Nothing wrong with Sorgun but Belek definitely better.

We stayed at the Sorgun last year and had a brilliant holiday This year we did the Belek and although the Belek is more luxurious and bigger we preferred the Sorgun The service was much better and the staff were friendlier Guest Relations were amazing Every evening they patroled the complex asking the guests if everything was ok There was a lot more entertainment in the afternoon at the Sorgun and it suited all ages We think the Sorgun was just more intimate and it suited us better However everyone has their own preference so it is a case of tossing a coin Both are excellent

I have only stayed at the belek but heard good things also about the sorgun. voyage belek is much bigger and more to do.

I think my post got a bit buried in another thread, but has anyone been to both? How do they compare?

Thank you tony. I think if the price is right, we may just book VB for next summer when the brochures come out. Should be soon as I went to Thomas Cook today to get my currency, and they are asking people to register. End of the month hopefully - just as I return from my Easter break! :)

Tuborg beer doesn't appeal to the OH and I think LW prices and VB prices are probably going to be similar. Be good to meet you aidloz!

Hello. I am looking to book a holiday for my parents in their 70s and a few of their friends for May

When did these 2 hotels have a refurbishment? Thanks for any feedback.

All I can say now is that they have a very similar concept and size. They are both of holiday camp proportions with a fleet of golf buggies to transfer arriving and departing guests with their luggage, staff and supplies. They both cater well for children but have adult-only pools. If any of the party has walking difficulties, I would suggest being in or near the main restaurant building.

I thought VB was ticking all of our boxes tbh when I compared the two as I felt there would be more British guests in October for our boys. VS seems to attract a more varied group of nationalities and also seems a wee bit away from Side. I have looked at the other hotels on offer in that area but none appeal as much.

So my question is this, which hotel out of these two or others you can recommend, will meet the following criteria:

Very good standard of food with choices at lunch and good a la cartes.

Lots of places to go in the evening, not just the pool bar with music etc. (Totally spoiled here by Limak Arcadia)

Two bedroom rooms of a very good standard.

Not too far from resort centre so we can go out if we fancy it.

The likelihood of quite a few British families so the boys have the chance to mingle if they choose to.

Good entertainment team, (totally and completely blown away by the Arcadia team, really tough act to follow).

Heated pool(s) as we would be flying 8/9th October.

I'll be very interested in the replies you get here, would like to hear from someone who has been to both myself.

It's also about £500 cheaper for us than the VB at the moment. But have you noticed that Thomas Cook prices seem to have dropped quite a lot in the last couple of weeks?

We have stayed at VB four times and VS once, says it all really.

VS is good, but everything is not as good as Belek.

I have only ever spoken to one person who preferred Sorgun, and her husband and daughter both disagreed with her!

Haha Em, yes your holiday sounded far too good.

Thomas cook prices are very good just now, they are certainly beating everyone else for our dates. If the VB was in Side then we would be happy, I think the Sorgun may be too quiet for us, whereas you will have your friends with you so I don't think it will be an issue for you. I'm not sure what our friends will be doing as we are stuck to October so we might have to play on our own this time:))

The Belek hotels seem more appealing to me so I am going to have to have a proper think about this. I'm not sure if I will get many replies as the forum is so quiet.

I know exactly what you mean. Belek does have fabulous hotels that are hard to beat but I wasn't that excited by the area. I think the drive in rather put me off with all the bill boards advertising the hotels. Whereas Side just really charmed me as a town. But I don't think there is anywhere central to Side Old town that will give the AI luxury we've become used to, so I'm happy to be a short taxi ride away.

I'm sure I'll return to Belek at some point, but definitely fancy Side again next year.

Only done a day trip( twice) to Side and loved it..I had a vist last year to the VB..good hotel. Would agree that Belek hasnt much going for it, Side is stunning BUT the hotels in Belek have very high standards.

Why not stay at Belek and do a couple of day trips by local bus to Side. That works for us.

That's an idea heblady. Definitely think the \belek hotels seem nicer.

I've thought of another criteria:o

We liked the size of the Arcadia, it seemed really spread out which suits us as we like to wander about. Is the Voyage on quite a big pitch does anyone know?

