to. That’s not very convenient if you’re going to travel across the US with this bag, since you risk TSA agents just breaking it open on your first trip.
The case can fit enough items for 2-3 days, so it’s best for business trips and long weekends. The capacity is not expandable, as is the case with most zipperless hardsides.
It’s worth noting that this luggage is 21.7” tall with wheels and handles, and it meets the carry-on requirements of all major airlines. The rigid construction and non-expandable capacity make it extremely difficult to overpack in this case, so it’s unlikely you’ll ever be forced to check this bag because of excessive weight.
- Dimensions: 15.7” x 21.7” x 8.3”
- Weight: 9.3 lbs
- Capacity: 34 liters
What To Look For
Luxury luggage vs. designer luggage.
Luxury luggage is not just luggage with a very high price tag. That would be designer luggage – suitcases from brands like Louis Vuitton, Gucci, and others. Luxury luggage includes bags that are made from the best and most durable materials, with all the features necessary for high-end luggage, as well as an excellent warranty.
Some designer brands manufacture their own luggage and others partner with established luggage brands. Dior likes to partner with Rimowa and a Dior x Rimowa luggage is both designer and incredibly luxe.
But here’s the thing – there aren’t that many differences between a basic Rimowa suitcase and a Dior x Rimowa one. The main difference between the two is the branding on the shell, which doesn’t impact the way you use the luggage at all.
And of course, there’s also a $2,000 difference in the price point. Unless you want everyone at the airport to know exactly how rich you are, there aren’t that many pros to buying designer luggage.
Type Of Luggage
Although all these brands are amazing, some are better at certain things than others. If you’re in the market for an aluminum suitcase, Rimowa is easily the best option for you. But if you want a softshell suitcase, you won’t find anything in their product range. You will find several amazing suitcases from Tumi and even Samsonite, so don’t limit yourself to just one brand.
If you’re looking for an expandable suitcase you won’t find anything better than Briggs & Riley. In any case, each of these brands has something that sets them apart from the rest, and which makes them worthy of the spot on this list.
To get the best of the best, you need to know exactly which features are a priority for you, and then simply go with the brand that excels in that area. I’ve mentioned whenever there’s something that one brand does better than the others, it should be pretty easy to find the perfect luggage for you!
Best Luxury Luggage Brands: Our Top Picks
Not quite sure which of these luxury luggage brands is the best option for you? It’s okay – go with one of our top picks, depending on what you are prioritizing in your perfect luggage.
If you prefer luggage with expandable capacity, just pick up a Briggs & Riley bag . Their CX Compression system is impressive enough that you’ll never want to go back to simple expansion zippers. It lets you pack up to 34% more in the suitcase while retaining its original, non-expanded size. And you get all the other features that matter like internal pockets, spinner wheels, and a reliable wheel handle.
- Expandable Luggage: This swivel wheeled bag expands 2.5 inches for up to 25% more packing space. Cinch-down mesh garment panels keep contents from shifting and minimize wrinkling, Outsider handle provides greater interior capacity. Free TSA lock included
- Durable Construction: Made with ballistic nylon outer fabric that resists wear, moisture, dirt and abrasion. A lockable double zipper pull keeps contents secure and SpeedThru pocket allows quick access to travel items at security checkpoints
For durable hardside luggage, you can never go wrong with Rimowa . The brand invented polycarbonate and aluminum luggage, and it’s very hard to compete with their quality. Apart from incredible durability, Rimowa luggage also offers all the features a modern traveler needs like height-adjustable wheel handles, TSA locks, internal pockets, etc.
Another brand that does hardside luggage really well is Samsonite . The Black Label collections feature some of the lightest suitcases ever made, so pick up a Lite-Shock case if you want a checked suitcase that weighs less than your current carry-on. You won’t get any fancy features, but you will get a feather-light and extremely durable suitcase. If you often pay fees for overweight baggage, a Black Label suitcase might be the perfect option for you.
- Made with Curv material : extremely strong, incredibly light.
- Limited 10 year global warranty
Still haven’t found that one perfect suitcase? You can see even more bags from these amazing luxury luggage brands on the links below!

Luckily, this guide to the best designer luggage is here to help ease some of your worries. It features a round-up of the best high-end luggage to accompany you as you board a luxurious first-class cabin and jet to your destination.
