Good cruise

Overall, good cruise. I would cruise the Norwegian again!

First Timers!

May 31st, 2024

Overall, we are very happy with the cruise and can't wait to book another. Norwegian was definitely the best choice for us! Since it was our first cruise, we got a FREE UB unlimited beverage package which is like $1200 for 2 people! Lucky for them, we aren't huge partiers! it was gorgeous, the trip was smoothe, the staff was amazing, and the boat was very clean

Wonderful cruise

May 19th, 2024

Overall, our cruise was enjoyable and the service was impeccable. There were a few items that I would like to mention I found disappointing. I have been on over a dozen cruises in the past and found that the NCL Jade had smaller cabins, fewer selections for dinner service, and fewer daily activities on board then other cruise lines. I must add that the Jade is a smaller cruise liner with less people that the larger liners. There was inadequate information given about the ports of call (only one information session the first day about the entire 9 day cruise). The time on the islands was abbreviated, with some of them having to back on the ship as early as 2:30. And the last comment I have is the dress code for the dining rooms. I found it much to casual. Maybe I'm old fashioned but, for dinner service in the dining rooms proper attire should be enforced. Shorts, tee shirts, and flip flops should not be allowed. That style of dress should be reserved for the buffet or by the pool deck only.

9-day Caribbean trip on the Jade

Not the best, not the worst. Older crowd, not many kids. The stops are ok.

Service was OUTSTANDING

May 13th, 2024

The cruise was great.. We had a blast. Smaller ship so we did find ourselves with a good amount of down time. The staff was AMAZING. Enjoyed all the ports of call. The Elements show was OUTSTANDING.

Quick trip to the Caribbean

May 9th, 2024

We love the Haven but sailing without a Haven bar and dining room detracts from the ship. Crew was really excellent, room attendant and butler were top notch. Haven concierge was a magician getting us into the specialty restaurants. Haven pool and attendant were spot on.

Mini Vacation

Was a short 5-day getaway. Ship was clean with plenty of awesome crew members. Would do it again!

First time on Norwegian Jade

May 8th, 2024

Went to Cozumel and Great stirrup Kay on the cruise. The ship is a smaller ship. However very crowded. Especially on sea days.

Large Group

Classic ship

Apr 28th, 2024

This was my first time trying an older/smaller ship. I loved it! I stayed in The Haven for the first time (much cheaper on older ships). What a wonderful experience. Highly recommend everyone to try it at least once in life if you can!

Review of norwegian jade?

Cool Cruiser

I’m interested in potentially going on a canada new england cruise on norwegian jade. As it is a bucket list trip for me i’m interested to hear how the ship is. I’ve never cruised norwegian before.

Hubby and I (both late 40's) were on the Jade (Nov 26 - Dec 10 sailing) without our four kids. We really love this size ship and have previously sailed her sister ship the Gem, as well the Epic, the Getaway and the Escape twice. This was my 20th cruise overall.

The Jade is very easy to learn and get your bearings. We almost always dined in the back of the ship at the Great Outdoors for breakfast and lunch. They have a breakfast buffet there daily and "tea time" service usually beginning at around 2:30 (buffet-style late lunch and snacks).

We found that chairhogs were out in full force on this cruise. If you weren't up at the crack of dawn to get a lounger, you were out of luck. I believe that some loungers in full sun were available on the upper decks throughout the day but we were looking for spots of shade and only were able to snag two chairs around the pool with some shade on the day we were in Grand Cayman as we did not go to shore and the deck wasn't nearly full.

We were in an obstructed oceanview and found the cabin to have more than enough storage for two. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom layout is good with more size than most ships.

We were disappointed that there were no seating areas on the promenade deck, which used to be the case on ships of this size in the past. On the larger ships such as Escape, Getaway and Carnival's Panorama, we really loved using the promenade deck loungers and seats throughout the cruise and nice outdoor spots not geared to sunbathing. With no seating available on this deck on the Jade, we would often spent time playing cards or reading in the Spinnaker Lounge or the bar area on deck 6.

We found the food in the dining room to be very good to excellent but the coffee everywhere to be terrible. We actually elected to without coffee for the majority of the cruise as I do not like Starbucks, nor having to pay for it. On that note, I didn't like the coffee bar being in the middle of the atrium and missed using that space to get a pre/post dinner cocktail and listen to live music like we did most nights when we sailed on the Gem. The atrium wasn't very busy on the evenings when we were passing through -- nothing to draw you in! The atrium used to be the heartbeat of the ship (on these size and smaller ships in particular) but the Jade atrium was pretty much deserted a lot of the time.

