Walt Disney World vacation package discounts are slightly less common than discounts on individual components (room, tickets, food), but there are good vacation package discounts to be had , and this page covers them all.

A “vacation package” for Disney World includes a room at an official Disney resort, plus either tickets or a dining plan or both. Disney World packages are popular because they offer convenience and simplicity, but sometimes you can save more creating your own “package” by buying tickets, hotel and food separately. Disney Vacation Package discounts are not always available for all future dates, and are released just 3-5 months in advance, so it’s a good idea to start your search early and keep checking back to see if package discounts have been released for the time frame you want.

A Disney vacation package has traditionally included two key things: a hotel room and park tickets . (A hotel room by itself is not a package – it’s called a “room-only” reservation.) The park tickets must be multi-day tickets (2+ days), but can be any of the various park ticket types: Base (one park per day), Park Hopper, Water Park & Sports or Park Hopper Plus. You can also add a pre-paid dining plan to any package. There is also a “ticketless” package that includes a dining plan but no tickets. The “ticketless” package is not available online; you need to book it with a travel agent or over the phone with Disney.

A lot of people like Disney’s vacation packages because they are convenient and worry-free. You get everything you need (except airfare) with one purchase. However, it is important to note that the standard full-price Disney vacation packages are designed for convenience rather than savings. In most cases you will not automatically get a discount by purchasing a package! It can be cheaper to book a “ room only ” reservation (ideally with a discount) and then buy the package components ( tickets , meals , etc.) separately.

When Disney offers package discounts, usually they are calculated as a discount on the hotel portion of the package and are identical to a room-only discount offered at the same time; the tickets and dining plan are charged at full price. However, Disney sometimes offers exclusive promotional package discounts , particularly in the off-season, that do not have any room-only equivalent, where you get a discount on dining instead of (or in addition to) a hotel discount. Disney World packages have rules about advance payment, cancellations and changes that are usually much more restrictive than those associated with “room only” reservations. If you’re not sure about whether to buy a package vs. just booking your room and tickets separately, read our information on the pros and cons of vacation packages vs. room-only reservations  to help you decide.

It can be difficult to sort out what is best for your particular situation. That’s why we think it’s a good idea to have someone knowledgeable on your side, making sure all the details are covered. Our advice is this: if you want to book a Walt Disney World vacation package, we strongly recommend using a travel agent who specializes in Disney travel. It costs you nothing, and you can sit back, relax, and have all the vacation planning and hassle taken care of by someone else.

Disney World vacation package options, prices and benefits change every calendar year. In most years, only a few minor things change, such as the list of shops and restaurants that provide coupons and discounts to package buyers. Occasionally there will be more extensive changes; when there are, we list them below.

The specific package you get is based on your check in date. So if you check in any time between January 1 and December 31, 2024, you will get the 2024 package benefits and pricing for your whole stay, even if the stay extends into 2025.

2025 Package Changes

For 2025, there were minor changes to the official Disney packages. The two core dining plans have returned: the standard Disney Dining Plan or the Disney Quick Service Dining Plan . The rates for most Disney hotel rooms have gone up by 3-6%, which is fairly moderate, historically. The “Magical Extras” discounts have changed slightly, with 10% discounts added for several Disney Springs restaurants, including Cookes of Dublin, Eet, Frontera Cocina, and Raglan Road.

2024 Package Changes

For 2024, the two most popular dining plans have returned; you can add either the standard Disney Dining Plan or the Disney Quick Service Dining Plan to any Disney Resort Hotel Package. Pricing for hotels has gone up again; we’re seeing increases of 4-7% for Value and Moderate resorts, and 7-10% increases for Deluxe and Deluxe Villa resorts. The “Magical Extras” discounts are largely the same as 2023, with a new discount of 10% off Surrey Bike rentals at multiple resorts.

Current Package Options

• Disney Resort Hotel Package – This is the basic Walt Disney World vacation package, which includes accommodations at a Disney-owned-and-operated resort hotel, and Walt Disney World tickets for everyone in the group. By default, it includes Base (1 Park Per Day) tickets, but you can add Water Park & Sports, Park Hopper or Park Hopper Plus options (for more money).
• Disney Resort Hotel Package Including Disney Quick Service Dining Plan – This package includes everything from the Disney Resort Hotel Package, and adds a dining plan that includes two quick service meals and one snack per person, per package night, plus a resort refillable mug per person. You can choose from dozens of counter service restaurants across the Walt Disney World Resort.
• Disney Resort Hotel Package Including Disney Dining Plan  – This package includes everything from the Disney Resort Hotel Package, and adds a dining plan that includes two meals (one table service, one quick service) and one snack per person, per package night at more than 100 restaurants across the Walt Disney World Resort. This plan also includes a resort refillable mug per person.
• Walt Disney World Annual Passholder Package with Dining  – Walt Disney World Annual Passholders can purchase a special vacation package with either the Quick Service Dining Plan or the standard Dining Plan . It is not available online; you must book it with a travel agent or over the phone. The room rate on an Annual Passholder Package will include whatever current Annual Passholder hotel discounts are available, but the dining plan will always be charged at full price. This package does not include admission tickets, since obviously Annual Passholders don’t need that component of a vacation package.
• Ticketless Package with Dining – This is essentially equivalent to the Annual Passholder Package: it combines a hotel room and either the Quick Service Dining Plan or the standard Dining Plan . You do not need to have an Annual Pass to book this package. It is not available online; you must book it with a travel agent or over the phone. Usually you can combine a hotel discount with this package (assuming your dates and resort qualify), but you can’t get exclusive package discounts like Free Dining. This is an option to consider if you really like the dining plan, but prefer to get your tickets from a discount source or have leftover tickets from a previous trip.
• Disney Springs Resort Area Hotel Package – This is a simple combination of a stay at one of the Disney Springs Resort Area hotels plus 2-day or longer Walt Disney World tickets. A Disney Dining Plan cannot be added to this package.

