During the normal search of verbs remember that in latin you are to look for the first person of the present indicative, the names and adjectives must be searched with the masculine nominative singular. By clicking on the appropriate box in the search form, the search will also be performed within the inflected forms. Idioms, figures of speech and quotes appear in the Latin Dictionary under the various forms which compose them. Please type one word at a time among the most significant words in the sentence. Herculaneum: A Tour In Latin
This article has been reviewed in accordance with our editorial policy .

Video in Latin from Herculaneum

In 79 A.D. Mount Vesuvius erupted and laid waste to many towns around the Bay of Naples. Towns like Pompeii, Stabiae, Oplontis, Boscoreale and Herculaneum.
Introduction
Today we are going to take a walk along the 2000-year-old streets of Herculaneum, visit Roman houses, look at beautiful frescoes, and learn about the town, its inhabitants, and the eruption.
According to tradition the eruption of Vesuvius occurred in 79 A.D. on the 24th of August, a date that has been disputed of late; prior to this the volcano had been dormant for about 800 years.
Herculaneum had been inhabited since the 6th century B.C. and was at the time of the eruption a wealthy town by the seafront with about 20 hectares and 4000 inhabitants. But, as Mount Vesuvius exploded the town was buried under 14–20 meters of clay, ash and soot. It was then lost for centuries.
In the early 18th century the Roman town was rediscovered and excavations begun in 1738. Things came, more or less, to a halt when Pompeii was discovered. The Herculaneum excavations became sporadic for a long time, simply because it was easier to concentrate the efforts to Pompeii. The pyroclastic flow had been different in Pompeii and it was not buried as deep down as Herculaneum.
During the 20th century, excavations of Herculaneum started for real again and instead of digging in underground passages and wells, as had previously been the excavation technique, archaeologists now brought the sun back to shine upon Herculaneum for the first time since the eruption.
The excavated area is much smaller than that of Pompeii, with 5 hectares compared to Pompeii’s 40. Although, as mentioned, it is believed that Herculaneum as a whole was about 20 hectares, leaving a lot to be excavated in the future (so exciting!). However, Herculaneum is in many cases much better preserved than it’s sister town. Many houses are intact to the point where you can enter them and find the mosaic floors look almost new, the frescoes on the walls shine in brilliant colours and the ceiling still keeping you dry from the rain. The pyroclastic flow in Herculaneum was excruciatingly hot, and it carbonised the town, preserving even wood and other organic-based materials.
It is a marvellous place to visit. So, follow along and walk the streets of Herculaneum with us by watching the video. (And, if you can, go to Herculaneum!)
I highly suggest you watch the video to discover the breath-taking streets and houses of Herculaneum, but if you are on the go, you can listen to the audio only here on Latinitium.com or in your favourite podcast app:

Eamus.
In thermopolio
In thermopolio nunc sumus.
Minerva, Iuno, Hercules
In itinere, volo aliquid vobis pulcherrimi ostendere. Ingrediamur hoc aedificium ubi sodales Augustales versabantur. Nunc ipsum est satis vacuum. Proh dolor! fere nihil restat, sed unum restat idque maximum. Venite huc. Ecce!
Hic videtis pulcherrimas picturas in opere tectorio. A sinsistra, in illa pictura, videtis tres homines. Videtis Minervam, Iunonem, Herculem.
Lautitiae pictae
In aedibus lautissimis nunc ipsum sumus.
Lavatum itur
Nunc sumus in apodyterio balnearum et hic est locus ubi homines vestimenta sua exuebant antequam lavarent. Eamus lavatum. His in balneis, fuit caldarium, frigidarium, et tepidarium.
Balneis virorum visis, nunc volo vobis ostendere brevissime balneas feminarum.
Thermopolium aliud
Meministisne me paulo ante dixisse esse thermopolia satis multa?
Opportunitas Loci
Qualis olim fuit? Haec villa spectabat mare. Prospectus hinc erat in mare.
Tantum’st.
Bene valete.

