2023 Ford Excursion: The All-New Ford Excursion Review

2023 Ford Excursion: Ford hasn’t built a Super Duty Excursion SUV in years. But that hasn’t stopped many from wishing that were still the case. That’s why MegaRexx Trucks turned the F-250 into the new Excursion. And if you like it, you can buy one of these giant seven-seater SUVs.

One would expect an over-the-top truck from MegaRexx of Castle Hayne, NC. He calls this extra-large three-row SUV “MegaRexx SVN.” We featured other company trucks, such as the MegaRaptor and MegaBronc trucks. When it comes to a Ford pickup in a bed, it’s usually a MegaRexx creation.

First, MegaRexx made a long roof out of aluminum. Later, it turned out that the F-250 bank had become part of the cockpit. Easier said than done, we know. It blends in with other F-250s and is not just a fiberglass cover.

The long strip of stained glass windows in a spectacular presentation does not go unnoticed. Inside, the darkness continues with the Lariat Ultimate fully covered in leather. This and much more give the interior a very luxurious look. The first and second-row seats are equipped with individual power seats.

The rear seats use the third-row seats from the Ford Expedition. These are upholstered like the front and center row bucket seats. And third-row passengers get their own Vintage Air climate control system. With Lariat Ultimate trim, the front seats are heated and ventilated. The package includes a Ford Sync 4 infotainment system and a 10-speaker Bang and Olufsen sound system.

2023 Ford Excursion Review

2023 Excursion When Ford contacted the United States Patent and Trademark Office and filed for the rights to the Excursion name in April, the interest of big SUV lovers around the world was piqued.

2023 Ford Excursion

Aside from bringing back the Bronco, is Ford planning on relaunching the most significant SUV ever produced? Rumors started to surface, the excitement grew, and we decided to theorize what the 2023 version of the coveted “Ex” might look like.

Of course, in keeping with the three-quarter tonne foundation used from ”00-’05, this version will also be based on the Super Duty platform. Ford will offer the diesel option again.

Imagine the Platinum Edition traveling through the age of modern equipment, equipped with a powerful 6.7 liter 1050 lb-ft stepper motor paired with a new 10-speed TorqShift derailleur and full stroke belt.

Like the booming SUV market in the United States, the Excursion appeals to those looking for a three-row heavy-duty vehicle. Arriving in the fall of 1999 as the ’00 model, the ‘Ex ditched the GM Suburban, boasting the longest (226-inch), widest (80-inch), and tallest (77-inch) SUV ever produced by any of the Big Three. It can also pull 10,000 pounds thanks to the Super Duty-ton frame, suspension, axles (a solid front on the 4×4 model), and the Class IV hitch that comes standard.

Some 15 years after Excursion discontinued production in the United States (which produced a limited number of 2006 models for Mexico), General Motors has unrivaled control over most SUVs.

But how long can GM’s dominance last? In the eyes of many, the Dearborn automaker seems interested again in the mouthwatering cake. After all, a fully functional new suburb could easily cost well over $80,000.

The Excursion was introduced 2000 as the American automaker’s most considerable SUV. It was placed on top of the already massive Expedition. Ford stops selling Excursions after the 2005 model year.

Ford Excursion Extended

Will Ford bring back the Excursion? After applying for many trademarks for Bronco, the company iCompanyenewing the “Excursion” trademark. This studio apartment-sized SUV was discontinued in 2006, but Ford revived the moniker again; instead, updating the trademark for now.

New 2023 Ford Excursion

The all-new 2023 Ford Excursion is the subject of much speculation lately. This is the largest SUV ever produced and will be returning shortly. This F-250-based SUV was last produced in 2005, and now Ford can bring the iconic model back to life. According to many reports, this model will be launched once again at some point in 2020.

Tours will get a redesign, a new engine, and new architecture. The SUV segment proliferates, and the Excursion will become an instant hit. Both diesel and petrol engines will be offered. In addition, the Blue Oval will introduce several trim levels and the possibility of a high-performance variant.

The upcoming 2023 Ford Excursion will be the largest SUV in its segment. Previously, the Excursion was 226 inches long. For comparison, the Expedition MAX is 222 inches long.

Moreover, the Chevrolet Suburban has a length of 224 inches. However, it is an extended version, and Excursions are not. Ford plans to present a new design that will look unique and modern.

As before, the 2023 excursion will borrow some hints from the F-250 truck. According to the latest reports, this SUV will offer many standard equipment and innovative features. Generally, when it arrives, the 2023 Ford Excursion will look strong and probably go up on a new platform.

Behind the flashy facade of an Oxnard, California store, Howard Becker turned ordinary SUVs and vans into ultraluxe transportation for Edgar Bronfman Jr., Tiger Woods, and King Abdullah of Jordan.

His clients wanted Rolls-Royce or Maybach gear but preferred to do so unnoticed; the cars tended to be interesting—at least for some time.

2023 Ford Excursion Redesign

Ford hasn’t had a 2023 Ford Excursion in its lineup since 2005, when the latter was started at the Louisville plant in Kentucky. It was indirectly replaced by the Expedition, leaving a gap in the Blue Oval family that still hadn’t been filled, or had it?

2023 Ford Excursion SUV

Meet the 2023 Ford Excursion from an exceptional nation, imagination. It was sketched by innov8designlab and shared on social media a few hours ago, and looks ready to tackle some steep slopes and slippery trails, so long as it fits.

Its sheer size, as it was hypothetically built on top of the Super Duty, as the original was at the time, would have provided a spacious interior with lots of leg and headroom and a vast cargo area. The 4×4’s ample storage space has been further enhanced in this regard, as it features a roof rack for hauling additional gear, complete with a set of LED lights above the windscreen.

The steel bumpers at either end, finished in the same blue as the rest of the exterior, are another highlight of this digital assembly, which also has plenty of ground clearance thanks to the new suspension. The wheels are wrapped in fat tires that are supposed to improve traction in sticky and slippery conditions, and an additional light bar is mounted on the front bumper.

As for that impressive face, it comes straight from Super Duty, albeit with a few tweaks. The unofficial interpretation of the modern Excursions had large side mirrors and no side steps, making getting in and out tricky.

2023 Ford Excursion Interior

New Excursions Hardly anything fits into a crowd more quickly than the usual Ford Excursions 2023 platform or E-350 Super Duty van-Becker. Still, nothing goes out of the ordinary with the interior.

The typical layout of the convertible SUV calls for eliminating the second and third-row seats, replaced by two large seats and up to three rear-facing jump seats, all upholstered in high-grade leather.

