Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood – Horror Made Here | @WBTourHollywood #WBTourHollywood

Just in time for Halloween, Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood has a brand new experience for fright fans as Horror Made Here makes its debut.

WB Studio Tour HorrorMadeHere FreddyKrueger

At the end of the studio tour, guests are invited to walk through the newly opened Stage 48 where you can see many iconic props, costumes and more. Here you’ll find the “Horror Made Here” exhibit.

Nightmare on Elm Street is still my favorite horror movie series. I was super excited to see the actual props for Freddy Krueger from the movie, like his glove filled with knives, the iconic red and green sweater as well as his horrific hat.

Have you heard of Christien Tinsley? He is the creative mind behind some of the amazing outstanding prosthetic make-up on shows like American Horror Story, Glee and Nip/Tuck. Tinsley was also awarded an Academy Award® for Best Technical Achievement, received an Oscar® nomination for his work on The Passion of the Christ. See how these Tinsley creates these amazingly real prosthetics through each step of the process from design, sculpting and molding to painting and application.

Horror WB Made Here Christien Tinsley

My husband tells me all the time that to him, The Exorcist was the scariest movie of all time with the amazing special effects. This exhibit also features the  original cracked bedroom door from that movie along with the sinister stunt doll from Annabelle.

Want to get in on the special effects? You’ll have a chance to take a “Head Shot” you can take home with you. Check out mine!!!

The Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood runs for about 2 and a half hours, while tour guides take you through back lots, sound stages and more. You’ll have the opportunity to see current sets, that are used in current tv shows like Pretty Little Liars and more. We also went through Warner Bros. Movie Museum that currently features props and costumes from Harry Potter and Batman and new movie coming out in 2016 – Batman v Superman, along with a stroll through the “Bat Cave” to see current and past “Bat-mobiles”.

Things To Do

Universal studios, subscriber only, universal studios | how universal turns its daytime studio tour into the halloween horror nights terror tram, terror tram: the exterminatorz is part of the theme park's annual halloween horror nights which runs select evenings through oct. 31..

But during the theme park’s annual Halloween Horror Nights , once the sun sets, the backlot is taken over by monsters and the trams and tour guides only take patrons so far before kicking them off into the darkness to brave the elements. Each year there’s a theme and for this haunting season the attraction has been dubbed Terror Tram: The Exterminatorz.

Insects and rodents, led by sharp-tongued salesman Larry Larva, have started an extermination company and they’re out to get rid of all of the humans for destroying the planet.

Bugs have taken over on the Terror Tram at Universal...

“I invented Larry specifically for this,” HHN creative director and executive producer John Murdy said during an interview while previewing the mazes for this year’s event, which takes place select evenings through Oct. 31.

“In my research, I watched bad infomercials from the ’80s that you’d see on late night cable and I was like, well this guy should be the head of the company,” he continued. “There’s a little environmental message here, too. I like to play with the existential crisis of the day, much like the horror genre does. I was tapping into the idea that humans have been here for x amount of years, but insects have been on the planet for millions and millions of years, but look what the humans have done. They’ve poisoned the air and water and the insects are like, game over, this is done.”

Rats, flies, caterpillars, ants, spiders and a lot of other creepy crawly characters are scattered throughout the backlot as guests walk through the set of the “Psycho” Bates Motel and up by the famous “Psycho” house, where Norman Bates is posing for photos with his sharp kitchen knife. Don’t worry, the bugs will leave you alone long enough for a photo op.

The experience continues through the “War of the Worlds” plane crash site and onto the set of Jupiter’s Claim from director Jordan Peele’s suspense-thriller, “Nope.” There aren’t many bugs in this area, but in the ultimate horror crossover moment, The Teathered from Peele’s film “Us” have invaded the set.

“The Terror Tram presents fun opportunities, but also challenges,” Murdy said since his team have to work around these pre-existing sets each year for HHN and the daytime Studio Tour is routed to other areas of the backlot. “You have to come up with ideas that are umbrella concepts that can work with all of this, so for this year, we went back to a scare zone we did in, I want to say, 2015 called Exterminators. It was always one of my favorite scare zones and it just worked with this.”

So how are the insets luring in the humans for extinction? Larry Larva invented a humancide he calls “sqwooge” that will melt their skin right off.

“Humans can’t resist it,” Murdy said, noting that he made up the word “sqwooge” and went with it because it sounded funny. “It looks like a milkshake, it smells like a cheeseburger and it tastes like warm apple pie.”

  • Paramount After Dark Review

2023 Update: Since the 2020 pandemic lockdown, the Paramount After Dark Tour is officially “on hiatus.” Paramount has informed us that the tour may return at some future date. Meanwhile, regular daytime tours have resumed.

Paramount After Dark Studio Tour General Information

This night-time version of the year-round studio tour covers much of the same territory (sound stages where current television shows are shot; stories about the making of The Godfather ) but with an emphasis on spooky rumors and grim Hollywood history, including a detour through the adjacent Hollywood Forever Cemetery . Included are visits to the former RKO sound stages where King Kong (1933) was filmed, along with props and costumes from Sweeney Todd, The Addams Family, Terminator: Genysis , Star Trek , and World War Z .

