Paramore Announce 2018 Australian Tour

By Tom Williams

The prophecy has finally been fulfilled — Paramore have finally announced a new Australian tour for 2018.

Returning down under for their first headline shows in four years, the Tennessee rockers — now with their original drummer Zac Farro back on the sticks — will be performing in arenas in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane come February, backed by their latest album After Laughter .

Support acts for the tour are yet to be announced, but you can catch all the tour dates and ticket details for Paramore’s 2018 Aussie jaunt down below.

Paramore previously toured Australia in 2014, after they performed as part of the now-defunct Soundwave Festival (RIP) in 2013. Today’s headline tour announcement also comes after former Soundwave promoter AJ Maddah said in August that Hayley Williams and company would be announcing their return to Australia “very soon” .

Now that it’s official, we can forget about the Hard Times and soak in a little Paramore magic.

Paramore Announce 2018 Australian East Coast Tour

paramore australia tour 2018

In support of their May-released fifth studio album,  After Laughter ,  Paramore  will head to Australia in 2018 for a headline tour of the country's east coast.

The Grammy Award-winning US trio will hit Down Under in early February for arena shows in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.

The Aussie headline gigs will be Paramore's first in four years.

After Laughter  was a hit across the globe, peaking at #3 on the ARIA Albums chart and #1 on the US Billboard Top Alternative Albums and Top Rock albums lists.

The tour announce could also rule Paramore out of the inaugural Download Festival Australian event , despite them being heavily tipped to be named on the line-up ( to be announced tomorrow ), given that the festival goes down a month later.

Tickets for the Australian headline dates go on sale from midday local time on Wednesday 15 November. See all of the dates and venues below.

After teasing fans about the prospect last week, Paramore have confirmed they’re heading to Australia on tour.

“G’day,” the beloved post-punk band posted on social media, alongside the date 6.27. A link was included which led to a special website, Paramore Down Under , which asked “why we gotta be in a rush?” On the website, fans are able to sign up with their email address to receive updates about the potential Aussie tour.

Paramore have announced five Australian dates and a stopover in New Zealand. They’ll perform in Auckland, Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne in November, supported by special guest Remi Wolf (see full dates below).

It will be the band’s first time in Australia since 2018. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Thursday, July 6th at staggered times (Auckland at 10am AEST/Brisbane at 11am AEST/Sydney at 12pm AEST/Melbourne at 1pm AEST).

The Frontier Members pre-sale begins on Monday, July 3rd, again at staggered times (Auckland at 10am AEST/Brisbane at 11am AEST/Sydney at 12pm AEST/Melbourne at 1pm AEST).

It’s been a busy year of touring so far for Paramore in 2023, taking in dates in South America and North America, while they joined Taylor Swift on The Eras Tour . Hayley Williams also memorably linked up with Foo Fighters at Bonnaroo earlier this month, performing a surprise rendition of “My Hero”.

Paramore are touring in support of their latest album, This Is Why , which they opened up a pair of pop-up stores in Sydney and Melbourne for in February.

This Is Why , their first album since 2017’s After Laughter , reached the top spot on the ARIA Albums Chart. The band’s sixth studio album was also a top five hit in the US and UK.

More Paramore

The anticipation has been high for Paramore ’s long-awaited Australian tour, and now, we finally have the tour dates.

The rumours began at the beginning of the month when a fan on Twitter met vocalist Hayley Williams and Brian O'Connor , the co-founder and Chief Innovation Officer of her hair dye company, Good Dye Young and asked if the band would be heading to Australia anytime soon, with Williams reportedly responding, “yes in November”. That was correct.

Two weeks later, the band began sending DMs to their biggest fans in Australia and New Zealand, asking, “What’s your address?” One of the fans who received said DM took to TikTok to share what she received after sending Paramore her address, which was a November Australia and New Zealand tour t-shirt and matching stickers. You can watch that TikTok here .

Last week, Paramore started officially teasing their first Australian tour since February 2018 . The US pop-punk legends posted a photo to their social media platforms with black text on a white background, stating, "6.27 – g’day." They also included a link to a mailing list:  paramoredownunder.com .

This November, the legends at Frontier Touring are bringing Paramore back to Australia for a run on the East Coast and a date in Auckland, New Zealand.

Paramore – Hayley Williams, Taylor York and Zac Farro , joined by special guest, Californian blues singer Remi Wolf , will head to Auckland’s Spark Arena on Saturday, 18 November, Brisbane Entertainment Centre on Wednesday, 22 November, and Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena on Monday 27 November.

Don't miss a beat with our FREE daily newsletter

They will also visit Sydney’s iconic Domain on Saturday, 25 November, performing to a GA audience for an extra special night of music under the stars and their biggest Australian headline show to date.