I found a really good price, but we decided against it in the end, due to the weather, not guaranteed , it does look a fabulous hotel and would like to try it in the future, we spoke with Andy B when we stayed at the Voyage at Easter and as he says he much preferred the Belek hotel.

Not sure how large the Arcadia is, but the Voyage is on a very big plot, very spacious and set out really well.

Maybe if you post your question on the Side forum you might get responses from some of the Sorgun fans.

It has been renovated recently.

You can click on reviews for the time of year your going to see what mix of guests were going last October.

Bare in mind that you will have golfers there in October at the Voyage Belek. The Arcadia for example is not attached to a golf course.

Barut Hemera is popular with the Brits and on a nice plot. It is the only Side hotel we have stayed at but totally transformed since we stayed there. They have more rooms and some nice swim up rooms or rooms with a jacuzzi on the terrace. A guy I speak to was really impressed and they are going back next year. Location is great as you can stroll in to Side along the Promanade from this hotel.

Lots of choices and I wouldn't worry to much as October is still popular.

Paloma Renaissance in Beldibi has a great den for the boys and newly renovated and it has lovely grounds.

We went the last week of October in 2009 when our son was 16 and he loved the consoles and games area which is now transformed. We have a great price next October with Thomson.

I always find Google Earth useful to compare plot sizes of hotels. The VB plot looks at least as big as the Arcadia plot on there.

I think you need to decide how important proximity to Side is for you.

VS is a long walk and not good in the dark of October nights, as the Sorgun end is a country lane.

Toady makes 2 good calls, Hemera is in the Side metropolis, so nice easy walking to the old town.

And if you're allergic to golfers avoid VB altogether!

Not allergic to golfers - I married a keen golfer, albeit he doesn't play now but he still follows the golf.

Just worth mentioning as it will be a different mix than Lesley had at the Arcadia.

I don't think it is such an issue tbh. Like Em says, we could just jump in a taxi. I really don't fancy the Hemera for some reason, just not catching my interest at all. The Barut Lara is however and that is somewhere I am now looking at more closely.

Do you agree with Toady about too many golfers in October at the VB?

It will be the same at most of the Belek hotels attached to a golf course - not just the Voyage.

Toady your advice is invaluable on here, I really hope I didn't offend you. I actually edited that post too as wanted to ask you about Barut Lara. No idea why it didn't post again.

I can see you are right about the golfers though. I have just trawled back over the reviews, it wouldn't let me specify months for some reason, and there are a lot from groups of golfers who went in May and say they will return in October.

This is becoming quite a quest to meet all our needs. I think because this is likely to be our only holiday abroad next year, family visiting from Australia in the summer, I want to get it right.

I think I need to get back to work, too much time on my hands for worrying about small issues.

a lady I met on plan went to hemera resort and hated it she thought food poor which I was surprised about rated holiday village better.

Maybe she was a hard one to please and friends went year before and loved it.

Does side end of season finish before belek, ? never been to side but marina sounds nice, I accidently sent me daughter to alba royal hated it she was too young, lol

Have you looked at the Stone group of hotels . Royal Alhambra , Royal dragon .

We stayed at the Alhambra a couple of years ago , great hotel . Not in the centre of Side but we got a taxi to the Side Prenses hotel then walked along the promenade so we didn't miss any of the lovely bars and cafés along the way

I thought VB was ticking all of our boxes tbh when I compared the two as I felt there would be more British guests in October for our boys. VS seems to attract a more varied group of nationalities and also seems a wee bit away from Side. I have looked at the other hotels on offer in that area but none appeal as much.

So my question is this, which hotel out of these two or others you can recommend, will meet the following criteria:

Very good standard of food with choices at lunch and good a la cartes.

Lots of places to go in the evening, not just the pool bar with music etc. (Totally spoiled here by Limak Arcadia)

Two bedroom rooms of a very good standard.

Not too far from resort centre so we can go out if we fancy it.

The likelihood of quite a few British families so the boys have the chance to mingle if they choose to.

