We head north to Harrogate, staying at the Strathmore Cairn Hotel for four nights.

During our stay we take a trip on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway as we head over to Whitby with its atmospheric Abbey towering over winding cobbled streets to the beach and working harbour. We also spend a day at leisure both the magnificant city of York and the traditional seaside resort of Scarborough.

DURING THE BREAK WE WILL TAKE YOU TO:

Scarborough really does have it all: dramatic cliffs and castle headland, award winning beaches, historic harbour, great family attractions and a booming town centre.

Enjoy a ride on the oldest funicular cliff railway in Britain, sit on the sandy beaches, enjoy the amusements, fish and chips and ice-cream, explore the parks, pay a visit to the spa building and much much more.

Behind Sandside on the harbour, discover The Bolts, a relic of medieval life in Scarborough. Walk the narrow street from the Harbour Bar all the way to Luna Park and discover some old treasures along the way. 

Hop on board the North Yorkshire Moors Railway and enjoy a journey filled with vintage charm and amazing scenery on one of the world's greatest heritage railways.

Let their fleet of steam and heritage diesel trains transport you along 24 miles of National Park countryside and back in time to a bygone era.

North Yorkshire Moors Railway is a not for profit organisation that is run and maintained by their dedicated network of volunteers, and every passenger that travels with them helps to contribute towards the preservation of one of the UK’s most historic railway lines.

York is a vibrant city with Roman roots and a Viking past. A magnificant circuit of 13th century walls encloses a medieval spider's web of narrow street. At its heart lies the immense, awe-inspiring York Minster, one of the most beautiful Gothic cathedrals in the world.

York's long history and rich heritage is woven into virtually every brick and beam, and the modern tourist-orientated city - with its myriad of museums, restaurants, cafes and traditional pubs - is a carefully maintained heir to that heritage.

This coastal town has something special and has long been popular with visitors owing. Wnhy not take a stroll along the harbour walls from where you may be lucky enough to see seals, dolphins and porpoises playing as the little fishing boats chug by.

From the atmospheric Abbey towering over winding cobbled streets to the windswept beach and working harbour. Whitby is not your traditional coastal town. No trip to this picturesque ancient seaport would be complete without sampling some award winning fish and chips, following the footsteps of Bram Stoker's Dracula and English explorer Captain Janes Cook or discovering the famous Whitby jet.

HOLIDAY BOOKING CONDITIONS

A deposit of £50 per person is required to secure your place. Deposits paid are non-refundable and non-transferable except where arrangements are cancelled by Mullanys Coaches. The balance of the holiday cost is due and payable before the date of departure. Every effort is made to ensure the accommodation is of acceptable standard. When booking a room for twin occupancy please specify whether you require double or twin beds. If no specification is made we will assume that either is acceptable. All passengers are required to carry comprehensive travel insurance. Details of this must be provided to Mullanys Coaches prior to the departure of the tour.

CANCELLATION

Cancellation by the client will only be accepted by Mullanys Coaches in writing.

The following cancellation charges will apply:

• For advice received more than 42 days before date of departure, deposit only
• For advice received between 42 and 29 days before date of departure, 30% of the total price.
• For advice received between 28 and 8 days before date of departure,75% of the total price
• For advice received 7 days or fewer before date of departure, 100% of the total price

If you have already experienced the flower shows at Chelsea, Hampton Court and Tatton Park? Then coach trips to the Harrogate Flower Show are the perfect alternative for you. Not only do you get to attend one of the most prestigious events in the gardening calendar, but there's something available for the whole family to enjoy and that includes the kids too!

Flower show coach trips are not always high on the agenda for children with some preferring to stay at home and play with their friends but if you take them to Harrogate, and the weather is good, they are sure to have a fabulous time. There's the popular 'Spot It' trail where children are encouraged to hunt for clues, write down their answers and enter a competition to win a prize. The kids can also help to build a dragon sculpture made completely out of willow, build a hotel perfect for bugs , create their own wormery and have a go at planting seeds.        

