About Korn:

Korn changed the world with the release of their self-titled debut album in 1994. It was a record that would pioneer a genre, and blur others-leading into a larger cultural movement. Since forming, Korn has sold more than 40 million albums worldwide, collected two Grammys, toured the world countless times, and set many records in the process that will likely never be surpassed. Korn has continued to push the limits of the rock, alternative and metal genres, while remaining a pillar of influence for legions of fans, and generations of artists around the globe.

The level of Korn’s reach transcends accolades and platinum certifications. They are “a genuine movement in a way bands cannot be now,” attests The Ringer. They represent a new archetype and radical innovation, their ability to transcend genre makes barriers seem irrelevant.

About Gojira:

Gojira bend extremes to their whim, emerging as an entrancing enigma equally driven by intuition and intensity. Balancing metallic proficiency, primal grooves, and otherworldly melodies, the French quartet continue to facilitate heavy music’s progression into the future by burning down all boundaries. As such, they’ve unassumingly risen to the forefront of the genre as quiet trailblazers. Thus far, they’ve earned three GRAMMY® Award nominations and even claimed a coveted spot on Rolling Stone ‘s “100 Greatest Metal Albums of All Time” with 2005’s landmark From Mars To Sirius . Their catalog spans groundbreaking records such as L’Enfant Sauvage [2012], Magma [2016], and their most recent studio album Fortitude [2021]. With restless creativity and infinite vision, Gojira always inspire thought, awaken passion, and incite catharsis as heavy music’s most unconventional, yet undeniable force.

Korn have announced a tour of the United States this summer.

The 28-show run will launch August 5th at the iTHINK Financial Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach, Florida, and wrap September 21st at the Dos Equis Pavilion in Dallas, Texas. Staind will serve as support throughout the run, and both bands will also play the Louder Than Life festival in Louisville, Kentucky, on September 23rd.

Tickets for all dates are scheduled to go on sale May 14th at 12 p.m. local time via Live Nation. A pre-sale will start May 13th at 10 a.m. local time.

Korn’s 2021 tour comes after the band was forced to cancel their planned 2020 run with Faith No More due to the pandemic. Korn released their most recent album, The Nothing , in 2019, while last summer they dropped a cover of Charlie Daniels’ “The Devil Went Down to Georgia,” in honor of the country star following his death.

Korn and Evanescence Announce Summer 2022 US Tour

The post Korn and Evanescence Announce Summer 2022 US Tour appeared first on Consequence .

Two of rock’s longstanding powerhouse acts, Korn and Evanescence , are teaming up for a 2022 US tour. This summer, the two bands will hit the road for a month-long late outing.

The 18-city tour begins August 16th at Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado, and runs through a September 16th show at the RV Inn Style Resorts Amphitheater in Ridgefield, Washington.

Tickets for the show go on sale to the general public beginning Friday (April 8th) at 10 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster , but a special Consequence pre-sale runs Thursday (April 7th) from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. local time using the code KORNEV22 .

“We’re looking forward to going on tour this summer and bringing our friends, Evanescence, out,” said Korn singer Jonathan Davis. “Whenever Amy [Lee] comes to one of our shows, I always love seeing her on the side of the stage watching the whole set and rocking out. We’re gonna have a great time on this tour, and we can’t wait to see you there.”

Evanescence’s Amy Lee added, “I fell hard into Korn’s music in high school. It was an inspiration during the formation of my own band. The chances we’ve had to play together over the years are special, a part of our history. They remain one of the best live bands I’ve ever seen. It’s an honor and a thrill to go out with our friends again, our first full tour together since ‘07. We’re all really looking forward to this.”

Korn will be out in support of their recently released 2022 album, Requiem , the nu-metal pioneers’ 14th studio LP. Meanwhile, Evanescence are touring behind 2021’s The Bitter Truth , which marked the band’s first album of new material in 10 years.

The two bands will be joined by as-yet-unnamed various support acts throughout the tour. See the dates below, and pick up tickets here .

Recent tour reviews

Terrible show and a massive disappointment.

