The Eras Tour Stage: See the Intricate World-Building of Every Set in Taylor Swift’s Most Ambitious Shows Ever

By Katherine McLaughlin

Taylor Swift performs onstage during night three of Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour

Since kicking off in March of 2023, the Eras Tour stage has provided an immersive backdrop to Taylor Swift’s most ambitious shows to date. Indeed, there was a joke circling the internet following the opening weekend of the now nonpareil: look at any random collection of photos taken throughout the night—some even snapped mere minutes apart—and you’d never know they all came from the same show. What starts in a hazy pink, cotton candy dreamscape ends in a sultry, sparkling twilight—with plenty of undulating stops in the middle, from ethereal fairytale woods to the energetic skyscrapers of the concrete jungle.

“[The stage] changes for almost every song, which is crazy to think about considering most artists have the same stage for their entire set list,” Maya Minocha, a fan who has attended multiple shows, tells  AD. Broken down by “era,” the concert takes fans on a three-plus-hour journey through nearly every album in the singer’s 18-year career. “The sets absolutely made this possible,” Ginnie Low, a fan who attended the tour and runs the TikTok account The Thrifty Swiftie , says. “I didn’t move from my tiny little seat area the whole concert, but was transported to 10 different worlds.” Ariel Miranda , another concert-goer agrees. “It was such an immersive experience,” she says.

Now, over a year into the global phenomenon, the singer is still keeping fans on their toes with an ever changing assortment of costumes, track lists, and even a brand new set to commemorate her latest release, The Tortured Poets Department . With a distinct focus on world building,  AD takes a look at the incredible set design that helps bring her music to life throughout the triumphant concert.

The Lover Era

Swift opens the show with tracks off of her seventh studio album,  Lover. “It was as if she picked up right from where she left off,” Miranda says, referring to Swift’s COVID-19-induced cancellation of her sixth headline tour, Lover Fest, in 2020. Having characterized the album with yellow, pink, and blue pastels, Swift—outfitted in a shimmering leotard—belts songs like “Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince” and “Cruel Summer” while dancers wielding billowing tapestries perform beneath a rosy glow. Screens show two pink triumphal arcs, which were historically built to honor a person or commemorate an important event—a fitting gesture to begin the one-of-a-kind spectacle.

A familiar dollhouse-like home appears behind Swift later in the set, which many fans recognize from her “Lover” music video. “The screen begins flashing images that eventually piece together to become the Lover House, which was a huge Easter egg,” Miranda adds. In the video, Swift and costar Christian Owens move through various colored rooms  within a house in a snow globe. When the music video first dropped, fans theorized that each room represented one of her existing albums, and with the release of three new albums, many believe the home is now complete .

During The Man” Swift used scaffolding and office props to emulate a corporate environment.

Other notable scenes from the Lover section of the show include a full-scale office cosplay moment during “The Man,” where Swift sings about the sexism she’s faced throughout her career. While it’s been a part of the show since 2023, it certainly fits into the “ corporate fetish ” trend of late, in which offices have become unlikely muses.

Next up in the night, Swift performs three songs from her second album,  Fearless, for which she won album of the year in 2010 at the Grammys (the youngest artist to ever win the accolade). Though she was certainly popular in country circles following her self-titled debut album, it was this second record that established her mainstream success. And not only does the singer bring back some classic circa 2009  dance moves , she also showcases a dazzling gold motif that she employed when promoting the album over a decade ago.

Taylor Swift with her bejeweled guitar

Outfitted in soft curls and sequins, Swift was often portrayed as the girl next door and an American sweetheart during this period. Though she did, at times, lean into this persona, fans remember her determination to be bold, strong, and, yes, fearless. The sparkles and shine acted as visual representation of this.

For fans, perhaps the most exciting Easter egg was a nod to the bedazzled guitar that she toured with during her  Fearless era. In an Instagram story, Swift revealed that it was her parents who artfully stuck the shimmering crystals onto her acoustic instrument just days before the Eras Tour started.

The Red Era

During the European leg, Swift switched up the order of her sets, and moved the Red era to the third spot. The original tour for the album, which took place between 2013 and 2014, was her biggest at the time. It included a seven-piece band, fifteen dancers, multiple costume changes, as well as jumbotrons and multilevel stages. Though the Eras Tour stage certainly honors some of these larger-than-life moments from the first  Red tour, it also shows considerable restraint.

During one particularly emotional moment, Swift sings the 10-minute version of her critically acclaimed “All Too Well” with just her acoustic guitar. However, this doesn’t mean it wasn’t exciting. “Even some of her slower songs like “All Too Well,” where it was just her and a guitar, had insane stage effects that you wouldn’t expect, like snow confetti falling across the stadium and the stage rising when she starts singing a high note,” Minocha tells  AD.

The Speak Now Era

Swift sings “Enchanted” during the Speak Now set.

Swift sings “Enchanted” during the Speak Now set.

Though Swift only performs one song from her third album,  Speak Now —much to the disappointment of some fans—she makes sure it counts. The singer belts in a ballgown in a digitally crafted field of flowers, thanks to projections on the screens and the stage floor. The color purple defined the album’s aesthetic, and, though the shade is often associated with royalty, it can also symbolize ambition, power, and independence. Following her historic win at the Grammys for  Fearless,   Speak Now was a pivotal moment in her career. Could she keep up the pace or was she another teen star who lost momentum as they reached young adulthood? Not only did Swift deliver, she proved she could do it on her own: Speak Now was the first album she wrote entirely solo.

The Reputation Era

Swift stands atop a raised stage during the Reputation era of the concert.

Spawned from Swift’s 2016 public feud with Kim Kardashian and Kanye West,  Reputation represented the singer’s reflection on fame, public perception, and an opportunity to rewrite the “good girl” narrative she’d carried around for years. Though the album is often billed as defensive and reactive, it remains one of her most misunderstood collections: It’s also full of love songs and sweet moments. The dark stadium and blood red risers certainly support the most common perception of the album; however, it’s hard to miss the lit candles just below her. After all, it’s no coincidence burning is just as frequently used to describe rage and anger as it is passion and love.

During “Look What You Made Me Do,” Swift’s backup dancers perform in doll boxes dressed in outfits inspired by previous looks she’s worn. The moment is a direct nod to the song’s  music video , in which Swift reenacts various moments throughout her time in the public eye in an eruptive, Easter egg-filled video.

