Film Review: Terrence Malick’s ‘Voyage of Time: Life’s Journey’
Terrence Malick has made a reverent and spectacular nature documentary that's suffused with cosmic beauty, and with a little too much cosmic indulgence.

The bottom of the sea, the top of the sky, the swirling psychedelic gasses of outer space, the writhing protoplasm of inner life: When you’re gawking at images like these and they cast a spell of majestic awe, the images need no other justification, and “Voyage of Time: Life’s Journey” is full of them. Written and directed by Terrence Malick , the film is a mystic love poem to the unfathomable splendor of the natural world — which, if you get close enough to it, is out of this world. The version of “Voyage of Time” that premiered at the Venice Film Festival is 90 minutes of spectacularly beautiful nature-ific eye candy. It was shot, however, for IMAX , and when a very different version of it opens next month on IMAX screens, it will be only 45 minutes long. (The feature-length film will be released in select international markets starting next year.)
That, make no mistake, is a good thing. “Voyage of Time” has too many spellbinding images to count, but as a movie it’s just OK. It’s exactly what it sounds like — essentially an expanded version of the cosmic prologue from Malick’s “The Tree of Life.” But that sequence seduced you with its trippy splendor, presented the entire formation of the Earth, and turned that into a heavy contemplation of a higher power… all in 20 minutes.
In “Voyage of Time,” more of this becomes less — not because the film is boring (it glides by), but because it’s at once captivating and diffuse, a grab-bag of wonder set against a narration of solemn quasi-banality read by Cate Blanchett, with interwoven shots of people from around the planet, most of them photographed with a cell-phone camera (the new equivalent of grainy shaky 16mm), which doesn’t add up to much because these sequences feel arbitrary and vaguely didactic. A montage of American homeless people; an Israeli wedding; a ceremony in a rural Asian town square that involves the ritual slaughter of water buffalo. These sequences tend to sap the film’s momentum (they make it sag), and that’s one reason it loses power as it goes along. “Voyage of Time” is like a more contemplative, fragmented, throw-everything-at-the-wall version of “Koyaanisqatsi” with narration by Rod McKuen.
Popular on Variety
These days, when everything is divided into oppositional tribes, two camps that are most definitely not speaking to each other are the Creationists and those who believe in evolutionary science. But Malick, as a film artist, is like a walking truce between those two points of view. He’s a New Age Christian sentimentalist who makes explicitly religious movies (more and more, they’re about talking to God), and the theme of “Voyage of Time” is that there’s a Creator, and he has created life, and that is a splendid thing, but we cannot know his grand plan. Here, though, as in “The Tree of Life,” Malick presents a vision of the cosmos that’s essentially “scientific”: the brilliantly multicolored oozing waves of galactic light matter, the otherworldly species under the sea that suggest rungs on the evolutionary ladder.
A vast team of visual-effects artists worked on “Voyage of Time” (led by Dan Glass, the film’s visual effects supervisor), and part of what’s captivating about the movie is that it’s hard to tell where the effects leave off and the natural photography begins. The celestial visions of outer space were, for the most part, created, and Malick orchestrates them like a painter of light and gravity — they’re like something on a Sistine Chapel ceiling that moves. But were all of them created? Much of the staggering nebula look like actual telescopic images, and when the film is under the sea, gazing at some creature that looks for all the world like an octopus with tentacles made of Romaine lettuce, we think, “Is that thing… real ?” The same goes for hellishly billowing volcano smoke and shots of fragmented glacier ice. The confusion is intentional. Malick is telling us that nature will always be the ultimate special effect.
You might say that Malick’s philosophy in “Voyage of Time” is a version of “intelligent design,” yet somehow that phrase sells it short. He sees God’s touch in the glory and strangeness of every natural surface — a flower of extraordinary delicacy whose outer petals look like a wedding dress and whose inner petals look like shark’s teeth, or jellyfish pulsating with such diaphanous synchronization that we can’t help but have the feeling that there’s something purposeful about them. The message of the images in “Voyage of Time” is that if you’re searching for God, you need do little more than cast your eye over everything on Earth.
