Port Baltimore cruise ship schedule shows timetable calendars of all arrival and departure dates by month. The port's schedule lists all ships (in links) with cruises going to or leaving from Baltimore, Maryland. To see the full itineraries (ports of call dates and arrival / departure times) and their lowest rates – just follow the corresponding ship-link.
Baltimore cruise port is a part of Helen Delich Bentley Port of Baltimore. It is located on Patapsco River banks in central Maryland (USA) and is operated by MPA (Maryland Port Administration). As homeport, Baltimore MD's cruise schedule includes roundtrip itineraries the whole year-round. Most popular destinations are Eastern Caribbean and Bahamas, as well as Bermuda (during summer) and New England (during fall). Most of the embarking passengers (up to 90%) arrive at Maryland Cruise Terminal by car. Of those, the largest numbers are residents of Pennsylvania, Washington DC , and NOVA (Northern Virginia).
In October 2016, the cruise port had a record number of ship calls and handled passengers due to homeported here large-sized liners of Carnival and RCI-Royal Caribbean International. The port was also visited by several luxury companies, among which Azamara , Silversea , Hapag-Lloyd . In 2016, the seaport signed a 5-year extension agreement with Carnival Corporation and a 3-year contract with RCCL (Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd).
The largest companies homeporting ships in Baltimore on a year-round basis are Carnival (with Carnival Pride ), RCI Royal Caribbean (with Grandeur OTS /2013-2020, replaced by Enchantment OTS in 2021), and also ACL-American Cruise Lines (small-capacity boats). Most port calls here are on transition itineraries. In 2018, RCI added more summer voyages to Canada New England, while Carnival added 14-day "Carnival Journeys" itineraries (in January and December).
In 2023 (September) turnaround operation from Baltimore started also NCL-Norwegian Cruise Line with two ships - Norwegian Sky (to New England USA and Canada) and Norwegian Sun (to Bermuda and the Caribbean).
Port Baltimore
Port Baltimore annually contributes nearly USD 3,3 billion (wages and salaries), USD 2,6 billion (business revenues) and USD 395 million (state and local taxes). Port’s average annual direct job salary is 9,5% higher than Maryland's average. In 2018, the port reported a cargo shipping record of 43 million tons handled its state-owned and privately-owned terminals. The previous record (40,9 million tons) was in 1974. FY2018, port's cargo throughput was valued USD 59,7 billion (USD 53,9B in FY2017). Port’s state-owned cargo terminals handled 10,9 million tons. Also in 2018, the port handled 1,023152 million TEU-containers and the record 850,147 mobile units (cars and light trucks).
Port Baltimore is currently ranked USA's largest for Ro-Ro shipping (autos and light trucks, heavy farm, and construction machinery) and for imported sugar. The port is ranked USA's second in exported coal (after Norfolk VA ). The port is also ranked USA's 9th (total cargo value) and 12th (foreign cargo tonnage). Port'ss businesses generate around 13,650 direct jobs, plus around 127,600 Maryland jobs (linked to its activities). The economic impact is nearly USD 3 billion (in wages and salaries) and USD 310 million (tax revenues).
In early-December 2018, Port Baltimore received USD 6,6 million in federal funding for building a second cargo berth with docking capacity two supersized boxships simultaneously. By the project will be deepened (to max draft 15 m / 50 ft) a second berth at Seagirt Marine Terminal. Additionally, the project (total cost USD 32,7 million) will be contributed to USD 7,8 million (by Maryland State) and USD 18,4 million (by Ports America Chesapeake, terminal's operator). Construction works were scheduled to start in 2019-H2 and completed in 2020-H2.