The Folklore and Evermore Era

Taylor Swift on an A-frame during the Folklore set

To make room for new material, Swift now combines two albums, Folklore and Evermore, into one set. “I was so obsessed with the  Folklore set because it seemed like Taylor was living her best life in a little remote forest cabin even though some 60,000 people were watching her,” Minocha says of watching the opening night show in Glendale, Arizona back in 2023. (A version of this home was first seen in her  2021 Grammy’s performance .)

Thematically,  Folklore explored a fictional woodland world Swift dreamed up during quarantine, and while a cabin certainly captures that aura, the choice of an A-frame specifically is notable. Because they were relatively cheap and easy to build, the style of home grew in popularity in the United States following World War II as vacation properties—an appropriate connection given the album is centered around an escapist fantasy.

A-frames also represented a unique moment for architects who, with little financial consequences at stake, were able to test out their more speculative creative ideations. In many ways, with lockdowns, limited promotion, and no obvious answer for how or if the music would be performed live, this is what Swift’s  Folklore era represented too: the opportunity to explore,  uninhibited . “I love that album and she really created this whole world for it,” Low adds, “Building the folklore cabin and bringing us all into that world with her was just so cool.”

Taylor Swift performs songs from her ninth album Evermore at the Eras Tour.

Swift uses a moss-covered piano for songs during this set.

Swift’s ninth album, Evermore, was positioned as a deeper exploration of the “folklorian woods,” the fictional, cottagecore-inspired place Swift used to direct her first foray into indie folk music. In the combined set, trees circle the singer on the screens behind her while Swift croons behind a moss-covered piano.

The 1989 Era

“Another thing that I loved about the stage design in general was how there are basically three different parts of it that all connected together: the main stage, the diamond stage, and the catwalk that leads to the end of the stage,” Miranda says. “She really utilizes each and every one of these sections of the stage at different times during the night.”

Though examples are abundant, a particularly creative use comes during Swift’s  1989 set, a record which won Album of the Year at the Grammys in 2016. While performing “Blank Space” on the central diamond, the raised portion displays a Shelby Cobra, which Swift and backup dancers “hit” with light-up golf clubs in a live reenactment of an iconic scene from the song’s music video.

The Tortured Poet’s Department Era

Following much speculation, Swift added a brand-new set to the Eras Tour when the show began its European leg in Paris on May 9. Designed for her latest record-shattering album, The Tortured Poet’s Department , the stage takes on a noir palette for this portion of the show. Screen projections and props include a UFO ship that beams a spotlight on the singer as well as a rolling bed-table hybrid seemingly designed to resemble a 19th-century hospital bed.

Taylor Swift performs onstage during Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour at La Defense on May 09 2024 in Paris France

“For a minute I knew cosmic love,” Swift sings beneath the beam of a UFO.

The Tortured Poet’s set also includes the addition of a new stage piece: an elevated box that mirrors the floor projections, giving the appearance that Swift is levitating around the stage. Some fans have endearingly describe the prop as a “ stage Roomba. ”

The bed recalls Swift’s “Fortnight” music video.

The set ends with a highly theatrical performance of the singer’s “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart,” in which the stage takes on the appearance of a vaudeville-, burlesque-style theater . Many fans linked the design to Clara Bow, a silent film star who Swift name-checks on the album. However, perhaps the most notable aspect is the simulated proscenium arch. In theater architecture, the detail marks the metaphorical plane separating performers from the audience, similar in concept to the “fourth wall.” It’s a unique addition considering the architectural detail is not possible in a stadium designed for 360-degree views—generally the only venues in which Swift performs.

Swift sings “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” at The Eras Tour in Paris.

It’s particularly impactful when considering a recurring theme on the album: Swift’s complex relationship with fame and fans . In songs like “But Daddy I Love Him” and “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart,” she sings about the pressure to please fans and her frustration with commentary about her life and decisions. The proscenium could represent a metaphorical separation between Swift, the performer, and Swift, the person, showcasing which version of her she believes fans are entitled to.

The Midnights Era

During the final set of the show Swift performed songs from her newest album Midnights.

During the final set of the show, Swift performs songs from her album Midnights.

The non-stop show ends with cuts from Swift’s 2022 album,  Midnights,  with the stage cast in dark light, representative of both the title of the album and the end of the concert. Standing firmly in the present,  Midnights still has its roots in the past, since the album tells “the stories of 13 sleepless nights scattered throughout my life,” Swift explained in a  Instagram post . It’s easy to follow the way the previous two-plus hours of sonic reflection—aided through the incredible set design—brings her to where she is now. As Minocha summarizes, “I’ve been to almost all of Taylor’s past tours ,and the stage and production has always been above and beyond, but because this one explores all the eras of her career, everything is just next level.”

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift always keeps her promises. Just a couple weeks after unveiling a list of Latin American dates for her bestselling Eras Tour and pledging to schedule even more across the globe, the 33-year-old pop star has now announced a slew of international shows for the trek in 2024.

Here Are the Artists Opening for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour: Paramore, Phoebe Bridgers…

Trending on billboard.

Swift first confirmed that the Eras Tour would be going global earlier this month, when the “Anti-Hero” singer announced a Latin American leg of shows in Mexico, Brazil and Argentina also featuring support from Carpenter, whom Swift called a “sweet angel princess.” “Really thrilled to tell you this!!” the pop star wrote in a post to her social media accounts at the time. “Mexico, Argentina and Brazil: We are bringing The Eras Tour to you this year!” she wrote on Instagram at the time.

“LOTS more international dates to come soon, promise!” she added.

Ten days later, Swift added three additional shows to the Latin America leg, which kicks off in early August and picks up in November.

In addition to the new shows, Swifties also have a new album to look forward to in the coming weeks. As announced in May, Swift’s third studio album, Speak Now, will receive the “Taylor’s Version” treatment. Re-recordings of the set’s original tracks drop July 7, as do previously unreleased “Vault” tracks featuring Hayley Williams and Fall Out Boy.

(june 16 & 17).

The alternative pop artist from Oslo, born Marie Ulven - is continuing her path to world domination, kicking off 2022 with a  Best New Alternative Artist nomination for the iHeart Radio Music Awards.

Taylor Swift Taps Paramore for European Eras Tour Run

Taylor Swift knows we need more — so she’s giving us just that. The singer has added 14 more shows to the European/U.K. leg of her Eras Tour , and announced that Paramore will provide support throughout the trek.

“Really can’t contain my excitement because… we’re adding 14 new shows to The Eras Tour,” Swift wrote on Twitter Wednesday, July 5. “And I get to travel the world doing shows with @paramore !! Hayley and I have been friends since we were teens in Nashville and now we get to frolic around the UK/Europe next summer??? I’m screaming???”