Best Luxury Luggage for Travel
Without further ado, let’s dive into the list of the best luxury luggage for travel.

12 Best Luxury Luggage Brands | Designer Luggage
For travelling in style, you can’t beat luxury luggage. It’s worth investing in the best cabin trolleys and suitcases, as they will make your trip a lot more enjoyable. The best luxury luggage brands have a blend of good looks, technical features and practical design. Read on to find out which designer luggage brands are right for you.
Best Luxury Luggage Brands
There are several factors to consider when purchasing designer travel bags. Technical features, dimensions, weight and appearance are all important.
Think about what you will use the luggage for. If you’ll be carrying fragile items, you may be best off with a hardside case rather than soft sided luggage.
Luggage Capacity
How much capacity your luggage has is an important consideration. Bear in mind that features such as a telescopic handle and four wheels will take away some space inside your case. The outer luggage dimensions won’t necessarily reflect the interior capacity.
Luggage Dimensions
The regulation carry-on size varies depending on which airline you are flying with. For many airlines, this is a maximum length of 56 cm or 22 inches, a maximum width of 45 cm or 18 inches and maximum depth of 25 cm or 10 inches.
However, for budget airlines, the dimensions allowed tend to be smaller, so bear this in mind if you frequently fly with a low-cost carrier and check their requirements before purchasing your cabin bag.
Luggage Weight
One of the most important considerations when choosing luggage is its weight. Imagine wasting up to 25% of your luggage allowance with the weight of your case! A heavy case may look stylish but you won’t be able to bring as many items compared to lighter luggage.
The lightest carry on cases on the market weigh under 4 pounds or 2 kilograms. Depending on size, the lightest checked luggage starts at 4.4 pounds or 2 kilograms.
Usually, fabric softside luggage is lighter than hardside luggage. However, some Samsonite hardside luggage made from their patented Curve® material are the exception to this rule. They’re incredibly lightweight and designed for maximum impact resistance.
In terms of checked baggage allowance , it varies again for each airline. For American Airlines the allowance is 50 lbs (23 kgs) in economy or 70 lbs (32 kgs) in business or first. For some budget airlines, you pay for any checked luggage.
Smart Luggage
These days, luxury travel bags come with all sorts of built-in extras. Some of the most popular luggage features are:
- 360-degree swivel wheels for extra stability and ease of movement
- RFID blocking technology to prevent your details being stolen
- App controlled built-in GPS tracker with a proximity alert
- USB charging station
- Power bank to charge your phone on the go
- Built in digital scale operated through an app
- Integrated removable batteries, which conform with airline policies
- Remote locking system
- Zipperless access via a code
- Interior compression system for your clothes
Some luggage brands even have a security app, which informs you each time that your suitcase is opened out of your sight, or bio-lock fingerprint scanners. Or for something truly innovative, what about a motorized suitcase by Modobag? You can ride it in the airport terminal to get around in record time!
Luggage Durability
Probably the most important factor when choosing luxury luggage is how durable it is. Some brands such as Samsonite have designed their cases to withstand repeated shocks.
It’s also important that wheels are firmly attached and that the zips are strong enough to withstand repeated opening and closing. Many luxury luggage manufacturers provide a complimentary repairs service for general wear and tear. Of course, if your luggage is damaged by the airline while in transit, it is their responsibility to repair it.
Style of Luggage
Do you prefer a fashion suitcase or something a little more discreet? These days, there are luggage styles to suit everyone. From vibrant floral patterns to geometric designs, you can choose the luggage that fits your personality best.
Darker colors tend to be more practical, particularly for soft-shell luggage. These days, many hardshell cases are made from scratch-resistant material such as polycarbonate. ABS is another common luggage material but it is not as resistant as polycarbonate or aluminium.
Types of Luggage
The two main types of luggage are softside and hardside, also known as soft shell and hard shell. They each have their advantages, for example soft cases tend to be lighter and you can squash them down to fit inside overhead lockers.
Hardside cases are usually more secure and hard-wearing. Thanks to advances in technology, they’re a lot lighter than they used to be.
For security, hardside cases are hard to beat. We once had someone use a knife blade to extract valuables on our soft shell suitcase on a crowded train where we had to leave the case out of our sight.