What travelers say about their Latin America trips
Travel tips for our latin america tours.
Our tours to Latin America visit South America, Central America, and the Caribbean—which means answering the question “when is the best time to visit Latin America?” is easy. No matter what time of year you want to travel, there’s a destination for you!
When planning your trip, remember that the seasons are reversed in the Southern Hemisphere; when it’s summer in North America, it’s winter in South America. South America’s size and changes in altitude mean that weather conditions differ greatly from region to region. In general, the southern parts of the continent experience more distinct seasonal changes. Near the equator, expect more moderate seasonal changes, as well as a rainy season from December through March.
For an escape to a warm destination during winter in North America, the best places to visit in Latin America include Central America and the Caribbean. The dry season in Central America extends from December to April, and visitors can expect temperatures around 70 to 80F. Similarly, weather in the Caribbean is best between December and March, outside of hurricane season.
When you choose one of our Latin America tours, you’ll have an expert Tour Director and local guides at every step—so you can get the most out of your journey. Looking for the best place to visit in Latin America? These are just some of the amazing destinations you can explore on our Latin America trips:
- Machu Picchu in Peru
- The Galápagos Islands, Ecuador
- The Torres del Paine region of Patagonia
- Rio de Janiero, Brazil
- Buenos Aires, Argentina
- Mexico City, Mexico
Whether you want to explore ancient ruins in Peru , admire wildlife in the Galápagos or Amazon rain forest , or taste local flavors in Chile and Argentina , there are so many reasons to take a trip to Latin America. Our team of regional experts can help you choose the tour that’s right for you!
Latin American culture is diverse, and that includes its cuisine. From region to region, local specialties vary, but some staples found across Latin American food include rice, beans, corn, and salsas. African, Asian, European, and Native American influences can be found in many Latin American recipes.
On any of our Latin America guided tours, you’ll have the chance to enjoy the region’s iconic eats. That’s because our experts handpick experiences to get you closer to culture, and all of our tours to Latin America include meals that highlight the local cuisine.
Latin America travel can mean everything from exploring the wilds of Patagonia to dancing the tango in Buenos Aires . But no matter where your journey takes you, there are a few essentials you’ll want to have in your bag for a Latin American vacation:
- Lightweight layers for varying temperatures
- A comfortable pair of walking shoes
- Sun protection, such as sunscreen and a hat
- Rain gear for occasional showers
- Swimwear to enjoy beaches and hotel pools
- Insect repellent, long pants, and long-sleeved shirts for outdoor activities
But this is just a short list! Once you’ve reserved one of our Latin America group tours, you’ll receive a more detailed information about getting ready with tips tailored to your specific destination.

Aventura Announces Cerrando Ciclos Tour in Latin America – Here Are the Dates
Aventura’s 2024 Cerrando Ciclos Tour will head to Latin America this summer. Today (May 21), the top-selling bachata group announced new dates in countries like Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Peru, and Guatemala.
Back in February, Aventura revealed they had reunited for the Cerrando Ciclos Tour. Romeo Santos joined forces with his bandmates once again after wrapping up his solo Fórmula, Vol. 3 last year. In honor of the group’s comeback, they released the song “ Brindo Con Agua ,” which featured Henry Santos singing the lead vocals. Earlier this month, Aventura kicked off their tour at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, CA. Since then, the guys have continued to sell out concerts across the states.

The U.S. leg of the Cerrando Ciclos Tour is set to wrap on Jun. 21 in Dallas, TX. Aventura’s fans in Latin America won’t have to wait long for the tour to visit them. On Aug. 15, the guys will kick off the second leg in Guadalajara, Mexico. The tour will also visit the Mexican cities of Queretaro, Mexico City, Monterrey, Puebla, and Merida. Starting in October, Aventura will perform concerts in Peru, Ecuador, Argentina, Uruguay, and Chile. In November, they will also visit Venezuela, Nicaragua, Guatemala, and El Salvador.
In January, Aventura’s very first album was remastered and released on all music streaming platforms. Before the band’s official debut album Generation Next in 1999, they were known as Los Tinellers. Under that old name, the guys dropped the independent album Trampa De Amor in 1996, which only sold five copies at the time.
A few songs from Trampa De Amor were reworked and re-recorded for Generation Next , including Aventura’s breakthrough hit “Cuándo Volverás.” Another interesting fact about the Trampa De Amor album is that only Romeo and Lenny Santos are featured on the cover. Henry and Max Santos couldn’t make it to the photo shoot due to traffic.