There were no warnings before entering the venue about use of strobe lights, and I didn't see any signs indicating use of strobe lights at all. As a result, I was caught off guard by the use of the strobes and felt sick for a couple of days afterwards.

The show itself used a lot of strong coloured lights to illuminate the stage too, which combined with the smoke machine, as someone who is colour blind meant that I could not see the stage for 80% of the show. The times I could, my eyes were hurting too much from the strobes to see anything.

So overall, it was a massive let down for a band I have wanted to see live for many years.

With their sound system and great instrumentation all locked into a great groove, Korn are better than they ever were before! As to any wild antics, the one that stood out that was unfortunately unfavourable entailed a nasty woman whom I called out after she attempted to shoehorn her way up to the front where I'd staked out a spot and then subsequently attacked my husband. Hiccups of that nature along with a moderate delay with no explanation nonetheless paid off, in particular with Jonathan Davis as he serenaded us on the bagpipes upon kicking off 'Shoots and Ladders'! Not only that but the pre-concert meet/greet was super as was a little recognition in the form of a point and smile from Munky Shaffer up front toward the end of the night!

Korn was Great as always ,I was kind of suprised that they place wasnt packed. The deadest Korn concert I have ever gone to.But it could be the Venue .Not the best venue in my opnion .One dont dare forget to get your ticket from your spouse or they wont let you back to your seat ..and 2 if you go out one way you wont be able to get back the same way necessarily like what happened to me.They wont let you. .Knotfest was packed and alot crazier then this place but I never got asked for my ticket to get back to my seat.Considering people were seat hoping all night anyways and they upgraded a bunch if not all the lawn area to seating ..Pretty damn dumb .I figure if I own a seat and someone sits in it.I just get it back .Pretty damn strict for a place that has never really been a popular venue and sure wasnt packed last night .

Korn Announce 2024 North American Tour With Gojira + Spiritbox

After a day of teasing, Korn have revealed that they'll be hitting the road later this year with Gojira and Spiritbox .

Earlier this year, the band announced a stadium show in Los Angeles to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their self-titled debut album . But it appears that was just the beginning of their 2024 plans as the group issued a teaser on social media on Monday (March 25) that something else was on the horizon.

The short video featured a group of silhouetted figures standing on a mountain top watching an avalanche occurring on a neighboring mountain. The brief clip was soundtracked by dark and ominous sounding audio. Was it new music? More tour dates? Or something entirely different?

What Were Korn Teasing?

It's now official. Korn will be hitting the road in September with Gojira and Spiritbox. The tour will kick off Sept. 12 at MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Amphitheatre in Tampa, crossing the country before wrapping up in St. Paul, MN at Xcel Energy Center on Oct. 27.

Tickets will be available starting with a Citi presale (details below) and artist presale beginning Tuesday, March 26. Additional pre-sales will run throughout the week ahead of the general on sale beginning Friday, March 29 at 10AM local time at ticketmaster.com . You can also access ticketing through the band's website .

Citi is the official card of Korn’s 2024 Tour. Citi cardmembers will have access to presale tickets beginning Tuesday, March 26 at 12PM local time until Thursday, March 28 at 10PM local time through the Citi Entertainment program. For complete presale details visit www.citientertainment.com .

What Else Is On Korn's 2024 Schedule?

As previously stated, Korn have booked Los Angeles' BMO Stadium for Saturday, Oct. 5, with plans to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their self-titled debut album. This stadium show is a jam-packed day filled with sets from Evanescence, Gojira, Daron Malakian and Scars on Broadway, Spiritbox and Vended all playing before the headliners.

"Reflecting on 30 years of Korn fills me with such immense gratitude for our journey, the growth we've experienced, and the incredible bond we share with our fans," said singer Jonathan Davis . "It's humbling to see how our music has touched so many lives across the globe. From our small club beginnings to now headlining stadiums, it's been an unforgettable ride, and we owe it all to our amazing, undying, loyal community that's made it possible. I’m really looking forward to this incredible night to celebrate together."