The second container berth project is via a public-private partnership signed in 2010 with Ports America Chesapeake. Dredging works (by US Army Corps of Engineers) started on December 12, 2018, and included 6 harbor channels. This project was budgeted USD 17,5 million and is part of the seaport's regular maintenance of shipping channels that go from Chesapeake Bay (Virginia) all the way to Baltimore. These waterways require periodic dredging (deepening) to ensure their max draft and safe navigation. Baltimore Harbor dredging involves removing material from Curtis Bay, Craighill (Entrance, Channel, Angle, Upper Range) and Cutoff Angle. Port's channels are dredged to max depth 15,5 m (51 ft).
In 2018, the port's largest container ship was Gunde Maersk (IMO 9359014, 11K-TEUs), surpassed in 2019 by Evergreen Triton (IMO 9728916, 15K-TEUs). In 2017, the port handled 596,972 TEUs (containers) Port's state-owned terminals have records for the Fiscal Year 2017-2018 (10,976 million cargo tons) and 1-month TEUs (90152 - in May 2018).
On March 26, 2024, at 1:28 am EDT (05:28 UTC), the main two spans and the three nearest spans of the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsed after MV Dali (2015-built, Singapore-flagged container ship) struck one of the support pillars. The maritime accident essentially blocked Baltimore Harbor from shipping traffic. Baltimore-homeported cruise ships were temporarily based in Norfolk VA . On May 13th, the USCG/Coast Guard reopened the Fort McHenry Channel (limited access waterway) for commercial vessels with max depth 45 ft (13,7 m) daily from 8 pm to 6 am EDT.
Baltimore cruise terminal
Baltimore cruise terminal was moved in 2006 from Dundakl Port to South Locus Point. BWI Airport is only at 10 min drive distance from the cruise port. Less than 1 hour takes to reach Washington DC and Annapolis MD . Interstate 95 (I-95 highway) is only 0,7 mi (1,2 km) from the seaport.
Maryland Cruise Terminal was redesigned to serve the increasing number of roundtrip itineraries out of Baltimore. The terminal building offers restrooms, payphones, vending machines, ATMs, check-in counters, VIP room, huge parking space (advanced reservations not required).
Terminal building's size is approx 75,700 m2 (815,000 ft2). The length of each of the 2 docking berths is 1139 ft (347 m) with water depth 35 ft (9) m.
In 2016-2017, Port Baltimore made several improvements. Among those were separate VIP check-in room, new public address system (electronic sound amplification-distribution system), new check-in counters, enclosed waiting area (for disembarking passengers), additional parking lot (capacity up to 500 cars).
The cruise ship terminal's convenient location (on I-95) and its large and cheap parking are beneficial for the port's business growth. Also convenient is that the terminal has separate docking areas for Carnival and RCCL ships, plus a third area ready for another major cruise company to homeport a vessel here.
Smaller-sized cruise vessels use for berthing Baltimore's Constellation Pier. Among the companies that dock ships there are American Cruise Lines .
Fort McHenry: the historic highlight is half-a-mile away from the Baltimore cruise port. The place is famous for the 1982 battle between the American soldiers and the British forces. This inspired the Star-Spangled Banner by Francis Scott Key. He was a witness of the battle from an anchored boat.
Baltimore Museum of Industry: discover the 19th-century history of the commerce and industry in the region of Baltimore.
Federal Hill: take an amazing look over Inner Harbor from a beautiful green area with a narrow path and high trees.
American Visionary Art Museum: an interesting place to visit. The American Visionary Art Museum is dedicated to the untrained artist. Discover the surprisingly enjoyable exhibition of paintings and sculptures. Harborplace shopping center: 100 shops and 15 dining places, the paradise for any shopaholic.
Historic Ships in Baltimore Museum: discover the USS Torsk, the Lightship Chesapeake, the Seven Foot Knoll Lighthouse, USS Constellation, and USCGC Taney.
National Aquarium: the great underwater world with exhibits like a large shark tank, acrobatic dolphin, a stingray pool and animal planet Australia.

Currently, you will find cobblestone streets, tall period houses, and narrow market places. You can have a coffee if you are tired of touring the city highlights.

