Prince William and wife Kate visit Wales for 1st time since getting new titles

The new Prince and Princess of Wales made their first official visit to Wales since they began using their updated titles.

Prince William and the former Kate Middleton were named the Prince and Princess of Wales following the death of Queen Elizabeth II earlier this month. They were previously known as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Cornwall.

William and Kate made a few stops during their Tuesday visit to Wales, which is one of the four countries that make up the United Kingdom, beginning with an event at the Royal National Lifeboat Institution's Holyhead Lifeboat Station.

William sported a dark navy suit while Kate wore a knee-length red coat and wide-legged black trousers as they greeted crew members, volunteers and members of the public at Holyhead, one of the oldest lifeboat stations on the Welsh coast.

During their visit, the couple accepted flowers from well-wishers and greeted children in the crowd.

The prince and princess also met with other members of the local community, including members of the coast guard and sea cadets, at the Holyhead Marine and Café Bar.

Later in the afternoon, they visited the nearby town of Swansea, meeting with volunteers at St. Thomas Church.

The church provides a range of services to the local community, including serving as a food bank, providing baby supplies for parents in need, and running a nonprofit café and community training kitchen, Kensington Palace said in a news release.

William is now using a title previously held by his father, King Charles III. And Kate's title was once famously held by William’s late mother, Diana, Princess of Wales.

Earlier this month, a Kensington Palace spokesperson said that Kate “appreciates the history associated with this role” but will “understandably want to look to the future as she creates her own path.”

“The couple are focused on deepening the trust and respect of the people of Wales over time,” the spokesperson said. “The Prince and Princess of Wales will approach their roles in the modest and humble way they’ve approached their work previously.”

On the accession of King Charles III, the new monarch announced in his first televised speech that his son and heir, Prince William, would now inherit the Prince of Wales title, with his wife becoming Princess of Wales – a moniker not used since the death of Kate’s late mother-in-law Diana, Princess of Wales, in 1997. With the official Royal Mourning period following the Queen’s death now over, the Royal Family are resuming their roster of engagements, with William and Kate headed southwest for their first visit to Wales since becoming its prince and princess.

On Tuesday 27 September, Kensington Palace announced: ‘The Prince and Princess of Wales will visit Wales to meet different communities across the nation and learn about the work of key charitable organisations. The prince and princess have a deep affection for Wales, having made their first family home in Anglesey, and have thoroughly enjoyed previous visits and the warmth and kindness shown by the Welsh people. Their Royal Highnesses are looking forward to spending more time in Wales over the coming months and years, taking the time to strengthen their relationship with communities in all parts of Wales.’

Their itinerary will begin with a visit to Anglesey, where William and Kate will meet crew, volunteers and locals connected to the RNLI Holyhead Lifeboat Station. Kensington Palace explained that ‘Holyhead is one of the three oldest lifeboat stations on the Welsh coast and has a remarkable history of bravery, having received 70 awards for gallantry.’ The couple will proceed to the Holyhead Marine and Café Bar, to chat with members of the community and local businesses and organisations, including the Sea Cadets and Coastguard.

Next, the prince and princess will travel to Swansea, visiting St Thomas Church to meet volunteers and members of the public. Having been re-developed over the last two years, the building now acts as a focal point for the community, offering support through services like a foodbank, Swansea Baby Basics (providing essential items for vulnerable mothers), facilities for the homeless, a not-for-profit café and training kitchen, and a surplus food distribution project.

In 2020, Kate worked with 19 British brands to donate over 10,000 new items to baby banks across the country. She has previously visited a number of baby banks across the UK, tying in with her focus on early years and supporting families.

The then Duke and Duchess of Cambridge lived in Anglesey from 2010 and 2013, soon after their marriage, when William worked as a search and rescue helicopter pilot. The prince has spoken fondly of their former home in the past, commenting at the 2013 Anglesey Show: ‘I know that I speak for Catherine when I say I have never in my life known somewhere as beautiful and as welcoming as Anglesey.’

The Prince and Princess of Wales have arrived in the country for the first time since taking up their new titles .

William and Kate will travel the length of Wales today after they visited Holyhead in Anglesey, North Wales.

They will then travel to Swansea in South West Wales.

The royal couple's titles were publicly confirmed during King Charles' first televised speech to the nation.

They had promised to visit at the earliest opportunity following the death of the Queen , and return hoping to begin “deepening the trust and respect” they have with the people of Wales.