The band is also scheduled to play the Louder Than Life Festival in September and they have a summer tour of the U.K. and Europe booked as well .

Korn Ferry Tour's Memorial Health Championship returns this week. All you need to know

korn tour dallas

Last year, Paul Barjon held off Jackson Suber to win the Korn Ferry Tour's Memorial Health Championship , presented by LRS, at Panther Creek Country Club by a stroke in an exciting — albeit, weather-delayed — finish.

It was Barjon's first win on the Korn Ferry Tour in three years. That win helped catapult the French native onto the PGA Tour this season.

Who will be the next player to win Springfield and possibly earn a PGA Tour card? That question will be answered at the conclusion of the final round on Sunday. But there are enough questions that can be answered ahead of time.

Tickets to the event

Free tickets are available at https://www.memorialhealthchampionship.com , courtesy of Visit Springfield . Those tickets are good for one of the tournament's four days, starting on Thursday. Those tickets also provide spectators access to the terrace on the clubhouse patio and the bleachers on the 18th green.

A different alternative for fans who have a competitive itch themselves might be the VIP gaming lounge. For $150 per person, per day, tickets to the private gaming lounge between the Nos. 9 and 18 greens include a lunch buffet and alcohol.

Schedule of events

On Wednesday, the LRS Pro-Am will take place. The course is closed to the public.

On Thursday and Friday, there are two sessions. The first tee times, on either the No. 1 or No. 10 hole, will be from 6:45 a.m. until 8:45 a.m. The afternoon tee times will go from 11:55 a.m. until 1:55 p.m.

Tee times for Saturday and Sunday begin at 7:10 a.m. from the No. 1 tee. The champion will be crowned immediately following Sunday's final round.

Park and ride

Fans need to park at Landmark Ford , at 2401 Prairie Crossing Dr., in Springfield. Air-conditioned shuttle busses will drop fans off at Panther Creek and give fans a ride back to their vehicles after the event. Parking is free. The shuttles begin providing transportation at 6 a.m. The final shuttle leaves Panther Creek an hour after play ends each day.

Weather forecast

According to the National Weather Service in Lincoln , as of Tuesday, fans can expect to enjoy sun and an 84-degree high temperature on Thursday. On Friday, the high increases to 88 with a 40% chance of thunderstorms with 60% chance of storms overnight. On Saturday, temperatures could reach nearly 90 degrees with a 50% chance of storms. Sunday could cool down to a high of 82 with mostly sunny conditions.

On-site purchases

All concession stands will accept cash or card. However, there will be no ATM on the golf course grounds. No outside food or drink will be allowed.

What not to bring

The PGA Tour has a bag policy. Clear gallon bags, clear bags smaller than 12"x6"x12" and other, non-see through bags smaller than 6"x6"x6". For more information, go to the spectator information page on the tournament website .

Illini golfers among top names to follow for the 2024 Memorial Health Championship

The Memorial Health Championship presented by LRS returns to Panther Creek Country Club Thursday through Sunday.

Originally the Lincoln Land Charity Championship beginning in 2016, the local Korn Ferry Tour tournament has routinely yielded blistering low rounds. Especially the last three years.

All you need to know: Korn Ferry Tour's Memorial Health Championship returns this week

Past champions Paul Haley II (2022) and Taylor Moore  (2021) each possess the tournament record with a 27-under-par total over four rounds, while last year’s winner, Paul Barjon , went 26-under.

Springfield, of course, has welcomed other notable names before distinguishing themselves on the PGA Tour (and LIV). That includes Xander Schauffele, who won the PGA Championship this year.

Here are some golfers to follow this weekend:

Harry Higgs

The 32-year-old New Jersey native produced back-to-back wins in the AdventHealth Championship in Kansas City and Visit Knoxville Open during the month of May. He recently tied for fourth place in the Compliance Solutions Championship and is ranked second overall on the KFT points standings. The Southern Methodist University grad has previously made a number of appearances on the PGA Tour, including fourth place in the 2021 PGA Championship.