Paramore will donate a portion of all ticket sales to leading food rescue organisations   OzHarvest (Australia) and KiwiHarvest (New Zealand) to help reduce food waste and create lasting positive social change.

Paramore are touring in support of their excellent sixth album, This Is Why , which debuted atop the ARIA Albums Chart and Vinyl Albums Chart in its first week.

Paramore Announce Epic Australia Tour

  • June 27, 2023

Paramore, the Grammy Award-winning US trio consisting of Hayley Williams, Zac Farro, and Taylor York, will be making their way to Australia and New Zealand this November. This visit comes after their successful tour dates in 2018, during which they played sold-out shows along the East Coast.

Joined by special guest Remi Wolf, Paramore will be performing at Auckland’s Spark Arena on Saturday, November 18, followed by shows at Brisbane Entertainment Centre on Wednesday, November 22, and Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena on Monday, November 27. In addition, they will be visiting Sydney’s iconic Domain on Saturday, November 25, where they will be treating their fans to a special night of music under the stars. This will be their largest headline show in Australia to date.

Notably, a portion of the ticket sales for these shows will be donated to leading food rescue organizations, OzHarvest in Australia and KiwiHarvest in New Zealand. This initiative aims to reduce food waste and bring about positive social change.

For Frontier Members, pre-sale tickets will be available from Monday, July 3, starting at 10 am AEST. General public sales will begin on Thursday, July 6, also at 10 am AEST. Further details can be found at frontiertouring.com/paramore.

The band’s highly anticipated sixth studio album, “This Is Why,” was released in February and received tremendous support from fans and critics alike. It topped the charts in Australia and the UK. NME described it as “bold reminder of how limitless Paramore can be,” with Louder Sound declaring Paramore as “the most vital rock band of their generation.” This album showcases the trio’s fearless songwriting and marks their first full-length release since 2018. The title track earned them their first No.1 at US Alternative Radio and was voted the Hottest Record Of The Year by BBC Radio One listeners in the UK.

Currently touring across North America, Paramore has had an eventful start to 2023. They embarked on a South American tour in March, joined Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour for two nights in Arizona, played two sold-out shows at Madison Square Garden in June, and recently amazed crowds at Bonnaroo when Hayley Williams surprised everyone by joining Foo Fighters on stage for a rendition of ‘My Hero!’

Over the past few years, Paramore’s influence and popularity have grown exponentially. The age of streaming has propelled them into a position as one of the world’s biggest and most culturally significant rock bands. Originating from Tennessee as teenagers, the band has now become bona fide pop culture icons, inspiring a new generation of musical talent and leaving an indelible mark on the musical landscape.

About Paramore: Paramore – 4x GRAMMY® nominees and winner of the “Best Rock Song” trophy at the 57th Annual GRAMMY® Awards – have long established themselves as international rock superstars. Their new album, After Laughter , hit number one on Billboard’s U.S. Top Alternative Albums chart and the U.S. Top Rock Albums chart. Their previous self-titled album “PARAMORE” also made a chart topping debut atop the SoundScan/Billboard 200 upon its release marking Paramore’s first #1 album to date and featured two 2x RIAA platinum-certified hits, the top 10 “Still Into You” and the #1 smash, “Ain’t It Fun.” Paramore has had a truly remarkable run of RIAA certified albums and singles since coming together in Nashville in 2004, from 2005’s gold-certified debut, “ALL WE KNOW IS FALLING” and 2007’s 2x platinum-certified breakthrough, “RIOT!” (with its 3x platinum-certified hit, “Misery Business,” as well as the platinum-certified singles “crushcrushcrush” and “That’s What You Get”) to 2008’s worldwide platinum “Decode” (from Chop Shop/Atlantic’s chart-topping “TWILIGHT – ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK”) and 2009’s platinum-certified “brand new eyes” and its GRAMMY®-nominated smash, “The Only Exception.” Long regarded as an exhilarating live act, Paramore has spent much of the past decade-plus on the road, with highlights including sold out headline arena tours and show-stealing festival sets around the globe. Paramore has consistently drawn both critical acclaim as well as a wide ranging list of international honors and accolades, including a GRAMMY® Award, two People’s Choice Awards, three NME Awards, three MTV Video Music Award nominations, and much much more.