Last month, Swift added dozens of shows to her Taylor Swift: The Eras stadium tour — bringing the total count of shows to a whooping 104 nights . She also extended her run at Los Angeles’ So-Fi Stadium with a sixth show scheduled for Aug. 7.

The new addition comes after the singer announced shows in Japan, Australia, Singapore, and Europe earlier this week. (See below for the full tour dates.)

“EXCUSE ME HI I HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY 🙋‍♀️,” she wrote on Instagram. “I can’t wait to see so many of you on The Eras Tour next year at these new international dates!”

She also added more dates to her already-announced Latin America tour. After wrapping her U.S. dates in Los Angeles on Aug. 9, Swift will head to Mexico City for four straight shows at Foro Sol starting Aug. 24. She’ll then stop in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and both Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo in Brazil in November.

Swift first announced the tour last October after she completely took over the Billboard Hot 100 top 10 with Midnights . The added dates, which follow the addition of eight new shows last week, were slotted in “due to unprecedented demand,” according to the singer’s camp.

“Good Morning America, it’s Taylor,” Swift said during the announcement. “I wanted to tell you something that I’ve been so excited about for a really long time and I’ve been planning for ages, and I finally get to tell you I’m going back on tour. The tour is called the ‘Eras’ tour, and it’s a journey through all of my musical eras of my career.”

Cyndi Lauper Announces 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun' Farewell Tour

Selena gomez says she's unsure if she'll tour again: it's 'emotionally draining', charly bliss will hit the road but not before 'calling you out'.

Across the tour, Swift is being supported in select cities by a combination of special guests including Paramore, beabadoobee, Phoebe Bridgers, girl in red, MUNA, HAIM, GAYLE, Gracie Abrams, and OWENN.

The Eras tour follows the cancelation of her planned 2020 Lover Fest tour, which was originally going to see her make stadium stops in Los Angeles, Boston, and New York, along with Brazil, Denmark, Norway, and Poland. “This is an unprecedented pandemic that has changed everyone’s plans and no one knows what the touring landscape is going to look like in the near future,” she wrote in 2021.

Swift last went the road in 2018 for her massive Reputation Stadium Tour , which saw Swift accompanied by the likes of Charli XCX and Camila Cabello across the United States, the United Kingdom, along with Australia, New Zealand, and Japan. The tour was the highest-grossing music tour by a female artist that year.

Since her last tour, Swift has released four albums and two re-releases: Lover , Folklore , Evermore , Midnights , and Taylor’s Version editions of Fearless and Red with additional songs. In total, she’s dropped 90 tracks of new material, not including collaborations with the likes of Haim and Big Red Machine.

Fans have long wondered what music she’ll be performing on the road, with some theorizing that she’d host a residency in Las Vegas or a music festival where she’d perform different “eras” on different nights.

Along with packing her setlist with songs from Reputation in 2018, she surprised each city with an acoustic rendition of fan favorites like “Red,” “Holy Ground,” and “Wildest Dreams.” At select shows, she also brought out special guests. Shawn Mendes, Selena Gomez, Hayley Kiyoko, and Maren Morris were among the artists to be brought out by Swift.

She previously took her 1989 album on the road for 85 dates, where she was accompanied by the likes of Mendes, James Bay, Vance Joy, and Haim. Before then was The Red Tour in 2013 and 2014, and her Speak Now World Tour from 2011 to 2012.

“In My Travel Era” — Taylor Swift, Beyonce Usher in an Event Tourism Renaissance

Performance art and sporting events are driving tourism to destinations like never before. Recent Arival research sheds light on who is traveling, what they are seeing, and how they are booking

event travel taylor swift

by Stephen Joyce | 25 March 2024

Would you travel to see your favorite artist perform or favorite team play? The trend of traveling for ticketed events is on the rise, according to the latest Arival research.

Beyonce and Taylor Swift, for example, sold 7 million tickets for their most recent Renaissance and Eras tours combined, and anywhere between 17-38% of those fans traveled to see their favorite artists perform.

And this is good news for experiences, because when people travel for an event, they don’t just attend the event — usually, they add on a few things, might as well “since we’re already going to be there.” In Singapore, for example, Asia-based online travel agency (OTA) Klook noted a fivefold increase in the number of experiences booked on the platform in the week of Taylor Swift’s concert in that city. Therein lies the power of events for the tours, activities and attractions sector.

In the latest Arival research report, The Power of Events: How Sports and Performing Arts Drive Tourism , we dive deeper into event related travel and the impact that these events have on the tour, activity, and experience sector, with insights on the key trends around events, from event booking trends, to how and when travelers choose and purchase events and the related travel.

Events are a Big deal

A large number of travelers (over 25%) from the U.S. and Europe attended some kind of sporting or performing arts event while on a trip. European travelers tended to prefer performing arts events such as music, theater, or cultural events while U.S. travelers were fairly evenly split between performing arts and sporting events.

Music concerts and theater ranked as the most popular performing arts events attended by travelers. With big name performers such as Taylor Swift and Beyonce performing in many major destinations globally, many fans chose to travel for these performances rather than attend them in their hometowns.

With tickets for major performers a fraction of the cost in Europe compared to cities like New York, San Francisco, or Los Angeles, some U.S. fans have realized by traveling to Europe to see their favorite performers they can include a trip in the mix, for a similar cost of purchasing higher-priced local tickets.

@kylynschnelle Down with Ticketmaster #ticketmasterfail #ticketmastersucks #breakupmonopolies ♬ original sound – Kylyn Schnelle

Lower ticket costs are motivating fans to travel to see their favorite performers live, as this TikToker explains

Part of the reason why ticket costs are so much lower in Europe than the U.S. is that many European countries have strict legislation around consumer ticket pricing and reselling of tickets, as opposed to markets like the United States where ticketing companies and resellers drive up the cost of tickets and there is no limit to how much resellers can charge , which is how ticket prices for one Taylor Swift show went from a range of $49 – $449 per ticket to a jaw-dropping $11,000 (or, a pretty comfortable budget for a trip to Europe).

Football for the Win

When it comes to sporting events, the clear winner is football, or soccer as it is referred to in the U.S. With over 59% of Europeans and 50% of Americans having attended a football game. With the Paris Olympics coming up this summer, and FIFA World Cup coming up in 2026, we are sure to see a surge of event based travel as a result. Not surprisingly, U.S.-centric sports such as American football, basketball, and baseball all tended to skew heavily to U.S. travelers traveling domestically for both college and professional level games.

