Prior to their official debut, Girls' Generation was known as "Super Girls", a fan-made name that reflected how SM Entertainment touted the group as the female version of Super Junior . The group was announced to include members with diverse talents and language skills for future expansion into international markets.

Throughout its pre-debut period, the group saw many lineup changes. However, perhaps its best known pre-debut lineup consisted of 12 members: Soyeon , Taeyeon , Jessica , Tiffany , Hyoyeon , Yuri , Sooyoung , Yoona , Hajin, Seohyun , Hwanhee and Chanmi . However, Soyeon, Hajin, Hwanhee and Chanmi all left or were cut from the group. A final trainee, Sunny , was added to the group shortly before its debut.

SNSD Generates Over 20 Billion Won (19 Million USD) from Japanese Arena Tour

SNSD Generates Over 20 Billion Won (19 Million USD) from Japanese Arena Tour

SNSD’s first Japanese concert tour, “Girls’ Generation Arena Tour 2011,” is coming to an end tonight with their concert in Fukuoka. SM Entertainment said the girl group’s total revenue from the tour is expected exceed 20 billion won ($19 million USD), as they attracted more than 140,000 fans from six cities. The figures are quite an accomplishment considering the fact that SNSD debuted in Japan less than a year ago, local media said.

SNSD kicked off their Japanese Arena Tour on May 31 st in Osaka. Over the next month and a half, the girls visited five other cities, including Saitama, Tokyo, Hiroshima, Nagoya, and Fukuoka, performing a total of 14 times, including tonight’s finale concert.

“Counting tonight’s concert, SNSD met over 140,000 fans through this Arena Tour,” SM Entertainment told local media. “When SNSD first debuted in Japan, they had more female fans, but now it appears their fan base has expanded to more male fans,” it added.

The total revenue is also quite impressive. Tickets to the Arena Tour cost around 124,500 won ($117 USD) per person. Multiply that by the total number of people in attendance (approximately 140,000) and you get around 18 billion won ($17 million USD). If you add on-site merchandise sales, SM Entertainment predicts the total revenue to easily surpass the 20 billion won ($19 million USD) mark.

But aside from the ticket sales and revenue, SNSD’s Arena Tour has much more meanings to the group’s success in Japan. Only the top musicians are given a chance to run an Arena Tour in Japan. But with less than a year of experience in Japan, SNSD has successfully run the event, and particularly as a foreign group, to be able to pull in more than 10,000 fans per concert is something even industry officials have not seen in the past.

In fact, due to heavy demand, SNSD had to change their initial tour plans from a four-city, seven concert plan to covering six cities over 14 concerts. Also, SNSD’s first Japanese full album “GIRLS GENERATION” ranked #1 on Oricon’s daily album chart on the day of its release, proving once again the high attention paid to the nine member girl group.

With their explosive popularity, SNSD has proven their star power in Japan with this Arena Tour. It should be interesting to see how much success they enjoy in Japan as it could serve as a good indication of how well they do in other parts of the world as well.

Alan Jackson expands Last Call: One More for the Road tour with 10 new shows: See the dates

snsd tour list

Alan Jackson is going out with a bang. The country music icon has added a new set of shows to his ongoing Last Call: One More for the Road farewell tour.

The Country Music Hall of Famer , 65, announced Thursday his plans to continue his Last Call: One More for the Road tour, which played to standing-room-only crowds in sold-out arenas coast-to-coast in 2022.

Jackson’s 2024-2025 tour will play an initial list of 10 arenas across the U.S., with each show marking the last time he’ll ever perform in that city and surrounding areas.

“I’ve been touring for over 30 years — my daughters are all grown, we have one grandchild and one on the way," Jackson said in a statement. "I’m enjoying spending more time at home. But my fans always show up to have a good time, and I’m going to give them the best show I can for this Last Call."

The three-time CMA Entertainer of the Year will play his final tour as he continues to live with Charcot-Marie-Tooth, a chronic neuropathy condition that he first revealed in 2021 . The disorder has affected his ability to move and keep balance onstage.

“Fans know when they come to my shows, they’re going to hear the songs that made me who I am — the ones they love,” Jackson said in his tour announcement.

Sturgill Simpson plays guitar onstage.

In the early ’80s, madcap performance artist and comedy genius Andy Kaufman invented a cantankerous alter ego named Tony Clifton.

A decade later, Garth Brooks introduced rocker “Chris Gaines” to the public. More recently, Joe Jackson started performing as music hall entertainer Max Champion.

Now, we can add Sturgill Simpson to the list of stars that have shed their persona and began a second life as an entirely new artist.

Simpson, 45, just announced he will take off on his ‘Why Not? Tour’ this fall in support of Johnny Blue Skies’ upcoming album “Passage du Desir,” due out July 12.

Along the way, Simpson/Blue Skies will drop into Queens, NY’s Forest Hills Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 19.

As for special guests, he’ll be joined by Lord Huron for just one show on the run; that’s the Sept. 20 gig at George, WA’s Gorge Amphitheater .

And while we don’t know whether Simpson Johnny Blue Skies will perform tracks from Simpson’s catalog or just new Blue Skies material, we do know the best way to find out is live.

Fans can purchase tickets for all upcoming shows on sites like Vivid Seats ; the official on-sale is Friday, June 14.

Vivid Seats is a secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.

They have a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and will be delivered before the event.

Sturgill Simpson tour schedule 2024

A complete calendar including tour dates, venues and links to buy tickets for all upcoming ‘Why Not? Tour’ shows can be found below.

Sturgill Simpson 2024 festival appearances

On top of the tour, Simpson is scheduled to headline at a pair of major mutli-day music extravaganzas.

For a closer look at who he’s performing with, here’s everything you need to know — including fellow headliners — about Simpson’s 2024 festival appearances:

Sturgill Simpson new music

While doing PR for his 2021 album “The Ballad of Dood & Juanita,” Simpson told Rolling Stone he only wanted to release five albums of original material.

This led to the Johnny Blue Skies loophole and the upcoming “Passage du Desir” album. You can find the track list here:

01.) Swamp of Sadness 02.) If the Sun Never Rises Again 03.) Scooter Blues 04.) Jupiter’s Faerie 05.) Who I Am 06.) Right Kind of Dream 07.) Mint Tea 08.) One for the Road

As of now, the only existing Blue Skies material is the 2023 single “Use Me (Brutal Hearts)” he recorded with Diplo.