• Why book with a travel agent? We find that the overall experience is better booking a package through a good full-service agency than direct with Disney, and the extra service costs you nothing ; their prices are identical to Disney’s, including all package discounts. Booking packages, especially discounted packages, often involves comparing many different booking options to see which gets you the best deal, and that’s one of the many things the best travel agents are great at doing.

The first thing you need to bear in mind is that Disney REALLY wants you to stay for at least 5 nights/6 days. For that reason, the tickets included in your package are heavily discounted on longer (5 to 10 day) stays . Remember that tickets are usually the biggest single expense in your package, and 7 day tickets cost only a little more than 4 day tickets. So live it up — price out the longer vacation and you’ll probably be surprised how little the extra cost will be.

For most people who buy a vacation package, the plain Resort Hotel Package (no dining) or the Resort Hotel Package Plus Disney Dining Plan will be the best value.

There is a daily, per-person cost to add the regular Disney Dining Plan to a basic package (current prices can be found on the dining plan page ). With the regular Dining Plan you’ll get a table service meal, a counter service meal and two snacks each day.

The Disney Dining Plan should be thought of primarily as a way of pre-paying your food expenses. It’s not really intended to be a discount plan. It’s possible to save a little vs. paying cash, and if you work every angle you can save more. Working every angle, though, means ordering only the most expensive items on the menu at every meal and eating at the highest-priced restaurants, which feels like a fairly significant constraint. One big exception: if you have children 9 or under and plan to visit a lot of buffets (half your table-service meals or more), you’ll probably save money without really having to work at it, as Disney’s child buffet prices are very high compared to other meals. Adding the Dining Plan to your package does allow you to prepay all or most of your food expenses (except for tips), and frees each person to order whatever they want without worrying about the price. If that sounds like an enhancement to your vacation, then a dining plan may be a good choice. Read our view on the pros and cons of the Dining Plan.

If your family isn’t into table-service dining, there is the Quick Service Dining Plan . The Quick Service Dining Plan is not a great way to save money, but might be attractive for other reasons. You will be lucky to break even vs. just paying cash for your meals and snacks. The Quick Service Dining Plan is not particularly flexible, since there’s no way to spend the meal credits on table service, buffets, or most smaller carts, food trucks or kiosks. For a light meal on the go, those kiosks and “snack” locations are often the best deals available. Bottom line: we don’t recommend the Quick Service plan as a money-saving strategy. It’s a good choice if you don’t like table-service restaurants and you want to pre-pay for your meals.

Disney usually has a selection of discounts available to anyone, including international guests. No special code or membership is required to use these, but there can be minimum stay lengths, blackout dates and other requirements. (We include Disney+ subscriber offers in this section, as the cost to subscribe to Disney+ is low enough to make them effectively available to anyone.)

Summer And Early Fall Package Offer

Get up to 30% off the room portion of a package at select official Disney World resorts for stays most nights from July 8 – October 3, 2024. There is no minimum stay length.

Discounts are higher for stays of 5 nights or longer at most resorts.

Booking must start on a covered date. Booking can extend into excluded dates, but no discount will apply to the excluded dates.

Disney Visa Cardholder Package Discounts

From time to time, Disney Visa cardholders will be offered a special discount that is either inherently a package or is a room-only discount that can be converted to a package by adding tickets and/or a dining plan. When there are package-specific discounts available, we list them here.

Also check the room-only Disney Visa discounts , as any Disney hotel booking can be booked as a package by adding tickets and/or a dining plan.

Disney Visa FREE Dining Package Offer

Disney Visa cardholders can book a FREE dining plan for all guests (age 3+) with purchase of a Walt Disney World vacation package that includes a full-priced room and Park Hopper tickets. Valid for most dates July 1 – 31, September 1 – 7 and December 9 – 21, 2024. You must book a minimum of 4 nights stay and a minimum 4-day Park Hopper or Park Hopper Plus for each guest. If you check in on one of the included dates, you get the dining plan for every date in your stay, even if the stay extends past the included date range!

If you book a Deluxe or Deluxe Villa resort, the Disney Dining Plan is included for each guest. If you book a Value or Moderate Resort, the Disney Quick Service Dining Plan is included for each guest, but you can upgrade to the regular Dining Plan by paying the difference in price between the two plans.

This offer is tremendously popular each year and can be very difficult to book for certain dates. We’ve created a guide to booking Free Dining that covers some strategies that can make it easier to get.

Offer excludes all 3-bedroom villas, campsites & cabins at Fort Wilderness, Treehouse Villas at Saratoga Springs, bungalows at Polynesian Villas, cabins at Copper Creek, and all club level rooms. As with all Disney promotional discounts, some resorts, room types and date combinations will not be available. It’s important to be flexible if you want to book a discounted room. You must use a Disney Visa card to pay the deposit. The Disney Visa cardmember must stay in the room.