The film’s narration, unfortunately, is of a less intelligent design. It’s meant to be incantatory, a poem of sacramental inquiry, with Blanchett speaking to the higher power of nature, to the very spirit of life , whom she personifies as “Mother” (how’s that for ancient and post-feminist at the same time?), asking Her questions that have no answer: “Who are you, life giver? Light bringer?” A little of this goes a long way, especially when, half an hour later, Blanchett is still at it, saying things like “All life. Giver of good. Creating yourself. In ever-changing shapes. You give. Without asking.” Or the slightly perplexing “Who am I to you? You devour yourself, only to give birth to yourself again.” I kept waiting for Blanchett to add, “I’m here till Tuesday. And are you, life giver?” If an Imax nature movie is going to turn into a prayer, it should be one that’s a bit more varied.
Making a film that has the contemporary aspect of a planetarium show is, in its way, a deeply cool and populist thing to do, and “Voyage of Time” is likely to connect with audiences in a way that the blurry poetic narratives Malick has been making of late — “Knight of Cups,” “To the Wonder” — have not. “The Tree of Life” was a masterpiece, because it wedded visual poetry to masterfully staged scenes. It was filmmaking, not dithering, and it proved that Malick could indeed find a form for his metaphysical obsessions. He finds a form in “Voyage of Time,” but if he continues down this path, it would be nice to see him shake off a little of the excess mysticism and make a nature movie whose final effect is an honest “Wow!” rather than a semi-enraptured “Hmmm.”

- Janelle Monáe Joins Already Stacked Cast Of Pharrell Williams Movie Musical
Janelle Monáe has been added to the already stacked cast in the forthcoming musical from Pharrell Williams .
Universal Pictures announced on Thursday (May 2) that the “Tightrope” singer will star in the Michel Gondry-directed and Pharrell-produced film.
The film is reportedly set in Virginia Beach in the summer of 1977, inspired by the neighborhood where Williams grew up, particularly the Atlantis Apartments.
Other actors set to be featured in the film include Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Halle Bailey , Brian Tyree Henry and rap legend Missy Elliott .
Fans who can’t wait to see Missy Elliott in the movie can check her out on tour this summer.
Last month, the pioneering rapper announced the Out of This World Tour with support from Busta Rhymes , Timbaland , and Ciara .
Missy’s first-ever headlining tour, the 24-city trek will take the quartet across North America this summer, beginning July 4 in Vancouver.
From there, Missy and co. will make stops in cities such as Los Angeles, Houston, Atlanta, New York, and Toronto before closing things out on August 22 in Rosemont, Illinois.
A comedic trailer for the tour showed Missy, Busta, and CiCi walking out of a colossal spaceship dressed in extraterrestrial outfits, with a narrator saying: “The year 2024, these three icons come together to show you something you’ve never seen before.”
However, the trio quickly realized they landed on the wrong planet, with Bus-a-Bus taking the blame: “Ah shit! I done bust the wrong turn at Mars real quick.”

Missy then called up Timbo before rerouting their voyage to its intended destination: Earth.
The trailer was directed by Dave Meyers, the award-winning director behind iconic Missy videos like “Get Ur Freak On” and “One Minute Man.”
“This is an incredible time in my life as I am experiencing so many milestone ‘firsts,’” Elliott said in a press release. “Being the FIRST female Hip Hop artist to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and now going out on my FIRST headline tour.
“Fans have been asking me to tour forever but I wanted to wait until I felt the time was right because I knew if I was ever going to do it, I had to do it big, and I had to do it with family!”
“So get ready to be taken OUT OF THIS WORLD with me, Busta Rhymes, Ciara, and Timbaland! We can’t wait to share this experience with the fans!”