There's no need for the adults to feel left out whilst the children are being entertained, there's plenty on offer for you too with coach packages to the Harrogate Flower Show. There will be double the number of show gardens on display providing lots of inspiration for your gardens at home. Visit the Floral Art Marquee , the largest in Britain, where you'll find over 150 fabulous displays of flower arrangements that have been painstakingly put together by talented florists. Another must-see at the Harrogate Flower Show is the 'Have a Go' area where experts will be on hand to show you how to create an edible Herb Garden and to make a greenhouse from recycled plastic bottles among other demonstrations.

In addition to the fabulous show gardens , there will be plenty of plants on display from over 100 leading nurseries from across the UK. Some of these plant displays will be representing a theme of 'A Song of the 50s or 60s' . Would you like to be able to prepare something with the fruit or vegetables that you grow at home? If this is you, visit 'Kitchen Garden Live' , where experts will be on hand to show you exactly how to do it. You will also find the 'Plot to Pot Cookery Theatre' useful as the team will be producing a variety of dishes from items you can find in the garden at home. As you're wandering around the gardens and see something you like but don't want to carry your purchases with you? Help is at hand with the 'Plants and Products Secure Creche' , where your purchases will be kept safe until you wish to go home – just don't forget to collect your items before you leave the show!

There is just one warm-up match to go before the Scotland squad fly out to Germany for Euro 2024 - but who will be on that plane?

After naming a provisional squad of 28, Steve Clarke must trim that to 26 players by Friday's midnight deadline - hours after that final friendly against Finland at Hampden Park.

There are fitness concerns for the head coach to weigh up, plus Lyndon Dykes and Ben Doak are out of the tournament after suffering injuries.

Decisions in defence

Starting with the goalkeepers, Clarke named four in his initial squad with No 1 Angus Gunn and Zander Clark expected to travel but what will happen to Craig Gordon and Liam Kelly ?

Clarke has suggested all four could travel but if one is to miss out, the decision will come down to experience or game-time. Kelly featured in every league match for Motherwell but has just one cap for the national team. Gordon, however, has 74 caps to his name and at 41 years old, would bring experience, but has only played seven games since suffering a double-leg break in December 2022.

In front of the 'keepers, the likes of Jack Hendry , Ryan Porteous , Scott McKenna , Andy Robertson , Greg Taylor and Kieran Tierney will be in the squad, as will Grant Hanley who is back after fitness concerns plus Ross McCrorie and Anthony Ralston who are Clarke's right-back options after injuries.

However, Liam Cooper came off in the win over Gibraltar as a precaution and will want to prove he is ok to travel, while John Souttar has also had his own fitness and injury issues of late and missed that friendly.

The midfield make-up

Again Clarke will know the vast majority of his midfielders who will travel - including the likes of Ryan Christie , Billy Gilmour , Kenny McLean , John McGinn , Callum McGregor and Scott McTominay .

But what will happen to Stuart Armstrong and Ryan Jack ? Armstrong - who has not played due to injury since mid-April - is back training but is he fit enough? And the same question could be asked of Jack who came on for 17 minutes on Monday having last played in March.

Conway chance?

With Dykes and uncapped Liverpool youngster Doak out, Che Adams and Lawrence Shankland give Clarke two options and James Forrest will provide width in the final squad.

However, could the uncapped Tommy Conway also be heading to Germany? Clarke promoted the Bristol City striker from the U21 side - just 24 hours after he scored against Turkey - while Scotland struggled past Gibraltar. Should he get a chance against Finland and impress, a place in the final 26 could await.

Scotland's Euro 2024 schedule

Scotland have history kicking off tournaments, having been drawn to face Brazil in the opener at World Cup 1998, a game they narrowly lost 2-1 to a second-half Tom Boyd own goal.

This time around the venue is the Munich Football Arena (Allianz Arena) where Steve Clarke's kick-off the opening match of Euro 2024 against hosts Germany on June 14 .

The Scots also face games against perennial qualifiers Switzerland in Cologne on June 19 , with Hungary - who reached the knockouts in 2016 - awaiting in Stuttgart on June 23 .