Beautifully finished wood trim accents the cabin. The large flat-screen monitor doubles as a divider that can be raised, lowered, and connected to entertainment systems and computers. The satellite link, wireless keyboard, phone, and foldable desk allow for full connectivity during travel.

The chairs recline fully for relaxation, and CDs and DVDs provide entertainment. (With the advent of Wi-Fi networks, in-car entertainment options are expanding. We’ll soon be able to enjoy media downloads from our home computers.)

The SUV’s ride quality is much better than we hoped for, thanks to exclusive suspension modifications, and there’s no way we’ll flinch. Wake up from a nap. Vans – generally Ford or Mercedes-Benz Sprinter – offer a more significant size of space and versatility – individual chairs or sofas, for example. And because they are more fashionable than SUVs, vans can also achieve a lower profile.

2023 Ford Excursion Exterior

On the outside, the MegaRexx SVN Super Duty has a modest two ½-inch lift and a leveling system built by Carli Suspension. The 20-inch Fuel Militia wheels support the 35-inch Nitto Ridge Grappler off-road ring. Tubular side steps are used because of the tires; that lift is part of the package.

MegaRexx ID badges are everywhere. Both the front and rear fenders have them, along with C-pillar badging. Also etched into the tailgate is “MegaRexx.” The only identification appears on the dash, as you’d expect from a high-end custom SUV.

2023 Ford Excursion Various levels of stealth can be achieved. Make Excursion or GMC Denali views fully accessible instead of telling you. Define an all-black look with unique wheels and a roof-mounted satellite gearbox that other drivers will see. Most Becker cars fall somewhere in the middle.

2023 Ford Excursion

The importance of stealth usually depends on our security considerations. Becker’s first task was to create an environment that was as normal as possible. Tactile sensations such as fully functional windows make adults feel less cramped, and children may not even notice they are driving. Armored Vehicles We believe that an armored ride feels heavier than a standard vehicle and not as narrow as some armored cars on the market today.

The engine is the same as the original Excursion, providing three different power systems (5.4L Triton V8, 6.8L Triton V10, and 7.3L Power Stroke V8 Diesel), and now also offers three engine types. The Ford-verified 6.2-liter V8 gas tank is standard (left), with the optional 7.3-liter V8 petrol engine (center) and the new 6.7-liter power stroke diesel engine (right) of the high-quality engine.

If you want to get bigger, you better try. Previously, Ford offered the 7.3-liter V8 diesel engine with Power Stroke as an advanced engine option that can provide better fuel economy, torque, and load or no-load handling. It doesn’t make sense to give compression ignition anymore. This time, it’s worth noting that the 6.7-liter Power Stroke is an ultra-quiet high-pressure fuel injection burner.

Ironically, the power and torque are the 2000 Power Stroke 7.3 liter (475 power). horses and 1,050 pounds) yields. Feet with 235 horsepower and 500 pound-feet). For trucks, it’s difficult without a base engine (remember, this is a 6.2-liter V8 in our imaginary world), as there is a known 430 horsepower variant of the 7.3-liter engine in the desktop engine.

The V8 engine is the largest and most powerful in its class, but its traditional overhead cam block design differs significantly from all the cam jobs we’ve seen at Ford over the years (think 1996).

READ NEXT: Introducing New 2024 Ford Super Duty Full-Size Truck Review

The four-hole cast iron electrical unit, wedge-shaped aluminum burner head, and adjustable timing control single-phase hydraulic pulley make the 7.3-liter gas popular in the overloaded segment of the market. Just as the 7.3-liter petrol engine and 6.7-liter power-stroke engine benefit from the Super Duty version of the new 10-speed TorqShift automatic transmission, the same linkage will (and maybe) be used for short trips.

The transmission ratio of the first gear numbered 10R140 is 4, and the very low 61:1 0.674:1 is six gears from the previous 6R140). To achieve the best fuel consumption. While we’re pleased that the new Megalodon SUV is equipped with a Dana M275 rear axle and a Ford HD trailer kit for the F350 and F250, the odds of Ford using £10.5 are much higher.

The 5-inch sprocket shaft is proven and strong enough to do a lot of work, but it’s the same shaft used on the original Excursion 20 years ago. Ford, if you’re listening (and planning to keep the roots of the hiking bounty intact), please give us the M275 with a 10.8-inch gear ring, 4-inch axle tube diameter, and 36 spline shaft (3-tube axle for comparison)). Sterling Sports is 0.5 inches smaller and has 35 splines).

The coil spring front suspension of the Hyundai Super Duty has often been criticized for its stiffness, significantly when (not surprisingly) idle. Automotive employees usually carry out this assessment.

Trust me, the suspension system is the same regarding ride quality. Ford has been using it in its trucks since 2005, a few light-years earlier than the leaf spring of all 4×4 Excursion 00’05 models.

This time around (albeit based on the Super Duty platform), a whole box frame will also be standard equipment for touring. A 3-inch stack of leaf springs awaits you at either end of the rear axle.

2023 Ford Excursion Price

Starting price is $179,950. Initially, it’s enough to make you think twice. Remember that this is a unique vehicle that can easily transport your family, friends, toys, and more. And it’s big. If you want big, this is it.

Honestly, the Excursion convertible looks like it came from Ford. Some aftermarket hatchet jobs look like hatchet jobs. MegaRexx has done many similar conversions and has been doing them for several years. So come on, don’t be afraid. Ride in the mighty 2023 Ford F-250 Super Duty Excursion.

2023 Ford Excursion Release Date

There is no official timeline yet regarding the release schedule of the 2023 Ford Excursion, the Company hCompanyn care not to reveal any information about the model, so it isn’t easy to find out the truth. However, the Ford Excursion 2023 is expected to be released around February to May next year.

The Ford Excursion is one of the most giant SUVs on the market. While its size may bother those who think SUVs are already too big, this is a work vehicle.

This Ford Excursion has a carrying capacity of nine people and a towing capacity of 11,000 pounds. There’s nothing like it, whether you need to tow a horse trailer, a big boat, or half a Little League team.

We like the fact that the four-wheel-drive Ford Excursion has two engine options: the 6.8-liter Triton V-10 or the 7.3-liter Power Stroke turbodiesel. The Power Stroke engine is ideal for large hauls because 500 foot-pounds of torque can be accessed at low rpm. Although diesel engines are noisier than petrol engines in the city, they are quiet on the highway.

The Ford Excursion has greater towing capacity as well as better gas mileage. In city driving, our test truck’s computer averaged 13.7 miles per gallon, better than the V-10. On the interstate, the diesel should be able to get 17 or 18 mpg, which is not bad considering the size and weight of the vehicle.

We’ll be back soon with more on the 2023 Ford Excursion , so make sure you bookmark our website to stay updated with the latest Ford Excursion  news, 2023 Ford Excursion  news, and information on other Ford models on the road.

