"We loved their chemistry; we loved how smart and feisty Lois was, and loved the heart and altruism of Reeve's Superman / Clark Kent. The movie was clever, fun, and modernized Superman in a way that felt organic to the time period, while also respectful of what came before. It truly is one of our favorite pieces of Superman media."

The story follows Clark as he builds his secret identity as Superman and explores his own mysterious origins. Lois, on her way to becoming a star reporter, teams up with photographer Jimmy Olsen to break the stories that matter. All the while, Clark and Lois are falling in love… as Lois gets closer and closer to uncovering his secret identity! Our trio share adventures, take down bad guys, stumble over secrets, and discover what it means to be heroes in their own right.

my journey with superman

Superman’s first headlining animated series in over two decades is just as super as the hero himself! My Adventures with Superman is an incredibly fun, smart and modernized spin on the classic DC Comics character. Deftly balancing the show’s inviting cast with its equally compelling plots and great action beats, this legit cool cartoon soars in every sense of the word. Packed with heart, great stories and set pieces, and one intriguing hook after another, My Adventures with Superman is the Man of Tomorrow as his joyful best.

A serialized coming-of-age story, My Adventures with Superman follows the adventures of Clark Kent (Jack Quaid), Lois Lane (Alice Lee), and Jimmy Olsen (Ishmel Sahid) as they begin making their mark as an investigative reporting team at the Daily Planet. At the same time, Clark starts to build his secret identity as Superman and explore his own mysterious origins, while also falling in love with Lois. And if that wasn’t enough, a mysterious force behind-the-scenes is making trouble for our intrepid trio!

As usual, spoilers will be kept as light as possible, though some specific details will be covered in this review.

Packed with plenty of heart and anime-inspired visuals and designs, My Adventures with Superman is a fresh, slick reinvention of comic’s first super hero, one brimming with hope and optimism that dutifully builds up its characters and puts some intriguing problems in their path. It’s refreshing to see a take on the Man of Steel that isn’t drenched in depressing visuals and forced melancholy, but instead light and cheer. Superman may struggle with himself here, but it’s all part of the journey and not the sole focus.

Without question, there’s an immense amount of love from the creative team for Superman, his supporting cast and his world, but that doesn’t preclude said creators from introducing some tantalizing new ideas. My Adventures with Superman , right from the opening scene, is clearly setting up a unique take on the Man of Steel. And, as the series gets deeper into its first season, uses that train of thought to create some of the show’s biggest mysteries and genuine surprises. There’s impressive world-building abounds throughout the show’s first season that pulls you right in, all carefully constructed as each episode easily flows into the next and all clearly leading to a specific end goal.

my journey with superman

My Adventures with Superman not only shows that no aspect of Superman’s history is out of bounds here, especially given the clear Silver Age-esque influence to some of the season’s characters, but also that it’s willing to mix things up quite substantially. While fans will see plenty of familiar faces from the Superman mythos and the DC Comics universe (and from outside the comics, as well), they don’t always take the role you’d expect. Some well-known characters get a pretty noticeable makeover, or pretty big tweaks to their backstory, along with others popping up who are a complete surprise. Suffice it so say, My Adventures with Superman keeps you on your toes.

My Adventures with Superman also shines when it comes to animation. While it may slip and stutter on occasion, overall it looks gorgeous. The anime-inspired designs and bright color palette further establish this series’ unique take on the super-mythos. Not every redesign works, admittedly, but the majority are slick and smart tweaks. There’s also a wealth of references and homages to well-known anime projects like Dragon Ball , Sailor Moon , Neon Genesis Evangelion , among a plethora of others. The style might take a little bit to get used to for some, since it’s so different then how Superman has been previously portrayed in animation, but it quickly ends up adding to the show’s overall charm.