Karol G, Kany García, Maria Becerra, and more Latin divas headlining concerts in Spain during the 2024 summer
C olombian superstar Karol G is set to electrify Spain with a remarkable series of four sold-out concerts at Madrid’s iconic Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. From July 20 to 23, she will draw an astounding 65,000 fans each night, solidifying her status as a reigning queen of contemporary Latin music. This historic feat underscores Latin American female artists‘ powerful presence and influence in the global music scene, with Spain becoming a central stage for their performances.
Karol G’s “Mañana Será Bonito” tour marks her sole stop in Spain as part of a broader European tour that includes Switzerland, Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Belgium, and Portugal. Her success follows the trail blazed by legendary Latin pop divas like Selena Quintanilla , Gloria Estefan , and Shakira , who opened doors for Spanish-speaking artists worldwide.
Joining Karol G in Spain this summer are several other distinguished Latin female artists, each contributing their unique flair to the vibrant cultural tapestry:
- Myriam Hernández : The Chilean songstress, celebrated for her romantic ballads and a career spanning over three decades, will perform at the Sant Jordi Club in Barcelona on July 4 and at La Nueva Coverta de Leganés in Madrid on July 5. Known for hits like “El hombre que yo amo,” which has garnered over 130 million Spotify streams, Hernández has collaborated with Karol G, notably at the Viña del Mar Festival.

Lady gaga will premiere a concert special on hbo max, watch willow’s bare and awesome npr tiny desk concert.
- Mon Laferte : Also hailing from Chile and now based in Mexico, Laferte is a powerhouse in the Latin music scene. With her hit “Tu falta de querer” amassing 500 million streams on Spotify, she continues to impress. Her “Autopoietica” tour will kick off in Galicia on July 6, headlining the Gozo Festival, and include stops in Berlin, Paris, Amsterdam, London, Zurich, Stockholm, and several Spanish cities.
- Ana Gabriel : One of Mexico’s most revered vocalists, Ana Gabriel, will grace Spain with her presence on July 9 at Barcelona’s Forum, July 12 at Madrid’s Wizink Center, and July 14 at Valencia’s Marina Norte. With a five-decade career, Gabriel remains a towering figure in romantic music.
- Julieta Venegas: Fresh off her Latin Grammy win for her album “Tu Historia,” Venegas will perform in Madrid at Noches del Botánico on July 13 alongside Kevin Johansen. Her tour will also include Córdoba, Valencia, Fuengirola, Porreres, Sant Feliu de Guíxols, and Vienna stops.
- Kany García: The Puerto Rican singer-songwriter, winner of six Latin Grammys, will bring her dynamic pop sound to Spain, with performances in Barcelona on June 28, Madrid on June 29, and additional shows in Fuengirola, Valencia, and Gran Canaria.
- Olga Tañón: The dynamic merengue-pop diva from Puerto Rico will perform at the Cruïlla Festival in Barcelona on July 11, marking her only Spanish date on her European tour.
- Marisa Monte and Eva Ayllón: Representing Brazil and Peru, respectively, these artists will perform together on July 23 at Noches del Botánico in Madrid. Monte will also appear at Alma de Barcelona on July 18.
- Lila Downs: The Mexican world-music star will showcase her diverse musical repertoire as part of the Alma de Barcelona series.
- Maria Becerra: The Argentine sensation will join the Cruïlla lineup in Barcelona on July 10, adding her fresh urban sound.
This summer, Spain will resonate with the powerful voices and diverse sounds of these remarkable Latin divas. Each will bring their unique stories and styles to audiences across the country. Their concerts are performances and celebrations of Latin culture and its profound impact on the global music landscape.
A Free & Self-Guided Latin Quarter Walking Tour of Paris

