Garda by Bike - Ciclovia del Garda around Lake Garda

  • From Peschiera to Mantova
  • On the wine route
  • Valle dei Laghi
  • Valle delle Cartiere

By 2026, the completion of a 140 km cycle path Ciclovia del Garda around Lake Garda is planned. For the ambitious project Garda by Bike, partially existing bike paths will be used and additionally new tracks will be built.

The circumnavigation of Lake Garda on one continuous bike path is the realisation of a bikers dream, and it's getting closer.

On July 14, 2018, a particularly beautiful section was opened. An approximately 2 km bike path leads from Capo Reamol in Limone sul Garda   on the west coast in north direction. It is partly built close to rugged cliffs and also above the water and therefore gives fantastic views. However, it does not already reach Riva del Garda .

The new bike path is wide and suitable for families as there are no steep climbs and the bridge sections are well secured. The bike path is paved with planks of wood and is comfortable for all types of bikes . It impresses not only cyclists but also pedestrians with scenic beauty, and architectural elegance. Athletes and nature lovers can look forward to a new holiday highlight at Lake Garda .

The Garda by Bike project involves the regions of Lombardy and Veneto, as well as the province of Trento. Links to European cycle routes such as Eurovelo Route 7 and Eurovelo Route 8 are also planned.

Tour del Lago di Garda (clockwise)

Logo Garda Trentino

Hi, I would like to ask how much of the path is strictly ...

A fantastic loop that runs round the entire perimeter of Lake Garda. The distance, which exceeds 140 kilometres, makes this itinerary suitable for the fittest cyclists.

Another "classic" for all the fans of the Upper Garda area who want to make the most of the mild climate of the lakeside area in wintertime. This route enables you to circumnavigate the largest lake in Europe, and to discover all the aspects of its beauty. Given the enormity of the lake, the distance is quite considerable, making this itinerary unsuitable for untrained cyclists.

From a technical standpoint, the route does not pose any particular problems. However, it is very hilly. It passes through various tunnels, some of which are very long, especially on the return journey. The use of lights and a high-visibility jacket are recommended. The loop can be cycled in both directions; however, we recommend departing in the morning when the Paler is blowing southwards, as this helps us along.

Author’s recommendation

These roads are often used by professional cyclists as training routes. While you’re pedalling, keep an eye on who you might meet along the way!

Track types

Safety information.

We remind that headlights and rearlights as well as the use of reflecting suspenders are obligatory in tunnels, even considering that most of these are illuminated.

Give your bike a regular checkup, especially if you've had it for years.

Be seen: you must wear a high vis jacket (or sash) in tunnels and on country roads after sunset.

Always wear your helmet.

Make sure your front and rear lights are working.

Put out your arm to give advance warning of your intention to change position and before you do anything, check there are no vehicles coming up behind you.

Don't use headphones or your mobile phone handsfree kit: you need all your concentration on the road!

Obey the road signs: stop at traffic lights and don't ride on the wrong side of the road.

If you are cycling in a group, always go in single file.

You've got a bell: use it to let pedestrians know you're there. Don't ride on footpaths. If you have to then get off and push your bike.

If there are cycle paths use them. It's your safety that's at stake and the rules of the road say you must.

Tips and suggestions

Destination

Turn-by-turn directions.

From Riva del Garda take the cycle path up to Torbole sul Garda, afterwards follow the “Gardesana Orientale (Eastern Gardesana)” road, which flanks the Lake Garda for 10 km,  leading for some stretches into tunnels. Passing from Trentino into the region Veneto you arrive in Malcesine. Carry on always flanking the lake, passing through the characteristic veronese villages of Brenzone, Castelletto, Torri del Benaco, Garda, Bardolino e Lazise. Here do the Pre-Alps end and the Po Valley start: for 40 km you will have to pay attention to the several roundabouts that follow one another.

