Even people booking airfare thru the expensive Cruise Lines have been angry at inconvenient cheap multiple flights on different airlines cobbled together and no direct flights , impossible connections, etc, they provide the cheapest for you, and they do not have the full airline / cruise lines/ hotels inventory to work with, just a few odd bits to sell you.

Dreamlines, the online travel agency for cruise holidays, scores €45M Series E

Dreamlines , which claims to be Europe’s largest online travel agency specialising in cruise-related travel, is disclosing that it has raised €45 million in Series E funding. The round is led by Princeville Global, with participation from existing investors that include Holtzbrinck Ventures, Target Global, Dimaventures, Hasso Plattner Ventures, TruVenturo, and Rocket Internet’s Global Founders Capital.

Founded by Felix Schneider in 2012, Hamburg-based Dreamlines can be thought of as a Booking.com or Expedia but for cruise holidays and other cruise line type travel. The company connects customers to what it says is the largest portfolio of cruises around the world, including holiday packages exclusive to Dreamlines.

Meanwhile, unlike other forms of holiday and travel, the cruise industry is only more recently being digitised, a sentiment echoed by Emmanuel DeSousa, Managing Partner of Princeville Global, who joins the Dreamlines board.

“The cruise industry is the last sizable, global travel segment to be disrupted by a tech-focused online booking platform,” he says. “Under the leadership of its visionary founders, Dreamlines is uniquely positioned to continue transforming the cruise industry to an online model, leading in Europe and expanding around the world”.

To that end, Dreamlines says the investment will support its continued growth and international expansion. The company currently operates in 10 countries, partnering with over 100 cruise operators, and has raised around €110 million to date.

Adds Christian Saller, General Partner at HV Holtzbrinck Ventures and the Dreamlines chairman: “As an early investor, HV Holtzbrinck Ventures has seen Dreamlines grow by a factor ten since its initial investment into the European market leader. The new investment will allow Dreamlines to continue this success story”.

Dreamlines Acquires Cruise 1st and Enters UK market

HAMBURG, Germany & MANCHESTER, England–(BUSINESS WIRE)–May 17, 2018–

Dreamlines, the German-headquartered OTA and tour operator, confirmed today the acquisition of 100 per cent of the share capital of Cruise 1 st , the UK headquartered cruise specialist. The value of the transaction is not disclosed.

Dreamlines is the fastest growing online cruise portal worldwide with operations in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Australia, the Netherlands, France, Italy, Russia, Brazil and the USA. Cruise 1 st is one of the UK’s leading cruise specialists with operations in the Australia and Singapore markets also. Cruise 1 st brings 180 employees to more than 400 global team members of the Dreamlines group.

The acquisition signals Dreamlines’ entry into the UK cruise market. The acquisition also sees Dreamlines, the market leader in Germany, become market leader in Australia and Singapore. In the Australian market Dreamlines will operate two leading brands CruiseAway and Cruise 1 st .

The combined GMV of all brands including Cruise 1 st in 2017 was over than 320 million Euros. In 2018 the Dreamlines group expects a global GMV of more than 400 million Euros and will be the largest cruise OTA outside the US market.

Dreamlines and Cruise 1st will pool their expertise and capabilities to create unique cruise products and experiences for their customers. Additionally, the companies will streamline their distribution channels, enabling suppliers to target customers more efficiently and with even greater effectiveness.

Dreamlines becomes one of the most important OTAs in the cruise sector.

The tour operator and OTA Dreamlines, based in Germany, has just acquired Cruise1st, a cruise specialist. This marks Dreamlines' entry into the British cruise market. However, the value of the transaction was not disclosed.

AN ABSOLUTE SHAME !!

Insanely filthy boat. Cabin worse than everything else. Mold everywhere in the bathroom, bare electric cable near the central bedside table. Bed base completely in metal and mattress 5cm thick, pierced, moldy and without the slightest hold, dirt and dust absolutely everywhere. Sheets full of stains. Air conditioning hardly ever works or emits dust. Bedspreads smelling of pee and vomit. This is the dirtiest place I have ever seen !! The restaurant bags, an absolute horror !! I mentioned my disability when booking in order to have a cabin in the center of the boat to save me a lot of travel, we ended up at the back of the boat, engine noise day and night as a bonus. Stopover canceled without any information or compensation despite my numerous calls and an email with more than 70 photos. Again, broken promises. To conclude, a haughty and incompetent crew and a hotel manager who left the ship 3 days before the end of the cruise, so no one left to make decisions on this plan. The worst of all my travel experiences in 50 years !! AN ABSOLUTE SHAME !! Go on Google to watch the pictures I posted.