The MegaRexx SVN Ford F-250 ‘Excursion’ is a murdered-out masterpiece

MegaRexx SVN Ford F-250 'Excursion'

Over-the-top trucks are a MegaRexx specialty. The Castle Hayne, North Carolina-based outfit calls this three-row extra-large SUV the “MegaRexx SVN.” We’ve covered the company’s other creations, including the MegaRaptor and MegaBronc . When it comes to Ford trucks on bath salts, MegaRexx delivers.

First, the company fashions a long roof from aluminum. Then it turns the F-250 bed into a part of the cabin. Easier said than done, we know. It’s integrated with the rest of the F-250 , not just a fiberglass bed cap.

The long expanse of tinted windows in the murdered-out presentation goes almost unnoticed.

Inside, the blackness continues with leather-trimmed Lariat Ultimate everything. That and more give the cabin an upscale appearance.

The front and second-row seating feature power bucket seats. And the rear uses a Ford Expedition third row, trimmed like the front and middle-row bucket seats. Additionally, the third-row passengers get a Vintage Air climate-controlled system. And with the Lariat Ultimate trim, the front seats come heated and ventilated.

Also, expect the Ford Sync 4 infotainment system and a 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system as part of the package.

Outside, the MegaRexx SVN Super Duty receives a modest 2.5-inch lift, along with a Carli Suspension leveling system. The 20-inch rims are Fuel Militia wheels, supporting 35-inch Nitto Ridge Grappler off-road hoops. Thanks to those tires and lift, tubular side steps are also part of the package.

In addition, you’ll find plenty of MegaRexx ID badging on the exterior. The front and rear fenders get badges, as do the C-pillars. Also, the company name is emblazoned on the tailgate. Inside, the only identification appears on the dash, expected for a high-end custom SUV .

How much does a MegaRexx SVN Ford F-250 ‘Excursion’ cost?

The starting price is $179,950. At first, that’s enough to make you think twice. But this vehicle is truly unique, yet it can haul family, friends, toys, and more with ease. And it’s big. If you want big, the MegaRexx SVN is it.

Furthermore, this Excursion conversion looks like it came from Ford. Some other aftermarket creations look like hatchet jobs. MegaRexx has done plenty of similar conversions for the past few years. So don’t be afraid. Step up to a large, luxe, rugged 2023 Ford F-250 Super Duty “Excursion.”

Excursion (2023) ‘Locarno’ Movie Review: Curiosity Kills the Truth with an Alarming Dare

Excursion (2023) ‘Locarno’ Movie Review : Iman arrives at the doorstep of her house with an urge to go inside swiftly. She enters her house silently and closes the door slowly so as not to wake her parents. Yet, she stays there and stares at the floor for a long time. A series of question-answer sessions starts rolling in her mind to rectify her moves. Has she done the right thing despite eliminating the morality of her moves? Would her moves help her or lure her into destruction? Most importantly, is she willing to face the consequences due to her harmful curiosity?

I have seen many women-centric films that optimize feminism toward a positive end. Be it the 2020 film Never Rarely Sometimes Always by Eliza Hittman or the 2023 Marathi film Sthal by Jayant Somalkar, women have entered an era of acquiring equality and progression. In Excursion , director Una Gunjak handles a different aspect of feminism by examining a teenager’s reckless falsehood and emotional immaturity. We see Iman, a teenage girl, being adventurous among her classmates.

During a Truth or Dare game, gossip of Iman having a sexually intimate night with her crush, Damir, pops up out of nowhere. While everyone around her gazes at Iman for confirmation, Iman nods and agrees to the rumor without hesitation. The rumor’s foundation is built on pure speculation, while Iman seizes the opportunity to make her wildest fantasies a reality. What comes after is a blast of unexpected events that progresses into a bigger and broader catastrophe.

In a recent interview, director Una Gunjak explained that a reported event of seven girls getting pregnant at the same time in Banja Luka, Bosnia, became the talk of the nation. Excursion , which focuses on the experiences of teenage girls in Bosnia in the throes of romantic attraction, draws its inspiration from this odd event. The director wants the audience to understand the thought process of female teenagers who are curious to understand intimacy and find the right path to gain it.

It is evident through a session where Iman’s classmates start asking detailed questions regarding her intimate night with Damir. Inquiries such as “How long did the process last? Does it cause you to bleed? Did it hurt you?” were thrown towards Iman for an answer. However, doubts also arise among them. Questions like “Isn’t it too early for you to have intimacy? and How come you weren’t scared when it happened?” strengthen the aspect of instinct despite the lack of knowledge among them.

A still from Excursion (2023).

One of the major findings that I grasped from Excursion is the power of infatuation, which has the ability to blur a person’s mind from reality. The film doesn’t venture deep into the psychological influence but focuses more on the reasoning behind adverse decisions. Iman hails from a mildly dysfunctional family, but the element of love is still present among the family members. However, Iman’s coming-of-age phase is characterized by a heightened sensitivity to infatuation, the strongest emotion among all teenagers.

The desperation of acquiring love advances into a toxic obsession within Iman to take a darker step. The questions here are: does the lack of attachment within Iman lead to risky decisions? Does loneliness have negative implications for an individual over a long time? As the film progresses, we are exposed to deeper unethical twists. Iman’s sudden decision to evolve her lie with another lie furthers the narrative into a darker scenario. This raises the following issues – Is fame worth a lie? Why do most teenage dreams involve betrayal and lessons? These questions may not have simple answers.

The parallel perceptions among students and parents on education and freedom are also brought into the picture. We see parents having significant concerns about the safety of their kids for a school trip. On the other hand, we see teenagers planning to claim their freedom through traveling. Their perception is based on personal funds and their fascination with the destination, which comes from their ideas about leisure. The varied perspective of obligations is certain here, as teenagers are mainly carefree while adults are laden with responsibilities.

A scene of Iman’s mom having an intense conversation with Iman following the evolution of the rumor underlines the mother-daughter’s fragile relationship. We witness the process of Iman’s mother delicately diffusing the situation to understand her daughter’s point of view, which is beguiling to experience. The performance of Maja Izetbegovic as Iman’s mother is a notable aspect of Excursion despite her brief screen time.

We also see Iman’s friend, Hana, struggling with her feelings of love. Iman and Hana are close friends and very much inseparable. A strong friendship is evidenced by their apparent enjoyment of one another’s company whenever they are together. However, there is a difference between both individuals in the aspect of critical thinking. Despite seeing him around her neighborhood, Hana seems to be taking things slowly with her crush, whom she has not met physically. Iman’s move of forcing them to meet deviates from Hana’s principle. Hana believes that rushing for love isn’t her thing, which upsets Iman. Iman’s decision to influence Hana to become like her inevitably has repercussions on their friendship. Hana is who Iman could be if her decisions were made with patience and maturity.