The evening shows that we attended weren't overly busy so we never worried about getting a seat. The only show that was very well attending was "Elements." I also should note that this was the second time that we see the stage production "Blazing Boots" and there were several occasions where it was over the stop sexualized to the point that it made me feel uncomfortable and we noticed some of the bridge staff a few rows ahead of us shaking their heads at this as well. If we had been on the end of the aisle we would have left. If we had had our kids with us, I would have mountain climbed over people to get out. This definitely wasn't part of act when we saw it on the Gem and is unnecessary.

The Jade was renovated last year and is in excellent condition - we did not spot any wear in the public spaces and very little in our cabin. The maintenance staff was very busy the duration of the cruise keeping things spotless. As like most other lines, NCL has reduced the cabin service to once a day. We are relatively neat people so for us it wasn't a big deal.

We really enjoyed our two weeks aboard the Jade and would recommend this ship to anyone seeking a more traditional cruise experience (no rollercoasters or ropes courses, etc). It would be a lovely ship on which to sail to Canada/NE.

Thanks for this detailed review. I'm used to small ships too so this may suit.

Thanks for the great review of the Jade.  I have sailed on the Gem in the past and have 2 sailings booked on the Jade for 2024.  I liked the Great Outdoors on the Gem.

Sailing in February with a friend the Southern Carribean and the Boston to Canada in September with my husband.  Both times we have just booked an inside cabin.

I appreciate the information on the shows- plan to avoid Blazing Boots.

Since you're looking for a review of the Jade, a good place to start would be the Jade review page. Here you go...we'll be in the Jade in two months.

But it wasn’t until I stayed here myself that I truly understood why the property has been named one of the best resorts in the Caribbean by Travel + Leisure readers for more than 10 consecutive years.

After a flight and an hour’s drive to the island’s southwestern coast, my husband and I arrived at the resort just in time for sunset. The entirely open-air concept means every aspect of the typical hotel experience has been reimagined. Hallways have been replaced with personal suspended “sky bridges” that lead guests directly to their sanctuary, where the check-in process is completed with your Major Domo, or butler.

It’s no surprise the resort is a hit among couples. Despite being completely open to the elements, the lack of development in front of the property ensures guests have complete privacy, even while skinny dipping, sipping Champagne, and bird-watching in the massive infinity pools. According to the hotel, the longest a couple has stayed in their sanctuary without leaving is five days. As our private butler explained all the different in-suite services — from multicourse dinners to massages — that could be arranged, luxuriating forever seemed a pleasant possibility.

Before Jade Mountain Resort became a reality in 2006, owner Nick Troubetzkoy spent 25 years dreaming up an organic architectural marvel that showcased St. Lucia’s natural beauty. As the story goes, he came to the island in 1970 to work with a Canadian architectural firm and never left. His first resort was Anse Chastanet, Jade Mountain’s beachside sister property, which debuted in 2000 with a series of open-air bungalows that quickly became a successful proof of concept for Troubetzkoy’s barrier-breaking designs.

The experience is taken to a new level at Jade Mountain Resort, which sits on the upper portion of the 600 acres and caters to adults looking for utter tranquility. (Children under age 16 are not permitted.) The mountainside complex is an engineering feat: its free-form structure was created almost entirely from materials found on-site. Each room has an individual layout and design, and all the water used to fill the pools comes from a system of reservoirs that flows into an on-site water treatment plant. Sustainability has been important to the property since day one. Today, it weaves that ethos into everything from food and beverage programming to on-site activities.

“Many experiences at Jade draw from our Emerald Estate regenerative farm, from bean-to-bar cacao harvesting tours and chocolate making to vegan and Creole history cooking workshops,” says Karolin Troubetzkoy, Jade Mountain Resort’s co-owner and executive director.

When we weren’t in our sanctuary, we relaxed on the property’s two beaches, snorkeled among turtles and colorful fish, and indulged in farm-to-table cuisine (including nightly truffles made at the on-site chocolate lab).

Here, my review of Jade Mountain Resort covers everything you need to know about the rooms, activities, spa, and more.

Jade Mountain Resort

  • The expansive Infinity Pool Sanctuaries have an open-air design that still offers complete privacy.
  • It’s the only hotel in St. Lucia with a postcard-perfect view of the Piti and Gros Piton volcanic spires and the sea.
  • It’s a five-minute walk to two pristine soft sand beaches.
  • Guests can access the restaurants, bars, and other amenities at the adjoining sister resort, Anse Chastanet, a short stroll or shuttle ride down the mountain.
  • The property has its own organic farm with 1,000 cacao trees and an on-site chocolate lab.