First cruise ship sets sail from Port of Baltimore since Key Bridge collapse: ‘It’s a good day’
The festive occasion marked the first cruise ship to arrive and depart the Port of Baltimore since the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge on March 26.
Less than a week prior, the terminal was the headquarters for the Key Bridge Response Unified Command to coordinate recovery operations, Daniels said. They began condensing their workspace down last weekend, started packing up Monday night after the Dali was refloated that morning and were out by Tuesday afternoon.
“While there is still work that needs to be done to be able to complete the salvage operation, this is a wonderful sign that the next milestone is pointing to the fact that business is truly returning to the port,” Daniels said.
Just after 10 a.m., the sound of steel drums echoed in the terminal as it began to fill with passengers eager to board Royal Caribbean’s Vision of the Seas cruise ship for a five-night trip to Bermuda.
Tom Sitzler said he and his group had planned the trip since August to celebrate his partner’s 60th birthday. They live in Washington, D.C., but had a very specific reason to sail out of the Port of Baltimore.
“The whole purpose of the cruise though was to actually cruise out of Baltimore out past Annapolis, because Allen grew up there, the birthday boy, and he wants to see Annapolis from the bay,” Sitzler said.
“I’ve always wanted to cruise down the bay and see all the spots where I grew up,” said Allen Steven, the birthday boy.
Cruises that were already underway or were scheduled in the past two months have been rerouted to the Norfolk Cruise Terminal . Steven said if their trip had been moved to leave from Norfolk, they would have rebooked.
A group of five friends from Harford County also were heading on a cruise to celebrate, donning matching pink hats that said “Friends on the Loose 2024 Friends Trip.”
“We are celebrating a milestone birthday,” said Kathy Schlehr. “We have all attained the age of 70 or beyond.”
“Not yet!” someone chimed in.
The group said they were ecstatic when they found out about a week and a half ago they would be sailing out of the Port of Baltimore. The departure location was one of the reasons they went on the cruise.
The return of cruises benefits the tourism industry in Baltimore and the rest of the state, Daniels said.
More than 440,000 passengers went through the Cruise Maryland Terminal in 2023, he said, and they may also stay in hotels, eat at restaurants and even come back to enjoy the city afterward.
“Many of them are experiencing what Baltimore has to offer for the very first time,” Daniels said.
The 915-foot long vessel with a 25-foot draft got underway after 4 p.m. and used the 400-foot-wide, 50-foot-deep channel that opened Tuesday in the Patapsco River. In addition to a pilot, it was accompanied by two tugboats.
Even though the Unified Command vacated the cruise terminal, operations are still ongoing, just back in their own spaces, said David O’Connell, the Coast Guard’s captain of the port. They coordinate daily on ongoing operations, including salvage work in the main and outside channels as well as coordinating with the Army Corps of Engineers on vessel traffic in the temporary channels.
Saturday, the Army Corps announced a delayed goal of June 8-10 to restore full access to the federal channel. Officials had previously said this would be achieved by the end of May.
“It was great all being together and coordinating operations, but it’s great to be here and see this place in a different light,” O’Connell said. “You see it lively with people that are going on vacation, going through security, the ship is out back. It’s a good day.”

Cruise ships set sail out of Baltimore for the first time since bridge collapse
T wo cruise ships set sail for the sea from Baltimore this weekend for the first time since the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsed.
Royal Caribbean’s Vision of the Sea left Baltimore on Saturday for a five-night voyage to Bermuda, according to Port of Baltimore Director Jonathan Daniels.
“Cruising is back at the Port of Baltimore,” Daniels said in a video posted on X from the Port of Baltimore account.
Carnival Cruise’s Pride followed suit on Sunday when the ship headed off for a 14-day voyage to Greenland and Canada.