Good entertainment team, (totally and completely blown away by the Arcadia team, really tough act to follow).

Heated pool(s) as we would be flying 8/9th October.

I'll be very interested in the replies you get here, would like to hear from someone who has been to both myself.

It's also about £500 cheaper for us than the VB at the moment. But have you noticed that Thomas Cook prices seem to have dropped quite a lot in the last couple of weeks?

We have stayed at VB four times and VS once, says it all really.

VS is good, but everything is not as good as Belek.

I have only ever spoken to one person who preferred Sorgun, and her husband and daughter both disagreed with her!

Haha Em, yes your holiday sounded far too good.

Thomas cook prices are very good just now, they are certainly beating everyone else for our dates. If the VB was in Side then we would be happy, I think the Sorgun may be too quiet for us, whereas you will have your friends with you so I don't think it will be an issue for you. I'm not sure what our friends will be doing as we are stuck to October so we might have to play on our own this time:))

The Belek hotels seem more appealing to me so I am going to have to have a proper think about this. I'm not sure if I will get many replies as the forum is so quiet.

I know exactly what you mean. Belek does have fabulous hotels that are hard to beat but I wasn't that excited by the area. I think the drive in rather put me off with all the bill boards advertising the hotels. Whereas Side just really charmed me as a town. But I don't think there is anywhere central to Side Old town that will give the AI luxury we've become used to, so I'm happy to be a short taxi ride away.

I'm sure I'll return to Belek at some point, but definitely fancy Side again next year.

Only done a day trip( twice) to Side and loved it..I had a vist last year to the VB..good hotel. Would agree that Belek hasnt much going for it, Side is stunning BUT the hotels in Belek have very high standards.

Why not stay at Belek and do a couple of day trips by local bus to Side. That works for us.

That's an idea heblady. Definitely think the \belek hotels seem nicer.

I've thought of another criteria:o

We liked the size of the Arcadia, it seemed really spread out which suits us as we like to wander about. Is the Voyage on quite a big pitch does anyone know?

I found a really good price, but we decided against it in the end, due to the weather, not guaranteed , it does look a fabulous hotel and would like to try it in the future, we spoke with Andy B when we stayed at the Voyage at Easter and as he says he much preferred the Belek hotel.

Not sure how large the Arcadia is, but the Voyage is on a very big plot, very spacious and set out really well.

It has been renovated recently.

You can click on reviews for the time of year your going to see what mix of guests were going last October.

Bare in mind that you will have golfers there in October at the Voyage Belek. The Arcadia for example is not attached to a golf course.

Barut Hemera is popular with the Brits and on a nice plot. It is the only Side hotel we have stayed at but totally transformed since we stayed there. They have more rooms and some nice swim up rooms or rooms with a jacuzzi on the terrace. A guy I speak to was really impressed and they are going back next year. Location is great as you can stroll in to Side along the Promanade from this hotel.

Lots of choices and I wouldn't worry to much as October is still popular.

Paloma Renaissance in Beldibi has a great den for the boys and newly renovated and it has lovely grounds.

We went the last week of October in 2009 when our son was 16 and he loved the consoles and games area which is now transformed. We have a great price next October with Thomson.

I always find Google Earth useful to compare plot sizes of hotels. The VB plot looks at least as big as the Arcadia plot on there.

Hi have been to voyage Sorgun a few times and voyage Torba. Now looking to try Belek next year but it is coming up very pricey. So maybe looking at Sorgun again as really do love it their or trying Voyage Turkubu or even Voyage Bodrum. But really want to try out Belek just want to know if it's worth the extra money compared to what I know I will get at Sorgun thanks.

Having been to the VS last summer and the VB this summer I can give you my personal opinion and try and compare the 2. We had fantastic holidays at both hotels and would return to either but although they have similar concepts, they are quite different in many ways.

Location........we preferred the Sorgun. Side is a much nicer town than Belek if you like to get out.

Rooms.......VS more modern as its been refurbished but the VB more practical with the enclosed bathroom and dressing tables and mirrors in bedrooms.