Continue past Peschiera and proceed to Desenzano entering the province of Brescia. Pass through the centre of town flanking the lake and continue past Padenghe, Moniga and Cunettone. At this roundabout turn right in the direction of Salò. After a panoramic downhill on the gulf, you'll get back onshore of the lake. Pass through Salò and take the “Gardesana Occidentale (Western Gardesana)”. Continue past Gardone and Toscolano Maderno and carry on up to Gargnano. Here starts an uphill road perched over the lake where the first tunnels characterizing the last stretch of the tour start. After a fast downhill you get back flanking Lake Garda passing the crossroad of Campione del Garda, pass through Limone sul Garda up to the starting point of Riva del Garda.

All loop itineraries can be done in both ways.

Book recommendations for this region:

Riding your bike requires specific clothing and equipment, even for relatively short and easy trips. It is always better to be prepared… e.g. for bad weather or a drop your energy levels. The unexpected things also make up a part of the fun!

Do not compare a road bike with a mountain bike. They are very different, especially in technical terms, and facing a hill with a road bike could be much more difficult than facing the same hill with a MTB. Therefore, remember to throughly evaluate the type of route you plan to do and the locations you plan to cross. Do not forget to consider the current season. Has it been raining? Attention: the paint of the crosswalk could be very slick.

What do I need to bring on my bike tour?

  • Bike helmet
  • Bike gloves
  • Bike glasses
  • Waterproof/Windproof jacket
  • Headlights and rearlights
  • Reflecting suspenders
  • Plenty of snacks (for example, dried fruit or energy bars)
  • Water Bottle
  • Bike repair kit (tire levers, mini bike pump, bike tube)

It is always advised to let someone know where you plan to go and how long you expect to be.

Map for cycling around Lake Garda

Day 1: Individual arrival in Desenzano / Sirmione

Welcome to Northern Italy! Your bike tour around Lake Garda starts on the south-western shore of Italy's largest lake. After your accommodation, take a walk to the old harbour of Desenzano and visit the remains of the 11th century castle. The town of Sirmione lies on a peninsula jutting into Lake Garda. Here, too, a castle is particularly worth seeing, the Castello Scaligero . You will spend the night in Desenzano or in Sirmione.

Sirmione

Day 2: Desenzano / Sirmione – Garda, approx. 45 km

Along the lakeshore and through the rolling hills of the Lugana wine-growing area (you should definitely try the white wine!) you reach the historic fortress complex of Peschiera. At first you continue cycling along the lake, after a few kilometres some sections in the hinterland. Through apple orchards and past the vineyards of Bardolino, your destination for the day is Garda. The town gave its name to Lake Garda and impresses with historic churches, buildings and squares.

Cyclists at Lake Garda

Cyclists at Lake Garda

Day 3: Garda – Torbole / Riva, approx. 65 km

Treat yourself to a cappuccino on Garda's beautiful lakeside promenade before leaving the town in the direction of the Adige Valley. Accompanied by olive groves and vineyards, you follow the Adige cycle path for quite a while. Not far from the village of Mori you leave the Adige and cycle over the Passo San Giovanni , a mountain pass, to Torbole or Riva. You have reached the northern shore of Lake Garda. Do you still have energy for a few metres of ascent? Visit the ruins of Castel Penede above Torboles. Enjoy a regional wine and the view of Lake Garda at the end of the stage on the piazza in Riva next to the slightly leaning Torre Apponale - the tower is the town's landmark.

Torbole

Day 4: Excursion to the Sarca Valley, approx. 50 km

Today your suitcases will be left behind and you will take an excursion into the valley of the Sarca River on your bike tour around Lake Garda. It is the main tributary of Lake Garda. You follow it into the valley, with a view of the surrounding Garda mountains, as far as Pietramurata. Relax and follow the river back to Lake Garda. On the way, pay a visit to the fortress of Arco. Situated on a prominent rocky hill, today's ruins can be reached via a path lined by olive groves. After enjoying the view, head back to Lake Garda.