“Just a week ago, this terminal was being used as an incident command post. In one week, it’s been transformed back to starting out that guest experience,” Daniels announced in the video, as tropical cruise music played in the background, “The Port of Baltimore is back, cruising is back. It’s absolutely great to be able to welcome everybody here.”
In a news release posted on the state’s website Tuesday, the Port of Baltimore administration had said, “The Port of Baltimore’s permanent 700-foot wide, 50-foot-deep channel is expected to be reopened by the end of May.”
The Port of Baltimore was temporarily blocked following the March 26 collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge. The 1.6-mile structure fell after the 213-million-pound cargo ship Dali collided with the bridge and struck one of its crucial support columns.
In 2023, 444,000 passengers departed on cruises from the Port of Baltimore. The Port supports 15,330 direct jobs and 139,180 jobs in Maryland, according to the state’s website. The cruise industry adds $63 million to Maryland’s economy, the website notes.

Royal Caribbean and Carnival Cruise ships leave from Baltimore for the first time since the collapse of the Key Bridge
- Cruise ships left the Port of Baltimore for the first time since March 26.
- The port's terminal was blocked after the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsed and killed six workers.
- Rebuilding the bridge will take four years and could cost up to $1.9 billion.
Two months after Baltimore's Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsed, cruise ships are now taking off from the Port of Baltimore.
A Royal Caribbean ship called Vision of the Seas left from the port on Saturday for a trip to Bermuda. And a Carnival Cruise ship called Pride destined for Greenland and Canada left Baltimore on Sunday.
The two trips are notable as the first cruise ships to leave Baltimore since the port was blocked by the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge on March 26. The bridge collapsed after being hit by a cargo ship, killing six workers. The Francis Scott Key Bridge services about 30,000 people a day.
"We've been working through this process for the past two months," Jonathan Daniels, the director for the Port of Baltimore said in a video posted to X on May 25 by the port.
One week ago, the port's terminal was the headquarters for the recovery operations for the Francis Scott Key Bridge, Daniels added. The terminal is also a massive area of tourism for Maryland, bringing in 440,000 cruise passengers a year, Daniels told the Baltimore Sun.
The project to rebuild the Francis Scott Key Bridge will take four years and is estimated to cost between $1.7 billion and $1.9 billion, a spokesperson for the Maryland Department of Transportation said in May 2023.

Mexico elects claudia sheinbaum.
We explain why so many Mexican citizens are happy with their country’s direction.
By David Leonhardt and Ian Prasad Philbrick
When foreigners hear news from Mexico, it can often sound chaotic, involving cartels, crime or migration surges. But last night’s election results make clear that most Mexicans are pleased with their country’s direction.
Claudia Sheinbaum — the former mayor of Mexico City and the chosen successor of the current president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador — won the presidency easily . Sheinbaum, a leftist-leaning engineer, received about 58 percent of the vote, to around 29 percent for Xóchitl Gálvez, a centrist entrepreneur, and about 11 percent for Jorge Álvarez Máynez, a progressive candidate. Mexican law restricts presidents to a single term. (Votes are still being counted. See live results here .)
In today’s newsletter, we’ll explain why most Mexican citizens have been so satisfied with López Obrador (who’s often known by his initials, AMLO) and what challenges Sheinbaum will likely face, starting with violent crime, which is indeed a major problem.
Mexico’s election matters well beyond its borders. It is virtually tied with Canada as the biggest trading partner of the U.S. In the years ahead, U.S.-Mexico trade seems likely to increase, partly because tensions with China have given American companies a reason to move production to friendlier countries.
More people are voting for leaders in 2024 than in any previous year, with dozens of countries holding elections. Taiwan , Indonesia and South Africa have already done so. Voting in India ended over the weekend, with results set to be announced tomorrow. Britain will vote on July 4, and the U.S. presidential election will be the last major one, on Nov. 5.
Each country has its own dynamics, of course, but we will highlight some strands that connect Mexican politics to politics elsewhere. Regular readers of The Morning will notice a familiar theme: Populism is ascendant .