There are of course different types of luggage, including cabin trolleys, under seat bags, check-in suitcases, garment holdalls and duffel bags. We’ve listed our top picks for luxury luggage that looks great and performs well below.

Whether you’re a first-time or frequent flyer, the right bags can mean all the difference. Is your carry-on too big? Is your dop kit leak-proof? Is there enough room in your purse for all-day adventure? To help you get ready to take off—and thereafter—we went ahead and compiled a list of 15 of the best travel bags around, from hard-shell and soft-shell suitcases to weekend duffles and toiletry bags . So get those passports ready and read on to find your next favorite travel bag. Bon voyage!
How To Choose The Best Travel Bag
Domestic vs. International Travel Carry-Ons
We know that you’ve probably gotten away with taking a suitcase that definitely was not regulation carry-on size. Typically, domestic flights are a bit more lenient with your luggage dimensions, but a good rule of thumb for domestic flights is to make sure your carry-on bag fits within 22-inches by 14-inches by 9-inches. This size ensures that your bag—along with everyone else’s—is going to fit in the bins overhead on your flight. If you’re flying internationally however, these airlines are more likely than not going to be stricter. We suggest finding a carry-on that is 20 inches or shorter to take on your international flights. And always check with your airlines.
Soft Shell vs. Hard Shell Luggage
If you’re a no-fuss kind of traveler, a soft-shell suitcase is for you. They’re able to withstand a bit more wear and tear whether you’re taking it glamping or stuffing it in the overhead compartment. On the other hand, if you are packing items that need some added protection (think: a pair of heels you don’t want to break or a beloved designer bag), we suggest going with a hard-shell suitcase so that none of your valuables sustain any damage.
Two-Wheel Luggage vs. Four-Wheel Luggage
If you have ever been down-to-the-last-second late for a flight and almost missed it because you had to drag your heavy suitcase behind you, we suggest you get a spinner suitcase. A spinner has four wheels, which tend to be multidirectional, helping you not only have full control over your bag, but also allowing you to comfortably glide your luggage alongside of you as you maneuver through security to your gate. On the other hand, two-wheeled suitcases typically have wheels that are inside of the main compartment and required being tilted on their side to drag through the terminal.

12. Rimowa Cabin Suitcase

The Most Exclusive Russian Luxury Brands
Dressing from head to toe in Russian outfits that are fashionable and modern, as well as comfortable, has become completely feasible. We have selected some of the most luxurious Russian fashion brands to suit a wide variety of tastes and budgets, making them available to shoppers anywhere in the world.
The most exclusive Russian luxury brands include: Sasha Gapanovich, Koshe, Valentin Yudashkin, Alena Akhmadullina Fashion, Cluev Jewellery, Gaydamak Jewellery, Yanina Couture , Rasario , Gosha Rubchinsky , Outlaw Moscow, Nina Donis, Russian streetwear brands: Anton Lisin, and Russian streetwear brands: Fusion
Sasha Gapanovich
Sasha Gapanovich, from the polar city of Murmansk, calls her clothes “women’s clothing from the far north.” The cosy sets of her are suitable for the cold. She uses a lot of wool and hand knitting and is inspired by Russian and vintage motifs.
The artist films her collections against the backdrop of harsh, breathtakingly beautiful northern landscapes, for example, in Teriberka, an atmospheric arctic town in the Murmansk region, where Andrei Zvyaguintsev’s cult film Leviathan was shot.
Svetlana Coshè founded her high-end clothing brand and atelier in 2015. Leather goods abound in her collections. In addition, she also appears as a detail in various garments such as ornaments, dresses, jackets, linen suits, or, for example, a classic trench coat.
The brand also makes expensive bespoke fur coats –a hot item for the Russian cold. He also has his own line of accessories: baseball caps, leather bags, and ties.
Valentin Yudashkin
The same-named fashion designer established Valentin Yudashkin in Moscow in 1987. His line was first introduced in Paris in 1991, and his Moscow store eventually opened its doors in 1997. The designer has launched jewellery and perfume lines since his inception more than twenty years ago in collaboration with France’s Parour.