The Dining Plans are always full price and these packages are never eligible for “Free” dining, or other packages that involve reduced-price Dining Plan like “Stay, Play & Dine.” These bookings are subject to regular Walt Disney Travel Company package rules . Annual passholder packages can only be booked through a travel agent or via calling the Disney Reservation Center; they are not available online.

Ticketless Packages with Dining  are vacation packages that include a room and dining plan but no tickets. They are just like the Annual Passholder Packages, above, except that they don’t include the Annual Passholder room discounts. They can be booked any time, and when “room only” discounts are available, those discounts apply to the room portion of these packages. The Dining Plans are always full price and these packages are never eligible for “Free” dining, or other packages that involve reduced-price Dining Plan like “Stay, Play & Dine.” These bookings are subject to regular Walt Disney Travel Company package rules . Ticketless packages can only be booked through a travel agent or via calling the Disney Reservation Center; they are not available online.

“Bounceback” vacation package offers are offers made by Disney ONLY to guests who are currently staying at one of the official Walt Disney World resorts. The idea is to encourage you to “bounce back” to Disney World by planning your next vacation right now. These offers are not always available and could end at any time.

When a bounceback vacation package offer is available, you may be able to book a discounted vacation package (accommodations plus at least a 1-day Base Ticket) for a stay on selected dates at a Walt Disney World resort. Not all dates are offered, and not all resorts and room types will be included.

To qualify, the reservation for your next vacation must be made after you check in or up to 7 days after you check out , and there are no exceptions made . You must call the number provided (usually on a flyer in your room) and pay a $200 deposit when booking.

If you don’t get a bounceback offer on a flyer in your room, the resort TV channel may be showing this offer, or you may receive an email from Disney during your stay. You can also try asking the front desk and/or Housekeeping for a flyer. Even if you can’t find a flyer, you can dial x8844 from your room phone and ask if there are any current offers. You can also call (407) 934-7639 from your mobile phone, but keep in mind you must actually have checked into a Disney-owned hotel to be eligible to book a bounceback offer.

• The current offer appears to be a room-only discount offer, which can be booked as a package if desired, by adding full-price tickets and/or dining plan. It comes and goes, and has varying discounts depending on resort and date.

In addition, you can visit Walt Disney World’s Canadian website  and select the Special Offers tab to see any current deals specific to Canadians, but most of the time the offers are the same as those distributed in the US. Sometimes the Canadian offer will have a different discount code, but otherwise it will be identical to the US offer. If we learn of any specials for Canadians only, they are listed below. Small World Vacations can book most Canadian packages as long as you are traveling at least 45 days from the date of booking.

Online Travel Agencies (OTAs) such as Expedia , Travelocity , Orbitz , etc. typically cannot book Disney Vacation Packages, which means they can’t book any of Disney’s special package discounts like Stay, Play, and Dine or Free Dining, and they can’t book packages with the Disney Dining Plans at all. They can be a good way to book a room-only discount , if they are offering some kind of discount code or coupon of their own that stacks on top of Disney’s own discounts. If not, they will typically have the same room rates as Disney.

All of the OTAs have what they call “packages,” but they’re just bundles they’ve put together of travel components they handle, like flights, hotels, rental car, tickets, etc. They generally are not discounted very much (or at all) over and above buying the individual components, and most often you’ll find better discounts on rental cars , airfare  and Disney World tickets through other sources.

Generally speaking if you want an official Disney vacation package, and especially if you want to book one of the Disney Dining Plans, you’re best off booking with a Disney specialist full-service travel agency . You’ll get better service and a personal agent, for the same price as Disney charges.

If you belong to a membership organization like USAA or AARP, it may be worthwhile to check if they offer Walt Disney World vacation packages, and if so, whether they offer any discounts. However, don’t expect much service, and be aware that you may not get the best price in the long run. In our experience, the big membership organizations mostly employ “generalist” travel agents who often know little or nothing about Disney vacations and are frequently clueless about promotional packages and discount codes. You will usually have to do your own monitoring to make sure any better package offers that come out are applied to your booking. They almost never do this for you, unlike a Disney specialist agency .

It is especially important to buy trip insurance for a vacation package , because you have to pay the entire cost in advance and you won’t get a refund if you have to cancel right before your scheduled departure. With hundreds or even thousands of dollars at stake, it’s worth it to protect the investment.

It’s super-important to buy insurance if you will be visiting Walt Disney World on a package vacation during hurricane season (roughly June-November, with the peak period in August and September). Don’t underestimate the potential of hurricanes and tropical storms to create major problems even in an inland location like Orlando. Walt Disney World was directly affected by two hurricanes in 2004 (Frances and Jeanne), one in 2005 (Wilma), and most recently by Irma in 2017. Two hotels located on Disney property (but not operated by Disney) were virtually destroyed by the 2004 storms; one didn’t reopen until 2010!

While Disney’s own resorts weathered the hurricanes very well, guests were stuck in their rooms for up to 72 hours and many had major travel problems because airports were closed. Disney did waive “no-show” fees for a few dates, but those whose trips began before the specified dates (but whose travel plans overlapped with the hurricane) or just afterward were out of luck. Many people had similar problems with their airfares. The airlines allowed highly restrictive changes for certain dates without extra fees, but many of those who had to reschedule could not work within the airlines’ narrow rules and just had to suck up the extra cost.

