Narcoleptic Youth
Narcoleptic Youth is a punk rock band, formed in Corona, California in either 1992, 1994, or 1996 depending on which member you ask! Their sound has been described as a mixture of early UK and US styles of punk fused with intelligent, often subliminally sarcastic lyrics which revolve around anything from modern politics to social commentary to psychological fantasy. While they donât immitate any one particular sound, their music has often been compared to that of groups like The Dead Kennedys, Adolescents, Subhumans, and Black Flag. The band built up a strong local following in the late 90s through playing shows with D.I., UK Subs, Youth Brigade, Fear, The Dickies, Vice Squad, Peter and the Test Tube Babies, The Misfits, Agent Orange, TSOL, The Angry Samoans, and their largest show to date opening for The Subhumans in front of 6,000 people. Their first release was a split album with fellow Southern California punk band The Atomic Bombs in 1997 on Nigma Records. For the following two years, the band worked non-stop on building up one of, if not the, largest fan bases out of all the current Southern California punk rock groups. During these two years, they moved up from being the âgo toâ direct support band for the âlegendsâ to the headliner themselves. They also released several singles including: Classified (Cassette), The Good The Bad and the Fugly(CD), Barbi In Bondage (Pink Vinyl 7â), and Vicious Killers split with The Voids (both Black and Pink Vinyl 7â). In total, theyâve sold over 5,000 singles without any backing from a record label. The group ushered in the new millenium with the critically acclaimed, and self released, âHow To Fake Your Deathâ full length album. According to lead vocalist and producer of the album, Joey Bondage, âIt was not our intent, but it actually turned into a dark concept album with a slight twist of comedy. I wanted to put out an album that would silence any critic we ever hadâ¦from start to finish.â And that they certainly did! By the end of the year, they were selling out well known clubs all across Southern California such as The Glasshouse in Pomona, Chain Reaction in Anaheim, and The Showcase Theatre in Corona just to name a few. In 2004, Finger Records took notice of the bands growing fan base and released âChronological Disorderâ, a singles collection, which quickly became the labels top selling album. Narcoleptic Youth also began stepping up into bigger venues opening for groups like The Dead Kennedys at The House of Blues in Anaheim, CA., TSOL at The Henry Fonda Theater in Los Angeles, CA., The Adolescents at Soma in San Diego, CA., as well as tours all across the southwest from Sacramento, CA. to Phoenix, AZ. as direct support for groups like The Adolescents and The Adicts. In addition to these tours the band has also performed in festivals such as several dates on the Warped Tour in 2004, and a co-headlining spot on the 2004 Supercade Music Fest at the Orange Pavilion in San Bernardino with groups such as The Aquabats, Death By Stereo, Strung Out, Throwrag, and The Start. Yet another album was released in 2004 on Galeforce Records called âSomething Old, Something New, Something Borrowedâ, a 4 song EP with two bonus track cover songs: Ignite (Damned) and Bullet (Misfits), as well as 5 live tracks from their show opening for the Subhumans back in 1998. The album was produced by Ulysses Noriega , mastered by East Bay Ray of the Dead Kennedys, and featured artwork by Pete Dee of The Adicts. While the group has gone through a few line up changes over the years, one thing has definitely remained consistent, that being the groups legendary live concerts which have been known to include not only top notch musical performances, but also whipped cream, cross dressing, Barbie dolls and a few other things we probably shouldnât mention! Narcoleptic Youth continues to record and pack out venues with original members: Joey Bondage (vocals), Johnny Cat