Kate, dressed in a long, red coat with a black handbag, could be seen laughing and waving at the crowds gathered at the RNLI Holyhead Lifeboat Station.

While there, they met the crew, volunteers and some of those who have previously been rescued by the team.

Kate also received a posy of flowers by adorable four-year-old Theo Crompton who looked stunned at meeting the royals.

It is one of the oldest lifeboat stations on the Welsh coast and across the years members have received a total of 70 awards for gallantry.

They then took a walk to the Holyhead Marine and Cafe Bar where they shook hands with people from local small businesses and organisations, including the coastguard and sea cadets.

Holyhead is only a half-hour drive from the four-bedroom farmhouse the prince and princess rented as newlyweds on the Isle of Anglesey, or Ynys Mon, between 2010 and 2013 when William was an RAF search and rescue helicopter pilot.

Having made their first home together in Wales is part of why they say they hold such a “deep affection” for the country.

It is also where they raised their eldest child, Prince George , for the first few months of his life.

William’s first royal engagement, aged eight, was to the Welsh capital of Cardiff with his mother, Diana, Princess of Wales.

After leaving Holyhead, they will travel to St Thomas Church in Swansea which has transformed over the last two years into a community hub.

The church now provides vital services to hundreds of people in the city such as a not-for-profit cafe and facilities for the homeless including food, showers and toilets.

William and Kate will get a chance to meet volunteers who work in the church’s food bank and the Swansea Baby Basics initiative, which distributes essential items such as toiletries and clothing to vulnerable mothers.

Kate has previously worked with baby banks and in 2020 brought together 19 British brands and retailers to donate over 10,000 new items to more than 40 such banks nationwide.

Both the princess and William will spend some time meeting members of the public gathered outside the church.

The last official visit the pair made to Wales was as Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to Cardiff Castle in June, where rehearsals for the Platinum Jubilee concert were taking place.

It was Prince George and his sister Princess Charlotte’s first official outing in the country and the family were greeted by hundreds of well-wishers.

The siblings will not be joining their parents on Tuesday’s visit as both will be in school.

William and Kate will now be making more regular visits to Wales as part of their roles as prince and princess, and are expected back in the country before Christmas.

However sources close to the couple have confirmed there are still no plans for an investiture ceremony.

When an investiture does take place, it is unlikely to reflect the scale of the ceremony held for the then Prince Charles at Caernarfon Castle in 1969, with William and Kate thought to want a more low key event.

A spokesperson for the prince and princess said: “Right now they are focused on deepening the trust and respect they have with the people of Wales over time.”

William and Kate have spoken of wanting to use their position to advocate for the people of Wales and showcase the country to the world.

In a statement, they said they would “do their part to support the aspirations of the Welsh people and to shine a spotlight on both the challenges and opportunities in front of them”.

Adding that they would serve as Prince and Princess of Wales “with humility and great respect”.

The move to make them Prince and Princess of Wales following the death of the Queen has caused some controversy, and a petition calling for the British monarchy to end the use of the title has so far gathered over 35,000 signatures.

Prince William and Kate Middleton made their first official visit to Wales with their newly minted titles. On Tuesday, the Prince and Princess of Wales held a series of engagements that saw them meeting with people in the community as well as learning about and visiting local charitable organizations.

The trip also marked the end of the official royal mourning period --  following the death of Queen Elizabeth II . William, 40, wore a smart blue suit for the occasion, while Kate, 40, wore a red coat over an all-black shirt-and-pants ensemble.

The prince and princess were greeted by well-wishers as they arrived in Anglesey, where they visited the RNLI Holyhead Lifeboat Station. William and Kate then showed up at Swansea, where they made a stop at St. Thomas Church, which was redeveloped and has become a food bank facility and a café for the unhoused.

The Prince and Princess of Wales met with volunteers who have devoted their time with Baby Banks, which is an organization that Kate last worked with in 2020.

Kate and William’s visit was met with various moments. One of the sweetest came when the Princess of Wales was gifted a small bouquet of flowers from a little boy.

The couple are no strangers to Wales. In 2011 as newlyweds, William and Kate moved to Anglesey, and continued to live there shortly after the birth of their first son, Prince George. During that period, William worked as a search and rescue helicopter pilot with the Royal Air Force.

A source close to the royals also tells ET that Wales is a special place for the prince. When William was eight, a then-Prince Charles and Princess Diana brought brought their son to the country for his first royal engagement.