Perhaps the most important coverage included in a trip insurance policy is trip cancellation and interruption insurance , which can protect your investment if you have to cancel your vacation at the last minute (or come home early) due to illness or injury. Depending on the policy, you may be covered if you cancel for other reasons, such as jury duty, terrorism at your destination, or even unemployment.

Emergency medical coverage and medical evacuation insurance are very important if you become ill or injured during the trip. Otherwise you’re on your own as far as booking very expensive last-minute airfare to get home. And if you’re too ill to travel by commercial jet, you may have to pay for treatment in Florida (which your personal insurance may or may not cover) or for evacuation on a medically-equipped jet, which is incredibly expensive. Check your existing medical insurance to see what, exactly is covered while traveling. You may be surprised at how much isn’t covered when you’re away from home.

Delayed baggage insurance will help you pay for replacement clothing if the airline sends your suitcase to Timbuktu and you need something to wear in the meantime. Supplemental baggage insurance will pay a predetermined amount if an airline loses your luggage completely. (Some higher-end credit cards provide extra baggage insurance, so check with your card issuer before paying extra for this coverage.)

Disney sells trip insurance, but for most trips, it’s more expensive than other plans, and usually more restrictive. Additionally, it only covers the cost of your Disney trip (including airfare), so if you do anything else on your trip, such as visit another theme park, buy tickets to an offsite event, etc., those aren’t covered. With a third-party policy, you can cover all potential costs of the entire trip, from any providers, with one policy. You can almost always get better insurance than Disney provides, and at better rates, by buying it elsewhere.

The one situation where Disney’s insurance is a good deal is for very expensive trips. Disney’s insurance is charged at a flat rate per adult (children are included as long as all adults buy the insurance), but third-party plans have a variable charge based on the total cost of your trip and the ages of the adults. The break-even point for a family with two 30-year old adults is roughly $8,000-$12,000 of total trip costs, depending on exactly which plan you choose and what coverages you want. So if you’re 60 years old, flying in from New Zealand and staying at the Grand Floridian in a concierge room for 10 nights, Disney’s travel insurance is an incredible steal. For most people, though, third-party insurance is a better deal.

Be aware that in most cases, trip insurance will provide slightly less coverage (usually by adding exclusions on pre-existing medical conditions) unless you buy it within about 14-21 days of paying your deposit on the vacation package. So be sure to purchase it right away, once you’ve committed to the trip.

Ultimate Guide To The Best Vacation Packages for Disney World and Disneyland

Planning a Disney vacation can be stressful and expensive!

Components of a Disney World Vacation Package:

Park tickets.

Walt Disney World offers a wide variety of ticket options. One of the biggest decisions you’ll have to make when planning your trip to Walt Disney World is what type of ticket to purchase . First, some basics on tickets.

Standard Theme Park Tickets  provide entrance to a single theme park on a given day. You can upgrade to a  Park Hopper  (to visit more than one theme park on a given day) or to a  Park Hopper Plus  (to receive a varying amount of admissions to the so-called “minor gates” that consist of the water parks, Oak Trails Golf Course, Disney’s miniature golf courses, and Wide World of Sports).

Tickets are available in lengths of 1 to 10 days . The Standard Theme Park Ticket is just one park admission per day — so no park hopping unless you upgrade to a Park Hopper or Park Hopper Plus. Ticket prices start at $109 per ticket, per day. And those prices are subject to change based on ticket style and season.

Tickets are sold as “Guest 10+” for adult tickets or “Guest 3-9” for a child. Anyone under age three is free. There are no special tickets or discounts for the disabled or senior citizens.

Annual Passes allow Passholders to visit the Parks whenever they wish (except for blockout dates where applicable), so long as they obtain a  Disney Park Pass reservation  for the day and Park they wish to visit. Passholders can Park Hop with their Passes.

Complimentary theme park parking is included in the price. Annual Passholders have other benefits described on our  Annual Passholders page . There is a small discount when you renew your AP.

Hotel/Resort

A  Walt Disney World   Resort hotel can almost be as much fun to visit as one of the theme parks! Each Resort has its own theme, with various dining, entertainment, and recreation options. All of the Walt Disney World Resort hotels include the perk of Early Theme Park Entry — meaning you can enter the parks 30 minutes before they open to the general public.

Value Resorts

Amenities at Value Resorts include food courts, swimming pools, and complimentary Disney transportation, such as buses or Skyliner. This is Disney’s category for the lowest tier of pricing. For more information on these Resorts, visit our  Value Resort Main Page.

Moderate Resorts

Amenities at Moderate Resorts include full-service restaurants, lounges, swimming pools with a slide and hot tub, and complimentary Disney Transportation, such as buses, boats, or Skyliner. Deluxe Resorts

Amenities include larger rooms, full-service restaurants, lounges, valet parking, elaborate swimming pools, and complimentary Disney transportation, such as the Monorail, Skyliner, boats, or buses. The Deluxe Resorts are Disney’s most expensive hotels. With a few exceptions, these hotels are the only ones to be able to utilize the Extended Evening Theme Park Entry perk. Also considered deluxe resorts are the Walt Disney World Swan  and  Dolphin  and  Swan Reserve . Disney doesn’t own and operate them, but they share the same perks, such as Early Theme Park Entry and Extended Evening Theme Park Hours.