Among the 29 sweeping suites are two dozen Infinity Pool Sanctuaries that feel more like floating works of art than traditional rooms. These spaces range from 1,400 to 2,000 square feet, with the Galaxy Sanctuaries on the property’s southwest corner offering the most spacious layouts, panoramic vistas, and the largest pools at around 900 square feet. Surfaced with iridescent glass tiles, each pool has its own color scheme, which extends to the rest of the interiors, including the platformed bathroom, complete with a mounted chromotherapy whirlpool for two. At night, the pools are illuminated with colorful lights — guests can select the shade or opt to have the system automatically cycle through a spectrum of hues.

On the lower level, five Sky Whirlpool Suites feature deep-soaking tubs for two but no infinity pools. One of these suites has air conditioning (which can be requested), while the rest of the rooms have several large ceiling fans. Thanks to the 15-foot ceilings and absent fourth wall, it usually feels quite breezy. With a mix of sustainably sourced tropical woods, local stone, pink blush-colored coral plaster from Barbados, and custom wood furniture, the suites have a warm and eclectic feel that complements the natural environment.

With its own organic farm and an on-site chocolate lab, it’s safe to say Jade Mountain Resort takes its culinary programming seriously. The Jade Mountain Club offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner on the upper level by an infinity pool overlooking the Pitons.

Catering exclusively to Jade Mountain guests, the hilltop dining room has a tranquil and refined atmosphere, with live music on select evenings and a great wine list. It’s easy to spend hours here — partly because the tropical-inspired “Jade Cuisine,” created by James Beard award-winning chef Allen Susser, is just that good. While the daily changing menus make it tempting to dine here each night, don’t miss the other restaurants at sister resort Anse Chastanet. Halfway down the mountain, Treehouse Restaurant serves Caribbean cuisine and offers a separate vegan menu for dinner. You’ll find a restaurant at the main beach serving Creole specialties for lunch and Saint Lucia-East Indian fusion for dinner. Another standout spot for lunch is the Jungle Bar and Grill on the second beach of Anse Mamin, where we ate burgers, ceviche, and rum cocktails under a palapa.

Those seeking a more intimate meal can opt for the multi-course “Six in Your Sanctuary” room service experience. Private dinners can also be arranged on the beach at Anse Chastanet or on the rooftop Celestial Terrace above the Jade Mountain Club. Both resorts offer a calendar of specialty culinary events, from weekly Lionfish Beach Dinners that aim to help control the invasive species to programming around seasonal events like Creole Heritage and Chocolate Month in October and mango season in June.

St. Lucia is an unsung adventure paradise with hiking trails, coral reefs, volcanoes, waterfalls, and mud baths to explore. Jade Mountain Resort is within easy reach of many of the island’s natural and cultural highlights, thanks to its position on the southwest coast. The property has an on-site scuba center with PADI-certified guides to help you reach dive and snorkel sites, including some reefs directly off the shore. A range of complimentary activities are offered, including Creole history classes, cocktail receptions, chocolate sensory tastings, and guided daily walks. We especially enjoyed the Plantation Tour with veteran guide and herbalist Meno, who covers the history of the property’s colonial-era plantation ruins and the island’s traditional medicinal plants. Adrenaline seekers will love the custom-designed jungle and mountain biking trails. And those inspired to hike up Gros Piton can arrange to do the arduous climb with a guide.

If your stay falls on a Thursday, don’t miss the Jazzy Sunset Cruise aboard the resort’s 60-foot, double-decker catamaran, Miss Babsie. While sailing past the Pitons and listening to a live saxophonist, we were greeted by dozens of pilot whales. Guests can also arrange to visit the Emerald Estate organic farm, which offers cooking classes, tree-to-bar chocolate tours, and beer tastings at the on-site microbrewery.

Guests can choose from various spa treatments in their sanctuary or one of the property’s two air-conditioned spas. Kai en Kiel (which means “house in heaven” in Patois/Creole has two treatment rooms at Jade Mountain Resort, while the beachside Kai Belté (meaning “house of beauty”) offers three treatment rooms and a nail and hair salon. There’s also a seaside cabana for those looking to pair their massage with the sounds of the ocean. The property’s in-sanctuary rituals are a standout and range from chocolate-infused body treatments to Ayurvedic chakra-balancing massages. Other highlights include the facials using Voya’s products, which are made from hand-harvested seaweed and aromatherapy treatments.