Pietramurata

Pietramurata

Day 5: Torbole / Riva – Salò, approx. 65 km + transfer

In the morning, a transfer takes you to Lake Ledro. From the small mountain lake you cycle towards Lake Idro. The picturesque alpine lake will accompany you for a while, during which you can enjoy the magnificent view of the green mountain slopes. On the cycle path through the Val Sabbia, the descent is almost imperceptible. The small town of Salò is your destination for the day. Stroll through the winding alleys and along the lakeside promenade while enjoying a delicious ice cream. Perfetto !

Saló

Day 6: Salò – Desenzano / Sirmione, approx. 40 / 45 km

This section runs through the hilly hinterland dotted with small towns. With Desenzano you reach Lake Garda. Enjoy a dip in the cool water at one of the beaches and rent a pedal boat at the harbour to get to know the lake from a different perspective. In Sirmione, a detour to the Grotte di Catullo is worthwhile. The ruins of a Roman villa from the 1st century will make the heart of anyone interested in history and archaeology beat faster. On the last evening of your bike tour around Lake Garda, toast with one of the wines from the surrounding vineyards.

Lake Garda is one of the most interesting destinations for bike tourism : its territory is wide and rich in bike trails that will satisfy any need. In fact, the Lake is surrounded by mountains to the north, by hills and vineyards to the south, and also has many flat stretches, perfect for an afternoon of relaxation.

Here are the best bike trails to enjoy the beautiful landscapes of Lake Garda : the paths are divided according to the region in which they are located and the difficulty.

Come discover the magic of Lake Garda on two wheels!

Bike Trails on western Lake Garda (Lombardy)

Sirmione and lugana vineyards.

  • Level: easy
  • Duration: 2.5 h
  • Length: 32 km (19 miles)
  • Towns: Sirmione , Pozzolengo, San Martino ( Desenzano )

This trail is perfect for wine lovers , since it guides you through the vineyards of Lugana , a fine local white wine. The route starts from the Pier of Sirmione and heads south, towards the tower of San Martino della Battaglia (a hamlet of Desenzano).

The trail continues until Pozzolengo , a small and quiet village south from Sirmione, and then back north through the vineyards: you will reach the beach in Punta Grò , where you can take a dip in the lake before going back to the pier of Sirmione.

Cycle-pedestrian path in Limone sul Garda

This trail is very short and easy, but it’s really worth a visit because of its breathtaking landscape: when it was inaugurated in 2018, it was defined as “ the most beautiful bike path in Europe ”. And with good reason: this trail is built overhanging the lake , suspended between sky and water.

To date this route is pretty short, so that you can also walk on it, but soon it will become part of a bigger project called “ Garda by bike ”: in a few years, we will be able to bike around the perimeter of Lake Garda, away from traffic.

Valtenesi Bike Trail

  • Level: medium
  • Duration: 3 h 30 mins
  • Length: 48 km (30 miles)
  • Towns: Salò, Manerba, Moniga, Lonato, Padenghe, Polpenazze, Puegnago

This route is more challenging than previous ones, but if you want to spend an afternoon discovering the castles and hills of western Lake Garda, that’s probably the best way. This area, called Valtènesi , is dedicated to the production of the homonymous wine : don’t miss the opportunity to taste it, maybe as an aperitif after a tiring ride!

The trail starts in Cunettone, a hamlet of Salò, goes south through Manerba and Moniga until Maguzzano (Lonato), then west to the Castle of Drugolo (Lonato), then up north, through Polpenazze and Puegnago, and arrives in Cunettone again.

Bike Trails on eastern Lake Garda (Veneto)

Cycle-pedestrian path lazise-punta san vigilio.

  • Duration: 45 mins
  • Length: 10 km (6.2 miles)
  • Towns: Lazise , Bardolino , Garda

The bike trails that goes from Lazise to Punta san Vigilio (Garda) is very easy (so that you can also walk on it) but also very suggestive: it starts in Lazise , and runs along the lake going north, through Cisano , Bardolino , and Garda .

It arrives in Punta San Vigilio, a spectacular bay with a small harbour and a little church. If you feel like you’re living in a painting, you are: Punta San Vigilio is the setting of one of Tiziano’s most famous paintings, Sacred and Profane Love. This trail is ideal in spring, when the sun shines but tourists have not stormed the lakefront yet.

