James Travis Tritt is an American country music singer originally from Marietta, Georgia who rose to prominence in 1990 with his debut album 'Country Club'.

James did not find his entry into the music industry to be particularly easy, neither of his parents expected him to make a success of himself as a musician. However thanks to the continued support of Warner Bros executive Danny Davenport in 1996 the young songwriter began recording demos that were passed on to other important names within the record label. Thanks to Davenport's encouragement Tritt signed a contract in 1997 to record six songs with the label.

He proved Warner Bros. was right to take a chance on the young musician as his first three singles were all huge Country chart hits. 'Help Me Hold On', his second release scored Tritt his first number one, he has scored four more number ones over his career and a huge selection of top five hits. He has also topped the Canadian Country charts six times and his releases were equally successful there.

After the success of his first album, the single 'The Whiskey Ain't Working' from his second album won the musician his first Grammy Award for Best Country Collaboration with Vocals. In 1999 he won again in the same category for the single 'Same Old Train' which featured Marty Stuart and a variety of other musicians. The majority of his albums now hold a platinum selling certificate and he has sold millions worldwide and has won four Country Music Association awards.

Live reviews

I was lucky enough to get to tickets to see Travis Tritt at a place called the Don Gibson Theater in a little town west of Charlotte named Shelby NC.

Don Gibson was a famous songwriter from Shelby and the theater is a tribute to him. The place is very well done. The interior is mix of art deco and 1950’s design. The place is laid out great. There is a bar and separate lounge area and then the stage and seating are on another side. The place only holds 400 people so you really get an intimate experience.

Travis was great in this setting. I felt like I was sitting in his living room . His voice sounded great and the band he had was very talented. They did a lot of slower songs. They also did all of his radio hits which really got the crowd going. He also did some versions of Don Gibson songs as a tribute to the person that the venue was named after. He played for a long time and really left everyone in awe of his vast musical knowledge. For a person that started out as “pop” country, he has really redefined himself as traditional and a top notched musician.

Report as inappropriate

Grammy award winning Travis Tritt has been working the circuit for over two decades now and as you would imagine he has learnt how to really compose himself onstage as well as how to work his adoring crowds. The singer/songwriter seems to have been on the road almost continuously yet appears energetic and full of life at every single show with no sign of fatigue.

He is spurred on by the cheers of his loyal fans who know his twelve album strong discography very well. Starting with a very apt 'Country Club' the audience are ready to sing along and support the musician as he beams with gratification. This also allows him time to demonstrate his epic ability with an acoustic guitar, playing frantic instrumentals and picking the strings at lightning. The good vibes continue as Tritt guides the audience through his career via music and saves 'Will The Circle Be Unbroken' for a fitting finale before leaving to huge cheers.

I started listening to you when u first came out with Country Club and have been an avid fan every since. Have seen you seven (7) times (Casino Rama - Ontario Canada) and cannot get enough. Am going again on May 29th, 2015;will be sitting in the front row left of the stage. You have shaken my hand three (3) times = gave me your guitar pick and finally autographed the pic of you/your family. This time I hope to get your TOWEL as this would finish my collection, however, rest assured I will be going to see you anytime you come to Casino Rama. Sure missed you last year. Travis, keep on doing what you do best. You are my ONLY favorite country singer ever. Would be awesome if we could meet your family one day and have you sing with your daughter and sons as you did in the Canadian East Coast ----PLEASE!!!! I know you will give an extraordinary show as you always do. THANKS A LOT

I originally thought Travis Tritt would be playing with other bands but it turned out to be just him. There wasn't even an opening band. He played for about an hour and a half. The show itself was fine. Everyone singing along to the songs was fun. The crowd was less enjoyable, but the kind of crowd to be expected at that kind of show. I won't go to see him again but not because of him. It cost about $65 per ticket and you only got to see him. This is the third time I have seen him, the first time when I was 8 years old. I just wanted to see him one more time.

It was the best concert ever. He really puts on an awesome show and he even tells the story of how he made a video of the veterans in one of his songs. Made my mom and dad and I cry a little bit. He is one of the best country performers out there. It was a 3 hour non stop show. It was a high energy concert that made me dance in my seat. I would totally recommend going to see him to anyone who is a country fan.