Maine’s only youth prison has hired a new leader to oversee the facility.
Ryan Andersen has been appointed superintendent of the Long Creek Youth Development Center, the Maine Department of Corrections announced on Tuesday.
Andersen had been deputy superintendent at Long Creek since 2022. He filled in as acting superintendent after the facility’s former leader, Lynn Allen, resigned in March .
He first joined the department 17 years ago as a juvenile program worker, the announcement said. Andersen became the state’s manager of correctional operations in 2014 and deputy director of operations in early 2022.
Leader of Maine’s youth prison steps down
Commissioner Randall Liberty praised Andersen for his “unique leadership style” in a written statement. He said Andersen shares the department’s “rehabilitative vision of providing an environment that is safe, supportive, secure and focused on helping youths reenter society in a productive way.”
Andersen said he’s excited for the new role. Advertisement
“My ultimate goal for Long Creek is to promote a culture of continuous improvement that will provide better outcomes for our youth, provide a safe and fulfilling work environment for our employees, and ultimately create stronger communities for our youth to return to,” Andersen said in a statement from the department.
Long Creek houses people younger than 21 who have either been charged with or found guilty of crimes.
For years, the facility has struggled with dire staffing shortages. In February, department leaders told lawmakers that these shortages have made it harder to supervise residents and implement alternative housing programs.
As problems at Long Creek persist, staffing shortages forced the state to close 2 alternative sites for juveniles
The Center for Children’s Law and Policy, a Washington, D.C., firm that the state hired to review Long Creek in 2017 and 2021, identified “chronic staffing shortages” as a major issue at least twice. The center also linked major periods of unrest at the time to low levels of supervision and “counter intuitive” forms of punishment.
Lawmakers and advocates for juvenile justice reform have tried to close Long Creek, but the governor has vetoed such legislation because she said there was no other secure facility to place young people who might be a risk to themselves or others.

Luke Wierman puts Maryland in control and in the NCAA lacrosse title game
The standout on faceoffs controlled play as the Terps scored a 12-6 win over Virginia to reach a 17th NCAA title game. They’ll face Notre Dame on Monday.
PHILADELPHIA — Luke Wierman scored just once for seventh-seeded Maryland in Saturday’s NCAA men’s lacrosse tournament semifinal. Still, the graduate midfielder was invaluable during a 12-6 triumph over sixth-seeded Virginia at Lincoln Financial Field.
A deeper dive into the box score underscored as much: Wierman won 15 of 22 faceoffs, including 10 of 12 in the first half. That disparity not only provided extra possessions, a handful of which led to goals, but also kept the ball away from Virginia’s prolific graduate attack duo of Connor Shellenberger and Payton Cormier.
The Terrapins (11-5) are headed to Monday’s national championship game against top-seeded Notre Dame, a 13-6 winner against fifth-seeded Denver in Saturday’s other semifinal. As they try to deny the defending champion Fighting Irish, the Terps will seek their second national title in three years. Maryland will be making its 17th appearance in the NCAA final and its eighth under Coach John Tillman.
“We didn’t maybe get off to the greatest start at first, but … [Wierman] seemed to be locked in and ready to go,” Tillman said of the Terps’ career leader in faceoff wins and groundballs. “So offensively I think that definitely gives us some confidence. Luke is awesome.”
With senior attackman Daniel Kelly contributing three goals and Wierman collecting 10 groundballs, both game highs, Maryland continued its offensive resurgence. In three NCAA tournament games, the Terps have scored 42 times while limiting two of their opponents to eight goals or fewer. Before a crowd of 32,269, Maryland avenged a 14-10 loss March 16 in College Park. Wierman went 16 for 28 on faceoffs in that one.
Goalie Logan McNaney had eight saves Saturday, five of which came in the second half as Maryland opened an 11-4 lead going into the fourth quarter. The decisive third period featured the Terps scoring four of the five goals. Graduate midfielder Ryan Siracusa and junior attackman Eric Spanos (two goals, three assists) buried the last two within three minutes of each other.
The close defense tandem of senior Ajax Zappitello, the No. 3 selection in the Premier Lacrosse League draft and the most decorated player at his position in program history, and junior Colin Burlace limited Shellenberger and Cormier to two goals on 10 shots while forcing them into six turnovers. Shellenberger is Virginia’s career leader in points, and Cormier is the NCAA’s all-time leader in goals.
“Ajax is incredible,” Burlace said of Zappitello stifling Shellenberger after getting beaten for a one-on-one goal in the first quarter. “We have the utmost confidence in him to win his matchup and do his job, which allows us to kind of do our own thing and not worry about that as much. And being able to take a player like Connor Shellenberger and kind of put him on an island with Ajax, I mean, Shellenberger is going to get his every now and then, but we trust Ajax.”
Freshman attackman McCabe Millon scored two goals for the Cavaliers (12-6), whose undoing included a 38-29 deficit in groundballs and just 15 shots on goal. Sophomore goalie Kyle Morris stopped five shots after getting the starting nod over Matthew Nunes. The junior, who was uneven this season, had started every game of his career except for two appearances coming off the bench during senior day in Charlottesville.
Last week, during an 11-10 upset of No. 3 seed Johns Hopkins in the quarterfinals, Virginia Coach Lars Tiffany pulled Nunes in the first quarter after he permitted four goals on five shots. This time, Nunes replaced Morris at the start of the fourth quarter with the outcome all but decided. Maryland had a 7-3 lead at halftime after stringing together an early 6-1 run.
“Unfortunately, we were on the wrong side of possession today, and [credit] Luke Wierman — credit that first half, where it was really lopsided,” Tiffany said after the Cavaliers scored their fewest goals since he took over in 2016 . “We were generating a lot of shots, but we just weren’t putting them on cage, and we were playing too much defense as it went on.
“It was one of those days where we needed the ball more. Luke Wierman wouldn’t allow that to happen.”