Malick's style of finding the sublime in the everyday is a wonderful double-edged sword. The images he captures are truly extraordinary and are suffused with a spirituality that's so rarely found, and at the same time I find it can be quite exhausting as well: for how gorgeous that shot of wheat field is, there's only so many shots of wheat fields I can see before I start getting a little restless.
Voyage of Time: The IMAX Experience (what a name) may not necessarily be Malick at his peak, but it's a work that surprisingly curbs all the subjective weaknesses I have with him. The shortness of its length admittedly leaves a lot to be desired (something that wasn't an…

This movie is a landmark vision...it's pure poetry, hypnotic in its beauty. I read that every scene was created in consultation with scientists expert in those fields and it shows.
Review by Hutch ★★½ 4
This is Terrence Malick in full wonder mode, and while I can’t vouch for its effectiveness or otherwise on the IMAX scale, I certainly struggled with it on my merely human scale. It starts with abstract space spunk before leading into heavily CGI’d approximations of reality, mixed in with shots of real reality at its most infernally spectacular and preternaturally beautiful. The beauty of nature in Malick’s lens is overwhelming. Even the primitive humans have got perfect teeth*. Rising above its immaculate conception hovers a whispering Brad Pitt uttering banalities. This is surely the ultimate in dreadful voiceovers, operating to the logic of a random awestruck word generator. There is some great music in here by the likes of Mahler, Beethoven, Bach, Pärt, Poulenc and Kancheli, but it’s all somehow made to sound less great.
Terrence Malick Ranked
* Milo has kindly pointed out that bad teeth are more of a modern phenomenon.

That was me for the entirety of Terrence Malick's Voyage of Time: An IMAX Experience. I hope the Life's Journey cut comes out soon because I'm only hungry for more after seeing this. Imagine the creation sequence from The Tree of Life but into a 40 minute documentary. Brad Pitt's narration is so soothing it has the fatherly touch most Malick's films have. Visually stunning in every regard, Malick brings beauty to every moment and wastes no time in sharing the world with us. Magnificent in execution Voyage of Time left me wanting more which I hope Life's Journey fills in December. I am blown away as I usually am with Malick's work and I hope you all get a chance to see this beauty on the big screen. All I am left with is that Voyage of Time is magnificent.

An immersive one-of-a-kind celebration.
This IMAX version of the picture, a 45-minute examination of the known universe, is a sprawling, meditative, and visually beautiful magical history tour filled with inspiring sights and profound observations. Malick has created something both distinctly his own and wholly singular.
Voyage of Time is pure visual poetry. But it’s also beautifully written and narrated. Brad Pitt brings a sense of gravitas to Malick’s words, which observe the universe with childlike wonder. It tells the story of our world from the Big Bang all the way through to the present day and beyond. Pitt’s raspy voiceover gives them a precise meaning.
The movie unfolds like a letter to someone discovering the mysteries of the universe for…

Review by Jordan Raup ★★★★ 1
I haven't seen Life's Journey yet, but there's a lot to admire in this shorter, 45-minute IMAX version. Aside from being stunned by every shot, I found Malick's framing device to be affecting. The introductory text is omniscient and Brad Pitt's narration is inquisitive, then Malick's recurring cuts to a child place the entire journey as if we're seeing it through their eyes. It's a humbling perspective to behold as we elegantly glide through, well, everything , strengthened by the staggering clarity in each frame. Malick's entire career has been showing the beauty all around us, but Voyage of Time is his most direct plea that we don't take it for granted. While I look forward to seeing the 90-minute version, this one, at the very least, should be required viewing for kids. If you're not one, it strikes the difficult balance of making one feel infinitesimal and integral at the same time.

Malick's eye and the elements of cinematic composition he brings makes this a step above other imax experiences.
A beautiful historical view of the univeral shows time from the beginning into the far future. It's like science's answer to Mother!
Review by Robert Franco
1. Regardless of whether they were aware of it or not, it warmed my heart to see parents taking their kids to the Science Center to see a Terrence Malick film. 2. Malick should start writing children's books. 3. See this in IMAX or don't see it at all. 4. Malick knows.