Travis Tritt at 60: Happy, healthy and scaling back touring

Travis Tritt is proudly part of the Country Class of 1989 with Clint Black, fellow Georgian Alan Jackson and of course, Garth Brooks.

“It was one of the most prosperous times in country music history,” Tritt said in a recent phone interview with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “I was extremely blessed by the timing.”

Tritt, a Marietta, Ga., native who has lived on a 75-acre property in Hiram since 1992, became one of the most popular country acts of the 1990s and early 2000s and the hits came hot and heavy: “I’m Gonna Be Somebody,” “Country Club,” “Here’s a Quarter (Call Someone Who Cares),” “T-R-O-U-B-L-E,” “It’s a Great Day To Be Alive.”

Even after he stopped charting, Tritt has been able to ride his rich catalog into steady touring for 35 years, performing an estimated 4,000 concerts in that time. But when he turned 60 in 2023, he said he began cutting back his schedule.

“I reduced my annual concert dates from 130 to 75 last year,” Tritt said. “This year, I’ve already done 12 solo acoustic dates and we’ll do 50 more band dates the rest of the year.”

“I always told myself in the early days if a) it wasn’t fun anymore or b) I didn’t think I could perform at a level I had established for myself, I’d quit and retire,” Tritt said. “Fortunately, knock on wood, that hasn’t happened.”

Tritt, married since 1997 with three children, has set aside more time to fish, hunt and vacation with his family.

“All those years I’ve toured, family vacations were few and far between,” he said. “I feel like I missed out on a lot of those opportunities when I was younger. I was out there working so hard. I want to enjoy vacations while my health is fantastic.”

Fortunately, he said he didn’t spend his money stupidly and has enough packed away to retire if he wanted to. And he still enjoys his current home in Hiram he purchased in 1992 even as the town has grown around him.

“The only thing within 10 miles of me when I moved here was a Kroger and a BP gas station,” he said. “Now there’s a Walmart and Target and some nice restaurants. I don’t mind. It’s the price of progress.”

It helps that his house is in front of a 3-acre lake stocked with bass and catfish. He has horses and plenty of space to drive ATVs.

“My house sits right in the middle of the property so no matter what happens, my view never changes,” he said.

As for the current state of country music, Tritt said he stopped paying attention in the 2000s. “Country started losing its identity,” he said. “I don’t know if that’s a good or bad thing. I understand country music has to change but some of the influences now I can’t relate to. It doesn’t sound like country to me.”

Traditionalist that he is, Tritt sticks to what he knows. “I can still go out and do my music exactly the way I’ve always wanted to and people still flock to the shows,” he said. “It’s a fantastic place to be in.”

His set list always includes his biggest hits but he plans to salt in songs from his latest album, “Country Chapel,” his first full-fledged gospel album.

And if you listen to his live renditions of his songs, he doesn’t stray far from the radio edit. “If it ain’t broke, why fix it?” he said.

Event Details

Thirty years after Travis Tritt launched his music career, the Southern rock-influenced artist continues to sell-out shows and stay true and relevant to country music fans across the globe.  Continuously performing shows and withholding a heavy appearance schedule, Tritt is proving to be unstoppable.

The highly abbreviated Tritt timeline started when the young Marietta, Georgia native incorporated his lifelong influences of Southern rock, blues and gospel into his country during a honky-tonk apprenticeship that led him to Warner Bros. in 1989.  Over the course of a decade, Travis released seven studio albums and a greatest hits package for the label.  His 1990 debut Country Club and its succession of hits put him in the vanguard of the genre's early '90s boom, dubbing him as one of “The Class of ‘89,” which included country music superstars Garth Brooks, Clint Black and Alan Jackson; all whom dominated the charts in the early ‘90s.