The immersive  Star Wars-themed resort  is a NEW option for Disney World visitors.  The  Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser  is technically a hotel option, but it lends itself more toward a complete experience. Disney calls it a “2-night, immersive adventure,” and the  Galatic Starcruiser opened on March 1st, 2022 . It is the most highly-themed Resort that Disney has  ever  built, and it promises to transport guests into the world of  Star Wars  for an experience like no other. Guests aboard Galactic Starcruiser will not need to purchase an admission ticket to Hollywood Studios in order to experience the “port day” in  Galaxy’s Edge . This excursion is included in the price of your two-day voyage.

Disney Vacation Club Villas

Amenities at these resorts include full-service restaurants, in-room kitchen facilities, in-room laundry in many rooms, luggage service, swimming pools, on-site recreation, front-door parking, flexible room arrangements, bus, boat, or Skyliner transportation. The price for DVC Villas is comparable to Deluxe Resorts, but can also exceed in price when booking a multi-room villa. DVC Villa Resorts have access to Extended Evening Theme Park Hours. Travel the World in seriously adorable style with the rideshare Minnie Van program! This rideshare can be booked through the Lyft App and does cost an extra fee. But you may view that as an investment in securing more time experiencing your Disney resort or favorite attractions rather than waiting for a bus.

Airline/airport transportation.

In January 2022, Disney discontinued its free Magical Express transportation service, which gave guests round-trip rides from the Orlando International Airport (MCO) to their Disney resort and back again. Now, Disney visitors flying to Orlando will have to pay for their transportation from the airport to Disney property. Let’s dig into those options.

Mears Connect

Mears has been a mainstay at MCO for decades, and unbeknownst to many Magical Express users, Mears actually operated that service for the duration of its existence. Mears Connect offers two options: Standard and Express. We get into the details on  our Mears Connect page , so definitely give that a look.

Essentially, Standard service is on a motorcoach-style bus, just like Magical Express. Guests may have a short wait before departing, and they may have to wait through several Resort drop-offs depending on the other passengers’ needs and the bus route.

Express (or Premium) service promises a shorter wait to depart and direct service to your Resort. The time savings is offset by a steeper price tag.

Sunshine Flyer

The Sunshine Flyer is not too dissimilar from Mears Connect, and you can book shared-ride shuttle services One-Way or Round Trip from Orlando Airport to your Disney World hotel. We give more details about The Sunshine Flyer  here .

The Sunshine Flyer schedules shuttles to depart from the airport within 20 minutes of your arrival, and you do not have the option to book a private bus. The buses are designed to resemble 1920s steam engines.

Rideshare/Taxi/Car Service

Of course, Mears and The Sunshine Flyer aren’t the only transportation options in town. Rideshare services have become popular with Disney World guests over the past several years. These (and taxis) are the most direct way to travel if you do not want to rent a car. Rideshare services — Uber and Lyft are both relatively easy to access on Property — can vary significantly in terms of cost. Variables like the number of passengers and the need for car seats can make a big difference when it comes to travel between MCO and WDW.

Rideshare users can expect to pay anywhere from $30 to $50 (or more, if they have special requests) to travel between MCO and their Disney Resorts.

If you prefer to pilot your own vehicle between the airport and Walt Disney World, MCO has no shortage of rental car options to make that happen. In fact, there are dozens of On Airport and Off Airport options. (Off Airport options typically offer a shuttle to the lot.)

You’ll want to check out the rental car options available to you at MCO. Research online, and look for details like whether they offer a rewards program or the opportunity to skip the rental car desk and head right to the parking garage to select a vehicle.

Deciding whether or not to rent a vehicle can be tough. There are several variables to keep in mind, including:

• Cost to gas up (or  not  to gas up) upon return to MCO
• Cost to travel on Florida’s toll roads between MCO and WDW
• Parking fees at your Disney Resort hotel
• Potential traffic woes like busy highways, challenging directions, and weather

You might find driving to your Disney vacation the most convenient way to arrive. Not only do you not have to worry about how much luggage you bring or how much it weighs, you’ll also have some extra freedom to set your own schedule.

But while driving does provide you with a bit of freedom, there are some things to keep in mind. First, you’ll need to factor in the cost for any tolls or parking fees. And if you’re covering a larger distance, you may also have to factor in the time and money to an overnight hotel stay.

Luckily, with Google Maps and the easy-to-navigate Disney traffic signs, you’ll never be lost! And if you happen to need a little maintenance on your vehicle before you hit the road, Disney has a Car Care Center on property to help.

Components of a disneyland vacation package.

Though just as magical, a Disneyland vacation package and experience will be a little bit different. So, there isn’t a “Copy/Paste” planning method for both US Disney parks, and each one will take its own approach.

Much like Disney World,  park ticket prices at Disneyland vary depending on the day you visit.  Tickets are more expensive on peak (busier) dates and less expensive on less busy dates. It’s all based on demand and expectation of demand.

1-day, 1-park tickets start at $109 and goes all the way up to $179. The Park Hopper Ticket option ranges from $169-$244 per day per ticket. And these prices depend on the time of year that you choose to visit.