What is driving this trend? As we have seen in other segments of the in-destination experiences, young people are predominantly driving interest in participating in events during trips. Our consumer research showed that nearly half of the U.S. travelers who attended an event were between 18 and 35, almost double the number of those over the age of 55. In Europe 30% of travelers between 18 and 35 attended events versus just 15% of those over 55.

event travel taylor swift

In addition, these travelers are not just adding these events on to an existing trip. For more than a quarter of the trips that include an event, the event is the main driver for the trip. This means that for a large segment of travelers, attending the event is the primary reason for going on the trip, whether that’s to see Taylor Swift in Paris, Beyonce in Cardiff, or the World Cup in Vancouver.

event travel taylor swift

Online & Mobile Ticketing

But it’s not just big name performers or major world sporting events that are driving travel. People travel to see all kinds of events including theater and lesser known artists. Many of these events and trips are influenced by friends and family and subsequently researched online.

And, as would be expected, these travelers are also securing their tickets for these events before they purchase other travel components such as airfare and accommodations. For both performing arts and sports events, up to 50% of travelers purchased tickets two weeks or more in advance of other trip components, compared to just 25% for guided tours.

Travelers also prefer to purchase and receive their tickets using a computer or mobile devices. The only exception to this is with sporting events in the U.S. where purchasing tickets through a ticket office was the second most popular method for purchasing tickets. It’s unclear why this is the case but it may be due to the fact that there is little need to purchase college level tickets in advance as they are readily available for last minute purchase. The exception seems to be for playoff and championship games where tickets become more scarce and more expensive.

Learn More About The Power of Events

Events have been and will continue to be an important driver for travel to destinations. Because of this, it makes sense for online travel agencies (OTAs) and other marketplaces to integrate event tickets into their inventory in order to capture demand. For destinations, this signals a clear opportunity to attract events in order to increase visitorship and cross promote local activities and experiences to travelers who are already planning on visiting for a specific event. And for operators, of course, the opportunities abound to attract more travelers to their experiences during times of increased visitation to their destinations.

After all, when Beyonce is in town, everyone including local tourism businesses might just experience a Renaissance.

Fans heading to the first of Taylor Swift’s sold-out Eras Tour shows this weekend are in for a treat. As the 'Fortnight' singer heads to Edinburgh for her first sting of concerts, a new Swiftie-themed food trail is launching in the city.

Around forty businesses are taking part in the all-new Edinburgh Taylored Taste Trail. There will be plenty of Swiftie-related treats fans (and non-fans) can indulge in.

Forever Edinburgh has dedicated a number of pages to all things Taylor Swift. Fans travelling to the city can check it out to know exactly where to go and what to do while visiting for the Eras Tour.

The Edinburgh Taylored Taste Trail will run over the weekend of the singer’s stint in the city. She will be performing three shows at Murrayfield Stadium this weekend (Friday, June 7 to Sunday, June 9).

There are 39 businesses taking part in the Edinburgh Taylored Taste Trail. Each will be offering customers Taylor Swift-inspired cocktails, mocktails, afternoon teas, coffees, ice-cream, deserts, and cupcakes inspired by her iconic songs.

Edinburgh Taylored Taste Trail

You can find the likes of Taylor’s fave pancake stack (double buckwheat pancakes, bacon, parmesan and fried egg) at Bonnie and Wild. Or sip on the singer’s favourite caramel latte at MILK Cafe and party with Capital FM and Brewhemia for a Taylor Swift brunch.

If you’re looking to fill your time with some sightseeing adventures, Forever Edinburgh has designed a Taylor Swift-curated itinerary with some of the city’s most famous spots. If you’re new to the Scottish capital, the site has also shared some top tips for visitors, too.

When it comes to her sell-out concert at Murrayfield Stadium, there’s no need to stress. For anyone attending the concert from near or far, take a look at this guide for everything you need to know about making your time in Edinburgh the smoothest.

St James Quarter is also hosting a free friendship bracelet making session for Swifties to deck out their wrists with the tour’s must have accessory. Read more here.

What do Taylor Swift and Event Planning Have in Common?

Andrea Doyle

Taylor Swift and her blockbuster Eras Tour offer event professionals valuable insights into community, inclusivity, engagement, and much more.

  • facebook icon

When you think of Taylor Swift, Time’s 2023 Person of the Year, chart-topping hits, sold-out stadium concerts, and her flourishing romance with Kansas City Chief superstar Travis Kelce probably come to mind. You may not immediately draw a connection between this iconic artist and the world of event planning. Nevertheless, they have more in common than you might expect.

Taylor Swift and her blockbuster Eras Tour offer valuable insights to event planners about creating unforgettable experiences. Fans rave about the show’s high-tech stagecraft and intimate moments. Event professionals should take note.

The 34-year-old Swift has received countless accolades for her shows, which feature elaborate productions with intricate lighting, sound systems, and stage setups for performances that span more than 180 minutes, with more than 40 songs from at least nine albums. There are 16 costume changes, pyrotechnics, and more.

But there is much more to her shows than impressive production. “She has the ability to connect with every single demographic and is inclusive, not exclusive,” says Jennifer Veselko, CITP, CMP Fellow, and event strategist at Maritz Global Events. And Veselko speaks beyond her professional interests. She has attended Swift’s last three tours, including Eras with her daughter Natalie, who is now 18. “She has the right message and energy that touches everyone in a special way. If we could all afford to contract her for every general session we do, we would. You can just feel her positivity.”

Selfie of Jennifer Veselko of Maritz Global Events and her daughter Natalie at an Eras tour concert in Cincinnati.

Breaking Records

The landmark Eras Tour is record-breaking. It was number one worldwide and in North America last year. According to Pollstar, a concert industry data company, it brought in $1.04 billion, with 4.35 million tickets sold across 60 tour dates.

Her concerts ignite significant economic booms in each city, similar to the economic impact of a citywide convention. Swift played in 20 cities — 53 nights of concerts — in the U.S., and according to the U.S. Travel Association, each Swift fan spent an average of $1,300 on travel, hotels, food, and merchandise. “Swiftonomics” could lead to a global economic impact worth $13 to $28 billion, reports U.S. Travel.

The impact a Taylor Swift concert has on a destination is similar to a Super Bowl.  “Eras tour average attendance is 75,000 per concert, and a Super Bowl is about 70,000 per event. The difference is a Swift event has about three concerts per city, not one,” says Ed Tiryakian, associate professor of corporate finance and business economics at Duke University.

Surprise and Delight

With unexpected songs and special guests, Swift knows how to thrill her audience. “Similarly, surprise and delight is a common theme that I weave through every single one of my events, and I have done that for decades,” says Kate Patay, CPCE, vice president of engagement at Terramar . Patay is a self-proclaimed Swiftie, having attended three Eras Tour shows in the U.S. from completely different perspectives — the front row, a first-level suite, and a third-tier balcony. “You are guaranteed a fabulous experience from every seat,” says Patay.