“Country Club,” “Help Me Hold On,” “I’m Gonna Be Somebody,” and “Drift Off to Dream” peaked at numbers two and three on the Hot Country Singles & Tracks charts; all which led for Tritt to win Top New Male Artist award from Billboard and the CMA Horizon Award (now known as the Best New Artist Award). Additionally, in 1991, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) marked Tritt’s debut album Country Club as certified platinum, then in 1992, the world-famous Grand Ole Opry extended an invitation for Tritt to become a member.

Two years after his debut, Travis’ sophomore album, It’s All About to Change, was released. Literally speaking, this album changed everything when the album shipped three million copies and all four of its singles reached the top five on the country music charts. Along with his first album, this release became triple-platinum certified by the RIAA.

At the same time, his conspicuous lack of a cowboy hat and musical assertiveness set him apart. The next series of albums, seven of which are certified platinum or higher, scored him more hit singles and led him to amass more than 30 million in career album sales, two Grammys, three CMA Awards and a devoted fan base that has filled venues coast-to-coast.

He's been a force in sports appearances, having performed at the 1996 Olympics, two Super Bowls, a World Series Game, the opening of the Georgia Dome, the final Braves game at Atlanta-Fulton Country Stadium and, in 2013, the NCAA men's basketball championship.

In 2012, Tritt formed his own label, Post Oak Recordings and shortly after released his album, The Calm After... In 2016, Tritt released a new project, a special live 2-disc CD and DVD, titled A Man and His Guitar – Live From The Franklin Theatre. The release shot and recorded at the historic Franklin Theatre in Franklin, Tenn., spotlights Tritt’s distinctively soulful voice and his exceptional guitar prowess in an intimate theater setting.

In late 2014 and throughout 2015, Tritt's compilation album, Very Best of Travis Tritt, that was originally released in 2007, saw a sales resurgence as it topped the SoundScan Top 200 Catalog Country Albums chart for over 60 consecutive weeks with 15 weeks spent at No. 1 and 35+ weeks notched in a Top 5 position, while earning RIAA certified gold status by selling over 500,000 copies. The 20-track album features some of Tritt’s biggest hits, including “It’s A Great Day To Be Alive,” “Here’s A Quarter,” and “Anymore.”

In 2018, Tritt appeared on the music showcase series, Real Country, alongside Grammy Award-winning artist, Shania Twain and ACM Award-winning singer-songwriter, Jake Owen who hand-selected emerging solo artists, duos and groups to perform in showcases that spotlight the rich traditions, songs and themes of specific country genres. The show aired on USA Network.

In 2021, Tritt released a new album with award-winning producer Dave Cobb (Chris Stapleton, The Highwomen, Sturgill Simpson) through Big Noise Music Group. The album marked Tritt’s first original album release in over thirteen years.

Chicago Tribune

”We`re thinking about calling it the No-Hat Tour,” says Tritt with a laugh, emphasizing this virtuoso trio`s differences from Nashville`s crop of impressive young neo-traditionalists.

The tour evolved as an attempt to capitalize on the expected success of the new Tritt-Stuart duet ”The Whisky Ain`t Workin`,” written by Stuart, but Tritt indicates that the dates are planned to continue well past the radio life of the song.

He says, in fact, that their show probably won`t be completely in motion until early 1992, the first year that he will tour largely as a headliner.

”Over the last few weeks, working on the promotion and video of

`Whisky,` Marty and I have gotten to talk a lot, and I really like him and I think he likes me,” Tritt says.

”We both are a little left of center of the mainstream. I think we maybe have a chance to become the Waylon & Willie of the `90s.”

On the record: Reba McEntire`s new album, ”For My Broken Heart,” is heavily laced with sad songs. Without specifically mentioning the plane crash that killed several of her band members several months ago, she alludes to it in a short note inside the album: ”It seems your emotional status determines what music you`d like to hear. That`s what happened on the song selection for this album. If for any reason you can relate to the emotion packed inside these songs, I hope it`s a form of healing for all our broken hearts.”

… Young bluegrass sensation Alison Krauss and her Union Station band recently recorded in Franklin, Tenn., with pop-folk star Michelle Shocked. … Song title of the week: ”Don`t Throw Me in the Briar Patch” by K. Brooks and C. Waters.

The legendary George Jones says he had to work twice as hard on his first MCA Records album, ”And Along Came Jones,” as on all his long career`s previous ones.