The quality of animation by Studio Mir is also pretty strong, adding flair to the set pieces and nailing the show’s multitude of humourous and heavy character moments. The only real shortcoming here is the occasional use of CG, primarily for vehicles and robots and the like, which don’t quite gel with the overall look of the show. Thankfully this doesn’t really take away from the show’s quality in any real substantial way, as it’s an occasional distraction more than anything.

When it comes to the voice acting, My Adventures with Superman is nearly an embarrassment of riches. Leading the cast is Jack Quaid as Clark Kent/Superman, and he perfectly brings the lovably dorky and inexperienced hero to life. He brings a soft touch to Clark, here starting to learn about his mysterious origins and unsure of his place in the world, while also juggling his relationships with Lois and Jimmy.

my journey with superman

Make no mistake, while there is plenty of high-stakes super-action to be found in My Adventures with Superman , the cartoon also refreshingly spends a lot of time with our main trio at The Daily Planet. When they’re not butting heads with an exasperated Perry White (played by Darrell Brown), they’re tracking down leads and doing the legwork to get to the truth. Watching the trio break down a story, figuring out all the clues and putting in the work, can be pretty exhilarating to watch (and something we haven’t gotten too much time with in other assorted takes on Superman).

It’s also thrilling to how everything comes together at the end of season one. Not only does My Adventures with Superman take some surprising turns as it heads toward those final first season episodes, keeping viewers on their toes, but it absolutely sticks the landing. No spoilers, of course, but the answers are satisfying and will clearly leads to some major ramifications for the show’s second season. The creators take some big risks with the established Superman lore, and it pays off with a fascinating (and unexpected) potential direction for season two.

Gene Vassilaros, the voice director, pulls out some fantastic performances, and not just from the main trio but from the entire My Adventures with Superman cast at large. Everyone sounds … right. Also bang-on is My Adventures with Superman ‘s score work, led by Dominic Lewis and Daniel Futcher. Whether it’s bringing the right soft touch to the show’s character-driven moments, an ominous vibe when diving into Superman’s mysterious backstory, or a hard edge to the show’s multitude of set pieces, the duo never miss a beat (pardon the pun). The show’s theme song, “Up and Away ( My Adventures with Superman Theme),” written and performed by Kyle Troop and the Heretics, is a pure banger through-and-through, as well.

My Adventures with Superman is a fantastic example of how to create a new spin on an established property without losing or forgetting what’s made these characters work for decades. Whether a long-time fan or new to Metropolis, or somewhere in-between, this series truly works for all audiences, regardless of your knowledge on the Man of Steel. It’s impossible not to get pulled in by the series’ eclectic cast, charm and wit.

Genuine and gorgeous, My Adventures with Superman offers an inspired spin on the world’s greatest super-hero that undeniably stays true to the super-mythos’ core. Balancing action and character work to near-perfection, and packed with an abundance of heart, laughs and beautiful visuals, the creators behind this series have truly created one of the best, brightest interpretations of the Man of Tomorrow to date, and one that deserves to soar for years to come. Do Not Miss It!

Oh! Be sure to stick around during the end credits of each episode to see some surprises from Jimmy’s camera roll! Note: The above review originally covered the first seven episodes of season one, but was later updated to cover the entire season. REVIEW: ‘My Adventures With Superman’ Season 2 Episode 4 — “Two Lanes Diverged”

O ne of the most potent running themes of the series returns in full force in My Adventures with Superman Season 2 Episode 4 . Throughout season one , Clark ( Jack Quaid ) deals with the emotional crisis of feeling torn between two worlds. Alienated and worried about his ability to seem human , so much of the first season drama stems from his desire to fit in.

While some of these insecurities resolve once Lois ( Alice Lee ) and Jimmy ( Ishmel Sahid ) are in the know, it’s nice that the series refuses to let it be a closed case. Naturally, this version of Clark is still battling those inner demons as he tries to come to terms with himself, and “Two Lanes Diverged” beautifully captures his experience.