Teams of the Year: Glenwood cross country, Rochester football, Lincoln hoops win state

Steven Fisk

The 27-year-old Atlanta, Georgia native notched his first career win via playoff in the Club Car Championship in early April. The Georgia Southern University alum immediately followed with second place in the LECOM Suncoast Classic after losing a three-man playoff to Tim Widing, who has already achieved PGA Tour membership status for 2025 as the KFT’s top-ranked golfer and will not be among the field this weekend. Fisk is currently ranked third overall.

Jackson Buchanan

The incoming senior at University of Illinois will make his KFT debut after receiving a sponsor exemption. He is the reigning Big Ten Golfer of the Year after posting two individual wins and going runnerup in the Big Ten Championship. Other former Illini will join the field, including Brian Campbell (2015), Dylan Meyer (2019) and Michael Feagles (2021). Campbell is ranked No. 11 in the point standings, including a playoff loss to Kevin Velo in the Astara Golf Championship in February. Campbell most recently took eighth in the Compliance Solutions Championship after making the cut at the U.S. Open.

Frankie Capan III

The 24-year-old out of Stillwater, Minnesota recently made the cut at the U.S. Open and ultimately finished 41 st . He is currently ranked 12 th in the point standings with four top 10 finishes on the KFT this season but is still searching for his first career professional victory.

Paul Haley II

The 36-year-old Dallas, Texas native returns to the tournament, along with previous winners Brett Drewitt (2020) and Xinjun Zhang (2019). He has made 58 appearances on the PGA Tour.

Pro golf week ahead: Miles Russell of Jacksonville Beach ready for PGA Tour debut in Detroit

It's Motor City time for Miles.

Miles Russell, the 15-year-old Jacksonville Beach golf prodigy, will add to his long list of accomplishments at a very young age when he plays in the PGA Tour's Rocket Mortgage Classic this week at the Detroit Golf Club. Russell received a sponsor invitation for his first PGA Tour start and also will play the Tour's Butterfield Bermuda Open in November, a perk for winning the AJGA's Player of the Year award for 2023.

Russell will tee off No. 10 of the Donald Ross-designed course at 2:11 p.m. on Thursday and at No. 1 at 8:57 a.m. on Friday. His playing partners will be PGA Tour members Pierceson Coody and Rico Hoey.

Coody, the twin brother of Parker Coody (also in the field) has made seven of 15 cuts this season and tied for fifth last month at the Schwab Challenge in Fort Worth. Hoey, a native of the Philippines, has made six of 17 cuts, and also had his best finish in Texas with a tie for 14th at the Valero Texas Open.

Russell has played two Korn Ferry Tour events this season. He got a sponsor invitation for the LECOM Suncoast Classic in Lakewood Ranch and became the youngest player to make the cut on the Korn Ferry Tour, and then posted a tie for 20th, which earned a spot the following week in the Veritex Bank Championship near Dallas.

Russell missed the cut in that event but shot 4-under for two rounds. Counting a 67 in a Monday qualifier for the PGA Tour's event in Puerto Rico (Russell lost in a four-for-one playoff for the fourth qualifying spot) he has broken par in all seven of his rounds in professional tournaments and shot in the 60s in five of the seven. His scoring average in pro events is 67.85.

“Korn Ferry was pretty cool,” Russell told pgatour.com. “So I can only imagine what a PGA Tour event is.”

John Daly II makes Korn Ferry Tour debut in Oklahoma

Change Text Size

Editor's note: John Daly II shot a 4-over 76 in Round 1 of the Compliance Solutions Championship.

John Daly II has spent his life around the game of golf, learning “what to do and what not to do,” he joked Tuesday.

This week, he’ll apply those learnings for the first time in a PGA TOUR-sanctioned event. Daly II, son of two-time major champion John Daly, will compete at the Korn Ferry Tour’s Compliance Solutions Championship on a sponsor exemption. His dad can’t be there; he’s competing at PGA TOUR Champions’ DICK’S Open on a course (En-Joie GC) where he won the TOUR’s 1992 B.C. Open. But he’ll be supporting from afar.