The Latin Quarter, otherwise known as the Quartier Latin in French, is a lively district with roots dating back to a time when Paris was known as Lutetia. Here’s a free and self-guided Latin Quarter walking tour. Along the way, you’ll discover some of the best bookstores in the city, get the chance to glimpse some history, and discover why the patron saint of Paris is no longer in her final resting place.
Latin Quarter Walking Tour: Practical Advice, Tricks & Tips
Circus bakery, square rené viviani, shakespeare & co., odette paris, catholic church of saint severin, the abbey bookshop, cluny museum, place de la sorbonne, paris pantheon, saint-etienne-du-mont, enjoyed reading this free and self-guided latin quarter walking tour pin it now, read it again later:.
If I were to give just one tip for this walking tour of the Latin Quarter (i.e. 5th arrondissement of Paris), it would be to ensure that you wear comfortable walking shoes. Although the route is predominantly flat, you’ll likely end up wanting to stop off at several of the sites and wander around.
For those who think that they’ll be seeing many cultural attractions and museums when in the French capital, I would also advise that you consider the Paris Pass. Though it’s a little pricey in its initial investment, this pass allows you to skip-the-line at many attractions and allows for entry into over sixty monuments and museums! Check here for Paris Pass prices and further information.
For further information on the Latin Quarter, be sure to read my guide to the 5th arrondissement . If you’re looking to stay in this area of the city (after all, basing yourself in this area means that you’re in a great spot from which to explore the rest of Paris) , then I highly recommend booking your accommodation in advance.
Walking time: 21 minutes
Distance covered: 1.6 km
For the very best cinnamon bun in the city, you simply must head to Circus Bakery . Newly opened and located along a pretty street close to the Notre Dame Cathedral, it’s also here where you’ll find some of the best coffee the city has to offer. Please note that as of late 2021, Circus bakery is permanently closed. Luckily, many of the same products that were for sale in Circus can now be found for sale in the Café in the Merci concept store in Le Marais.
The oldest tree in Paris can be found in the heart of Square René-Viviani , a pretty green space where many Parisians and tourists choose to picnic during the summer months.
Often said to date all the way back to the 1600s, this small piece of history is now propped up by concrete and wooden pillars. Nevertheless, be sure not to miss this quirk of history while in the area!
Of all the anglophone bookshops in Paris , Shakespeare & Co. is likely the most known of. Named for a bookshop which was opened by the American, Sylvia Beach, in 1919 and hosted some of the biggest names in writing during the era. During the 1920s, Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Gertrude Stein, all frequented the store.
Today, a new and second bookstore of the same name is open as an ode to the original . Should you wish to visit for yourself, be sure to be prepared to queue. After all, the bookstore is tiny and space is limited. If you’re visiting Paris in the cherry blossom season , you can also expect to see plenty of pretty cherry flowers outside the store.
If you’ve ever searched for the most instagrammable spots in Paris, then no doubt you’ll have come across Odette Paris . Situated in the Latin Quarter, steps away from the Church of Saint- Julien-le-Pauvre, Odette serves some of the best choux buns in the city! Located along a cobbled lane, be sure to head there mid-week or earlier in the day if possible so as to capture the pretty coffee shop with fewer people around!
Truth be told, my favourite church in Paris is not Notre Dame, nor is it the Sacré-Coeur Basilica. Instead, the beauty of the St Severin ecclesiastical building makes it well worth a wander inside if you’re ever passing through the Latin Quarter.
Home to a rather unusual formation of arches designed so as to look like trees, once inside you’ll find a quiet place to sit and contemplate, away from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the arrondissement. When visiting, be sure to stay as quiet as possible. It is a place of worship, after all!
Books spill out onto the street and the smell of freshly brewed coffee is ever-wafting down Rue Parchemenerie, the pretty Latin Quarter street where the Abbey Bookshop can be found.
Established several decades ago by Canadian Brian Spence, the store now counts some 35,000 titles among its offerings. At other times of the year, the Abbey Bookshop also offers book signings and talks, meaning that it’s always an exciting place to stop by if you’re in the area.
Of all the museums in Paris, none is so enthralling for a Classical History buff as that of the Musée de Cluny. Located between the intersection of what were once the two main streets in Roman Paris, the Cluny Museum offers both the chance to see what life may have been like during the Middle Ages, and also a glimpse of the former Roman bath houses. Nearby, several important Roman locations can be found. For more information, check out my guide to Roman Paris.
Paris is home to some of the most prestigious universities in the world. With this being said, no architecture of any university in France is perhaps as famous or as iconic as that of the Sorbonne University. Once known as the Sorbonne IV, the college takes its name from the Collège de Sorbonne which was founded as early as the 13th-century.
If you’re thirsty en-route to the other locations on this Latin Quarter tour or simply want to purchase a coffee or glass of wine, then I recommend sitting in one of the cafés at Place de la Sorbonne and simply watching the world go by. Want to know more about café culture in Paris? Here’s my guide to the art of ordering coffee in Paris.
Thought that Rome was the only place to have its own Pantheon? Think again. Sitting in pride of place and overlooking the rest of the city, as well as the ever-so-pretty Jardin du Luxembourg, the Paris Pantheon was originally constructed to serve as a place in which to house the relics of Saint Genevieve.
However, over time that purpose changed and now one of the greatest honours that a French citizen can be bestowed is to be interred in the Pantheon. Now, you can not only visit the final resting place of the likes of Voltaire and Marie Curie, but you can also pay to go up the Pantheon’s dome and enjoy one of the best panoramic views of Paris.
In a kind of returning to the source of sorts, this Latin Quarter walking tour ends where the Patron Saint of Paris now finds her final resting place. Lying in the shadows of the iconic Paris Pantheon, this beautiful church contains the shrine of Saint Genevieve, patron saint of Paris, as well as several architectural features of note.
Free to visit, once inside the Paroisse Saint-Étienne-du-Mont , be sure not to miss the rood screen. Intricately carved, it dates all the way back to the 16th-century and is the last of its kind in Paris. Wait for one of the guided tours, and you can peek behind the scenes at some truly astonishing stained glass windows.

