Based in Washington, DC, the members of the String Queens—violinist Kendall Isadore, violist Dawn Johnson, and cellist Élise Sharp—have been featured in famed performance venues on four continents, including Carnegie Hall, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the Howard Theatre, Royal Festival Hall, Radio City Music Hall, the Shanghai Grand Theatre, the Moscow Conservatory, and Blues Alley. They have collaborated with artists across the music industry, including Solange, Janelle Monáe, Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato, and the late Aretha Franklin, among others. As chamber and orchestral musicians, the String Queens have performed under the batons of legendary musical directors Ray Chew, Adam Blackstone, and many more.

The String Queens return to the Ordway—just in time for the holidays! Returning with their signature soulful, orchestral sound, they will share Our Favorite Things , music from their holiday album, and more seasonal favorites in this kick-off to the wintry season.

Hear “O Come, O Come Emmanuel,” “Someday at Christmas,” and of course, “My Favorite Things” plus many more, and celebrate this season with family and friends in the decked-out halls of the Ordway.

Taylor Swift brings the ‘Eras Tour' to Santa Clara's Levi's Stadium this week. Here's a peek at her setlist

Bay Area, are you ready for it? 

Taylor Swift is slated to perform at Santa Clara’s Levi's Stadium in the final stretch of her “Eras Tour” this month (at least, the U.S. portion of it.)  While it’s been hard to avoid seeing videos of the concert on social media in the months since the tour began, the Bay Area can expect at least a few surprises during the two shows. 

The artist is scheduled to perform in Santa Clara on July 28 and July 29. She’ll end her American tour in Los Angeles the following week, with six shows at SoFi Stadium.

Swift’s concert spans nearly three hours, encompassing 44 songs from the many eras of her decorated music career. This is the pop star’s first tour since her stadium tour for the “Reputation” album, which was released 2017. Swift has released four new albums and several re-recorded albums since then.

Stanford to offer course about Taylor Swift

The artist’s setlist has primarily stayed the same throughout the tour, which began in March. Swift begins the show with “Miss Americana & the Heartbreak Prince,” an ode to her “Lover” album. 

An album notably missing from the show’s setlist – the artist’s self-titled debut album. Fans hoping to hear early country hits like “Picture to Burn” or “Teardrops on My Guitar” may miss out. 

In Swift’s previous concerts she’s performed several surprise songs, straying from the prescribed setlist. These have included songs like “Our Song,” “Dear John,” “Snow on the Beach,” “Mirrorball” and “Tim McGraw.” 

Fans can most likely expect two surprise songs at both Bay Area shows, if Swift follows her previous show structure.

And, gulp, it includes not just one, but two nights — May 17-18 — at mammoth Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara.

Yes, that’s the same amount of nights that Taylor Swift performed at Levi’s back in July. And it’s twice as many nights as either Beyonce or Ed Sheeran are playing at the Santa Clara venue on their individual headlining tours.

Impressive.

Actually, Combs is playing nothing but big stadiums on this upcoming road show — dubbed the Growin’ Up and Gettin’ Old Tour — and he’s doing two shows in pretty much every city he visits. (The one exception being his show at the Country Thunder Saskatchewan in Craven, Saskatchewan, Canada.)

Tickets to the Levi’s dates go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Aug. 25, ticketmaser.com . Fans can also register for a presale at lukecombs.com .

The Rolling Stones Announce ‘Hackney Diamonds’ North American Stadium Tour

The Rolling Stones are hitting stadiums across North America in 2024 to celebrate the release of their new album, Hackney Diamonds . The 16-city tour (which includes a headlining slot at Jazz Fest in New Orleans) kicks off April 28 at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas, and wraps up July 17 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. Ticket sales begin December 1 at 10:00 am.

Hackney Diamonds is the first Rolling Stones album of new material since 2005’s A Bigger Bang . Produced by Andrew Watt and featuring guest appearances by Paul McCartney, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, and Lady Gaga, the album was met with near-universal acclaim. “A collection of bangers (old-school division) that nobody in their right mind had a right to expect in 2023,” Rolling Stone ’s David Browne wrote, “Hackney Diamonds isn’t just another new Stones album, but a vibrant and cohesive record — the first Stones album in ages you’ll want to crank more than once before filing away.”