Peschiera - Valeggio - Custoza

  • Length: 45 km (28 miles)
  • Towns: Peschiera del Garda , Monzambano, Valeggio sul Mincio, Custoza

This one is a very scenic bike trail, that winds between hills and vineyards: in fact, this area is well known for its white wine , called Custoza . Most of the route is on a unpaved road, so we suggest to take a mountain bike.

The trail starts from Peschiera del Garda, on the southern shore of Lake Garda, and leads south, crossing Monzambano , until Valeggio sul Mincio (a very suggestive little town). It then comes back through Custoza and its vineyards, up to Peschiera.

Malcesine and Monte Baldo

  • Level: difficult
  • Duration: 5 hours
  • Length: 27 km (17 miles)
  • Towns: Malcesine , Navene, Tratto Spino

This is probably one of the most difficult trails on Lake Garda, but it’s also one of the most spectacular : the difference in height is challenging , since the path climbs and descends from Monte Baldo . You will reach an altitude of over 2.000 mt , so we suggest to do this route from May to November (when there is no snow).

The track starts from Tratto Spino , then climbs through Bocca di Navene and Bocca del Creer up to Monte Altissimo . The trail then descends towards Navene, through Prati di Nago, Dosso dei Roveri and Dos Spirano: you will arrive on the beautiful cycle path of Malcesine , that runs along the Lake.

Bike Trails on northern Lake Garda (Trentino)

Ponale road.

  • Duration: 2 hours
  • Length: 8 km (5 miles)
  • Towns: Riva del Garda , Pregasina

The Ponale Road is one of the most famous routes on northern Lake Garda: it was first built in the mid-19th century to connect Riva del Garda with Ledro Valley and the small Lake Ledro , to the north-west of Lake Garda.

A large part of the route overlooks the lake and therefore offers a spectacular view of Upper Lake Garda. The trail is not difficult at all, so if you happen to be in Riva del Garda it’s surely worth a visit!

Lake Tenno Road

  • Duration: 3 hours
  • Length: 22.5 km (14 miles)
  • Towns: Riva del Garda, Tenno

This path is not particularly difficult, but has challenging uphill sections, so we recommend it to those who are already familiar with biking . It winds through vineyards and olive groves, and offers postcard-views on the lake.

The route leads from Riva del Garda to Lake Tenno , a little lake to the north of Lake Garda. If you happen to be there in the summer, don’t miss the chance to take a dip in its blue water!

Whether you’re looking for a quiet outing or a more challenging route, Lake Garda will certainly leave you satisfied!

What our guests say

We had a wonderfully organized cycle tour on great cycle paths around Lake Garda. The support during the trip deserves special mention. Above all, the transport of our e-tandem during the transfer to Lake Ledro was no problem at all and was handled very professionally. Many thanks for this wonderful experience.

Our week's holiday on Lake Garda was really great! Great hotel, impressive scenery and beautiful towns (Sirmione, Verona,...). The travel documents, route guidance, transfers,... were also perfectly organized for us. We would love to book with Eurobike again!

Very nice tours (in wonderful weather), perfectly organised, good route finding! The Hotel Mirage and the Hotel Poiano were great! Very successful overall! We'd love to do it again.

Useful information about your cycle tour on Lake Garda

Cycle paths on lake garda.

Lake Garda offers a generous network of safe cycle paths, particularly in the south and east. A frequently asked question from our guests is: “Why do we need to travel by ship from Riva to Desenzano or Sirmione? Can we not just cycle along the east bank road? The answer is no! Unfortunately, this is not possible. Due to the lively tourism on Lake Garda, the riverside roads have developed into highways. A ride on the bike is not recommended here!

The climate on Lake Garda

The weather on Lake Garda is perfect for us cyclists: a sub-Mediterranean climate favours extensive cycling in beautiful scenery. The winters are mild with low precipitation, while the summers are very warm and sunny. The Alps, which line the north of Lake Garda seal the lake from the cold air currents. In the south, on the other hand, the warm air comes up from the Mediterranean. Perfect weather for our guests!