Review by Tyler Ward ★★★★★
After five years of being basically inaccessible to American audiences outside of a few select IMAX screenings across the country, MUBI has finally made Terrence Malick's Voyage of Time widely available for the first time. It's worth noting, for those who don't know, that there are actually two versions of this film: a feature-length version featuring narration by Cate Blanchett, and a shorter, 45-minute version designed to be shown in IMAX theaters in science centers and other institutions, narrated by Brad Pitt. It's the latter version of this documentary that is currently streaming on MUBI.
But really, the term "documentary" is a bit of a misnomer here. While Voyage of Time certainly isn't a narrative film, it's also far removed…

Elisabeth Moss embraces her best role yet as a secret agent in 'The Veil'
David Bianculli

Elisabeth Moss plays British spy Imogen Salter in The Veil.
The new FX on Hulu series The Veil is a spy show about several different spy agencies – from the United States, England and France – all after the same goal. They want to discover the details of a suspected new Sept. 11-type terrorist plot, reportedly emanating from the Middle East, and stop it before it happens.
Sometimes these organizations work together – sometimes they work against one another. But throughout, the agent who is most crucial to cracking the case is a British superspy temporarily going under the name of Imogen. She's played by Elisabeth Moss , of Mad Men and The Handmaid's Tale , and by the end of the six episodes of The Veil, I was convinced that this is Moss' best role, and best performance, yet. She's amazing.
As a secret agent, Imogen has plenty of secrets of her own, which unfold slowly as the miniseries progresses. She's a damaged soul with a haunted past – which, for her latest mission, turns out to be a valuable asset. She's been charged to locate and befriend a woman who recently surfaced in a refugee camp on the Syrian and Turkish border.
Elisabeth Moss: From Naif To Player On TV's 'Mad Men'
The woman, going by the name Adilah (Yumna Marwan), claims to be of Algerian descent, and from France — but several spy agencies suspect her of being the elusive mastermind behind the rumored imminent terrorist plot. Imogen's mission is to locate Adilah, who is held under guard at the camp after being attacked and stabbed by other refugees. Imogen offers to help Adilah escape, while getting close enough to try to ascertain her true identity, motives and target.
Elisabeth Moss and Yumna Marwan are more alike than either initially suspect in The Veil. Christine Tamalet/FX hide caption
Elisabeth Moss and Yumna Marwan are more alike than either initially suspect in The Veil.
The terrorist Imogen is hunting is known as Djinn al Raqqa – in folklore, a shape-shifting genie who can assume any form. Is Adilah actually Djinn al Raqqa hiding in plain sight? Or is she as innocent as she claims? Imogen, a shapeshifter of sorts herself, uses all her spycraft skills to earn Adilah's trust, by helping her in her quest to cross borders and return to Paris, where her young daughter awaits.
Their journey is fascinating, with each probing to learn the other's secrets while protecting her own. It's a bit like Homeland where you, the viewer, are unsure of each character's true motives. And as the two women go off the grid and spend time with each other, avoiding all the authorities trying to locate them, their relationship keeps deepening.
In that way, The Veil is a bit like Thelma & Louise . Except, sometimes, it's more like Thelma v. Louise. Both characters are delightfully unpredictable. In one scene, Imogen takes Adilah to a smuggler they hope will give them new passports and identities to get to Paris. Imogen's plan is to have them pose as singers and belly dancers. But their proposed cover is at risk when the smuggler decides to test them a little by demanding that Adilah display her skills — which she does, leaving both Imogen and the smuggler suitably impressed.
These two actors are incredibly nuanced and well-matched in these roles – captivating as adversaries, and even more so if and when they decide to become allies. The writer and creator of The Veil , Steven Knight from Peaky Blinders and All the Light We Cannot See , explores their relationship brilliantly. But he also keeps escalating the terrorist plot, and following the many agents and agencies trying to crack it. One special standout here is Josh Charles, from The Good Wife and Sports Night, who is cast as an aggressive CIA agent on French soil – an ugly American in Paris. He plays his part perfectly.