Excursion , which won the Special Mention Award at the 2023 Locarno Film Festival, is Bosnia’s entry for the Academy Awards this year. The film ambitiously explores the psychological makeup of adolescence and teen sexuality. The film tends to withhold pertinent questions and wants us to read between the lines for the answers. Due to its sparse screenplay, certain viewers might find it challenging to comprehend the film’s core elements fully. However, Excursion’s final moments will reward them with clarity and satisfaction.

The empathy for the plight of the modern young of Eighth Grade ; the thoughtful examination of why people lie about sex of Easy A ; the satirical deconstruction of the herd mentality of parents of Bad Luck Banging ; the unflinching honesty towards youthful violence of Beautiful Beings ; the age-related power dynamics of Palm Trees and Power Lines ; all wrapped in layers of class, race and gender discrimination, with a powerful lead performance and the courage to approach the appropriate stakes of this subject matter. A dark, hard-hitting Bosnian teen movie that tells the story of a lie getting out of hand. Absolutely phenomenal performance from the young lead actress. I loved this.

danger of lying: takes on a life of its own, beyond forgiveness

/// A focused Bosnian coming-of-age cautionary tale about an 8th grader lying to seem cool to her peers, only for that lie to balloon until it fully exposes herself to an unforgiving community. The scariest part of the film is how she's treated by adults after her lie catches their attention. Teenagers are shitty by nature, but teachers and parents should know better.

The latter half is a lot more compelling than the slow build of the first. Solid opening, strong ending, and a slightly meandering middle.

FFO 2024 - #8

Sadly a forgettable movie that could've been memorable instead. Excursion is based off a very clever and relevant topic, one that will stay relevant for generations to come. Unfortunately it fails to go beyond that, as there's no real thought-provoking aspect to the story. You could kind of compare it to an everlasting cliffhanger that never comes to its right, because there is nothing to actually follow up what happens. Basically, the movie equivalent of blue balls.

Now to explain why this isn't lower than 2.5, it does introduce some interesting ideas and characters. The setting is what works best, especially when you see these young characters move freely in their environment, searching for their place…

“He wouldn’t brag about it if he didn’t want me.”

Excursion is the International Feature submission from Bosnia. Director Una Gunjak latest film is about a young girl named Iman, who’s in the eighth grade. Along with her best friend, Hana, the two of them spend most of their time alone. Seeking acceptance from her classmates, during a game of “truth or dare,” Iman lies to her peers that she’s had sex with an older boy named Damir.

All the girls in her class are intrigued by this revelation and Iman begins to be a part of their group, a part of their world. They want to know how it all happened, how it felt, how it’s like to…

Review by TheGeeqer ★★

Bosnia & Herzegovina's Oscar submission was weak. 'Excursion' is a standard movie about a child seeking confirmation from her peers and doing so by using imaginary sex experiences she had. It has the potential to be good but doesn't achieve that and feels pointless. It could have been executed in a good way if it avoided dumb ideas and developments. It has some things that I could resonate with or understand in our character's actions but that's it. The acting wasn't the worst but didn't add value either. No surprise that this wasn't chosen by The Academy for an award.

2023 Ford Excursion Comeback: More Than Rumor

2023 Ford Excursion

Today’s market is full of SUVs with pretty impressive dimensions but back in the day, there were even bigger models. This primarily refers to Ford Excursion, which was in production between 1999 and 2005. It is one of the biggest SUVs ever made, based on the F-250 Super Duty pickup . These days, we are getting reports about the possible comeback of the nameplate. Allegedly, the blue oval company is already working on the new model, which could come as the 2023 Ford Excursion.

At this point, the revived Excursion is just a rumor. The officials are still quiet, so it’s hard to talk about details. On the other hand, we may presume some base design solutions and features. More precisely, we expect to see the same design approach as in the case of the original model, though everything will be adapted to the modern era of the automotive industry

2023 Ford Excursion

2023 Ford Excursion Design

The comeback of this large SUV has been rumored and if we can trust rumors, the all-new 2023 Ford Excursion could arrive already in the next year. At this point, we don’t know anything about design and features, but that doesn’t mean we can’t make some predictions, especially in terms of base design characteristics.

This particularly refers to the base design approach, which would be the same as in the case of the original model. We would see a design that’s based on Ford’s Super Duty pickup, the F-250. The two models would share most of the parts, though we presume that the new SUV would come with slight revisions regarding suspension setup and similar things.

Of course, the first thing that comes to mind about the exterior is its gigantic size. If you remember the original model, you know it was the biggest SUV on the market, with more than 137 inches in wheelbase. Meanwhile, the competition got bigger as well, so models like GMC Yukon XL now feature 134 inches in wheelbase. Therefore, we may expect the 2023 Ford Excursion to be even bigger. Some sources suggest that the new model could feature more than 140 inches between the axles.

In terms of styling, we don’t expect bigger surprises. The 2023 Ford Excursion would come with a familiar design approach, especially in terms of the front end. Of course, we are talking about the same front face as on the F-250, with the same grille, headlights etc. The rest of the body would come in a typical wagon manner, long and extremely spacious.

Without any doubt, the first thing that comes to mind about interior design is the amount of space. With the expected dimensions, there is no doubt that the 2023 Ford Excursion would feature tremendous amounts of space. We would see three extremely spacious rows of seats, where even the third row would feature more than 40 inches in legroom. As result, the new model would be able to accommodate eight adult passengers with ease. The cargo area would also bring tons of space, as the overall volume would probably go way over 150 cubic feet.

2023 Ford Excursion Interior

On the other hand, the dashboard design would feature the same shape as the one found in the F-250. Still, we might see minor upgrades for this occasion, in the form of nicer materials and new tech features. Speaking of the tech features, we presume that the new SUV would come standard with the company’s new, vertically-oriented screen.

2023 Ford Excursion Engines

It’s relatively easy to predict what would happen under the hood of the 2023 Ford Excursion. We presume that the engine lineup would be the same as in the pickup sibling, which indicates three powertrain options on the offer. Base models would come with a 6.2-liter V8, which puts out around 385 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. The upgrade would come in the form of a 7.3-liter Godzilla V8 engine, which comes with a max output of 430 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque.

Finally, we also expect to see a diesel version of the SUV. That model would come with the monstrous 6.7-liter turbodiesel, which puts out around 475 horsepower and 1.050 pound-feet of torque.