Patay’s next stop on the Eras Tour will be Paris this May. A group of industry colleagues will join her on their way to Frankfurt to attend IMEX.

Creating Community

Patay admires many things about Swift, including the sense of community she creates. “She designs an inclusive space for everyone, and there is such positive energy. Everyone compliments and supports each other, and there is not one ounce of negativity,” Patay says.

Swift is such an inspiration that Patay partnered with Tahira Endean on a session during IMEX 2022 about everything she has learned from Swift. Practical takeaways that can be applied to one’s personal or professional life were featured, says Patay. “Instead of a bunch of boring slides, the session features snippets of lyrics and situations in which Taylor showed great emotional intelligence,” Patay adds.

“ Evermore” a Story Teller

Swift captivates audiences with the power of storytelling, just like some of the best events that incorporate story elements into their overall messaging and branding.

“Her themed storytelling with narrative energy and purposeful flow translates to events,” says Ken Holsinger, senior vice president of strategy at Freeman.

Swifties are the driving force behind her success; they are not just spectators but active participants. In addition, “Easter eggs,” hidden messages, are discovered in her videos and appearances, keeping fans engaged. She also maximizes social media to communicate directly with her fans. And they love it. And respond.

Her mastery of engagement also involves surprising fans by unexpectedly revealing new music. At this year’s Grammy Awards, she shocked and delighted a global audience by announcing her new album, “The Tortured Poets Department.”

“How does she find the time?” many asked, as she has been touring the world and supporting her boyfriend at many Kansas City Chiefs games.

14 Grammy Awards

It was a record-breaking night for Swift, who won the Album of the Year Grammy. This makes her the first artist to win this category four times. In total, this global icon has won 14 Grammy awards.

She has cultivated a personal brand through her connection with her fans. Similarly, the best events connect with the audience.

Simon Thewlis, managing director of Event Pty, highlights how Swift connects with her fans before they see her live. ”When they get to the concert, most of her audience already has a very strong connection with her. That emotional connection is already there,” says Thewlis, adding that the concert only builds on it. “The lesson for those producing business events is to know your audience. Know what really resonates with them,” advises Thewlis. “And then be prepared to share your own story and relevant experiences with them in a very candid way. That’s what can create a really strong emotional connection and a really compelling event that can really move, inspire, and motivate an audience.”

The sense of community created is further enhanced with friendship bracelets traded by her fans at her concerts. So are LED wristbands, synchronized with Swift’s music, creating a stadium-wide light show.

Much of Taylor Swift’s magic is in the details. She pays meticulous attention to every lyric and musical note. Similarly, event professionals must be detail-driven. From selecting the appropriate venue to crafting agendas that appeal to attendees, the commitment to precision must be unwavering.

A Logistical Journey

Logistics are at the heart of what event professionals do, and logistics will be integral to getting Swift to the Super Bowl on February 11 to support Kelce. She will have to board a plane directly after her concert in Tokyo on February 10 to make it to Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on the 11th.

This critical transfer is so fraught that the U.S. Embassy of Japan weighed in, saying that if Swift departs Tokyo in the evening after her concert, she should comfortably arrive in Las Vegas before the Super Bowl begins.

🇯🇵 Statement from the Embassy of Japan on Taylor Swift’s Reported Travel from Japan to the United States ✈️🏈 Are you ready for it? pic.twitter.com/wFKadehTJk — Japan Embassy DC🌸 (@JapanEmbDC) February 2, 2024

This isn’t Swift’s first time in Allegiant Stadium. She performed at the stadium for two consecutive nights in March of 2023 in front of 60,000 screaming fans.

If the Chiefs win, there won’t be much time for celebrating as she has to be in Melbourne, Australia, for a February 16 concert.

Massive Undertaking

Transporting her stage between cities is a massive undertaking. Ninety semi-trucks transport her costumes, color-coded microphones, LED screens, speakers, lights, props, and instruments. Last but certainly not least, that illuminated stage had a catwalk almost the length of a Kansas City Chiefs football field.

event travel taylor swift

The old adage, “time is money,” applies to Swift concerts as much as conventions and events. Load-in and load-out must be as efficient as possible, says Brandon Goodman, VP of project management at Encore. Leveraging some of his skills as a former squad leader in the U.S. Army, Goodman has developed efficiencies for big production conferences, such as “kitting” materials together.

In addition, another production tip for efficiency is treating your production partners as team members with on-site meals and comfortable overnight rooms in or near the venue.

“Anything that makes the day easier for the production team means we have more time to accommodate changes and on-site requests with fresh eyes and full stomachs,” Goodman says. “For shows to work like clockwork, communication, collaboration, and trust have to be high. Think about how you’re building a team among teams.”

Concert Film a Hit

Swift knows what goes into orchestrating blockbuster concerts and memorable events. The AMC theater in Los Angeles’ The Grove shopping center was shut down for the premiere of Swift’s concert film, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour. Thirteen screens were used, and Swift went into each theater to personally thank her fans while popcorn was served in custom containers featuring the Eras poster. This kind of creative thinking can be just the start of your own Fearless production.

At the beginning of February, Swift’s management team filed a trademark application for the term “Taylor-Con.” Fans are speculating about whether a fan convention is in the works. The application included using the trademark for “arranging, organizing, conducting and hosting social entertainment events.”

Additionally, audiovisual equipment is an important element in Swift’s Eras Tour and virtually all events. Massive LED video walls are at the heart of Swift’s Eras tour, but today’s AV options mean planners can light up their own productions in ways unimaginable just a few years ago. Plus, with creativity, these options can be cost-effective.

By embracing the “Taylor Swift Effect,” events will transform and “Shake it Off,” adding the necessary elements to keep attendees engaged.

Scottish Rugby have created two official drop-off locations to the North of the stadium, both of these on Costorphine Road. Please pay particular attention to the fact that you will not be able to collect from this location at the end of the show as there will be a road closure in place.

If you are approaching the stadium from the south, there are two additional 2 drop off points; one located at Balgreen Road, near to Gorgie Road and a second on Russel Road. You will be able to collect people from these two locations after the show, but remember traffic will be extremely heavy on all streets around the stadium.

Please do not attempt to drop off or collect concert goers at any other location. There will be extensive road closures around the stadium, and using unofficial locations will only increase congestion.

Please plan your journey in advance and consider whether you can get to and from the stadium by public transport, on foot, or by using Lothian Buses’ Park & Ride services.