The elder Daly encouraged his son to “grip it and rip it" this week in Norman, Oklahoma, and although Daly II utilizes a different playing style than his dad – one of pro golf’s most colorful characters for the last three decades – that fatherly wisdom will serve him well inside the ropes in his Korn Ferry Tour debut.

“I’ve learned basically everything about the game of golf through him,” Daly II said this week. “He just told me to treat it like a normal tournament. I wouldn’t say I’m nervous, but it’s definitely a different environment and something I’m looking forward to getting used to.

“I would say he’s definitely a little more aggressive than I am on the course. I think I kind of play a little safer, boring golf.”

Daly II plays collegiately at the University of Arkansas, his dad’s alma mater. The younger Daly was a freshman in 2021-22; he redshirted in 2022-23 but found success as a redshirt sophomore in 2023-24, posting a 71.78 scoring average across 23 rounds. He carded top-20 finishes in the season’s first six events, the only Razorback to do so, as he established himself as a steady contributor in the lineup. He arrived in Oklahoma fresh off a solid tie for 12th at the Florida Amateur, and he’ll now see how his game translates against a Korn Ferry Tour field – knowing low scores will be required to compete and contend.

Aside from his dad, Daly II admires world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler for his perspective on the game – “it’s like he doesn’t really worry about what he shoots, what he doesn’t shoot, just blessed to be able to play the game of golf,” he said of Scheffler. Daly II describes his personality as “normal, boring” – phrases rarely ascribed to his dad. He’s his own person, but he’s similarly consumed with the game; his non-golf hobbies, he said, are watching golf and being outside. In his final two years of college, he intends to hone his game and make it pro-ready. This week will offer valuable education to that end.

“I just like playing golf,” he said of what motivates him. “I grew up around it, basically born into it. Played a lot of sports growing up, but I think golf was the one that I was always going to play.”

Team Daly has competed in eight editions of the PNC Championship, the two-person scramble event that pairs an accomplished TOUR pro with a family member. John Daly and John Daly II won the 2021 event, and they’ve also recorded a pair of runner-up finishes. The younger Daly has thrived in that spotlight alongside his dad. This week, he makes it his own.

Scottie Scheffler’s $70 million bag, rounds that impressed Jordan Spieth most, and more

Plus, the women’s olympic field and texas tech product mito pereira’s bid to represent chile in paris.

Cameron Young, left, celebrates with Jordan Spieth on the 18th green after they finished...

By SportsDay Staff

8:22 PM on Jun 25, 2024 CDT

When Cameron Young made a 10-foot par putt for 59 in the third round of the Travelers Championship , Jordan Spieth became a footnote in history as the only player to twice be in the same group as someone who broke 60.

Spieth also played alongside Justin Thomas in the 2017 Sony Open when he made a 15-foot eagle putt on his final hole for 59 in the opening round.

So which was the best round he personally witnessed?

He leaned toward a 60.

Get the latest D-FW sports news, analysis, scores and more.

Remember, Spieth also was playing with Bryson DeChambeau in the second round of the 2021 BMW Championship at Caves Valley. DeChambeau hit 8-iron to 2 feet for eagle on the par-5 16th hole and needed only to birdie one of the last two holes.

He missed from 15 feet on No. 17 and from 6 feet on No. 18 and shot 60.

Related: Bryson DeChambeau narrowly misses a 59 in second round of BMW Championship

“I would say Bryson that day because it was a par 72,” Spieth said. “That might be the answer on those three rounds.”

He had deep appreciation for all three.

Young got off to a flier — two birdies, holing out for eagle from 142 yards, another birdie to reach 5 under through four holes on the par-70 TPC River Highlands. Key was a 30-foot putt on No. 9 and a 3-iron to 4 feet for eagle on the reachable par-4 15th. Conditions allowed for players to lift, clean and place, though Young hit only six fairways.

“I remember thinking both Cam and Justin were right in it at the beginning,” Spieth said.

Thomas holed out from eagle on the short par-4 10th at Waialae to start his round. He actually bogeyed the next hole but then had a 10-hole stretch of eight birdies, including five in a row around the turn.