The Valentin Yudashkin Fashion House shows its haute-couture collection in Paris twice a year as a member of the Syndicate of High Fashion in Paris. It also takes part in the Russian High Fashion Week in Moscow.
The fashion designer intends to establish a fashion academy and a museum dedicated to costumes in Moscow.
Alena Akhmadullina
Alena Akhmadullina, a graduate of Russia’s Technology and Design Academy, is a fashion designer from Saint Petersburg.
Her eponymous brand has been showing ready-to-wear at Paris Fashion Week since the autumn of 2005, and opened an office in Moscow in 2007, followed by a concept store in 2008 also in Moscow, on Nikolskaya Street.
Cluev, Jewelry
Ilya Klyuev founded the jewellery company Cluev, creating one-of-a-kind pieces in Swiss and Italian factories due to his passion for precious stones.
The company has since developed sterling silver signature collections, elegant crystal objects, and home décor items using valuable stones and materials recognized and validated by experts at renowned gemological institutes worldwide.
Gaydamak Jewelry
Gaydamak Jewellery was established by Katia and Sonia Gaydamak, two designers with a passion for exquisite jewellery who was born in Russia and now reside in Paris.
At the American University of Paris, Katia majored in international politics. She nevertheless continued to work in New York City for Daniel K and Jacob & Co., where she decided to pursue a career in design.
Her sister Sonia, who studied in Paris and New York and is passionate about diamonds and gemology, oversees the company’s commercial operations. Distinguished retailers like Luisa Via Roma and Montaigne Market carry their creations.
Yanina Couture
Yanina Couture’s website says, “Fashion enthusiasts travel to Yanina Couture for what Parisians went to the great Dior for in the 1950s – gorgeous dresses enveloped in luxury and devotion.” This line of airily romantic embroidered gowns is also well-liked by Hollywood celebrities.
Designer Yulia Yanina began the fashion brand in 1993 as a simple, modest studio in Saratov.
Yanina loved dressing up the dolls her father brought back from abroad when she was a child. Gigi Hadid, Emma Roberts, Meryem Uzerli (the lead in the Turkish TV series Muhteşem Yüzyl), and dozens of other well-known figures adore her clothes.
Rasida Lakoba, an Abkhazian native, intended to pursue architecture, but her parents moved her to Moscow to study finance after high school.
After receiving her degree in 2012, she opened her mini-studio, which quickly attracted the attention of Russian celebrities and, after a presentation at Paris Fashion Week in 2016, people worldwide.
“This is evening wear in the most contemporary sense; ours is a very intricate yet laconic cut, so the items don’t seem classic”. Rasida describes her business as always adhering to its DNA, which embodies sexuality, femininity, and aesthetic beauty in an elegant way.
Jennifer Lopez, Heidi Klum, Katy Perry, and Ariana Grande are fans of her sultry bustier gowns, sparkly dresses, crinkled fabric, and open shoulders.
Gosha Rubchinsky
With good reason, Rubchinski has come to represent contemporary Russian fashion. The youthful fashion designer popularized the idea of suburban guys. This was so successful that Adidas offered to work with him.
In 2012, Rubchinski caught the eye of the Comme des Garçons brand, who took him in, offering assistance with production and sales and a presence at Paris Fashion Week shows.
In Russia, Rubchinski’s clothing can be found at the KM20 concept store , which, in addition to his characteristic collections, he offers his collaborative designs and perfumes and sells books.
For example, The concept of a new scent developed by the designer in collaboration with Comme des Garçons is the focus of the book Perfume.
Outlaw Moscow
Even though Outlaw Moscow is just three years old, it has already garnered considerable notice and established itself in Moscow’s clothing markets.
It has established partnerships with the Fakoshima eyewear company and the Farfetch online marketplace and has found a home in the closets of various Russian and foreign celebrities.
The company makes stylish, comfortable clothing with personality and charm that is practical and pleasant to wear daily.
Maxim Bashkaiev and Diliara Minrachmanova developed the brand. By incorporating eclectic aspects into their designs and blending uncommon shapes, colours, and materials, they aim to combine the conventional with the novel.
They also make use of a variety of inscriptions, phrases (such as “strive, flourish,” “love excessively,” etc.), prints, and logos. Moscow’s underworld produces all
Nina Donis
Nina Nerétina and Donis Pupis, who have collaborated since 2000, founded Nina Donis, the most renowned indie label in Russia.