Even so, The Veil, at its core, is the story of two shape-shifting survivors who are more alike than either of them suspected – and whose realization of that fact may, or may not, stop a horrifying terrorist attack. It's quite a voyage – and quite a drama.

‘The Wheel of Time' Season 3: Cast, Release Window, and Everything We Know So Far
More magic and action await when they return for another epic season!
Quick Links
When is 'the wheel of time' season 3 coming out, where can you 'the wheel of time' season 3, is there 'the wheel of time' season 3 trailer, who stars in 'the wheel of time' season 3, who is making 'the wheel of time' season 3, what is the story of 'the wheel of time' season 3.
The second season of The Wheel of Time just ended, and for those wondering if a third season is on the way, the answer is a big yes. A Prime Video original, The Wheel of Time Season 3 was announced a year ahead of its second season premiere, in July 2022. Prime Video’s The Wheel of Time is adapted by Rafe Judkins , from the bestselling, eponymous novel series of the same name written by Robert Jordan , under the pen name of James Oliver Rigney Jr.
Created as an epic fantasy tale comprising magic, war, love, drama, and action, The Wheel of Time became a breakout hit and gained immense popularity among fans of the books as well as fantasy buffs. If the show’s first season was a huge critical and commercial success, the second season surpassed the popularity, with rave reviews from critics, with Collider's own Carly Lane describing it as “A Darker, Fractured, More Thrilling Turn for the Series.” Ending with an explosive finale, the second season’s ending effectively paves the way for another exciting new season. Season 3 of The Wheel of Time series is set to be adapted from the fourth book, The Shadow Rising . At the 2023 New York Comic Con, Judkins also teased the plot arcs and what to expect in the upcoming third season. While you wait for the release announcement and other updates on the third season, check out what to expect from The Wheel of Time Season 3, including the potential plot, cast and characters, and everything we know.
The Wheel of Time
Set in a high fantasy world where magic exists, but only some can access it, a woman named Moiraine crosses paths with five young men and women. This sparks a dangerous, world-spanning journey. Based on the book series by Robert Jordan.
Since the second season ended this October and the storylines of the upcoming season were just announced, it would be a while before The Wheel of Time Season 3 gets a release date. Looking at its past production timelines, it’s safe to say that the upcoming third season will probably arrive some time in late 2024. Watch this space for the latest updates on the release date of The Wheel of Time Season 3.
How 'The Wheel of Time' Sets Up a Season 3
A Prime Video original, The Wheel of Time streams exclusively on the streamer. So, whenever the new season arrives, you can watch it on Prime Video for a subscription. For those yet to catch up on the show, both the first and second seasons are currently streaming on Prime Video. You can also buy the first season on Apple TV, Vudu, and Microsoft store.
At the moment, there is no news on the trailer or teaser for The Wheel of Time Season 3, and we can only expect a promo once the filming for the new season has begun or at least when the release date is confirmed. So, stay tuned for the latest updates on the official trailer of The Wheel of Time Season 3.
The ensemble cast of The Wheel of Time is easily one of the biggest highlights of the series. The main cast members from the second season are expected to reprise their roles for the third season along with other important characters from the previous seasons since everyone’s stories are interconnected. So, for Season 3, the returning members would include Rosamund Pike as Moiraine Damodred, Josha Stradowski as Rand al'Thor, Sophie Okonedo as Siuan Sanche, Daniel Henney as al'Lan Mandragoran, Dónal Finn as Mat Cauthon, Madeleine Madden as Egwene Al'Vere, Zoë Robbins as Nynaeve al'Meara, and Marcus Rutherford as Perrin Aybara.