About Foster The People: Founded in 2009, Foster the People achieved success with the 2011 release of its debut album  Torches , which has sold nearly two million albums and over nine million singles worldwide.  Torches  features the #1 hit single “ Pumped Up Kicks ,” which was declared “the year’s anthem” by SPIN. Foster the People garnered three Grammy nominations for its monumental debut, including Best Alternative Album, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Pumped Up Kicks” and Best Short Form Music Video for “ Houdini .”  Supermodel  was the second full-length record from Foster the People. Influenced by frontman Mark Foster’s world travels and shifting perspective, the album was recorded in studios around the world and features fan favorites including “ Coming of Age ” and “ Best Friend .” The band’s third and latest album  Sacred Hearts Club , released in July 2017, is a 12-track effort that joyously flexes the group’s creative powers, fusing neo-psychedelia, punk, funk, electronic, dance and hip hop. Foster points to the polarized global climate as being a catalyst towards a more thoughtful approach on the album, inspiring them to make something that was joyful and unifying. The band’s current single “ Sit Next To Me ” was described as “pure shimmering pop” by the Associated Press, hit Top 5 at Alternative Radio and recently debuted on the Top 40 airplay chart.

As A Lifelong Paramore Fan, Seeing Viral TikToks Of Swifties Only Now Being Introduced To The Band Via The Eras Tour Is Making Me (More) Emo

Paramore is on the road with Taylor Swift all summer.

As if Taylor Swift ’s Eras Tour wasn’t already a dream of a stadium show for Swifties like me, it somehow got better. Right now, as part of Swift's list of projects , she's touring all over Europe this summer, she has been taking along my favorite band of all time, Paramore. So, as you can imagine, my FOMO is all over the place right now. I cannot even begin to comprehend seeing these two artists whose music practically raised me in the same evening. However, my emo heart can settle for all the love the pop-punk band is getting whilst being the biggest show on the road right now and getting discovered for the first time by so many people.

Look, I’ve grown up seeing Taylor Swift receive her fully merited flowers for her great talent and success in the music industry over the years. One can certainly argue the singer is the biggest artist in the world right now and an all-time great performer. Just look at her go the other night in Lyon, France... in the rain:

Taylor Swift performs at Groupama Stadium on June 02, 2024 in Lyon, France.

But on the other hand, right now it’s really satisfying to see Paramore get to share the Eras Tour stage with Taylor Swift night after night by opening the show. Swifties are taking notice of Paramore on the tour too, and it’s really warming my heart. Check this out:

Every Surprise Song Taylor Swift Plays On The Eras Tour

Because Taylor Swift’s draw is so huge, much bigger than that of Paramore, I just know that thousands of people have been experiencing my favorite band for the first time via the Eras Tour.

As someone who has gone to see Paramore live on multiple occasions, I can attest that there’s nothing quite like the stage presence its lead singer Hayley Williams and the band bring to the stage when they play their music. As Paramore tours with Swift, more people are taking to TikTok to give them love, like this fan:

@harleyseger ♬ original sound - Harley Seger

One especially major topic of discussion that has been shouted out about Paramore on the Eras Tour is how great of a vocalist Hayley Williams is. As a lifelong fan who has been shouting from the rooftops about how underrated she is when we talk about the best vocalists of our time, I appreciate that this video brings that to light:

@th3regoesmybaby ♬ original sound - Theregoesmybaby

When Paramore played at Lisbon, Portugal a couple of weeks ago, the crowd even gave the band a standing ovation after their set, which had Hayley Williams getting overwhelmed with emotion. Check it out:

Oh, and take a look at this video of the crowd absolutely living for “Still Into You.” It basically looks like a Paramore concert:

Here’s one more video. A young Swiftie even flagged down Hayley Williams after her set in Lyon, France to trade friendship bracelets. So, can we start adding Paramore lyrics to our lists of Eras Tour friendship bracelet ideas now?

Alright, I’m even more emo now!

Paramore will be part of the Eras tour until the end of Swift’s summer dates. You can enjoy Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour at home with the concert movie , which is now streaming with a Disney+ subscription . Though of course, since the release of The Tortured Poets Department , she has made some big changes to the set that’s currently touring that is worth trying to see live. Plus, if you can, you definitely want to check out Paramour live too!

Who is Taylor Swift’s support? All the acts performing at the UK Eras Tour

Taylor Swift’s Eras tour is no ordinary concert run – it’s earned more than a billion dollars , boosted the local economies of dozens of cities across the US, Latin America, Asia, Australia and continental Europe, and cemented her status as this generation’s biggest popstar.

Tonight, the 34-year-old pop behemoth will finally bring her three-hour extravaganza – in which she performs a selection of music from her 11 albums, also known as her “Eras” – to the UK. She will take to the stage at Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium at around 8pm, for the first of three sold-out nights in the Scottish capital, before heading to Anfield Stadium in Liverpool (13-15 June), Principality Stadium in Cardiff (18 June) and Wembley Stadium in London (21-23 June; 15-20 August).

However, Swift’s near-two decades of chart-toppers aren’t the only musical draws to the Eras tour. The starry support acts lure in their own fans – whether they’re newcomers in need of a publicity boost (Swift’s US openers, Gracie Abrams and Sabrina Carpenter, have both become stars in their own right since the tour began last year) or established award-winners (like Paramore or HAIM) – and promise to ramp up the energy long before Swift arrives on stage.