All three engines would come coupled with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Early fleet production data for the 2023 Expedition points to an estimated production start date of November 2022. That may change, so stay tuned for possible updates.

I Own a 2008 F350 and I love it. The wife and I both our looking to purchase a new family vehicle in 2023. We would love to see the new excursion that will be our first choice.

With the changing market toward the woke EV market, please don’t ignore the Thousands of normal American truck customers that would line up to buy an excursion. I sold my 2003 7.3L Excursion when it didn’t fit in the garage in my new house. I have had 17 years of sale remorse and while I owned one of the 6 L disaster engines, I would buy a 2023 Excursion without hesitation. 113K miles on my RAM 3500 and this one would just take the place of the worthless diesel grand Cherokee I am stuck with.

When’s the last time you saw one of these three row SUVs hauling eight passengers? Total waste of money and gas, for size queens only

FORD, it’s about time…Thank you…

I had a 2000 Excursion with the V10 and it was the best vehicle I’ve ever owned. It was great in the snow, rain or just about anything I put it through. I kept it up to par. I just lost it on New Year’s morning to a drunk driver. She totalled the whole rear end. When the New Excursion comes out I plan on buying one and hopefully it upholds to the older models. They are beautiful and very dependable and stout. Love them

Hell No! I’ll take my 2000 v10 over that any day! This new version is bound to be more plastic and have more emissions crap on it! Not to mention the price tag! If the new Expeditions are $60k+ then how much is this thing going to cost?

2023 Ford Excursion Could Make a Comeback Next Year

2023 Ford Excursion

Rumor is that Ford is planning on bringing back another long-forgotten name. This time around we are poised to see the newly refreshed 2023 Ford Excursion. The Excursion has been forgotten and discontinued for over a decade. It was last produced in 2005 and now Ford is trying to give it new life. It was mainly based on the F-250 and its body design but reimagined as an SUV. Since it has been 17 years since the last sight of this vehicle, we don’t expect small changes to it.

This probably means that Ford will build the project from scratch. In translation, this should give us new architecture, new design, new look, new technology, and definitely an all-new powertrain lineup. Some even speculate that the 2023 Ford Excursion could be all-electric or at least hybrid as standard. Similar to what Ford has done with their Maverick truck. This is a full-size SUV which means it will directly compete with Wagoneer and Tahoe RST . It might even be longer than it previously was.

Whichever is the case, let us jump into the review and see what kind of design we can expect with the new Excursion.

2023 Ford Excursion side

Huge and Modern Interior

We already mentioned that the 2023 Ford Excursion is one of the largest SUVs in the category. This means a huge cabin and a ridiculous amount of cargo space. But let us not forget that it has three rows of seats. This means that they should be detachable and foldable to allow for said cargo space. Some manufacturers forget about legroom and headspace for the back rows. Hopefully, Ford takes notes and pays attention by making enough legroom so it isn’t too cramped in the back. Seats are another point of interest for us. Ford should make them padded and cushioned, this will ensure comfort even on the longest rides.

There are fans of racing car seats, but we don’t believe something like that would do the trick in an SUV. There is usually leather, suede, and fabric to choose from as far as materials are concerned. Contrast stitching could be added to increase the overall style of the interior. We all know how Ford likes to copy designs from already existing vehicles under their flag.

So it wouldn’t come as a surprise if the 2023 Ford Excursion’s interior resembled that of the F-250. It was previously based on it so why not once again. Expect to see dual-zone air conditioning. Vinyl flooring and even a remote start. The infotainment system could be 14 inches in size. This is due to the fact that it has three rows of seats and we want everyone to be able to join in on the fun. Some chrome accents wouldn’t hurt in the cabin

Lining the instrument panel and some other details in chrome or some other metal increases luxury greatly. Wagoneer has wooden details so there is one more idea for Ford to give some thought to. In a fierce competition like that, Ford has to make the interior functional, practical, and luxurious.

With three rows you can easily seat up to eight people.  Of course, you can pull out a row or two, or fold them to get extra cargo space in order to haul furniture or something of similar size. Adding a panoramic roof would add to some breathtaking moments while driving along on a starry night. Ambient light should also be included, this feature is quite popular nowadays and is not going to cost too much.

Digital dashboards are becoming standard nowadays so expect to see one. It just remains to be seen whether Ford puts in a driver safety system. Artificial intelligence software like these can save the lives of people inside and outside the vehicle. Collision alert, pedestrian detection, and lane change alert are just some of the features that can make your life much easier.

2023 Ford Excursion Design

We expect the overall dimensions of the Excursion to remain pretty much the same. Previously it was measured at 137 inches long, while currently, the Chevy Suburban is the longest at 134 inches long. The 2023 Ford Excursion will have a wheelbase of 140 inches and expect it to borrow some stuff from the already mentioned F-250. SUV style changed over the years so expect it to be sleeker, with a less blocky design, and more angles and curves. This way it has a more aerodynamic and ergonomic look which in return improves fuel economy.

Wheels are probably going to be between 20 and 22 inches. Lightweight alloys to save some weight on a huge SUV. Excursions probably feature a huge front grille with mesh to let air under the hood in order to keep things cool. Ford lettering is a must at this point on the front. Huge sideway mirrors are probably due to the extreme length of the SUV.  Adjustable air suspension is a must on a vehicle this size, also improved chassis and base to hold the extra weight.

Engine Options

The previous version was available with a diesel engine exclusively. Since they might base the 2023 Ford Excursion on an F-250 there should be a diesel option once again. Using the same engine makes sense, it is a 7.3 liter V8 gasoline engine that produces 430 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque.

There is also a possibility of a 6.7 liter V8 turbo diesel but specs are still not official. Obviously, there is the possibility of an all-electric variant or at least a hybrid, which would be great. Ford has experience with all-electric vehicles and with great success.

Is Ford Coming Back with the Excursion?

We could see it on the road in late 2022 perhaps early 2023. Pandemic is known to change due dates and push them further away from the planned release.

The 6 best Alaska cruise shore excursions — from heli-hiking to whale watching

Gene Sloan

There are some cruise destinations — Barcelona, for instance, or Venice — where you really don't need to sign up for shore excursions . You can just walk off the ship and head to the major attractions on your own.

For the most part, the ports of Alaska aren't like that.

To get the most out of an Alaska cruise , you'll want to sign up for a tour in most if not all of the ports you visit. And not just any old tour. You'll be looking for the best Alaska shore excursions that get you out into the Alaska backcountry.

For more cruise news, reviews and tips, sign up for TPG's cruise newsletter.

In Alaska, many of the biggest "attractions" — breathtaking mountain landscapes, glaciers, fjords, breaching whales and feeding bears, for instance — are related to the Great Outdoors. As a result, many of the best Alaska shore excursions for cruisers are found outside of the towns where ships stop. If you just stay in the towns and explore on your own, you'll miss a big part of what Alaska is all about.