The secret cuisine of Lake Garda

The cuisine and dishes from the Lake Garda area are very seasonal. They listen to mother nature and incorporate her gifts into the local cuisine. In spring you can often find dishes with asparagus or nettles on the menu, in summer you can enjoy fresh fish from the lake with crunchy vegetables, in autumn you can eat mushrooms and chestnuts and in winter you can enjoy delicious gingerbread with spicy mulled wine! The dishes are refined with regional products such as olive oil, wine, lemons, oranges and saffron!

CYCLING IS GOOD FOR THE SOUL…ESPECIALLY IF YOU DO IT WITH LUCKY TRAVELER!

No, the tour of Lake Garda by E-bike is not only for cycling lovers. Especially when Lucky Traveler arranges it! Even though riding a bike for kilometers without any effort seems to be impossible, you will surely change your mind as soon as you experience their E-Bike 100% made in Italy. Moreover, along the way you will have the chance to taste local wines and flavors , typical of this rich territory… let yourself be surprised by the postcard-like views you will pass by one after the other, caressed by a gentle breeze .

Stefano, together with Sara and Valerio, realized this innovative project: a sport association dedicated to cycling tourism. Their passion was the inspiring muse for the creation of a  bike experience  that everyone should try at least once in their life. The many and different  paths  follow the shores of the Lake Garda, about to reach the cities of Verona and Mantova in the future. Vineyards and blooming  villages     will surprise you with sceneries that look like straight out of a fairytale.

You will be accompanied by a  multilingual guide , throughout the entire itinerary. Every single landscape, each  stop along the way will unveil incredible secrets, which will be revealed to you along the way.

BREATHING IN HARMONY WITH NATURE

Before finding out in detail the places to visit in lake garda along all the way, let me introduce you to the team and the mission of lucky traveler..

A famous book by Jon Krakauer argues that “Happiness is only real when shared.”   Stefano, Sara and Valerio know perfectly how working together for a common goal leads to a pleasant working environment… Then think about how happy you can be, whizzing along with those you love, breathing in harmony with the  nature  that surrounds you.

Let people fall in love with the environment, the  territory  and its wealth: this is their motto. Have you ever tried to hug a  tree ? As soon as your body surrounds the trunk, you almost feel like you’re floating in the air, while your legs get lighter and lighter. You will definitely get the chance to try it on whatever route you decide to face. If the plants are  happy , surely you will be too!

In addition, the team collaborates with many companies that choose to produce in an environmentally friendly way. For this reason, in almost all the  planned itineraries, wine and local product tastings are planned. The unique and  100% Italian flavors  will enrich your experience, making it authentic and unforgettable.

The  synergy  that is created between human beings and nature is unique and, above all, not easy to grasp. Have you ever noticed that there are some places where you perceive a different, regenerating energy? Lake Garda is exactly one of those.

All the different places to visit on Lake Garda share a mild and sub-Mediterranean climate, which promotes the productivity and fertility of the territory.

now what? Well… All we have to do is get on the saddle and start cycling!

LOWER LAKE GARDA E-BIKE TOUR

The perimeter of Lake Garda is stunning: it is no less than a 158,4 km coastline! Keep in mind that it is the biggest lake in Italy. The cycle-pedestrian path that surrounds its shores entirely has not yet been completed. By car it’s approximately 2 hours long, whereas by motorbike 4 . Consequently, it is really difficult to calculate the time that it would take by bike. Be wary of those who say that it takes 6 hours …

This is why Lucky Traveler ‘s e bike tours have van average length of 25 to 30 km. Even the best tips you might have heard by word-of-mouth could never match the beauty of the tours personally envisaged by the team.

Giro lago di garda in bici

You have no less than 4 different itineraries to choose from. No worries: in every single trip, breathtaking places to visit on Lake Garda at least once in your life are waiting for you.

The first two tours will lead you to the discovery of Sirmione , reaching the countryside of Peschiera del Garda or the town of Desenzano.