But it’s not just Clark who gets to go through the emotional ringer. My Adventures with Superman Season 2 Episode 4 splits itself into two parts. In one, Lois follows her dad, Sam Lane (The General), as he works to devise escape routes from Metropolis. Lois can track him and learn about his plans, which infuriates her. She doesn’t understand why he thinks he needs to leave after they’ve just been able to spend time together again. But he sees his presence as a risk.

Their interactions lend themselves to flashbacks as we see how Sam parented and Lois acquired her survivor instincts. Sam teaches Lois how to always find him through training simulations in the woods. It’s all that she knows, her childhood marred by the grief of losing her mother and the upheaval of having to move for her dad’s work. However, through these training exercises, she at least knows how to find her dad, even if he makes it needlessly difficult for her. The flashbacks are well-executed as we traverse her emotional journey through adolescence and realize how his absence built her into who she is. She’s a fighter and a survivor, but at what cost?

It makes the bittersweet ending all the more tough to swallow. Because while we don’t trust that Sam will stay, Lois does. And it’s their final interaction that manages to hurt Clark, too. Already mentally bruised, he hears only a section of a conversation that hurts him, with Lois calling him strange. Usually, this time of unnecessary confusion would be frustrating, as we all but beg characters to sit still for a longer time to hear the whole truth. However, considering Clark is already suffering from his interactions with Jimmy and Lex Luthor, it makes sense why he wouldn’t sit around. That said, the seasonal trend of piling up problems caused by miscommunication continues. Just talk it out.

Unfortunately, there’s no real misunderstanding on the Jimmy and Clark side of the story. Jimmy has been invited to speak at an event due to the success of Flamebird, and he drags Clark along with him. Their friendship gets the spotlight as Clark tells him that Jimmy has saved Clark/Superman numerous times throughout knowing one another, the biggest save being Jimmy being his friend. That camaraderie is and was everything to Clark, who, as seen, tends to worry about how others perceive him.

Their love for one another is truly sweet and well-captured, and again, it makes the final blow all the more disheartening. Following a talk where Lex tries to eviscerate Superman’s public persona, the event is attacked, fueling even greater ammunition to Lex’s cause. In the final moments, Lex thanks Jimmy for pushing him into taking on his own company, and Clark is crestfallen, worried that Jimmy, too, thinks that Superman poses some sort of threat.

We know it’s not true, but My Adventures with Superman Season 2 Episode 4 does a fantastic job selling just how easy it is to make Superman vulnerable. Not through his strength or fortitude but in his spirit. Because without people around him to help rally, his isolation is toxic. The animation captures this otherworldy sensation of being separate beautifully, with Clark set against the night sky, powerful but alone. For a character so associated with the sun, it’s interesting to see him at his lowest while taking in the light of the moon, so heavy in the background.

All of this pushes Clark into taking the plunge and finding his cousin, Kara. He doesn’t want to be alone anymore. With the Kyrptonians gone and Clart no longer able to communicate with his father, this is Clark’s only chance to speak to his kind. It’s the perfect place to set up the middle half of the season, especially with the ominous shot of Brainiac seemingly making it closer to his descent to Earth.

My Adventures with Superman Season 2 Episode 4 is a reflective episode that highlights the ongoing insecurities of these characters. While they’ve all grown, there’s room for improvement and pockets of past wounds that make them who they are. The series’ strength is remembering that this version of Superman is still green to the heroics and accepting his true nature. And ironically, it’s this that makes him so devastatingly human as he strives to obtain something he’s always yearned for.

My Adventures with Superman Season 2 airs weekly on Toonami on Saturdays at midnight and arrives on Max the next day.

My Adventures With Superman #1

Comic Books

‘my adventures with superman’ #1 is perfect for fans of the show and newcomers alike.