The source adds that William and Kate will return to Wales before the year ends.

Since Queen Elizabeth’s funeral, William and Kate have undertaken a series of engagements. The trip to Wales comes almost a week after the pair paid a visit to Windsor Guildhall, where they thanked the staff who helped with the queen’s committal service , which was held on the grounds of Windsor Castle.

The Prince and Princess of Wales are set to visit the nation for the first time since they received their new titles after the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

Prince William and Kate Middleton will travel the length of Wales on Tuesday (27 September), starting their visit in Holyhead in Anglesey.

The couple, who were named the new Prince and Princess of Wales by King Charles III in the days after the Queen died, promised to visit the nation at the earliest opportunity after the mourning period.

The visit, along with other members of the royal family carrying out their respective duties, marks a return to normal life now that the late monarch has been laid to rest .

William and Kate will visit the local RNLI Lifeboat Station in Holyhead, where they will meet the crew, volunteers and some of those who have previously been rescued by the team.

It is one of the oldest lifeboat stations on the Welsh coast; members have received a total of 70 awards for gallantry throughout the years.

The royal couple will then walk to the Holyhead Marine and Café Bar where they will meet people from small businesses and organisations, including the coastguard and sea cadets.

The pair have close connections to Wales, having rented a four-bedroom farmhouse on the Isle of Anglesey, or Ynys Mon, between 2010 and 2013 when they were newlyweds.

At the time, William was an RAF search and rescue helicopter pilot. They also raised their eldest child Prince George there for the first few months of his life.

Wales being their first home is part of the reason William and Kate say they hold such “deep affection” for the country, but the prince’s connection goes much further.

His first royal engagement took place at the age of eight in Cardiff with his late mother, Diana, Princess of Wales.

The couple will travel to St Thomas Church in Swansea after leaving Holyhead, where they will meet volunteers who work in the church’s food bank and the Swansea Baby Basics initiative, which distributes essential items to vulnerable mothers.

They will also spend time greeting members of the public who will gather outside the church.

The last official visit William and Kate made to Wales was in June, when they visited Cardiff Castle while they were still the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

They attended rehearsals for the Queen’s platinum jubilee concert alongside their two eldest children, George and Princess Charlotte .

It marked the siblings’ first official outing in the country. However, they will not be joining their parents on Tuesday as they will both be in school.

Prince William Is Learning Welsh After Receiving New Title as Prince of Wales

prince william visit to swansea

By Emily Kirkpatrick

The Prince of Wales revealed this week that he's been brushing up on his Welsh in honor of his new role.

As the royal mourning period officially came to a close on Tuesday, Prince William and Princess Kate traveled to Wales, marking the first time they've visited the country since becoming the Prince and Princess of Wales following Queen Elizabeth's death . While there, the couple spoke with several locals, including Reverend Steven Bunting who hosted them during a visit to St. Thomas's Church in Swansea, which offers both a food bank and baby supplies to those in need. Reverend Bunting told People that he had a chat with William during which, “He talked about learning Welsh and shared some Welsh phrases he's trying to do.” He also revealed that the prince is currently working on the phrases “paned,” meaning a cup, and “bara brith,” which is a traditional Welsh tea bread.

Reverend Bunting added that the timing of the Prince and Princess of Wales's visit was especially significant to the locals as it came as soon as feasibly possible following the late monarch's passing. “He is throwing himself into the new role,” he said. “The fact that they've come straight here on day one says it all.” William and Kate also previously lived in the country when they were newlyweds in 2011. The Reverend gave the couple a tour of the church, showing them around the food bank that supports over 200 local citizens a week, as well as the Swansea Baby Basics that provides essential childcare supplies to people throughout the city. Of the visit, Reverend Bunting said, “It was remarkable. The Prince and Princess of Wales spoke to everyone in the building — young and old. They are clearly committed to listening to the stories of the people in Wales. They were incredibly interested in everybody.” He continued, “You try to stick to a certain plan, but they were having none of it. They were having none of it and wanted to speak to everyone.”