Richard Dreyfuss’ son Ben reacts to actor’s alleged sexist, transphobic comments at ‘Jaws’ event

Thanks for contacting us. We've received your submission.
Richard Dreyfuss’ son Ben Dreyfuss weighed in on the transphobic and misogynistic comments his father allegedly made at a recent “Jaws” event.
“Wow, just looked at my phone and learned about the disgusting outrageous behavior of one of my relatives,” the 37-year-old joked on X Monday alongside a screenshot of a text message from his sister announcing she had purchased an Android phone.
Ben, whom Richard shares with his ex-wife Jeramie Rain, then wrote of his father in a second post , “well, now you know why I refused to give him the password to his own twitter account for a decade lol.”
“This will be my only statement on the matter. thank you,” he concluded .
Ben later clarified his statements , saying that he did not call his dad “disgusting” or “outrageous” but meant it as a joke about his sister getting an Android.
He somberly added , “My dad and I disagree about lots of stuff. But it’s a free country. People are allowed to have different opinions about stuff.”
Ben’s response came after Richard, 76, made headlines for allegedly going on a rant about transgender children and diversity Saturday during a ticketed screening of his 1975 movie at the Cabot theater in Beverly, Mass.
While video of the actor’s full remarks has not been released, attendees were quick to call him out on social media.
“We walked out of his interview tonight along with hundred of others because of his racist homophobic mysogynistic [sic] rant,” one person commented on the venue’s Facebook page.
An X user, meanwhile, said her girlfriend’s parents attended the event and attached a screenshot of a text message from one of them.
“Went off the rails talking about how Barbra Streisand is a genius but he didn’t listen to her because she is a woman and women shouldn’t have that power. Then started sharing his views on the me too movement and started down the road on how you shouldn’t be listening to some 10 year old who says they want to to be a boy instead of a girl,” the message read.

Another X user claimed Richard said “women shouldn’t have any power” and instead should “be quiet and meek.”
“When asked about the #MeToo movement he said ‘those people make me want to vomit’ and that he didn’t want to listen to 8 year olds saying that they were born in the wrong body,” the same person echoed.
Despite many people walking out of the theater and expressing their disdain for the Oscar winner’s comments, several audience members stayed until the end and even clapped and cheered for him, as seen in one brief clip .
“It’s about the fact that 50 years ago, without telling anybody, they took civics out of the curriculum of all public schools in America, which means we have no knowledge of who the hell we are. And if we don’t get it back soon, we’re all going to die. Make sure your kids are not the last generation of Americans. And you know exactly what I’m talking about,” he said.
The Cabot later issued an apology for Richard’s “distressing” remarks.
“We deeply regret that Mr. Dreyfuss’s comments during the event were not in line with the values of inclusivity and respect that we uphold at the Cabot. We understand that his remarks were distressing and offense to many of our community members, and for that, we sincerely apologize,” executive director J. Casey Soward wrote in an email to guests.
The theater further told the Hollywood Reporter that it was “aware of, and share[s] serious concerns, following the recent event with Richard Dreyfuss.”
“The views expressed by Mr. Dreyfuss do not reflect the values of inclusivity and respect that we uphold as an organization. We deeply regret the distress that this has caused to many of our patrons,” it said in a statement.
A rep for Richard did not return Page Six’s request for comment, and the movie star has not addressed his alleged comments himself.