Balances action, humor and romance with almost superhuman ease.

my journey with superman

As a comic book fan, I hold on to a certain set of truths. One of those truths is that the superhero genre and animation are a match made in heaven, and the past few years have only backed that up with shows including Invincible, X-Men ’97 and My Adventures With Superman . That last one stands out for how it manages to put a fresh spin on the Man of Steel’s origin, as well as his friendship with Jimmy Olsen and budding romance with Lois Lane. My Adventures With Superman now also follows in the footsteps of its predecessors by having a tie-in comic…and a really good one at that.

Taking place between Seasons 1 and 2, My Adventures With Superman #1 finds Christmas coming to Metropolis…and Clark Kent feeling lonely, as this will be the first Christmas he’s spent away from Smallville. While Lois and Jimmy plan to give Clark a Christmas he won’t forget, Superman winds up battling a menacing android that has the ability to replicate his powers. But this android may not be the menace that Superman thinks it is…

DC fans have probably pegged that this android is none other than Amazo; the android’s creator Doctor Ivo previously appeared in Season 1 of My Adventures With Superman. What makes this version of Amazo different – and honestly, more compelling – is the fact that he feels less like an engine of destruction and more like a lost child. It serves as a great parallel to Clark’s journey. Even though Clark is now Superman, he’s still trying to figure his place in the world and where Lois fits into that.

It helps that My Adventures With Superman #1 is written by showrunner Josie Campbell. You can’t get much more accurate than having someone who actually worked on the show writing this comic, and Campbell nails the Clark/Lois/Jimmy dynamic perfectly. Clark is still every bit the Boy Scout, Lois the intrepid reporter, and Jimmy is still a show stealer. She even brings up plot threads from Season 1, such as the lingering presence of Task Force X and Lois’s father attempting to kill Superman.

Pablo M. Collar manages to perfectly capture the anime-esque flair of the show with his art, especially in the way Superman and Amazo fight. The two zip across Metropolis, leaving blue-red and purple streaks in their wake respectively, and their blows land with the kind of force you’d expect from an episode of Dragon Ball Z . Collar’s facial expressions for characters have a bit of hilarity to them – case in point, when Clark is waxing poetic about Christmas in Smallville, his co-workers (particularly Cat Grant) look less than enthused. All of it is rendered in rich, vibrant color by Nick Filardi, with special attention paid to Superman’s iconic costume.

My Adventures With Superman #1 is a book I’d recommend to fans of the animated series, longtime Superman fans, and newcomers to the world of comics. It taps into the spirit of its source material, balancing action, humor and romance with almost superhuman ease.

  • Clark Kent struggles with dual identities as a journalist and Superman, facing public backlash and betrayal.
  • Lex Luthor manipulates the public against Superman, setting up a strategic alliance to take down the hero.
  • General Zod's arrival threatens to lure Clark and Supergirl to his side, creating a dynamic emotional conflict.

The following contains spoilers for My Adventures with Superman Season 2, Episode 4, "Two Lanes Diverged," which debuted Jun. 7 on Adult Swim.

In My Adventures with Superman Season 2, Jack Quaid's Clark Kent is slowly realizing that maybe he bit off more than he could chew. Season 1 found Clark moving to Metropolis to be a journalist. Little did he know, he'd unlock his powers and end up dating Lois Lane. He didn't mind trying to lead a double life.

There are now complicated matters at work, as Lois and Jimmy have to scramble to cover up Clark's identity. The new season also finds Lois and Clark going through more personal issues as a couple. Clark wants to locate his cousin, Supergirl , but Lois thinks having more aliens around wouldn't be a good thing. As Clark becomes increasingly disillusioned by his relationships, there is an intriguing arc being set up that could mend one of Zack Snyder's strongest ideas from 2013's Man of Steel .

My Adventures with Superman Alienates Clark Kent

My adventures with superman could finally give an iconic teen titans hero his due.

My Adventures with Superman Season 2 references an iconic Teen Titans hero, and introducing them into the show can elevate their story in a major way.