William also helped pack up some supplies at the food bank, and Kate did the same with the baby goods. Rachel Bunting , the wife of the reverend and mother of two-year-old Charlotte , who helped the princess pack up the care packages, enthused that the royal, “was fabulous. The kids all loved her. She doesn't talk down to them and can have a conversation — and they appreciate that.” She added, “She was asking about what would be helpful and what resources would be useful.” The Princess of Wales has been involved with the UK's baby bank network since the beginning of the pandemic when she brought a number of companies together to donate over 10,000 new items to over 40 organizations. “There were a few weeks when we were starting to really struggle because we weren't getting the things we needed,” Rachel explained. “But the toiletries that her initiative provided was a lifeline to those people. It made a huge difference.” She concluded, “We don't get royal visits here often and today made a massive difference. You can see kids everywhere and they're so excited. For them, they're probably the most approachable royals. It's been a massive boost.”

Prince William Gets the Secret Agent Treatment With Private MI6 Visit

Prince William Gets the Secret Agent Treatment With Private MI6 Visit

Prince William is getting the secret agent treatment.

On Thursday, June 13, the Prince of Wales, 41, made a visit to the MI6 headquarters in London, the details of which are being kept under wraps. His trip to the British Secret Intelligence Service is different than normal because royal family appearances at HQ are usually announced in advance — but this one didn’t go public until after he left.

News of William’s visit with the MI6 was publicized on Friday, June 14, when it was listed in the Court Circular. The daily report is a list of official royal family engagements that breaks down the events from the day prior.

“The Prince of Wales this afternoon visited the Secret Intelligence Service,” the Court Circular read, per The Telegraph . The publication also noted that Kensington Palace declined to offer any more information about William’s visit.

MI6 is the U.K.’s Secret Intelligence Service, which works primarily with foreign intelligence and protecting the nation from various risks abroad.

William has worked with MI6 on various occasions over the years. In 2019, he spent three weeks working with U.K.’s security and intelligence agencies.

“These agencies are full of people from everyday backgrounds doing the most extraordinary work to keep us safe,” William said in a statement at the time. “They work in secret, often not even able to tell their family and friends about the work they do or the stresses they face.”

William’s latest MI6 visit came shortly before the annual Trooping the Colour event on Saturday, June 15, which the Prince of Wales is set to attend. The Trooping the Colour takes place each year as a celebration of the monarch’s birthday.

As the royal family undergoes a health crisis — both King Charles III and Princess Kate Middleton have been diagnosed with cancer — William has been taking the reins when it comes to public appearances.

“I think it remains very positive that Prince William has really stepped up to the mark with the king being out of action for a few months,” royal photographer Samir Hussein told Us Weekly exclusively earlier this week , noting that William has “been through so much” lately.

“I think he’s done remarkably well in really, really trying circumstances,” Hussein added. “He’s still being himself on engagements, he’s still been joking when he meets with the public.”

Four years after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle sensationally closed the door on royal life, experts believe it’s “too late” for a royal reconciliation.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been kept at arm’s length from the palace ever since they launched a series of full-scale attacks on the royals.

And despite rumors of a possible reconciliation, former royal butler Grant Harrold believes that too much time has gone by for that to happen.

“I’ve always thought that Harry would have wanted to reach out to his family, whether it’s too late for that I don’t know,” he exclusively told The Post.

In perhaps the biggest indicator that a feud between the camps is still raging, Harry did not meet with any royals during his three-day trip to London last month.

Further displaying tensions, Markle snubbed the royal family by flying to London to meet her husband at Heathrow Airport and immediately jetting off to Nigeria together.

“Maybe there’s too much water under the bridge now, a lot of time has passed, trust has been broken, can that be repaired? Time will tell,” Harrold said on behalf of Spin Genie . “Actions speak louder than words.”

The Sussexes have also not seen cancer-stricken Kate Middleton since she revealed her diagnosis to the world in March.

Despite once being joined at the hip, Harry and the Princess of Wales, 42, no longer boast a friendship as tensions worsened following his revelations in “Spare.”

Still, while a reconciliation seems like a pipe dream, Harry is reportedly looking to buy a UK property so that he and his wife have a place to stay when visiting London.

Harrold this week told The Post that Harry’s rumored UK home search was spurred on after he “realized that he’s only got one family.”

The royal expert suggested that the couple are looking to revert to their “original idea” of splitting their time between the UK and the US.

After being evicted from Frogmore Cottage in June 2023, Harry and Meghan have not had a permanent place to stay on his home soil.

The pair currently reside in  their $14 million Montecito, Calif., mansion  with son Prince Archie and daughter Princess Lilibet.

As for this weekend, the pair haven’t been invited, for the second year in a row, to the Trooping the Colour festivities.