As part of its spa offerings, the resort has a robust yoga programming, with complimentary sunrise and sunset classes led by resident instructors. It’s worth waking up early to catch the class at 7 a.m. on the Celestial Terrace before the heat of the day, but private sessions can also be requested.

As the first resort in the Caribbean to receive the LEED Gold certification status in 2016, Jade Mountain Resort has long been a leader in environmentally conscious practices. Among its biggest feats is its water management, which harvests and purifies more than 12,000 gallons daily, reducing the burden on the town of Soufriere’s water supply. The property also supports the community through workplace health clinics, internships, work experience programs, and charitable programs. Ocean stewardship is a growing concern, so the property offers guest experiences such as coral reef restoration dives and PADI Dive Against Debris programs.

With its many stairs and steep slopes, Jade Mountain Resort is not fully ADA-compliant or recommended to those who use wheelchairs.

The 600-acre property sits on St. Lucia’s south-western Caribbean coastline, about an hour’s drive from the Hewanorra International Airport (UVF) and a 75-minute drive from the inter-island airport, George Charles Airport (SLU.) The hotel can arrange a transfer from the airport to the property by car or helicopter (yes, the property has its own helipad) for an ultra-scenic and speedy arrival.

The location offers guests easy access to some of the island’s best hiking trails, reefs, and geological wonders, including the world’s only drive-in volcano, Sulphur Springs. The closest town, Soufriere, is a 10-minute drive away, where you’ll find brightly painted buildings, a bustling market, and several local restaurants.

The island is warm year-round, though bouts of rain can be expected between June and November. Since St. Lucia is situated in the southeastern part of the Caribbean basin, just south of the region’s main “hurricane belt,” weather systems tend to be weak. Still, it’s a good idea to check the forecast before your stay if you’re visiting in the summer or fall.

The resort offers a range of room rates, including an all-inclusive meal plan, which about 70 percent of guests choose, says Troubetzkoy. Those booking with an American Express Platinum Card can score some extra perks like early check-in and a room upgrade (when available), daily breakfast for two, a spa credit, and late check-out. Packages catering to honeymooners, scuba divers, and adventure enthusiasts are offered year-round, which can lead to additional savings on activities or the option to get the fourth or fifth night free. Trust us, you’ll want to stay longer than a weekend.

Tolagnaro cruise port

Region Africa - Indian Ocean Islands

Local Time 2024-06-06 02:00

Port Tolagnaro cruise ship schedule shows timetable calendars of all arrival and departure dates by month. The port's schedule lists all ships (in links) with cruises going to or leaving from Tolagnaro, Fort-Dauphin, Madagascar. To see the full itineraries (ports of call dates and arrival / departure times) and their lowest rates – just follow the corresponding ship-link.

Tolagnaro (Tolanaro, aka Fort Dauphin) is an Indian Ocean port city on Madagascar's southeastern coast. It is also the capital of Tolanaro District and Anosy Region. Fort Dauphin port has been of local importance since early-15th century as it was the first French settlement in the country. Port d'Ehola is approx 10 km (6 ml) from Fort-Dauphin. Tolanaro's population is around 46,000.

Tolanaro was initially lying on a narrow, short peninsula but has since grown to cover a greater area, almost to mountain Bezavona (along Indian Ocean). Since the early 1970s, Fort Dauphin suffered an economic decline due to lack of decent road connections to the rest of Madagascar. This rendered the seaport only of local importance, despite the considerable export of live lobster (up to 350 tons annually, between 1990-2005), sapphires and tourism.

Anosy area (around Tolanaro) is undergoing a massive development associated with the new ilmenite mine run by QIT Madagascar Minerals company (subsidiary of Rio Tinto Group / UK-based global mining corporation). The new Port Ehoala (west of Tolagnaro) as well as a variety of mining facilities, housing for mine workers and new road infrastructure have been built at the cost of nearly USD 1 billion. These were the first major investments in the infrastructure of the area for many decades.

Tolagnaro cruise terminal

Cruise ships to Tolagnaro (Madagascar) dock at Port d'Ehola - located approx 10 km (6 ml) from Fort-Dauphin. The seaport was built to serve the Ilmenite mining industry developed at the nearby QIT Madagascar Minerals mine (opened in 2009).

From Port d'Ehola, cruise passengers are transported to Tolanaro City via complimentary shuttle buses.