There's no question the Man of Steel loves Earth. He feels this planet is his true home after being raised by Jonathan and Martha Kent on their Smallville farm. It's why he will do whatever it takes to defend it, even if it means going up against his own Kryptonians. Clark proved as much in Season 1. In My Adventures with Superman Season 2, he explained to Jor-El about his humanity being important in life.

Still, despite how he identifies, Clark will always be a child of two worlds, with Earth prevailing as the anchor of his formative years. In Episode 4, "Two Lanes Diverged," Clark finds himself feeling alienated. It happens with Jimmy Olsen at a STAR Labs symposium, with Clark having to fight the Suicide Squad. In the aftermath, the public lashes out at Superman for the carnage, and Jimmy abandons Clark by running away. This stuns the Kryptonian.

The Pentagon, other military arms, and scientists like Hank Henshaw band together to take Superman down. This shows how easily people can be persuaded. This plays on many arcs in comics where Marvel and DC characters are hated due to media spins, public perceptions and quick moments of politics. Superman flies off, wondering what he did to deserve this betrayal. All he has ever done was selflessly look after everyone, only for his kindness to be ignored .

My Adventures with Superman's Lex Luthor Got Justification For His Sinister Plan

My adventures with superman's steel and amertek, explained.

My Adventures with Superman Season 2 adds an intriguing new twist regarding how Steel and Amertek are brought into the Man of Steel's life.

The person who vilifies Clark Kent the most amid the chaos is My Adventures with Superman's Lex Luthor . He spots the opportunity and pounces to denigrate Superman's name, even though he's already working with Waller's Task Force X. This proves how adaptable Lex is, improvising in the blink of an eye after his speech at the symposium. Lex talked about the "Superman Project," which is essentially a xenophobic campaign. It plays on the idea of refugees and immigrants, and how many developed countries don't want them.

Some actually actively campaign to get rid of them. Lex uses the collateral damage to point out how Superman is a public risk . This links to the liability angle from Zack Snyder's Man of Steel , when Superman wrecked Metropolis fighting General Zod . It was an arc that had fans thinking this was a careless Superman. By Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice , Ben Affleck's Bruce Wayne tried to kill Henry Cavill's Clark for all the mass casualties and the recklessness of old. In My Adventures with Superman , Lex speaks about the power of a god the same way Affleck's Batman did.

Such a being cannot go unchecked and more like him cannot come to Earth. They might be heroes today, but if they turn against the planet, it will be too late to stop them. Lex uses his forked tongue to build his alliance. They play into his hands by promising to give him and Waller whatever they need. Superman's worst nightmare has come to life, and they have an excuse: homeland security . They can now keep pushing the narrative to turn everyone against the hero.

This development also creates a more strategic Lex. Jesse Eisenberg's Lex had a similar vibe and purpose in the DCEU, but he got caught up in his god complex. Snyder also didn't properly map out his Lex, with Eisenberg's depiction feeling kooky and aloof, versus someone who wanted to safeguard the planet. This Lex has a tactical edge to him after Jimmy once told him to break barriers and follow his dreams. Lex thinks he is the hero of the story, vowing that Earth is "safe" under his watch.

My Adventures with Superman's General Zod Has Arrived

My adventures with superman unveils sneak peek at steel's arrival.

Steel has arrived in a new sneak peek clip for My Adventures with Superman.

"Two Lanes Diverged," ends by disproving Lex's sense of security. General Zod is seen looming outside Earth's orbit. As this armored villain hovers, fans will recall that this very being said at the end of Season 1 that Earth had to "kneel." If Zod does emerge and tries to lure Clark over to his side, he might have a proper angle this time. Clark also thinks Lois isn't genuine after misconstruing a conversation she had with her father, General Sam Lane . He activates his beacon to find Kara. This sets both of them up to be offered a deal by Zod. If Kara hasn't spent much time assimilating into society, she might take up the offer. Should Clark does refuse a deal, however, this would create massive problems.