Picking the best Alaska shore excursions

People who know me know that I love talking about Alaska port towns. This isn't just because I spent more than two decades writing about Alaska and other cruise destinations for major newspapers. For many years, I was the co-author of Frommer's "Alaska Cruises & Ports of Call" guide. In researching nearly half a dozen editions of that book, I spent many days exploring each of the major cruise ports in the state. I've tried a large number of the shore excursions in places such as Juneau, Skagway and Ketchikan. I've also poked around these towns a lot on my own.

As noted above, my biggest message to anyone planning an Alaska cruise is to get out of the towns . Sign up for something — a hike, a rafting trip, a train ride, a fishing outing — that gets you out into Alaska's spectacular outdoor settings.

But I also have a few specific, top-line pro tips when you're thinking about the best Alaska shore excursions:

  • Get up in the air . It'll be expensive. We're talking $250 or more per person. But there's nothing like seeing the grandeur of Alaska from a helicopter or floatplane. The Juneau Icefield, in particular, is a sight to behold. It covers around 1,500 square miles. You can see it on a flightseeing tour from Juneau, with some tours including landings on the ice.
  • Don't miss the whales. Even if you're not a big wildlife person, you'll be mesmerized by the humpback whales of Alaska. They are huge (at up to 52 feet, longer than a Greyhound bus), and there are boat tours that will get you up close to them. The best places to do this are out of Juneau and also Icy Strait Point if your ship stops there.
  • Splurge for a trip to Misty Fjords National Monument . This glacier-carved wilderness area, not far from Ketchikan, is another don't-miss sight. It's everything you think of when you think of Alaska: icy blue lakes, waterfalls, snow-capped peaks and glacial valleys. The only way to get there is on a boat or floatplane tour, and they typically start at over $200 a person.

Unfortunately, as you can see from the above, many of the most spectacular excursions in Alaskan ports are expensive. But Alaska is not a place to skimp. Alaska is a place where you may want to budget almost as much per person for your shore excursions as you do for your cabin.

That said, you don't have to splurge for a big outing at every call. In Juneau, for instance, you can get an outdoor experience with a relatively inexpensive trip to the nearby Mendenhall Glacier. It's just 12 miles from the cruise ship docks and reachable by bus or taxi. The bus will set you back an astounding $45 per person, round-trip, which I find an intolerable gouge (but … it is what it is). If you have a few people, you're probably better off with a taxi, which runs around $35 each way. For two or three people traveling together, it's not all that pricey a trip.

Either way you do it, you'll find some nice hiking trails around Mendenhall Glacier and a visitor center. There's a creek there, too, where I've sometimes seen salmon running. One time, I even saw a bear. Speaking of which: A bear is something you think you want to see in Alaska until you actually see one. Then you're just hoping you don't get eaten.

Related: The best Alaska cruises for couples

excursion 2023

I should also be clear that the towns themselves aren't devoid of attractions. While I highly encourage Alaska-bound cruisers to get out into the wilderness, there are plenty of worthwhile things to do in each of the main port towns.

In Juneau, food tours have become popular; think King crab bisque and Alaska salmon. The Alaska State Museum is beautiful and worth a visit. Skagway is like a Gold Rush-themed movie set. You should at least walk its main street (Broadway), with its wooden-board sidewalks. If you're a craft beer fan, like me , you also might want to sample a Spruce Tip Blonde Ale at the Skagway Brewing Company. It's made with Sitka spruce tips picked locally in the spring.

In Ketchikan, you should save a few minutes to stroll up Creek Street, along Ketchikan Creek, where you might spot salmon running. It's the ultimate Alaska selfie spot.

How to book the best Alaska shore excursions

The simplest way to book an Alaska shore excursion is through your cruise line. You check a box on an online form before sailing or while on board, and — poof! — it's all arranged. They send a ticket to your room, and when you walk off the ship, a tour guide will be waiting for you.

Another way to go is to book directly with a tour operator in one of the ports. Many of the tour operators you'll find in Alaskan ports are the same tour operators that operate the ship-sponsored excursions. Often, the tours that the local tour operators will sell you are the same tours that the cruise lines are selling you, at the same price . Shopping around isn't necessarily going to get you anywhere.

Indeed, in some cases, the cruise lines own the tour operators in Alaska ports, or at least a piece of them. For instance, the parent company of Princess Cruises and Holland America is a part-owner of Skagway's big attraction, the White Pass & Yukon Route Railway.

That said, you can sometimes get discounts by calling a tour operator directly. I've had some luck with that over the years. It's hit or miss.

The 6 best Alaska shore excursions

Below, I've listed six of my all-time favorite Alaska shore excursions. These all are tours that you'll find in the tour lineups at every major cruise line that operates in Alaska. That said, different lines sometimes have different names for these tours — and sometimes different pricing.

For the listings below, I've used the tour names and pricing listed in the current tour sheets at Princess, which along with sister line Holland America, is the biggest cruise operator in Alaska.

Dog-sledding and glacier adventure by helicopter

Cost: $669.95 per person

Port where available: Juneau

excursion 2023

For those with a hefty bankroll, this might be the ultimate Alaska shore excursion. Combining helicopter flightseeing over the seemingly endless Juneau Icefield with a landing on a glacier for dog sledding, it hits two of Alaska's most iconic experiences.

It's also insanely expensive, as I know from firsthand experience. I once took my entire family of five on this excursion, dropping more than $2,000 in the process. That's a huge chunk of change for an outing that lasts three hours.

But I'll tell you this: I don't regret doing it. Not one bit. For starters, the views of the Juneau Icefield as you fly to and from the dog-sledding camp are incredible (assuming the weather cooperates). But the real joy was seeing my three young girls interacting with the teams of Alaskan huskies that live at the camp.

Once you arrive at the camp, you'll meet the dogs and their mushers, see where they live, get a quick tutorial in mushing, and then head out for a spin around the camp on a dog-pulled sled.

Whale watching and wildlife quest

Cost: $189.95

excursion 2023

If it's Alaska's famous humpback whales that you want to see, you'll want to book a whale-watching tour. The waters around Juneau are particularly known for humpback whales — so much so that the operator of this excursion offers a whale-sighting guarantee.

Setting off from the Juneau harbor in a whale-watching boat, you'll cruise to nearby areas to see not just humpback whales but harbor seals and sea lions, too. You might even spot a killer whale or porpoise.

The boat used for this excursion has both inside and outdoor viewing areas. The trips last about four hours, including transfer time from your cruise ship to the whale-watching boat.

