IMPORTANT: El Tour de Tucson Road Closures set for Nov. 18

  • October 31, 2023
  • Uncategorized

The Banner – University Medicine 40th El Tour de Tucson is soon approaching – just more than two weeks away – and we want to inform every one of the road closures on Ride Day.

It’s paramount so those on the road know what to expect and to try and avoid throughout the day.

“We will have nearly 9,000 cyclists out on the road on Nov. 18 so it’s important we let the Tucson community and its surrounding areas to the south and east – Vail, Green Valley and Sahuarita – know what roads will be closed during El Tour on November 18,” said TJ Juskiewicz, El Tour’s executive director. “We want to make sure everyone is prepared for our road closures as they plan their day.”

El Tour begins in the Downtown area at 7 a.m. and ends at 4:30 p.m. with roads being closed at various times. Those times are listed on the list we’ve sent.

“We want everyone in the community to have a safe day. Safety for our cyclists and drivers throughout our area is always a concern,” Juskiewicz said. “We urge everyone to know their surroundings, always.”

I recently visited Berlin and had my sightseeing ruined a bit by getting no access to the Brandenburg Gate and Reichstag due to football and pop concerts and would hope to avoid such a thing happening again in Moscow .

Any pointers as to where I might find out such info would be much appreciated.

Often it is closed for a few hours at a time, and then reopens for the rest of the day. This may happen if some dignitary is in town? If it is closed, (and this is not often), tour the kremlin and such first, and then head back next door to red square, and it should be open. If Lenins tomb is open, have a look, as it is closed for no reason quite often. Please note, if you have a camera of any kind, (cell-video-digital) you will not be let inside of the tomb.