Clark wouldn't want Supergirl to be led by a self-serving Kryptonian general as this could give Zod his ultimate weapon. The DCEU wanted Zod to partner with Kal-El, but it feels like a naive, vulnerable Supergirl is more poised to become this instrument when she debuts . It's a development that feels more organic, whereas it will always be hard to see any version of Clark rebuking Earth and allying with Zod. Kara, however, is a different story. She may not have the compassion for a planet that hates her people. Once she sees what Lex and the military are about, she won't want to defend Earth. Clark will now have to worry about Lex, as well as this new Kryptonian movement. It creates a more dynamic, emotional story compared to the DCEU.

It's very understandable and relatable on both sides. Kara would want to be around family, while Lex and Waller's team would be justified in thinking havoc is the only thing that will follow these aliens wherever they go. At that point, Clark will get caught in the crossfire, wondering which side to choose. There will be logic to Zod's deal, after all. Clark can stand with Earth and alienate his people, or he could join Zod and try to educate the warrior and Kara on diplomacy and ambassadorship. But with the jury out on whether Zod's movement wants to share a planet or conquer it, it's going to be very unpredictable. Either way, this entire debacle adds nuance to the show. It feels more thought-out and meaningful than what Snyder attempted.

Snyder's idea wasn't actually bad, but the execution was rushed and fell short of the mark . His version of Superman had no reason to entertain Zod, but My Adventures With Superman's Clark and the lost Kara do. Season 2 of My Adventures with Superman develops all these characters, their motivations and the landscape better. It comprehensively maps out the pulse of the public, the aliens involved, and the military to stitch together a very important trifecta with Superman in the middle. All eyes will be on how Clark makes his decision when the time comes and if Kara follows suit. Hopefully, these will be meticulous, calculated choices that cater for all other parties being wildcards in a presumable fight for territory to come.

Editor's Note: The following includes spoilers for 'My Adventures With Superman' Season 2, Episode 3.

The Big Picture

  • The latest episode of My Adventures With Superman introduces iconic Superman ally John Henry Irons.
  • Clark's humility and mutual respect with John highlight the series' younger take on building its own DC Universe.
  • The show could be setting up its own Justice League with the possible addition of Kara and other crime fighters.

My Adventures With Superman may follow a young Clark Kent ( Jack Quaid ) who is still new to his crime fighting career, but that hasn’t stopped the animated series from quickly building its own complex version of the DC Universe. Season 1 pitted Clark against notable DC Comics foes like Parasite ( Jake Green ), Amanda Waller ( Debra Wilson ), and Task Force X, and Season 2 has continued to expand the world. But while that means even more potential foes for the Last Son of Krypton to face, the latest episode also introduced one of his most iconic allies .

My Adventures With Superman

Clark Kent builds his secret Superman identity and embraces his role as the hero of Metropolis, while sharing adventures and falling in love with Lois, a star investigative journalist, who also takes Jimmy Olsen under her wing.

Who Is 'My Adventures With Superman's John Henry Irons?

In Season 2, Episode 3, “Fullmetal Scientist,” Clark rescues scientist Silas Stone ( Byron Marc Newsome ) from a fire. After Jimmy Olsen’s ( Ishmel Sahid ) journalist intern, Flip ( Azuri Hardy-Jones ), receives a tip about killer robots, she goes missing. Clark and Jimmy track her to an apartment, where Flip’s uncle and Stone’s partner, John Henry Irons (Newsome), is living. Flip’s real name is revealed to be Natasha. John reveals that he called in the tip. He explains that his and Silas’ boss at AmerTek forced them to rush production on a line of robots known as Metallos and a fusion reactor, leading the scientists to go into hiding and John to become concerned about a possible threat to public safety .