Prince William visits Cardiff to celebrate 'seaweed innovation'

The Prince of Wales visited Cardiff today to sample and celebrate one of the country's iconic products - seaweed.

Harvesting the plant is a Welsh tradition which dates back hundreds of years but the environmental benefits of farming the marine weed means there's a push for the industry to expand.

Entrepreneurs gathered at Cardiff Metropolitan University to discuss investment in the sector and display products based on what Derek Walker, future generations commissioner for Wales, dubbed "the superpower of seaweed".

Prince William spoke to Pierre Paslier, the co-founder of Notpla, which supplies seaweed packaging to major sporting and music venues across the country.

His Royal Highness picked up a seaweed-produced golf tee, made to biodegrade and fertilise greens.

When asked if he played golf, Mr Paslier said the royal replied: "No, the last time I played golf” and pointed to his head.

It was during his five years at Ludgrove school that William suffered a golfing accident which left him with his “Harry Potter” scar when a young boy.

Earlier on Tuesday, Kensington Palace had posted a picture of Prince William on social media along with a bilingual message, saying: "En route to Cardiff today to celebrate seaweed innovation".

The post added: "Seaweed is one of the most abundant resources on the planet, and it is a potential solution to some of the biggest environmental problems felt across the world."

Notpla is a former category winner in William’s Earthshot environmental prize and the prince has taken a keen interest in the business.

The firm’s seaweed-based products are supplied to Levy, a leading sports and entertainment caterer, and used in more than 50 venues from the Oval to Wimbledon’s All England Lawn Tennis Club and London’s O2 Arena.

Prince William launched the Earthshot environmental prize in 2021. Since then, the scheme has handed out £15million of prize money and sourced £50million of further support for 45 winners and finalists.

Prince William's Next International Trip Revealed — and It's Sooner Than You Think

The Prince of Wales is packing his bags for Germany

Prince William is heading abroad for one of his biggest passions.

On June 12, Kensington Palace confirmed that the Prince of Wales, 41, will travel to Germany next week for the UEFA EURO 2024 Group Stage match between England and Denmark on June 20. Prince William is president of the Football Association, the governing body of English soccer, and will attend the match at Frankfurt Arena.

The update comes two days after Prince William visited the England men's soccer team at St. George’s Park in Burton upon Trent to wish them luck at the UEFA EURO 2024 tournament, which kicks off in Germany on Friday. During the stop on June 10, he learned more about how the squad is preparing for the championship, presented jerseys to players and shared an encouraging word to hype them up.

"I think the biggest thing I've learned from coming and seeing you guys over the years... is the togetherness. I just want you guys to know how much it means to everyone back here, that you go out there, give it your all, play for share, play for each other, play for your country," William said in a video shared to X by Team England.

The heir to the throne (and loyal soccer fan ) also passed along some lighthearted advice from his kids Prince George , 10, Princess Charlotte , 9, and Prince Louis , 6, after he asked what he could tell the England team while driving them to school earlier in the day.

"The best bit of advice I got was to eat twice the amount you normally would eat!" Prince William told the athletes.

"So, I now have visions of you running around with massive great tummies. So maybe take my youngest’s advice with a pinch of salt, particularly around the physio team," he added, revealing that the tidbit came from Louis.

King Charles ' eldest son also showed off his soccer skills later in the day, kicking a ball during his tour of a soccer festival for local school children organized at St. George's Park in honor of the England men's team's participation in the UEFA EURO 2024 tournament.

Prince William's plans to travel to Germany will take him overseas for the second time in three weeks. On June 6, the Prince of Wales stepped out in Normandy, France on the 80th anniversary of the D-Day Landings, and significantly represented the British royals at the international commemorative ceremony at Omaha Beach. William joined over 25 heads of state, fellow European royals and veterans from around the world at the key ceremony to remember the sacrifices made on June 6, 1944; the massive military campaign cost around 10,000 lives and changed the course of World War II.

King Charles and Queen Camilla also traveled to France to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day, and attended the event at the British Normandy Memorial at Ver-sur-Mer with French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte.

William's upcoming trip is his latest solo engagement on the calendar as his wife Kate Middleton remains out of the spotlight. The Princess of Wales, 42, announced in March that she has cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy . She has maintained a low profile since then. She did not join him at the wedding of Hugh Grosvenor , the Duke of Westminster, in northern England on June 7.