What Spieth doesn’t recall is that he hit the ball better than Thomas that day — Spieth’s average proximity to the hole was 18 feet, compared with 25 feet for Thomas.

“There’s definitely an argument to be for JT because he knew he needed eagle (on the final hole) and made a 15-foot slider,” Spieth said. “That’s a little bit different. That was the most clutch of the three.”

DeChambeau wasn’t clutch. He hit pitching wedge to 6 feet below the cup for 59 and missed. But so thorough was his performance that day that he never had more than two birdies in a row.

He was 9.913 shots better than the field average at Caves Valley, while Thomas was 9.249 better than the field at Waialae. Young was 7.845 shots better at TPC River Highlands.

Olympics or PGA Tour?

Texas Tech product Mito Pereira of LIV Golf is going back to the Olympics because Cristobal del Solar of Chile wants to give himself his best chance at getting a PGA Tour card.

The International Golf Federation still has del Solar listed as part of the 60-man field for the Paris Olympics. It will not be finalized until July 9. However, Pereira told LIV Golf’s website that del Solar has decided to skip the Olympics to try to move up the Korn Ferry Tour points list.

“He wanted to get to a certain number of points because obviously he’s fighting for his PGA Tour card,” Pereira said last week at LIV Golf Nashville. “It’s not that one is more important than the other. Obviously trying to get to the PGA Tour is his main goal. He made that decision and I think it’s very smart to do it.”

Del Solar, who shot 57 in a Korn Ferry Tour event in Colombia earlier this year, is No. 16 on the points list with 11 tournaments remaining. The top 30 earn PGA Tour status for next year.

Del Solar was No. 195 in the world when Olympic qualifying ended. Pereira was No. 272, but he easily got Chile’s second spot in the Olympics because he was more than 100 spots ahead of the player from the next available country.

Joaquin Niemann, also with LIV Golf , has the other spot for Chile.

Pereira, best known for losing a one-shot lead with a double bogey on the final hole of the 2022 PGA Championship, was part of a seven-man playoff for the bronze medal in the Tokyo Olympics. Niemann finished one shot out of the playoff, which was won by C.T. Pan of Taiwan.

“Three years waiting for that again,” Pereira said. “I’m really focused on playing my best to get the medal.”

Olympics won’t include Ewing

Ally Ewing loves nothing more than to represent her country. Her only chance this year will be the Solheim Cup.

Ewing made bogey on the 16th hole and that wound up being a key moment that narrowly kept her out of the Olympics. Countries can have a maximum of four players provided they are among the top 15 in the women’s world ranking.

Ewing by one shot missed out on a tie for second in the KPMG Women’s PGA. She finished in a two-way tie for fifth and moved up to No. 16 in the world. A four-way tie for second would have meant moving to No. 14.

The Americans will have three players at the Paris Games with Nelly Korda, Lilia Vu and Rose Zhang.

Ewing, meanwhile, moved to No. 3 in the Solheim Cup standings for this year’s matches.

Amy Yang won her first major on Sunday at Sahalee and moved to a career-high No. 5. That also gave South Korea three players in the Olympics, with Yang joining Jin Young Ko and Hyo Joo Kim. South Korea had four players the past two Olympics.

No country has four women for the first time since golf returned to the Olympic program in 2016.

Lydia Ko, Brooke Henderson and Leona Maguire are among 13 players who will be competing for the third straight time. Ko has won the silver medal (2016) and bronze (2020).

Senior Open to be more open

The U.S. Senior Open is making changes to become more open.

The USGA says next year’s championship at The Broadmoor in Colorado will have similar qualifying to the U.S. Open. Instead of one stage of qualifying over 33 sites, there will be 32 local qualifiers and 12 final qualifiers.

It also will reduce the number of full exemptions. Among the changes are PGA Tour Champions winners getting a one-year exemption instead of two- or three-year exemptions. The other three American senior majors will get five-year exemptions to the U.S. Senior Open.

Money matters

Scottie Scheffler has won or finished second in eight of his 15 starts on the PGA Tour this year. He is really cashing in at the $20 million signature events.