The first one is a special tour, dedicated to the discovery of religious and cultural tourism . That’s not all: it will give you also the opportunity to take a closer look at some of the wine productions sited in the lower lake area. In fact, starting from the Talent Kitchen creative hub in Sirmione, you will start cycling towards a full immersion in the vineyards.

Along the way, lush views and the territory of Lugana will surprise you. Before you know it, you will be in front of the suggestive Sanctuary Madonna del Frassino . After visiting one of the rare places where the Virgin appeared, surrounded by a spiritual silence, you will move a little further on… where the natural oasis of Laghetto del Frassino is located. A small reserve of inestimable value.

Afterwards, you will return to Sirmione at around 12.30 p.m. It will be an original morning, in order to recharge the batteries.

If, on the other hand, on you day-off you want food to be the protagonist, I suggest the “ Bike Tour Colline Moreniche: Bike & Lunch “. The starting point is Rivoltella, riding along the lake… until you reach the historic center of the so-called “pearl of the lake”, which is Sirmione.

Did you know that the poet Catullo felt madly in love with this village, still one of the most popular places to visit on Lake Garda? The Scaliger Castle is one of the most majestic in the area.

After a well-earned ice cream, let’s go back for lunch at Bruschetteria “Nose” . Here you can taste unconventional bruschetta with local ingredients.

BETWEEN CASTLES AND ENCHANTED VILLAGES

Are you looking for a way to escape the summer traffic noise? Then the Tour of Lake Garda by E-Bike will take you to explore one of the most beautiful villages in Italy: Borghetto sul Mincio.

The departure point is from Porto Vecchio in Peschiera del Garda, where the start of the Mincio Cycle Path is located. The 44 km long cycle path goes directly to the UNESCO town Mantua. However, you will not have to ride it entirely. After about fifteen kilometers, a picturesque medieval village will stand out, ready to be explored. Watermills, love locks clamped onto bridges and fences, small waterfalls… your gaze will be lost in the breathtaking landscape.

Have you ever experienced stepping back in time ? Before you leave, memorize as many details as you can of this enchanted village… You do not know when and if you will have again the chance to come back here! After discovering every hidden nook and cranny, it’s time to go to Cantina Gozzi , located in the hills of Monzambano.

A rich tasting of wines and local products will help you regain the energy . You will be ready to go back.

Have you ever wondered which places to visit on Lake Garda are surrounded by mysterious secrets? The next one is exactly one of those…

The last tour organized by Lucky Traveler is an adventure between impressive mountain landscapes . A perfect chance to take unique photos of breathtaking vies. Backpack on your shoulders and off you go!

This time the starting point will be in Brentino . The wind will tickle your face as you speed past the mountains of the Adige Valley. Once in Avio, you will visit the ancient castle together with the group. The green hills all around create a magical atmosphere.

It is not a proper tour of lake Garda by E-bike . Still, this particular route has great charm. That’s not all! Before going back, Bongiovanni Farm will open its doors to welcome you with a special tasting . Local products, such as wine, cold meats and cheeses, will be the icing on the cake for one of you best days ever. At 1.30 p.m. you will return to Brentino.

I will be honest with you, it is definitely the most challenging tour… Maybe that’s why it is my favorite? I’m sure that, once is over, you will be aware that is was really worth it.

TOUR OF LAKE GARDA BY E-BIKE: WHAT SHOULD YOU TAKE ALONG?

If you are like me, you may appreciate some tips of what it is better to take with you for all the different tours. If it is so, keep reading . On the other hand, if you are not used to organize everything before the departure, I suggest you to have a look. Some things are not obvious.

The secret is primarily to have a backpack , lightweight and capacious at the same time. In it you can put everything you need, including a generous amount of water ! If your backpack is waterproof, even better, all the necessary will be safe in case of rain. Regarding this, remember also to take a k-way or waterproof poncho with you. It can always come in handy. Summer storms are merciless.