Created by Louise Simonson and Jon Bogdanove , John Henry Irons first appeared in The Adventures of Superman #500 in 1993. He was an engineer for AmerTek Industries until a weapon he designed for the company was used to kill innocent people. When the company refused to allow him to quit, John faked his death and moved to Metropolis. While working in construction, he saved a co-worker from a fall only to fall off the building they were working on himself. John was caught by Superman and when he asked how he could repay the hero, Superman simply told him to, “live a life worth saving.” In the iconic “Death of Superman” story arc, John bravely took up a sledgehammer, preparing to help Superman in his battle with Doomsday before being buried in rubble.

After Superman’s death and his own recovery, John discovers Metropolis street gangs are using modified versions of the cannon he left AmerTek over. He designs a high-tech suit of armor and works to end the ensuing gang war, get the weapons off the street, and defeat their distributor, a former lover and co-worker of his, Angora Lapin. In the subsequent “Reign of the Supermen” story arc, John continues to fight crime as one of the four titular replacements for Superman . Each of the four were referred to by nicknames previously used for Superman himself, with John being known as the Man of Steel. His similarly outstanding morals briefly lead Lois Lane to believe that he is inhabited by Superman’s soul, though she later concludes that he is the only one of the four who can’t possibly be Superman, despite best representing his values. When Superman is resurrected, John works with him, Superboy, and Supergirl to defeat the Cyborg Superman and alien warlord Mongul, who had recently destroyed Green Lantern Hal Jordan’s hometown of Coast City.

Steel Has Appeared Alone and in Other Superman Stories

After getting his full powers restored, Superman encourages John and Superboy to continue working as superheroes, suggesting the former go by the shortened name “Steel.” John became a popular DC icon in his own right , appearing in both his own solo comics and crossovers. In addition to his armor, as Steel he wields a large sledgehammer, in reference to John Henry, the African American folk hero he was named after. In later comics, Natasha, who shares her uncle’s skill and interest in engineering, also becomes a superhero, with the pair sharing the name Steel. John has also become a fixture in DC adaptations in other media. Basketball icon Shaquille O’Neal played the character in the famously maligned live-action film Steel , while Wolé Parks has brought a much more well received iteration to the ongoing CW series Superman and Lois .

'My Adventures With Superman' Nails This Aspect of Any Great Man of Steel Adaptation

Superman would be nothing without this.

My Adventures With Superman ’s approach to introducing John highlights the clever way the series is going about building a streamlined DC Universe. Having Flip turn out to be Natasha both sets her up to continue playing an important role in the series while ensuring that John is immediately connected to the main cast. Clark’s starstruck reaction to John, due to the latter’s altruistic work in the community, highlights Clark’s charming humility while adapting the vast mutual respect he and John have for each other in the comics in a way that is fitting for the series’ younger take on the former character. The large, maskless design of the initial version of the Steel suit John wears in the episode’s finale also more closely resembles the so-called “Lexosuit” worn by Lex Luthor in many comic book stories, which makes sense, as Lex ( Max Mittleman ) buys AmerTek and takes possession of both the suit and the Metallos at the end of the episode. This sets Lex up to be a physical threat to Clark in addition to an intellectual one, while also paving the way for John to design a more comic-accurate version of his armor if he continues to fight crime.

'My Adventures With Superman' Could Be Building Its Own Justice League

Natasha is probably too young to make a believable superhero, as is Silas' briefly mentioned son, who fans know will eventually become Teen Titan and Justice Leaguer Cyborg, but it seems increasingly likely that more crime fighters could be joining Clark and John sooner than later. The season premiere reveals that Clark's biological cousin, Kara ( Kiana Madeira ), is also on Earth, and though the character hasn’t been properly introduced yet, promotional material for the season does show her in a version of her Supergirl costume. The series could even form its own unique iteration of the Justice League ; Clark could certainly use the help, given that Lex has allied with Waller and Task Force X, in addition to the looming threats of Kryptonian villains Brainiac ( Michael Emerson ) and, possibly, General Zod, teased at the end of the first season.

Wendell Pierce revealed on X that an apartment owner recently denied his request for an apartment in Harlem, N.Y. despite his rock-solid income from various film and television roles over the last year and change. Pierce alleged that his application was rejected due to racism.