GETTING TO SCOTTISH GAS MURRAYFIELD

For anyone looking to drop people off or collect them please make sure you only use the designated drop off points – these have been created to allow plans to be made for drop off an collections and take into account road closures around the stadium.

For awareness, due to the numbers of people attending the concerts there are various road closures and parking restrictions in place around the stadium. With this in mind we strongly discourage early drop offs around the stadium as you will not be able to return to that same location at the end of the night – also please note that vehicles on surrounding roads in close proximity to the stadium will be held until roads are re-opened so please plan ahead accordingly.

As a reminder the stadium is located in a residential area and as such we request that you be mindful of driveways, access roads and traffic restrictions in the vicinity.

Respect our Neighbours and the Environment

We have mixed recycling bins located around the stadium and we urge people to use these to dispose of any recyclable waste they have.

Furthermore we urge people to be mindful of the impact that any accessories purchased and worn on show days can have on the environment and surrounding neighbourhood.

The taylor swift impact – 5 months and $5+ billion.

September 19, 2023 By U.S. Travel Association

You’ve likely heard that Taylor Swift recently completed the U.S.-based first leg of her Eras Tour, but have you heard about the impact that tour had on local communities and economies across the United States? We lay it out below.

Setting the stage: Concerts, professional sports games and other major events—and the large number of out-of-town visitors they attract—have always provided an economic boost to host cities, bringing in an influx of customers to businesses that cater to travelers.

  • While the economic impact of every event depends on multiple factors, a commonly used multiplier is that $100 spent on live performances generates about $300 in other expenses including spending on hotels, food and transportation.

Unprecedented impact: Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour went to 20 U.S. cities, and the concertgoers far outpaced typical spending patterns . Swift fans––“Swifties”––averaged $1,300 of spending in local economies on travel, hotel stays, food, as well as merchandise and costumes.

  • That amount of spending is on par with the Super Bowl, but this time it happened on 53 different nights in 20 different locations over the course of five months. Downtowns across the country have enjoyed an influx of visitors—and a spending boost thanks to Taylor Swift.

Total Economic Impact: A well-cited study by Question Pro , calculates that Swifties have already directly spent around $5 billion in destinations around the country. U.S. Travel has confirmed that––though referred to as economic impact––this is a lowball figure, which carefully adds up direct spending by fans.

  • We believe that the total economic impact likely exceeded $10 billion. The total economic impact includes indirect spending as well as spending by others who came to join the action around the events but did not actually attend the shows.

Localized impact: While many attendees were local, each concert also drew a significant number of visitors who in addition to attending the concert, spent multiple days in the destination. Cities around the country experienced record high occupancy rates and bustling downtowns over the concert weekends.

Here’s a look at the local impact on some of the cities in the tour:

  • Pittsburgh’s two concerts generated $46 million in direct spending, with 83% of those attending the concerts coming from outside Alleghany County . Hotel occupancy––the highest weekend occupancy post pandemic and the second highest weekend occupancy on record––averaged at 95% and pushed average daily room rates (ADR) to $309, a 106% increase.
  • Los Angeles —which hosted six shows that marked the end of the first part of the tour—benefited from a total economic impact of $320 million , with 3,300 jobs created, $20 million in sales and local sales tax and another $9 million in hotel room taxes.
  • Denver’s two concerts resulted in visitor spending that contributed an estimated $140 million to the state’s GDP .
  • Cincinnati’s impact was estimated at $48 million, of which $20 million was from out of town guests .

What else: With 53 U.S. concerts so far, Taylor Swift’s shows may have produced the strongest economic impact for a concert tour. But when it comes to average spending per show, Question Pro shared that concertgoers of another tour, Beyonce’s Renaissance Tour, have even exceeded Swifties’ spending by $300 , with an average spending that exceeded $1,800! These fans also have produced an economic impact in the billions of dollars.

Why it matters: Swift and Beyonce fans are the most recent eventgoers to have demonstrated the power of events in driving travel to destinations, and in doing so, contributing to and boosting local economies. Concerts, sporting games and large-scale events provide incredible opportunities for cities to showcase themselves and hopefully drive repeat visitation.

The bottom line: Travel is an economic engine, which supports businesses and communities each and every day.

Travis Kelce Is Reportedly ‘Arranging His Schedule’ to Be With Taylor Swift in Europe as Much as He Can

preview for Taylor Swift’s Iconic Career Evolution

Every item on this page was chosen by an ELLE editor. We may earn commission on some of the items you choose to buy.

“He wants to support her as much as he can while he can, so he’s going to [go] back and forth from the U.S. to Europe while he has the time,” the source said. Swift and Kelce, who just vacationed in Lake Como, Italy , after her Paris shows , are having a “wonderful time in Europe so far.” Kelce flew back to Kansas City, Missouri, after the Italy trip and hosted Kelce Jam there last weekend.

He also already wrapped filming for his role on Ryan Murphy’s upcoming series Grotesquerie, Us Weekly reported. A second source said on May 23 that Kelce “had an incredible time” and found it “surprising” that he even got the offer to join the show.

With that work commitment behind him, he “can arrange his schedule to be with [Taylor],” the first source said. That insider added that he and Swift plan to do some home décor shopping in Europe: “They love going antique shopping, and she’s been helping him pick out some things for his new house in Kansas.”

Liverpool Council sets up Taylor Swift 'working group' to map out Eras Tour Anfield travel plans

Liverpool Council is planning months in advance for the arrival of Taylor Swift and the Eras Tour, with Anfield set to host its biggest musical act to date.

This summer, Taylor Swift is coming to Anfield, home of Liverpool Football Club, as part of her worldwide Eras Tour. It sees her perform a selection of hits from across her entire discography, with none of the last four albums having been individually toured due to the impact of the pandemic.

Anfield will host three nights of the Eras Tour from June 13-15. Swift had initially been scheduled to perform there twice, but a third night was added due to the scale of demand.

Transport to the stadium will be a major logistical challenge, with Anfield situated outside of Liverpool's city center. To that end, the council has already formed a working group, having bestowed the codename Taylor Town on the event ( BBC ).

Public transport is a focus of the working group, with no parking to be provided at the stadium. One option on the table is to use the Soccerbus service that runs on Liverpool matchdays.

This departs from Sandhills Station on the Merseyrail Northern Line. It runs from two hours before kick-off in Liverpool's home league and cup games, with the final service around 15 minutes before the game gets underway — though if it is used for the Eras Tour, timings will be confirmed closer to the event.

The council's working group will also look at safeguarding issues, with the audience expected to contain numerous young people. All three nights of the Eras Tour at Anfield are sellouts.

