Arsenal Football Club Supporters Malaysia

Arsenal crest on Emirates Stadium

Arsenal Malaysia - formerly known as Arsenal FC Supporters Club Malaysia - was initially launched in 1999 when a handful of supporters formed the backbone of the club. The first major gathering was at Pearl Point International Hotel for the UEFA Cup final match against Galatasaray.

AFCSM is a registered society in Malaysia and was made the official Arsenal Supporters Club in Malaysia by Arsenal FC in 2010.

We have now almost 760 registered members from all over Malaysia and the numbers continues to grow.

Arsenal confirms pre-season tour to Malaysia

arsenal malaysia tour

Arsenal FC, one of the youngest and most attractive football club teams in the world, confirmed that Malaysia will kick-start their first pre-season tour in Asia since 1999 – giving their huge fan base in Malaysia and in this region first hand opportunity to see Arsène Wenger’s First Team squad for the 2011-12 season live in action.

Arsenal’s confirmation was announced by FA of Malaysia (FAM) deputy president Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah who is also the Tengku Mahkota (Crown Prince) of Pahang, Tom Fox, Chief Commercial Officer of Arsenal FC and Julian Kam, CEO of ProEvents Group, the sole and exclusive tour organiser of the Arsenal Asia Tour 2011.

Organised by the FAM, the match between Malaysian XI vs Arsenal will be held at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium on July 13 and the kick-off is at 20.45 (8.45pm).

Arsenal to play in Malaysia on Asia tour

LONDON - English Premier League side Arsenal will travel to Asia to play a Malaysia XI in a friendly match in July despite manager Arsene Wenger's concerns about long tours causing fatigue to players.

arsenal malaysia tour

The game will take place at the country's Bukit Jalil Stadium, which has a capacity of over 80,000, on July 13 in the first part of their Asian tour. The club said they would give details about the second stage at a later date.

"Everyone at Arsenal Football Club is excited to be visiting Malaysia," Arsenal Chief Executive Ivan Gazidis told the club's website on Tuesday.

"The club has a tradition of playing there going back to the 1960s. This will be our fourth visit to Malaysia, having last visited Kuala Lumpur in 1999.

"We enjoy huge support in Asia and this will help bring the club closer to our fans out there."

Wenger has previously voiced concern about pre-season tours not being the best preparation for his team and has favoured taking his squad to mainland Europe for low-key warm-up matches before hosting the annual two-day Emirates Cup.

The Malaysian fixture may cause concern to Asian Football Confederation head Mohamed Bin Hammam, who has been unhappy with teams touring Asia while regional tournaments are being played.

The match comes 10 days after Malaysia play their 2014 World Cup Asian qualifying first-round, second leg against Taiwan which they are heavy favourites to win.

Should they advance, they would play southeast Asian rivals Singapore in the first leg of the second round on July 23.

Arsenal Women confirm first ever US pre-season tour

Arsenal Women will be heading to the United States for the first time this summer, as part of their pre-season preparation.

The team will be based in Washington DC from 15-26 August, with friendly matches taking place against National Women’s Soccer League side Washington Spirit and WSL team, Chelsea .

The games will take place at Audi Field on 18-25 August, with a training camp at George Mason University.

Arsenal sporting director, Edu Gasper said: "We always want to create the best conditions for our teams to prepare and perform at their best in pre-season. This gives our players an opportunity to play and train in a new environment, in front of our supporters around the world."

Managing director Richard Garlick added: "To take our women's team to the US for the first time on tour is another sign of great progress.

"We know from our recent trip to Australia that the interest and love for Arsenal Women stretches far and wide. We want to build on that and bring our US supporters closer to the club."

For the very first time, we’re off to the USA! 🇺🇸 We’re delighted to announce our pre-season tour will take place in Washington D.C. from August 15-26 ❤️ Register your interest now, Gooners! 👇 — Arsenal Women (@ArsenalWFC) June 10, 2024

Although Arsenal's first match in Australia drew in crowds of over 40,000, the decision to go Down Under reignited a controversial debate on the correlation between scheduling and player welfare.

Not only did the exhibition match take place just days before the season ended, it also concluded right before the next international window. This saw players returning to the UK right before the Lionesses’ vital Euro 2025 qualifier against France on 31 May.

Defender Leah Williamson and striker Beth Mead decided to opt out, but Alessia Russo was among seven senior internationals named in the squad.

At the time, England head coach Serena Wiegman criticised the Gunners' plans, claiming she was 'surprised' when she first heard about the exhibition match.

The most recent news of a trip to the US will see a handful of players, specifically those who've been involved in international qualifiers, arguably lose out on the opportunity to take adequate rest before the WSL 2024/25 season.

Benjamin Sesko makes final decision on Arsenal and Chelsea transfer

Benjamin Sesko has made a final decision on his future ahead of the Euros

Benjamin Sesko has snubbed interest from the likes of Arsenal , Chelsea and Manchester United and will remain at RB Leipzig beyond the summer transfer window.

Signing a new striker had represented a priority for the Premier League giants, but they will be forced to look elsewhere after the 21-year-old decided to remain with the Bundesliga club, where he will sign a new deal.