Pierce, best known for his portrayal of Detective Bunk Moreland in HBO’s “The Wire,” is playing Perry White in James Gunn’s new DC Universe, starting with the 2025 theatrical release of “Superman” (formerly “Superman: Legacy”). Gunn has been filming the comic book movie in Atlanta.

The day after Pierce told his story about being rejected for an apartment, he shared a story from The Wall Street Journal on social media that covered an appeals court blocking an Atlanta-based investment firm from running a grant program for Black women.

“This is an act of institutionalized racism by the courts not seen in years,” Pierce wrote. “A stealth act of bigotry in the shadows.”

He elaborated on the topic in an interview with The Daily Beast : “It makes me sick motherfucker how far you will go to destroy our ability to live our lives in peace and prosperity. Attacked in schools, attacked by police, attacked for expecting to live the stated values of this country, and attacked when successful in business. We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal. For generations we have embraced that lie as the violence against our community proves otherwise. It’s getting harder to stay in denial, America.”

  • Bloodsport makes a surprise appearance in My Adventures with Superman, posing a potential threat to Clark and his friends.
  • The tie-in series introduces a modern take on Superman's early days, focusing on his bond with Lois and Jimmy as they face new challenges.
  • Fans may recognize Bloodsport from the films, where he once shot Superman with kryptonite - a dangerous possibility in this new story.

Warning! Spoilers for My Adventures with Superman #1 ahead! A fan-favorite character infamously portrayed by Idris Elba is now canon in My Adventures with Superman . DC Comics has expanded the beloved animated series' world with a new tie-in series that bridges its first and second seasons. This new story introduces an ominous character that could turn out to be a huge threat to Superman in the future.

In My Adventures with Superman #1 by Josie Campbell and Pablo M. Collar, Clark, Lois, and Jimmy notice something is running amok in Metropolis. They track it through the sewers and discover that one of Anthony Ivo's prototypes has gotten loose after becoming sentient.

Superman fights the armor, but it's eventually brought down and collected by a mysterious sharpshooter. The man tells Superman that the military has it from here and vaguely threatens Clark's friends to get him to comply. From a distance, Amanda Waller talks to her enforcer Slade Wilson, who recognizes the sharpshooter as a man named 'DuBois'.

My Adventures with Superman Has Subtly Introduced Bloodsport

My Adventures with Superman is a modern reinvention of the Man of Steel's mythos that focuses on the early days of Clark's heroic career and his bond with his closest friends, Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen. The first season saw Clark officially reveal himself to the world and use his powers for good after he discovered it was besieged by threats such as Livewire and Intergang, not to mention Amanda Waller and Task Force X. However, even with all these threats around him, Superman has risen to the challenge and become the hero that Metropolis needs .

To be fair, the man who shoots the prototype armor isn't called by his codename from the comics. But as a sharpshooter named DuBois serving as a foil to Superman, it's pretty obvious that he's supposed to be Bloodsport. Fans may recall Bloodsport was infamously portrayed by Idris Elba in the 2021 film The Suicide Squad . But even more importantly, Robert DuBois is best known for once shooting the Man of Steel with a kryptonite bullet in their first fight. DuBois' presence in the My Adventures with Superman universe could prove to be a serious threat to Clark.

Is Bloodsport Going to Repeat His Most Infamous Attack on Superman?

Thankfully for Clark, kryptonite is pretty rare in the animated series and only small slivers have been found. However, with Superman becoming more and more powerful, his enemies are searching for more effective ways to deal with him. DuBois has already proven he's just as good a shot in this universe as he is in other adaptations. All it would take is a little bit of kryptonite and Bloodsport could easily take Superman out before he ever sees it coming. Hopefully, Clark will be prepared the next time he encounters Bloodsport in My Adventures with Superman .

My Adventures with Superman #1 is available now from DC Comics.