A general view of Anfield Stadium, home to Liverpool Football Club.

Liverpool's home ground has undergone an expansion since it last hosted any musical acts. Work on the Anfield Road End is still ongoing, having been partially opened since December, but it is expected to be complete well in advance of the summer. Per This is Anfield , it could operate at full capacity as early as February 10.

Liverpool.com says: Of course, Anfield is no stranger to hosting massive events. Most of them have come courtesy of Jürgen Klopp and his Liverpool team — good luck topping the 4-0 win over Barcelona , Taylor. But the scale of this concert should not be underestimated. As well as being great for me — as a Liverpool and Taylor Swift fan — it's a major coup for FSG .

Liverpool first got permission to host concerts at Anfield in 2018. Much like Swift, the club has seen its plans somewhat put on hold by the pandemic, but it has nonetheless managed to host some big names including Bon Jovi, The Rolling Stones, Elton John and Pink.

Yet it would be fair to say that the Eras Tour is the biggest of the lot. Demand for tickets has been huge, and the council is certainly right to be getting plans for transport in place well in advance.

Indianapolis’s Short-Term Rentals Are Having a Banner Year. Thank Taylor Swift and the Total Eclipse.

I ndiana resident and real-estate investor Jim Borthwick was in the middle of a game of pickleball in August 2023 when news broke that Taylor Swift was going to be playing three shows in Indianapolis in November 2024.

He took out his phone, pulled up his highest-earning short-term rental in the city and raised the nightly rates during the week of the concerts. To quickly updated the prices before someone booked it, he picked the first number that came to his mind: $2,600.

The home typically rents for around $400 to $650 a night.

“I threw a pie in the sky,” said Borthwick, who planned to adjust the rate down after pickleball.

But by the time his match was over, the five-bedroom home in the Old Southside neighborhood of the city, which Borthwick leases from the owner and operates as a short-term rental, was booked. His guests are attending all three of the concerts, he said. From Oct. 31 to Nov. 4, the short-term rental is making a staggering $10,257 after taxes and fees, compared with the $2,600 it made from those same nights in 2023. Spanning roughly 2,100 square feet, Borthwick said the home doesn’t have any amenities out of the ordinary. Instead, its size and location, which is less than a mile from where the pop star will be playing, is what makes it a big hitter.

Indianapolis, a city with about 900,000 residents, a number of large event venues, pro sports teams and a location in the heart of the U.S., has long hosted popular annual events, such as the Indianapolis 500 and the Gen Con gaming convention, but it has never seen anything like 2024.

A literal cosmic confluence of events, including a total solar eclipse, the arrival of a newly minted women’s basketball star, the NBA All-Star game, Olympic trials and the National Eucharistic Congress, means that over 32 million people are expected to visit Indianapolis in 2024, a tourism record, according to Chris Gahl, the executive vice president of Visit Indy, the city’s tourism agency.

It’s shaping up to be a blockbuster year for Indianapolis’s short-term rental market as a result, according to Jamie Lane of AirDNA, a short-term rental data and analytics firm. There were 96,078 nightly stays in the first-quarter of 2024, Lane said, the highest number ever recorded in the city’s first-quarter period. That compares with around 80,000 in both Q1 2023 and in Q1 2019.

The year’s run up took off in February, with the number of short-term rental nightly stays up 55.8% compared with the same time last year thanks to the NBA All-Star game. It was the first time the city hosted the game since 1985. Borthwick said his Old Southside short-term rental brought in $1,700 after taxes and fees over game weekend.

In March, the NCAA, which is based in Indianapolis, held the first and second round of the Division 1 Men’s Basketball Championship in the city for the first time since 2022. This helped drive the number of March’s short-term rental nights up 24.6% compared with March 2023.

That month, the city was also the site of the NCAA Division 1 Men’s Swimming and Diving championships from March 27 to March 30 for the first time since 2017.

On April 8, the day that the totality of the solar eclipse passed over the city, there were around 3,600 short-term nightly stays, the most ever recorded on a single day in Indianapolis, according to Lane. The event drove year-over-year demand growth in April to 41.9%.

On May 26, the city hosts the annual Indianapolis 500, the largest single-day sporting event in the world with an anticipated 330,000 attendees this year. Around 40% of them will be from out of state, according to Doug Boles, track president at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, where the race takes place.

Manny Lagmay, a local cybersecurity adviser in the healthcare industry, has booked his Star-Wars-themed house in the Broad Ripple neighborhood of the city for an average of $407 on the weekend of the Indy 500 this year, up from his typical nightly rate of around $220.

Also in May, the NBA’s Indiana Pacers faced off against the New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference semifinals at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse arena, which can seat around 18,000. The Pacers advanced to the Conference finals on May 19, which brings them back to the Fieldhouse for additional games. On May 16, former Women’s NCAA basketball star Caitlin Clark made her regular season home debut with the WNBA’s Indiana Fever, which also plays at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse. As of May 6, expected nightly stays for the month are up 28.7% compared with May 2023.

Cailtin Clark got drafted on April 15 and on April 16, Lagmay said he had his home booked for a Fever game in May.

While the summer is typically a strong season for Indianapolis’s short-term rental market, demand is pacing exceptionally high this summer because of the 2024 U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials in June, which will bring around 250,000 visitors to the city over the course of about a week, said Gahl. Expected short-term rental nights for June are up 66.8% over that of June 2023.

In July, Indianapolis will host the National Eucharistic Congress. It will be the first time the National Congress has been held in the United States since 1941. The event, at the Lucas Oil Stadium, is expected to attract about 100,000 people to the city, said Gahl. Short-term rental demand in July is pacing a staggering 71.4% above July 2023, according to Lane.

The banner year will end with Taylor Swift, whose concerts will likely turn November into one of the strongest months that the Indianapolis tourism industry has ever seen, according to Gahl. Expected short-term rental demand in November is already trending 143.6% above that in November 2023, according to Lane. Some investors haven’t yet opened their bookings for the event.

In addition to demand, short-term rental supply in Indianapolis has been on the rise. The first quarter of 2024 had 4,440 short-term listings on the market, which is 27% more than the 3,494 in the first quarter of 2023.

Total supply in 2023 outpaced demand by 11.8%, according to Lane. But this year, demand is just about keeping up. During the first quarter of 2024, demand jumped by 24% year over year. Lane expects demand to drop in 2025 because of all the one-off events in 2024, but it should remain higher than demand in 2023 and 2019.

But while supply is expected to continue to grow, Lane doesn’t see Indianapolis heading toward the bloated inventory that other markets, such as Joshua Tree in California, are currently experiencing.