If you’re planning a multi-day trip and want tickets for several days, you’ll need to plan for:

• 2-day ticket, 1 park per day: $285 
• 3-day ticket, 1 park per day:  $360 
• 4-day ticket, 1 park per day: $395 
• 5-day ticket, 1 park per day: $415 

If you’re looking to Park Hop during your multi-day visit:

• 2-day ticket, park hopper:  $345 
• 3-day ticket, park hopper: $420 
• 4-day ticket, park hopper:  $455 
• 5-day ticket, park hopper: $475 

Magic Key Pass

The new  Magic Key Passes  that replaced Disneyland’s Annual Passholder program were  first introduced in 2021 , and  some tiers quickly sold out.  After that, Disney announced that  further sales of Magic Key Passes would be paused  but didn’t share any indication of when they might resume.  No new Magic Key Passes are currently being sold . 

Disney began selling Magic Key Passes on August 25th, 2021  and there were four tiered passes guests could choose from — the Dream, Believe, Enchant, and Imagine Keys.

The Dream Key was the most expensive option and quickly sold out , followed by  the Believe Key . Soon enough,  in May 2022 Disney stopped selling new Enchant and Imagine Keys as well , meaning that no Magic Key Passes are being sold at all.

Located in the heart of Anaheim, the Disneyland area offers guests a wide variety of hotels and resorts. In addition to the on-site hotels owned by Disney, there is a large selection of nearby off-site “Good Neighbor” hotels. Most major chains are represented, and several well-regarded locally-owned establishments are also represented. With so many choices, there is something to appeal to almost every vacation style and budget.

Disney offers three different Disney-owned resort hotels, each with their own individual theme and environment. All are more of a “deluxe” class of resort, with amenities such as valet parking, bell services, in-room dining service, room charging privileges, and concierge-level rooms and services.

Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel features a relaxing beach resort atmosphere, with warm and inviting decor.

“Magic” is the theme at the  Disneyland Hotel , from the pixie-dusted rooms to the elaborate “E-ticket” pool area.

Disney’s Grand Californian Resort and Spa  offers luxury accommodations and services in the elegant surroundings of this Arts and Crafts themed resort.

The Villas at the Grand Californian  is the first  Disney Vacation Club resort offered to California. The resort offers  home-away-from-home accommodations ranging from studios with kitchenettes to one- and two-bedroom villas with full kitchens and the deluxe 3-bedroom Grand Villas.

And a NEW Disney Vacation Club option is opening in Disneyland, soon. The new tower will be called  The Villas at Disneyland Hotel  and is expected to open sometime in  2023 with a new pool and restaurant. The rooms inside will have a Sleeping Beauty theme, and Disney Imagineers have said they’re looking at Walt’s drawings for inspiration.

Good Neighbor  hotels are properties in the area that are independently owned and operated. To receive the  Good Neighbor designation, they have been rated on amenities, service, decor, guest satisfaction, price, and location. All-inclusive travel packages can be booked at these hotels through the Walt Disney Travel Company, or through your own travel agent. There are over 40 different properties, with a variety of accommodations available: budget motels, kid suites, and moderate and deluxe accommodations.

When you visit Disneyland, you’ll really just need to plan how you’re getting there, because once you’re there, the resort is so compact, you can easily walk anywhere on property with ease.

Disneyland is in Anaheim, California, just outside Los Angeles. And being close to a large metropolis provides several airport options to help guests find the best option.

John Wayne Airport, Orange County (SNA)

Distance:  At about 15 miles, John Wayne Airport in Orange County is the closest airport to Disneyland (CA-55 North, I-5 North).

How long it should take:  Drive time varies from about 18–35 minutes without traffic to up to an hour during afternoon commute time between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.

SNA provides car rental services, rideshare, taxi, and private car services are all available here to help get you to your Disneyland hotel from the airport.

Long Beach Airport (LGB)

Distance : 24 miles, with two main routes: CA-91 East, I-5 South; and 405 South, CA-22 East.

How long it should take:  Drive time varies from 22–50 minutes without traffic to about an hour during afternoon commute time between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.

LGB provides car rental services, rideshare, taxi, and private car services are all available here to help get you to your Disneyland hotel from the airport.

Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)

Distance : 34 miles, with two primary routes: I-105 East, I-5 South; and CA-91 East.

How long it should take:  Drive time varies from 35–55 minutes without traffic to as much as an hour and 50 minutes during afternoon commute time between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.

LAX provides car rental services, rideshare, taxi, and private car services are all available here to help get you to your Disneyland hotel from the airport.

Ontario International Airport (ONT)

Distance : 36 miles, with two routes: I-10 West, CA-57 South; and I-15 South, CA-19 West.

How long it should take:  Drive time varies from 35–75 minutes to 90 minutes during afternoon commute time between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.

ONT provides car rental services, rideshare, taxi, and private car services are all available here to help get you to your Disneyland hotel from the airport.

Hollywood Burbank Airport, AKA Bob Hope Airport (BUR)

Distance:  45 miles, (I-5 South).

How long it should take:  Drive time varies from 35–50 minutes without traffic to as much as two hours and 20 minutes during afternoon commute time between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.

BUR provides car rental services, rideshare, taxi, and private car services are all available here to help get you to your Disneyland hotel from the airport.

Since most visitors arrive at Disneyland by car via Interstate 5 (I5, aka Santa Ana Freeway), here are some helpful directions for those traveling to Disneyland either northbound or southbound on I5.

Southbound on I5 , when coming from, for example, LAX, San Francisco, Hollywood, etc.

Proceed on I5 south to  Disneyland Drive . Stay in the three left lanes for the theme parks and follow the “Theme Park” signs to the Mickey and Friends parking structure. For the resort hotels or Downtown Disney, stay in the two right lanes and follow the signs to the appropriate parking areas.