I've been a tour guide in Rome for 16 years. Here are 5 tourist attractions that are worth it and 5 you can skip.
- After 16 years of working as a tour guide in Rome , I've figured out the best attractions.
- I always recommend visiting the Park of the Aqueducts and the Ostia Antica archeological site.
- But I think the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, and Mouth of Truth attractions are overcrowded.
Rome is pretty crowded — the city welcomed a record-breaking 35 million tourists in 2023. Any gorgeous photos you see of breathtaking and empty piazzas were likely taken long before most people have woken up.
As a seasoned Roman tour guide for the past 16 years, I would never say certain attractions have no merit. But after years of interacting with travelers , I understand that people want alternatives.
Luckily, Rome has priceless art and artifacts around every corner.
Here are five popular attractions that are worth visiting, and five you might want to skip.
The Capitoline Museums offer plenty of art and archeological finds.
Located on Capitoline Hill, the Capitoline Museums offer a treasure trove of ancient Roman art and artifacts.
Despite their historical significance as some of the oldest public museums in the world , they're often overlooked by tourists.
The well-curated collections include masterpieces by renowned artists like Michelangelo and Caravaggio, ancient bronzes, and frescoes. It's a must-visit for any art enthusiast seeking a quieter, more intimate experience.
Don't miss the Basilica di San Giovanni in Laterano.
As one of Rome's four major basilicas, San Giovanni in Laterano (also known as the Archbasilica of St. John Lateran) boasts a stunning display of baroque architecture and intricate frescoes.
It may not be as famous as some of Rome's other churches, but its grandeur and historical importance as the oldest papal basilica in the city make it a hidden gem worth exploring.
The Park of the Aqueducts is beautiful and full of history.
Escape the crowds and stagnant air of the city center and venture into a tranquil Park of the Aqueducts (Parco degli Acquedotti).
Here, you'll see towering arches of 11 aqueducts that once carried water to the heart of ancient Rome. It's a perfect spot for a leisurely stroll on the ancient Latin Road or a picnic away from the crowds.
The attraction also offers a unique perspective on the ingenuity of Roman engineering.
There's incredible art in the Basilica of Sant’Agostino.
Art lovers shouldn't miss the exquisite "Madonna dei Pellegrini" housed within the Cavalletti Chapel at Basilica di Sant'Agostino in Campo Marzio.
The dramatic interplay of light and shadow in Caravaggio's painting comes alive in the serene church, providing a captivating glimpse into the artist's unparalleled talent and revolutionary style.
A Roman vacation isn't complete without a trip to Ostia Antica.
Step back in time and explore the remarkably well-preserved ruins of Ostia Antica, Rome's ancient seaport.
The archaeological site offers a quieter and less time-consuming alternative to the crowds of Pompeii a little farther south. Visitors can wander through ancient streets, houses, and Roman theaters in a more peaceful setting than the Roman Forum.
Plus, you can enjoy a seafood lunch overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea after your visit .
On the other hand, the Vatican Museums are overcrowded.
Although the Vatican Museums are undeniably home to some of the world's most renowned art collections, they're almost always swarming with tourists.
The crowds and long queues can detract from your overall experience. In peak season , the Vatican easily sees 20,000 to 30,000 visitors a day.
It's virtually impossible to admire the art as you're shuttled through each gallery until everyone spills into the Sistine Chapel . Even the bathroom lines can be a 30-minute wait.
Unless you are willing to spend a lot of money on an official tour before the museums are open to the public or visit in the offseason , you should consider alternative attractions.
You can get a good view of the Colosseum without going inside.
As iconic as it may be, the Colosseum can be overwhelming, particularly during peak tourist seasons .
Its historical significance is undeniable, but exploring the ancient amphitheater can be a challenge among the swarms of visitors.
Acquiring tickets is also tricky. We often have to time our online purchases perfectly, refreshing the page in 10-minute intervals. Tickets sell out quickly and are sometimes resold by large companies.
Consider alternative viewpoints or guided tours for a more personalized experience. I also like taking in the exterior around 9 a.m. or in the evening when it lights up.
Walking the Appian Way might be a letdown.
The Appian Way is significant in Roman history as the oldest and most important road. But its appeal may be lost on the average tourist.
Nowadays, there are loads of bike and bus tours to the Catacombs along the road — making it crowded — and public transport there is difficult.
I suggest visiting the Park of the Aqueducts instead. It's an easy metro ride from Termini Station and offers a glimpse into what the Roman countryside would've been like.
Everyone wants a photo in front of the Trevi Fountain — and that's the problem.
Although undeniably one of Rome's most famous landmarks , the Trevi Fountain is often teeming with tourists jostling for the perfect selfie.
The sheer volume of visitors can detract from the fountain's beauty and significance, making it challenging to appreciate it in peace.
If you insist on throwing a coin in, go as early in the morning as possible — otherwise, it's a zoo.
I wouldn't wait in line for the Mouth of Truth.
Made famous by its appearance in classic films like "Roman Holiday," the Mouth of Truth may not live up to the hype for many visitors.
According to medieval legend, the stone mask will bite off the hand of any liar who enters its mouth, which has made it popular with tourists.
But the brief photo opportunity doesn't justify the long queues. Plus, it was probably just used as a drain cover in the Temple of Hercules.