Some of the recurring characters from the first season, including Álvaro Morte as Logain Ablar, Jennifer Cheon Garcia as Leane Sharif, Johann Myers as Padan Fain, Taylor Napier as Maksim, and Emmanuel Imani as Ihvon, were promoted to main roles in Season 2. So, most likely, we will be seeing them in Season 3 as well. Other cast members like Guy Roberts , Arnas Fedaravicius , Gregg Chillingirain , Meera Syal , Natasha O'Keeffe , Maja Simonsen , Ragga Ragnars , Jay Duffy , Rima Te Wiata , Thomas Chaanhing , Ceara Coveney , Ayoola Smart , Laia Costa , etc. who were added to the second season could also be reprising their roles for The Wheel of Time Season 3, albeit depending on how the creators adapt the stories from the books.
Rafe Judkins created The Wheel of Time for Prime Video as an original series. A screenwriter and producer, Judkins is best known for writing and producing Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D . and Netflix’s Hemlock Grove . He has also previously written for the spy-comedy series Chuck , My Own Worst Enemy , and the 2022 action-adventure film Uncharted . He also appeared as a contestant on Survivor Season 11.
Judkins also serves as the series showrunner and an executive producer. Rick Selvage , Larry Mondragon , Ted Field , Mike Weber , Darren Lemke , Marigo Kehoe , and Sanaa Hamri also executive produce. Rosamund Pike serves as the producer with production managed by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon Studios, along with Radar Pictures, Iwot Pictures, Long Weekend, and Little Island Productions. Scottish composer and record producer Lorne Balfe composes the music for the fantasy series, which makes for an integral element of its production. Balfe is best known for his work in films like MCU’s Black Widow and shows like The Crown and Genius , the latter of which earned him an Emmy nomination.
Judkins hinted at what to expect from the first episode of the new season, saying:
“The first 15 minutes of Season 3 is one of the most bonkers set pieces I’ve ever seen on television. I was just watching it this week and it is absolutely bananas what our team pulled off … just a bunch of women in their 40s and 50s shredding each other, and it is wonderful to behold.”
The series concluded production on March 22, 2024.
'The Wheel of Time' Showrunner Breaks Down the Season 2 Finale's Epic Battle
As showrunner Judkins revealed on X (formerly known as Twitter), “S3 is even more sophisticated and rich and deep than S2.”
The Wheel of Time Season 3 will pick up from where the second season ended . In the season 2 finale , we saw a final battle where Rand is declared as the Dragon who will ultimately save the world from falling into darkness. He is also reunited with his friends and they all fight against the Strangers and Whitecloaks. Mat Cauthon blows the Horn of Valere and summons all the heroes of the Horn to fight in the last battle. So based on this, we can expect the upcoming season to be dominated by Rand’s arc, where he would have a big responsibility and role in the story.
In the fourth book, The Shadow Rising , from which the upcoming season is being adapted, Rand has decreed himself as the Dragon Reborn, Padan is out for revenge, and a coup happens. So, these few arcs could become the storylines for the third season. However, as we have seen so far in the show, the third season will also not be a word-by-word adaptation of the book, but rather built around the growth of its characters.
Star Wars: Tales of the Empire – Full cast list explored
Star Wars: Tales of the Empire is slated to arrive on May 4, 2024, taking the franchise down another lane of storyline as the sprawling Star Wars universe expands. The series has six episodes that present the parallel journeys of two characters in different timelines as the universe around them changes.
Star Wars: Tales of the Empire follows the same format as Tales of the Jedi where two characters, Count Dooku and Ahsoka Tano, were presented parallelly.
Star Wars: Tales of the Empire has most voice actors returning to the roles they have voiced before. Additionally, some actors who have played live-action characters have voiced the same character here, making the show authentic.
Star Wars: Tales of the Empire - The main cast and their characters explored
Diana lee inosanto.
Inosanto voices Morgan Elsbeth, whom fans have already seen in The Mandalorian and Ahsoka . Inosanto played Elsbeth in live-action in Ahsoka and is voicing the character now. In Mandalorian , she was seen as the Magistrate of Calodan, holding her signature beskar spear.