Related: The ultimate list of Alaska cruise tips

Note that if you have a big enough group, it sometimes pays to arrange a private boat out of Juneau to take you to see humpback whales. Many lines offer a private boat charter for whale watching as a tour option, or you can arrange one through a local company.

Klondike rock climbing and rappelling

Cost: $119.95

Port where available: Skagway

excursion 2023

If you're like me, you may be a little terrified at the idea of climbing the sheer face of a rock cliff. But don't let that scare you away from this 3 1/4-hour tour. It's a hoot.

Experienced climbing guides will meet you at your ship and drive you up the Klondike Highway to an area of granite cliffs that's the perfect playground for beginner and more seasoned climbers alike. Upon arrival, the guides provide you with all the gear you need — climbing shoes, helmets and harnesses — for a safe scramble up a 70-foot-high wall. They'll also offer plenty of instruction (and encouragement) plus a snack of trail mix and hot chocolate.

If it all sounds a bit daunting, know that you don't need any experience at climbing to do it; I sure didn't have any when I tried it, nor did my young daughters, who absolutely loved it. There are multiple routes up the cliffs, some perfect for beginners. After making it to the top, you'll rappel back down — an entirely different kind of thrill.

White Pass & Yukon Route Railway ride

Cost: $149.95

excursion 2023

Call it the iconic attraction of Skagway, Alaska. A ride into the mountains on this narrow-gauge railroad is the tour everybody takes when visiting the Gold Rush town-turned-tourist hub. And for good reason. It offers an easy way to get deep into the Great Alaskan Outdoors.

Truth be told, I'm a fan of more active excursions. But for someone who isn't going to hike, bike, horseback ride or raft their way through the wilderness around Skagway (there are tours for all of those things, too), a ride on the White Pass & Yukon Railway is one of the best ways to get a glimpse of the area's classic Alaskan scenery.

Related: 13 things you should do before every cruise

From the comfort of a vintage rail car, you'll get stunning views of mountains, gorges, glacial rivers and waterfalls as you climb nearly 3,000 feet to the summit of White Pass — the headwaters to the mighty Yukon River. Designated an International Historic Civil Engineering Landmark, the 20-mile route is a marvel in its own right, with improbably steep grades at times and segments that pass over soaring wooden trestles and around tight, cliff-hanging curves.

Heli-hike and rail adventure

Cost: $399.95

excursion 2023

This is another tour with a sky-high cost. But, in my opinion, it's well worth the money. Indeed, it's one of my all-time favorite Alaska shore excursions.

The five-hour, Skagway-based outing begins with a transfer from your ship to a nearby helicopter pad, where you'll find a helicopter waiting to whisk you high into the surrounding Sawtooth Mountain Range.

On a quick flight to your destination — a mountain trail in the Tongass National Forest — you'll get spectacular views of the mountains and Goat Lake. You'll land at Glacier Station, a remote mountain helicopter pad alongside the White Pass & Yukon Railway tracks. From there, you'll set off on a two- to six-mile guided wilderness hike on a trail along the Skagway River. The highlight of the hike: a magnificent view of Laughton Glacier.

Returning to Glacier Station, you'll end the day with a ride back to Skagway on the White Pass & Yukon Railway, which makes a special stop to pick you up.

Misty Fjords National Monument by seaplane

Cost: $299.95

Port where available: Ketchikan

excursion 2023

There's nothing that says Alaska quite like a trip in a floatplane. And, if you're going to do a floatplane ride, there's nowhere better than in Ketchikan. You'll find a small armada of floatplanes waiting to take you to nearby Misty Fjords National Monument.

Misty Fjords is one of those quintessential Alaska destinations that's so beautiful you just want to cry. That is, if it's not too "misty" to see it. It got its name for a reason. The area is often shrouded in clouds and drizzly rain. Ketchikan is known as one of the rainiest places in North America, with over 13 feet of rain each year. So, yeah, bring a rain jacket.

But, also get ready for lovely views of glacier-carved fjords, cliffs and rock walls jutting thousands of feet out of the ocean. The whole thing is covered with temperate rainforests and features huge waterfalls (thanks to all that rain). It's definitely a sight to see.

Note that there often are two versions of this tour available: One that is about two hours in length and only includes flightseeing and a slightly longer version that includes a water landing within Misty Fjord National Monument.

The UK's longest running group travel show

Welcome back to Wembley!

In 2025, the Excursions™ Show, the original and longest-running domestic group travel show, is returning to Wembley Stadium, the home of English Football. Taking place on Saturday 1 February 2025, the Show will, once again, be situated in the Great Hall.

Following a hugely successful 50th anniversary show in 2024, we look forward to welcoming back group travel organisers and travel trade operators in 2025. Excursions™ is firmly established as a must-attend event in the group travel calendar. Our esteemed travel trade partners will be presenting innovative tours and products, providing valuable inspiration for your next travel endeavours. Whether it’s a day out, an overnight or longer trip, in the UK or overseas, there’s always plenty of ideas.

Excursions™ 50th anniversary saw Eurovision Winner, pop star, TV presenter, and charitable fundraiser Cheryl Baker open the show, chat with visitors and meet with many of our exhibitors on the day. Plus, guests enjoyed a medley from Brent Youth Pop Orchestra, an exceptional themed exhibit based on Mamma Mia the smash hit musical, and a behind-the-scenes tour of Wembley Stadium, including views of the pitch.

Over the decades Excursions™ has continually evolved to include fam trips, theatrical show openers, special feature areas, exhibitor presentations, VIP coach arrivals, food & drink tastings, and much more, whilst still maintaining its hugely popular and unique destination-based layout.

This long-standing exhibition is an unrivalled opportunity for exhibitors to showcase their group travel product's to qualified group travel organizers, coaches and tour operators and with a higher level of tailoring in the group travel market than any other sector.

Excursions™ 2025 will continue to offer a unique VIP private coach arrivals area, and an extended pre-and post-show fam trip program to enhance your experience.

We look forward to extending a warm welcome to you all in 2025, for a day of discovery and inspiration. An opportunity to connect with old friends and make new contacts.

Located in the center of downtown Scranton, in northeastern Pennsylvania, Steamtown National Historic Site (NHS) is an industrial heritage site dedicated to interpreting the history of steam railroading in America. The park is located within the center of the once bustling Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad Yard. The Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad was a major player in the transportation of the Anthracite coal that once fueled America’s Industrial Revolution. The Steamtown museum complex incorporates the remaining segments of the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western roundhouse and locomotive repair shops.

Steamtown's train rides are offered seasonally in the form of short train rides within the railroad yard (Scranton Limited and Caboose Experience) or longer excursion rides to historic stations along both the Pocono and Carbondale lines. Sturdy walking shoes are recommended for touring the grounds and taking guided tours outside the museum area.