”I always liked to sing a song as the instrumental tracks were going down. Nowadays, you get the tracks down first and don`t worry about the singing, and then come back and get the vocals. It wound up being twice as much singing, but the hard work paid off.”

On the road: Gritty Charlie Daniels will be performing in an incongruously beautiful venue Friday when he takes his Charlie Daniels Band into the ornate old Rialto Square Theatre in Joliet. … The great Texas swing band Asleep at the Wheel has spent most of October west of the Mississippi, performing in Missouri, Kansas, Texas, Arizona, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma and California, coming east just long enough to do some TV filming (”Hee Haw,” ”Nashville Now,” ”Crook and Chase”) in Nashville and one show in Smyrna, Ga.

The Gatlin brothers` much-publicized plans for road retirement continue to evolve.

A half-year or so after announcing that their touring act will cease at the end of 1992, a Dallas company on whose board the three brothers serve recently broke ground on a Branson, Mo., entertainment complex that will include two live-performance theaters, a hotel, restaurants and retail outlets.

The Gatlins now say that in 1993 they will be off the road but will work an estimated 90 days at the Branson complex, performing in a theater that will bear their name.

In the meantime, they are doing their ”Country & Christmas” concert tour with their sister LaDonna and recording an ”Adios” CD for Capitol Records to be released next April. Their ”Adios” concert tour, scheduled to run through 1992, will be launched in January.

Et cetera: Patsy Cline, who died in a plane crash in 1963, is arguably the most popular female recording artist in Nashville. Her ”Greatest Hits”

was certified gold in 1985 (the year Jessica Lange played her in the movie biography ”Sweet Dreams”), was certified platinum (million-selling) in 1987, double platinum in 1989 and triple platinum in 1991. She has 15 albums available on MCA, more than any other MCA-Nashville roster member.

More people watched this year`s Country Music Association awards show than any other network TV special or movie the first week of October. It was the first time the CBS network, which aired the show, has won the ratings race for Wednesday night since it aired the Grammy Awards in late February.

The ”Cadillac Style” song and video from his debut Mercury album,

”Don`t Go Near the Water,” has gotten Sammy Kershaw named spokesman for a Cadillac sales campaign in specific areas of the South and West.

Kershaw is to record TV and radio spots for use throughout Oklahoma, in western and southern Texas, and in parts of Louisiana. Kershaw`s role as a Cadillac salesman will be emphasized on shows and promotions with major country radio stations in each market.

Charlie Daniels, Travis Tritt Plot Outlaws & Renegades Tour

By Stephen L. Betts

Stephen L. Betts

Country-rock veterans Travis Tritt and the Charlie Daniels Band launch their 2019 Outlaws & Renegades Tour on Friday night in St. Augustine, Florida, with special guest the Cadillac Three . The trek, which extends through June before a brief break and then picks back up in August, will feature CDB contemporaries the Marshall Tucker Band as well as duo Love & Theft on select dates.

This year, Tritt celebrates his 30th anniversary as a member of the famed “Class of ’89,” the group of country newcomers, including Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson and Clint Black, who dominated the charts that year. His most recent album A Man and His Guitar: Live From the Franklin Theatre , featured stripped-down versions of his familiar hits, such as “Country Club” and “Anymore,” as well as covers of Waylon Jennings and Johnny Cash classics.

Pioneering Nashville session picker, Southern rocker and Country Music Hall of Fame member Charlie Daniels continues to front one of the most influential bands of the Seventies and beyond. Last October, the 82-year-old fiddle and guitar player released Beau Weevils: Songs in the Key of E , with musicians James Stroud, Billy Crain and Charlie Hayward. The LP blends swampy blues, rock and country with touches of funk and jazz, and fulfilled Daniels’ desire to collaborate with Stroud, who in addition to having been an integral part of the rhythm section at Jackson, Mississippi’s Malaco Records, previously headed up a number of Nashville record labels and produced numerous projects for other artists, including Daniels.