  • Suggested for guests 16 and over.
  • Complimentary champagne is included at the beginning.
  • Movie candy and popcorn available at a rest stop.
  • The walking tour lasts two-and-a-half hours; wear comfortable shoes.
  • Video filming is not allowed; still images are permitted except inside the sound stages.

Since reopening after the Covid-19 lockdown, Paramount Tours protocols in place. Visitors must be fully vaccinated or have tested negative within 72 hours. Proof of vaccination or a negative test result is required for entry.

Halloween Horror Nights Posts Cryptic Teaser For 2024 Event

Halloween Horror Nights in both Universal Studios Hollywood and Orlando have both posted teaser videos to their social media accounts. Check it out below.

The gate has been opened pic.twitter.com/h3LUwYSKQ9 — Horror Nights (@HorrorNights) May 14, 2024

The teasers look like they’re showing off some of the new houses and themes of the year, with fans trying to guess online what it could be. The official YouTube for Horror Nights has this description for the video.

The gate has been opened, and there’s no containing the insatiable evil that will break through from beyond. This is where horror lives.

Now obviously this could be for a variety of things. They pan to a sewer grate, which obviously evokes memories of It , there’s also a bit of a Stranger Things vibe going on, but they’re already caught up on that with the previous year’s houses based on Stranger Things season four.

This also could just be for the big overall theme of the event and a new bunch of created characters. We’ll have to see when we get closer to the Halloween season. Universal Studios Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights is open even earlier than before with dates starting August 30th through November 3rd. Hollywood hasn’t announced a schedule of dates yet.

Guests can  pre-order and secure their spot for the screams NOW  with select tickets and offers. Plan the ultimate fall getaway where they can experience the adrenaline-pumping thrills of Universal’s theme parks by day and the chills of Horror Nights at night.

This fall guests from around the globe can brave their worst nightmares coming to life at Halloween Horror Nights. This year, a chilling new collection of haunting experiences await guests with 10 all-new movie-quality haunted houses inspired by cinematic greats and eerie original stories created by the twisted minds of Universal’s Entertainment team. There’s also five scare zones filled with hundreds of creatures and monsters who will take over the streets of Universal Studios Florida.

Between the screams, there’s plenty of entertainment including live shows, delicious food and beverage, merchandise, and of course, the attractions of Universal Studios Florida.

Single-night event tickets and Express Passes for Halloween Horror Nights are available for purchase now. Guests can also stay, scream and save up to $200 (based on a seven-night stay) with a special vacation package that includes one-night admission to the event and accommodations at a Universal hotel located just minutes from the haunts. This package also includes admission to all three Universal Orlando theme parks to enjoy some of the most innovative rides and attractions ever created during the day, before facing the chills of Halloween Horror Nights at night. Plus, hotel guests receive exclusive benefits including access to a dedicated Halloween Horror Nights gate for faster entry into the event, Early Park Admission to the theme parks during the day, complimentary resort transportation, and more. Savings vary based on length of stay and this package is available for purchase now through November 2 for use from August 30 to November 3. Halloween Horror Nights upgrades are also available for purchase now, including the guided, nighttime R.I.P. Tour experience where guests receive priority V.I.P. access to the haunted houses; and the Behind the Screams: Unmasking the Horror Tour that offers a glimpse into how the scares are brought to life via a daytime, lights-on journey through select haunted houses. For guests who can’t wait to peek at what’s in-store this year, there’s also a limited, three-house Behind The Screams: Unmasking the Horror Tour available for purchase for select days starting Aug. 11.

We should get even more news about Halloween Horror Nights at the Midsummer Scream event in Long Beach, CA on July 26-28.

U niversal Studios Hollywood has started to prepare for Halloween Horror Nights 2024. House construction is now underway and visible from a few different locations around Universal Studios Hollywood. Let’s take a look at the latest progress.

Halloween Horror Nights 2024 House Construction

The tent next to Revenge of the Mummy has gone up and the start of a facade is visible. Wood frames are set up around what will be the entrance to one of the houses.

Nothing about the structure gives any hint as to what the house could be, unfortunately. On the right side, there is a square opening. This “window” could potentially have a scareactor or animated figure at the entrance like some of the houses last year.

Looking towards the backlot, another tent is set up behind Transformers The Ride 3D.

Very few details can be seen from here, but walls have gone up around the tent.

From here, the entrance looks like a single, flat piece of wood.

On the Upper Lot, construction walls have gone up around Parisian Courtyard.

Next to Mel’s Diner, construction walls block off what will be the entrance to another house during Halloween Horror Nights 2024. Last year, this was the entrance for Monstruous: The Monsters of Latin America . There are more construction walls on the opposite side of the courtyard.

Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood is very similar to Orlando and often shares many of the same IP houses, but each coast will feel unique. In 2023, some of our favorite houses in Hollywood were Universal Monsters: Unmasked , Chucky Ultimate Kill Count , and “The Last of Us” . Those houses were also part of Orlando’s event, but they were completely different. If you have the opportunity to experience the event on both coasts, we highly recommend it!