There are no food concessions or indoor eating facilities located on site. There is a picnic area within the park and restaurants located nearby.

Spate of winter runway excursions continues despite Russian regulator's cautions

By David Kaminski-Morrow 2024-01-22T09:11:00+00:00

Russian authorities have alerted carriers again to the risks of runway excursion during winter, after three incidents in the first half of January alone brought to six the number of occurrences in the space of three months.

Investigators have disclosed that a NordStar Boeing 737-800 crew activated maximum reverse thrust upon touchdown on runway 19 at Norilsk on 9 January.

As the aircraft, arriving from Krasnoyarsk, slowed to 80kt the crew disengaged the thrust-reversers and then applied pedal braking at 54kt.

“The aircraft crew determined that pedal braking was insufficiently effective and re-engaged reverse [thrust],” says federal air transport regulator Rosaviatsia.

But the jet entered an “uncontrolled” turn, it adds, spinning 180° and skidding off the runway before coming to a half 29m from the exit.

Weather conditions included a 19kt crosswind from the left. None of the 169 passengers and eight crew members was injured.

Pilots of this NordStar 737-800 re-applied reverse thrust after braking failed to slow the jet

Three days later, on 12 January, a chartered Arktika Yakovlev Yak-42D trijet – with 54 passengers and five crew – conducted a low-visibility approach to Arkhangelsk.

According to its captain, visual contact with the runway lights was lost just before landing as a result of ground fog, but the crew proceeded with the touchdown, after which the aircraft rolled off the left side of the runway.

This was followed, another three days later, by an incident at Mirny when an Aviastar-Tu Tupolev Tu-204 freighter, operating from Moscow Vnukovo for the Russian postal service with five crew, landed on runway 25 and rolled off the end, onto a safety strip. Weather conditions indicate a 5kt tailwind and snow, with a runway friction coefficient of 0.3.

Rosaviatsia states that, since mid-October, three other aircraft have experienced similar excursions – an Antonov An-24 at Utrenny, a 737-800 at Perm, and a Yak-40 at Ossora.

It points out that, last year, it issued two flight-safety bulletins regarding aircraft suffering runway excursions while operating transport services.

Rosaviatsia has reiterated the typical circumstances in which such incidents occur – including runway contamination, unstable approaches, unfavourable winds, poor visibility and improper use of braking and reverse thrust – and urged stricter compliance from crews, including the execution of go-arounds if necessary.

On a visit to his Belarusian ally, Putin questions Zelenskyy's legitimacy as Ukraine's leader

Russian President Vladimir Putin has visited his Belarusian counterpart and close ally for talks in Minsk

TALLINN, Estonia — Russian President Vladimir Putin visited his Belarusian counterpart and close ally for talks Friday in Minsk, after which he questioned whether Volodymyr Zelenskyy has the legitimacy to negotiate on Ukraine’s behalf.

Russia is willing to hold talks about the war in Ukraine , Putin said, but Zelenskyy’s five-year term in office was supposed to end May 20.

However, Zelenskyy has ruled out holding new presidential elections while his country is at war — something Putin apparently ignored in remarks to reporters.

Ukrainian legislation bans elections during martial law that has been in place since Russia launched its invasion in February 2022. The country would have to amend the law to elections during a state of war.

Russian officials have repeatedly called attention to the question of Zelenskyy’s term in office during the past week.

“Of course, we are aware that the legitimacy of the current head of state has ended,” Putin said at a news conference in Minsk after talks with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.

“We must be completely sure that we are dealing with legitimate authorities,” said Putin, who has repeatedly stated that Russia is ready for talks with Ukraine.

However, Zelenskyy has rejected the preconditions that Russia has put forth for talks, including allowing Russia to retain the territory Kremlin’s forces have taken since the February 2022 invasion.

An international peace conference on Ukraine is to be held in Switzerland in June, but Russia has not been not invited and Putin has dismissed the conference’s importance.

The two-day visit to Belarus was one of several foreign tours Putin used to kick off his fifth term in office. Since his May 7 inauguration, he also has gone to China and is expected in Uzbekistan on Sunday.

Russia and Belarus have increasingly close relations and foresee eventually forming a so-called “union state.”

Lukashenko has given Moscow permission to deploy Russian tactical nuclear weapons and troops to in Belarus, which shares a 1,084-kilometer (673-mile) border with Ukraine. In 2023, Russia moved some of its tactical nuclear weapons to Belarus.

Unlike nuclear-tipped intercontinental ballistic missiles that can destroy entire cities, tactical nuclear weapons intended for use against troops on the battlefield are less powerful. Such weapons include aerial bombs, warheads for short-range missiles and artillery munitions.

Deploying tactical nuclear weapons to Belarus would allow Russian aircraft and missiles to reach potential targets in Ukraine more easily and quickly if Moscow decides to use them. It also extends Russia’s capability to target several NATO allies in Eastern and Central Europe.

Russia has also used Belarus, which depends on Russian loans and cheap energy, as a staging ground in the war in Ukraine, deploying some of its troops there.

The two countries kicked off military drills involving tactical nuclear weapons earlier this month.

Moscow said its drills, announced publicly for the first time on May 6, were a response to statements by Western officials signaling possibly deeper involvement in the war in Ukraine. The drills began this week.

Belarus launched its maneuvers involving missiles and warplanes capable of carrying tactical nuclear weapons on May 7.

Putin questions whether Zelensky is 'legitimate' Ukraine leader for peace talks

R ussian President Vladimir Putin visited his Belarusian counterpart and close ally for talks on Friday in Minsk – and questioned whether Volodymyr Zelensky has the legitimacy to negotiate on Ukraine ’s behalf.

Russia is willing to hold talks about the war in Ukraine, Mr Putin said, but Mr Zelensky’s five-year term in office was supposed to end on May 20.

However, Mr Zelensky has ruled out holding new presidential elections while his country is at war – something Mr Putin apparently ignored in remarks to reporters.

Ukrainian legislation bans elections during martial law that has been in place since Russia launched its invasion in February 2022, meaning the country would have to amend the law to elections during a state of war.

Russian officials have repeatedly called attention to the question of Mr Zelensky’s term in office during the past week.

“Of course, we are aware that the legitimacy of the current head of state has ended,” Mr Putin said at a news conference in Minsk after talks with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.

Mr Putin said: ‘We must be completely sure that we are dealing with legitimate authorities.’

However, Mr Zelensky has rejected the preconditions that Russia has put forth for talks, including allowing Russia to retain the territory Kremlin’s forces have taken since the February 2022 invasion.