Taylor Swift: Which Eras Tour Songs Didn’t Make Concert Film & Which Surprise Songs Got In

Every show on the Eras Tour involves an acoustic set where Swift performs at least two songs custom to that night’s show. At first, she wouldn’t allow herself repeats unless she messed up the lyrics to a song, but now, she has done away with that rule and gotten more creative by combining songs in mashups and playing up to four in a segment. The first song or three take place on guitar, and then she shifts to piano for the second half before diving beneath the stage to resume the setlist – which has since contracted and expanded to include a  Tortured Poets Department  era and set .

Below you’ll find Taylor Swift’s surprise songs that she has played most recently in Europe as well as a record of all those she has played on the entire tour so far.

Watching Travis Kelce At Taylor Swift's Concerts Has Fans Feeling Sad

  • Taylor Swift's previous relationships lacked support for her success, which makes fans sad given Travis Kelce's wholehearted support.
  • Travis Kelce stands out for being actively supportive during Swift's concerts, in contrast with her exes.
  • Fans appreciate Kelce's genuine support for Swift and are upset it took this long for a man to appreciate her.

Taylor Swift has always been one to wear her emotions on her sleeve. When Swift gets into a relationship, she is all in. There is no being careful and no protecting of her heart. Because of the fearlessness that Swift has shown with not giving up on love, she has faced her fair share of heartbreak. While this has made for hit songs, allowed Swift to break records, and make a fortune, it has yet to lead her to the happily ever after Swift desires to have.

Swift has dated several different men over the years . The men she dated had different types of careers, were different ages, and had different levels of achievement in their fields. What the men have all had in common, however, is their inability to not feel intimidated by Swift's success. This caused Swift to feel she had to change to fit a mold she thought these men wanted of her, only to discover that changing herself was not going to make them love her like Swift loved them.

The Eras Tour: Taylor Swifts Most Memorable Off-Script Moments (So Far)

But when Swift started dating Travis Kelce, it was clear there was a different dynamic to the relationship. Kelce was not afraid of being in the spotlight. He did not shy away from paparazzi presence. Kelce was present. Despite this, Travis Kelce's behavior at Taylor Swift's concerts has fans upset. They are so upset, in fact, that now their opinions have formed, there is nothing that will change their minds about Swift's main squeeze.

Fans Love How Travis Kelce Acts During Taylor Swift's Concerts

Travis kelce sings, dances, and interacts with fans during taylor swift's concerts.

Kelce was a fan of Swift's before he ever met her. He showed up at Arrowhead Stadium to watch Swift perform and was blown away by the show she put on for her fans. Kelce said as much on his podcast, New Heights , at the same time he confessed that Swift shut him down when Kelce tried to meet her backstage at the concert.

Since Kelce and Swift have become a couple, Kelce has been in attendance at more than half a dozen of Swift's Eras Tour dates. At each concert date, Kelce can be seen interacting with fans , singing and dancing to all the songs, blowing kisses at Swift throughout the concert, accepting friendship bracelets, and even filming Swift during the show.

Travis Kelce Receives Pity Amid "Exhausting" Relationship With Taylor Swift

Kelce is the epitome of a supportive boyfriend. He does not expect Swift to do all the heavy lifting in the relationship and reciprocates instead. This has allowed Swift to not only be herself but to shine during her tour, which is uncharted territory for The Tortoured Poets Department artist.

Why Fans Think Joe Alwyn Was Never Supportive Of Taylor Swift

Joe alwyn never looked happy to be at taylor swift's concerts, even when she was singing songs about him.

During the six years that Joe Alwyn and Swift dated, Alwyn was seen attending one show from the Reputation Tour, which was the opening date. While some Swift fans have stated that he may have attended a few more but was just backstage, it is unclear if this is true.

During the Reputation Tour date that Alwyn was confirmed to attend, he showed very little emotion, even with songs that were clearly about him being sung. This lack of emotion has been attributed to Alwyn being an introvert . However, it has also been perceived as Alwyn not being supportive of Swift and not being able to handle her star shining brighter than his.

"Fricking Joe always looked miserable," one fan said.

Another fan explained, "People are saying, 'Don't compare an introvert with an extrovert.' We aren't. We are comparing how they publicly support and encourage Taylor."