The included lunch depends on the type of tour . In any case, the many tastings along the way and at the end of it will complete your snack and leave you fully satisfied.

Another important thing to consider is which kind of shoes you should wear. For sure, I would avoid smooth-soled or running shoes; trekking shoes are the most recommendable. Comfortable and robust, they will be helpful on any surface and cycling will result to be easier.

Among the places to visit on Lake Garda and more, all the itineraries allow you to visit must-see destinations. So, you can choose the tour also according to the difficulty and your level of preparation.

Kids under 16 years can still do the tour, but with a muscle bicycle. The cost varies depending on age, but minors, however, must always be accompanied by at least one parent. There are also discounts for over 65s. The service is also accessible to people with disabilities, if they have their own bike.

A loved one who enjoys cycling gets married and you have absolutely no idea what to organize for bachelorette parties/celibacy ?

For an unforgettable surprise , Lucky Traveler is completely at your disposal. You can choose the destinations you prefer, in order to arrange with him a new, thrilling and entirely personalized itinerary. And that’s not all…

How many times have you been unsure about the best birthday gift to give to a beloved person, risking every time to be just plain and ordinary. Have you considered a totally personalized tour of lake Garda by E-bike ? You can choose the best time for you, the duration of the route and the different stops along the journey.

Another fantastic occasion to live this experience is for an original team-building. The development of the right synergy is a lot easier while cycling together. We are so lucky to be able to enjoy the natural heritage that Lake Garda offers us, thanks to the impact of its beneficial currents. They are not only good for the earth , but also for our health . Just as cycling, did you know?

In any case, remember that you will always be with a guide , who is an expert not only in the area but also in cycling. So , if you have fears that hold you back, ignore them and face them… Often, fears are just limits that we set for ourselves and that preclude the most beautiful experiences.

You have no more excuses now… writing this article made me want to go as well! Maybe we will meet there!

To more about the cycling paths around lake Garda , we also wrote an article about that!

If something indeed wasn’t as described, or went wrong with your trip, and the problem was within the control of either oursleves, the guide or the tour company, we will then work out a refund with you that’s proportional to the scale of the problem.

Obviously the best way to make a great trip is to tell your local guide or tour operator and give them the chance to fix the solution while you are on your trip. Most things can be solved by telling your guide when the issue develops. If that doesn’t solve it, then email us right away. Please don’t wait to voice your concerns until the trip is over, as it’s much harder to solve issues after the fact.

We work hard to make sure you have a great trip. If something isn’t right, please email  [email protected]  and we will get to work right away.

Itinerary for Munich to Lake Garda Bike Tour

Arrival in münich.

After your arrival in Münich, you will have the chance to explore the sights and sounds of the city before settling in for the evening ahead of your first day of cycling.

Cycle to the Starnberger See

Your first day of cycling will take you from Munich to the Starnberger See. From Starnberg, you will make your way along a scenic lakeside cycle path to Ambach. Here, the lake will tempt you with crystal-clear waters and fabulous views of the surrounding mountains.

Explore the Murnauer Moos Nature Reserve

Today you will begin by cycling through the nature reserve Murnauer Moos, which is the biggest moor area in Central Europe. Continuing onwards through unspoilt nature, you will follow the river Loisach to Garmisch Partenkirchen. This stage is deliberately kept short to allow you the opportunity to take a ride up by the Zugspitzbahn railway to a height of 2962 metres (extracurricular to the tour). From there you have a fantastic view over the Alps.

Panoramic Views of the Karwendel and Wettersteingebirge Mountains

Today you will cycle to the River Isar, making your way through a charming and sunny valley to experience incredible views of the surrounding Karwendel and Wettersteingebirge Mountains. After a break to walk through the colourful village of Mittenwald, you will continue on through the Leutaschklamm ravine to cross over into Austria.

Cycle to Imst

Today you will cycle the former towpath along the River Inn, which will take you on a descent through hilly terrain to Stams (baroque Cistercian convent). After, you will continue your tour via Haiming to Imst, the so-called “Merano of North Tyrol”.

