I bought them from Ebay - I don't remember the exact company, but if you do a search for the '04 style lighting, you should get returns. They are a direct plug in because the housing are same shape and mounting placement is the same. I am using Sylvania Silver Star Ultras as my bulbs. I like the output I get. There are other bulbs out there also.  

I did the 05-06 upgrade the trimming is in the fiberglass behind the headlights. If you have a Dremel it is real easy. Can't really tell that you cut the fiberglass if you take your time. You can also go to the parts house and buy some touch up paint and touch up what you cut and the only people who will know are people who can tell what engine you have by the sound.  

I was browsing around on 1A Auto, and they seem to have a nice set of headlights, which are obviously the newer style, for a good price...was hoping to find something with a little more flare, but that is definitely my plan B. Hoping to hear more from you guys!

Yeah, their prices are pretty good!!! If no one else tosses in any ideas, I may just stick with that, as trying to get a solid answer on HID's or any other headlight assembly is pretty difficult. I read for almost 4 hours yesterday and I can say my brain almost caved in

This video shows you how to replace a headlight bulb in your 2005 Ford Excursion, your headlight bulb may also be known as a headlight low beam. Headlights grow dimmer by up to 20% over time and eventually burn out - for this reason, we recommend changing your headlights in pairs. Changing both headlight bulbs on your Excursion at the same time will allow both bulbs to have the same intensity and prevent the new headlight bulb from appearing brighter than the bulb on the opposite side.

In some Fords, the highbeam is the same bulb as the headlight and it is possible for the highbeam to work, but the headlight be burnt out even if they are the same bulb (and vice versa). Some Fords have high intensity discharge headlights, sometimes referred to as xenon lights. Xenon headlights have a ballast to ignite the high voltage xenon lights when they turn on that can remain energized even if the lights are turned off. Be sure to disconnect the headlight assembly or battery before attempting to replace it. If your Excursion has a HID headlight burnt out, it could be a burnt out bulb or failed headlight ballast.

The headlight bulb replacement cost for your Excursion varies depending on where you go to get your headlight replaced. Ford dealerships will tend to be pricier and parts retailers such as AutoZone will often replace it for free if you buy bulbs there. Open the hood and make sure the car and the lights are off. Remove the plastic protective cover.There are 3 knobs,turn halfway and pull.Put aside and out of the way. Remove the three pins that are holding the light assembly in place.These are flat rods with a little bend at the end. Twist and un-plug the lights,now you can remove the whole lens. The light bulbs can also be removed and replaced from this point. Make sure all the bulbs are working before you put it back together.