Borthwick and Lagmay have homes in Indianapolis that are dedicated to short-term rentals, but, says Lane from AirDNA, there hasn’t been a massive wave of short-term rental investors buying up homes to rent, which is what happened in Joshua Tree. Instead, supply tends to expand around big events in Indianapolis because people list their personal residences on short-term rental platforms. Once the event is over, they take their homes off and supply retracts, he said.

Lagmay, 41, who bought his short-term rental two years ago, said the home has been booked every weekend since he listed it on the market in December 2022. The three-bedroom home spans roughly 1,100 square feet. It has subtle Star Wars decor, including a Star Wars Atari arcade cabinet, and a fenced-in dog park with a bench and a dog agility seesaw. He believes the home’s family-friendly theme and amenities help it stand out from others.

Borthwick, 37, has owned and co-invested in short-term rentals in Indianapolis for about a decade. He said 2024 will be his most profitable year yet. He also hosts meetups for other short-term rental investors in the city and said supply is a regular conversation among investors. “There’s always going to be a level of trepidation about short-term rentals flooding the market,” he said.

Indianapolis’s short-term rental market is booming with unprecedented demand thanks to a string of one-off events taking place in 2024.

Travis Kelce awkwardly dodges question about when he’s proposing to Taylor Swift

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce dodged a major question at a charity event over the weekend about where his romance with pop sensation Taylor Swift is going.

The relationship between Kelce and Swift, both 34, has captured the hearts of millions of fans, and rumors have swirled about whether the two may tie the knot.

At the annual Big Slick Celebrity Weekend charity fundraiser in Kansas City, Missouri, on Saturday, comedian Jason Sudeikis asked Kelce during a reprise of the beloved “Saturday Night Live” skit “Bill Swerski’s Superfans,” “When are you going to make an honest woman out of her?” referring to Swift.

The crowd hooted and cheered as Kelce laughed awkwardly without saying anything.

“Taylor doesn’t need to be working anymore, and, again, I know your kicker agrees with me. He gets it,” Sudeikis added.

His joke referred Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker’s controversial comments in a recent commencement speech at Benedictine College that women were “most excited” about marriage and bearing children over personal careers.

“Guys, you’re really pushing it,” Kelce responded during the skit.

Another comedian onstage responded: “Oh, look who’s losing it. Just like you did in the Super Bowl!” as the crowd laughed. That was in reference to Kelce’s tantrum at the Super Bowl in February when he bumped into Chiefs coach Andy Reid, a move he apologized for .

Earlier in the skit, the men joked that Swift could pay for a new stadium.

“Hey guys, here’s what I’m thinking. Want a new stadium? Maybe Travis here could ask Taylor to foot the bill,” joked Robert Smigel, acting as Carl Wollarski.

“Hey, how about we all pipe down a little bit,” Kelce responded. “That ain’t happening.”

“Come on. What’s a few hundred million to Taylor? That’s what four tickets cost to her concert anyways,” said George Wendt, as Bob Swerski.

“She just got to Kansas City, boys,” Kelce responded.

Rumors swirled about the star couple’s romance last summer, and they went public in September when Swift attended a Chiefs game against the Chicago Bears.

As Chiefs head to the White House, will Travis Kelce's lucky charm Taylor Swift be there?

event travel taylor swift

WASHINGTON — Will she or won’t she?

President Joe Biden welcomes the Kansas City Chiefs to the White House on Friday to celebrate their Super Bowl win. But people will keep their eyes peeled to see if Taylor Swift, who is dating the team’s tight end Travis Kelce, makes it to the event.

For White House Swifties who are hoping their reigning queen of pop makes an appearance, it’s guaranteed to be “The Best Day.”

At a recent press briefing, Karine Jean-Pierre, the White House press secretary did not confirm the attendance. However, she wasn’t coy about the buzz the prospect of a Swift visit had generated.

“I think the Swifties behind these double doors are hoping that Taylor Swift makes an appearance,” Jean-Pierre said with a laugh. “I can’t speak to her schedule, but I know there’s a lot of interest in this building and on campus.”

While these celebrations of athletes are meant to be nonpolitical, politics have colored these events before.

In 2018, then-President Donald Trump − and current GOP presumptive nominee − disinvited that year's Super Bowl winners, the Philadelphia Eagles, from a victory celebration at the White House. The team refused to promise that all players will stand with hand on heart for the national anthem, as Trump had insisted.

If she were to make an appearance, some may also read more into Swift's visit. In 2020, she endorsed the president one month before the election. So far, she has not issued a public endorsement for the 2024 presidential election.

But many believe Swift, who was Time Person of Year 2023, has the clout to change the outcomes of elections.

In a post on X, Hollywood director Rob Reiner said he would "give anything" for Swift to endorse Biden for re-election publicly. Other including, right-wing commentator Jack Posobiec questioned the Swift-Kelce pairing , insinuating their relationship was a PR-driven effort  designed to boost the NFL  and bolster to turn out among white liberal female voters for Biden.

Others have gone as far as to speculate that Swift is a Pentagon plant. Conspiracy theories abound.

Even Trump weighed in, saying he had done so much for her and other musicians referencing legislation he signed in 2018 meant to modernize copyright laws. He wrote "there's no way" she could endorse Biden and be and "be disloyal to the man who made her so much money. "

Of course, Swift's influence has been well documented. In September of 2023, Swift posted a short message on Instagram Stories, encouraging her 272 million followers to vote. According to Vote.org, more than 35,000 registrations were recorded following Swift’s post.

Earlier this year, the Chiefs secured a victory in Super Bowl LVIII against the San Francisco 49ers won for the third time in five years and becoming the first team to win back-to back Super Bowl championship since the New England Patriots almost two decades ago.

Swift, who attended a total of 13 (her lucky number) Chiefs games − of which the team won 10 − has earned the status of a good luck charm for the team.

The songstress, who is currently touring Europe as part of her “Eras Tour” played in Madrid, Spain, on Thursday night and is due back in Lyon, France, on Sunday. That does offer a short window to make it to the White House.

The tradition of sports teams visiting the White House dates back to at least Aug. 30, 1865, when President Andrew Johnson welcomed the Brooklyn Atlantics and Washington Nationals amateur baseball clubs, according to Thomas Nuemann of ESPN. Ulysses S. Grant played host to the first professional baseball team, the Cincinnati Red Stockings, in 1869.

The Pittsburgh Steelers were the first Super Bowl champion to visit, joining the World Series-winning Pittsburgh Pirates in a dual ceremony with Jimmy Carter in February of 1980.