Scheffler played seven of the eight signature events, won four of them and earned $16.98 million. His season total, including wins at the Masters and The Players Championship, put him at $27,696,858 for the year.

Still to come is the British Open and two FedEx Cup playoff events. Meanwhile, his victory in the Travelers Championship made him the seventh player to cross $70 million in career earnings. Scheffler is in his fifth full season on the PGA Tour.

Front Office Sports reports that TMRW Sports, the company backed by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy that runs the TGL league, is valued at nearly $500 million in a Series A funding round announced Monday. The indoor, tech-drive TGL with six four-man teams doesn’t start until January. ... Harry Higgs has earned enough points on the Korn Ferry Tour to assure he will have a full PGA Tour card again next year. ... Florida State alumni had a big Sunday in PGA Tour-sanctioned events. John Pak won his first Korn Ferry Tour event, while recent graduate Frederik Kjettrup won in Canada on the PGA Tour Americas. The most famous former Seminole, five-time major champion Brooks Koepka, tied for 42nd against the 54-man field at LIV Golf.

Stat of the week

Scottie Scheffler has been bogey-free in the final round in three of his six victories this year.

”We do the best we can. Some days, golf feels so easy and feels so fun. Other days, it feels like I want to retire very soon.” — Amy Yang after winning her first major at age 34.

Cameron Young shoots 59 at Travelers Championship; 12th golfer in PGA Tour history to card sub-60 round

CROMWELL, CONNECTICUT - JUNE 22: Cameron Young of the United States plays his shot from the 17th tee during the third round of the Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands on June 22, 2024 in Cromwell, Connecticut. (Photo by James Gilbert/Getty Images)

Cameron Young shot a 59 at the Travelers Championship on Saturday for the first sub-60 round on the PGA Tour in four years, becoming just the 12th player on the PGA Tour to ever achieve the feat. At the signature event on the par 70 TPC River Highlands in Connecticut, Young’s 11-under par round was enough to take the solo lead before the leaders tee off.

Young, 27, opened the third round going birdie-birdie-eagle-birdie to immediately start 5 under through four holes. The eagle came on a par 4 in which he holed out a 142-yard shot. He then birdied 8 and 9 to round out the front nine in just 28 shots and birdied 13 to put himself at 8 under.

On the drivable par-4 15th hole, Young hit an epic iron shot that rolled up to the green and landed four feet from the pin to set up a short eagle putt. Another birdie on 17 sealed the sub-60, and Young parred 18 to put himself in the record books.

It’s the first sub-60 round on the PGA Tour since Scottie Scheffler’s 59 at the Northern Trust Open at TPC Boston in 2020 and just the 13th total round under 60. The lowest ever is a 58 by Jim Furyk played on the same course at TPC River Highlands in 2016. Furyk also shot a 59 at the 2013 BMW Championship. He did not win either event.

It’s been a low-scoring week overall in Connecticut. Tom Kim opened with a 62, and Robert MacIntyre shot another 62 on Friday while Collin Morikawa shot 63 on the heels of a 28 on the front nine. Five golfers were at least 10 shots under par through two rounds.

Golf has seen a run of such scores lately across tours. Cristobal del Solar shot a 57 on the Korn Ferry Tour this season for the lowest-ever round on a PGA Tour-sanctioned event. U.S. Open champ Bryson DeChambeau shot a 58 last summer to win LIV Greenbrier, and fellow LIV golfer Joaquin Niemann shot a 59 to win in Mexico.

For Young, it’s a promising step in an up-and-down year. Young broke out two years ago when he finished T3 at the PGA Championship and solo second at the Open Championship all at 25, followed by a T7 at the 2023 Masters months later. He seemed poised to become one of golf’s next big stars, and he’s had a good run overall ranking No. 23 in OWGR, but Young hasn’t quite broken through as expected.

Young has yet to earn his first PGA Tour win, and despite a great start in 2024 including a T9 at the Masters in April, Young hasn’t placed better than 34th in the six tournaments since.