What people love about Active Tours in Latin America
Our guide, Ingrid, was fantastic. Kind, helpful, attentive to each person’s specific needs. She made sure everyone was included at all times, even the quiet people. The tour itself was excellent. We were able to tailor it to our specific needs. We saw 11 archeological sites whereas other people took in all the water activities. We would have liked a better estimate of food prices as we ended up spending vastly more than budgeted. Probably an average of $60 CAD per person each day. Still highly recommend.
A really good mix of hiking, culture, and exploration. I really enjoyed this tour, as it covers so many places that aren't otherwise accessible on your own. Arguable, Inca Trail was the highlight, but there was so much more. Ballesta Islands, Lake Titicaca, the Yungas Road in Bolivia, steak in Salta, etc etc. I enjoyed Bolivia much more than I expected (the museums in Potosi were world class). You have free time to explore the big cities such as La Paz on your own if you choose. Only downside were some inflexibility in restaurant choice. Overall a good trip I'll remember for a long time.
I thoroughly enjoyed my recent vacation The amazing accommodations, delectable cuisine, seamless transportation, would not have been achievable without the guidance of our exceptional tour guide, Lau. Without the support of TruTravel and Lau, the extensive exploration and diverse experiences within the ten-day duration would have been unattainable for me in Costa Rica. Thanks to the meticulous planning and personal touch provided by TruTravel and the charismatic presence of Lau, I was able to explore diverse regions of this beautiful country and create memories that will undoubtedly last a lifetime. Lau played a pivotal role in enhancing the overall quality of the journey. She was a perfect blend of enjoyment and knowledge, demonstrating both care and entertainment throughout the trip. She had insightful recommendations for culinary delights and engaging activities. It is a rare find to come across someone who can effortlessly blend professionalism with genuine care and charisma. This balance contributed significantly to the success of the journey. Lau was able to provide help dependent that was specifically tailored to each person within the group, going above and beyond to make sure we were all satisfied and taken care of. She was also able to provide various information on questions that were presented and we can see just how much she cared about the people she was with. Lau’s influence transformed this vacation into a truly remarkable and unforgettable experience.

"My guide was fabulous! Absolutely can’t say enough good things about him. Other than that, though, I was pretty disappointed with this tour. I’m honestly just not sure what I paid for? I guess hotels and transportation, but I feel like I could have organized this myself and saved a ton of money. It felt like NOTHING was included - no meals, no activities - everything worthwhile was an “optional add-on,” and the alternative was to just hang out at the beach. Which is fine, but again, something I could have sorted out on my own. I think y’all need to be more transparent about what you’re offering for the cost.

"Spent four wonderful days at Tierra del Volcan. Braved the wind and rain for a bike ride to El Tambo. Condors, ibis, caracara, peregrine falcons, and smiles all around. Jorge and Maria are wonderful hosts and their love of the chagra culture and the Ecuadorian culture were inspiring. Thanks so much, And Empanadas!