Northbound on I5 , when coming from, for example, San Diego, John Wayne Airport, Irvine, etc.

There are actually a couple of ways, and which way is best depends on where you are going. For the theme parks using the Disney Way exit off I-5 is easiest, but usually a longer drive to the parking lots, and you may end up in a more outlying parking lot. For the hotels or Downtown Disney, and for a direct route to the Mickey and Friends parking structure, our AllEars.net staffers prefer the Harbor Drive route, so that one is listed first.

For theme parks, resort hotels and Downtown Disney: Proceed on I5 north to  Harbor Boulevard . Turn right at the top of the off-ramp, then make an immediate left at the next stop light onto  Ball Road.  At the second light, turn left onto  Disneyland Drive. Stay in the three left lanes for the theme parks and follow the “Theme Park” signs to the Mickey and Friends parking structure. For the resort hotels or Downtown Disney, stay in the two right lanes and follow the signs to the appropriate parking areas.

For theme park parking only: Proceed on I5 north to  Disney Way.  Turn left at the offramp, then go about 1 mile and follow the signs to the parking area.

For the hotels or Downtown Disney: Proceed on I5 north to  Katella Avenue and turn left. Go about 1.5 miles, turn right on Disneyland Drive, and follow the signs.

I grew up in Southern California, and my parents worked at The Walt Disney Company since before I was even born, which means I spent (and still spend) a ton of time at Disneyland and California Adventure. It also makes me a Disney adult by default (alongside Emma Stone, Natalie Portman, and more Disney adult celebs ).

With so much time spent in the parks, I am the first to admit that the Happiest Place on Earth quickly becomes the most miserable if you didn’t pack some theme park essentials. To help with packing efforts , I asked Disney adults and influencers for their Disney day trip must-haves.

The Best Shoes to Wear to Disney

Comfortable sneakers are one of the most important things to consider when packing for a day at Disney. Alex Nelson , a senior shopping editor at PEOPLE, loves these Cariuma sneakers because they’re comfortable and match all of her park outfits. “I definitely recommend breaking them in first with a few short walks before taking them for a spin around the parks,” she notes.

The Salvas come in men’s and women’s sizes and are constructed from durable leather, so they’ll hold up for your theme park adventures.

Reebok Renaissance

For another pair of classic white sneakers, Megan Heneghan, aka Megan the Magical Millennial , loves Reeboks: “I have been wearing my Reebok Renaissance sneakers to the parks for a few years now, and they keep my feet the most comfortable — even on the 12- to 15-hour park days.”

In addition to their versatile style, these sneakers have an EVA midsole with lightweight cushioning that allows for extra support and comfort.  

PacSun Women's Buckle Strap Sandals

If you prefer to wear sandals to a theme park, Heneghan says these PacSun slides are super comfortable. They’re lightweight with a padded sole for extra cushion, and they can double as pool shoes for enjoying your hotel’s amenities on those in between Disney days.

The Best Theme Park Backpacks and Bags

“While a belt bag or crossbody bag is a good option for carrying around the parks, I highly recommend getting a Loungefly backpack,” says Nelson. Loungefly makes some of the best theme park backpacks in hundreds of designs, so you can find ones that fit your Disney style.

I have this Tigger Loungefly (pictured below), and Nelson loves her Disney Princess Books Loungefly (pictured above). “It’s a good size that fits in almost all the small pouches to stow belongings on park rides,” she notes. 

Lululemon Everywhere Belt Bag

The Lululemon belt bags are a go-to for everyday wear — and they work well for a Disney day, too.

“When I am only taking a few items to the park with me, I love bringing my belt bag,” says Heneghan. The small bag comes in lots of fun colors and prints (so you can totally coordinate with your Disney OOTD) and is large enough to fit your phone, keys, credit cards, and a small bottle of sunscreen.

I also have this Lululemon belt bag lookalike from Amazon. It's only $20 and makes an excellent blank canvas for displaying your pin collection . 

Corkcicle Disney Sling

Stay hydrated and save money by bringing your own reusable water bottle to the park. If your bottle doesn’t fit in your bag (or you want it a little more accessible), the Corkcicle Disney Sling is a fun and functional way to show off your park style. “

They have the cutest Grogu one that makes it super easy to carry your water bottle around the parks,” says Heneghan.

Calpak Terra Sling Bag

This Calpak crossbody is the best bag for a rainy Disney trip. I have it in red to match my Minnie Mouse ears and love that it’s made from a laminated ripstop polyester material, making it ultra-durable and water-resistant (I’ve even worn it in a Vancouver downpour and it kept all of my belongings dry).

The bag is also a great travel purse , so it’s an excellent choice for anyone flying into Orlando or Anaheim for a Disney vacation.

The Best Accessories for Disney World and Disneyland

Jewelry is a fun way to incorporate subtle magical touches into your park look. Nelson loves Baublebar’s Disney jewelry collection , and these Minnie Mouse earrings are one of her go-to styles.

A good pair of sunglasses is another theme park essential, and Disney influencer David Vaughn says he doesn’t leave home without a pair of Ray-Bans: “These folding wayfarers are super practical for storing before a ride."

In addition to their compact size, they’re also comfortable enough to wear for hours in the California and Florida sun.

When it’s hot out, and you’re contemplating going on It’s a Small World a second time just to cool off, Vaughn says mini handheld fans are a game changer.