Nina and Donis produced the most eagerly awaited fashion presentations in Moscow and were named among the most prominent contemporary designers.
They also received glowing reviews from Style.com. They eventually fled to Cyprus after growing weary of the constant media attention.
Today, Nina Donis has created simple but modern collections in great demand both in Russia and abroad. Nina Donis’ strong points are her simple silhouettes, pure colours, and beautiful catalogues.
Her items, which have nothing to do with what you normally see, can be purchased on the KM20 store website.
Anton Lisin
Born in Sergiev Posad, a small town on the outskirts of Moscow, Anton Lisin always dreamed of opening his own skate clothing brand.
The fact that he was born in the heart of the Russian Orthodox Church did not make things very easy for him to achieve it. His strong personality focuses on fashion being not just cool clothes but has to be taken as an artistic expression.
Gosha Rubchinskiy’s former model draws his designs from references as disparate as Russian folklore, the Orthodox Church, and black metal’s dark aesthetic. The result is garments with transgressive and daring lines with an almost gothic appearance in which black, white, and red predominate.
Russian Streetwear Brands: Fusion
This streetwear brand chooses its name because of its firm belief that fashion is a fusion of disparate influences and cultures that can bring together people with like-minded ideals and interests.
Fusion’s collections depict historical images blended with modern designs and powerful colours. For example, in his collection entitled “Berlin Wall.” In another of its collections, “Fusion Lab,” the pharmaceutical world is on par with fashion by experimenting with different materials, shapes, and colours that push the design concept to the limit.
Conclusion
For a good reason, Russian luxury brands are some of the most sought-after in the world. From refined and understated designs to cutting-edge technologies and meticulous craftsmanship, these labels have something for everyone. So, if you want to splurge on unique clothing or accessories, why not try Russian luxury brands? You won’t be disappointed!

11 Travel Clothes, Accessories, and Bags From Amazon That Look Designer — but Start at $14
These stylish finds look like you’re flying first class but have a Basic Economy price tag.
Travel + Leisure / Madison Woiten
My love for comfortable travel clothing knows no bounds. And that love can only be topped by one thing: if my comfortable travel outfit looks more expensive than it really is. Over the years of being a travel and shopping writer, I’ve finally cracked the code to looking like I’m flying first class even if I’m not, and it’s all thanks to the affordable options at Amazon.
For example, I was recently shopping for a bodysuit. I typically prefer a thick, well-made one, and my favorites tend to be from Abercrombie & Fitch. The mid-priced Abercrombie Crew Neck Bodysuit , for instance, is a high-quality, stretchy cotton number, and it retails for $45 (but is on sale for $39 right now). Recently, however, during one of my routine Amazon digs, I discovered this one by a brand called Mangopop , and it's strikingly similar. More than 11,100 Amazon five-star reviewers vouch for it, too — and this counterpart is nearly half the price at just $24.
Amazon, it turns out, is packed to the gills with top-rated clothing, accessories, and even travel bags that look, fit, and perform like some of the most coveted high-end items out there. But in true Amazon fashion, these finds are blissfully affordable. It was easy to pinpoint 12 travel-friendly picks that belong in your shopping cart — and then in your suitcase — stat. Among them are lookalikes of brand names like Theory, Aritzia, Marc Jacobs, Tumi, and yes, even Gucci: a dead-ringer of one of their most famous pairs of loafers for just over $30, in fact. Go ahead and treat yourself: even if you’re flying Economy, no one would ever know it with these styles.
Steve Madden Women's Rezume Sneaker
We travelers love our sneakers, don't we? While in Lisbon, I found a pair of sneakers that looked just like those famous Golden Goose sneakers . You know, the ones with the star on the side and the distressed finish that somehow retail for $925? In this particular pair, it's the Swarovski crystal embellishments, but I found a pair by Steve Madden that uses crushed glitter to pretty much the same effect — and this pair costs just $80 with the same distressed look, too, so you'll definitely be fooling everyone around you.