Buffet.......food was better at the VB but layout made it more chaotic at busy times. Also has advantage of an adult only buffet. But we liked the entertainment in the outside area at the VS. (VB shows in amphitheater)

A la cartes.......very similar, all good, although we did prefer the Teppenyaki at the VS.

Lunchtime choices........I missed the VS beach snack bar this year, but there were plenty of other places to eat.

Bars.......the Planet bar is great at the VB and the VS doesn't really have anything like it. It's adult only after 9pm. Also liked the pool bar with live music in the evenings. But we did enjoy the more comfy seating of the bars at the VS.

Drinks very similar at both for branded alcohol and soft drinks. Probably more fridges to help yourself to at VB.

Service.......better service at reception at VS, and much friendlier, although GR very good at both. Service in restaurants and bars we found much the same with roughly the same amount of English speaking staff. A la cartes better service at VB, and excellent service at their adult buffet.

Entertainment......the VB wins hands down for its parties at night and daytime activities. Although both entertainment teams were extremely good. I did prefer the VS pool party though.

Pools.....the main pool at the VB was more an issue with sunbeds, we did have to save them early to get our group altogether, but probably fine if you just need 2. Never needed to save them at the VS. Constant supply of towels at both.

Waterpark.......the huge Cobra slide at the VB but other than that quite similar slides.

Kids club.....didn't use either but the VB one bigger and has a larger funfair right next to it, whereas the VS is separate.

Beach.........wider bigger beach at the VB and less rocks in the sea. Piers very similar with adult only and family

To sum our holidays up.....the VB was more active as so much going on, loved every minute but came home exhausted! Where the VS felt more relaxing. But that was our choice, there's plenty of places at the VB away from the activities where you'll get peace and quiet and can relax. The VS is noticeably more modern as it's already had its refurb but this doesn't really affect your stay. I would like to return to the VB once the refurb has been done, but this seems to be on hold at the moment, maybe during winter 2018/19?

Like you we wanted to try the VB, and although there were things we preferred at the VS I can fully understand why the VB has so many return guests.

I've also looked at the Turkbuku and the price is coming up cheaper than the others for next year but its much smaller and doesn't seem to have the facilities of the others. I think there's only a couple of a la cartes.

Hi thanks so much for all that info as always a superb informative review/answer. Like you, having looked at all of them and been to two , voyage Sorgun and belek are the two that stand out. As Sorgun has always been at about the top of our budget. V/B is costing quite a bit more at the moment. But if it's worth it i don't mind paying the extra. And fully understand with all hotels and resorts are different and as it has been said before we'd all like to take something from all to make the perfect one lol. But you have sold V/B for me with the entertainment .As that was one of the main reasons we liked V/S. So think I need to bite the bullet and book V/B lol.

I don't think you'll be disappointed if you decide to give it a try! But it's always hard not to compare!

The entertainment was the best we'd had anywhere, and there are some other extras that the VS doesn't have, but I think it's probably just the fact that Belek hotels are always more expensive is why it costs more.

I feel sure that if you researched these other hotels, you would get a much better bargain and perhaps find something that you even prefer to the 2 you are debating about.

Em I thought you'd be o tested to know what my friend thought of Hemera. We have holidayed together the last few years but she visited here with her family 4 years ago.

Of course it could be different now but just her opinion.

Very good but totally catered for Germans or whatever!..English was always last language spoken at shows etc. Lovely hotel but not brilliant amenities

I think she found the lack of amenities a bigger issue tbh. I will be curious to see where you end up. What could beat the Voyages, if anything, in your mind.

This is the problem! I'm normally all booked by now but nothing is really jumping out at me, at least nothing in budget! I was reading your comments about the entertainment at the Arcadia the other night and considered that, but really not keen on Belek for next year! Decisions decisions! I am enjoying the research though, and the later we book the shorter the countdown!

I personally perfer the VB yet strangely I found entertainment better at VS

But they are both excellent. A lot can depend on what week you go and the people you meet

Side is a lovely town, has a better beach than Belek but I really do find the Belek hotels in general a better class of hotel. They just seem to offer a lot more for you buck