Traverse the Reschenpass to Reschensee

Continuing along the river Inn, today’s stage of the tour will take you past the Zams monastery to Landeck. From there, a bus will take you to Nauders, where you will gain just under 100 metres in altitude while cycling uphill to the mountain pass called the 'Reschenpass'. From the pass, you will bike downhill to Lake Reschensee and continue on minor roads to Mals or to Burgeis at the foot of the castle Marienburg.

View Historical Sites on the Way to Merano

Your day will begin with a trip to Glurns, which is home to perfectly preserved medieval city walls. You will then cycle to the Montani ruins, through Schlanders, and down to Merano. On your way, you will come across some pretty castles (mountaineer Reinhold Messner’s castle Juval) and you will enjoy marvelous views of the impressive mountain massif Ortlermassiv and the mountain pass Stilfserjoch.

Bike Past Vineyards and Orchards in South Tyrol

Today’s stage will take you via Lana (Schnatterpeck Altar) and through numerous orchards and vineyards in the area of the South Tyrolean Wine Road. Here, you will make your way past many fortresses, castles, and ruins – such as Hocheppan – to reach Lake Caldaro. You will stay overnight in the cozy wine town, Auer.

Cycle to Trento

On the sixth day of your tour, you will cycle mostly along the river Adige. At times you will pass through orchards to Salurn, where the German speaking South Tyrol ends. The famous Trentino vineyards are located next to the dam ways, which lead you to Trento. This beautiful city is home to a lovely old town, a cathedral, and Buonconsiglio castle.

Take in the Natural Beauty of Lake Garda

Today, you will continue cycling on bike paths along the river Adige via the old Tyrolean border town of Rovereto to Mori. From there, the route leads westward to Lake Garda. In Mori you will taste the world famous pistachio ice-cream in the Gelateria Bologna. After a short climb onto Passo S. Giovanni (150 metres), you will head down to the lake to Riva.

Departure Day

After breakfast, you will pack your things and make an individual departure from the shores of Lake Garda to end the tour.

Trek Roscoe 24

Trek Roscoe 24

Roscoe 24 is a mid-fat kids' mountain bike designed to build confidence on the trail. It takes cues from the adult Roscoe, but this ride was built from the ground up for kids. 2.8" mid-fat tires, a 1x drivetrain, and a wide-range cassette make Roscoe the ideal bike for little rippers who want to build skills and have a ridiculous amount of fun keeping up with Mom, Dad, or an older sibling. Fit for riders 51-59" tall. It's right for you if... Your little shredder is ready to hop off the neighborhood streets and onto the trail, and you want to get them started the right way with a real-deal mountain bike that builds skills and confidence from the outset. If you're looking to teach your little one the wisdom of the trail, there's no better teaching tool than Roscoe. The tech you get A durable Alpha Gold Aluminum frame with a sloping top tube for added clearance, 24" wheels with mid-fat 2.8" tires for added traction and stability, a 1x8 Shimano drivetrain with a wide-range cassette for hills and technical sections, mechanical disc brakes, and loads of thoughtful details borrowed from adult MTB tech, like a closed front dropout and a tucked-in rear brake caliper so when kids drop their Roscoe it doesn't mean an automatic trip to the shop for a replacement part. The final word Give a kid a Roscoe and you'll make a mountain biker for life. Mid-fat tires and a wealth of kid-specific design details make this bike the perfect introduction to the trail. If your little one is ready to tag along when you hit the singletrack, this is the kid-friendly set-up that's made to build confidence, skills, and a healthy obsession with the world's greatest activity. Why you'll love it - There's no family outing as fun as a trail session, and Roscoe is the ideal kids' bike for building great memories - This isn't a small adult bike—it's built from the ground up for kids, by people who know exactly what works for them and what doesn't - When you're learning to ride, simplicity is best: a 1x8 drivetrain lets kids focus on keeping the rubber side down - The kid-specific frame geometry has a sloping top tube that makes it easier to hop on and off - The rear brake caliper is tucked into the frame to help prevent damage from laying the bike down