Paramore (all European and UK dates)

The Tennessee rockers may seem, at first glance, an odd choice for the primary opening act of the highest-grossing pop tour in history. But the band, who burst into the mainstream in the early Noughties with a run of deliciously rebellious, angst-ridden albums (2005’s All We Know is Falling, 2007’s Riot!), have a long history with Swift personally. Flame-haired frontwoman Hayley Williams, 35, is widely regarded as one of the most influential women in modern rock: Paramore have numerous Grammys, NME and MTV Awards, soundtracked the mega-successful Twilight films, and headlined Reading and Leeds festivals.

She’s also been friends with Swift since they were teenagers and coming up together in the Nashville music scene. Paramore’s influence is keenly felt in much of Swift’s work, from the pop-punk tinged Haunted or Better Than Revenge, on 2010’s Speak Now to upbeat poptimism on 2019’s Lover. After Paramore opened the Eras tour in Glendale, Arizona in March 2023, Williams featured on Castles Crumbling, a Vault track from Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) released last year – the pair have yet to perform it as a secret song. For the European leg, Swift even reportedly petitioned Williams to put Misery Business – Paramore’s pop-punk anthem that they stopped playing because of the “problematic” lyrics – back on the setlist. Paramore’s entertaining blend of rock instruments and pop beats is the perfect energiser for a tour that requires pure stamina.

Paramore’s current setlist for the Eras tour: Hard Times, Burning Down the House (Talking Heads cover), Still Into You, That’s What You Get, Running Out of Time, The Only Exception, Misery Business, Ain’t It Fun, This Is Why

Mette (Wembley Stadium, 21 June)

Swift has also announced additional support acts for her whopping eight shows at Wembley Stadium, starting with triple-threat Mette. The Minnesota-native has tried it all: as a dancer, she appeared in N.E.R.D. and Rihanna’s 2017 video for their hit song Lemon, before acting in Hustler, alongside Jennifer Lopez, and Greta Gerwig’s box-office smash Barbie, in which she played Video Girl Barbie. Her music career, meanwhile, has garnered her an Ivor Novello nomination (for Best Contemporary Song for Mama’s Eyes) and nod from Spotify as one of its Pop Rising Artists for 2024.

Song to look out for: Van Gogh, an infectious electro-ballad that is sure to get the crowd on their feet

Griff (Wembley Stadium, 22 June)

Named the Brit Rising Star in 2021, when she was just 20, Griff (real name Sarah Griffiths) is one of Britain’s most exciting rising talents. She’s spent the best few years touring with the megastar likes of Coldplay, Ed Sheeran and Dua Lipa, but she’s long been vocal about her adoration of Swift, and how much her music has meant to her. It makes for a wholesome full-circle story, one in which the world’s foremost popstar passes the baton on. Griff’s sound can be summed up as a hybrid of Swift’s emotional vulnerability with Lady Gaga’s infectious, dance floor-ready beats, and she’s also a terrific, energised live performer.

Song to look out for : Vertigo, which Swift herself applauded on Instagram; prepare to yell lines like “I’m used to fixing broken things before / I thought maybe I could change you”

Benson Boone (Wembley Stadium, 23 June)

Born and raised in Monroe, Washington, 21-year-old singer Benson Boone’s path to fame was a modern one: during the pandemic, the music he shared on TikTok went viral and he was consequently encouraged to audition for American Idol. He later withdrew, but his powerful voice and boyband good looks (and four million TikTok followers) led to him eventually signing with Nigh Street Records, owned by Imagine Dragons’ Dan Reynolds. Boone has had a run of hits since, including Beautiful Things, which recently topped the UK Singles Chart.

Song to look out for: Beautiful Things, the earworm chart-topper that set Boone up as the greatest threat to Harry Styles’s dominance over male pop music

Potential secret guests

Swift has brought a number of famous guests on stage to sing with her throughout the Eras tour – typically artists with feature credits on her songs. The National’s Aaron Dessner, who produced much of her lockdown albums Folklore and Evermore, appeared in Santa Clara, California, to perform melodic break-up ballad Right Where You Left Me. The National are in Europe throughout the summer for their own gigs and festival performances – including a Sunday night headline slot on the Other Stage at Glastonbury – so he could make a surprise appearance again.

Then there’s sister-indie trio HAIM, who are personal close friends with Swift and featured on No Body, No Crime. Other potential secret guests range from Lana Del Rey (who sang on Snow on the Beach, and is in the UK in August for Reading and Leeds festivals, so it could work), Ed Sheeran (Everything Has Changed), Jack Antonoff (Getaway Car and more) and Zayn Malik (I Don’t Wanna Live Forever).