Sesko’s previous contract contained a £55 million release clause that expired at the end of the month.

Wary of their vulnerability, Leipzig have offered the Slovenia international a new deal which, according to Fabrizio Romano, contains a gentleman’s agreement over a potential future departure.

Sesko was reported to have indicated that Arsenal had been his preference were he to leave in the current transfer window, but he has now committed his immediate future to a club which finished fourth in the Bundesliga last season.

Why did Benjamin Sesko reject Arsenal & Chelsea?

While there are openings in the forward lines at the various clubs he has been linked with, Sesko believes it would aid his development by sticking with Leipzig where he will remain an automatic starter.

Kai Havertz excelled when deployed as a false nine during the second half of last season, while Arsenal will hope Gabriel Jesus will return to full fitness and the sort of form he displayed during the first four months of his Arsenal career.

Chelsea, meanwhile, already boast the likes of Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson who displayed enough potential last season to suggest they will feature prominently under Enzo Maresca next term.

Benjamin Sesko will spearhead Slovenia's forward line at Euro 2024

United are also in the market for reinforcements having been forced to play almost without a striker at times during an unprecedented injury crisis.

Erik ten Hag sanctioned the decision to sign Rasmus Hojlund nearly 12 months ago and despite initially struggling, scored 16 goals in 44 appearances in all competitions.

United are likely to sign a more experienced striker this summer, once they resolve the managerial situation which has left Ten Hag in limbo, to compliment the 21-year-old, rather than another youngster who could stunt Hojlund’s development.

In terms of alternatives, Arsenal and Chelsea may turn to Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, although the Serie A club are likely to demand a fee in the region on £100m.

Ivan Toney, Dominik Solanke and Alexander Isak all represent options with Premier League experience, but none are likely to be easy to prise from their respective current clubs.

Solanke, who began his career at Chelsea, was linked with a January move to Arsenal and it emerged last week that he had a £65m release clause in his contract.

Newcastle, meanwhile, are under little pressure to sell Isak who enjoyed a stellar campaign last season and Brentford are unlikely to accept an offer below £60m for Toney who returned midway through last season following his ban for gambling offences.

Arsenal and Chelsea Women will tour the United States this August as part of a summer series of matches broadcast exclusively around the world by DAZN Sports.

Arsenal will play National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) side Washington Spirit on August 18 before taking on their London rivals Chelsea the following Sunday. Both matches take place at Audi Field, Washington D.C. and will be streamed live and free globally on DAZN.

In addition, over the course of the visit, Arsenal will take part in a training camp at George Mason University in Fairfax County, a home-from-home for their Virginia-native Emily Fox. Otherwise, the team will be based in Washington D.C. from 15-26 August.

The matches come two weeks before Arsenal, who finished third in last season's Women's Super League, play two pivotal games in the First Qualifying Round for next season's UEFA Women's Champions League competition.

They hope the two games against high-quality opposition will provide them with the necessary match sharpness required as the qualifiers come three weeks before their competitive start of the season in the Women's Super League. Last season Arsenal went out in the qualifying rounds of the Champions League, missing out on the lucrative income and prestige garnered from playing in the group stage.

The club's Sporting Director Edu Gaspar said "we always want to create the best conditions for our teams to prepare and perform at their best in pre-season. This gives our players an opportunity to play and train in a new environment, in front of our supporters around the world."

Arsenal faced criticism last month for taking their players on a round-the-world trip to play a single friendly against an A-League All-Stars in Melbourne, Australia at the conclusion of the Women's Super League season and before the majority of their players had to play qualifying matches in the women's international window.

They may face similar complaints regarding player welfare with the scheduling of the start of the camp coming just five days after some of their squad - like Fox, Canadian Cloé Lacasse, Spain's Laia Codina and their three Australians, Steph Catley, Caitlin Foord and Kyra Cooney-Cross - could be playing in the Women's Olympic Football Final in Paris, which would involve six matches in seventeen days.

Nevertheless, the clubs will view the tour as an important vehicle in creating a global fancase for Arsenal and Chelsea. A sizeable crowd of 42,120 watched Arsenal play at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne and another 5,000 attended an open training session at AAMI Park in Melbourne during the trip.

Arsenal Managing Director, Richard Garlick said "To take our women’s team to the US for the first time on tour is another sign of great progress. We know from our recent trip to Australia that the interest and love for Arsenal Women stretches far and wide. We want to build on that and bring our United States supporters closer to the club."

Similarly, Washington Spirit CEO Kim Stone believes "this is a major step in growing the women’s game at home and abroad as the best in England face the best in the United States. We are very proud to offer global soccer followers unprecedented access to some of the top club competition in the world. We will welcome fans live at Audi Field or through our exclusive media partner, DAZN, who will stream the matches for free."

Co CEO of women's sports at DAZN, Hannah Brown added that "this deal marks another first for women’s football. Led by the team at the Washington Spirit – DAZN will be working with these clubs who are vanguards of the game."

"DAZN will not only distribute the games but also work with the clubs – marketing to their global fan bases and creating opportunities for brands to connect with the clubs and audiences alike. This is how we will grow the women’s game – working together to create unique and compelling content for fans."