A vibrant economy
The No. 1 reason for AMLO’s popularity is the Mexican economy. Thanks both to his policies and to outside factors, incomes have risen for a broad group of Mexicans, and poverty has declined.
The minimum wage has doubled since he took office, notes our colleague Simon Romero, who’s based in Mexico City. AMLO reformed labor law so that workers could more easily join independent unions. He expanded pensions. He increased the number of mandatory vacation days that workers receive. He built infrastructure, like a tourist train line in the Yucatán.
Economic optimism in Mexico

“AMLO’s popularity is always talked about as something inexplicable,” Juan David Rojas, a political analyst, told The Guardian . “But it’s very simple: He does things that Mexicans like.”
The economy has also benefited from the early stages of “friendshoring,” in which U.S. companies shift some operations from China to allied nations. Last year, the U.S. bought more goods from Mexico than China for the first time in two decades .
Us versus them
Beyond economic results, AMLO governs in a feisty style that voters seem to enjoy. “AMLO has forged a connection with many Mexican voters, which is rare in the country’s recent history,” our colleague Simon says. “He’s a combative communicator who seizes control of the narrative with a folksy, us-versus-them style.”
He cut government salaries and cracked down on corporate tax avoidance. He has taken the public bus as president, speaks in an informal version of Spanish and harshly criticizes Mexico’s economic elites, Viri Ríos, a political scientist, has noted . AMLO also increased oil production, rejecting environmental concerns.
Many democracy experts find parts of his approach to be worrisome — and connected to a global rise of autocratic behavior. AMLO is a leftist, but his governing style has similarities to those of right-wing figures like Narendra Modi in India, Viktor Orban in Hungary and Donald Trump in the U.S.
AMLO has called the judiciary “ rotten ” and claimed some judges were part of a conservative conspiracy “dedicated to plundering the country.” He disparages journalists whose coverage he doesn’t like and runs weekly sessions devoted to “lies.” He has given the military additional powers, including policing many parts of the country.
His reliance on the military has contributed to his biggest failure because it has been ineffective at protecting public safety. Crime has risen, and cartels control parts of the country. A Times analysis found that 36 political candidates had been killed since last summer , as had some relatives of candidates.

Sheinbaum’s résumé
As a candidate, Sheinbaum — who is a decorated climate scientist and will be Mexico’s first female president — linked herself tightly to AMLO. “Even though many Mexicans do not fully agree with our project,” she said in a victory speech , “we will have to walk in peace and harmony to continue building a fair and more prosperous Mexico.”
Sheinbaum, 61, insists that she is a different person from AMLO and will govern independently from him. She takes a more technocratic approach. As Mexico City’s mayor, she oversaw a sharp drop in crime, for example. She increased police salaries, improved training and implemented community-policing models that some U.S. cities pioneered, as Kate Linthicum of The Los Angeles Times has noted .
One early issue for Sheinbaum will involve the border. AMLO’s government has worked closely with President Biden this year to reduce migration from other countries through Mexico. (Mexico’s strong economic boom means that fewer Mexicans are trying to migrate to the U.S., Simon points out.) Biden may soon announce policies that could lead to a buildup of migrants on Mexico’s side of the border. Most analysts expect Sheinbaum to cooperate with the U.S.
She will also inherit some problems AMLO created, such as a big budget deficit. And she lacks his personal popularity. AMLO founded his and Sheinbaum’s political party, known as Morena, and then enacted popular policies as president.
As Natalie Kitroeff, The Times’s Mexico City bureau chief, has written about Sheinbaum : “Will she dare to stray from those policies if she wins office, inviting the reproach of Mr. López Obrador and the movement that got her there? Or will she dedicate herself to cementing his legacy, even if it means stifling her own vision?”
Related: Sheinbaum, who rarely discusses her heritage, will also become Mexico’s first Jewish president .