Tuobo The Tote Bag
This might be one of the best steals I found. The Marc Jacobs tote bag is pretty recognizable, but you'd need an eagle eye to tell it apart from Amazon's Tuobo tote bag , especially in the cream version. It has the same shape, the same handles and the same stitching; the only thing it doesn't have is the Marc Jacobs brand name, and is rather made with a sensible canvas fabric. But when you compare $450 to an economical $23, it sure is worth it. Just think of how many souvenirs you can carry in there! “I love this bag! I use it for work meetings. I'm able to carry my laptop or iPad, and a few files," wrote a happy shopper. "It's very professional looking and holds up with the pressure of meeting supplies."
Queenieke Running Jacket
Who's not a sucker for a good Lululemon piece? The Define jacket kind of defines the brand, and it retails for $118. But this Amazon version by Queenieke is so similar, even in color, that Amazon shoppers are drawing comparisons. It has the same fitted cut and stylish seams, and it's made of sweat-wicking fabric so it performs well, too. “I bought this after my coworker had the Lululemon brand one that looks similar,” wrote a happy reviewer. “I do not make Lululemon [money]. But I still like to look like I do.”
Libin Cargo Joggers
Lightweight and stretchy, the A bercrombie & Fitch YPB MotionTek Joggers were made for active travelers. They retail for $80, but Amazon's Libin Cargo joggers are just $35. They have the same drapey fit, elasticized waist and ankle cuffs, and handy pockets on the sides. They've got something extra too: built-in UPF 50+ sun protection. Almost 11,500 Amazon shoppers gave them a five-star review. One wrote: “I bought them to travel. They're perfect airplane pants with plenty of pockets for everything: phone, ID, passport, money, anything for a quick grab. They're comfortable for all-day wear, very lightweight, and soft, and they breathe.”
Amazon Basics Hanging Travel Bag
Tumi is a status symbol for sure, and the company’s Alpha hanging toiletry bag has a price tag that reflects that: $195. But check out this one by Amazon Basics : it's so similar it's hard to tell the two apart, and this one is just $16 on sale. Like the Tumi, it's packed with compartments and it's also made of waterproof fabric in case of spills. “This is almost identical to a Tumi toiletry bag, which sells for almost ten times as much,” one of thousands of astute reviewers pointed out. “It's very good quality, seems sturdy like it will last for many uses. I think the organization and compartments are well thought out.”
Bison Spirit Mules Slip-on Loafers
When I say identical, I mean identical: the sophisticated Gucci Princeton Leather Slipper that retails for a whopping $950 has a twin on Amazon that's only $34. The gold buckle on top of the Bison Spirit mule is impossible to tell apart from the real thing. The shape of the shoe? Same. The heel? Same. You’ll be enamored and want to book a trip to the Amalfi Coast just to look dapper in them. “I have worn them every day since I got them. They're so comfortable,” one shopper attested.
Tianyesy Sunglasses
Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses have that signature look: you know them when you see them based on the geometric shapes within the frames. There's a hexagonal pair that pretty distinctly belongs to the brand, and it retails for $268 while on sale. Amazon has a pair that looks almost exactly the same except for the D&G logo on the side, but who's going to really know it's missing? And who's going to know that this pair is just — brace yourself — $14? And yes, this pair has UV protection. “They are so cute! They have a nice weight to them too which makes them feel very high-end for the price point,” one person wrote.
Luvamia Blazer
I bought myself a versatile Aritzia blazer for my birthday a few years ago and it’s a mainstay in my suitcase. I'm pretty sure it's the Aritzia Babaton Blazer , which the company sells for $228. I love the unique, angular cut and the fact that it has no collar — so stylish. For just $45 you can have basically the exact same thing in Amazon's Luvamia blazer . It’s lined and machine-washable. “I love the fit and look of this jacket; it's light and airy, not heavy, and feels like linen,” wrote a fan.
Pumiey High-Neck Sleeveless Bodysuit
You're probably seeing high-neck halter bodysuits everywhere and have been for a while. A lot of brands make them, including Revolve and Skims. Revolve’s popular Reading Bodysuit is $98 while the coveted Skims Fits Everybody High Neck Bodysuit is $60, but Amazon's version by Pumiey is on sale for just $20. It sculpts, skims, and stretches just like its pricier counterparts. “This bodysuit is so flattering and soft. I love this brand way more than Skims,” wrote a delighted reviewer. “The crotch area is made well and is comfortable. The material is stretchy but not see-through."