Elsbeth is a formidable Nightsister warrior with Force magick powers. She serves Thrawn and can go to any length to defeat her opponent. Star Wars: Tales of the Empire will show how she came to side with the Empire after her planet Dathomir was destroyed.
Meredith Salenger
Meredith plays Barriss Offee , a former Jedi warrior. Meredith voiced the character before in Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clone and The Clone Wars and continues to do the same in the upcoming series. The character of Barriss Offee was shown locked in a prison as punishment.
The upcoming series finds the Grand Inquisitor and Fourth Sister releasing her from prison and utilizing her talents in the Inquisitorious Program of the Empire. She had betrayed the Jedi Order and her friend Ahsoka. Now the ex-Jedi joins the Empire's high ranks.
Lars Mikkelsen
Mikkelsen famously plays Admiral Thrawn, both voicing him and playing him in live-action. He was seen before playing the dark villain in Ahsoka and voicing the character in Rebels . An alien from Chiss, Thrawn does not use any Force power or magical power but utilizes his mind as a weapon to strategize.
In the upcoming series, Admiral Thrawn is yet to ascend to the position of Grand Admiral. However, he allies with Elsbeth after her people are massacred and advises her to redirect her anger to assist the Empire.
Jason Isaacs
Jason Isaacs voiced the Grand Inquisitor in Rebels and is returning to Star Wars: Tales of the Empire to voice the character again.
Isaacs' Grand Inquisitor was a Jedi Temple guard originally from planet Utapau. However, he joined the Empire and started hunting the Jedi. While he trained Barriss to unlearn the Jedi, he took on Darth Vader, who supervises the program, as his master.
Rya Kihlstedt
Rya played Fourth Sister/Lyn in live-action and is returning to voice the character. Fourth Sister is a discreet shadowy character who makes a supportive appearance for the Grand Inquisitor. As with the Grand Inquisitor and others in her rank, the Fourth Sister also submits to Darth Vader.
Seen previously in Obi-Wan Kenobi with the Third Sister and the Fifth Brother, Lyn or Fourth Sister is an Inquisitor known by her spinnable double-bladed lightsaber. She will be seen in the upcoming Disney+ series assisting the Grand Inquisitor in training Barriss into another Inquisitor like her.
Matthew Wood
Matthew Wood, who is the Star Wars sound editor, will be voicing General Grievous in the upcoming series. He had previously voiced the character in the Revenge of the Sith and The Clone Wars. He is a ruthless cyborg who trained with Count Dooku and can wield four lightsabers simultaneously.
He kills Jedi and adds their lightsabers to his collection. His biggest mistake was to commit mass genocide of Nightsisters under orders from Count Dooku. Star Wars: Tales of the Empire will give Elsbeth's perspective of the horrifying event.
Wing Tao Chao
Wing Tao Chao, played the character of Wing in live-action and has returned as the voice actor for the character. Wing, the character, was last seen in The Mandalorian . He represents the compassionate humans of Calodan who were trying to survive under the ruthless governorship of Elsbeth.
In Star Wars: Tales of the Empire, Wing will be seen trying to dissuade Elsbeth from employing the Empire's rules in Calodan but will fail, as is already known.
Star Wars: Tales of the Empire - Other characters in the series
While many other side characters have not received much mention so far, Darth Vader must be mentioned as an important character. However, ever since James Earl Jones retired, Darth has been voiced by AI. This was done previously in Obi-Wan Kenobi and will be repeated in the upcoming Disney+ series.
Marrok is another character, whom the fans know from Ahsoka . As shown in the trailer , he will be seen here as a prime Inquisitor. In Ahsoka , Paul Darnell played Marrok. However, the voice actor for Marrok in Star Wars: Tales of the Empire is unknown.
An unidentified Inquisitor in a skull mask, seen in Tales of the Jedi is again seen in the trailer of Star Wars: Tales of the Empire. In his previous appearance, Clancy Brown voiced him, but the voice actor in the upcoming series is as yet unknown.
Watch out for Star Wars: Tales of the Empire, scheduled for release on May 4, 2024, on Disney+.