At this time, Universal Studios Hollywood has not made any announcements for this year’s event. Stay tuned for Halloween Horror Nights 2024 details to be released soon!

Things To Do

Theme parks, disney world, subscriber only, disney world | new tour shares scoop on ‘drawn to life’ show at disney springs.

Scenes from the trap room, below the stage at Cirque du Soleil's "Drawn to Life" show at Disney Springs. Cirque has started a behind the scenes tour called Page to Stage Signature Experience. (Dewayne Bevil/Orlando Sentinel)

A guided post-show tour of the theater — including backstage and beneath the stage — is the cherry on top.

“We’re hoping for people to walk away feeling a sense of joy, feeling a sense of real connection to the show. It’s such a nice chance for us to be able to share the inside workings of our world with people because people are blown away by the show,” Justin Sullivan, artistic director, said after a preview of the experience.

Page to Stage nights launch May 24, and they’ll be available for the 8 p.m. show on Fridays and Saturdays as well as the 4 p.m. show on Sundays. Without being too spoiler-y, here are seven takeaways from the experience preview.

Stage directions

The stage of the theater was revamped after “La Nouba” closed in late 2017. It now reflects the “Drawn to Life” storyline of an animator and his young daughter Julie, and the stage has permanent fixtures that are greatly enlarged elements found on Julie’s dad’s desk, including a pencil sharpener and container, eraser and lamp.

That lamp, nearly as tall as the stage, originally was intended to move and be lit up whenever Julie’s dad was around, then go dim when he wasn’t. It was to loom above her character whenever she was animating. But the mechanism wouldn’t cooperate, our guide said.

Halls and walls

From the theater, we took a nondescript stairway down to offices and other operational rooms. There’s also a dance studio and a break room. The hallways were with some taking-care-of-business items on the walls, plus photographs of “Drawn” cast members. This is where we encountered two of the show’s cast members, and they posed for pictures and answered questions.

Also of note, an autograph wall with names written in gold to represent the show’s original cast and silver names for performers who have come on board later.

Two standout exceptions with signatures on that wall: Angela Bassett and John Stamos (plus Mickey and Minnie Mouse).

Cleaning up, dripping dry

We peeked into the wardrobe room from the hallway and also saw the laundry. In another room, the costumes were being dried by fans. Cirque doesn’t use industrial dryers for fear of damage. The costumes are custom-made for each performer.

Also, the costumes are not worn twice without being washed in between, even on days when there are two performances.

Because we traveled downstairs and there were no windows, there was a basement vibe … even though we’re in Florida, a place where basements are rare.

The area beneath the stage – known as the trap room – is tightly arranged and choreographed. There are two risers, basically big squares that elevate in plain sight for scenery changes and the like. Props such as the desks are arranged downstairs so that they’ll be loaded on in minimum time and for maximum creative effect. (“La Nouba” used five of these risers.)

The guide pointed out the trap door for the pillow that popped up through the floor at the start of “Drawn to Life.”

There are moving parts down there that go sideways and up and down. There are safety sensors that indicate if something is amiss. If so, the show does not go on.

One of the show’s props is called Mary Blair’s desk, and it has paint tubes and brushes from the Disney Archives in California.

Sheets to the wind

Back upstairs, but still backstage, we saw the “comforting sheets” (as in sheets of paper, not bed linens). When a performer is inside this costume, they strike a starfish-ish, arms spread, sort of jumping jack pose. They cannot see out.

But they can see down. From the starting position backstage, they look at the floor and follow the red line to the stage. From there, our guide told us, it’s “muscle memory” for the performance, a part of the show when projected “sketches” of characters are seen on the sheets. If the performers are off in placement, projection mapping will self-correct the effects.

Nearby backstage is the horse desk, a popular feature of the show. Fun facts: It’s one giant puppet controlled by one person inside. Performers can see out through the mesh end of the contraption, which is especially important as they gallop off.

Hidden gyms

Props that stay handy to backstage: unicycles, which are used in the Garden of Lines segment inspired by the Blue Fairy from “Pinocchio.” The performers’ huge hoop skirts are hoisted up into the rafters. There’s a lot stored up there, including tumbling mats.

By the numbers

• 70: Weight, in pounds of the horse desk, which is made of lightweight foam.

• 32: Projectors cover the entire stage.

• 25: Loads of laundry done per day by the costume department.

• 16: Feet that the lifts travel from the trap room to the stage.

• 9: Height, in stories, of the stage.

• 8: Height, in feet, of the comforting sheets (they’re 6 feet wide).

• 1: Version of Julie’s dad’s desk, but Cirque said it’s built to last. (Note that “La Nouba” lasted 19 years at Disney Springs.)

The experience is not a tell-all, y’all.

“There are a few surprises that we like to keep to ourselves,” Sullivan said. “There are some magic elements in the show that we don’t share with the public to keep that mystique alive.”

The Page to Stage Experience costs $258. There’s a limit of nine people guests per show.

Cirque du Soleil is also offering 25% off tickets for performances through July 7 in select seating categories. The offer, good only for the show, ends May 28.