Frank Mully Pointed Toe Flats
Rothy’s: to know them is to love them — but not necessarily to afford them. The ultimate knit, washable travel shoes retail for $149, but check out this Frank Mully version for just $41. It looks identical to Rothy's The Point Flats and comes in a lot of the same colors and patterns including my favorite: leopard print. “These are so comfortable and look just like Rothy’s! No one needs to know they are not,” wrote one of thousands of five-star reviewers .
Jessica Simpson Denim Whisker Wash Wide-leg Jeans
It's a bold statement, but Madewell made it: The Perfect Vintage Wide Leg Jeans are, admittedly, incredibly cool — but they're also pretty pricey and now sold out. Log on to Amazon, though, and you'll see that Jessica Simpson's denim line is a strong competitor with its Whisker Wash Wide-leg Jeans for just $46. That's less than half the price of Madewell. “This is the second pair of Jessica Simpson jeans I bought. They're extremely well made and the fit is great,” wrote someone from the singer-turned-fashion mogul’s strong fan base.

We sure have our own tastes and preferences when it comes to luxurious handbags. Though, I bet my bottom dollar that most of you would be more likely to deem yourselves as committed Chanel buffs or devoted Givenchy disciples. Whoops, busted! But, have you ever thought of discovering something new? Something like a lesser-known luxury designer handbag perhaps?
Russian Luxury Brands for Handbags
If you are not sure yet, check out the roundup of non-mainstream Russian luxury brands of handbags down below for some insight. Russian fashion /brands may go under the radar−far and few between, but their contribution to the world of fashion is doubtlessly eccentric. Still not convinced? Then, keep on reading and find yourself some Russian-made bags.
1. ALENA AKHMADULLINA Printed Leather Bag
Alena Akhmadullina is a true pioneer of Russian fashion industry whose designs are known for their elegance, chic, and classiness. Look at the leaf print that decorates the leather. It is aesthetic to an extent, has a nice shape, and definitely does not look like it is trying to be something else. Everything has a touch of original character. Akhmadullina really knows how to use her imagination and talent to turn the what-seems-like an ordinary bag into veritable piece of art. Surely, it is not an easy job. And imagine holding a bag that is also a work of art. Wow, you might as well bring the life of fashionista to a new different level.
2. VALENTIN YUDASHKIN Spring Summer 2018 Bag
The new it-bag of 2018 is here, hot from the runway. The cute, adorable design is the distinctive part of the bag. Yudashkin keeps it simple and understated bringing in a minimalist white tone that goes with just any outfits. The bag itself belongs to micro bags family which I personally do not know what for, unless that it is omnipresent in the spring/summer handbag trends. It is suitable for summer holiday in Russia . If you are looking for a tiny, simple bag that can only contain a few stuffs, and if you are lucky enough, lipsticks and perfumes, then give it a try.
3. FLEET ILYA Box Bag
Watch out, fashionistas. There is a new go-to style with a lot more structure, extra and versatility to boot. Fleet Ilya gives you a pretty good combination of the erotic possibility of leather and restriction, as well as provides you with double sense of high fashion aesthetic and underground fantasy. It recalls the old-school design of a trunk case in bygone era. However, you cannot risk looking unbalanced with it, because Fleet Ilya adds a cross-body strap and a top handle. Thus, it will be easier for you to navigate and more importantly, you can be carefree and stylish at the very same time. Are you impressed yet?
4. LOLA BROWN Blueberry Bag
If you are looking for something simple for everyday clothing but still tap into the trend, this one is for you. Lola Brown strikes with full circle−the shape of the moment−and she makes it easy for us to see the appeal, not to mention the quirkiness. The bag is a perfect day-to-night bag. It comes in medium size with one internal compartment and two pockets, so that you can carry all your belongings in style. All you need to do to complement your looks is wear it with a pair of casual flat shoes to dress it down. Here is a little note to hint you something: the blueberry color goes well with those of pastel and monochromatic!

Leonid Titow is a famous Russian brand that creates apparel and accessories of leather in various styles. It is a brand for everyone, women and men. Check their product for men here.