“They’re easy to carry, quiet, and keep you cool — buy one for every person in your party,” he notes. Heneghan agrees and says she always keeps this mini fan from Amazon in her park bag. 

Baublebar Minnie Mouse Disney Multicolored Gem Ears Headband

Character ears are a fun way to accessorize your Disney look. You can find these in every store at the parks, but for something a little more unique, consider buying a licensed pair from Baublebar.

You can also find budget-friendly Minnie Ears on Amazon and some incredible handmade character ears on Etsy (I adore these Winnie the Pooh ears and these simple pink velvet ears ). 

Sew Kawaii Studio Ear Holder Cast Member Name Tag

Whether you need a break from wearing a headband all day or are about to get on a ride, an ear holder key chain can keep your ears safe (and allow you to still show them off). This custom keychain is inspired by the cast member name tag and is a sweet touch to any Disney look. 

Mickey Mouse Baseball Cap for Adults by Nike

If you’re heading to Disney on a sunny day, add a baseball cap to your look. I have had this Mickey one from Nike for over seven years, and it’s still one of my go-to styles.

I love that it’s made from a moisture-wicking polyester material, which makes it cool on the head and easy to clean. The subtle Mickey logo is also adorable. 

The Best Sunscreen for Disneyland and Disney World

Supergoop unseen sunscreen.

Vaughn swears by Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen (and it’s one of our favorites , too). “It’s incredibly lightweight, invisible, and doesn’t have that sunscreen smell,” he notes.

This SPF comes in three sizes, including a mini 0.68 oz. option that doesn’t take up a lot of space in your park bag. If you run out while at the parks, Downtown Disney and Disney Springs have Sephora on-site for all of your restocking needs.

If you’re looking for something a tad more budget-friendly, Elf Suntouchable Invisble SPF 35 is one of the best Unseen Sunscreen dupes. 

Vacation Super Spritz Face Mist

I am obsessed with Vacation sunscreens, and this mist version is always in my bag for a Disneyland day. The SPF 50 has a convenient spray nozzle that makes it easy to touch up your sun protection throughout the day. Plus, the mini 1-ounce bottle is travel-friendly and doesn’t take up a lot of extra space in your belt bag or Loungefly backpack. 

EltaMD UV AOX Mist Mineral Sunscreen Spray

If you need sunscreen for your face and body — and one that is large enough to protect your entire group — this one from EltaMD is an excellent choice. The mineral sunscreen has SPF 40 and is formulated with vitamins C and E, aloe, and coconut fruit extract, so it has extra skincare benefits.

It’s also water and sweat-resistant for up to 40 minutes, which is a must for hot summer days in the parks. 

Other Disney World and Disneyland Essentials to Pack

On top of comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, mini fans, and — of course — your favorite Disney accessories, a few other essentials can help with a more seamless park experience. 

• Electrolytes: Add a few packs of electrolytes to boost hydration on extra sweaty days. I love the Nuun Daily Electrolyte Tablets (the tablets are so convenient!). 
• First Aid Kit: A first aid kit is also worth adding to your bag, especially on hot days when feet are more prone to blistering. The Welly Quick Fix First Aid Kit comes in a two pack and includes bandages, ointments, and sanitizers. 
• Bug Repellent: If you’re headed to Florida, bug repellent is a must. Kinfield Golden Hour Mosquito Repellent is one of my go-to formulas, but I also love bug repellent bracelets .
• Lip Balm: If you aren’t already someone who keeps a mini lip balm store in their bags (guilty), make sure to add at least one to your backpack for a Disney day. The Mario Badescu lip balm is one of my all-time favorites, but I have also been known to use the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask as a daytime hydrator, especially in that dry California heat. You can bring water to Disney World and Disneyland. In fact, there are several water refill stations throughout the parks. If you’re bringing your own reusable water bottle, I recommend something insulated like the Hydro Flask 24 oz. bottle , which will help keep your water cool and refreshing on a hot day. 

In addition to bringing your own water bottle, add some electrolyte packets to your park bag to maximize hydration. I love the Cure Lemonade Hydrating Electrolyte Mix (it’s so tasty!) or the Nuun Hydration Daily Wellness Electrolyte Tablets . 

What should you wear to Disneyland and Disney World?

What you wear to Disneyland and Disney World will depend entirely on the time of year. The most important things to consider are comfort and layers (in case it gets chilly at night or while on the rides). 

For men, Vaughn says hybrid shorts such as the BC Surf Men’s Hybrid Amphibious Quick-Dry Shorts are a must. “These are ideal for guys who want to ride water attractions because they dry quickly.” He also recommends getting in the Disney spirit with a themed jersey — like the Toy Story Athletic Jersey — or a cool graphic tee such as the Disney Villains Group Collage Men’s T-Shirt .

Heneghan loves a comfortable and versatile tank such as the Free People Women's Hayley Racerback Brami . “I love the Free People tank because it is lightweight, and there are so many cute colors available.” She also loves a lightweight tennis skirt with built-in shorts ( this one from Amazon is her favorite), an athleisure dress such as the Halara Easy Peezy Dress , or a pair of Lululemon shorts for a hot summer day.

If you’re headed to Disney in California, the weather cools down a lot in the evenings, and acclimating can be tricky after being in the sun all day. With that in mind, bring a sweatshirt with you so that you can cover up and stay comfortable while going on rides at night.