During the U.K.'s national event commemorating the anniversary of D-Day, William gave an update on Kate when a veteran asked if she was " getting any better ."

"Yes," William said on June 5. "She'd have loved to be here today."

What is William's charity, the Earthshot Prize?

Prince William launched the Earthshot Prize in 2020. According to its website , it was innspired by President John F. Kennedy’s “Moonshot” challenge in 1962 to land a man on the moon within a decade.

The aim of the prize is to find game-changing innovations that will help repair the planet and it awards £1m to the innovators of the five best solutions each year so they can scale their work. William remains the president of the charity.

He said: “The Earth is at a tipping point. We face a stark choice: either we continue as we are and irreparably damage our planet, or we remember our unique power as humans and our continual ability to lead, innovate and problem-solve. People can achieve great things. The next ten years present us with one of our greatest tests – a decade of action to repair the Earth.”

Seaweed could be Wales’ new superpower, says commissioner

We've received more information about the event William is attending at Cardiff Metropolitan University today. Derek Walker, the Future Generations Commissioner for Wales, co-hosted the event along with William's environmental charity, the Earthshot Prize.

Called 'A Seaweed Future in Wales', it explored leading innovation in the seaweed industry and how more investment and support could develop a regenerative seaweed farming future for the nation.

Mr Walker, who has called for Welsh Government to set out a robust plan for growing a seaweed industry in Wales, said: "With a coastline of 1,680 miles and being surrounded by water on three sides, it seems obvious for Wales to be exploring the benefits of seaweed and a new blue economy.

“Like other nations all over the globe, we’re facing huge economic, environmental and health challenges and I’m excited about how investing in the cornerstone of one of our national dishes could bring multiple benefits, from green jobs to improving the food system, and supporting Wales and the world reduce the impacts of climate change.

“Having seen the results of some of the work happening in Wales already, I’m excited about the possibility of seaweed being Wales’ new superpower.”

Prince William makes surprise hush-hush visit to meet MI6 spies

Prince William has made a surprise visit to meet with spies at the Secret Intelligence Service.

The Prince of Wales met with the officials at the foreign intelligence service, also known as MI6 , which deals with and protects the UK from risks abroad, on Thursday afternoon.

The visit was not publicised in advance and only appeared afterwards in the Court Circular, the daily list of official royal engagements, which is published the next day.

The entry in the Court Circular read simply 'The Prince of Wales this afternoon visited the Secret Intelligence Service' with no location or additional details given.

It is not known whether the prince met MI6 boss Sir Richard Moore, codenamed 'C', or what was discussed during the engagement.

Kensington Palace declined to provide further information on the visit.

William, as the Duke of Cambridge, made a similar visit in 2022, just hours before Vladimir Putin launched a full invasion of Ukraine.

Again, the meeting was not publicised until the day after the meeting on February 24 although it was thought to have been long-planned.

No further details about the visit, including who he met and what was discussed, were revealed either.

It is not known whether the threat of war in Ukraine was discussed during the prince's visit to the headquarters.

The Duke also went to the MI6 headquarters in London with the now-Princess of Wales in 2012.

In 2019, he also spent three weeks working with MI5, MI6 and GCHQ to learn how the UK's security and intelligence agencies work.

'These agencies are full of people from everyday backgrounds doing the most extraordinary work to keep us safe,' he said at the time.

'They work in secret, often not even able to tell their family and friends about the work they do or the stresses they face.'

In March, MI6 launched a recruitment drive to hire more spies from black and Asian backgrounds.

The first black spy to give a live broadcast interview told BBC Radio 1Xtra that working for MI6 was more exciting than James Bond - the fictional MI6 spy who serves king and country.

The Prince of Wales will travel to Germany to cheer on England at the Euro 2024 tournament.

William will watch Gareth Southgate's side take on Denmark at the Frankfurt Arena on Thursday 20 June, Kensington Palace announced.

The heir-to-the-throne, who will celebrate his 42nd birthday the following day, is not expected to be accompanied by any other members of the Royal Family .

The Princess of Wales is currently away from public duties due to her ongoing cancer treatment - while the match comes on a school night for Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

William, who is president of the FA, faced criticism last year for not attending the women's World Cup final in Australia when England lost to Spain.

It was the first time the Lionesses had reached the final of a World Cup, and the first time an England football team had competed in a World Cup final since the men's side beat West Germany in 1966.