14 Songs Taylor Swift Wrote About Her Ex-Boyfriend, Joe Alwyn

"I just think back to the clip in Ms. Americana where she is running to Joe because she couldn’t find him," a third fan stated.

Alwyn was not the only one who did not support Swift when they were together. Matt Healy initially appeared to support Swift, but was never as enthusiastic — publicly — as Travis.

Matt Healy Fooled Many, Including Taylor Swift That He Was Supportive

Matt healy looked supportive in public but was anything but with taylor swift in private.

While the two were not meant to be and Swift joined the throngs of celebrities who loathe Matt Healy , Swift and Healy's romance was white-hot in the early days. Healy attended several of Swift's Eras Tour dates. Healy looked happy to be in the crowd and happy to support Swift. Despite not knowing if the two were an item or not, fans were happy to see Healy stepping up in ways that Alwyn did not appear to when he had to be in public supporting Swift.

"All I’m saying is Joe never hyped her up the way Matty does," one fan wrote. "She deserves her man's support."

Another fan stated, "[It] must be for real!!! No-one goes to the same concert 4 days in a row!"

However, there were those who knew that Healy was not the right match for Swift well before the two broke up.

"NO NO NO AND NOOOO," one fan said. "PLEASE TAYLOR."

Another fan simply wrote, "Please no."

As fans would learn, Healy was one to support in public and do the very opposite when in private with Swift. Because of this, the relationship was never going to last.

Why Fans Are Upset At Travis Kelce's Behavior At Taylor Swift's Concerts

Fans are upset with travis kelce's behavior because it took this long for taylor swift to find a supportive relationship where she can be herself.

The reason that fans are upset with Kelce's behavior at Swift's concerts does not have to do with the way he treats her. It is the fact that for the first time after so many relationships, Swift is with someone who wants to support her as much as she wants to support him . This fact has been proven time and again with Kelce not only showing up to Swift's concert but making sure he interacts with fans, all while being genuine.

"He loves her out loud!!" one fan wrote. "I've never rooted for a celeb couple like I do these two."

Another said, "Okay but the way he's so sweet about it and seems genuinely happy to be doing it. Our girl won."

"I LOVE that he is embracing her fans and loving them just as much as she does," a third fan stated. "I love this man."

While there is some speculation that Swift and Kelce are using one another to boost their careers, more people at this point believe that Taylor and Travis are really are in the relationship for the long haul versus looking to get something from one another.

"I think Kelce pursued Taylor. She felt surprised and she liked that… He is secure enough in himself," one fan wrote. "He doesn’t 'need her money,' nor does he need more. She doesn’t have to wonder, 'Does he like me for my money?' She is certainly secure enough financially."

Another fan said, "I think they're love. In genuine love and the love for one another doesn't have anything to do with either of their careers."

Travis Tritt Confirms He Needs Knee Surgery, But Will Resume Touring

The cause of Travis Tritt 's knee pain is exactly what he though it was: A torn meniscus. The news comes after the country singer wiped his entire November touring schedule because the pain had become too much to bear.

Tritt says he underwent an MRI to get down to the root of his ailment.

"Update: An MRI this week revealed that I do have a torn meniscus in my left knee as I’d suspected," he writes on social media. "I plan to return to the road to play my remaining 2022 shows from December 1 thru December 10. My knee surgery will take place in mid December."

It appears the "It's a Great Day to Be Alive" singer will put up with his pain for few more weeks to honor his commitments before taking a break for surgery.

Since Oct. 7, Tritt had been doing a joint trek with Chris Janson called the Can't Miss Tour with special guest the War Hippies. Originally dates were set to run through Nov. 19, but due to Tritt's knee injury, November dates were canceled and refunds were issued. His December appearances are previously-scheduled shows.

"I have been experiencing severe pain in my left knee for the past few weeks due to a possible torn meniscus," he explained at the time. "With short bits of rest between shows, I had hoped that the pain would eventually subside and I could complete all of my remaining dates in November, including all the dates on the current Can't Miss Tour with Chris Janson and the War Hippies."
